Bailey of the unwraps sports network.
Thank you for joining me right here on SportsCastr Live.
There's a lot to digest from this past week of NFL action, and the one that people love pointing out to me is the result of Sunday night's game come between Baltimore and New England.
Because if you're here for the streams leading up to this week Ah, you heard me say how much Lamar Jackson was gonna struggle, How bad the Patriots were gonna beat the Ravens.
How it wasn't gonna be a contest, and I was kind of right about that.
It was just the fact that it wasn't a contest because the Ravens just dismantling the wing Clinton every aspect imaginable.
Look, a soon as the game was over, I tweeted I'm sorry.
And then I added Lamar Jackson because here's the thing.
Yeah, I don't think one that Lamar is a sustainable pastor in this league.
They don't throw the ball downfield.
I'm gonna talk about this a little bit more, Remember, Do power rankings? Um, they don't throw the ball downfield with Lamar, a za pastor.
He still got a long ways to go, but I will say this when the Ravens drafted Lamar Jackson.
Um, this whole offseason, they really just dedicated to where it is going to stick to helping him do what he does best as well as you can.
We're gonna give Give him the pieces to do it.
They got those three big tight ends they brought in.
Mark Ingram, Uh, help in the run game.
They, uh, upgraded their offensive line at the tackle positions, so they knew.
Hey, he runs extremely well, among the best that we've seen in the quarterback position.
So let's just take advantage of that.
It might not be conventional.
We might get some pushback from guys like me talking heads who just don't think it's gonna go well, but they've been making it work.
And as much as I thought the New England's gonna go into M and T Bank and just dismantle the Ravens, Lamar Jackson played great.
Um, now, like I said, passing wise, it wasn't anything spectacular.
Never really is with Lamar.
I was, you know, we look back a week one against Miami won 17 of 23 I think 1 63 yards.
1 73 somewhere in that range.
And then the study, the touchdown pass.
Um, they also to rushing touchdown 16 cares for 63 yards.
So they've really just centered around the fact that Lamar's gonna run.
Now we're gonna be okay with them running, or we're gonna base our offense around him running.
And as much as I don't think it's gonna I don't think it's gonna last.
Here's the I think that is gonna work for now, Like as long as Lamar stays healthy, then it's gonna last for them.
But it's not gonna last long term.
It's not gonna last 10 years with Lamar Jackson because eventually he's gonna slow down.
Um, he's gonna get slower over time and eventually is not gonna be as dynamic as a runner.
So event he's gonna have to become a better passer.
That's gonna come with time.
But I think for right now Baltimore's is acknowledging the fact that hey, let's just take advantage of this right now.
The passing will come in time, but for now, let's just take advantage of the fact that he can run like an elk and he's hard to bring down because about fast.
He's faster than everybody on the field, so let's take advantage of that.
So props to the Ravens for making me eat my words.
Process. Lamar Jackson for playing well.
I'd set my cap to you, sir.
Ravens are not sitting at six and two, and we'll see what happens Come playoff time and we'll talk about the standings in a little bit.
But first, as we do after every completed week of NFL action, we will give power rankings, and I'm going to start with number 10.
Uh, put the Carolina Panthers number 10 like they bounce back in a big way after that embarrassing loss at the hands of the San Francisco 40 Niners.
They go when they beat a good Tennessee Titans team.
You seem to have found new life after Ryan Tannehill took over a quarterback and I never thought I would say that a team found new life with Ryan Tannehill.
But the Danes have been playing well as of late, and the Panthers went in.
Their defense continues to play well.
They're really shut down the Titans offense, for the most part, Christian McCaffrey's playing incredible.
He's my M v p of the season so far, but things that he's doing.
He's on pace to do better than LaDainian Tomlinson did in his 2006 on BP campaign season.
So, UM, I love Christine McCaffrey.
He is the best player in football right now.
Just the things that he's doing.
Without him, the Panthers are maybe a one or two win team.
The things that Chris McCaffrey's been doing this season are ungodly, and the Panthers in the playoffs mix because of it.
So did you have a tough stretch coming? They start with Green Bay in America's game of the week.
That's on Fox this coming week, so we'll see what happens there.
But their schedule is a is pretty brutal.
The second half S o.
I think for right now they're gonna be at number 10.
Do I think that at last No.
I think that eventually they're gonna kind of fall out of a playoff specially come like week 13 or 14.
But Christian McCaffrey's gonna be doing this all year long.
I fool believing that.
So for another Panthers in number 10 number nine, I put the Rams back in here.
The past two games have outscored their opponents 61 to 20.
Ah, there on a buy this past week, but the game in London against Cincinnati? Yes, I know it was the Bangles, but that's the first time they've looked like the Rams of old.
Now that we've seen in the past.
All year long, Jared Goff was feeling at Cooper Cup was doing what he does with, um, that weird flea flicker and around type play that went for a touchdown was crazy.
Um, they finally look like they're getting in a groove, and I like what I'm seeing from them to go into Pittsburgh this coming week.
I think they're gonna win that game pretty handedly against the Steelers, who, as much as their defense had been playing great.
I just don't believe in that offense.
I don't believe in Mason Rudolph again.
It's not that I don't believe makes more often This is.
I don't believe in the play calling.
I think it's gonna get exploited by the Rams, and I think it's not.
I don't think it's gonna be that close with contest. Really.
I think it'll be around a 10 point win for the Rams and Pittsburgh.
They keep rolling, and I think ah the Rams are gonna be in that playoff mixed all year long.
I'll get into that morning.
We want to talk about the playoffs standings right now.
My predictions for that.
So random number nine.
Right now I have the Seahawks.
It's a It's a kind of a tumble this week.
Um, when we talked about when we talk about contenders and for the Super Bowl, I think see, I was kind of falling out of my teams who I think are true contenders just because their defense is isn't consistent enough for me to really say that there worthy of being true contenders there.
This is the first time in the Pete Carroll Air that they're relying on Russell Wilson a win games and not just not lose games.
Um, but he's playing great.
He's an EVP candidate.
He's playing out of his mind right now, Um, but they had to go to overtime to beat the pathetic Buccaneers.
Um, I just defense is to say, I loved you, Damon clowning.
I love Bobby Wagner, but in the secondary, what can you What can you do for me? The Seahawks aren't really too deep.
It's secondary right now, and I think that's gonna be kind of what keeps them from taking that next step.
Come playoff time.
I've said for weeks I think they're gonna be, um, locked in at the number five seed.
I think they're gonna get that first wildcard spot.
They're sitting at seven and two.
I don't think anybody's gonna take that away from them.
So I think that number one wild card spots kind of theirs because it just felt a little bit.
I got the chief's at seven.
And I don't have a problem saying that because they put up a great fight against the Packers, a team that I love.
Ah, and then they got and be a Viking.
Steve has been on a roll as of late with Matt Moore, a quarterback who's done a spectacular job filling in for Patrick.
Mom making great passes to Tyree kill for touchdowns.
That that long touchdown run.
And then you see, Tyree kills sprint on an hour that was impressive on its own.
I could do an entire video on just that.
Um, but they did this all without Frank Clark is well or top pass rusher.
Uh, getting guys come back from injuries.
Chris Jones came back.
I know what Patrick.
My hopes comes back. I feel like that is gonna go on a roll.
Um, in a weaker division this year.
And now the Raiders were solid.
The Chargers are starting to come back into the room.
We'll see what they do if they have that late season push that I projected them to have, as they usually d'oh.
But I think right now it's just kind of the chief's division to lose.
And when Patrick hopes comes back, which we expect him to be back there next game, Um, I think there is gonna continue to roll.
I don't think they win this week.
I thought that it would take another week for them to start this role if they're about to go on.
But they started it this week with Matt Moore at the helm.
So congratulations to the Chiefs there.
Number seven, and they're only gonna keep climbing.
I have the Texans in number six.
DeShaun Watson is out of this world.
He's an EVP candidates me.
I would vote him over to right now for M v p.
Just the things that he's doing for the Texans, they lose J.
What? They don't miss a beat.
They go into London to be the Jaguars, where the Jaguars are very hard to beat in London.
They always win in London and Shawn Watson goes out play spectacular once again.
And the Texans get a very impressive win against solid Jaguars team, and it wasn't competitive whatsoever throughout.
So as long as you show on Watson's at the home, I think they're gonna be great now in terms of being a contender, their secondary has a lot of proving me, um, their offense.
That's kind of been a kind of a flip flop flip flop here.
I mean, in pastures.
What can their offense do? Their defense is going to carry them now is the offense is kind of carrying them now Without J J.
Watt, offense has really got to step up more, and guys on defense is really gonna have to step up more.
Um, but John wasn't playing great over 2400 yards, 18 touchdown passes to five picks.
He's playing out of his mind.
The things that he can do, um, to extend the play reminds me a lot of a young Ben Roethlisberger.
I love what I'm seeing from him.
I love what he's doing with his offense, the techniques of number six.
I said before last week, I would not be surprised at all if the Chargers were to beat the Packers, and I didn't.
Wasn't surprised about when they did beat the Packers Packers still number five.
I'm not worried about it at all.
Um, each team is gonna have that lost throughout the year, where it's just kind of all right, you know, is a loss, too, a team that we shouldn't have lost, too.
But, um, it happens in the NFL.
Any given Sunday team can win, and this is one of those weeks.
I'm not worried about the Packers at all.
It was a long road trip.
Aaron Rodgers even said they need to figure out they need to get better with how they handle these road trips.
Especially when you go to Los Angeles on guys want experience that night life.
I think that's what happened.
So I'm not worried about the Packers at all, eh? Rodders still playing phenomenal.
That combination at running back with Aaron Jones and Jamal Williams has been spectacular.
Ah, the charges kind of slowed that down a little bit, but even Jamal Williams kind of came alive on that fourth quarter with the touchdown.
So, uh, I like what I'm seeing from the running backs when Davante Adams is fully healthy.
I think that's gonna just add that better dynamic to their offense.
So on defensively, they have a great pass rush.
Um presence, myth.
Za'darius Smith, that young secondary with sa***e and drabs.
Alexander, I think that they're doing great.
We had a great offseason getting all those guys together and giving Aaron Rodgers of defense again.
They're still sitting at seven and two.
They're not gonna go 15 and one.
Each team is gonna lose again that they should probably win.
And the Chargers on a bad team.
They were my preseason victor win the Super Bowl, and I thought they would kind of have this kind of late season surge, as they usually do.
And that's what we're seeing right now.
They're they want two in a row, and, um, they just happen to be the Packers at home.
So I'm not worried about Green Bay at all.
they're still sitting pretty at seven into a top division.
So Packers number five the Patriots are still holding at four.
I think I've had them before for the past, like three weeks.
So look, this is their first legit competition, where they were solid on both sides of the ball and they got exploited.
Um, I've said all year, Let's see who they play.
And let's kind of judge it off the competition because throughout the year they've played a bunch of D teams.
Uh, you know, Lamar Jackson isn't Ryan.
Fitzpatrick is not Luke Falk.
Um, he's not Colt McCoy.
Whoever they're playing threat throughout the year there.
They're not a bad Jets team.
The Ravens are for real.
And like I said, coming to the week I talked a lot of smack.
I thought the Patriots we gotta just dismantle them.
And Lamar Jackson shut me up.
And, um, I got no problem.
Meaning when I'm wrong. And this is one of the times I was wrong.
Um, the Patri Stevens got exploited a lot.
They'll have 37 points.
They didn't look good.
Um, there's real problems with this Patriots team, though.
Um, banged up offensive line that can't protect Tom Brady.
They need to be able to start pushing the ball downfield more.
Um, and it got exploited this past week.
Am I worried about the Patriots? No.
Because I know that I've got no reason to be because of past history.
So if this continues to be a trend where, um, the offensive line continues to be a problem which, until they get fully healthy, I think we're gonna see these kind of, um, these guys situations where Tom Brady's not getting as much time is usually would with a fully healthy offensive line.
They're missing Isaiah win.
Um, but right now the Patriots still number four.
They're still saying eight and one and division, they're gonna win.
Ah, I don't expect the bills to really catch them.
So Page, it's number four.
As of right now, they do have very obvious problems.
But knowing the Patriots, they're gonna get him fixed.
And the number three is those Baltimore Ravens.
Look, as I said, I don't think this is a type of play that's gonna last 10 years.
I think it'll last a Max of five before Lamar Jackson starts taking some hits.
So it's getting dinged up, and then she's gonna tow, become a more refined passer.
So But as of right now, they deserve all the credit.
The world. They went out. They beat the Patriots.
Not a lot of people expected them to do that.
Mark Jackson's running all over the place, making plays with his feet.
They're playing great defense is looking a lot better than I thought they would.
Um, so Baltimore is really playing well.
They've shut me up a lot there. Number three.
I still the same sitting in number two.
They're coming off that bye week.
Uh, they have a game against Atlanta this week and dinged up Falcons team is missing Matt Ryan, who's sitting on one in seven.
So I got no, um, worries off with Saints this week.
It is a contender division game, so anything could really happen.
But Drew Brees doesn't look like he's missed a second after being out for over a month blade great against the Cardinals in their last game.
Ah, they do rely a lot on Michael Thomas.
I think they are kind of missing that vertical past game.
They do kind of get ah few place from Ted Ginn, but I think they need another receiver.
Um, Michael Thomas and that offense I'm in command has been dealing with some injuries, so we'll see how that plays into their offense of game plan.
But I like the Saints a lot defensively.
That could be a little better in the secondary. Other.
Marshawn Lattimore is great.
They don't really have.
I'm a guy who could compliment him too well, they've given up a few decent place in the past game, so I still like the same.
So I think they're probably the best all around Russia in football.
And the number one is those 40 Niners who still remain undefeated.
They did show a little bit of cracks in that defense against the Cardinals.
Kyla Murray played really well.
Andy Isabel of the rookie had a long touchdown reception, so a lot of rookies kind of tore them up a little bit.
But each to her sort of historical defense is gonna have kind of a Doug game.
The Patriots just have one of 40 Niners kind of had bears.
It just so happened that Jimmy Garoppolo had arguably the best game of his career four touchdown passes and carry them to a win.
So it's nice to see that the defense isn't always gonna carry them to, and Jimmy Garoppolo could come in and do that when he needs to.
For the 40 Niners.
So they were meant undefeated there a minute.
Number one in the power rankings.
So to recap number 10 the Carolina Panthers number nine.
The Rams ate the Seahawks.
Seven. The chief's six.
The Texans five.
The Packers for the Patriots. Three.
The Ravens to the Saints won the 40 Niners.
So all right, I do want to talk a little bit about the current playoff standings as they are right now, so we look at the A F.
Number one seed will be the Patriot.
Always go one through 61 through six for the A F. C. Right now.
Patriots, Ravens, Texans, Chiefs, Bills.
Colts last to being the wild card teams and they look at 78 the 1st 2 out, the Steelers and Raiders, both sitting at four and four.
Now we look at the remaining schedules for each team.
Now, this is where it gets interesting because I had the bills and coats penciled in as my wild card teams.
Regardless of what happened, I just didn't think Pittsburgh would have enough to get there.
But now, after they beat the Colts now coming a week, I said they would beat the Colts with this.
Before that, I knew that Jacoby percent would get hurt and we don't know what was gonna happen there.
Brian ***** is gonna lead them into again.
Gets Jacksonville this week again that I think they lose with Brian, who are at the helm.
Nick Foles coming back, um, and relieve the government you.
So I think that Jackson was gonna get a win there, so that would move the coats to five and four.
Now, let's say Pittsburgh's somehow beats the I don't think they're gonna be the rants.
But if they do beat the Rams, that puts Pittsburgh.
And at that six spot, and then we look at the remaining schedule for the Indianapolis Colts.
If I have it here with me, they got Jacksonville this coming week, and then they dio at Houston at New Orleans, Carolina at Jacksonville, just some notable games left for the coat.
So that's not gonna be easy stretch.
I don't think they beat Houston twice.
So say they lose to Jacksonville right there. That's five and four.
I think they lose to Houston.
That's five and five.
I don't think they go into New Orleans when that's five and six.
I think I'll probably beat Carolina, so we'll put them around six and six.
Add Jacksonville, maybe seven and six.
So you look at that schedule right there.
That's 7 to 6 with their notable games remaining.
Um, not to say that they come lose any more games.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Indianapolis sitting around at nine and 78 and eight.
Mark, Um, and that would leave me to look at the Pittsburgh remaining schedules a lot easier.
One of the easier stretches schedules down the stretch.
They played the Bills like the Cardinals.
I'm sorry that played majestic by the Cardinals.
The Bills won't be easy.
Um, we play the Browns twice.
I think they probably split those, um, but Pittsburgh has a lot easier with scheduled in the Colts, and if they do end up in a tiebreaker situation, Pittsburgh's gonna get that type right here.
because of the head to head matchup, So that leaves a very interesting stipulation.
Another do you want to talk about is the Bills, because the Bills for some they're sitting at six and two.
But I just can't buy into them because their offense like this might be.
This is gonna sound stupid.
This might be the worst six and two team I've ever watched.
They just can't get a convincing what they don't have a convincing win.
So far, each win has been somewhat closely, even against the Redskins, 24 to 9.
That's not that overwhelming over a bad Washington team.
And I get Josh Alan, look OK, you have the touch invested Cole, Beasley and another touch on tests later on in game.
I don't remember who, too, but 24 to 9 over a really bad Washington.
D My God, it's two possessions, but I feel like eventually they need a win that is just blowing a team out of the water.
And they haven't really done that yet this year.
Um, so I think that race is gonna be very interesting to see what happens in the wild card spot.
Um but I think that the Patriots doorman and the number one seed throughout the year.
Uh, Baltimore still has a really rough stretch.
Um, we look at the Ravens remaining schedule.
We pull that up, they just beat New England.
So they also the host Houston and then at Los Angeles, host San Francisco at Buffalo at Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
So I don't think they I think they'll lose to Houston.
I just like to Shawn Watson too much. I think they lose to Houston.
I think it's gonna be really fun game to watch.
But I think they lose to use.
And I think they lose to the Rams.
I just don't I just don't know, man.
I think that they lose at least three of those, and that puts them at five losses.
Um, now do we say that they beat Pittsburgh twice in a year? Do we say that? Um, though, come back, they'll bounce back and beat Cleveland, cause as of right now, they look a lot better than the brown to do.
I think we can all agree on that.
Um, but just the fact that I'm not trying to be a hater still, because, you know, I get that.
I'm kind of bias is a Steelers fan, but you know, as it sits right now Barnum or is the heavy odds on favorite to win the division at like 92%.
So I mean, after beating New England, it's hard to say, but I still think that they lose to Houston.
I think they lose at Los Angeles, and I think that, um, that San Francisco defense is too wanted to take on, so I think those are still these three losses right there for them.
I think they beat Buffalo.
They should be Cleveland and they should be Pittsburgh.
So I mean, as of right now, and have them finishing around 10 and 6 11 and five somewhere in there.
But it's hard to tell with the Ravens just because I feel like I still don't really believe in their defense too much, and eventually he's gonna have to pass to win a game.
I feel like they're gonna get down and eventually he's gonna have to pass to win a game.
And I feel like that's gonna happen against Houston where John watches gonna kind of take over.
They'll get down early and Lamar won't be able to pass them back into a game.
So, uh, as of right now, I have been going around 10 and 6 11 5 Um, something I didn't expect to happen at the beginning of the year.
But that went against the page has changed a lot.
So a F c As of right now, it's a tight race Now.
Watch out for those Oakland Raiders, too, though, because, you know, last year when they traded Khalil Mack and all this stuff went down, finishing four and 12 they're sending a 44 and now a win over a very solid Lions team whose record is not who they are.
They shouldn't have at least one more win after that horrible loss against the Packers due to the illegal, handsome face call.
Um, so the lines are a tough team playing in a very tough division.
That was a very good home win for the Raiders.
For some, they've played at home in, like, a month and 1/2 or something like that.
So the Raiders right in the mix, too.
Well, look at the NFC, obviously.
San Francisco number one Saints to Packers.
Three Cowboys for Seahawks five, Biking six.
I don't think the Vikings hold that spot.
I think Kurt Cousins isn't clutch enough.
That has lost a game to Matt Moore and the Chiefs at Arrowhead.
It's a road, but still, when you're playing against Matt Moore, if you like, that should be a one.
Their remaining games to get at Dallas at Seattle at the Chargers, Green Bay in Chicago again.
So I don't think Minnesota wins too many more games.
I think they finish around nine and 788 and that's gonna open the door for the Rams to come in and take that six spot from them.
I think that's what happens.
I think we get three NFC East team of three NFC West teams in this year.
I think the 40 Niners have finished still atop the NFC at number one, and I think the Seahawks and Rams will take those last two spots.
So justcause Minnesota schedules too brutal.
I don't believe that cowboys at all.
I think the Eagles are going to kind of come and take that away.
Just because the Cowboys remaining schedule compared to the Eagles remaining together was a lot more difficult if we look at Dallas.
They got Minnesota, the Lions at New England, Buffalo at Chicago, a Rams at Philadelphia.
And then we look at the Eagles remaining schedule.
They got the Patriots, Seahawks and Cowboys.
Is there notable games left? The rest of that? It's kind of easy picking, and the Cowboys were sending a five and four.
Dallas is, what, five and three.
So Dallas hasn't really impressed me.
Too much is here, and they didn't look good on Monday night.
Don't let that score four year.
That was a close game until the fourth quarter is 16 15 at one point, and it just kind of got blown open later on in the fourth quarter.
So I'm not too impressive.
They got a far tougher stressing the Eagles do.
Ah, the Eagles schedules kind of front loaded.
Um, so I think the Eagles kind of come in and win that division.
If I'm guessing right now, I would say the NFC finishes off.
Um, I think before that I was gonna lose a few tubes.
They got decent, um, remaining schedule.
Do they got Green Bay at Baltimore at New Orleans.
The Rams and Seahawks. So I think they lose.
Ah, few of those.
And I think the Saints just keep winning.
I like the Saints a lot.
They got somewhat of remaining easy remaining schedule.
They only have three tough games when I look at it.
They got the 40 Niners coats at Carolina as their only three tough games.
That's kind of easy picking for the Saints, too.
So if I'm guessing right now, the NFC finishes Saints one.
Niners, three Eagles for Seahawks five, Rams six.
And if I'm guessing right now, I would say the A F C finishes with the Patriots up at number one and then I would d'oh Colts.
I'm sorry, I would go Chiefs, Texans and Ravens as the division winners.
I still think the Bills were gonna be in at five because their schedule isn't too crazy difficult, and I think they're still gonna find a way to win these close games and then as it right now, I mean, the Colts, with that injury, I wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers and Raiders made a run at that six spot, depending on how long Jacoby for sets out.
So and not to mention T y Hilton is out for another 3 to 4 weeks with that calf injury, So I think that's gonna be detrimental.
So they got no Jacoby percent.
I just think that it's gonna be too much for the close to overcome.
So I want to be surprised at all if the Steelers or Raiders made a run of that six spot in the A F C.
So we got a lot of season left.
It's going by pretty fast.
We still got a lot left.
So close out the show.
I do want to talk about some coaches better on the hot seat.
Um, a few of them being Dan Quinn, Freddie Kitchens, Adam Gaze, Pat Shurmur and I assume Bill Callahan won't be back in Washington.
Um, like Dan Quinn.
I don't know what's happening in Atlanta, but Dan Quayle they're sending a one in seven Matt Ryan out with injury right now.
Um, I think he's gonna be on his way out.
I think Freddie Kitchen and gays are both gonna be one and done, and Cleveland and New York.
Now Pat Shurmur is an interesting one, because if you are, Dave Gentleman.
You just drafted Daniel Jones.
Do you keep Pat Shurmur around for at least another year to see how Daniel Jones can progress? Because Dana drugs played well this season.
Um, and his rookie year.
So I like what I'm seeing from Dante Jones.
Um, and then I assume Bill Cowan is gonna be gone.
We're gonna try to find somebody else come in. Washington.
So very interesting situation to see the coaches on the hot seat.
I think there's really I think there's Dan Quinn will be gone, Freddie kitchens will be gone, and I think Adam Gates will be.
I think those are three that we can definitely say will be out this year, which is a lot less than what we've seen in past years.
So it will definitely be easy interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks for those coaches.
So thank you very much for watching I'm Jerry Bailey, the Unwrap Sports network.
We'll talk very soon.
Your fantasy advice going into the weekend right here on SportsCastr Live, coming up later in the week. So thank you for watching.
We'll talk soon, but
