I'm back in the building.
Glad you're back in the building with me.
I had a long day.
I was at City College of New York CUNY College as I met with the coats with my daughter and it was cool was good.
We met for a really long time, really went into detail about its system, how it likes to play, what he's looking at from a daughter and stuff like that.
It was cool, but, you know, we'll talk about that another time.
I know you're here for the New York Knicks.
So what are we gonna do? We're gonna talk about the injury report who came out of practice injured, Who did practice, who did not practice.
We'll talk about that.
We'll talk about some contract situations.
We'll also talk about Julius.
Randle wants to make the All Star team.
David Fizdale said lineup tweaks may go on into the regular season.
That sounds pretty familiar to me.
You know me so well.
You know what? Let's go ahead and let's get this name popping.
Ladies, gentlemen, let's go.

So, you know, make sure you join me for that as well.

We got City for real and chat.
Let's City for real.
So what's up? And then we'll start getting to this injury report.
Ladies and gentlemen, we'll talk about that.
Okay? So let me bring my boy City over here.
Let me get my headphones on so I can hear and, Ah, man City, what's popular with your brother? How you feeling? Yo, was going on, sir.
I'm cooling, man. I'm chilling.
How are you? I am good, bro.
Okay, um, you know, how was your weekend? I know today's Monday, you know, saying, but how was your weekend? All weekend was good, man.
You know what? Weekend was good.
Uh, Yankees lost yesterday, but, you know, that's that's what happens.
But, you know, I mean, hopefully we come back and and and, uh, come back through all the jump off and get things.
Good things going, Uh, you know, I'm I'm excited, man.
I'm excited about this injury talk, man, because I got some stuff on the throne.
Only I got a little ****** wrench.
Children throwing. All right.
Well, give me a second.
We're gonna get to some injury talk, I and then I let you go, you little ****** wrench in there as we get to injury talk.
and look injuries and nothing new to the New York Knicks.
Lady and gentlemen, you know that.
You mean there's certain guys that seem to get injured all the time, So let's go ahead.
Let's get into it.
Coming out of training camp today.
The report from Today Now Damion Dotson was in full.
He was a full participant in practice today.
That is surprising to me, Very surprising because it was announced that Damian Dotson would miss the entire preseason.
Does this mean that is going to practice? I mean this.
Does this mean that is going to play? No, it does not.
No, it does not.
But at least it was in practice, limited practice today.
Kadeem Allen, with a strained right foot.
Kevin Knox, with a strained right calf, allows Old Tree with a strained neck and did not practice at all.
Was Frank Miller Aquino with this sore groin, and this seems to happen frequently with Frank Miller Akina that he has a sore growing.
I think it was by hard next life and it's sweet said.
You know, either Frank has a really sensitive groin or he's doing a little bit too much work with his growing.
You know, I'm paraphrasing it sweet, but you know what you know.
You know what he's getting that I don't know.
Maybe the French prince, you know? I mean, maybe he needs to cool out a little bit, you know me.
But did we go, man? Frightening.
Looking out with so going now, for all intensive purposes, purposes, it doesn't seem like the Knicks are worried about the groin injury.
Just a sore groin.
And we will hear from Fizdale a little bit later.
You know, talking about these guys injuries.
But it does sound like Dennis Smith Jr is ready to go, which is a good thing because he's had a sore back.
Maybe we'll finally get a chance to see him out there.
And maybe, you know, with these guys now you know these points, you know, frankly, allocate out Dennis Smith junior out.
Maybe this is their way of saying All right, You know what, Frank? You're not gonna play.
We're gonna let Dennis Smith Jr get this burn, you know? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see Frank for the for these last two preseason games and Dennis Smith Jr gets the burn, you know.
But either way, they're gonna have to figure out who's gonna play anyway between the three point guards.
And you didn't get a chance to see the video that I put out earlier today, early, very early this morning, about eight o'clock this morning.
X a question that we're gonna x later.
Wrong, But I give you some time to think about.
Would you put and Tony grope? Tony Crow brought this up to me.
Would you put Alonso traer and R J bearer in the backcourt together? We'll talk about that a little bit as we move on, you know what I'm saying? And we'll talk about reasons that the pros and the cars of having R.
Barrett and Frank I mean R J bear in Alonso Trio in the back court together as a starting duel we're talking about.
Maybe it's something that they can try out in pretty season.
We're not saying it has to be something that's set in stone.
It's a matter of fact David Fizdale doesn't have his lineups set in stone.
We'll talk about that, too.
Talk about that, too, before we here from City.
Let's go ahead and take a listen to David Fizdale as he discusses Frank Nil Aquino and he discusses Dennis Smith Jr able injuries.
All right, we're gonna take a listen to it.
Take a listen to All right, Now, let's listen in.
He's ready to go way, Frank.
Is it the same going? I don't know exactly what it is.
I know this is wrong, but again, I think we're still in that realm of way.
Try to put something re evaluated tomorrow.
All right, so there you go.
Frankly, Lucchino, he doesn't offer happened at practice yesterday.
There's not Not sure when it happened.
Only knows is that this is, you know, a sore groin.
We could have some injury prone guardsman.
I'm trying to tell you we have some injury prone point guards.
I don't know what it is.
I don't know what it is at all, but anyway, let's go ahead and get the city for real city.
I want to hear you know I want to hear your ****** wrench. May.
Um, you can hear me, so Yeah, I can hear you.
I look at it pretty much I look at it like this, man.
Like we got to take a page.
We gotta I don't I'm gonna twist to things together.
We gotta take a page under the Yankees, look and say, you know what? Next man up like, you know what I mean? It doesn't matter who's injured or, um Oh, ho.
We got out on the court like, you know, saying that if you're injured, you can't play whatever, whatever.
We got a deep team now, right? That's what we was looking for last year.
And we got that now.
So you know what? Next? Man up, there's no excuses.
Like, you know what I'm saying? We not We're not gonna play the at least I'm not going to.
I'm not gonna play the blame game and plan everything all phase, But I just want to say if people are hurt next man up, like, you know what I'm saying? Like, we've been talking about our team and saying a bro, we deep and but that being said, if we're deep, then next man up and we should be good to go, it shouldn't matter who we got on the court.
If where, holding our team Thio, you know, to the deepness or what we say that they are? No, definitely.
I definitely agree with you.
The one thing is, you know what our point guards we get.
We've got three of whom and all three of them have been injury prone.
You know what, Frank? Neil Aquino, You know, this groin has been an issue.
It seems to always being issue.
Obviously, Smith Jr has an issue with his back.
You know, if one of these guys is going to be franchise point guard or the point guard of the future, how much are we going to be able to rely on them? If they're constantly You know that, sir.
Now they're young, You know what I mean? When you're young, your body heals a lot quicker and you have a chance, you know, for it's a hell.
And then you learn how to deal with it.
Right? Because you're younger.
Your body can heal quick, but you're learning.
You're gaining experience on how to deal with your injuries and how to play through your injuries.
How to eat, right? Exercise right in all those things A you know, so that those injuries don't impact your game play, but it's one of these guys is going to be our future point guard.
No, could be a concern that they're constantly injured.
This is what I was saying about, like what the whole day is shaping about having the doc spasms and I had commonly our money.
Your poster with what I was saying was this.
It is like I'm not worried about it, but I am worried about it because it's a back injury if we all remember how Dwight Howard's and I'm not trying to relate both of those injuries, as in tow one.
But what I'm saying is the back injuries they can.
How do you say like they can? They can stick with you all season, like, you know what I mean.
And I don't want that to be I don't want I don't want the back injury to be a tender on his record when we like.
When we get him into, like, you know, like the full season or whatever.
Like I don't I don't want that to play a part in how he's gonna perform.
But I do know and like we all know what we've all seen is that the back injuries, bro.
They linger all season, like, you know what I mean.
And hopefully for him, it's not one of those.
Um, it's not one of those back injuries that's gonna linger all season.
Yeah, I mean, back injuries.
Sometimes they can linger the water career, you know? Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Like, you know what I mean? Like and And like I said it like everybody else, and they said, Oh, you know, it's not we not, um yeah.
But at the end of the day, it is serious, because we gotta look at it for what it is, and it's a back injury.
Yeah, well, there's something I need to linger throughout the whole season.
What a good thing is that, uh, Dennis Smith Jr will be back, you know? I mean, and hopefully he you know, he's ready to go with.
This isn't This is something that lingers throughout the season.
You know me. So we'll get a chance.
Two, see Dennis Smith, Julia Wednesday versus Trade Young.
I'll be looking forward to that match up.
You know what I mean? All you have now, Speaking of Dennis Smith Jr and Frank Miller Aquino, both of these guys are on their rookie contracts, right? Both of them are on their rookie contracts.
And let's take a look at I'm quickly take a look at how much these guys are making on your rookie contracts right now.
I mean, we've looked at it before, but I'm just not exactly sure.
Yeah, so right now, Frank right now.
Frank Miller Keen.
His contract is 4.
That's what he makes this season.
Julia makes 4.4 million.
That's what those guys make this season.
Now there is a teen option, but both of these players going into next season all right if the Knicks pick up the team option.
Frankly, L ickiness team option is 6.
Dennis Smith Jr is 5.
All right, so you know they'd have to pick up the option for this year and then next year 2020 one.
I'm sorry and then two in 2021.
2022 is a qualifying offer for both players.
All right, so both of these guys in the same boat, which does make for a very sticky situation, right? Both of these guys are on the same boat.
As far as their contracts are concerned.
They make similar money as well, but both playing for point guard positions on this team.
Now, Frank Nilekani can move between a few different positions.
Why? So that does ease the confusion or awkwardness a little bit.
But the boat battling for positions and they both have contract options coming into this season, right? The question is, are the next going to pick up those options? And if they do, they've got to do it within the next two weeks.
They've got to do it by October 31st.
What do you guys think? What's gonna happen? I'm gonna pick up both options.
Well, they pick up one option and not the other.
I mean, by the time we get to October 31st those guys would have played, what, three or four games into the season.
So they're not gonna get that much of a look.
I mean, they have They've gotten a chance to look at Frank Millikin, and for the last two years, they got a chance to look at Dennis Smith Jr last season.
But both of these guys have issues on the young guys, so that's it's okay.
They're supposed to have issues that they've gotta work through.
Frankly, Latina could play defense, but he can't score right? Dennis made Junior.
He can't play defense.
But sometimes it doesn't look like you choose to play defense on at certain times.
At least last year, we'll see what he does this year.
Neither one of the guys can shoot from the perimeter.
Supposedly, Dennis Smith Jr hasn't improved jump shot will get a chance to see it Wednesday.
Hopefully, And then, of course, people question whether or not Dennis Smith Jr could be a facilitator.
All right, so both of these guys have question marks as they should at 21 years old.
I think as they should.
I don't think anyone believe that these guys or expect these guys to be finished products at 21 years old.
But what's gonna happen? All we gonna are the Knicks going to pick up both options? All right, so I want to hear from you guys and chat.
A few other guys joined us.
We got a Jew TV.
We got Guillermo.
I want to know what you guys state may not.
Nick's going to pick up the options on Dennis Smith Jr and Frank Miller.
Kina Gamble will come to you if you could do me a favor.
If you could raise, you know, fix your camera just a little bit. So there you go.
I go ahead, man.
What do you think, Gamma? About that? About? There's Jamie and your situation now about Frank and Dee S J in their contract options.
And could you turn that down in the back some, please? Oh, yeah.
My back's game of Yahtzee.
I don't want to get a copyright infringement cause about the game sound.
Look, with these guys meant it is what it is.
I think with with Frankie, he got he asks a show, he's gonna have to show a lot of development.
Um, because, look, you have a guy now for paying where you can have over pay in play.
So years as your your base point guard.
Um, because he has the highest floor, you know, saying with these Jae****e gotta show some type of some of that said way over our very talented in different ways.
Oh, build the office with guys essential, wasted talent that gets the most item that allows them on the perfect path.
Not perfect, but the right type of development.
Right? But, you know when you're looking at it, I would probably say out of the two if you were to extend one of the two just from what we're seeing right now, obviously be Frankie just cause he offers a lot more.
Um, you know, he could play the two.
Guardian is not a good shooting yet.
Um, he can put his defense can be stifling.
And you can't really, You know, you just in the value defense.
D S. J. Is a guy who needs a ball in his hands.
Not a great shooter.
He doesn't understand the point guard position at that high level yet it's not.
It's not cerebral from like, so some of the point guards have.
You seem like, you know, the 100 millions of the Chris Paul's, you know? So he says the way to go development.
But what else can he do when the balls like saying Well is gonna do versus Frankie? You know you better.
Frank is having a terrible shooting night.
Or Frankie's not being aggressive.
Get a six possible eyes, glassy.
He could shut down, you know, a premier backcourt player, right? So right now, you know, you would say, you give it Frankie.
I think he's getting feelers, you know, in terms of other team problem being interested in him.
That's why last year, end of Lashes agent was kind of whole home one, you know, truly committed the Knicks or to the Knicks.
Think it's probably expecting a supply trading or something.
But you know, it is what it is.
We got to see a lot of development from these guys.
It's interesting how fizzles gonna get a developed because they both kind of play the park opposition in two different ways.
But we both want them to develop shooting.
Um, and I guess shooting is the thing that combines them, too, so really to be seen.
But get out of the two guys are probably Frankie.
Just cause this guy, that kid is 67 What it really is now.
Hey, could play defense, you know, even if he's not doing anything else.
But so why would they pick up both options? Lonely could.
I just thought it was that that was the idea that they won't pick up either option.
But again, you know, when you look it if you like.
I said, when you look at Alfred P.
And L for pain and give you the highest floor right and all for being is no still relatively young on and you can you could have overpaying and still kind of keep your head above ST Nick's aren't winning 40 some games.
You know you could probably even in the first round.
Maybe you get the point guard who gives you a higher floor, but it's still a solid floor about higher ceiling.
That is more Maura of a natural point guard to say, Frank in D. J.
You know, I mean, I don't want all your eggs in one basket.
Get the Knicks have flexibility, so they could easily, uh, I think e both options.
But again, you know you don't with this next team, especially from guys from last year.
I think you wanted.
I want to say is like, do or die.
But you want to give them the idea that you know, if you don't elevate your play, Hey, we're going to give you more options to show yourself to show your talent.
But if you don't elevate your play, you know we'll move on from you.
And I think that, you know, give the idea a way.
We just pick up of options.
This guy Now it's another development year for both guys, and it's I aren't when these guys gonna truly show come back from lunch Wednesday.
But But what if they do pick up the both options? Uh, it gives them another.
It gives him another trade ship for next year.
You only get that yoli.
They will become Bible trade ships if they actually developed especially Dear J.
Right, because he is J.
As much as I like his natural talent, you know, right now he's just so you know, people could.
The team's harsh scouts could say he's just a glorified dunker, right? I mean, you know, you've got, like, Frank again.
Yes, you can have this trade ships, but you know, a guy like Frank I think he needs his confidence.
We build up and we've seen it where he gets it.
He gets a file trouble on things, getting his head when things around him are working.
Right? We saw last year and he got hurt.
So again, Yeah, that like Popovich, my, you know, again, even if Frank is not developing and what you gonna trade it for? What? A measly not saying he's a low second round.
I'm not saying that's not viable.
What? I mean, Well, what about you have to show production.
Yeah, but I mean, of course, they've gotta show production.
And I think both players, at this point in their career and even going into next season, right, cause if the Knicks pick up both both options, then the Knicks have to give it a qualifying all for the following season.
All right, they don't have to, but they you know, they could give a qualifying over the following season, and if they give the qualifying offer, the players accept it, then they accept the qualifying offer.
Then, after that season, they'll be unrestricted free agents if they If the Knicks give the qualifying offer and they do not accept it.
Then they go into a restricted free agency, right? That's it.
In 2122 this summer of 2021 right? So if the Knicks pick them up this season, they pick up the options this season and not saying that.
You're picking up the option just so that you can trade them.
That's not what I'm saying, but there's gonna be teams out there that look at both of these guys and say, You know what? Now they could come here without whatever pressure that may have been on them, and we can work with him from that standpoint, because every time when a player goes to another team right, the expectations are become a little bit different based on the fact you know what, We didn't draft you.
You know what I'm saying? You know, you know, we didn't pick you eighth in the first round or 19 the first round of whatever it is.
So those expect taste has become a little bit different and the player can maybe develop in a different way.
If that situation happens, let's see.
Now we've heard that Detroit that may have some interest in Frank Miller. Akina.
You know, mean and no, I mean, that could just be something that's thrown out there, who knows? But it's possible, I guess, that they have interesting, frankly, Latina, although they also have a glow that their guard spots in this small forward spots.
And they're shooting guard spots, you know? I mean, I don't think that the Knicks right now are in the market to trade anyone.
I think at the moment they're just looking to see what they have.
It's crazy because we said the same thing last year.
They're looking to see what they have, but I think we're in the same exact situation.
They're looking to see what they have who developed and it have some more guys that are going to stick going forward.
The Knicks are in a situation where just about every year until they have some bona fide stars here and I'm not talking like that, Kevin Durant's and guys like that, just some bona fide guys that you know, we're gonna get you in the playoffs every single season and that you can grow with and then start to add pieces on top right when you have guys that.
You know, we're here that give you those building blocks every season is gonna be finding guys that stick finding more guys, that stick.
That's you know, that's how it has to go until you have a team of your team of 15 players that, you know, boom.
This is the squad we got.
Now we could really rock with them, and we make tweaks and changes going forward.
So you know, here we are again with these guys.
Man, this is gonna be interesting.
The next two weeks will be very interested in next two weeks to see the way that the Knicks move forward.
I suspect that they're gonna pick up both of the options.
That's what I think.
I Andrew, What do you think, man? And your TV yourself, bro? You know what was going on? Much of different ways.
What do you think about these guys? Are pros, man Womb? It depends of home and one of the A J is healthy and into the next life.
Frankly, Kenya has value because Alfred pay in Nome.
If he shows out this year and I don't I don't know if the Knicks is gonna keep frame.
You know, the last Frank plays extraordinary extremely well, nothing.
Dia's J He brings in a sighting fact because, you know, people like flash and Flee and I could've That's most Knicks fans like and home.
And Frank is a tad bit more expensive, you know? Look, if they pick up his option, So I you know, I wouldn't be surprised if they would just let her walk, and they've retained, um, every chain elephant pain, but me personally, I'll pick a boatman because they could play together.
I mean, they Frank and knock down the three point shots, and it doesn't.
Frank could play with anybody.
If that's the case, because you could play off the ball is another facilitated ensues.
I don't have a problem with both of them playing together. Yeah.
So let me ask you this.
I Me personally, I don't see what the benefit would be of not picking them up because we're not going to be players in 2020 free agency, right? I mean, I mean, well, we can't be players if we want to, but there's nothing there that we want.
There's nothing there.
Force is there a point guard in the 2023 8 to see that we really want Not really, but own the thing about it on the gold backs.
Ah, alive that you had previously mutual My demo book on Bradley Bill Lab with Nixon found some way to get both ago.
They made some trays and it and it got rid of the draft picks and either one or both of them to the team they had you either, Frank, Tell Aquinas contract with Dia's Jane.
That's your right.
But that's what I mean.
You gotta have those contracts, though.
So if you don't pick those contracts up for next season, then But at the end of this season, those guys will be unrestricted free agents, right? So if something happened, you know, then once you get to the summer, you don't have those contracts that you could treat, You know, if that was the case, if if something like that came available, you don't have those contracts that you could treat now and unless it unless it happened at the deadline this season, you know, to me, So I think that they would pick up both of those options and then, as do move forward if something happened and you needed to move one of these guys.
Now you have those contracts that you could move because even if you trade them in the summer of 2020 they're still on an expiring contract for the final.
You know what I'm saying? Because it's a qualifying cost.
Or so you know, I would think that they're gonna pick up both of those contracts.
That's what that's what I think.
I think I'm gonna pick up.
No, I want to put this out.
You know, be I don't know how this will work, but imagine if the next guy Bradley, Bill and Devin Booker at the same time we had them on our team, what would you think about they played together? Do you think that will work if we played together? Bradley, Bill and Devin Booker.
I have a similar side, like a Damian Lillard.
CJ McCollum, Kind of back or we don't think I'll be caught in the nets.
I mean, it could it could be, I don't know, a it could.
It could be thinking about, you know, saying I mean, you gotta you gotta have the money and the guy that you gotta have the space And of course, the players and the chips to to make a move for those guys.
We have those things You never know.
We could do something, and then you're banking on your banking on.
Those are too expensive, guys, cause Bradley Bill, obviously, You know, I like Bradley. Bill.
Right, Bradley, Bill is going to be $30 million when his contract is up.
Right, You're gonna have $30 million.
So now you're banking on one of these two guys becoming ah, super duper star because you use nor your money, you know, saying you'd be using all your money.
So now you're banking on one of these guys becoming the guy that could carry you to the Promised land.
You know me. Yeah.
So you know, we're gonna see how that goes, man.
We're gonna see how it goes.
I'm expecting the next to pick up their options, though.
That's the thing.
I'm gonna come to you, and then we're gonna move on.
We're gonna talk about face Dale in his lineups a little bit.
Savvy was out semi doing? I'm I'm good romance.
Could the is good to be here is going to be in the chat, chat and chat set out to you, my brother.
So tell me what you think, man.
What's up? I am picking up both for the contracts or what I think they got to.
You know what I mean? This business isn't done yet and not with I a little.
I don't want to see either of them go.
You know, if I had the Jews, I would have a lot of trouble, you know, because I would instinctively want to choose Frank.
But I do want to see the potential of Dennis Smith.
Julian, You know, I I do have an actual question.
I want a pose like an overall.
I just question it does need to be answered right now about these two players, right? About Frank.
What do you What do you think he would be if we ever been Phil Jackson, President, New York Knicks did not draft him.
Okay, You know what? This Is that this? All right, that's a good question.
Okay, so I have another one, but let me let me answer that.
Let me answer that, because this is actually a funny situation.
I kind of think that Frank Miller Kina may still be on the team.
It. Phil Jackson didn't draft him.
You know what I think? So you know what? Because Dallas probably would have drafted him, right, and then the next wouldn't trade it.
Tim Hardaway Jr and Kristaps Porzingis and Courtney Lee to Dallas and Dennis and, frankly, Latina probably would have been included in the tree.
If things though I think that may have happened, then it's nimble doing You're frightening Takina probably when it still ended up on the Knicks.
So I feel like no matter which one we drafted, they would have both ended up on the Net.
I don't know about that because I felt like the thing.
The traits that guy Dennis Smith doing you drafted by Dallas weren't necessarily attract frank to Dallas or the fact that it's too frank.
Rather, I don't know what I mean.
Well, you know Dallas, Of course, they said that they did it on purpose so that the Knicks would drive frankly looking and they could get Dennis Smith Jr.
Obviously it was a lie because they trade him, right? Well, they you know, Mark Cuban went to visit frightening.
Lucchino took pictures of them in wherever they were with, frankly, Latina.
They wanted, frankly looking.
And, you know, that's what was said in all this kind of stuff.
You know what I'm saying? I actually think that's what would have happened.
I think that would have drafted, frankly, Latina and that trade would have went down.
Now there's a chance, though, that they would have liked frankly, Latina right, because he's not a guy that would need to have the ball.
He would have been happy to give it up.
Hey, wouldn't have had as much of a chip on the shoulder over not getting drafted by us, right? But I think that the Knicks would have demanded, frankly, Latina at that point because they would have wanted another guard, Dennis Smith.
Junior would have been her.
All right, went through, you know, went through a couple of revolutions of being her stuff like that, and I think that would have said we want, frankly, Lykina.
That's just what I believe.
And frankly, Lucchino would've ended up.
I think they both would have ended up on the team anyway.
That's just what I think.
All right, So So.
Side question in that case, right? Do you think Frank Nall Aquinas development would be better or worse had he begun with Dallas? Well, I think that Frank Miller kina would be the same player.
Honestly, just my opinion.
I think he'd be the same player, but they'd be much less screw any because he'd fit in with what they do.
And he wouldn't be in massive square garden.
He wouldn't be in the garden, right, Eh? But he'd fit in with what they do.
Uh, because they need, You know, you got Luca.
Now you don't really need a point guard.
There's gonna be a lightning score.
You need a point guard is going to get them guys the ball.
And that's my point.
And when I heard about his injury history, like like a month ago or so, like before training camp started, you know, I was just look, going back and looking with news about him.
I didn't know he was getting beat up like that.
And you know what I mean? Really.
Didn't, like visually appeared to me like that was happening.
I knew he was slight.
Who was beat up? Frank? Frank? Yeah.
Like like I don't know.
I mean, you're coming into the league is really skinny.
Do now, You know, he started pickups and wait and broke up a little bit, but small do still have the body.
So now I look at it and I am, I wonder, and I wanted this about Dennis Smith.
Also, I'm like, Are you just not understanding how they use your body? Right? And you're hurting yourself, Or is your body just sensitive? Do you have this weak points That going to be continuous problems over time? Yeah.
Like like how much can healing and rehabilitation and changing how you move? How much can I lead? Thio? Some sort of, ah, sustained a wellness cause these these continuous injuries were very like you can't build any more mental.
Yeah, Was that have very true And, you know, I think I feel like with Dennis Smith, Jr.
I feel like with Dennis Smith Jr is Obviously you guys know you know.
It is the power in this speed that he puts on his body.
I mean, you see how he can explode off the floor? I mean, is you're back meant to be able to.
We've staying that type of explosion.
And if, you know, maybe he needs to strengthen the muscles in his back.
We'll see what you know.
We're gonna see how that goes on what I want you guys to do.
I know you guys aren't gonna be able to hear this, but I want if you guys can log into the ah, the YouTube video and listen, I'm gonna play David the rest of David Fizdale interview, right? And he's gonna talk about some lineups and, you know, you know his plans for developing lineups for the remainder off pretty season and maybe even going into the regular season Sounds familiar.
Like last season.
This is David Fizdale.
Ladies and gentlemen, let's take a listen.
Practice, practice, get better.
Anything going? No, not yet.
Really? Evaluate everyone.
I played around with a couple of hypotheticals.
I still want to go through the games.
That way with me.
I'm still my still burns a little bit of trouble today.
All of these guys Have you ever play your position with season starts? I'm gonna keep that compensation high on guys not carrying his weight.
Things here because I just felt like last year was way we're trying to figure out, you know, who was gonna be able to stay with based on what type of situation.
We're trying to develop all of them certain extent, but at the same time, development plan back here with us.
That's our league, you know? And they wanted to be back.
I stay in touch with those guys.
I'm really happy.
That makes me feel good to see that they all ended up getting tracks noted.
I heard I just worked out that it was the other guys.
Are you guys? Do you think? Oh, yeah, And that's the way we had another long film special.
A lot of running.
They knew that you didn't get organized worth a crap about our did.
Nothing with purpose when you're not talking Scott's property first.
Ah, probably way more.
A little more on the guns from that stuff with practices are absolutely critical.
Battles with Wade.
I think the game tells you something you don't know who's gonna be rolling that night or getting it done defensively or whatever.
It may be out different things.
I just want to be nice to have it to where I could trust you.
A lot of guys in the booth, I think it's gonna go right.
Obviously, we gotta play good basketball.
We understand our roles.
Gotta understand how to help him with the way that he approaches the game.
I think you have a chance.
Do you feel like way with you? I love the fact that he's 19.
He's already doing that grown ups that says a lot constantly.
Just keep developing him, understand how to use that to you.
But I really like the fact that he's already Yeah, yeah, Building was a friend of ours with our guy way.
Try to try to stay close communication on of these agents.
It's a really good relationship.
Try to make sure that they understand there's open policy, but yeah, Bills.
And I'm gonna build a long, long time.
College guys were just talking about USDA and one of those kids possibly school e.
I don't even know.
He was gonna be here today You know, the president gets all overruling power, so, you know, But it was good to see him.
I was I was happy to see you when I was out of work.
We spent a few days with just He's one of those people have.
All right, ladies and gentlemen, that was David Fizdale.
Ah, and I want to know a savvy and we'll start with you.
Since you're already here, I want to know what you think about the line ups again.
Tell me what you think, man.
Give me give me one second.
Give me one second.
Give me one second and I'm gonna get to you Just one second. All right.
Um, all right, So tell me what you think, man. About those lineups.
I have a little bit of a delay on my end, so I'm still watching the video.
But but you should have gotten to the part where he said that he was gonna sweet lineup is going into the season I like.
I'm actually really delighted that we're talking about the subject, but I love this idea.
I don't like how permanent and set in stone things congee it when you have players out there because I don't It's not that I don't feel like players deserve to have a consistent spot.
It's just that it would be nice to be adjustable to what you're facing out there.
You know, at the moment, Snow this and that comes down to coaching, of course.
But when you can have the expectation set lineups to change well into the season, Sorry.
Pardon me and then that it sets a good tone because I want players to get used to Not only, you know, playing at different parts of the game with different needs off them, but I want them to get used to defending different positions because they're switching spots on the floor and the London have a play, you know, to increase different spots on the floor.
Because I'm gonna play the two right now.
Lets you play the one you know.
You know, this guy could could clear the three.
And the report he's going to stretch.
We're gonna bring in this guy.
We're gonna have this other guy dropped down and play this this position, like just being able to adjust in that way and put different sets out there.
So without without, you know, you impeding anybody.
Yeah, I definitely get that.
Um, my only question is, does it sound a lot like last year? Because that's what happened last year, you know, played out four or five preseason games.
And then, of course, we're still tweaking lineups and threw it into the season, and it never stopped.
Obviously, the the Knicks were terrible.
I don't want that to happen this year.
I need him to settle on something quicker or sooner than later.
I do understand it, right? Because you got seven or eight new players.
You're not sure how these guys are gonna respond when the pressure really hates.
So you're gonna have to look and see what these guys doing game in game situations and how they react to each other, how they respond to each other.
What kind of attitude? You're gonna get all of that kind of stuff.
You gotta figure that out so I don't get it the first few games of the season.
You're gonna be checking that out.
You're going to start to make some real lineup tweaks and hopefully you settling on something? I don't want to see this going on all season long, man.
Where were you trying to figure out? Obviously, there's gonna be tweaks to the lineups.
There's always gonna be tweaks to the lineups because somebody's gonna get hurt.
Someone's just not gonna be playing well off those type of things.
We're gonna have the one that gets the February and still be seeing it.
Yeah, I don't want to get the February and we're still like, Who's the starting point guard? Exactly.
Now, let me ask you this, though.
Okay? Let me ask you this way, based on what we've seen already from this preseason, right? We haven't seen that much.
But let's just say we're going based off of that right Alfa and pay in.
Husbands playing Frank had been playing.
Then the smoke is not okay.
All right, let's move. This injured Frank is injured.
Payne is healthy.
We might have liked some of what we've seen competing.
We might have not like the rest of what we saw, but yeah, I mean, I like some of what I see it.
I didn't like the old for nine from the field, you know? I mean, he hasn't exactly been a guy that's gonna be scoring from that point guard position.
Which is the reason why Dennis Smith Jr is still in that conversation.
If Albert pay in these two preseason games had been scoring the ball as well, and I'm not saying scoring 15 7th 17 points a game, if he have, it's going 10 11 12.
It would be no noticed us now.
It may not even be a discussion, but he scored five and he scored zero, I believe.
So, yeah, I was disappointed, you know? So, no, that keeps Dennis Smith Jr right there in that conversation.
You know, I'm also I'm also kind of matter, Randall, But But we could say that later today we'll get to that.
We're gonna talk about Randall.
Let me get to some of these other guys.
Let me get to a phone call.
Then I get to some of these other guys in the chat.
I talk about these lineups.
Call it your love with nothing but necks was popping.
What's going on with your brother? How you feeling? Good night, sir, but may the Lord is for quickly.
We say this is clear.
Yeah, this is Creole.
Believe man from home now.
Um, listening to the conversation.
I'm just thinking about Frank.
Millie Kina as over 2019 version of Landry Field.
You know, like a guy that's very good on the defensive end, but not much often, but when you get free agency, every let landry fields walk, you know, he got a big contract.
I believe it was by the Toronto Raptors, you know? But when when we were talking about the line off, I'm not sure.
From what I see, I'm not sure Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson can play together at the same time on the floor.
What I would like to ask you guys, Do you feel Randall can start a center on there and then have Mitchell Robinson come off the bench? And then those guys rooted at the center position and then have somebody like E Kevin knocks plea a stretch four way he can shoot three pointers.
We're trying to look to see where we can get more stuff for scoring up opportunities.
Then I like the what? The suggestion you guys are making with having alone that you're Plato one.
He pleaded the two off course Morris is gonna play three and 1/2 knocked out before, and then Randall and Mitchell, you know, playing the the the five position.
But I wouldn't mean that at some point, you're gonna have to treat Bobby 40 and change some of these other big, so to try and bringing more shooting, you know, I just don't feel that that Julius Randle From what I saw, he seems like he's somebody.
I want Supplee inside the paint on Dhe.
Try to get his offense off from inside the pain, and you can have him in the bean along with Mr Robinson, especially with this kind of game we're trying to, you know, stretch the BR floor on trying to shoot a three point shot, you know, on a big upto My guy right there, that big on the screen, he looks like a lot like to wreak from from power, man like me.
Ah, a lot High up on.
And I'll listen to you guys.
I appreciate the call, man.
Parasitical first I do understand is that we were just saying Cleo about They're not being a lot of shooting on the floor, especially in that first line up, right, because there's not a lot of shooting, you know, when you have Alfred pay in R.
Barrett is not a lot of shooting, and then you also have Mitchell Robinson.
You know, you have one guy that can really efficiently shoot the ball from the three point line, and that's Marcus Morris.
And then Julius Randle can sometimes shoot the ball from the three point line, but we want to spread the floor.
Four. Julius Randle.
You know what I'm saying? Right? We want to spread the floor so that Julius Randle can get his buckets in the paint, so I definitely get what you're saying.
I'm just not sure that Julius Randle one is gonna would be big enough to play center full time.
And it's not a good enough.
Defended to play center full time.
Of course, Mitchell Robertson is a shot blocker.
That's why he's out there, because he can, you know, defend the rim.
Obviously, with Mitchell Robinson, you know he's got some work to do offensively.
He's got some work to do as we've seen in the last preseason game to keep himself on the floor.
So he's not family now, every game.
But there is an issue with shooting in that first line up.
There's just not enough shooting at all at all.
Especially to get Julius Randle open so that he's you know, he's open on the block so he can score from the block so he can penetrate to the basket because he's powerful going to the basket and you can see if you go back and you look at these preseason games, there's two and three people around Julius Randle because this is not enough shooting on the perimeter with that starting lineup.
You know he gets the ball in the post.
He's trying to go to the right.
You got three guys converge, you know me, so there is definitely an issue there.
I'm not sure that I see Julius Randle playing the five, though I think what would happen if you're really that concerned about shooting from that five spot, then maybe it ends up being Bobby Portis that he plays with because Bobby Portis can shoot.
I'm not saying that Bobby Portis is going to start.
I don't want to get the chat into an uproar, you know, I'm saying, But when you talk about being able to spread the floor for Julius Randle, Bobby Portis can do that.
He's 6 11 He's not gonna block shots.
But if you talk about offensive stuff, he can help spread the floor So that Julius Randle cause he shoots 39% from three, he can help spread the floor so that Julius Randle gonna have more space.
But look, that's why David Fizdale said that he's still looking at tweaking those lineups he's still looking at.
You know he doesn't have anything written in stone, and I would hope that coming into this Atlanta game, we see something different from their starting lineup because I'm just not sure it's gonna work, because I don't know that this is not a lot of shooting, not a lot of shooting.
You've seen the over the 1st 2 preseason games.
We've shot the last species again.
What? It was 39%.
Now, the first preseason game, 40%.
Obviously, it's not all just the first unit, you know me.
But if that first unit could have a little bit more shooting a little bit more diversity in the way that you can play offensively.
By adding some more shooting into that line up, however you choose to do it, then maybe you can, you know you can balance the lineups a little bit more, you know? And you know, you talked about the video I put out about Alonzo.
Trader and Tony Crow actually brought that up to me.
Being in the starting lineup with our J.
Barrett and the idea behind out I was thinking when we were having the discussion is that a lot of the trail would actually be able to play off the ball so that he could penetrate to the basket and do what he does offensively.
Barry could be a little bit more of, ah, facilitator because he does have that skill.
Berry can almost do whatever you ask him to do on the floor.
The question is, and it's something that you might look at in preseason to see how it looks.
The question would be could argue better.
Actually, man that point guard spot or facilitators spot right now.
Is he ready to do that? right now, that would be the question, you know? I mean, we wouldn't have the answer unless we put him out there. Let him do it.
I don't expect this Dale, too.
Go with that kind of a lineup.
That was just something that we were thinking about talking about, Ah, suggestion, but something to look at because he did do it in at the end of the last preseason game.
You know, there was a stretch for about four or five minutes where R J better.
It was playing that point guard spot, and Alonzo chair was playing off the ball.
So I suspect that we would see that line up a little bit more.
You know them and may not be a starting lineup, but I think we would see that line up a little bit more.
But I don't know.
I don't think that Julius Randle you complain that center full time when you're doing a small ball line up.
I think you can't that lineup that you say Julius Randle.
Kevin knocks Marcus Morris.
Lots of sugar are you? Bear it something like that.
I think you could do that.
If you play small ball, I don't know if you could do it full time.
You mean I don't know? I don't know.
Ah bmo Coming to you, man.
Fizdale is going to continue to tweak those lineups going into the season.
How long would you expect him to do it for? He has to do them to find the right line up.
I mean, it's not a thing of do we give this guy time on, You know, I mean, like, it's one thing if isa had a lineup that got him, like, you know, 5 10 games, about 500 changed it up like you did last year, not say, get that last year.
But, you know, he would do things where he took a boy Dotson out after he was acting like 15 5 He's doing stupid stuff like that, just a tank.
But, you know, until we find the right line up, then you keep tweaking it to see what works.
I mean, I think that alive that's weak.
And look, we have a starting lineup that gets your base floor. It gets you.
I know what I give this line up.
You know, I think then you start tweaking who's your second unit and obviously who your films after that.
But, you know, keep tweaking until you get the lineup.
That works because there's so many guys here that on one of one type of contract, so short term contracts, you know, I mean, so it's not, You know, you have to find who you're gonna invest in future years you want to try to bring back.
You want to try to cultivate who you want to develop, we want to trade off, you know, by the train, that line on me.
So it's not a thing of, you know, stop taking a line of fine, try to find consistency, But one mind just does not work.
I mean, obviously obvious.
I mean, at some point, you're gonna be tweaking lineups throughout the season, but at some point, you gotta settle in on something that is kind of your baseline.
You know, I'm saying and then you know you're gonna do little tweaks to what? The season.
But you gotta settle in on something and not just agree.
How would you tweak the starting line up the way it is now Because there's no shooting in that starting lineup.
So Starla now is what is Peyton P R J Bear Indoors and Morris Morris? Well, Morris is actually I mean, most probably shoot above his average one person at that shooting that's spreading the floor.
And that starts, right? So he's not the go to guy.
Ah, in terms of scoring, right.
So one way I wait a little bit more shooting, Um, I would, because you can't take You don't want to take Mitch out because you need a defense is in the front court.
I would say, Oh, uh, I would say for right now, because you still don't develop.
I think once more sleep is gonna get a lot more playing time.
If you wanted to tweak it to get more shooting, you know, you put you replace R.
J with Ellington and you have opinion Ellington, Morris, Randall and, uh, and Mitch and you bring in RG for heavy minutes after 30 minutes off the bench. Whatever.
And then, once more Morris gets treated with which I'm expecting to happen, then R J could come in and start because right now our Jay is a field type of guy, right? He's a guy that you know the second game.
He got hot in the beginning and kind of fade away.
Then in this in the first game, he was a little cold.
They got hot as the game went on.
So he's the type of guy who goes to the rhythm of the game as he starts to get it.
There's no need to kind of Russia development.
Right? Um I think he has a confidence, I think, you know. Yes. Perspective.
They probably Morris part of Tosa, like, Hey, I'm probably gonna be here.
You gotta take you.
You gotta carry the hardest team.
Um, so yeah, I don't mind.
I don't mind Atlantica if you need shooting out of my own team coming in.
So I mean, so you said then later on in the season if Elfrid Payton got traded.
What you expect? No. Morris. Morris.
I said Marcus Morris.
I thought you said l've a pain.
We'll see how it tweaks it.
We'll see how it tweaks it, man.
I'm looking over to see Wednesday's, well, swaths of the shooter.
What's all that? The shooter Soon? Because dots is not back yet.
Both is not back.
It obviously I would put those two in before Ellen because they offer a little bit more from two positions.
And you know what you're getting right.
They kind of play relatively the most disciplined on the team in terms of known where to go, what the two guys do, coming off screens and blah blah.
Um, but if those guys aren't back, if you know, if right now you have to go with Ellen, right? Are just gonna get his ministers.
No need to rush. Right.
Um I mean, what about I don't know if you've seen the video earlier, and it's not something that I would expect them to do throughout the season.
But what about Tripp is you? I wouldn't mind putting tree.
I got to still see if chair truce trying.
I can't I can't deny in terms of trying to be a complete point guard.
Ah, better a better GardaWorld not point guard.
Um, but again, I mean, he did to that one shot quick off the dribble.
I think it was in the first game.
Um, I don't mind him coming off playing the two position, but again, he still has the ball in his hands.
Doesn't really like, you know, his past support.
She was really moving around much after that.
I don't mind giving me a chance to try to prove that.
Give me that two yard.
But you know, again, he's a guy.
He's a ball in his hands a lot.
He just has to show me that you can shoot a little bit more off ball because Ellen 10 Dotson book.
That's a that's a bread and butter, and that allows a point guard to do a lot more.
Um, you play off the point about a lot better when you don't need The bony hands is a two guard.
There's just rare.
You know, painting can't shoot is not a good shooter screen.
I can shoot the case, not a shooter.
So if you need to have one guy, if you need have got to dominate the bowl, you know, let it be the point guard.
You don't need to guys who are overly down in a ball and now usage with, you know, the effectiveness kind of Wayne's right, unless your point guard is shooting 60% of some stupid like that.
So all right, Well, no trailer.
Last game he played 16 minutes.
He had 14 points.
He was 4% in the field.
He was to perform from three.
And what I will say is he made his moves much quicker because I said, Yeah, he showed the vote.
Hey, wasn't coming up pounding the basketball when he got the ball, he made quick moves.
One tool dribbles to the basket, and then and then he's dead.
You know, you got to give him that.
So maybe, you know, it's something that he's continuing.
Hey, did you get my number? Came from what? Sim? Those numbers came from him coming off the bench.
I'm just saying I'm not trying to get a mean.
I mean what I think.
It just looks like a battery that just if you bring him off the bench, he can give you He could give you that.
Ben Gordon, 20 in like in 15 minutes.
I mean, I'm I'm saying, you know, it came off the bench because Fizdale chose to bring him off the bench, but that's that's true.
I'm not against my country.
Let's see if he II over.
He starts him in this next home game.
Actually, I want I want to see how backcourt does against, uh, Trey Young defensively.
But I'm not against that.
Um, again with visiting right the catch and shoot, You see tribute, more casual shoes.
Hey, took He had that one shot where he did, I think, just caught, like, a passable You shot a relatively quick, but I think with bullet And those guys like when you do that beautiful curl and it could just get the ball and she like, it was Ellington in the first game.
You did a few is I? It's just that natural.
It's the natural is a natural flow of the offense.
You don't let the defense that younger than allow the defense to settle.
That's one thing Trio has to work.
I have to say yes.
He has a quicker trigger in the second game of the priest, but yeah, I got see consistent.
I'm gonna pontificate.
I got Seymour. Matthew. Hope I feel you.
I hope he gets a chance to start.
Ah, you know what? She was gonna happen.
Dennis Smith Jr. His back.
It says to start at that point guard spot Who knows, You know, I mean, who knows? Ah, Andrew, TV.
Get your tape, and then we're gonna move on and Julius Randle, And then I'm gonna come to city.
All right? Right now.
What about we'll talk about lineups, right? And how would you tweak this? How would you tweet this current starting lineup? You know, the the best thing is I mean, the first thing we need is we need shooting just like you.
The first thing we need is shooting just like get on.
Gemma was saying And that what you said starting tria I would definitely do that because the last game you see how quick he came on Definitely start tria because Alfred Pain has had the make humans given us anything.
He actually has known the worst plus minus on a team so far.
Yeah, I definitely start tria and I have to try to see, like, you know what? How is not enough? I think a lot happened last game.
Knox wasn't playing because the first game Knox had a decent game.
I think things out then if he could knock down the three as well that give us after dynamic at home there for the most part. Definitely. Start career.
I definitely agree what you will.
So where would you start treating? So who would be your star lineup if you're inserting Tree, Who's your starting lineup? Well, it depends Woman play trio with If I'm gonna play trio with home, that's on me.
I just look at him as a guard because essentially the next to a lot of life High screen and roll drill handle curl place.
So they're not looking for someone to break down the office with a pick and roll? Well, it depends who he's playing with it.
If you're gonna play in with home like Audrey Babbitt, then next time you stated in the video, you know that can work.
If they're gonna do another trouble, head off.
They're gonna run a pitch balls and things of that nature.
But you need somebody to break down the pick a vote that you're gonna have to play him with.
Home Alfred Pain Not necessarily Frank.
Or, you know, India Jane, when he's healthy, but it depends how they run the offense if they're gonna run it.
Mike set, set, offense and is not pickle.
Every offense you've been starting point guard.
Position is not necessarily a big deal because you're playing from the elbow.
You're playing foam screen, a real action from curls and things of that nature.
So you just on that point, whoever they thought they needed to start the two cops, this necklace shoot the ball, maybe R J maybe a home away on Wayne Ellison and they still have Russian people.
Look, I don't know how you have to play so far.
And then at the three, I was star Kevin Knox and, well, Marcus Morris has to start because I know you said Randall is too small.
It didn't Randall at the four Mitch at the file.
But see, the thing is mentioned essentially no offense at the moment and his game.
That's why they've been good.
If the Knicks were the signs, in my opinion, Mission went out the book Lopez or somebody like that.
So they convicts and manage how they want to play the offense offenses.
Then it he senses center different things, that nature.
But I would start Alonso tria either.
R J barrack greyhounds at tool Oh, Boris Randall and on Mr Officer.
I You know, Speaking of random, you just mentioned Julius Randle in the previous call or just mentioned Julius Randle.
We're gonna listen to Julius Randle because Julius Randle said he wants to make the All Star team initiate as one of his goals.
I said, let's take a listen to Julius Randle.
Ladies and gentlemen, I was one of you.
Give spanned all that.
He said making All Star team was a goal of yours.
Can you expand on that a little bit? I mean, you're focusing.
All right, But it's, you know, why make that a goal of the season? Uh, I just feel like situation opportunity on duh.
Everything I enter on a pass, all the work I put into passes for his office with me now.
So Well, obviously you had an opportunity that I do.
You going back to You said everything you've been through.
You going back to that first game? Any special prayer, right when you're broke a leg? Was that becoming back from that house up with, uh, recovery really wasn't like, honestly, people ask me what's on A recovery really wasn't tough was just to sit now and not being able to play the whole year, but I learned a lot for sure.
Do you feel like you missed, though, actually, obviously, on the court and learning things while your planet If we Yeah, it was different, but, uh, I was lucky enough to get, like, the preseason and a training camp.
Um, so I kind of got some sort of field of, you know, the endgame.
Oh, which was good.
Obviously, they're timeless.
It is important.
But, you know, you just kind of everything gonna go perfectly.
So you just gonna have to work with the situation I tried to make the best out of it was the hardest part.
Getting a strength in my leg.
No, I mean, it was a bone, so it was like, Put a ride in there.
And this is not gonna break loneliness like a bionic legs with its old.
So you're not really worried about the leg? I mean, it's just like you're kind of like anything you sit out for while you kind of got a game.
That muscle memory back muscles gotta get firing again.
Uh, all around, you know, eggs and stuff like that.
And you gotta get your time and a lot of stuff.
Who said that yesterday? They watched some defense.
Today was often you see, after watching that, that's clean up, get a lot better.
You know, it's just more of us being connected and trusting each other.
Which takes home.
Are you kind of looking forward to having like, it wasn't me office? Yeah, something your relative.
I mean, you Rose.
It was You gotta got a I understand everything that comes with it.
Opportunities come with a great book.
No, Molly, I said it moves on.
I gotta make everybody else better.
Oh, washing on teams.
Erlanger loading up for me.
Take away what I do.
So you gotta make everybody else better understand what comes with vision that made you move.
They make a role better passing.
Is that so? I just gotta recognize situations.
Recognizable defense to guard me, uh, be the playmaker.
Rule looks I want to make their body was better home and passing it so my problem myself.
So give my guys open Looks.
I gotta make the right player.
We talk. I mean, if it's not for me.
My God, how important, Is it? Is it Is it really six years? Six years? Six years? How important is that? You haven't been in the playoffs? Yeah, How important it is to get that extremely important.
And we'll talk about it every day.
What is extremely important you work hard for, So talk about it.
Misha, everybody connected.
Oh, you better every day.
I like art scene compared to a lot of time.
So we need to do every day.
You're better mental. Focus, locking.
Do I like you talk about being all stars, things like that? Is that part of it? You think that people don't you the same way? Because teams have it.
You're on team number 60 games.
People say probably.
So you hear from me when they know when he does that? Obviously, it was a situation we're rebuilding from the ground up. And I like that.
I don't want to just walk.
It's us what she knows.
Ready? Made hard, but adversity embrace it.
I mean, this is this is fun.
Is my conference on being uncomfortable? My comfort zone being uncomfortable.
I mean, I definitely like that my comfort zone being uncomfortable.
I like everything that Julius Randle has to say for the most part, you know, saying he says the right things all the time.
Of course, you know Julius Randle's got to Ah, he's got a lot to prove, you know, saying because like like they said, he hasn't been on winning teams.
He hasn't been on a playoff team, so the brothers got a lot to prove.
But what I want to ask you right now is what is your assessment of Julius Randle so far? And I know it's only been two preseason games, but what is your assessment? And what do you think he has to do? What do you think that David Fizdale has to do now? It's almost start off with City.
I want to get your take, City.
You know what is your assessment of Julius Randle right now? So far? With what you see? What is your assessment? Weii.
How long? Someone's What was that? I said, what is your assessment of Julius Randle right now? So far, with everything that you've seen in a place, what is Your assessment s so far I don't wanna I can't even say I want to pump the brakes.
But at the end of the day, I can't say I want to jump on.
Um, I want to jump on the wagon just because, like, well, we've seen him play two games, like, you know, I'm saying and two games Not enough to be like, Yeah, OK, I'm with it like, you know, the man.
We can base things off of what he's done in the past.
But at the end of the day, what have you done for me lately by, you know, Stan and again, it's only been two games, bro, Like, you know, saying like, we can't We can't jump in and say, Yeah, this is the guy that's gonna lead the team because we base in things on what he did in the past.
I get understand? We can say, Oh, yeah, this guy's gonna come in and dominate because guess what? It's been two preseason games.
He hasn't came in dominated, but we can't speak on the future because we don't know where he gonna do so with this scene, tell me what you've seen from these two preseason games.
The last two priests weight.
Unlike, uh, I would say, that's what I like is that he went down low and he asserted his body when I didn't like, was that when he got down low and they pressured him on defense, he was low getting a bull out, like, You know, I'm saying, like there was a couple of plays where I felt like he should have got the ball out faster, but he didn't and he held it and he went ahead and got into his shop again.
You know, I'm saying is basketball Maybe Maybe he didn't see some people open, whatever the case might be.
But at the end of the day, what I didn't like was that I I thought he held the ball for too long on certain plays.
Not all the time.
Just certain place where I felt like he could have got the ball out sooner than what he did.
But I could be wrong.
No say, Well, I agree with you there.
I definitely seen him hold the ball.
I don't want to say hold the ball, but dribble in the traffic, not recognizing he and he spoke on it, right, they wouldn't recognize.
He's got to recognize the double teams, the triple teams, you know and get the ball out so that he can make his teammates better.
Bruno and this could be something that's totally brand new for him, you know? So he's gotta learn how to do that, because he this is the first time that he is the focal point.
Yeah, because he's a guy.
According to us, He's a guy now, like I look at this team and the people that we got, I don't want to see.
There is no guy.
There's a guy any given night like any given Sunday.
Anybody can win any day, anybody could be the top scorer, and that's the way I want to look at our team.
I don't want to focus on one person saying This guy's a guy that's gonna lead us to the playoffs.
No, you know what? We have team.
Everybody's gonna lead us to the playoffs.
If this guy's hurt.
I got said about our Yankees, man.
If this guy's hurt, you know what next? Man up.
Step up and handle your business like you know, I'm saying this got hurt.
He dropped 15 1 night.
Then you know what we call your number? Dropped 23 the next night.
Like, you know what I'm saying, Right? Big up your team.
And like, a cz what I said about the whole eat what you kill.
Keep what you kill.
Forget about all of them.
And if you're gonna be doing that, do that when you're playing against other teams and not against people full alive is in practice.
We told my practice I I didn't like, you know, something called ever gets a phone call.
But I do believe that eventually, you know, a pecking order is going to be established.
That's just gonna happen naturally by the players.
So I do like what you're saying No about, You know, any given night, somebody can pop off, But eventually there's gonna be a pecking order established.
And that's just the app happens naturally.
You know, caller, you're live with nothing but necks.
What's popping? It looks good, man.
It's going back again.
I scored a couple of times.
Well, um I mean, I like how the mix is doing, man.
Like I think it is.
Definitely it was good when they when they when they want and beat the Wizards that first time.
But, you know, I don't let it get me there their own because I think it is a process and the old John together, that type of thing, the one thing I think about it, I mean, kind of the way you was asking the questions before.
It seemed like he was turning a time of own get people to say something about about rango, like to me.
I feel like he definitely was going next.
I got to be said, right, Same, same time.
Like he definitely is supposed to be the biggest score out here.
So he got a take that responsibility and do it.
There was a couple of times where you know where he could have passed off.
But, I mean, I like to see him shoot the one thing I know that I think we gotta look out for that.
I could see him and Morris playing that role.
The lead on this? No.
And I don't think like not, you know, nothing like like, like leave him out like Morris that do he doing all right? Trying to, like, showed up the whole mentality for the, you know, for the players, but also just the fans, you know? So I really see that the two of them kind of know, Like like probably settling that robot its end of the day.
No, they got no, they gotta play itself out.
So I think he's good today that nobody's getting assigned anything.
But it still feels like sometimes that that Randall is being elevated my necessarily by his play, but just by, like, the Arctic City forever.
It's just my way it happened in the past.
And me, I think, you know, like, I don't want to see him and Maura skin.
So, like, I'm healthy competition like that.
I mean, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Get you. Um, let me ask you this.
You know, just looking at what Randy was done so far this preseason night.
Uh, well, before I even get that you know about a health unhealthy competition between the two.
You know, I think naturally between those two, while one there's going to be some There's gonna be some things mixed in that don't necessarily have to do with basketball.
Right? Julius Randle.
I think he knows he's going to be there for two at least two, maybe three years.
It's my opinion that he's not gonna be here next season, right? He's going to get a bigger contract in the off season if he's here in off season and he'll be gone.
That's part of the reason why he chose to take the next $15 million because he knows he's going to be a big market guy next season, So that's going to be mixed in a little bit.
If they're, I don't think there's gonna be a competition between the two.
But then, of course, the players usually decide, you know, the main and naturally, they give the respect to the guy that they look at that the players look at as the leader of the team, you know, me and a I don't think I don't think there's gonna be a competition like that between the two, right, so I think we're gonna be okay there.
I don't know why I just feel like them to respect each other, so I don't think there's going to be that kind of a competition.
But what I do want to ask you is, do you think that over the 1st 2 preseason games, and I know, Fizdale said he was gonna c o R try to use Randall in a point forward situation.
Do you think is doing it too much and is taken away from his ability to produce down low? I never thought about it that way, but I think that now that you mention it, I think probably so.
Probably so because, like, to be honest, I just haven't been.
I haven't really been impressed with him the 1st 2 games, you know, and that's not to say I I don't respect his name like I know he got it, But I just don't feel like he's been really been used correctly.
Hey, because the foot probably like what you said.
That is because because a lot of his stuff is like, you know, who's in the body down low.
So if he's not, he's not in that place.
Then you know, what are we doing way got a 1,000,000 point guard with you? Yeah, because because they've used him over these 1st 2 preseason game, they've used him at that point forward spot.
I think they have the first game he had 11 points.
He was 5 to 12 from the field.
Seven rebounds, seven assists.
Uh, the second game.
I think he had a 55 or four assists.
Let me see if I could pull that up real quick.
Oh, these are Julius Randle Stacks that we're looking at, Ladies and gentlemen, and I'm gonna pull these up real quick if I could find it.
So in the second game, Julius Randle had 14 points.
It was 50% from the field, 33% from three.
Had eight rebounds and four assists.
Right? I mean, listen, those assists a great.
He also had five turnovers.
Those assists of Great.
Ah, no, because you know he is playing someone a perimeter.
He doesn't look to me like he's a natural distributor.
Facilitator Point forward.
Hey, could do it here and there, I think.
And maybe he's Maybe David Fizdale is just tryingto use them as much as he can in the preseason There.
Yes, so he can get the practice.
But then when the regular season comes, you know it'll be done here and there.
You know what I'm saying? You know, I guess I guess we'll have to see, you know how it transpires Going forward.
I feel like in a preseason he's been used there a lot, and maybe it's taken away from his down. Low gain.
God, they going to me.
That's a part of like when we talk about bringing the next back and like that whole physical style in order that, you know, we need him down there banging.
Exactly. We need that. You know, that's part of it.
That's definitely part of it.
Having down there banging, knocking people around for real.
Yeah, all right, man appreciates a call boat.
Are you ready? Make people don't want to go.
I got haven't going.
Yeah, Julius Randle wants to make the All Star team.
That's what he just said in his post practice interview that he, you know, that's one of his goals for this season is to make the All Star team, and David Fizdale said, You know, lots gotta go right.
The team's gonna play well.
Obviously, Julius Randle's got to get used to his new role as being the focal point of the team, so that's something new, something he's got to get used to.
It could be done it can happen.
I'm curious to see how much they're going to use him that point forward if they're gonna force feed that point forward thing, you know, throughout the season, I want to find out from you guys.
Do you think right now it's, You know, they're using their doing it too much to point forward or not.
It doesn't even matter.
That's what I want to know.
Right now, Let me see Emma come to a savvy and I'll come to you.
All right. Coming to you, Savvy.
I want to know from you, man.
Tell me with Julius Randle right now at that point guard using that point forward spot.
Are they doing it too much? Is that, um I wouldn't say it's too much, you know? I mean, considering considering, you know, one point where I feel like you can't get enough trial in their room.
Okay, um, I don't want to see him with the ball.
As much as I want to see Barrett with the ball, I'll say that.
Um uh, I don't I don't want one of force anything with this guy.
You know, I I saw what happened.
Needs toe to just focus more.
You know, I feel like there's nothing that he doesn't have.
Hey, just needs to focus and lock in.
You know, you can, and I And I'm glad that he wants to be an All Star.
I just don't know.
I'm not so sure about what he thinks he needs out of himself in order to make that happen as a compares to what we would need from him, you know? And if those, like, line up very well, but because okay.
And because her, like, didn't the expectations, the expectations of missing line.
Like when we spoke about the whole the whole point.
I mean, um, point point forward thing a little while back, and I would love it if it works.
I don't want it to be a thing where he has to learn how to do this for us.
Well, I mean, yeah, I see.
I feel you there.
I mean, so I mean, he's gonna have to learn it a little bit.
I mean, he could do it.
I get I get what you're saying, right? You want it that just happen. Naturally.
It doesn't have to be force fed.
Um, what what I've seen from Home Day and and I discussed this before.
What I've seen from him is he dribbles into double or triple teams and sometimes it's like he doesn't even see or he just thinks he can force his way through those double and triple teams.
You know, he's gotta recognize, have a you know, take one or two strong dribbles and they kicking.
You take one or two strong dribble so that the defense commits and then you kick it to the open three point shooter, right? He hasn't really recognized it yet.
I'm putting shore.
They said that they went over film, right? They were breaking down film, so they got a chance.
Thio hopefully point that out to him and maybe they worked on it a little bit in practice.
That's one of the big things that I see.
And then, of course, Fizdale has gotta help him out by making sure that he's surrounded by shooters because if he's surrounded by shooters, not as many people are going to be able to double and triple team on him, especially if he's kicking it out.
So you got to make sure that he's surrounded by shooters and he understands that he can see he can identify.
When he kicked that ball out in the kick it out quicker, they've got a knock down, a shop on the perimeter.
If that happens, then it's gonna open him up so that he can score in the polls seeking penetrate to the basket.
He could do those things, you know, saying, you know, So you know, a couple of things have got to happen, okay? And you know what? You're right about that.
We definitely we definitely could use.
There's some some more shooting threats on the perimeter to help space the floor once he does draw the defenders.
But what he does right, right? I just like I'm like, wasn't the plan going in for that? Like like, ah, all right, thinking in this late does, Do you think he wants to do that? Do you think he wants to play that role? Do I think what role? The the point point forward? Well, the one thing he continues to say is that he needs to get players better.
He wants to help get his teammates better.
He wants to help create forced teammate.
So it sounds like Guess he wants to play some of that point forward roll, and it sounds like they've discussed it and had a, ah, real conversation about it.
You mean that this is this is what we want you to do for this team.
We're going to see if it works and if he can actually do it? Yeah, I would love to see him flourish in that in that regard, because I felt like I feel like he's a threat inside and and and then I mean, it's a fail safe system.
Almost get with me as long as you have the right guys around them.
I just like I need them to be like you looking to do that in the moments where there's not that much time to think it, You feel me? Yeah, I feel you are these, or if it's something on the line, I don't want himto have tendency that he's going to fall back into that's going to run counter to some kind of planning that was out there like like as a consensus for for the squad on the floor.
Okay, you're feeling okay, but that is something that would come with time, and he would have to learn that.
So, yeah, that's what I said earlier.
I don't take it back a little bit, you know? But, you know, I wanna wait and see.
All right? I want to hear from Gamow and Ah, Andrew TV Real quick about Julius Randle and what you see so far. God, Andrew.
Well, you got me for I.
I wasn't saying his own that Julius Randle saying he wants to be all star.
My take on it is That means he knows the Knicks have to be in playoff contention, him to make the All Star team.
That's the only way he's gonna make the team.
And it doesn't matter if you put some stats, got to be on a winning team.
I look at that means he's definitely trying to help the disc in contention.
My issue is Julius Randle is he has to kick the ball back out when you get double and triple team which you and I think the dining savvy which I have stated I am.
He's been basically own a point for his whole career.
When he got drafted, you know he contracted as a limb. All Oldham.
Kind of hybrid player.
So he's always been a point for that when he got drafted by the Lakers.
That's what people are gonna like.
This is the style of player.
Typically is gonna be.
So you sit down.
You look at this. Oh, entirely.
And you say OK, how does he still with the Knicks? And don't be one full point for actual in.
Yeah, you should have realized that.
But the thing of you did it bad.
You made a bad choice this all season when we are okay. I know. I understand.
Pay and complain, but we should have put more shooters around him.
Well, I think that's try.
You have? Yes, Jane, when we would Yeah, I think they tried because, you know, they picked up Bobby Portis.
Uh, Wayne Ellington is 37% Reggie Bullock.
They try to sign Reggie Bullock.
What? They did sign Reggie Bullock.
Obviously, he's He's hurt now, and he may not be back for a while.
He shoots 37 or 39% from from three.
You know, and then you got No, you gotta hope that guy's your shooter.
I don't want it for J. J.
Read it and you, because that's what we really need.
I mean, and some guy that's very pure and clutch, and it has a playoff spirit.
I don't act his age theoretic, and I really want to shoot a Kyle Korver because he could have came for cheap.
Now they brought those two guys and they definitely could help the other Nicks players working the shooting mechanics, you know, in practice they do like only, you know, they always do stuff like shooting drills like they do like three point shootout challenges and practice.
I could definitely help all the other place on the team as well.
Put a three point shooting.
But going back to Julius Randle, you know, his game is similar to like a LeBron so Andre Egan alone.
A guy that is No.
He have signs of the athleticism.
I sneak into the bowl.
So what we need it was we have a number shooting around, so we don't need many playmakers.
You have a guy like you.
Don't look at what Golden Golden State with this That's what you have.
That's what can handle the ball digging and Draymond both believe the facilitators and they had a bunch of guys who could shoot the ball.
I could shoot and pass that Zach will be need on offense with a brief is on the triple Handles is not bad.
But you got got that can shoot threes.
No way am especially we can't defend.
We're gonna be in trouble.
That's why they had a bad game.
And I have no use if you look out. Bad shot.
How bad they please defending the dream.
That's what he looks so atrocious like that.
And you confront a lot of things with home.
Julian Randol, If you if you put him at the elbow, he will destroy you.
Want a fish post with him? Dribble, handoff.
I screen a room and then offensively, he can handle the pick and roll.
This thing is, he's not.
Ah, catches shoot guy in the first place.
Well, it needs the phone and need basically what? Lamar Oldham.
It's gonna set him saying that Zach Randolph Body.
That's essentially what it is with.
Okay, I'm ready.
It worked fine, but we need more shooting around.
So that's why I definitely start tria at point guard.
Because every one of those guys can bring the ball off the off the check for the rebound.
They could push and go.
I'm gonna send him saying You just have to get inside out Offense upset.
Don't necessarily the quintessential point guard, but that particular offense Okay, All right.
I like I like we just send them our old in with Zach Randolph body.
Like that's for something.
I heard that when I think g m a what do you think, man? What's your assessment so far? Julius Randle.
I'll be using that point forward too much so far.
I mean, no, I mean because it's all about getting comfortable or is again a lot of his.
A lot of his turnovers have actually come from him being an opposing him, trying to drive like a key area, go into that file line area, and he's like dribbling is like a lot of traffic.
You just have to be able to go where that comes with, knowing who you're playing with that comes with it again.
He has had better shooters, guys from space out because they have to get the ball cookie.
Yeah, but again, it's two games.
So you know, if if I took Jews Randall's film from last year, you know I couldn't bunched together, you know, 10 bad games and say This guy's a terrible clear, you know? And then you're gonna punch another 15 20 games say, Oh my gosh, this guy's amazing.
I mean, so everything comes back to the mean.
I think, Look, everybody's trying to find I rather these guys make his many mistakes and show his many flaws, So we know where what is what right? I mean to say, Oh, these guys are playing less went forward That just doesn't make sense.
Is two games right? It's not like he's been doing this for three seasons, and it just doesn't work.
I mean, so let the guy come into its own again.
He's the lineup, especially the second game fizzle was playing with line of stat.
Let's be honest, there's a they were experimental, like these lines that you probably probably won't be playing with unless something magical happens.
So, you know, Porter's, even though he could play what pours? Because porters in space out.
I I actually feel like he will probably play better Whit Portis than with Mitch.
That's my opinion, right? Right, Right again.
Yeah, because like I said, you know, when you watch this film, he plays better with big men who could space i e d versus guys who need to be in that.
That that pain position I eat Mitch Robinson.
So again, it's two games.
Mr Robinson comes out, make up.
Mr Randall comes out Next game gives you 21 9 and five will be singing his praises, right? So again, I e don't think anybody is killing him.
I'm just I think we're just saying, you know what? What are we doing? You know, you know? What do you think of him so far? Oh, I mean, nobody would like to start with what we think of him so far, right? And I'm not coming out sad besides my guy.
But you know what? I was like, Oh, you should maybe play last point forward, Mike.
Look, it's just a few bad few back, please, here and there.
It's a bad game.
Either mix, you know, wizards were hot they were looking to try to kill us, You know, Bravo two down.
Who cares about the freaking wizards? Um, I just think that look, he's just fine.
China find his way of trying to find where guys moving? Yes, if you look at the paint, the paint.
So you look at the Pelicans offense for the 1st 2 games.
At least from the second game, we probably show less off ball movement in the same game that probably most Republicans games last year.
Rental again is a guy who plays a 0.
4 position, this guy way, these guys moving in perpetual motion guys getting open, we could make that pass.
You know, that's his bread and butter.
So I think once physical implements a little more ball movement like we saw in the first half of the first game, you know? I mean, you know, and more of that ilk, you're gonna see Randall excel in that point for position.
But right now, keep do what you do.
Look, let the let the turtle was come, and they're gonna come.
So it is what is gonna find out your wrinkles and NCR.
Maybe when I play with D S J.
This guy, this guy, me being a 0.
4 fromthe wing doesn't work as well as me trying to facilitate from the post or vice versa.
So right now it's still just live experiment.
Of course, there's a lot of experimentation right now.
We'll see. You know we'll see was gonna happen.
But there's only two games left.
No, there's only two preseason games left.
I'm pretty sure I'll check.
Let me look again.
They play the pelicans on the 18th which is this Friday.
So there's only two preseason games left, and then the game start to count, right? So I mean, you know, you're really as this looking right now at what they're doing and things they're doing on the floor.
You know, pretty soon these games are gonna count.
You got basically a week and 1/2 before these games count.
You know me So yeah, I think you know it's time for me to kind of take a hard look, Fizdale said.
You know, he's not looking for have anything set in stone for Friday's game against the pelicans.
You know it's gonna move into is gonna move into the regular season, which you got 789 new guys.
So there's still gonna be a lot of things that they're working through.
May we'll see how this is gonna come out.
And by the way, Kevin Knox.
You know, he did Ah, postgame interview as well.
And he said, you know, the ax him about coming off the bench and how he would feel about your orders.
Oh, not why would it? Well, he said that for some.
Oh, how why would have Waddy Waddy say I assume now, uh uh, no, he had he had the perfect response.
I'm just saying they asked him about it.
Uh, they're perfect response, though, You know, they say e I'm playing.
I'm playing right now.
Okay, so I know.
So Kevin knocks.
This is Kevin knocks, Ladies and gentlemen, Kevin Knox.
Just a weird just accident that happened in the game.
But another practicing lately have my treatment coming into an extra treatment.
Stuff like trains have done a good job.
Just treating, so I feel good.
I think I got a possible one.
I mean, we got chewed out a little bit, but it's always good way needed a game like that so we can learn from it and move on from it.
I watch a lot of money.
So it was good friends with the guy and we had two great practices, really.
Mentally, I have to return the computer really hard.
Defense is sharp.
It was good after a session like that because it carries over practice.
So we come out with intention.
No, he's been hurt.
The last couple of Dennis Look, Thio.
Dennis is a great player, very explosive.
Gets to the basket really well.
He's working on his jump shot a lot this summer, not down, knock down.
A couple jumps out today and practise scrimmage, so he's looking better get him on the court because it just brings another point guard to our team.
That's explosive, loves running, transition.
Everything looks up.
Just get to the basket and find people.
So he's a great player, so looking for to get back on the floor like where you're going up against Mark.
Oh, yeah, straight is exactly what I need every single day.
Going against somebody has been a legal long time establishing league s is a great player, defense and offense.
So that was a different Lucien oppose, always telling me to take my time and stuff like that.
So means always a great person to go against special like him doing pretty good last year. Start.
Great percentage is going good this year.
I get to learn from someone like that.
I mean, that's really good that I can learn from.
How different is that versus last year? So young now you brought in.
Obviously, a lot of vets have a dynamic Last year.
I mean, you had We have to invest in our team, but they don't really play that much, but they're really good teaching us and just talking to us.
This year, we got best.
That's actually complaining who go out there and compete.
So I was good for his young guys that would go against him.
We go at him so defend an offense that they just really competing, really getting after it.
So that's something we can learn from you.
Not sure about, like I'm not turning like that.
You did end up coming up with a different mentality for you than starting.
I mean, not really.
I mean, I should I bring that spark off the bench? I mean, if that happens, I come off, bring energy.
It's always a second team.
They're really those chairmanship teams.
The second team is always good players that go out there and just bring another energy.
Keep the level up.
Goering runs if that. If that's the case.
So I mean, if I do come up with bench and that's probably my roses come out, bring a spark, bring energy.
Just keep keep began going.
So keep rotating in Ever come off the bench? I really I mean, I school course in all of this I would never come off danger.
Uh, not really a colored and come up with Mr Much, don't you? And I never did.
Different experience for me is that I was gonna ask me just getting into the flow again.
Unusually. You can kind of feel your way out.
That's gonna be tougher because you start the game off the flow of the game.
It's your blood going, stuff like that.
So just starting on the bench is gonna be a little different from yourself.
If that happens, you gotta get used to it.
Really. Just keep progressing. Drive here.
Kevin knocks, ladies and gentlemen, talking about coming off the bench, and he has the right attitude, You know, if he's axe to come off the bench, you know, like he said, those championship teams, the bench is a key.
You know, mean benches a key.
So, you know, I like his answer there, you know? I mean, I don't know if you guys in the chat wherever they hear it.
Um, but I think you know Kevin Knox.
Listen, Kevin Knox is a young guy who understands that, and he's got the right mentality to the game.
And look, I'm gonna tell you what.
If Julius Randle was gonna make the All Star team, he's gonna need Kevin Knox to be out there because he can.
He's proven that he can shoot.
He set a goal, Guillermo to be a 40% shooter this year from the three point line.
I can understand why Cleo was asking about Julius Randle possibly playing the center spot.
We can not explain that four spot because Kevin Knox could spread the floor and he can also go to the basket.
He can do some things.
I just think there would be too small to do that permanently.
You know, a reason be I can hear you.
I just think that they might be too small to do that permanently.
Kevin knocks Julius Randle playing the four or five.
I think that would be some issue.
Be some issues there defensively.
Probably, you know, me.
But Julius Randle would need Kevin Knox because they are gonna play together at times that Kevin is going to be able to spread that floor.
He's gonna need Kevin Knox if he's gonna have a chance to make the All Star team.
Kevin knocks brings another dimension to the game.
Yeah, yeah, Kevin Dogs.
I thought you said Mitchell Robinson said, There's my bad laughing.
Yeah, so I heard the interview.
Look, Kevin, not Kevin Ox seems to have ah little bit more mature and in terms of parties, looking at things, I also think he has a perspective.
Look, Marcus Moore is not gonna be here, so once he's going, obviously I'm gonna be starting on getting you know, more minutes in the starting position.
Andi, I think, is up.
I think it's I think, honestly, it's best for guys like Randall Guys like Knox to play coming off the bench to see how to starting unit acts, but performs.
You get, you get less pressure coming in.
You can play a little more town after town of trying to score or whatever, because now you're gonna be asked to do that, come off the bench.
And then now you know how to play in spots, right? You know how to defend a little bit better.
You can see how to defend.
You don't have to come up with all that pressure.
No, the starting team.
So again, a lot of guys are here like R. J. Barrett just got drafted.
Kevin, I got drafted last year.
Eyes guys are here for a few more years, isn't so.
There's not much pressure on you.
Do you know, be a super style and I were in college.
Come in till you're old and do the quiet.
Anything quite literally first got drafted by Spurs, went rebound, lead defense and little by little, you got implemented.
The offense actually you know, great pop is like you could just shoot.
You told me to show you something.
Say, find your niche in office because you do a good job.
Otherwise, you know, finally arose.
And I think that, you know, it may not be like that for knock.
Something knocks amorphous system Guy means more of a system, A system guy, but he's more of a system.
But you know, our job as a field guy.
Enough time once these guys get traded, so just learn right now, get everything you need and just work hard. Whenever you come in.
Knox, play defense.
Be aware of your man on defense.
When you're playing on offense, play with a purpose.
You can shoot threes.
Well, don't be scared, too, when you need to drop to the basket.
Doing in angles are j bad.
You're Phil guy, you know, when you get the open shot, try toe, you know, improve your shooting, you know? So if you get open shot, make it play good defense like you did in the first half of the second game.
You know? I mean, so small things.
There's no these young guys men again said we talk about the timing.
Wise guys have been in college for one year and leaving.
They're still kids.
So only there's no absolutely no rush for it for any of these guys got out, perform surgery, got guys like Morris.
You got Randall.
You got a bunch of veterans.
We can take the big, you know, the big load.
So just come in and find, find your little spot funny angle and grow from there.
And then when those guys get traded, you're against the starting position here.
Um, I'm gonna come right back, and we'll come back so we can get some last words.
I just wanna makes him announcements real quick.

And you guys can, um you know, you know, actually, before I get before I get back to the shadow, I don't know if you guys have a topic that you want to discuss, but I'm gonna run you everybody because I want to I want to get back to having these times where we all can just, you know, have a little conversation.
You know, I'm saying I don't know if you guys got anything you want to discuss real quick.
Everybody's a nude it right now.
You got anything you guys want to discuss? Let me right now for a few lessons right now for this Next couple for about three minutes, man.
Allegis save this right? I just wantto I just want people.
Thio understand one thing you know at this point it But But who is this entirely to do? Every weird rotation, Every single strange experiment.
You know, if this guy wants the ball, let him at the ball, you know, let people try stuff and leathers really figure out where the depth and what the roles are gonna be on this team, that floor like, but you feel me is what we need is a consistent flow, Smooth demeanor way Can't have guys getting caught like like, you know, like obstructions and Emma Leaky pipe.
You know what I'm saying? When they're throwing out there on the ground, sitting there, getting stuff, not really moving around, not being helpful, So that's my fault.
I think we also talked about you talked about with Tony Crow's.
Um I think we could talk about, uh, you know, when we look at this team where we want to have a model of success, you know what team does this? What historic team or recent team does this current team kind of resemble? Um, and if so, like, if so, like, what can we do to kind of mimic those guys like you asked Crow.
He came up with some crazy examples.
Well, I don't really know what this team like.
I can't think of a team that had an influx of so many guys, and then you had a bunch of young players as well and a relatively new head coach.
And then they found success within, like, the first or second year.
Or maybe you just let me say the first years, though I'm usually to see what you guys takes on that because, you know, again, this team, I think is really, really, really talented.
But no, can this team sneak into the playoffs even with the weak, ese, you know, and I love to know what team kind of I think that with this similar makeup, Well, well, you know the question Well, but you know, the Atlanta Hawks team, they they did it.
Which, which one does what Joe Johnson so so back.
Won't they have that? Yeah, when we had that discussion, I think the year before they missed the playoffs, it was, I believe, the year before that, Mr Playoffs.
And then the next year they won 60 games.
Now, I'm not saying, but I mean but they had one, like 30 something games or something like that.
But I think that Mr Playoffs and then they won 60 games.
Um, it was quite not a 1 40 some games.
So maybe they didn't Mr play off one of the good stretch there.
One of those teams, did I? I don't remember, but they had, like, a 2020 game turnaround.
I'm looking it up right now.
I'm a tell you right now, right? They had, like, a 20 game, and when we were having that discussion, that's what we were talking about. We were talking about.
Not just We were talking about having that type of a turnaround 20 game turnaround, right? So you have the Atlanta Hawks? Ah, they were 38 44 in 2013.
In 2014 they did make the playoffs, though they got eliminated in the first round.
It was 38 44 got eliminated in the first round.
The next season, there was 16 and 22 but that's hollow.
That's a big leave.
That's a big league.
He did have that.
She better the best examples.
They didn't have a lot of talent.
Right hand. Horford.
But then again, guys like what's in a mom like Josh Schmidt? And what the hell is this guy's name? Joe Johnson? They were.
They will more so veteran players.
And then you had Mike Woodson, who kind of operated more The isil game through Joe Johnson, right? I did it, I remember.
Withheld their point guard was, uh that may be my baby.
And and maybe at one point 2014.
2015 teen, Let me see what the rock can't base more cow Kovar.
You know, they would have the kid for that one.
To the wolves, right? What the hell? That guy's Yes.
Well, Jefty, that Mike Scott Dennis Shoulder Uh, Mike Niskala, Paul Millsap.
Shelvin Mack Cow Kovar.
Yeah, there was in the eight tomorrow Candle, Elton Brand and Agile Johnson.
They didn't have No, they didn't have Joe Johnson.
That was after Joe Johnson and Josh just minutes left.
Already right for piston gm.
That's a decent example.
I watch how that team played.
I do remember them getting extremely hot.
Uh, there's a 61 team.
But, um, yeah, that's a That's a pretty that's a process of comparison vesicles back to the way we ran the Spurs system.
Yeah, Yeah, they basically ran his first system.
My bullet holder came from the Spurs system.
They did a lot of trouble handover acting at the elbow.
Our horse report Millsap, they bring a lot of horns.
Action with that team? No.
Yeah, that's what a start.
Okay, that I think the whole star five made all starts into something. Something like that.
They had, like, five guys on all starts.
Yeah, that you crying, Rose to the top on the lawn down winning.
That was a problem in that season.
Didn't can be's more get.
Did you get a lot of minutes? Say, Yeah, that was That was that? Yeah. I'm okay.
Baseball was dead.
But home, you still come off the bench, right? He really he wasn't.
He's not necessarily a wing defender.
You don't mean it.
Yeah, And who's a point? I think he started.
They started cow quarter as well.
Jefty, I don't have to get home.
How about a shot in the leg.
I think that yes, something way complicit.
But but but But Hey, guys, I'm gonna try a shot, but yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm trying to do.
I'm trying to get back to doing this.
Little visit is going up.
Guys wear still young.
Yeah, but listen, I'm gonna try to do this a little bit more often.
What? We just open up, guys, so we can have a ah, debate conversation And where, but for tonight, but home I'm gonna head off for tonight.
We've been on for a while.
Is one o'clock in the morning and I got to get up out of here.
Ladies and gentlemen.
All right, so if you guys starting with you and you, if you want out just last words, man.
And you want to give us some last words real quick.
I'm just saying Thanks for having me on the shoulder high man.
I appreciate you Well, bass.
I'm the same home.
Thanks for having me on the show.
Yeah, it was good.
Having a showing to man that said, uh, looking forward to Wednesday.
Man, I want to see how we try to shut down.
This is little brat and Trey Young, who's I'm joking around.
He's a very talented player. I can.
I mean, you just you just, you know, you know what players get when they're annoying me.
So he's like that annoying type of player.
But yeah, I want to see how you defend him.
Um, if we're really focused on the defense myself way, talk about a similar time, my offense and all the stuff.
I'm really more so concerned about the team defense, right? I think that that type of stuff that when you see early dividends, I think that kind of, you know, stays on throughout the season.
So I'm just curious to see how we defend this team and where that defensive identity is gonna come from.
Like everybody's playing at a Max level.
You know, Wizard's got hot, so I can't really get on the jet jets.
I can't really get in the mix too much.
I guess we got Oh, Grandma was filling itself.
You feeling self a little bit right? Cause the jet way.
All right, so what's all your Giants fans? I didn't hit first.
We got lost to the Patriots got to help us out.
I had no one think the just forgetting the Giants within one game within one game.
Other Cowboys. One game.
I know. Thank you.
Bye, Sim. I didn't nobody say anything.
Everybody hit my man, Sam Darnold, but do cook 338 yards to touchdown.
Well, coming off a mano off kissing dirty girls in the club.
And no one gave my man $7 My just any love But you know, it is what it is, man.
Give a feeling itself with the jet ski.
Oh, you feeling one thing? Little what he's feeling itself because they want it is okay, huh? What about the Giants? I'm just saying no one.
Think the Jets we beat the Cowboys for you are.
And if the Giants get in in the playoffs this year, 11 extra game will have won its game above the Cowboys.
I just I just give us a little what has to happen to the Giants organization.
An order for a Jets fan toe.
Have any room to even talk? Three years ago, he would not be saying this 23 years ago, he'd not be saying this, My Lord.
Jets, Jets, fans.
Yes, We are still in third place.
The Giant win third place. But thank you.
You know, saying we would like for you to help was killed our trophy cases.
Well, but you know me.
You see, he's a hate.
Assumes a eight of it.
I was just saying we would like for them to help us build the trophy case.
So we need some help in that category along the New York around.
You got the most important Super Bowl winner of all time.
So that's not Look, the Jets always guys special place.
And how was that? Yeah, How is that the most important Super Bowl winning ball, too? Because it combined a F C with NFL.
Because member back then it was like the start of NFL.
Excuse me with the NFL.
If it wasn't for that evidence, so it just come out.
So the NFL boys a nice to it would have been a Let's just keep it as a separately.
And we wouldn't have a beautiful lead that we have today.
Let's Let's put some respect on the Jets.
Doing it big This we just my how long ago that was.
Yo, yo, You never said that.
You have just special savvy is.
But I don't like this.
I don't like it or you should have never told that story used.
Remind everybody how long there that works way.
Stop the Patriots.
We stopped it from going undefeated.
Come on, I think.
And I think you guys, I didn't think I did.
Thank you guys for doing that.
That was That was beautiful.
I can't rely that I'm not a Giants fan, but that that Super Bowl was very fun to watch.
Man, that's gotta be the best Super Bowl victory ever. I don't care.
It was it was fun.
To watch from a hole is a man that's got to be the best Super Bowl victory ever.
Younger man. Jensen, straight out number one.
You got number one of the most clutch catch ever.
With tight. Wait, wait.
I give you that with David Tyree.
One of the most clutches clutch catches ever.
I would almost watch escape ever.
I'll give you that.
You I I'll give you that.
He lied that That was disgusting Escape.
I'll give you that gun slinger.
You know that that game was that game was so nerve wracking it crazy for me.
I was while it out.
I needed that win so bad When Yeah, when Time A That.
I couldn't believe it.
I thought it was incomplete.
And they said it was I was like, You know, there's no way the giant schools, you know what the most important Plato was, it was even any of that.
It was when a scientist Samuels drop that would be in a seven game.
Yeah, that would be very true.
That would end of the game.
That that's how you know it was meant to be.
It right is estimated to be in It was destiny, and it was right.
It was right there.
Asante Samuel was a quarterback who literally his bread and butter was playing Ah, zone and just catching interceptions.
That was his bread and butter.
And the way that bull just Yeah.
So I give it to John way back to we're gonna be back.
We're gonna win another super bowl before the Jets.
I think I used to have like the car.
So I used to write Jets Joe's Day stabs and dope.
You see a black with green with the green out.
You know, with the green trend that was lining up the shine.
Agree, and it was road tough.
You can't fly jets.
I support the Jets subordinates.
But you support is like your supporters, like on some, like give a dollar to a kid in Africa type I like.
I like the little change would give out at McDonald's or something like that.
I don't like that.
I mean, I support him.
No, I support it just but it is up to us.
It's up to us. Just finished.
You know, our coach sucks.
Owner sucks, But Sam Darnold man the boy, the boy special man.
I saw that. It's even less.
Danny dimes any gun.
Only Danny can't picks.
If only if only you guys could hold down your division.
Now he's jealous over Danny Dimes.
I knew there was a whole bunch of pictures of jealousy game.
If you guys got sick.
Couldn't find the cornerback.
It always tries to be in the playoffs.
Oh, BJ would still be here.
You guys in the playoffs, man? Sam Darnold with your weapons.
You know, John's got a good old line.
I had a few good weapons.
Guy Ingram, you got Barkley was good, but they didn't even play against the Patriots, though.
Any play? What? The patriots? We had no shepherd.
No Ingram know Barclay.
You guys were up.
Well, but we look the giant defense, and if it does suck, I'll give it to you.
Look, I don't expect you guys to beat the Patriots, but relax, guys, they have eternal Wait, was it? You know, you caught the Yeah, I got the fumble.
Let's say we had a chance in the fourth quarter, man.
With eight minutes left with down by now that we just But anyway, I'm gonna get up.
I'm gonna get up out of here.
I and I'll be on tomorrow.
Ladies and gentlemen, E o have a Have a good night.
Have a good night.
Have a good night and buddy piece base case.
Ladies and gentlemen, as I said,
