and welcome back in with weak on That's life here on SportsCastr as Jared Allen grabs a rebound and just massacres the rim coming up now in two minutes to play here, this one got tight.
You know, he said that if Damian Lillard, who peels back on a deep three, not gonna go down for him Rebound pulled down by Spencer Didn't Woody on that.
If you get on just underneath two minutes here.
But you know, we talked about this at halftime, if your only concern was Damian Lillard, You probably feel like that.
Be OK to get away with.
Unless, of course, Lily goes off for 50 plus in a game.
Which is certainly what we saw here in this one as ah, as we saw the point of the stat line here real quick on Lillard.
Yeah, rated 50 right now, 10 to 10 from the line 17 and 30 from the field in six of 14 from beyond the arc.
And as we take a brief time Azure with 1 41 to go, it's a 10 point lead for Brooklyn.
You know, the MBA is a game of runs and certainly Portland had one in them, and I'm not going to say it's 100% locked in here.
But down the stretch, wouldn't we see a couple of big three pointers from Joe Harris Didn't have a single free three pointer up until until that one.
I think he took only one other attempt in the in the game.
So and he actually showed effectiveness driving to the laying there in the second half, just kind of utilizing what was available to him.
Space in the lane.
Not a big team that you're going up against.
And the four total attempts from beyond the arc, 5 11 from the field right now, sitting in 12 points.
The other big line here is 34 from Spencer Dinwiddie.
He went ahead and just kind of went off from downtown.
And then in the second half when we thought maybe you'd like to see more of the same from him, it was just having a hot hand from beyond the arc.
He actually really settles in and starts to play the control of game, and we've seen so often from him and that is driving the lane under control and able to get the ball up and under into the basket.
Had a number of those in the second half.
Really helped keep the tempo and the pace going in this one for the for the Nets.
Because when we go inside the numbers again, you know Carris lover just to a 12 1 of four from beyond the arc struggle that's had turnovers and this one just seven points has at three turnovers total.
You know, so a a concern, but ultimately a 17 to run here in the fourth for Brooklyn.
Another positive that we didn't touch on the pre game or at halftime.
And this one is that the Nets have been struggling in second halfs of games.
And even though the third quarter played out fairly evenly nets worth of mine, it's too.
On the quarter lost, their father five point lead shrunk down to open it up and in for deem Littler driving down the right side of the lane.
Kyrie Irving guarding and fowl cold on Kyrie.
Just one second off the clock.
1 15 107 and Lillard to be going to the line before we dive.
Too much more into the stat lines here will go ahead and just stick with a live play by play as we wrap this one up and see if anything happens here.
It won't move away from the action until we know that Brooklyn is locked this up.
But again, some big performances.
Lillard hits the additional free throw, pulling into a 1 15 1081 37 on the clock Irving with the bowl driving across half court, working at the top of the key, and we'll see what the Nets try to establish here.
Feels like Maybe it's just going to be Kyrie Irving working the offense.
Going one on one right now drives the lane.
Dishes off to Alan.
Back out to the top of the key to verticals above the free throw line off back rim and a miss, and Lillard comes up with the rebound.
1 10 on the clock is little drives the lane straight through.
Contested by Alan.
They will call a foul and little once again go to the free throw line.
One of the highlights has been a course.
Share it Alan, and this one number of blocks has five total on this day so far, almost caught another one there.
But unfortunately, on the last sequence you saw, Kyrie had it, drove down the lane, dropped it off to Alan, had his back to the basket, though, tried to kick it back out to the top of the key.
But ultimately, until averts hands, who, as we said, has been struggling in the field rattling the 1st 1 home from the line is Damian Lillard, making it a six point game with 107 to go here in the fourth quarter as we take a look 12 12 from the lines and night for Lillard on the floor, you have Den Woody Harris, Alan along with, of course, Kyrie Irving and taking a look.
I believe it's story on Prince who rounds out the offense currently for this unit.
Demi worked with both top of the key as Irving set a bit of a soft screen there.
Alan now starts out as a screen.
Dimly searching finds Harris on the perimeter drives towards the lane, partially blocked there by McCollum, and we'll be going the other direction.
Sorry, not McCollum's.
McCullum drives down the lane, dishes off again to Damian Lillard again, A foul is called this one's going to be on Caris Levert.
And now Lillard back to the line 1 15 to 1 10 40.
4 seconds now on the clock.
And if you're the Nets rate how you're trying to find this balance here and so far, not so good is unable to get a key bucket here down the stretch.
And that 17 to run is certainly dissipated away.
And now you find yourselves.
I mean, if Willard as he hits the first, if he is both of these makes it three point game with 40 seconds.
Now you're into that competition where you're looking at probably fouling and maybe exchanging some baskets on either end.
And we highlighted this 1/2 time as one of the concerns for the Nets.
A team that is on Lee shot now 67 almost 68% from the line in this game certainly improved in the second half, but they have not been great.
And as you would expect, a seven run from the Portland Trail Blazers result in a Kenny Atkinson time out on the floor.
Now, I I wouldn't have anticipated it getting back this close again with the way the fourth quarter was headed, but it is a game of runs in a player who has not been stopped so far.
Tonight is Damian Lillard.
He's now to 57 on the evening, 18 to 31 going 15 15 fromthe line.
We did touch on this in the first half, right in spite of a lack of size on either side of the ball here, the Nets 1928 but none of them really.
The big players.
Kyrie Irving typically gets the line pretty well, five of five from the line today, and even a guy like Spencer Dinwiddie.
He leads the team with seven free throw attempts, knocking down six of them.
So some success.
They're disappointed that Alan only went for for eight and certainly a little bit disappointed that Allen, who looked like he was having a little more success in the first half of this game offensively kind of got stymied here in the second half, though Joe Harris picked up the slack on the offensive end.
Certainly, Kyrie Irving kick things into another gear here in the second half of times, exchanging back and forth with Damian Lillard on some buckets and you know is you take a look at this defensive set up here.
I will look to see.
It's interesting that in a game where care sliver to struggle the way, as from the field Kenny Atkins it still hasn't found the floor late in the game going against what he's been doing in previous matchups.
Now, this may just be because you don't necessarily have all the horses that you'd like to have out there, but well, will be interesting to see what they do here is to get the ball in.
Harris triggers to Kyrie Irving comes across half court, eyeing up on the perimeter.
Levert down low.
You have Alan actually spaced out deep on the key, Harris in the far corner as well, and we'll wait to see with didn't.
But he also longing where the prince is one on one ball, down to five on the shot clock.
He drives through the lane, hangs banks it in Kyrie Irving Man, if you want to talk about having a guy in clutch time, certainly does not hurt to have him on the court.
Knocks on a great shot of Damian Lillard throws up a prayer of a ball.
Just a straight air ball three point attempt from the viewing on the Ark.
I think Game probably was thinking he was gonna get fouled on that one.
It will be side out for the Brooklyn Nets 10.
You're 1 17 1 12 Kyrie hitting the big bucket when it counted, really just took that clock down, waited for his time attack, drove into the lane and then again, just hung in the air and have the ability to make the big shot we need to.
Harris, triggering in now, looking for an opening.
Gets it in and a foul quickly found.
This is gonna be temple getting fouled.
Oh, no, I'm sorry. It's just a Nimitz.
An inbound and time out called by Kenny Atkinson.
So they get the ball in, they call the time out.
We'll take a look and see Now will be able to advance the ball tohave court here to be interesting to see what type of play Kenny Atkinson draws up.
Obviously, Portland at this point you're probably looking to foul and extend the game, but you'll be interesting to see if they can play some suffocating defense, and they prevent the inbounds from getting to one of the shooters for the Nets, and you take your chance on a less than stellar player of the line.
But more than likely, the time out is called your best shooters on the court.
There's really not going to be a lot of options for Portland in terms of looking at players that don't have a great percentage of the line.
Everybody's a pretty good shooter, so we'll take a look and see what happens here.
Kenny Atkinson, also known for drawing up quality please out of time outs as well.
4 to go, this is probably make her break with five, a five point lead for the Brooklyn Nets rate.
Now we highlighted and Lillard in the 57 point performance that he's put up.
But not to be outdone.
Kyrie Irving, 12 27 4 of eight from beyond the arc, five of five fromthe line had three rebounds, just 66 assists in this one complemented with a steal a block, just the one turnover in 33 points.
So a nice all around game from Kyrie Irving.
Certainly he knew when he had to turn it on and in this quarter, 28 26 in favor of the Brooklyn Nets for point totals, and we'll go ahead and see what happens on the inbound.
Now cross court. Harris will.
In Man, you have Temple, and you have Kyrie Irving in the backcourt rate.
Now, with Dame Lillard guarding Spencer Dinwiddie on the in bound here, Harris waits dishes, gets it into Irving.
A quick dish to Spencer.
Did anybody and they're gonna go ahead and working around.
They will get the foul on the perimeter against Joe Harris.
But a nice job by Kyrie.
Irving gets the ball drives underneath the basket, kicks in the den.
What he did when he takes a dribble gets it outside to Harris, who was ultimately found but now down to just 5.7 seconds.
Not a lot to worry about in this one, I would say as long as Harris and probably knocked out at least one of these free throws, then that should be in a good position.
Oh, and on that play, actually, Lillard went down and caught the back of his head on the team mates leg as den Woody was rotating through, looking a little tight, just checking in, checking in with his head coach here as the 1st 3 throw goes down for Joe Harris, 1 18 1 12 5.
7 on the clock hair stepping on the line for his second attempt straight through.
And that should do it 1 19 to 1 12 The Brooklyn Nets, as Littler dries up across half court soft defense fires up of three at the buzzer, so little to go ahead and cap off his night with a freebie three capping off a 60 point losing effort.
And as we talked about in the first half in the pregame show at halftime, in spite of a big performance like that, what has plagued the Portland Trail Blazers that no one else is able to come through and score for this team? 1 19 toe, 1 15 final and 60 points more than half more than 50% of the scoring coming from one individual player As we take a look down that list you know Simon's came into contributed 15 points for the Portland Trail Blazers.
You had 10 from white side, but obviously on this team with this roster, you're looking at C.
McCollum, who plays 40 minutes and goes four of 19 over two from beyond the arc and just could not get into a rhythm.
And this one had five rebounds, had two turnovers, just eight points from your second best player on the team and a guy that needs to be contributing offensively in order for this team to be successful.
Silver lining for for the Portland Trailblazers certainly has to be that if McCall get into rhythm, you would like to think that you could have some success there.
But the end of the day, it's another victory for your Brooklyn Nets.
They now get two in a row.
They get their first road win of the season.
They get themselves officially to 500 as well in a nice way to kick off the West Coast trip, highlighted by Spencer **** lease 11 of 18 and six from 10 from beyond the beyond the arc performance.
34 total points of plus 22 rating on the floor.
I think that this is really a nice game for him, a great strong performances.
He gets into a rhythm here in the season, and then the young rookie Claxton comes in with 12 12 minutes, three or five from the field to a five at the line.
Want seem clean that up a little bit? He's actually a pretty good free throw shooter.
Eight points in a plus five rating wall on the court.
So a nice debut for him.
Certainly good minute contributions plus nine from Nawab A did not contribute points on this one, but amazing is having a good defensive impact and certainly on the floor when positive things were happening.
Can't read too much into. That.
Certainly will be interesting to see if Caris Levert can get himself back into rhythm in the next one.
And another nice thing about this as we kind of cap off the post game.
Wrap up here story on Prince please.
Just one of six from the field, one of three from downtown has seven rebounds of defensive rebounds at that, so he ends up contributing on the defensive side of things for the Nets.
And it's nice to see that when you have Caris Levert struggling when you have Tory on prints not necessarily contributing, we'd like you even a jo hair.
So it's +23 pointers late in this one, and ultimately, you know, finishes with 14 points.
But for the most part of a quiet night, attack the basket pretty well for them.
It's nice to know that when you're big scores are kind of having off nights.
You can dip in to the man on the bench in the entrepreneur Spencer Dinwiddie and haven't give you a big game and give you a lift, and you can have other contributors as well to help balance this team out.
I think if you're the Nets, you been averaging 1 20 a game.
You had the 1 19 mark, which is nice.
And then, on top of which you also hold your opponents of 1 15 I wouldn't call it a glorious, glorious finish, but nevertheless, you do do a nice job.
I think you stymied some players at times.
Ultimately, this was the Dame Willard show from a Portland perspective.
But hey, Windsor wins as they say in the MBA.
So go ahead and wrap this one up, taking a victory home, and as we get a little bit of a look here as to where the Nets will be heading next.
They're gonna go ahead and take this thing on the road, and we'll be looking to see if they can carry over some of this success as well.
Move on from Portland.
Next matchup coming Sunday at the Phoenix Suns.
