Welcome to the Laker Central podcast.
I'm your host, Alex.
Welcome to the live stream, man.
The Lakers are up big on the Warriors right now.
The Lakers have looked really good.
Folks like really, really good.
Um, everything is clicking tonight, and so LeBron running the point looks amazing.
Dwight looks good.
Um, Quinn Cook is finally back.
Kid been out a while.
He had a sore ankle.
This is his first game back for the Lakers, the first time that us is Laker fans are getting to see him.
Many of us have already seen him play for Golden State.
Um, but to actually see him in the purple and gold, I mean, Quinn Cook 13 points.
He's a plus 12 on the court.
Couple assist, couple rebounds, three of four from three point land.
Quinn Cook is a really quick trigger, and I don't know if that's something that this Lakers team has had in years.
Um, I can't think of the last person that could just rise up and shoot and do.
Looks really good.
Um, all all of the Lakers Lakers tonight rolled out there.
The starting lineup that they used toe open the season.
They started 80.
LeBron McGee, Danny Green, Avery Bradley.
A really solid defensive starting unit and the team came out really good.
I mean, LeBron's got 16 points, six assists, couple rebounds.
80 flirting with a triple double, even though he's probably not gonna play long enough tonight to get it.
But six points, four assists, five rebounds.
Avery Bradley's been really aggressive on the defensive end.
Um, and what's most positive about that is not just a CE his defensive game, um, but offensively hit a nice mid range hit a three pointer.
It's looking like he's starting to find his flow a little bit.
Um, developed really good.
Six points, five rebounds.
Um, Danny Green.
I mean, a lot hasn't been required.
I mean, he's got two points, but we haven't expected we haven't needed a whole locker room tonight and the starting line up or, you know, specifically the backcourt of Avery Bradley and Danny Green.
Um, it's one that's been successful before in the preseason, and one that I think the Lakers will probably go with to start.
You look at the bench and, um, Dwight Howard, 13 points, five rebounds.
Um, he's looked really, really good.
A couple lobs on put backs.
He looked really good in earlier today on Twitter.
Um, you know my Twitter feed at Laker Central 3 65 I was going back and forth with this guy who kept saying that, um, the white would get cut and I was like, Have you been watching the preseason? Like, you know, Game one? Dwight looked a little slow.
Looked like he was missing, um, his bounce that we're accustomed to seeing from him throughout his career.
But I kinda attribute that to him not playing since last November.
And he, you know, you got to get into game shape and every single preseason game.
Since then, Dwight has looked a little bit better.
And tonight I mean, he just looks really, really good.
And when you've got that kind of best production, um, Quinn Cook can provide the shooting.
Dwight Howard rebounding put backs things like that.
Solid defense as a big.
That's the kind of bench production that you want.
And you know, sometimes, you know, maybe it's just it's a different guy every night off the bench.
But to have two guys going like this is really good, and I don't know, you know, if everybody's paying attention to this, but Rondo is out.
Raisin Rhonda was tonight resting and, um, Quinn Cook.
This is his first game back, and this team looks better without Rondo.
Really small sample size.
It's just the first half of a game against the Golden State Warriors team that's clearly undersized, also undermanned.
D'Angelo's playing, but ah, step isn't playing the again.
There's no Katie Clay's out dream eyes.
Playing with Dream was not really a big offensive threat, but, um, it's It's not so much, you know this game is an indictment on Rondo as much as it is just seeing shooting on the floor and what it can do.
And if you were to take out Rondo and Ad M sorry takeout rundown at Quinn Cook, who's a legit three point shooter of legit floor space, sir, it just gives the offense more room, more room to operate.
And when Rondo is running the show, you know he's not really a threat on offense.
He's gonna find an open man, is gonna make the right past, but he's not a threat otherwise.
So you're always playing Rondeau for the past year, giving him a lot of space.
And I remember when when the Lakers played Boston, Um, cheese.
Now, if in a decade ago in the finals, but, like Kobe would guard, ran Rondo like four feet off of him, and that's when Rhonda was in his prime.
And so what we're seeing right now is someone like Quinn Cook who's out there, and you have to let you have to actually account for him on the court.
And that's as a three point guy or what we're seeing tonight, which I didn't expect to see from.
Anybody's getting into the paint.
He's making nice plays.
He's scoring in the paint.
I'm really happy to see that.
So I mean, Lakers Twitter's going bonkers right now.
It's gonna be crazy all season long.
I think it's only going to get better.
The team is a work in progress, you know, there's a lot that we still have to do.
I don't think that this is the roster that we will finish with.
I think that the Lakers will make some additional some additions.
Ah, in the buyout market in the trade market.
But this is this is really good.
You know, you don't take too much away from the preseason.
But one of the things that I take away is that regardless of its preseason, regular season or the playoffs, you know when you're better than a team, you need to show it.
And, you know, throughout my life as a Lakers fan, um, the Lakers were at times played down to their competition.
And so a game like today where the Lakers could have melted and they could have decided to rest Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
Um, you know a game where Steph isn't playing, You know, there are no other real superstars and the Golden State Warriors team the Lakers could a meld the game in and not not played anyone that's legit.
Or, you know, they could have played a D and LeBron and then, you know, they kind of goofed off a bit and not really put their their ah, foot on the neck of the opponent.
But this Laker Tain came, came out focused, vocals said he was gonna play 80 and LeBron 30 minutes or so they came up with with a legit starting lineup.
You know, it's really, really, really good to see.
And I'm really happy about what we're seeing right now.
Ah, in this particular game and I'm excited about what the season holds.
And I and I hope all Lakers fans are, too.
I'm really hoping that all Lakers fans are happy for Dwight. Howard.
Do looks really good, so you know it's fun.
I'll probably jump back on here, Um, when the game is over.
But I wanted to really jump on here. Lakers Twitter's jumping.
I really want to share my thoughts on what I've seen for the game.
