and welcome back in once again to the we got Nets podcast streaming live on SportsCastr as we wait for the last couple of seconds to tick off of what turned out to, of course, had to be the case with the Brooklyn Nets.
A little bit closer than we wanted it to be.
But with a 10 point lead here, 24 seconds to go in the fourth quarter, not expecting the pelicans to make the comeback.
So just coming into you a little bit early here and just started dive into some of the things that we saw won't go into too much detail.
Doug and I will be getting together.
Getting a bad glare off the glasses there.
Uh, gonna be getting into this with Doug on the podcast as we have to go to wrap these up and then look ahead to the road trip for the Brooklyn Nets.
But, you know, listen, this is a game again when you're up 17.
You certainly don't want to see it be the case that you find yourselves in a tight game and letting a team get within two of you.
We talked about it at halftime.
Didn't want to see the Nets struggle in that third quarter and get outscored 30 two to 18.
They put up 37 points.
The problem is, you give up 40 eight, and that certainly is a recipe toe.
Let a team back into the game.
But as they will look to close this one out, the positives will go to first and foremost here.
No Kyrie Irving.
He turns it on the third and fourth quarter.
The second half of this game, for sure, goes 11 11.
Perfect fromthe line 13 and 21 from the field.
Puts up 39 points, ends up with the with the 10 rebounds.
Excuse me and also contributes, Uh, apologize, not assist a cross myself up there.
Nine assists for Kyrie Irving.
Four rebounds Total was taking a look at that Jared Allen stat line.
You know things with the nine assists, Maybe could sneak one in here at the end, but otherwise, right on the edge of that double double territory that we had talked about one to see him consistently.
Being did consistently also facilitate the offense.
But nevertheless, you know, had to turn into offensive mode here first as we got into the fourth quarter just to make sure that we locked this one away.
Other key contributors down the stretch there for the Nets were certainly Jared Allen.
He locks up his double double, going 18 and 10 here for seven fromthe line seven of eight from the field place. 30 minutes.
You know Joe Harris? We saw there late in the game, Kyrie Irving found livered for a nice open three look.
He also looked to Harris, who missed, and then later, Temple had a little give and go right back over to Harris.
Harris knocks down the three looks right toe Kyrie Irving and says, I'm not missing twice on that one.
So it certainly was a little bit of the dagger there to make sure they sealed this one away in the game.
Harrison's of going seven of 14 from the field, four of nine from deep puts up 19 points.
You have Tory on prints on Lee Contributes Tell 12 points in this one, however, had four assists, four seals in this one for for him to go along with the 11 rebounds, nine of those defensively.
So even though he struggled from beyond the arc, just going to of nine and four of 12 from the field.
Overall, you know Tori on Prince is showing that he has value across the board here for the Brooklyn Nets.
It's not just going to be about his offense and perimeter shooting.
We're also going to be able to look at him and see that he can be, Ah, defensive, at least pest, a defensive stopper at times, and it looks like he can certainly bother players enough and get some of those steel.
So the turnover game that he's able to facilitate is obviously gonna be a factor in his game as well.
You know, we dive into the bench a little bit.
We wondered if kooks would get an extended run.
Unfortunately, because the game ended up being a lot tighter than you maybe wanted it to be.
We ended up having to see him stay on the bench, doesn't get a chance that maybe find a little bit of his rhythm in the second half here, as it requires most of the starters to stay active, you want to go on to the negative side of things first.
Informers also touch on carousel of Jericho's 1919 four eight from Beyond the arc, just one of three from the line.
But it's kicking in 23 points, a net positive plus 12 reading to go along Irving and plus 11 to go along with Alan and plus 12 to go along with prints at plus 10.
Oddly enough, you know, Harris was the only outlining the starting unit a minus four, but still contributed late in the fourth quarter.
So certainly, you know, positive for the starting unit.
When we look into the bench, the one unfortunate footnote here and you'll hear Dog Nori, me and myself talk about this on the podcast.
No matter what we may feel about a player in terms of what the rule is, never want to see somebody get hurt.
DeAndre Jordan goes down, kind of gets his foot on top of another player for New Orleans.
An ankle comes in.
This is gonna be a sprained ankle, so anticipate him probably be in day to day.
It's nice that they have a few days off here before they go on the road, but be curious to see if this leads to any kind of timeline in terms of him needed some recovery.
And what that will look like for the roster behind Jared out with starting center position.
I think again, this game certainly solidified that Jared Alice should be.
You're starting center going forward.
Regardless of what the matchups may look like.
It still proves out that he is the more effective player on this team at the center position, and you'd like to see him solidify that rule.
And certainly as DeAndre gets back from the sprained ankle like to see him assert himself, knowing that he is going to need to play quality minutes for this team, You know, another unfortunate piece here for me is Spencer Day.
21 minutes in this one, you know, Shoots 38 from the field, one of four from Deep, has a couple of ugly turnovers in the fourth quarter, gets himself up in the air in the lane looking for an outlet, but doesn't really have eyes on that, or any sense of where the spacing is and where his teammates are going to be.
A couple of sloppy turnover, their lead to easy buckets for you know, the pelicans So you know, this is just a piece.
Something keep an eye on its concern.
For me, the dead bodies seem like he's been struggling to find his rhythm a little bit as well.
It kind of goes a little bit hand in hand with that was Libert settling in? But you know, Laverne had three turnovers in this one.
So some things little things for the returning players from last year's roster.
Maybe it's just shifting into these new rules a little bit, but something to keep an eye on can't get out of this one without tip of the hat to Brendan Ingram.
The ends of Cohen, 36 minutes 40 points in this one, comes away with five assists as well to contribute into that shot 66 from the line.
Only one of three from deep, not three point shooter, 17 and 24 shot a very high percentage in this one.
Early in that third quarter as well, Lonzo Ball threw in an extra couple of of three pointers there, and they're shooting three of seven from deep.
He certainly worked at some of the kinks in his in his shooting motion.
You know this is a New Orleans Pelicans team.
That one is young has brought over a lot of pieces that came over that Lakers treat that said.
Said Anthony Davis, out to L.
But this is a scrappy team that fights now.
It doesn't mean that I don't still look at this game and think that the Nets should have won this thing a lot more handedly and it shouldn't have been close in the fourth quarter by any stretch of the imagination.
But pelicans have some pieces, and I think Ingram is obviously the centerpiece of that trade that came back over and something that if you're a pelican's fan, you can certainly get excited about in spite of the fact that you are struggling here early in the season, you know, beyond that, I think again, this is just one of those things.
When we go a little bit into the stat lines here, you know.
The Nets end up shooting just 30 not just with 39% from beyond the arc, 53% from the field, 75% from the line on the strength of of Kyrie Irving going 11 for 11.
So certainly you know they improve some of those areas there.
The only issue that I probably take with it again is we talk about turnovers as I get this stat up here in front of 23 for the game had 13 in the 14.
In the first half, they finished with 20 three.
It's another ugly number, especially when you're playing quote unquote bad teams.
It's just unacceptable to have this many turnovers.
They need to clean this up because game in and game out your you're not gonna win them more often than not.
And in a game like this, when you had 23 turnovers, you know pelicans at 21.
That's why I kind of comes out in the wash.
But against better teams, that kid themselves under to 10 maybe 12 turnovers in a game that's going to be a seven to 10 point swing.
And that's the difference of being up 10 and winning a game versus being in a tight one.
And certainly finding yourselves may be on the losing side of some of these.
So that's something you want to see them clean up.
You know, the only other news and notes that I could certainly take away from it there as we have if you're familiar and ESPN edges popping up in the background and automatically throwing its audio into my face.
Got that? Rap took their pretty quickly, but the the assist numbers go with 32 assists on the night for the Nets on the total of 40 nine makes.
So again, nice balance assistant.
Assist on the field goal makes you love that, and this is again.
It's just gonna be about continue to find that balance and that rhythm as my co host and I would say on the podcast winds or wins, so you're not going to scoff at it.
You certainly wish that a 17 point lead at halftime did not lead to that type of close game.
Giving up 40 eight points in a quarter is absolutely insane.
Doesn't matter what air of the N.
And so obviously a lot of kings for this team still toe workout.
But you take the wind and then you go ahead and you start to move on, and we all know the Nets are now gonna have a few days off before they play the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.
And that's the start of the road trip will go from Portland bent out to the Phoenix Suns, followed by the Utah Jazz as a CZ well as the Denver Nuggets and in the Chicago Bulls before coming back home to take on the Pacers all the way on November 18th.
So we'll certainly be on the road for a while.

It's a one 30 5 to 1 25 home victory for the Brooklyn Nets.
Again, a lot of strong play behind the double doubles off Kyrie or double double Jared Allen and strong close out play from Kyrie Irving. Joe Harris.
Story on Prince was some strong defense.
Certainly a lot of things, though, like from this one.
And then what has been the theme turnovers to clean up communication to clean up and ultimately just trying to get yourselves into that rhythm but still early days? Chalk up the win and you go ahead and take a few days arrest here before heading out West to take on the Portland Trail Blazers On behalf of the We Got Nets podcast coming to you live on the SportsCastr stream.
