Hello Lakers nation trouble laying here and today we're breaking down three keys for the Lakers to beat the Chicago Bulls.
That game is coming up Tuesday evening.
Lakers versus Bulls.
Look, if they can get the win here, that is six games in a row starting the season off of the six game winning streak.
Yeah, we're gonna forget about that opening night loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Six games in a row would be incredible for the Lakers would help secure their position atop the Western Conference.
I know a lot of you probably looking in the pools and saying, Yeah, they're not a very good team.
Probably not even making the playoffs in the East should be a cakewalk, right? Well, look, anything can happen in the n B.
Just look at what's going on tonight.
Monday evening, we've seen the Phoenix Suns.
Yes, the Phoenix Suns are now five.
And to knock off the Philadelphia 76 years handed them their first loss of the season.
Who could have predicted that? And the Golden State Warriors, who were missing everyone are basically playing G.
League players just beat the Portland Trail Blazers.
Amazing stuff So look, the n b a wild things can happen.
And if the Lakers don't show prepared, you never know.
The Chicago Bulls could steal one, so let's dive into it.
Let's talk a little bit about what the Lakers need to do in order to secure win over the Bulls.
First things first, though.
Hopefully, the Lakers have had plenty of this because they're gonna need some energy on the road.
You can find him at 7 11 gnc in amazon dot com.
Look, you guys have heard me talk about him.
Just about every single show up time.
Energy drinks. How energy should feel.
Make sure you guys go pick some up for yourself.
Okay, so three things.
Let's start with the pain.
Start with points in the paint.
That's where we have to turn to first.
This game and a lot of ways is very similar to their game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
In terms of the focal point here, points in the paint is going to be a big deal, so I want you guys to all keep an eye on how the Lakers do both scoring in the paint against the Bulls and offending the paint.
Now I've got some good news for you.
There's some reasonably that the Lakers will be pretty successful in the paint against these Chicago Bulls.
Let me give you some numbers here.
The Lakers are the fifth best team in giving up points in the paint.
That means there are only four teams in the entire N B A that make it more difficult to score in the paint than the Los Angeles Lakers do.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls sit at 25th in the N B A and points in the paint defense, which means they're pretty easy to score on in the paint.
That's good news for the Lakers, and it goes beyond just their ability to, ah, to score, actually score in the paint because the Lakers can defend in the paint and the Bulls will.
However, the Bulls offense the Bulls offense requires them to score in the paint.
The Bulls right now are getting 48% of their scoring comes from points in the paint, which is sixth in the N B.
One of the teams that's higher than them.
The team that's actually fit is the Lakers.
The Lakers also get 48% of their points in the paint, so the Bulls rely on paint scoring, but they can't defend it.
The Lakers also rely on scoring in the paint, but they can defend it.
So what does all of that mean? That means the Lakers can take away what it is that the Bulls do best or can least can negatively impact.
What is that? The Bulls do best, and that is score in the paint.
Whereas the Bulls can't take away that.
Can't take that away from the Lakers Translation advantage. Lakers.
Keep an eye on the paint.
Keep an eye on how the Lakers are defending the Chicago Bulls, and if they can really shut them down there, the Bulls are gonna be in for a very, very long night.
So again points in the paint.
The biggest key you need to keep an eye on in this game.
What are the Lakers do against the Bulls? Biggs were talking Lowry marketing.
Part of the reason why they do have success there is because he can stretch the floor and that provides some driving lanes for the Bulls players they get points in the paint by driving off the dribble.
You get guys like Zach Lavine attacking the rim.
But if you've got Dwight Howard in there, you've got Anthony Davis in there.
Protecting the rim.
You can mitigate their ability to score in the paint, and that way you can take away the greatest weapon that the Bulls have, and that's their ability to score inside.
The Lakers going to need a work on.
They need to hold onto the basketball against the San Antonio Spurs in their last game.
Yes, it was a win, but the Lakers kept the Spurs in the game with their turnovers.
The Lakers tied their season high for turnovers with 18 and the Spurs.
It felt like they were scoring just about every single time.
The Bulls, meanwhile, actually really good in this area.
They don't turn the ball over.
They have the second lowest turnovers in the N B A.
Right now, they don't take a lot of risks on the offensive end, And so because of that, they don't turn the ball over a lot.
However, they rely on the opponent's turning the ball over they are fourth in the entire N B A.
In the percentage of their points.
That air scored off of turnovers.
They need to turn to for you to turn the ball over for them to score.
They're not great scoring in the half court offense, and this is also part of the reason why their points in the paint are so high.
It's because they're scoring off turnovers where they can get run outs.
So for the Lakers, it's gonna be really important that they protect the basketball with one way or one of the ways that the Bulls can actually keep this thing close.
And stay in this game is if they're able to force turnover.
If they're able to get the Lakers, the play sloppy turned the ball over and then give them opportunities in transition.
The Chicago team relies on that, and they don't give the Bulls those easy scoring opportunities.
It's going to be a very long night for these young Chicago Bulls and the last of my three points that we need to get into our the is the effort, the effort.
Look, this is a trap game.
This is not a good Bulls team, the Lakers players going into this, and there's nothing to suggest that they won't do this, by the way.
But the Lakers players heading into this game, they need to have a professional, businesslike mentality.
You get in and you get the job done, period.
You can't walk into this thinking, Oh, we've got this thing won again.
The 76 ers were playing the feet.
The Phoenix Suns.
They found a way to lose and the sun's despite their record.
I still don't think this is gonna be a great team.
The Blazers, who are a good team, found a way to lose to a Gold State Warriors team made up of dealing players.
Crazy things happen in the N.
This is a trap game.
It's the last game of the road trip against an opponent that they should beat.
These are the kinds of games that last year's Lakers would lose.
They would find ways to lose these games.
I don't think that's what's going to happen here.
We haven't seen this bad habit from this year's Lakers, but there cannot be a mental letdown.
One of the things that's been great about the Lakers is when they really flipped a switch and they turn it on.
They are really difficult to score on, but they've got to be locked in.
We've seen some moments where they're not and they've given up some easy buckets.
Now again, the Lakers are one of them not be best defensive team in the league.
So again, I'm not expecting a huge letdown here, but the potential is there.
This is a trap game.
This is the type of game that it would be all too easy for a team like the Lakers tow walk into thinking We've got this one in the bag.
Let's get the game over with and get home.
And then next thing you know, they've got a fight on their hands, so they've got to make sure that they get in.
They take care of business, do what they need to do a heck if things play out the way of projected here.
If they're able to win the battle of points in the paint, take that option away from the Bulls, keep their turnovers, Lo protect the rim.
This could turn into a blowout right now.
I'm not saying the Lakers are going to blow out the Bulls because, like I said, crazy things happened and I don't want to make that prediction.
But the potential is here for the Lakers to steamroll this team.
And if they do that, we'd love to see Cow Cruise mom, maybe get some extra minutes.
Thio continue to knock off some of that rust that he's got from being out to start the season.
So potential is here for the Lakers to get some minutes to some other players rest some of their stars if they're able to take care of those three key areas that I just outlined.
