Oh my goodness! Your Lakers just blew out the Golden State Warriors. Incredible.
If you're gonna finish pre season, that's the way thio it.
I don't even care that they have another game to play on Friday.
Bubble wrap, everybody just bottle Whatever we just saw and skip that ahead to the regular season.
We don't need to see these guys again on Friday.
That was amazing stuff that we just saw it from your Los Angeles Lakers.
They were absolutely incredible.
I'm gonna be taking your questions.
Your comments were gonna be diving into all of it.

I will do my best to try to keep up with them.
I can see Ah, bunch of them coming in already.
Now, look, this game was I'm absolutely tremendous.
You've gotta love the effort that we saw from the Lakers.
I'm getting a bunch of comments here from both periscope from Facebook.
Welcome in everybody Who is joining me here tonight again.
Huge game for the Lakers.
First quick shot.
It's a jazz Kaing usually might.
My partner on this show.
Fortunately, he is sick.
You could hear it in his voice last time we did a show on Monday night.
He's sick, so he's gonna be out the rest of this week.
But he'll be back in time for the regular season.
So he'll up. Jess.
Feel better, man, and we'll see you next game.
But, uh, let's just start diving into some of your questions and Samir comments here at From Periscope at customized plates.
And let's talk about Avery Bradley hitting tons of shots.
Yes, let's talk Avery Bradley.
Because you know what? This is the lineup.
The Lakers need to stake with.
I've been saying it all along.
Rondo is not the right fit for the starting lineup.
And no, this is not some anti Rondo agenda.
This is not me hating on Rajon Rondo.
This is me just saying Rondo isn't the right fit for the team.
I still think you can be useful, okay? He's just not the fit with that first team.
That first unit.
I don't like him and LeBron together.
I think you need a guy who can play a higher level of defense.
That's Avery Bradley.
But the big question mark about Avery Bradley is.
What about the shooting? You need someone who can space the floor in that starting unit.
He had not been hitting from downtown tonight, four of five from three for 18 points for Avery.
Bradley didn't do anything else.
No other counting, No rebounds, notices, no steals, no blocks, no other counting stats.
But I thought he did just find on the defensive end.
He was good there.
You know he's gonna bring that, But if he can space the floor, that makes him a much, much more useful player out there.
With that starting unit, because when you have Danny Green and Avery Bradley together, those are two very good high level perimeter defenders.
That's gonna create all kinds of problems for opposing teams, but they have to be able to hit the open shots.
They're gonna be generated by LeBron and 80.
Otherwise, it's hard to keep them out there on the floor if they can shoot threes the way they did tonight for five, from Avery Bradley to a four from Danny Green.
If they can knock in those open looks that they get, then you're just fine playing them, enjoying the defense of pressure that they're gonna put out there and then living with the spot up.
Three point shooting.
Yes, Avery Bradley can cut a little bit off the ball.
He's not bad there.
Danny Green, pretty much just a spot up shooter from three canoe.
A few other things, but that combo together.
I like that a lot.
I like the defensive potential off that five man group of Avery Bradley, Danny Green, LeBron A D and JaVale McGee.
I think those your starters, I think you stick with it.
I don't even care if we see him again. on Friday.
I think you stick with that grouping for your Los Angeles Lakers.
He was really incredible.
Um, I've got some people in here saying, Doesn't matter. It's the priests.
Yes, it is. Preseason.
Yes, this doesn't count on their record, but still, for a Lakers fan beef that has been dying for six years to see a good Lakers team, you could say even seven if you don't count that first Dwight Howard year, right? They've been dying to see good Lakers basketball fun basketball again, and we've seen glimpses.
We had some fun moments with Lonzo ball running the floor.
There was some good times there.
Julius Randle doing Julius Randle things right? Brandon Ingram had some big performances.
It was fun with the kids.
But this is a different level.
This is the Lakers team that other squads are gonna be worried about.
They beat up on that Warriors team with their strength inside with the size that they had again.
This is something that Lakers fans haven't seen in a while.
And so you can't fault fans for being excited about what they see with this Laker squad and they should be.
I think they have a right to be at this point.
Ah, few people saying they look great.
Avery Maur Avery Bradley comments at Let's see Ron ag Nick from Facebook, saying Tuesday is coming Yes, absolutely.
Tuesday is almost here.
Ricky Dang, Quinn, Cook Fire Emoji.
Yes, that is the emoji to use right now, Quinn Cook all of the fire because right now he was.
He was tremendous.
Just to pull up some of his stats here, Quinn Cook was for the night.
Six of nine shooting four or five from deep, three assists, 16 points.
Now, you guys know if you've been following the Lakers Nation podcast, you've been watching all the videos I've been doing over the Lakers nation YouTube channel.
I've been talking about Quinn Cook for a while.
I was calling him the guy that I was irrationally excited about, that I was more excited about him, that I should be well, if he plays the way for every game.
But if you could play a similar level than my irrational excitement may actually be a fairly rational because he played extremely well.
And here's the thing that I really like about Quinn Cook I'm gonna go and re tweet this out from the Lakers Nation account, so we get some more people coming in here.
But the thing that I really like about Quinn Cook is that it's not just he is ability to shoot, and he's an elite shooter, elite level shoot of 42% shooter from three for his career, which is now I know his career short but still impressive, impressive stuff.
And then, on top of that, he can operate the pick and roll.
He's in the 97th percentile as a spot up shooter, but in the pick and roll, he is also in the in the mid 60% out.
You saw that tonight.
You saw him combining very quickly with Anthony Davis, with Dwight Howard working in pick and roll scenarios because he can come off that screen.
And when Biggs dive into the paint, the opposing big sags back in order to prevent the past for the dunk.
Quinn Cook can knock down that jumper consistently is very good at it.
This is a guy who can pass the ball a little bit.
You saw him get into the paint, draw defenders over and then dropped the ball off to the Opposed to our big weather was Dwight Howard or whoever did a nice job there, too.
So he's not just a shooter.
So you look at the Lakersroster right now.
You've got a guy like Troy Daniels who don't get me wrong.
Nothing bad about Troy Daniels, but he's just a shooter.
He's a very good shooter, but that's what he does.
Queen Coke can shoot and he can run on offense.
He can pass the ball now, his defense atrocious.
But you could see it on a few plays.
Defense was not good at all.
That's his Achilles heel.
If he was a good defender, the Lakers wouldn't have got him for $6 million.
That wouldn't have happened.
Okay, that's his.
That's his weakness is on the defensive end, But he can get in there.
He can play the point guard, and he could make some things happen.
So got to be excited about what you saw out of Quinn Cook out there today from Periscope, Danny's Arraras said Dwight, with the flexing emoji. Absolutely.
Dwight has been getting better.
Better and look, maybe, maybe the lack of athleticism, the lack of burst that we saw in those first few games aren't just him being 33 years old.
Yes, we're not going to see the crazy Superman Cape Dwight.
That's, you know, hitting his head on the rim and doing all these crazy things.
He's not gonna do that.
He's not that Dwight anymore.
But maybe he's a little bit more athletic than the Dwight that we saw in those first couple of games.
Maybe he's not quite so stiff.
Uh, I think we saw a lot more fluidity from him tonight, and it feels like the rust is being knocked off.
That's a great thing.
That's a great thing for the Lakers, because last season Dwight only played nine games.
It takes a while to get going again.
He's obviously in tremendous shape.
This guy's shredded.
He looks ridiculous and he looks like he's about to step into a UFC cage.
That's how ripped Dwight Howard is at this point.
But he's making some really smart place and I've said it a bunch of times.
You might be sitting here me to say this, but what I love is that Dwight Howard is making good, solid contact on his screens.
He was infamous for not making contact on the screens because he always wanted to slip them, enrolled with rim and try to get a lob.
That was all he really cared about.
Now that he's got to do the little things right, he can't rely on his athleticism to make up for not doing everything the right way.
He has really been focused on boxing out, been setting good, hard screens, and we are reaping the rewards for it.
This guy has been looking very, very good.
In fact, I want to pull up his his stats for the game right here.
Five of seven shooting, seven boards, no blocks did have three turnovers.
So wasn't all pretty, but 13 points in just 15 minutes.
Here's the thing like you don't need Dwight Howard to be 2010.
If you was great, they'll be amazing.
But what you need is you need about 40 ish minutes, maybe 42 minutes of solid center play.
A deacon can soak up those other what, six minutes? There are eight minutes they're left over.
He can play those.
You can run a small ball center with a D in there, that's just fine.
But in those remaining minutes, you need somebody good in there.
In between Between Javale McGee and Dwight Howard, I think the Lakers have a really devastating combo.
It's gonna be tough to score on them, especially wants to bail out there.
He's got a 76 wingspan.
To go along with.
Anthony Davis is 76 wing span.
That's a lot of length for teams to shoot over.
We've seen teams struggling with it.
Got to be excited about.
We see they're just like we're excited about the evil Bradley Danny Green pairing defensively on the perimeter.
What the Lakers could do inside is scary as well.
This could be a very, very good defensive team if they stay long thin up here.
That's the key on the defensive end is staying locked in on each and every night.
Anthony Atala, SOS from periscope.
Keep up the good work, Trevor from fame from Greece.
And Anthony and welcome.
Thank you for joining us here.
Uh, deal shepherd from periscopes and closing line up whose average is 20 this season? Yes.
So that's the big thing you're seeing this Lakers team already find success, and Kyle Cruise was not part of it.
Kyle Kuzma really should be the third best player on the team, and we haven't seen amount there yet.
Now, obviously, he's dealing with this with the stress issue with his foot.
And so I'm skeptical at this point that we're going to see him opening night, just based on what we've seen out of him at practice.
He's doing a lot of just well, no contact.
That's the stage is that right now is no contact, but he's not doing a whole lot of running and cutting.
We're not seeing a ton of that.
It's a lot of stationary shooting stuff, so that tells me that he's a little ways away.
They're going to slowly ramp him off.
I don't know that we see him Tuesday night opening night.
I don't know that it'll be ready by then, but when he is man, that's gonna be a luxury for the Lakers.
You're bringing in Cosmo with that bench unit.
That could be really, really good and I do expect him to come off the bench to start.
But this is a guy that can get out there and really fill it up.
So exciting to think about what the Lakers second unit can be, too, if you've got to go to score like Kyle Kuzma out there on the team.
Allen Thomas, This team, if healthy, is gonna win it all.
Alan, I love the optimism, man. I really do.
I like the optimism.
I don't want to get ahead of ourselves.
We do need to take a little bit of a breath and remember that it's still preseason.
And as exciting as this blowout win was, it is just a pre season game.
The Warriors weren't playing Steph Curry that where you're servicing Clay Thompson.
Okay, s so we can't just assume Oh, let's start planning the parade right now because of a preseason win.
But this looked awfully good. Hay.
It looked really good.
No, I don't think the Warriors are a good team right now, so let's see what they can do Tuesday night against the Clippers.
Let's see what they can do Friday when they take on the Utah Jazz.
There's gonna be some more difficult games coming up some real tests for them.
The Western Conference is gonna be a dogfight, and the Warriors, as presently constituted.
I don't know how good they really are.
So we're gonna find out right? There's gonna be a proving ground.
It could be the Lakers who just beat up on a bad team.
I still think the Lakers are going to be good, but it's not like they're going to steamroll everyone.
Ah, Nevil murdered a How is Caruso tonight? From Periscope on, Lee caught the end.
So Caruso was Captain America.
I mean, one of our favorites heading into the offseason.
He's part of the Mame team, a guy that was that was getting all kinds of great means.
If you caught the one of him that would look well, he actually had drug testing him because of it, because the picture started circulating of a just absolutely ripped Alex Caruso looked like Steve Rogers after getting the Super soldier serum.
That's why we call him Captain America.
Uh, he's not had a great pre season.
There's no getting around it.
He hasn't been great. He's been okay.
Like the defense of end.
He's been fine, but one of four shooting.
He's had a real problem finishing at the rim, so that's been an issue for him in preseason.
That's prevented him from really getting a ton of minutes out there.
I thought he was a guy that if you played at the level he was at the end of last season, could contend for a starting role.
Right now that doesn't look to be in the cards.
Okay, If you get some spot minutes here and there, so be it.
I think they're probably going to still lean on Rajon Rondo so I wouldn't be surprised Based on what we've seen in preseason, If we see some d.
N. P s coming for Alex Caruso.
But that does not mean that I'm out on him.
That does not mean that he can't still be a factor here.
He's just not playing that well right now.
We know he's got another level he can get to, and it could be a little bit of growing pains, taking a little bit of time to adapt to the new team. We'll see.
He's got another level to this game, though, so I'm confident that he's a better player than what we've seen so far.
And what is an admittedly small sample size.
So again, Alex Caruso.
Not great, but still coming.
Okay, Walter Vin.
The wand from Facebook Chemistry is good with the new squad.
Yeah, it looks like these guys are enjoying playing together, and here's what I think a lot of this is it's not.
It's not just that they're winning right now.
I mean, winning is fun, and so that can build chemistry in and of itself.
But you've also got very established roles.
Everyone knows what their job is on this team.
And you couldn't say that last year, Okay, when LeBron was on the bench, is it? Rondo's showed a run.
Is it loans? A ball showed running.
We've talked about this before.
What's Brandon Ingram role? Is he going to be the guy stepping behind the three point line and shooting a lot of threes isn't gonna be slashing to the rim.
Nobody really knew these guys were all still growing with this veteran heavy team the Lakers have Now.
We know exactly what everybody's role is.
K C P is going to come in off the bench.
He's going to shoot threes.
He's gonna play defense.
Danny Green three Indy Avery Bradley is a three Indy guard.
You know exactly what the rules are he's gonna cut to the basket a little bit.
Jerry Doubly is gonna be a veteran presence he's gonna defend.
He's the guy that's not gonna care if he doesn't touch the ball on the offensive end.
Hey, he's got that role.
He makes money based on doing that.
JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard keep it simple.
Rolled in the basket, finish at the rim.
Just don't the ball.
That's all they need to do.
Pay, rebound, box out, play good defense, protect the rim.
Their rules are all very, very set.
And when you simplify things for players like that, you enable them to find success because they can focus on exactly what you need them to do.
And when you have players finding individual success, those are gonna be happy players that are gonna enjoy playing together.
So got to really like that.
See, you get a lot of questions coming in.
I don't even know how to say this name, but from Periscope Kobe uh, Kurt Top, that's I butchered it, I'm sure.
But looking forward to this season, go to my first Laker game Ever Loved from the Netherlands? A welcome in from the Netherlands.
And so glad that you're getting to go to your first Lakers game.
Hopefully it's a good one.
Hopefully, the Lakers can pick up a win for you.
There I bleed purple and gold from periscope.
What? Your thoughts on Quinn Cook? We talked about him a little bit.
Really excited about him.
Really? Enjoy what he can do out there on the floor.
Uh, Carnell Michelle Johnson. Welcome back.
Remember you from last season? KCP needs to be treated.
Okay, here's the problem.
KCP gets the wrath of Lakers fans and I get why.
Hey, look, the Lakers paid him what? 18 million? His first season.
12 million last season.
Now he's at eight million, which I'm actually okay with.
At first it sounded kinda gross.
Eight million for KCP.
But then you look at what his contemporaries were getting around the league.
He got basically what? Rodney Hood got.
Similar sized deal.
I'm okay with that.
Okay? With the contract itself.
But I can understand where you would question why they're bringing KCP back.
Isn't just a clutch sports thing.
Yeah, that's probably a factor.
But if you're looking to trade him, here's the problem.
the Lakers gave a player option to a lot of these guys JaVale, McGee, Avery Bradley, KCP a few others.
And with that second year player option in these two year deals, what that means is that they effectively have a no trade clause because that option for the second year isn't picked up, which means the first year is the only year that's guaranteed.
And if you're going to trade a player that's on a one year contract, that player could be losing their bird rights.
If they're traded, they could be negatively impacted if they're traded.
So the player is then able to speak up and say, No, I don't want to lose my bird rights.
I don't want to be traded, Okay, So in other words, KCP has a defect of no trade clause.
So if you're gonna trade him somewhere, it has to be somewhere that he actually wants to go.
Does he want to leave Los Angeles? We don't know that you can't just start throwing him into trade talks because it's pretty complicated due to that no trade clause that he's got again, not an official no trade clause, but it's a defacto no trade clause.
It it operates just like that.
Okay, so that's gonna be a knish.
You, James Rose from Facebook.
Cook is a huge pickup for us at point guard.
Yes, absolutely agree.
I'm high on Quinn Cook.
I think his shooting ability is gonna be great.
Ah, Billy, not Crystal from periscope.
Realistically, do you see there on court philosophy holding up all season long? And by that do you mean that the defense first philosophy, I'm sure.
I think teams, we're going to find ways to expose it.
Teams are gonna find ways to find weaknesses.
They're going to do that as they start looking at film.
They're going to to locate whatever they can that's going to exploit any deficiencies that the Lakers have.
But ultimately, I think a defense first approach is the way to go for this team.
You look at the personnel that they've got and it makes a lot of sense to focus on the defensive end, especially since it takes time to build chemistry on the offensive end.
And if you can get easy points out in transition because you're getting stops on defense, take him because the offense is gonna be a little bit of a challenge, and we saw that we saw where there was a little bit of, ah, miscommunication.
Sometimes there was, ah, little bit of uncertainty on the offensive end, which is totally to be expected.
Look, Jared Dudley said, Four months said, Give us four months to figure out our chemistry on the offensive end.
It doesn't happen overnight.
Okay, so, yeah, I like the idea of going defense first.
Forced some turnovers, get some easy buckets in transition that could help mitigate some of those issues.
Sports Fan, 23 from Periscope, said, As long as KCP doesn't dribble or throw lobs, he's totally fine.
They'll get too worked up yet.
I think he has his moments.
And, I think, were some of the frustration from Lakers fans.
Stems from is that his best moments came after the Lakers were already eliminated from the playoffs last season.
It was like then he turned it on and there was frustration that he wasn't doing that when it really mattered.
There is a better version of KCP and yes, he makes some bonehead to play sometimes, but he can be a useful eh NBA player He's just he's just an average player.
Starting lineup? Yes, and yes, I think the starting lineup from tonight needs to be the starting lineup opening night.
And I'm talking about about Avery Bradley.
Dany Greene, LeBron James. 80.
Roll it out there.
I like it a lot.
I like Avery Bradley in that role.
I almost say it's not a direct comparison, but I almost think of him as like the Lakers own version of Patrick Beverley.
That three nd point guard that can get in there really defend guys at a high level.
I think he can be that not necessarily as good as Patrick Bradley.
He's very, very good.
Okay, no question.
But I think he can play that type of role.
He you did well, uh, part the site.
Good to see you back.
Good to be back, man.
Your ideal starting five just went over.
That those guys would be would be my guys to go with Michael Serna from Periscope.
Why his cousin suited up when he's not close to being physically healthy.
Okay, so Michael Cera is asking this from periscope cousins on the bench in Lakers gear He's bringing him in there making part of the team, all right, and we know he's got legal issues.
We know he's got that.
You know, that whole thing? Well, I don't know which way that's going to go.
I'm not going to even speculate on that, Okay, but if there's some point where he's able to come back, maybe by the playoffs, maybe he's able to come back.
You want him to feel like he's part of the team, but you do You want to bring him in, And mentally, it's tough for these, But it's tough when you're having to go into rehab every single day and you don't feel like you're part of the team and you're kind of the outcast you're there.
But you're not really there because you can't play. You can't get on the floor.
That's really hard for these guys.
Okay, that's a difficult thing, especially if you look at what Cousins has gone through now he's got the A C L.
Before that, it was the Achilles originally and then it was the quad injury in the playoffs last year.
So he's been dealing with a lot, so I think it's the right move for the Lakers to keep him in the fold.
Keep in this part of the family, so to speak is part of the team, because who knows? Maybe he heals up quickly enough to come back this season.
And if he does great, doesn't mean you have to use him.
Okay, But maybe you could.
It comes a point where you need him and he's able to go.
And if not, if not, isn't he a guy that you at least want to have, like, enjoyed his time with the Lakers? You want a guy that feels connected to the Lakers because he's probably getting a minimum contract next year? Okay, this coming summer, if he wants to keep playing, he's gonna get a minimum contract.
It's gonna be a prove it deal with a one year deal If he's gonna go anywhere for the minimum.
Don't you want him with the Lakers knowing that knowing is skill set, knowing that if he somehow stays healthy, he's gonna vastly out perform that contract? Yeah, you want him on your side.
And on top of that, he's good buddies with Anthony Davis.
A in part because Rajon Rondo and Anthony Davis are here in l. A.
So don't you want cousins enjoying his time with the Lakers and thinking, Gosh, I want to stay here when I heal up so that Anthony Davis is also thinking, Hey, I've been wanting to play with Cousins again and he's healthy now.
If I stay in Los Angeles, I can do that.
I'm not saying I think Anthony Davis is considering leaving or anything like that.
We are a long ways away from crossing that bridge, but I'm saying it doesn't hurt.
So there's a lot of reasons why you want to keep Anthony Davis in the fold.
Louis, Armand, Erez Do the Lakers beat the Clippers on opening night? Well, I'd be placing a lot of bets if I knew that.
But look, the Clippers are a good team.
There's no question, all right, there's no denying it.
I'm not gonna just take shots of them. They're a good team.
I like the team they've assembled.
Montrose Harold, the high energy, big pizzas, you bots.
We know him well.
Lou Williams can light up in a minute's notice.
Patrick Beverley is that pesky defender Kawai Leonard.
He's kind of good.
They're not gonna have.
George, I'm gonna say the Lakers get the win, okay? I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say I'm gonna be optimistic.
I'm going to say the Lakers get the wind on opening night, but again, that's not disrespect to the Clippers or anything like that.
I think they've got a good team, a solid team.
But right now, no, Paul.
George, I think the Lakers go out and get the win.
Sports fan 23 periscope.
Daniels The odd man out If the Lakers get lucky with a G, so could be it could end up being DeMarcus cousins.
If Iguodala does wind himself wind up getting free of the Memphis Grizzlies, he gets a buyout, Then I think the Lakers could use them.
I think they could use another wing defender.
Looks that way on their roster right now.
If he gets bought out, the what a dream Oh, Dombrowski said the other day was that he was going to decide between the Lakers and the Clippers that it was gonna be between the two l A teams.
Now the Clippers, I think one would l A just so the Lakers don't get him.
I don't think the Clippers can actually use him all that much.
They already have so many wings.
I don't think you would get that many minutes.
And hopefully that's something in with Allah.
Recognizes the Lakers, I think, could legitimately use him out on the floor.
They would need him in the playoff run.
I think that he's a guy that they should really target.
So if he has a clear head and he sees what I see right where the Clippers probably don't have that many minutes for him and he comes to the Lakers, they're gonna have to free up a roster spot somehow.
Maybe Troy Daniels.
That's the name we've speculated about.
Maybe it's DeMarcus cousins.
Maybe it's revealed that he's definitely not coming back this season, and they decided, cut bait.
They can still let him hang around to train in their facility.
He could still rehab there.
So maybe that's a round they go.
Nate, Callie, do you think Bradley should start over Cozma? So the question really is what is Koosman gonna be long term? Is he gonna be this all star level player if he is.
That's hard to keep him out of the starting lineup.
But in terms of chemistry, in terms of fit, I like Avery Bradley out there.
Let's say you swapped the two.
Let's say Cruz was 100% and you swapped the two and Avery Bradley goes to the bench and Koosman comes in.
Who's defending the opposing point? Guards like, Let's say Steph Curry was out there tonight.
Who is defending him? Danny Green.
You're gonna have Danny Green Chase point guards all game.
He could do it a little bit, but is that really what you want him doing on a night tonight basis? Russell Westbrook, Damian Lillard.
All these other players that are out there, these really good guards that are in the N B A.
Right now, you need someone who can defend them, and I do like the idea of Koosman coming in as a scorer off the bench as well.
He can close games out, be part of the death line up, so to speak, so I don't think it would be a demotion for crews to come off the bench.
I think he's still probably their third best player, but in terms of fit overall.
I like Bradley in the starting lineup just because I think it makes more sense defensively to go with that.
Josh Weeks agrees that he's 100% starting over Koosman.
Kuzma is their sixth man.
Know that guy, says Kuzma.
Coming off the bench long term.
Might have a killer's second unit yet again, Kuzma.
And like, Look, Koosman and Dwight Howard on paper, that's a pretty good combo.
Okay, like that.
Cosmo would fit well in the Lamar Odom type coming in from Periscope.
100% Kuzma in that Lamar Odom type role.
We can be that versatile player that can come in.
Probably be your first player coming in off the bench, Agree? Wouldn't mind seeing him in that kind of a role.
Ricky saying what would be your five man bench unit? Okay, so if they decide to go with a full five man bench mob, I haven't put a whole lot of thought into this, but I'm assuming we've got Dwight at the five Kuzma at the four, assuming that he is healthy, a toothy one.
Based on what we've seen tonight, I think there's there's no question there at the two.
I still like Alex.
He's 65 He's got the size to play the position, and I think he's got more to his game than what we've seen in preseason, so I probably go Alex Caruso at the two.
You could argue KCP.
Maybe KCB comes in as the three, though, so I wouldn't mind seeing that Alex Caruso is the to KCP is the three.
Maybe you makes Jared Dudley in.
If you want a little bit extra defense on the floor, I think he can shoot from outside.
And I like how smart he is on the defensive end.
So you could make an argument there, KCP or W the three.
And this is why I think that the Lakers need Iguodala.
Why they need another wing defender.
Because if you look at that, look at that bench unit, there isn't really a true small forward that you can put in there.
There's not like Dudley.
I like him better as a four at this stage in his career, he's more before KCP.
He's not really a three like you can do it, but he's more of a two.
So either way, you're asking somebody to play out of position.
That's why I think you could really use a guy like medulla.
Colonel Michelle Johnson.
Why did the Lakers let Stockton go? Uh, so stock that John Stockton son, uh, he's probably gonna wind up with South Bay Lakers.
They just wanted to free up a roster spot and give another guy a look that he wasn't making the team.
He wasn't making the full roster.
Most likely, he'll wind up with the South Bay Lakers, and that's how that's gonna go.
You're going to see some moves like that.
Some guys that we really like are gonna get cut.
And these guys are probably gonna make their way to the South Bay Lakers unless another team comes in there.
Llorona, p said Rondo on man out.
Ah, you caught that? Yeah.
So look, I think Quinn Cook is better than Rondo.
At this point and again, we're only seeing one preseason game, but I think what he provides is more than what Rondo can provide.
I think that Rondo can still get spot minutes in there.
But on the defensive end, hey gets But lucky Quinn Cook was one of the worst offensive guards in the league last year. So was Rondo.
They were both equally bad defensively, But on the offensive end, at least Quinn Cook can make up for it. Rondo.
I think he can organize an offense, but I just think you have a more dynamic player in Quinn Cook right now.
So, yes, I would have Rondo as the odd man out.
I look, I still like him as a veteran on the team.
He's a guy that a lot of players respect.
But I'm I would be really getting him spot minutes at this point.
That's That's where I'd be at Sports Fan.
23 from Periscope Gigi over Caruso.
There would be perfect and course it keeps Rondo out.
Yeah, Shane Howerton also agrees with me from Facebook on, um, Rondo heading to the bench again.
Rondo probably wouldn't be thrilled about it, and I have a feeling the Lakers coaching staff enjoys having Rondo out there like they they have that respect for him.
So I think he's still gonna get minutes.
But if it were up to me.
I'd be leaning more on Quinn Cook at this point, by the way again.
Guys, thank you so much for joining me here.
Obviously, there's a great wind for the Lakers and appreciate you guys jumping on here with you.
So let's see Andrew Davis from Facebook.
Norville Jr will be in the Lakers future with a bunch of question marks.
So, look, Zach Norville looked tremendous, By the way. I did not know this.
Someone on Twitter actually found me after the game Monday night and clued me in on the fact that Zach nor Bells nickname and this is legit is snacks.
Really? You like to snack a lot as a kid, and, uh, it's stuck.
So his nickname is actually snacks.
So he, uh, he had a great game 22 points Monday night. Look. Fantastic.
Shot the three ball.
Really? Well, these are all things that you want to see out of.
Ah, out of a shooting guard for the lakers now.
They're a veteran heavy team, so I don't think they're gonna, like stick with him or anything like that.
I don't think you're gonna expect to see in the town in the regular season.
Expect to see him a lot with South Bay Lakers.
But good things so far.
And these are the kind of steals that the Lakers need.
Thio need tohave, right? This is a guy who they got undrafted, undrafted free agent.
Given the fact that they don't have many draft picks coming up, it's pretty important that they find some diamonds in the rough.
And so, well, I don't expect them to step in and contribute right away.
I'm still pretty excited about what they found here in Zach Norville.
I think it's gonna take time, and you got to bring him along slowly.
I'm gonna say the same thing about Taylan, Horton Tucker, but Zach Norville snacks.
Norville, if you will.
I think that he can be a player for them moving forward into the future.
If they experience some injuries, KCP gets hurt.
Danny Green, something like that where they need somebody to come in.
I'd expect him to be on the short list of guys that they're gonna call Sergio with a bunch of numbers after it from periscope.
Do you think a cock can solidify himself on the team, so he's just like normal.
The Lakers don't have an open roster spot, so and novels on a two way contract so he can lease bounce back and forth.
But que cock is good.
I'm hoping sticks with the South Bay Lakers because I'd love for him to stay in the link or system.
I wonder if some other teams are going to see what he's done here and try to swoop in and grab him and bring him onto their rosters.
That could happen, but I would love to see him stick around.
I don't think there's any way that they can really keep him.
Keep him unless you're looking at maybe getting rid of coasters on such a couple, which I don't think you want to do that and then give it to a contract to K cock.
But again, he has looked really good and I'm hoping that he sticks in, um, sticks in there.
Carnell, Michelle John said, win total prediction for the Lakers this year.
Okay, so they're over under was 51.5.
I'm gonna go the slide over.
I'm gonna say they hit 52 53 wins.
I'm gonna go slightly over on that one on the N B A for an office show with my co host, Keith Smith.
We're talking about this on the last one.
Check it out on Apple podcast.
We broke down the Lakers and their win loss record, but I think that's where I'm gonna fall with it just because I think there's gonna be some nights and look, the Western Conference is gonna be nuts, all right? It's gonna be crazy.
They're gonna be beating up on each other all these powerhouse teams in the West.
But there's gonna be some nights where a.
D needs a night off.
LeBron needs a night out.
There's gonna be load management nights built in there.
There's gonna be some schedule losses where you have guys resting, OK, and that's okay.
As long as the Lakers are in the playoffs.
I don't care that much about where they finished.
Like I I don't want to see them finished eighth or anything like that.
But if they finish 5th 4th 6 anyone I don't care what I care most about is are they healthy? And so that means taking nights off like your scene.
I hold my breath because Anthony Davis, like he crashes to the floor 56 times a game and it's scary.
It really is knowing his injury history and knowing how important it is to this team.
You're going to need to force these guys to take some nights off.
And so I think the Lakers will drop some games.
I don't think they're gonna, you know, win 62 games, 65 games, anything like that this season, because again, I think they need to take their foot off the gas a little bit of times in order, rest up and be healthy for the playoffs.
I would rather than when 52 games and be healthy for the playoffs, then say 58 60 and coming up with the number one seed.
But they're being up and they're tired.
They're exhausted and all that heading into the playoffs.
I think it's more important that they're healthy, so that's the way I go there.
Remi Navarro from Periscope.
Thoughts on Troy Daniels.
So Troy Daniels.
I thought he was.
He's been good, okay, he did well, but then he's been he's been injured, so we haven't seen a whole lot of sense then this is a guy that can shoot.
But we saw him early in preseason, did pretty well knocked in a number of threes.
Yeah, Loca in that first game against the Golden State Warriors.
This is a guy who's, uh, you can come in and shoot, but that's about it.
And that's where I wonder, does Quinn Cook County usurp his role? Because Quinn Cook can shoot and create Troy Daniels can really just shoot.
So we'll see if they need somebody come in off the bench in and knock into three.
He's a guy you could turn to, but I'm not expecting in 10 minutes out of out of them or anything like that.
Uh, and parade days from Periscope.
Which team is their toughest matchup? Ah, toughest matchup.
So I'm gonna say I think the Denver Nuggets are gonna be a tough matchup because they've got the size to deal with the Lakers.
We've seen the Lakers dominate Golden State just because they're bigger and more physical.
But with a team like the Nuggets, you've got Yokich, you've got Paul Millsap in there.
They've got a guard who could get really hot in Murray.
You've got a number of players there that could do some really good things for them.
And Gary Harris.
I'm a big fan of his.
Who's the shooting guard? There gonna be a tough team? They're gonna be a team to deal with, so that could be an interesting matchup for them.
I think there's a teams that you're looking for, teams that can handle the size inside, okay, and I know there's not a lot of them, but there are some teams that can.
I think the Nuggets air one of them that can deal with it.
The Rockets, of course, can run you off the court, but I'm not too worried about their size in the pain or anything.
Russell Westbrook can get hot. James Harden.
Obviously, they're a team to deal with.
But you know, the Clippers have zoo bots and those guys in there and look, Zoo is good.
There's no denying that he's good, but I don't know that he can contend with what the Lakers were gonna be bringing inside.
So, uh, that again I fall back to the Denver Nuggets Utah Jazz.
That's the other team that I'd be worried about with go bear there at the rim might calm.
They run to the point.
That's a veteran, heavy team, very good at their outside shooting, very good play designed from Quin Snyder, and I think they're gonna be really good defensively.
So that's another team they would have to deal with.
LeBron has to run point.
Yeah, he is this comment coming in from Facebook? Yeah, LeBron is running point right now.
That's what he's doing.
He's not playing point guard on the defensive end.
You're not going to see that.
You're not going to see him defending Russell Westbrook because that doesn't make any sense.
But controlling the offense with the ball in his hands? Absolutely, Absolutely.
That's something that you're going to continue seeing from Periscope.
The real Steve 24.
How do you think the whole eggy thing plays out? I think ultimately they're gonna have to buy him out right now.
Memphis is wanting another pick for him.
They already got a pick.
They gotta pick for absorbing his salary from the Warriors.
The warriors paid them with a pick that it Actually I think pretty good, because it's pushed out so far, like they don't get it until I want to say 2024 off top of my head, and it's very lightly protected.
In fact, it even becomes unprotected at one point.
I think in 2026 I want to say 2025 it's top one protected.
So this could be a good pick if the Warriors start to slide downhill.
So they already got paid for absorbing Iguodala $17 million.
Now the Grizzlies air wanting to get paid again, forgiving him to somebody else.
So I get why teams were hesitant to do that and don't want to do that.
I think ultimately it's just gonna take somebody waiting out the Grizzlies and the Grizzlies finally saying, Okay, we'll let you go, That's what.
It's gonna come down to you, Walter Vineland opening game next Tuesday.
Who do you think will win the match up with the Clippers? I said, the Lakers.
I'm gonna stick with that.
That prediction. I'm gonna be optimistic.
I'm gonna say, uh, the Lakers part the side.
Dwight seems to be understanding and embracing his role.
Both him and developed an average double doubles.
Yeah, I think they can.
Um I don't know that you'll see that necessarily a nightly basis.
I think they can average a double double combined.
I think that's pretty.
I think that's pretty safe.
Okay, I think combined 18 rebounds.
I'd put him at 18 rebounds, definitely double figures in the points.
Probably what, 20 points? 28 18 as it combined.
If you could wear to combine their minutes and center, I think that's what you're looking for from them.
I think one of them will get double digit rebounds on a given night.
The other one will wind up with, you know, like seven or eight.
That's why I'm going.
With 8 18 rebounds combined.
Ralph RoHaas from Facebook Will cruise movie back in time for Game one? He'll probably be rusted.
Yeah, that's the concern.
Look, he hasn't gone full speed.
He's done noncontact drills in practice.
The next step is for him to play a little bit of one on one.
Then after that, we're looking at three on three.
After that five on five, he's got to get his legs under him.
I'm saying No, I think Kuzma is out for opening night now.
That is not official.
That is my guess.
Okay, but just based on where he's at right now.
I think the Lakers are gonna be patient with him and I don't think he's gonna be out there.
I hope I hope I'm wrong.
I hope that he's fully healthy, feels great, gets him some good practices, and they decided to let him go play 15 20 minutes or something on opening night.
That would be great.
I would love to see it, but I don't think it's gonna happen.
Where's Rondo? Rondo actually was given the night off the rest veteran.
No problem with him resting tonight.
No big deal there laying Pierce from periscope, which Lakers to a player makes.
A biggest impacts of the two way players are cost us onto to Campo exact Norville.
Based on what we've seen so far, both of them can make an impact.
I think it really depends on injuries.
It depends on what the Lakers need.
If they need a big onto, Cooper is going to get the call. They need a guard.
It's gonna be Zach Norval.
That's what it's gonna come down to, Um, so I I think they both could make an impact.
It just depends on who gets the opportunity Really at this point? Uh, the periscope account.
Ingram Goat Ingram is a huge loss.
Well, based on the name your account.
Yeah, but look, I miss you guys too.
Like I mean, I'm gonna be tuning in to watch the pelicans play.
Long's a ball. Brandon Ingram. Josh Heart.
Those were the good guys.
Those guys didn't ask to be traded or anything like that.
Didn't ask the Lakers to to ship them out, but the Lakers had to do it.
You had to do it.
Nor to get Anthony Davis so you can understand that.
Okay, But I was high on England's potential. I still am.
I still think you could be a really good player high on Lonzo ball that he's gonna be a lot of fun to watch this season.
I wish they had been able to keep him.
Okay, I was very public about this.
Said that that going into these trade discussions, I wanted the Lakers to keep one of three things I wanted them to keep either lonzo ball.
That was number one on my list.
I wanted him to be the guy they kept Brandon Ingram was second on my list and a combo of coups.
Moe and Josh Hart.
I wanted them to get one of those three things.
They didn't get any of those they got.
Just Cosmo, which is okay.
You got Anthony Davis.
Okay, but yeah, I'll miss seeing those guys play, too.
Gotta says Trevor Lane, you need to sleep.
Yes, I D'oh, I'm I'm tired.
I've been getting ready for the regular season.
I've been up late working on stuff, doing Lakers Nation podcast, doing videos, doing all kinds of stuff.
So that's why I'm still going here like this.
And also, I just drink some of time energy drink, and that is definitely keeping me going here.
And Paret is from periscope.
How about a D and cook together? I like that combo.
Like I said, Cook is really good at playing out of that pick and roll on D D is pretty darn good playing on a pick and roll himself.
So, yes, I like that combo a lot.
Think that's the way we're gonna go? Edward Chen is tonight's starting lineup will see an opening day.
Yes, I believe so.
I wonder what happened to Alex Caruso? I thought he's competing for a starter position, but can't see it.
Yeah, right now, I can either.
And I was hoping he would be right there.
But based on what we've seen so far in preseason, I don't think he is a legitimate threat to be a starter right now.
He just hasn't been finishing well enough of the rib has been playing all that well, all right.
I still think you can get to another level.
He can play well, but as of this moment, I don't think that that he's gonna be the guy to be the starter just doesn't seem that way.
24 on periscope.
Can I have your job? L O l No, you can't.
Because I like my job, and I plan on continuing doing it.
But I can tell you this.
I get people asking me this all the time, So excuse me if I get preachy here for a minute, but I get people asking me That's all the time.
How did you get started in this? How do you do something like this? How do you get involved in the sports industry.
Uh, look, you just go and you do it.
You want to know how I got started? I got started by years and years ago, starting my own blawg.
Okay? I wanted to see having a writing background.
I wanted to see if I could really write sports.
If it was something that I could do consistently making zero money just because I love doing it Could I do it? And could I do it consistently? And could I keep it up? I did that for about 1/2 a season, 3/4 of the season.
And I thought, Yes, I can do this.
And I got better and better.
And I kept practicing, kept working.
And then I got a call from a site.
Got picked up from there.
My work got noticed by Lakers Nation.
They hired me, and the rest is history.
Pay a spot opened up through on a podcast.
We didn't have a podcast going at that at the time.
The podcast that we'd had previously had stopped.
And so they need somebody to host.
I was awful terrible, but they gave me a shot.
They let me work through it.
They let me get better and better.
And that's how I got where I am right now.
And I'm continuing to grow and get better.
That's what it's all about.
It's all about continuing to strive, continuing to push forward and, uh, just putting yourself out there.
Go there and do it.
If it's something that you want to do work, work, work, work, work.
Be willing to get nothing for it at first.
But you gotta work hard. You can get it.
Madams said from Periscope.
How do you think Vogel is with the team, Huh? Is doing with him? I think he's doing well.
I think we're starting to see some more offensive wrinkles, So I liketo we've seen out of Frank Vogel so far.
No complaints from my end.
Anyway, like his defense first focus will see how they do against some of the better teams.
Maybe some weaknesses will be exposed there.
We'll see how that happens.
And parade is what's the best assist you've ever seen that LeBron passes right there for me? Yeah, I agree.
That's got to be right up there.
A ce faras the best assist ever.
That's it was amazing.
There's no question that pass.
But look, I grew up watching Magic Johnson.
I grew up on Showtime, so I'm going to defer to some Magic Johnson passes the no look passes, but this was on that level.
There's no question that is one of the best pass I've ever seen that passed that he pulled off.
It was a very Steve Nash esque pass that LeBron pulled off tonight, flipping it over his head to dating green out behind the three point line.
Thank the basketball gods dating green non town.
That shot because if you hadn't man, that would have not ruined the highlight.
But it wouldn't have been as impactful but still incredible passed by LeBron.
Definitely one of the best I've ever seen.
And I'm not going to say it's the best.
But certainly one of them really, really good.
Uh, Edward Chen, do you see any holes after tonight's game? I think we're almost perfect.
I mean, look, there's gonna be some holes there.
Three point defense from their bench unit didn't look good against the Brooklyn Nets.
They exposed that a little bit.
That's something they're gonna need to work out.
I think the starters do just find you a nice job closing out.
But the bench unit has got to be careful that they're not giving up open threes.
So something to keep an eye on there are certainly holds in the game.
They've been playing the Warriors Aton in preseason.
In fact, they play them for all but two preseason games.
So let's wait till we see them going up against some teams with different levels of talent.
Then you're going to start to see some holes appeared.
They are not saying they're not a good team.
But you're going to start seeing some things that are working.
Okay, you're going to see some weaknesses, show up and that's okay.
We'll see how they address them.
But, yes, that they're not a perfect ing.
There's no question there.
Okay, customize a plate from Periscope said so when is it time to finally call Rob Pelinka a genius? Um, if they got Kawai, then yes, I'd be calling them a genius.
But based on the situation they were in this offseason, look, he did really did as well as you could have hoped based on where they were based on where they were when quite made his decision and the money they had left to spend.
I think he spent it fairly wisely.
You can argue with some things you can say.
Maybe they shouldn't have given eight million to KCP.
Okay, you could make that argument.
You could say, Why did you give that money to Troy Daniels? When you probably don't need another guard, they're pretty guard heavy, like that's That's an issue.
Why don't you have another wing out there? There's some problems there, but overall, and I'm including DeMarcus cousins in this because they didn't know he was gonna get hurt.
DeMarcus cousins for 3.
5 million is an absolute steal.
And so I'm gonna say, I think he did a very good job.
Given the situation, I think you did well, we'll see how it all plays out.
It looks good right now, though.
Henry Wong B W ay, said from Periscope.
Do you think Dwight can keep playing at a high level all season long? That's the question.
Can he avoid injury? Can you continue playing 33 years old? Probably gonna need some nights off here and there.
The right now, you've got to be pretty pleased with what we're seeing out of Dwight Howard.
Edward sent from Facebook.
So should we get 1/3 star and upcoming free agency? Who should we get? They're not gonna have any money.
Assuming Anthony Davis fingers crossed takes their their Max offer.
Uh, that means that they there's not gonna be money to spend Great.
They'll have a mid level exception that will be just over nine million that they'll have to offer starting So And given the free agent market, there's not gonna be a lot of dollars out there.
But there's also not a lot of players on next summer's free agent market, so I wouldn't say they're going to get another star.
They might be able to find a bargain, though, for that mid level exception.
They might need to be able to find somebody who doesn't want to go play for one of these young rebuilding teams for the money that they have to offer, instead decides to go to the Lakers.
That's possible that you find a veteran that's ready to come in.
I do think there's gonna be some options, but We're also way ahead of ourselves.
We're not even through preseason yet.
Let's just enjoy this before we start worrying about who the Lakers going to spend on next summer, Place Edwin's time to pay Kyle Kuzma so Koosman can get.
I'm gonna look it up just to make sure, uh, who's making an extension this year? He is.
Does he have left under contract? Oblivious to years? Yep.
So is this year and next year under contract, both them our team options, they could extend him beyond then.
I would like to see them get something worked out with him.
We'll see what they ultimately want doing.
But they've got him this year for 1.
9 million, which is a bargain next year for 3.
5 million. Another bargain.
And then after that, he's gonna have to be be paid.
So after that 2020 2021 season, they'll have to be paid Now.
The Lakers have no salaries on the books as of this moment after that season, not this season, but the season after that summer 2021.
They have zero salaries except for a player option for LeBron James at 41 million.
So, in theory, depending on what Anthony Davis does, they could have a bunch of cap room there.
But let's assume Anthony Davis is gonna eat up most of their space that summer.
Ah, it's possible they could go spend on another star that summer.
It could happen.
Okay? Again, Not this coming summer, but the one after they could have money to go spend.
Um could be interesting.
Something to keep an eye on for sure.
But again, right now, let's just enjoy this this season and where it's at, like Ah Ali al ago.
Do you think KCP will be traded? Uh, look, it's possible they almost traded him last year.
They had a deal in the works that was going to send him out for um Oh, gosh, I'm forgetting who it was that they were gonna send him out for it.
Waas, I can't remember who was off top my head.
It was Ah, Andrew Wiggins, draft number two overall pick.
And for some reason, the name's escaping me.
I remember the player, remember the guy, but the name's escaping me.
Okay? I'm sure you guys can come fired off.
They had a deal off.
That was gonna I was gonna bring that guy in for KCP.
So that was somebody that they were going to set up.
But again, KCP had a no trade clause.
I'm glad I I I'm glad I pronounce your name correctly, but, yes, they had a good They had a good deal that was looking like it was gonna be set up.
But then ultimately, they decided to focus instead on landing.
Anthony Davis wants his trade request came in.
Um, all right, so am Paret is what you're doing.
Halftime show's over the season.
Yeah, that's something we talked about.
There's also a live streaming option.
So we'll do some halftime shows here and there.
Okay, those will definitely come in will be.
And by the way, this is gonna go out to YouTube as well.
Right now, I'm just looking at Periscope and Facebook.
That's where I'm sending these two as well.
A sportscaster sending it to those three places right now will also be sending them to the Lakers nation YouTube channel.
So make sure you check that out.
These will be going there.
We may do some halftime shows another thing that we'll be doing.
It's, um, second screen experience is so sportscaster, which is a a company we've been working with what's cool about them and I did this at 4 30 in the morning, both times when the Lakers played the Brooklyn Nets is that there's no delay.
So when I'm on Facebook alive, there's a little bit of like you guys don't see what I'm saying.
It doesn't come through to you until 30 seconds later, a minute later.
That's not very useful.
When a game is live and we want to talk about live action because then I'm so far behind.
It's probably just annoying to watch.
Sportscaster doesn't have that.
They're like time is like a second.
So that's something that I plan on using here and there to do some second screen experience.
That way I can actually watch the game with you guys while the game's going on.
We can have a discussion about the game itself.
It's happening, Okay, so that's something to be on The lookout for two will be doing that a few times.
Daniel Perry, Jabari Parker Thank you.
Why? I couldn't think of that name? Yes.
Jabari Parker was the guy they were looking to trade K C p for.
Obviously. Did not happen, though.
Thank you for you.
You guys trying to in Jabari Parker.
So and by the way, So you guys were sending that as I'm seeing your comments pop up on the screen.
It's about a minute after I actually said that if you've been following along so you can see there's that delay there, but yes, thank you guys for throwing out Jabari Parker. Appreciate that.
Um, all right, so some comments about the clippers moving out of Staples Center.
Yeah, they're trying to get a arena built in Inglewood will see what I winds up happening with that.
But again, nothing for certain.
As of this moment, I do think they are moving forward That though.
Okay, guys, I think we're gonna wrap up their great night for the Lakers.
I'm seeing customized plate saying I don't want any starters playing tomorrow night rest before the Clippers game.
Yes, they're playing Friday.
They play the warriors again.
I've seen enough.
As fun as it was watching LeBron at a D go out there and play as fun as this game was.
I don't need to see it again.
Keep him on the bench.
