What's up, guys? Um, I'm going to assume that maybe more people will start joining. We'll see.
All right, so ravens sign De'anthony.
Thomas, Um, wide receiver slash returner, kick returner, slash punt returner.
Um, so it seems like a lot of ravens flock is divided, their very divided on this signing.
From what I've seen, at least some people are very excited about it.
They're like, yes, we got a good returner who can also double is a receiver.
What's up, Chris? Thank you for joining men.
Um, they say, you know, this can add another level to our offense, Another weapon to the offense.
Some people are saying that you know what? He's maybe not a good addition, because in the past, he's had fumbling issues, so I don't know.
I mean, to be honest with you, Do I know much about the Anthony Thomas? No, I really I honestly do not know that much or at all.
Um, so what I'm gonna do where I do have this stats here, his career stats, which we're gonna be taking a look at it.
I know numbers don't tell the whole story, So believe me, that's not what I'm saying.
When I saw this, I thought he would be Someone on.
The defense was a stud in college.
That's what I've heard, that he was very good in college.
I think he went to Oregon.
If I'm not mistaken, so I mean, we do tend to do pretty well with players.
And I know wide receiver hasn't been our strongest suit ever.
Think, you know? But we with David Collie being the coach for the receivers and him, you know, he used to be with the Chiefs.
So maybe he has some familiar familiarity with De'anthony Thomas.
So maybe we'll be able to get something out of him.
I guess we'll just have to find out.
So But yeah, I did hear he was a very, you know.
He was a very good player in college When he came to the league, He you know, he's had some plays.
I do remember him being on the chief's. I.
I think I actually like a long time ago, I picked him up in fantasy and he did pretty good for me.
So Ah, that's but that's As far as I know about him, that's that's the extent of my knowledge about him.
Which is why I brought up his stets.
Um, I think we should not only use them to return, but get him on the field with Hollywood both very fast.
Yeah, that's where a lot of people say are saying that he brings speed.
So if we do decide to use them in the offense, you know, obviously pairing him with Hollywood would add another dimension that would make this offense even more dangerous.
You know, it's it's It's a good possibility.
Obviously, did we have to cut someone for this? Yes, we did, Chris.
Actually, Maurice Kennedy, believe it or not, which was kind of a surprise to me because I thought the Maurice Kennedy.
While he's been inconsistent, he hasn't been the greatest.
Um, he's played okay this year.
You know, I I was talking trash about him, calling him burnt toast, saying he just wasn't a good corner, but he was playing all right this year.
I know he didn't get hurt at the end of the Bengals game if I'm not mistaken, Um, so that might be related to why we cut him.
So Ah, Maurice Canady is the odd man out, surprisingly enough, and we filled it with De'anthony Thomas.
So let's let's let's take a look at his stats over his career.
Um, and then we'll get into why I think we signed him.
So as a returner in punt returns, he has a total of 85 returns for 751 yards and one touchdown as a punt.
Return it for kick returns.
He has 58 returns, 1422 yards, no touchdowns.
His longest kick return was 78 yards pretty good.
His longest punt return was 81 yards, So not bad.
It seems like he he could be explosive.
Maybe he can be, um, you know, he can actually be a good returner for us, which is something we're definitely missing.
Um, with the return of Jimmy, there wasn't much room for him.
Yeah, that's a good point.
I guess that is a good point.
Um, I guess I didn't think about it like that.
So, um but as a receiver, let's take a look at his stats as a receiver.
So over his career, he's been in the league since 2014 he's had 65 receptions, 509 yards and four touchdowns, and his longest reception was 57 yards.
So overall, I mean, not a spectacular receiver.
He's been decent, I guess.
You know, he's kind of been a just the bottom of the barrel guy, To be honest, I mean, maybe not bottom of the barrel, but just kind of not a starter or anything S o.
I don't know what to expect from the Anthony Thomas.
I know a lot of people are very hype because he bring speed.
He could potentially become our returner for the future or for this year.
You know, there's a bunch of possibilities.
I'm not sure what he's gonna bring to the table.
We'll have to see.
Ah, at this point, why not try something new? Yeah, and a lot.
So returners and need Another speedy, speedy receiver could be good.
Yeah, like I'm saying, it's it's It's a low, uh, low risk signing.
I think, uh, I'm not sure like how much we offer him or anything, or how long the contract is, but I mean, ah, I'm not upset about it, you know, it's it could be good.
It could be good.
He could be another weapon on the offense.
Like I said, he could solidify a return game.
If he actually turns out to be a good returner, as we've seen that he can be, he could be something special.
He could be something special, or he could just be what? Ah, you know, he's had a problem with fumbling.
We do tend to do pretty well with guys that have fumbling problems for some reason.
Uh, you know Alex Collins? I always think back to Alex Collins.
He was a guy that had fumbling issues and we brought him in and he actually, you know, he pretty much got rid of those.
So, you know, maybe that won't be a problem for us.
I'm hoping that it shouldn't be so hopefully he's not a bus like Devin Hester.
So yeah, it was a couple years back.
I remember that Devin Hester was just he didn't do anything for us, and it's funny because I think he signed later with another team.
I forgot what it was.
But he signed later with another team that same year.
And then he had, like, a kickoff return touchdown.
And it's like, Where was this Devin Hester all year for us, you know? So just another story, man.
Just another story of being a Ravens fan.
Um, he got cut after letting the ball land on the one, and we got a safety because of it.
That sounds about right.
I don't remember Devin Hester being too spectacular for us.
So but so De'anthony Thomas.
I think the main reason we brought him in is because Cyrus Jones he hasn't been anything special.
And I think the nail in the coffin was the fumble on Sunday against the Patriots.
I think that was the nail in the coffin that might be the end of him returning for us.
Ah, you know my my co host on my podcast Sonny from sug sports.
He's always talking about how he despises Cyrus Jones.
And he's, you know, he's tired of that guy.
He he wanted another returner.
I didn't think Cyrus Jones was that bad.
I mean, I know he was.
I knew he wasn't anything spectacular, but I didn't think it was that bad, but after that fumble, that's when you think okay, does he really offer anything like he's? Yeah, he's had a touchdown for us.
I believe, like last year, But aside from that, he hasn't really done much.
When he gets the ball, he's not anything special.
Um, he just goes to the sideline.
Mostly, he doesn't really break off any big runs.
He he's just nothing spectacular.
I know that he grew up in Baltimore, which is why a lot of people like him and a lot of people want to give him a chance.
But I do think that that fumble was the nail in the coffin for him.
I was surprised he's actually still in the roster.
I mean, I guess he's just gonna be depth. I don't know.
Maybe they're just gonna keep trying, keep rotating until, you know, hopefully De'anthony Thomas makes the ah you know, takes over.
So but Cyrus Jones, he would always It's always like he would either fair catch it or he would just let it sail right past him.
Uh, let it bounce on the ground.
He wouldn't really like I said, he was just there.
He was nothing spectacular.
He really wasn't.
So doesn't it seem like a bunch of great players always make a quick stop at Baltimore before their careers end? Dion, Ronnie Lott, Devin Hester I might have forgotten some people.
You are running a lot.
Didn't But yeah, I get what you're saying.
It seems like we do end up getting I mean, we always get those out of prime players.
Men like their way past their prime.
They're just, you know, that's that's the rave in way.
That's at least that's how we used to do it.
Probably not now, with uh with DaCosta being the GM.
But so hopefully De'anthony Thomas can at least be better than Cyrus Jones because Cyrus Jones was just he wasn't really anything, man.
He was unspent, tacular, like I said, didn't really add anything.
So if we can have another weapon as a returner, if the Anthony Thomas can actually add that that explosiveness to our return game, we're gonna be even more dangerous, team, because we already have the best offense in the league right now.
The best scoring offense and the defense is starting to come together.
You know, we've talked about that.
The defense is starting to find their rhythm, starting to find their legs were getting healthy at the right time.
So just imagine having a good return game, men that would make this team even more dangerous.
So I'm hoping, you know, I'm keeping optimistic for this De'anthony Thomas signing.
And ah, we'll just have to see what happens.
So gotta feel bad for Flacco.
Dude says something once in its two entire career and gets benched for I, Miss Jo.
I mean, I I mean, I don't necessarily Ms Jo, but I do.
I still have love for him, and I'm never gonna, you know, forget what he did for us.
He's He's my guy.
Um it seems like a lot of Ravens fans don't appreciate what he did for this organization.
Ah, they just think about the last few years that he was with us and which is fine.
I mean, but, you know, we've moved on.
Unfortunately, he was put in a ****ty situation in Denver, and it's sad, man.
It's a sad situation.
I do love Joe, man.
I'm never gonna forget what he did for us.
He's my guy, for sure.
But anyways, guys, um, I think that's gonna go ahead and do it.
I just want to do a little quick stream here on SportsCastr.
