Hey, what's up, guys? A bit of a bug there.
Um, this is Jerry Bailey of the Unwrap Sports Network.
A lot of lot of stuff to talk about right now for the constable planted to see above me in Minnesota knocks off number four Penn State.
This is a game that was gonna be considered by a lot to be a close game.
Um, not a lot of people expect Administrator to come out on top that this makes James Franklin one and seven on the road against ranked opponents and his 10 year Penn State.
And that does a lot for the college football playoff picture.
As it stands right now is the Penn State was number four coming into the weekend.
We can take them out right now, assuming that Clemson wins tonight over N C.
Plus, we still have l s u Alabama to go, um, clumps is gonna be in around that three spot.
Ah, High State handled Maryland last time scores 52 to 7 there.
So I stayed handle their business against Maryland without chase young.
So I'm still in the boat That says, if l s u wins tonight, I would move them into the number one spot in the country.
I don't see why they want to deserve to be number one.
They have better resume than Ohio State does.
And if they beat Alabama, they deserve to be number one.
So, uh, now Penn State for them, that's gonna definitely knock them down.
I would assume at least to around six or seven, depending on how organ does.
Um, and Georgia.
Georgia plays Missouri and then, um, so we'll see how that pans out.
But right now it comes to playing N. C.
I picked Ellis you to beat Alabama.
So, as it would stand after this week, I would assume the top four would be Ellis you, Ohio State Clemson and do you put Georgia there? Do you put Alabama there? That's where it becomes a little bit testy for the playoff committee.
It depends on how the loss would be.
If Alabama keeps it close and loses by a field goal, I think they would try to find a way to keep them in the top four.
It'll be hard to argue.
Put Georgia there based on their track record.
It's a lot better than Alabama's resume this year, beating Notre Dame in Florida.
So I think that Alabama will be knocked down to maybe the five spot if Georgia Wind.
I think that might try to sneak Georgia into that four spot, Um, based off of there just that resume this year.
Obviously, they did have that bad homeless to South Carolina.
But would you look at the teams they've beat compared to the team's Alabama's beat? It's not very close.
So, uh, if I'm guessing right now, I assume l s u wins tonight.
I'm gonna say Clemson beat Tennessee State.
I think the top four should be, in that case of Georgia wins.
Ah, it should be L s U, Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia.
And then I think they'll have Alabama and probably organ at that six spot or going to Penn State, one of the two.
I think that Penn State just lost there Any hopes that they added a playoff appearance? I thought they were gonna lose in a few weeks.
Anyway, against Ohio State, I don't think they're gonna beat Ohio State even if they don't have chase.
Young hey was facing a possible four game suspension for that private loan.
That's a whole other conversation for another time.
How stupid that is.
Um, but it was just Minnesota was in control of this game.
From the get go, um, head State threw an interception.
Clifford threw an interception on the opening drive to Antoine Winfield.
To which Minnesota answer with the 66 yard touchdown pass.
Thio Bateman, who had a huge day over 200 yards, receiving four Minnesota and then Michael Parsons.
Hey, didn't start this game for Penn State.
He is being disciplined for behavioral issues.
What ABC reported s we didn't start.
The game was just bad secondary play.
They caught drawing that Stapleton, um, kind of napping in the secondary quarterback you desires kind of move Stapleton over on The first touchdown was a designed quarterback, Boyd's by Pence by journey Brown, who's becoming a more focal point of their offense but that Antoine Winfield, later on in the half, gets his second interception of the game, and Minnesota just keeps capitalizing on Penn State mistakes.
Tyler Johnson had a touchdown.
Minnesota led 21 to 10. At one point.
It was 24 to 10.
Um, and then Penn State got a fuel to make it 24 to 13 at half.
Penn State came alive going the second half.
We've only had 13 yards of total offense going in in the fourth quarter.
So Penn State really came rowing back, um, pat fire move tight and at a great game, KJ and we made some plays thoughts and made some plays.
Ultimately, wasn't enough there.
Too many mistakes by Sean Clifford They had the ball, um, inside the red zone until an offensive pass interference set them bag made its second in 24.
It took a long shot.
I didn't understand the long shots of the end zone on 2nd 24 at all.
At that point, just try to get some yards back and make it at least reasonable third down yardage to gain.
Instead, they take the big shot.
It becomes 13 24.
Strong, clever takes a shot at the ends on 1/3 and 24th rows behind KJ Handler.
It's intercepted, and then Minnesota gets the win, uh, over Pens Day, As I said, James Franklin, now one in seven on the road against ranked opponents.
There's not a lot more than you can say about Penn.
Status is the fact that each year that they get a little bit of hype, they blow it.
Ah, few years ago, they were number two going into Ohio State.
They lose that game, and then we lose the next week to Michigan State.
And that really derailed any hopes that they had a playoff berth.
Um, then they get blown out by Michigan last year.
Um, in Michigan.
So Penn State doesn't really have that.
I don't know that facade about them like an Alabama, like in L s u like an Ohio State because they just can't back up their hype once they get into a position to show they've got.
And they debuted at number four on the college football playoff rankings, the highest they've ever been in the rankings, and they blow it.
They had a real chance to move up at least a number three of this week if they were to win, because obviously l s u Alabama gonna play each other. One of them's gonna lose.
So that would have been Penn State of at least one spot and instead now they're gonna be around that six or seven spot.
They're gonna have to rely on a lot of help.
Um, they gotta take care of their own business, though, because I got Indiana next, and then Ohio State in Ohio State.
Now they're to beat Ohio State in Ohio State.
Maybe they have a case, because in that at that point, that would still be on the run for a Big 10 title appearance on a possible bigtime title win.
And if they beat Ohio State and win the big time title, I don't see them staying out of the cultural laugh.
It's just the fact I don't see them going into Ohio State into Columbus and beating the Buckeyes at on the road.
I just don't see it happening so but this does help teams like Georgia.
I talked about this before in the stream.
Georgia has a real case for themselves, you know, because I think that if Alabama loses, there'll be bumped into the number four spot.
Um, in Alabama will be number five on the outside looking in, and then a number six.
I assume that they would put uh or again or Penn State um, I think that probably move up or down.
At least one of them put Penn State at that seven spot.
How they might even drop Penn State.
Not even further.
I know Minnesota's a good team.
Obviously, they're undefeated there.
Bring 17 of the college football playoff rankings coming into this week.
They're 13 in the eight people.
Um, Minister is not a bad team, and they're on the road.
They played hard, but John Clifford look bad.
Um, through made a lot of mistakes.
Threw three interceptions.
Defensively, They were exploded in the first half.
They came into this game averaging a believe is 238 yards.
UM, average allowed per game.
They allowed to 37 in the first half to Minnesota.
So right there they was getting exploited.
The defense played a lot better in the second half.
Shaka Tony recovered a fumble for Penn State.
They gotta much need to turn over, but they weren't capitalizing.
It turned the ball over in the red zone offense of pass interference in the red zone, which sent them back even further, which set up another Sean Clifford interception to close out the game.
Um, is just Penn State.
Once they get some momentum, once they get some hype, they never seem to take advantage of it.
And we're seeing the aftermath of that now.
So now they're gonna have to hope that they can go into Ohio State and beat the Buckeyes.
Um, right now, they gotta refer, if your pencil, you're rooting for Ohio State toe win.
Um, because when you play them, if you do beat them, you want them to be number one or number two, so it looks better on your resume.
So right now, if you're a Penn State fan, you're also kind of an Ohio State fan until those two meet in Columbus.
Because if Ohio State loses to Rutgers, which no one on this planet expects them to do.
But let's say somehow it happens and Penn State then beats them.
That's not as nearly as an impressive as a win because Ohio State, I'll drop around five or six.
And at that point, that's not as impressive. Win.
If Ohio State were number one, they're not gonna lose to Rutgers, obviously, So that's nothing that they gotta worry about.
They gotta worry about beating Indiana next week Indiana's no slash this year and then taking care of the highest state, which I just don't see them doing.
Um, so I think that, though, beat Indiana.
The lose Ohio State, though, beat Rutgers on Senior Day.
Would be a two lost team sitting around.
Get into a decent bowl.
But this is again for Penn State fans, just another year in which they beat Washington the following year in the Fiesta Bowl.
Eso At least they got a New York six bowl win.
That's something to be proud of, I guess.
But when you've got so much hype around you regular season wise and you look at the numbers, they're right up there with Alabama Ohio State.
Teams like that.
It's just the fact that Penn State can't finish when they need to.
They can't take advantage of these opportunities when they're given to them, and at some point it's just become a thing where I'm not gonna buy into Penn State until they give me a reason to buy into them.
And right now they just haven't done that.
So a big loss for than any lines and it has big playoff implications, not just for them.
But for other teams now, Georgia, If they went out there gonna get in, I would say, um, we look at the remaining schedule for them.
They got Missouri.
We talked about Auburn, who could be a big spoiler and this whole picture, because they play Both Alabama and Georgia play Alabama, the Iron Bowl, obviously the last week of the season, as they always d'oh.
Um, but I think that Georgia, if they went out, they're going to secure a spot because of Alabama loses.
I think that's going to give them.
You know, as long as I take care of their business, they'll be that fourth, that three or four spot, um, for the playoffs.
But I think that if both Clemson and Georgia went out, I think Clemson and Georgia will be three and four, respectively, in the open Ohio State L s u at the one in two spots, assuming that they also went out.
Um, but let's say that Alabama wins tonight.
That would not jealous you out, obviously, and I think the same thing will happen for Georgia.
They'd move in and Clemson will move in, and then we'd have to see what happens in terms of the SEC title game picture.
Whoever comes out of the SEC Champion ESO Championships Saturday will really determine that.
But, um, regardless, as long as George takes care of their business, they're going to be one of the top four teams, even with a bad loss of South Carolina.
But the fact that it came earlier on in the season, and not so recently that's gonna help their cause because people can accept them.
Or they can look what they've done more recently, how they've rebounded from it and say, All right, well, they came back strong.
Ah, the resumes strong.
So I think that they're worth being put into the Constable playoff.
Alabama's been in the playoffs every year since its existence, and I think they've played in the title game every year since its existence as well.
Almost, Um, don't quote me on that.
Another played in the past four.
Um, so you know, it would be something brand new to see Alabama Not in the playoff.
Um, and honestly, I think that the committee's gonna do all they can to get them in the playoffs because they want to see Alabama um, that gets them ratings.
It gets people gonna watch Alabama, cause I'm gonna see them lose.
Um, but I think that if Georgia wins out, they'll be in.
If Clemson wins out, they'll be in eso either.
Either Ellis, you or Alabama is going to be on the outside looking in right now.
I believe it's Alice. You'd think l issues the better team.
And we'll see if they can prove that tonight when they go into Tuscaloosa and try to get a win for the first time, I believe since that 96 game, um, years I was that night.
I was a long time ago, um, that they beat Alabama.
So, um, a lot of implications coming not just from the Penn State game.
Uh, Penn State Losing has a lot of implications for Clemson and Georgia as well.
So if you're a Clemson fan, you're happy with Minnesota right now because of you when you're gonna get bumped in.
Um, I think regardless of Clemson, Clemson's gonna get regardless because l s u Alabama playing the night.
As long as I take care of their business, they beat NC state.
We got Wait for us next week.
Who's currently writing 19.
I still think they take care of business there.
And then they close out with South Carolina and Georgia was plays Missouri, Auburn, Texas A and M Georgia Tech for the remaining schedule.
So cleansing a Georgia both went out. They'll be in.
Um, like I said, if I had a project right now, I would say the top four teams will be Ellis you Ohio State, Clemson.
Georgia will be my Final four right now if I'm guessing, um, based on the outlook, them, um, between Penn State of Minnesota.
But like I said, Penn State still got Indiana and Ohio State.
I just don't see them going in beating Ohio State.
Uh, but usually we see once you get the best of Ohio State on the year and hasn't happened yet, it's not gonna happen.
Next be against Rutgers.
Um, but I'll House Day does also close out at Michigan.
Now let's say that Ohio State beat Penn State, but Michigan beats Ohio State.
We've seen this happen before now.
I don't would be above Penn State just because Penn State would then have two losses, and both of them would be in conference.
So I think that is where it will be different from that situation from a few years ago where Penn State went to the Big 10 title game.
They beat Ohio State earlier on in the season, and we're still left out because Ohio State, uh, had one last lost intensity.
If Penn State I'm not, wants to pit that year, they definitely would have been the golf ball player, but because they had that one additional loss.
That's where UM, I kind of got Penn State left out of the playoff.
And they also got beat down by Michigan.
That year's Wells like a blown up by Michigan.
They lost a pit, but they also beat Ohio State.
But they still at Ohio State of because they had one less went one less loss and they beat Michigan.
So there's a lot that could come out of the rest of the year.
Penn State's playoff chances going down to 15% and they're going to do a lot to get and they need a win out and then you need a little bit of help as well, so we will see what happens in the coming weeks for the Constable playoff.
We'll see what happens in the rankings early next week.
So thank you for watching.
