This is Alex from Unwrap Sports you to break down Week nine in the NFL.
First off, we have Thursday Night Football, which is the San Francisco 40 Niners visiting the Arizona Cardinals.
It was a 28 25 victory by the San Francisco 40 Niners.
And if you have listened to any of my previous streams, I've basically said how the 40 Niners defense and the 40 Niners running game has basically prevented Garoppolo from having to win a game through the air.
This game was prime example of what Garoppolo is capable of.
He had four touchdowns through the air.
You know, he has a savvy veteran with Emmanuel Sanders, who they picked about the trade deadline.
They have George Kiddo, who is, ah, force in his own when it comes when it comes to the tight end position, They have Debo Samuel, who has really come into fruition these last couple weeks.
He's really got more involved with the offense, kind of getting them involved on gadget plays and, you know, this was a very big showing for drop low.
I think this bodes well for them to continue their undefeated streak as ah as of last as of this week, there now the only undefeated team left in the NFL.
Ah, their running game wasn't exactly as effective as it was the week before.
You know, Brita got it did get it going with 78 yards rushing, But it wasn't a dominant rushing attack, as normally we would expect from this team to Vaughn Coleman after having a three touchdown game.
He, you know, definitely was held to under 25 yards.
You know, it was, ah, great showing by the 40 Niners.
You know you can't be every team easily, You know, you gotta Poulsen games out yet the hold on some leads.
They did that in this game, and it was very impressive on my end and really solidified themselves as they face the Arizona Cardinals team that has proven to be very dangerous.
Calamari played very well 241 yards, two touchdowns, and Kenyon Drake, who was acquired a week ago for what looked like to be insurance in case David Johnson and Edmunds didn't return in time, had over 100 years.
Rushing touchdown and 50 yards through the air was a very dynamic piece in this airs on offense, which was impressive to me coming off.
You know, not being a part of cardinals for more than, you know, a week.
So I think for that I was very impressed by the way that Kenyon Drake handled the load.
Handled the plays.
And I think you know that team with, you know, Larry Fitzgerald definitely got him acclimated within this, um, their system rather quick.
And that's what help Kenyon Drake be as successful as he Waas.
Next game we have is the Indianapolis Colts at the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Steelers pulled out that victory 26 24.
I've been very impressed with the way Mason Rudolph has gone a little bit more gutsy with his throws.
Something that happens with a young passer is they tend to kind of make the safe throws kind of the Alex Smith, you know, type of situation where they're just gonna go for the safe routes.
But he's definitely shown over the last couple of weeks.
He's, you know, willing to trust his receivers and put the ball in a position for them to make the play the same way that he did with Juju.
this past week, the week before with the Miami Dolphins.
It was just something I was very impressed with.
I feel like you know, there's still a lot more growth when it comes to that, but they've really opened the offensive playbook up for him.
Jalen Samuels wasn't able to get the ball.
I mean the ground game going as he did the game against Cincinnati before he got hurt.
Edmunds came in our 33rd string running back and played exceptionally well, 74 yards on the ground.
But this game was primarily one by the defense.
I feel based on the way that Minka Fitzpatrick got himself another interception.
Constant pressure sacks.
This Colts team is a great team with a lot of resilient victories in this in the season so far.
You know, Jacoby percent did get hurt and it was up to Brian Horror to finish this game of.
But I was very impressed with Brian Hoyer coming off the bench cold and still being able to move the ball.
It was something I think that you know, is very gonna boat exceptionally well for this'll team because with them knowing that even if Jacoby, you know, misses a game or two, Brian ***** is gonna have them in a good spot.
Marlon Mack was able to get, you know, touchdown and get himself going on the ground a little bit.
He hasn't broken out.
As you know, we've all expected him, but I think that has a lot to do with, you know, the Steelers kind of having a lead late late in the game and basically holding them down.
But, yeah, I think this game was a very big statement for the Steelers, too.
Get this victory against the Colts and get themselves back to 500 after having a very rough start.
Next game we have is the Houston Texans at the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This game was in London.
I believe Texas just handed the The Jaguar is a tough loss.
Gardner Minshew in his last start.
Now that Nick Foles is coming back and is reclaiming his spot as the number one quarterback, he struggled mightily.
I don't know if it was necessarily, you know, maybe it was the jet lag.
Maybe it's all these other factors in there, but unfortunately for him, he leaves on a sour note.
He played exceptionally well, kept this team within striking distance of, ah, wild card spot.
I think Nick Foles will come back and play very well.
He's a quarterback was proven to be able to come off, you know? So speak the bench and play well, which I would count that in this situation with him coming off injury.
It was an exceptional game by the Texans to Shawn Watson, twenty, two hundred one yards, two touchdowns.
You know he got DeAndre Hopkins into the end zone.
Eight receptions for 48 yards.
It's very peculiar to me that DeAndre Hopkins has yet to kind of blow up in the game as like he did in the first game against the New Orleans Saints.
It's been kind of a weird season like that.
I think Watson is a little bit more, you know, in.
He's kind of on the I'm gonna try to spread the ball and get it to the best player.
I can get it to you.
Whereas I think other quarterbacks you trust him too much to accept they'll force the throwing alum.
You know Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, but overall they played very well.
Carlos Hyde, 106 yards to the ground, did have that one miscue where he got stripped at the end zone.
That's unfortunate for him, but I think this Texans team is a very strong team for this latter part of the season.
Jaguars, on the other hand, you know they're a team that has the potential to, you know, make a run.
But it's all contingent on Nick Foles and his ability to move forward to take the top play well, in that first half for you got hurt.
Next game we have is the Washington Redskins at the Buffalo Bills Redskins.
You know, they struggled mightily on the on the offensive side of the bar. In particular.
Haskins you know 15 20 to 144 yards, you know, wasn't able to get it going, Adrian Peterson shows, is that he's been able to be father time with another 100 yard game and a touchdown.
It was a very impressive victory for me on the Buffalo Bill side for the reason that Singletary, who missed a good chunk of the season after having two strong games, came in and got a full full load of carries, 20 carries, 95 yards and a touchdown and was involved in the passing game with 45 yards off three receptions.
That, to me, is a big sign for the Bills.
Singletary looked like he could be that feature back for them in those 1st 2 weeks, and it was a little concerning he got hurt and how he would adapt to coming back.
Singletary definitely played very well show to be in a good target out of the backfield runs the bar hard.
You know, Adrian Peterson was very impressed with him.
They had a little discussion after the game, Uh, thanks to the algae moved by Frank Gore to get his attention.
But this bill's team is a legit team.
I know just the stigma of saying the Bills.
A lot of people just kind of don't want to throw them into that.
But I think the Buffalo Bills are really turning themselves into a real contender, and I think maybe the only thing that kind of hurts them is not having a true number one receiver.
I know a lot of people who I follow who speak about the Bills, talked about some of the trade deadline rolls and people that they could acquire.
I think this might be a situation where they should consider getting Dez Bryant.
You know, someone of a playmaker that might be able to change their fortunes on that receiver position.
I know a lot of people don't think he has a lot of the tank.
Career has been kind of cut short a little bit.
I think he's definitely capable of coming in and playing well for a team.
And, you know, I think he'd enjoy playing for the Buffalo Bills, a contender with a strong defense.
Next game we have is the Tennessee Titans at the Carolina Panthers this game.
I actually thought that the times we're gonna be able to pull off this victory.
Tana Ho had two interceptions.
The often made a lot of mistakes.
It was a very tough game on there, and it was great bounce back game for the Carolina Panthers, who their defense was able to, you know, keep Tannehill and check and, you know, allow that McCaffrey and Alan in the offense to really get into rhythm.
McCaffrey has been for all intensive purposes.
The Carolina Panthers offense.
It's so impressive.
Just the bulk of the carries he gets on 24 carries, 146 yards, two touchdowns, three receptions, 20 yards touchdown.
It's just one of those things where you see it, and it's it's amazing that you have a player of that caliber.
But it's a little concerning because because of the fact that if McCaffrey suffers an injury, where does this put your offense? It's so predicated on McCaffrey, and I'm not saying it shouldn't be.
It's just you need to kind of get other facets of your game or other players more involved.
You know, you have deejay more courtesy Annuals and Greg Olsen, who's still producing at his stage of his career.
It's definitely something to keep an eye out for the Panthers, especially if they want to try to make a last late season run.
Cam Newton was just placed on I R.
So it's all in on a Kyle Allen and McCaffrey.
So I think this is going to be uninterested in the next couple of weeks to see how they handle the schedule and if they're able to make up a late playoff push.
Next we have is the Minnesota Vikings at the chief's.
Pull out that victory 26 23.
Another blemish on Kirk Cousins is Kirk Cousins resume as to getting victories and tough games against teams over 500.
It's something that has how kind of haunted him over his career.
This game should have been one that they were able to pull out.
I don't know what's going on with the fund exact.
I don't know if it's, you know, maybe Kirk Cousins that hitting up this Chiefs defense being ableto t keep cousins in check because he only completed 50% of his passes.
The kelp Donovan Cook and check 70 under 70 71 yards rushing.
It's It's very concerning to me that the Bragging couldn't obtain care of the Chiefs with the chief's defense kind of being injured, and you know they're secondary being torched every other week.
I think this is a big blemishing Aaliyah set for Kirk Cousins.
You need to get these victories.
I know you didn't have feeling, but Stefan Days is the more than capable receiver to get things going.
You know, Donovan Cook ran the ball.
You know better than, you know, an average running back, you know.
But this was a resilient victory for the Chiefs.
You know, it's showing that, you know, as much as my home's a huge credit to their offense, a lot of it does kind of go with the team itself.
You know, it's my home is the general of this team, but they still have pieces that can get the victory.
Matt Moore has played exceptionally well, you know.
He's played the ball safe 25 35 275 yards and a touchdown.
Damian Williams has also a game 125 yards rushing touchdown.
You know something that this team had been missing with? My home's a little bit a strong running game, and it was kind of funny that, you know, after his injury against the Broncos, the defense kind of stepped up and kind of turned up that next level.
So it'll be interesting to see moving forward since Patrick Holmes was coming back or it looks like it since he was a full participant and practiced today.
But yeah, very impressed with the Chiefs.
Huge, huge, huge downer for the Chiefs as that puts them at six and three *** and second in the NFC North with behind the Green Bay Packers.
Then we have the New York Jets visiting the Miami Dolphins.
Dolphins finally got their first victory, 26 18.
Just a miserable showing from Sam Darling Company.
They weren't able to get much going on the offensive side.
Sam Donald has turned the ball way too many times for him to be a first round pick of his position.
I think it should be very concerning for this for this offense.
Think Adam Gates and company have to simplify this offense a little bit.
Stop trying to put Sam Darnold into these positions.
He's clearly, you know, came off his injury, had one good game against Cowboys, but since then has just been very sloppy.
Not been ableto get to the 2nd 3rd reads or even throw accurately, for that matter in a levy on Belle. You know, running.
Yeah, 66 yards on the ground.
But you know, you got to get some of your your star players more while like Levy a bell on it needs to get a little bit more involved, and I mean, he definitely had a 145 at least 100 50 yards overall, which is great, but you have to be able to get him in a position.
Thio get more yards after the catch.
Gotta break this defense that the Dolphins themselves are a team that's in a complete rebuild.
This team has been exposed multiple times throughout the season, very concerning for the Jets.
And I know Jets came in with a lot of expectations.
But this is just of rough season for the Jets, something that I don't think they expected.
And congrats to the Dolphins and their first year head coach.
You got their first victory.
That was an impressive way to get it out of Ah, really New York Jets team.
Next I have is the Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles Now.
Evils took care of the Bears in a fashion that I was just not expecting.
I predicted that the Bears defense was gonna be able to hold up, but this Bears defense has been exposed over the last couple of weeks.
I think it's super concerning for this team because if Travis Keys not able to perform, you know the running game has its days where they won't perform very well.
The defense used to be the thing that they would lean on, and now it's turning into all right.
That defense is being exposed.
I believe Akeem Hicks might still be out.
Maybe maybe being on the field too much cause Strabinsky turns the ball over that, you know, get much on his drives.
For the Bears, there are their defense is to be their cornerstone.
Now their defense.
Can't even, you know, contain the team enough for them to get a victory.
But even then, Travis Key has just been atrocious.
He's not ableto make accurate throws first, and second reads are just terrible.
Alan Robinson at one cash and he's your number one receiver, someone you should be going to against a Eagle secondary that has been exposed multiple times of season.
Very rough to see this, then we have, ah, for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jordan Howard has really solidified himself as a lead back for them.
19 carries, 82 yards and a touchdown knows Acker.
It's kind of got himself going again.
Nine receptions, 103 yards and a touchdown a lot of things are going in the right direction for the Eagles.
You know, things were training, but bad for the Bears.
But I'm very impressed with this eagle scene.
They have a lot of open their ups and downs during the season, but you know, they're right there in the thick of it with the Cowboys.
Only, I believe, ah, gained back.
So it's something to definitely look at.
But the's Eagles are very impressive, you know, because they had to have their shortcomings, a receiver and that corner and have still been able to keep themselves above 500.
Next thing we have is the Detroit Lions at the Oakland Raiders.
On previous dreams.
After this carry on Johnson injury, I did say that the Detroit Lions were gonna strip struggle mightily.
I just know that you know Matthew Stafford can throw the ball over the field, You know, he's proven that over the years, you know, sometimes you do need to run the ball.
You do need to kill some of the clock you needed win the the time of possession battle, which, in this one if I'm looking at it, was won by the Raiders, 30 to 27 minutes.
So it was just something that I think is very important, especially in pacing with games.
You definitely don't want to burn out your defense.
You don't wantto, um, put them in a position where they're gonna be, you know, not a full speed because of, you know, just trying to catch your breath, You know, being on field so much.
But Derek are played exceptionally well.
289 yards, two touchdowns.
Jacobs has been a revelation of a first round picks that yards in two touchdown.
On that side, Oakland Raiders looked like a team that could be scary, but they do have the Achilles heel of their secondary being very susceptible to being picked apart.
Next, we have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Seattle Seahawks.
Seahawks got that victory in overtime, 40 to 34.
This is one of those games where James Winson teases that he has the ability to be a franchise quarterback.
You know, he played exceptionally well against a Seahawks defense that has been hot and pulled this whole season.
Russell Wilson, you know, was able to keep his team in it, even though you know, Jameis Winston was on fire in this game.
It was very impressive for me to see this team, you know, still being resilient, still not giving up on a tough season so far.
But you know, Russell Wilson is just adding more and more to his M v P case.
The way he played in this game did not allow himself to be pushed out.
You know, not allow this team to get out of the game, and you know it was able to get them, you know, into overtime and also to get them that game winning touchdown.
Next we have is the Cleveland Browns at the Denver Broncos.
Broncos got that victory 24 19.
I said in my last strain that you know, the Browns have a Broncos team with you with a young quarterback.
They traded their best receiver there, completely demoralized.
They can't mess this up.
They mess this up.
The baker Mayfield is, you know, he's just not being that feisty playmaker.
He was last year.
And it's funny because when you look at the stats from last year from his starts to this year, they're very similar and I think a lot of us may have just been caught with the the feet, the allure of like a brown stain finally being good again, like back when they had, I believe it was, um, lose up forgetting his name.
But back when the Browns actually had a 10 win season, it's an unfortunate situation for the for the Browns.
Part of me wants to believe it's just like a really bad sop****re slump, even though the numbers are very similar, I just think bigger.
Maybe Lindsay struggled immensely to see the season.
It's It's been very tough to watch, you know, especially someone who I personally thought the Browns were going to be a big threatened.
They have seen North with the Ravens and Steelers that that was gonna be a three way race.
But it's been anything. But.
I don't know what's gonna happen with that moving forward.
Freddie Kitchens is gonna be on the hot seat busy, very well branded on.
You know, I was able to get no fan very involved in the offense that was encouraging to see him score a touchdown.
I know that he had been someone that you know hadn't been producing like the way that you would expect from a round pick.
It was an impressive like game from any kind of left, a little bit Kronk like I didn't want him too much credit on that.
But he definitely looked like a force out there.
And that's very encouraging for this Broncos team was trying to figure out who's gonna be kept on this roster for the new year.
Very impressed with that performance by no offense.
Then we have the Green Bay Packers at the Los Angeles Chargers Chargers getting upset.
I was by far very surprised watching this game.
It was impressive to see the Chargers just keep this Green Bay offense at A.
This offense had just played so well over the past couple weeks.
You just thought that they were gonna go on a roll and not be able to stop.
But it was, You know, this the edge rushers they have of Ingram and boast that was just ferocious.
They definitely got, you know, in Roger's face, you know, they were never let the other receivers kind of get going.
It was just a great game from them.
Melvin Gordon had a really good bounce back game.
He's kind of struggled since his holdout ended.
But one thing I wanted to point out.
Philip Rivers, you know, 294 yards of the air.
Keenan Keenan Allen had three receptions for 40.
Now it's concerning in the regard that this is their number one receiver.
Very dynamic playmaker.
You know, I know they have Mike Williams and all they have Hunter Henry, but it's very peculiar to me that they haven't been getting car on more of all, whether it's screen passes does that, you know, I think that will be something, though definitely focused on, you know, especially if they want to make a latte, a late push to try to get themselves in a position to fight for a wild card spot.
But you know, it definitely has to be a full team participation with Hunter, Henry, Mike Williams and Philip Rivers, and you know they're doing moneybags.
That's Heckler and Gordon.
Next game we have here is the New England Patriots at the Baltimore Ravens.
Ravens had an ah great upset victory against the Patriots.
Their defense stifle deep Patriots offense.
The Patriots defense wasn't able to contain Lamar Jackson.
And a lot of people are going to say that, you know, this is the first team that the Patriots played, so, you know, proves that this record isn't riel.
At the end of the day, you know, it's what's on paper, you know that.
That doesn't say anything.
The on paper jet should have defeated the Dolphins very easily, but I think that has a lot more to do with, you know, coming out there and having a strong coach team that can be resilient and handle whatever comes their way.
You know, unfortunately for them in the well, really got things going.
Lamar Jackson had a hell of a game.
But you know, not anything that I would be worried about if I was a Patriots fan.
You know that. Your team's gonna be just fine.
But it's definitely a shining highlight for Lamar Jackson this year.
To really show up in a big game and, you know, give Belichick his first loss to a quarterback age 24 younger, which I thought was like crazy stat to think that no young quarterback under 24 had beaten him before.
It believe he's now 24 1 So kudos to Lamar Jackson.
You had a hell of a game.
Next, we have the Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants.
Early on in this game, it seemed like it was gonna be a very shoot out.
Like in Daniel Jones.
That seemed to be no kind of getting things going.
This offense was really driving on the Cowboys, but have all the tools to be a great team, their defenses exceptional.
I think they have a potential to be a shutdown team.
They just haven't gotten to that aspect yet.
But I definitely think the Cowboys, you know, they needed to get this victory because if they didn't giant would be one game out.
And, you know, for the Cowboys, it's just, you know, you've gotta solidify yourself on top.
It's This is a make or break season.
The owner of the Cowboys has yet to say anything about Garrett being on the hot seat.
But you know, after all these years of coaching, you expect to get, you know, make a really strong Super Bowl run.
I mean, you have Zeke and Lamari Cooper.
Michael gallops really emerged Receiver Connor borrowing Connors come in and been a great number two tight end.
It's something that toe look at for the Cowboys.
You know, it was a great victory, but you know, it's going to be interesting seeing this team down the line to see which team is the one that shows up.
But for the Giants, I don't think they're really thinking playoffs at this point.
They're just trying to see what they have with all their players.
You know, Slater's been more involved in the offense, and it's great to see, you know, unfortunate that it's at the expense of Shepherd being out with concussion.
But, you know, they definitely have a good team they can build on.
It's just, you know, figuring out what pieces to add for the Giants moving forward.
All right, that is it for this stream.
This is Alex from unwrap Sports
