Hey there, Syracuse fans.
It's Kevin Wall from news magician catching up with me a few minutes before the Orange took up, tip off with Carlton Ravens and tonight's final exhibition game for men's basketball.
What do we know about tonight's game? Will Coat comes in a CZ, the defending use sports champion coming out of Ottawa, Canada.
There, 14 time champions very experienced team, especially in the backcourt with their 3 50 or players.
So this is gonna be a good test for the young Syracuse backcourt who struggled a little bit, Um, with Damon College in terms of ball handling on Saturday night.
So be looking to see how the Orange backcourt jailing Kerry, bracing Good Eye and Joe Girard especially handle handle the ball tonight against an experienced team.
Carlton comes in.
They already ate and one on the season.
So they played more games, had more time together with the experience.
Wouldn't be surprised if the armed struggle tonight and I wouldn't read too much into it.
Um, this is a good team that they're facing the team Syracuse is beating twice before ah, few years ago.
Um, so it's gonna be a good test and It's a really good test, especially with Virginia coming up next week.
How will we see the Orange play while we continue to see the good shooting that they showed it? Damon Robert Breasts well, had an incredible game, maybe forcing himself into the rotation.
If he's gonna shoot 70% from three, Circus is gonna definitely find him minutes.
Willoughby it before or the five.
How's it all going to work together again? Like I talked about Saturday.
How Jim Boeheim chooses to match these players is gonna be something to watch for as the season gets underway.
How does the midget mix and match guys? Jesse Edwards looked pretty serviceable the other night against Damon.
Um, so will he be handled ableto handle some minutes behind? Barama said eBay or ruled direct Alicia.
I have to play more of the 51 of things with Brazil's emergence is that if you can put Dole a guy at the five and brass well can play with Elijah Hughes.
Boy circuits can really spread the court with those two guys.
And speaking of Hughes, he was really efficient the other night.
Um, looked really good.
What was interesting to me was there a few times during the game where he was actually, uh, bringing up the ball.
I think it was when Gerard and Body were both in the backcourt and Hugh's head ball handling what that game was. Another dimension.
There was one play in particular where brought the ball up, had a smaller guy on him and just pulled up from three again, like Jim Boeheim's used Titus battle the last couple of years.
Hand on the ball in some spots, initiating the offense for one.
But also, if teams they're gonna play hard to deny Hughes the ball they put it in his hands in the back court makes a little bit easier for him to come up, work off some screens, get himself some looks from not only the three point line but hopefully being aggressive.
Going to the basket.
I thought the backcourt look good on Spurs's.
Obviously, you want to see some a little, a little bit more consistency out of carrying good. I.
I think that they were sloppy with the ball at times, but first game you'll live with that.
But again next week Virginia, you can't afford to give away possessions with slopping passing when Gerard and Boeheim were together in the backcourt.
Obviously, you get great shooting.
Wasn't sure about the two of them at the top of the zone.
I don't think we got a really good look at them for an extended period of time.
That would be the question with that pairing.
Do they have the quickness to defend at the top of the zone against teams with good perimeter play? But this is, Ah, interesting year for Syracuse. Theo.
Expectations are relatively low.
You know, there is mixed opinions as to whether this is a tournament team or not.
And so I think you're gonna see some ups and downs.
And hopefully people understand that the team's gonna take a little while, probably to find its way.
Can they get by early, especially at home on catch Virginia team? That's also kind of I have.
There's obviously reloading after losing the talent that they did something that will will look for but tonight especially curious to watch how the guards handle the ball well, they limit the turnovers.
Will we get better ball movement from the Orange and how well they hang with a veteran team that's got more game experience.
If they could get a win tonight against Carl, and I think that's a good sign, I think this is a quality opponent and so we'll have to keep on an eye on it and catch us, said Nunes, Magician.
For all your recaps after today's game and leading up to next week's A C C opener with the defending champ Virginia Cavaliers, I'm Kevin Wall and we'll talk to you soon.
