I mean, this is this is more for pride than anything, and it just kind of showed up and, you know, again keeping it from the ground before we get to that.
Speaking of pride, I do want to bring up um Bryant.
Laura's picking up his first win as the Dolphins coach, and there was something that really stuck out, stood out to me, and it speaks to what I think we all kind of felt about Brian Flores when he moved on.
And I think that's kind of reaffirms.
That is the celebration they gave him for picking up that when they gave him a Gatorade bath.
And yes, I know you can.
You can find him a job just like Oh my God, they gave my Gatorade bath for first win.
But to me, that speaks about how that team feels about him.
In terms of leadership.
We've seen teams be really, really bad, and, you know, they obviously ate their coach, and there's some friction and animosity.
This team just finally won the first game in Week nine, and they're celebrating with their coach because they know how much it means to you and how much it means to this team.
So I think, you know, once you weed out some of the bad apples, um, that were, you know, on this franchise and say what you want about all these guys.
I mean, they it was just bad timing for them.
And it's making the Dolphins better.
And I think you know the emotional speech afterwards where obviously, Brian, uh, dedicated this to his late mother, who passed away earlier this year.
It was It was a great moment and again, to me.
The bigger picture is it tells me that this team, these players really loved Brian and Flores, and they wouldn't give giving him a Gatorade bath for their first win of the season.
And they did it definitely without any question.
And it does speak volumes about his security going forward behind this year, which I thought was a little premature.
And that was a little ridiculous.
I mean to say and to lay all this at the feet of Brian Flores and say, Well, you're the reason why this team is is the way it is.
That's certainly not the case, and I think we're seeing that the players respond to him.
I think the players that are there in uniform in Miami, like playing for him, and that's what they've been stockpiling draft picks for.
Brian Flores is going to build his team.
He's going to mold this team in his image, and I believe he's gonna get the opportunity to do it now and yesterday proved it.
Look, obviously the Miami Dolphins are not going anywhere, folks, they're going to be a very high drafting team.
Argue right now.
I think the Bengals of the only under the only team without a win right now, but they're going to be picking either at the top or very near the top.
They're not going to drop any lower than third in the draft order, so they're building for the future.
But this was a big win for Brian and anybody up here in New England that is either had the chance to be around him, meet in or cover him.
I can tell you the guy is, he's the real deal.
He's a genuine article.
What you see is what you get and he's very, very much dedicated to his player and I'm sure does his job does it well so good win for Brian and we'll see what the future holds in Miami.
But, you know, it's a part of me that's glad it was over the Jets.
Yeah, well, of course.
And that makes it all easier that it was against the Jets.
Because again, um, you know, the Jets both are sitting at the same identical record, but ah, and I mentioned this yesterday.
I believe on the pre game show.
I'm losing track.
There's so many **** shows.
So I apologize if I If I say it's one showing, it's another, Um, despite them both being now at the same record I look at the Dolphins is being in a far better situation with the wind direction.
This team at least has a plan.
I don't know what that plan is.
Um, it clearly wasn't too Ah, alienate some of your best players over the trade deadline week.
Or maybe it does, because if it was and they nailed it good for you, Adam Gates.
Um, but the Jets are just I mean, they they continue to be the Jets, and you have a team full of guys that you know who knows what you know what's gonna be of Jamal Adams after this year and what not and who knows what, how they're gonna be able to gain that trust back.
And maybe it means moving on from Adam Gates.
I would probably be the smart thing.
I mean, it was it was dumb to begin with, to trade or to, ah, add him to as your next coach, considering that his greatest accomplishment in Miami was to go eight and eight.
So, um, that higher never made sense, and it's really starting to show.
I think that the dolphins, at the very least, have a direction now.
They could fail spectacularly.
They can make every wrong draft pick in the book, and you can sit there and be like, all right, you know what? At the end of the day, it didn't work, but right now I think it works.
And again that moment that that, uh what what seems like a genuine respect and appreciation for Brian Floors from the players, I think is gonna go a long way.
And, ah, you know, especially when you think about when he took this job, everyone anticipated this team was gonna be really bad, and they've literally taken every, you know, quote unquote great player.
Doesn't mean he's a great fit for this team, but they've taken every great player and shipped him away.
So, um, I'm glad that it seems like Brian uh Flores is going to get a leash and be able to get a long leash and be able to do what he has to do to get this team back.
Because we've seen far too often coaches get the pole right away and again.
Sir, you know every situation is different, and sometimes you can just tell.
Like I said, Adam Gates just does not look like a guy that can lead a team like that and least.
And Brian Floors is, uh, Corner is the fact that these players really, really buy into what he's selling, and you know what's good for them.
And I'm excited, Thio.
Anytime they beat the Jets, I'll be happy.
So, yeah, definitely.
And you talk about teams that are heading in opposite ends of the spectrum, and I think you covered all we need to cover about the Jets.
Ah, the gay sire, obviously is looking like a worst decision.
Each passing day.
Ah, that's not gonna get any easier, folks.
That is a very, very bad situation in New York right now.
They're just they're in complete disarray.
Sam Donald continues to be haunted by that ghost comment.
I mean, they're playing Ghostbusters up there on the screen.
I mean, they really are there really, really having fun with this.
And it's just wanting him for, you know, the rest of ah of the season.
And, you know, you just hope he's gonna be able to recover from it.
Meets a very uncharacteristic mistakes just that, and just has not looked like the same player since the Patriots.
Really? I think I don't want to say ruined him because I think that's right.
I think that's very, very harsh in probably a little bit too over the top.
But since the Patriots really exposed ah, lot of his weaknesses and what Ah, the blueprint of being able to take it to Sam Darnold.
But as bad as things are in New York right now, it could be worse.
And they are worse in Cleveland, my friend. Yes.
Yeah, and great segue way, by the way, because I was trying to figure out how it was gonna seemed seamlessly transition until another Dumpster fire.
And that is the Cleveland Browns.
And you know, that's that's something we've talkto talked about a great length over the last couple weeks because every week it's the same story.
It's, you know what's happening.
A poor coaching poor, a poorly disciplined team.
Ah, Baker Mayfield is not.
I don't think the quarterback people expected him to be, or at least the one he portrays on commercials.
Um, you know, the one that actually has some swagger and some, you know, ah, evidence of of success to back it up.
You know, the guy that he plays on commercials is just not the same.
And, ah, look, I I again we talked about I'm gays be in the wrong higher.
I mean, each and every day it's It's clearer and clearer that Freddie Kitchens was the wrong higher, and you know what? To be honest, getting Odell Beckham Jr was probably the worst move that they could have made because it was it was very clear that, you know, if they don't succeed, he was not going to be happy.
And from what we've seen over the last couple weeks.
It's very clear that he had some other teams on his mind about where I wanted to go.
And he's clearly not of which again.
Look, if you're a professional foot, you gotta You gotta hold yourself accountable and and deal with the situation at hand.
I like his outward from a fan's point of view, his outward affection for Tom Brady and basically saying it without saying it that, you know, he wanted to be on the Patriots.
I like him from a fan standpoint, Um, but as someone, if you're an athlete, you can't be doing that.
And it just kind of speaks to what that culture is in Cleveland right now.
It's just, it's it's toxic, There's no leadership, There's no accountability.
And, you know, to be honest, they're just not a good football team.
Uh, you know, we we got we got kind of all everyone everyone didn't want.
I don't want to say everyone because I think there were some people that were like, It's the Browns.
Let's let's, like, at least see something first.
Um, and those people were right, because guess what? Same old Browns.
I mean, it doesn't matter how much talent you have, how much talent, you know, you litter across your roster.
I mean, they they lack fundamentals.
They lacked discipline.
They lack any sort of aspect or quality of a quality team.
And you know what? It's not gonna get any better.
I mean, honestly, if I were the Cleveland Browns, I would end this Freddie Kitchens experiment right away because, yeah, maybe Baker Mayfield the problem.
Maybe there's some players that are on the problem, But you you gotta you gotta know that the coach is definitely a problem.
And yeah, I think you gotta cut bait.
Move on because there's no sense since and sinking any further because you're just gonna continue to lose the team and get the players.
No question, you talk about, you know, disastrous hires.
I mean, that to me, ranks higher on the list than than than the hiring of Gates.
I mean, this case at least came in with some pedigree, you know? I mean, you know Nate, Nate season.
I understand, but, you know, he did have some pedigree working with guys like Peyton Manning and running an offense.
And what not so he had some experience being able to come in and run what was considered a young team, Ah, hungry team and a team that had some talent on both sides of the ball.
And they just have not lived up to that with kitchens.
It just was a head scratcher right from the get go.
You looked at the team that they had compiled.
The list of veterans and established players stars some superstars in the case of Odubel, Odell Beckham Jr that are big names in this league, and a collection of talent doesn't always mean success on the field.
You have to come together as 18 we've seen in New England.
We've seen teams that may have not been the most talented on paper, come in and be a dominant team because they buy into the team concept that begins and ends with Bill Belichick.
And it begins and ends with Tom Brady and the leadership that he shows as well.
Baker Mayfield is very young, very brash, and he's not showing that right now.
Maybe it's a lack of accountability on his end.
Maybe it's a lack of buy in or a lack of mature maturity absolutely is a very, very good way to put it.
I think a lot of that comes in, but if you're pointing for someone you don't believe in, it's the easiest thing in the world to check out.
We see it in the corporate sector where you know productivity does not match the output that the boss wants.
If there's no leadership at the top of the helm, if your manager is not engaged, you're not gonna be engaged.
And I'm not saying the Freddie Kitchens doesn't want a winner, that he doesn't care.
He's checked out, putting his feet on the desk and not doing anything.
I think he's in over his head and a way because of that.
I think because of that you're seeing the suffering from Cleveland.
This is a much more talented team than a 216 record.
They've got talent on both sides of the ball.
They can move it.
Nick Chubb is a very good young runner.
You know Baker Mayfield, for all the stuff that he takes, has a great deal of talent at the quarterback position, but they're not putting it together.
So yeah, I agree with you.
I think kitchens needs to go.
And if it were me, I wouldn't wait until the end of the season.
I would make a move.
And I think something needs to spark this team if they want to have any moment I'm going into next year, because if they have to go on and play eight more games of all right, I I think you might have cut out there like, Okay, Mike's back. All right.
You did the your classic rally for 10 seconds.
It was probably your best point of the whole show, but it just went lost, uh, in the Internet wave.
So, uh, I'll just give you credit for saying something incredibly amazing, but we just don't We don't know what it was.
Well, there's a lot of lot of eerie stuff going on up here on dry land, always.
You know, there's a there's a, uh, instagram cycle.
All right, props and it's Ah, this is one of them.
I guess intermittent Internet access are coming in and out.
But in any case, I was reiterating essentially what he and said, and that is that the Brown's need to make a move, and I think they need to make it now.
And if they don't make it now, and this team has to go on and play eight more games of the same type of environment they're in right now, then I think they run the risk of losing some of these guys and good luck trying to get him back next year.
But I don't think contra contractually get him back.
I mean, mentally get them back into buying in.
If they're gonna have to go on over and over again this year, then they may check out.
And there's a chance they just may not check back in.
Well, yeah, I think about it, if you in this season with what three and 13 record for and 12.
You know how you're supposed to sell that culture next year? I mean, they had an opportunity to really sell it this year, and they did, because hey, you got Baker.
Do you actually won some games last year? Um, you know, no one kind of looked at the underlying issues where it's like, yeah, they want some games against some bad teams.
But they struggled against good teams.
Baker, Mayfield included.
So you look past that.
You look at the acquisition of Odell Beckham Jr.
You look at them signing Karim Hunt, who comes back.
I believe this neck upcoming week.
He's not gonna sort out their issues.
Um, you look at all these big name acquisitions and you know you get you get fixed on it.
And then, of course, you add in the Baker Mayfield adverti*****ts.
I mean, he's all over the place.
He's for Who is this? That and the other.
Um, you know, I said before, I don't mind having a little bit of, you know, quote unquote swagger and little bit of moxie when you can't, especially when it comes to, like positions like quarterback and her back, because I think there is a little bit of the ego that needs to go along with it.
But, um, that runs out very quickly with me, especially if you don't back it up.
And and Baker, has I no point in this season or in his career to this point, has he backed up the kind of talk that he's given, and I understand and I've hurts from some people about, you know, the exchange he had last week with a reporter and and look, I mean, clearly this reporter had an agenda and has knocked Baker. Mayfield.
However, um, his reaction kind of speaks to to that whole lack of maturity issue.
In my opinion, I think he completely was, Was was out of line the way he he reacted.
And that's certainly not something you want to see as a guy who's supposed to be the leader.
Now again, this may be a situation like Freddie Kitchens, where Freddie Kitchens is a little bit over his head when it comes to running this team.
Baker, Mayfield, maybe over his head.
In terms of leadership, you know, he's been touted as this great leader.
This guy who does these like crazy dances on the sidelines, you know, gets everyone all riled up.
But look, at the end of the day, your play on the field speaks a lot lot, you know, that has more of an impact than anything you say.
Do our whatever.
So again, he get back to basics, get better on the field, you know? Shut your mouth.
Say what you got to say.
Um, and by that I mean, don't say anything, just go up and be like, You know what? I'm just gonna I got things I gotta work on, Bubba, Bubba, Don't get don't engage and don't buy into the bait from these reporters or whatever and just go about your business because the more you get into these, like little arguments and little spent spats with, you know, some guy that covers Cleveland's ports, it does you no good.
And, um, he doesn't seem like a guy who's who's capable of blocking out that noise.
And, ah, you know, again, I think at the end of the day, I think that's gonna be his downfall.
And this team, Yeah, agreed.
I mean, I think we've covered cover on the Cleveland Grounds, and I think, you know, that's just it's one of those things where, unfortunately, just you know they need to.
There's too much there to be able to fix and say, Well, they can make adjustments on the fly and they can build on this, And I'm just not seeing anything out of the Browns that they can build on.
And I talked about this without explaining a couple of weeks ago from CNN s VD up here in Boston and he said it.
He says if they lose this game to the Patriots, that season is going to unravel and things are gonna start to implode.
And you started to see signs of it yesterday.
Unfortunately for Cleveland Browns fan, I don't see it getting much better.
Yeah, and and that's the thing to it's like there's there's very little positives, Like we started the show talking about the Patriots and how there were a lot of positives that we could draw from that game.
You know, obviously there were a lot of negatives, but there were certain things that we could key in on.
When you look at the Browns, I don't see any of that.
Uh, you try to find the little things that you can like build a foundation on, But again, you know that the foundation goes back to the top and that starts with Freddie Kitchens and the quarterback.
Um, you know, we were spoiled up in New England because we have two of the best, you know, at each of those respective positions, ever do it.
So it So it gives, you know there's a lot of leeway that the team can can deal with when it comes to issues either on the field or off the field.
They can get around it.
They can. They can block out the noise.
And again, there's just there's nothing I see from the Browns right now that tells me that they're capable of doing that.
Because again, you know who other Browns? They're a team.
That's a perennial loser.
Um, you know, I mean, that's just what it is.
I mean, you know, you sit here, pretend like Oh, yeah, you know, the grounds were good in the fifties.
Who cares? Yeah, let's relax.
I mean, this team has since the reincarnation here in 1999.
Um, they've been known as essentially losers.
So you know, it is what it is.
And, ah, I feel bad for Cleveland fans because I know they're they're great fan base.
It's just it's unfortunate that they've been they've been saddled with a ah, just a terribly managed team.
And yeah, you know, that is because that that really is one of the most loyal and one of the really, I think one of the most fanatical fan bases around and they really they're so hungry for a winner there.
And those fans deserve it.
But unfortunately, this year looks like attn.
Very least you're gonna have to wait one more year, guys.
Yeah, so? All right, Well, we got a few few more minutes left before we say goodbye for a Monday episode.
So, um, we do have Monday night football tonight.
So, Mike, I want to know what you thinking.
Um, no, it's seriously.
I want to know what? What are you thinking about? The cowboys and Giants, Obviously two teams and totally different directions.
I think the cowboys are, um, you know, still looking to prove themselves to the masses.
You know, this is a team that has beaten bad teams and lost against good teams.
And that obviously gives you cause for concern.
Because, you know, in this league, you know, especially when you haven't done it before, you gotta prove that you can be good teams.
So, um, how do you look at this game? And you think that's gonna be a ah, pretty Ah, Pretty easy.
Victory for the cowboys.
I don't think it's gonna be that easy for the Cowboys.
I do believe they will win, and that is a little bit of Ah ah, stray from from what I had been thinking earlier this week in that I thought the Giants might have had a chance to come out and beat this team.
I think the Cowboys are trending in the right direction.
I think that they righted the ship, and I think they're starting to play well.
But I don't look for an easy game with this.
First of all, it's a divisional opponents.
These two teams know each other very, very well.
The Giants cap showed flashes of being able to defend quarterbacks that have some questionable decisionmaking.
And look, that's a knock on deck Prescott folks.
He's gonna be able to prove that he can make the decisions when it counts and win big games.
When the game's on the line, the Giants can be able to show him some looks that might be able to disrupt him.
Also on the offensive side of the ball, Daniel Jones is capable of being able to put points on the board.
We've seen it and we've seen him be ableto have flashes, so when you look at this.
I don't think this is gonna be the East Slam dunk that a lot of people are thinking for the Cowboys.
I do like the Cowboys in this game, but I don't like them in a big in a big round.
I actually have them only winning by a field goal here.
No, you know, that's that's fair.
And and, you know, again, divisional matchups.
You know, always.
Ah, you know, it's always hard to kind of get a gauge on them, even if the teams really go to really bad.
But, um, you know, the Cowboys, to me, are just the team that has the biggest question Mark, you know, Are they really contenders? Are they not? Um, And again, I mentioned they've only lost a good team here.
They've only beaten bad teams and lost the good teams.
And, ah, you know, they don't have, like, the Patriots very recent history of being successful to fall back on.
They have a history of not quite being able to get the job done, so we still don't really know about Cowboys.
I do think that they're gonna win.
I do think it's I think the score will be closer than the game, actually, is I? I think this is one of those games where you know, Dagan Z kind of show off against against a pretty bad Giants team.
So, um, so my gather that our flew pretty well.
I think I only had a couple technical difficulties when it came to broadcasting.
Also on, uh, on a SportsCastr.
