What would what Up.
What up? Welcome to the Laker Central podcast.
I'm your host, Alex.
So we're just gonna jump right into it.
The Lakers play the Golden State Warriors now, the preseason game in about 30 minutes or so, no.
LeBron know Anthony Davis Really good news on the Anthony Davis front.
His m r I on his sprained finger came back.
So it's really positive news.
Um, Kyle Kuzma He's been cleared for, um, uh, noncontact drills, But I don't think he's really gonna practice.
Five on five, Anything like that.
So you're right now, we'll take it, you know, day by day, step by step.
May go back to Anthony Davis for a second when Anthony Davis interest.
Um um, against the nets in China.
You know, the amount of ridiculous hot takes and bullshit journalism or whatever you wanna call it.
Um, the amount of people that were like happy to anti Davis was hurt.
The amount of people talking about, uh, you know, the Lakers should not have traded for Anthony Davis, and that's what the Lakers get.
And that's what Auntie Davis gets for requesting out of new Orleans really, really lazy.
And what's most interesting is that, um, I was going back and forth a lot today on Twitter with the ringer because the ringer had this article saying that Anti Davis's injury could be worse than what it is and that there was rumors coming out of L.
That it could be two or three months and that that was just absolutely ridiculous.
Man, What's up? Bands, man, Thanks for ahh checking in on the show.
Really appreciate you, man, like to put out that that kind of story without any legitimate sources.
And so what was most interesting is that, you know, coming out of China, Shames came out and said Anthony Davis would have an m R i when he got back here.
But at that point in China, it was still a Grade one sprain, which means that there wasn't a tear so cool.
That's all we knew coming out of China.
Ah a D was supposed to have his emery yesterday, but they got got back late from China, and so he had it today and these stories were coming out, and it's like we don't have any information yet, and if we're going to get the information, it'll probably come from from Woeser Shams.
Um, you know, Shams is read by an agency that rich Paul is in charge of.
At least he's in charge of their sports division.
Um and so if anyone's gonna get information, is gonna be the top gods.
And so it's really ridiculous that all these false doors came out trying to say that Auntie Davis was worse than his injuries.
Worse than what it is.
It's really, really lazy.
And I encourage Laker fans as I do in my normal podcast, and I do on Twitter.
I encourage you tow, actually pay attention to where the news is coming from, and to ask yourself how legit the sources my man fence here, he's messaging me.
So I want to try to get to this question.
Um, he asked me, Do I think the Lakers to try this lineup? LeBron at point, Avery Bradley at the to Danny Green at the three a.
D at the four, and we get the five.
I mean, they've essentially ran that line up already.
I believe they ran out against Golden State and our first preseason game, so LeBron, regardless of LeBron plays the one the 2 to 3 before, whatever it is, he's gonna handle the ball a lot.
So when we played Golden State opening night and we completely blasted the Warriors, you have Avery Bradley and 80 grand on the court together.
So LeBron handled the ball a lot.
And so I don't think he's necessarily gonna play the one you know, in the way that we think of the one.
Like he's not Magic Johnson right now.
He made line up with one on offense, but then, on defense, he probably would play, you know, the 45 man or I'm sorry, the small forward or power forward.
So Vince asked and to answer your question, man, I think we saw that in Game one in preseason and it looked damn good.
It looked really good.
Um, and so I'm interested to see kind of how that plays out.
And so we'll see, man.
But keep asking me questions.
I'm trying to get to him as best as they can as I go through the pregame show.
So again, you know, this is a Laker Central podcast.
Livestream doing this for pregame, my man Vincent hit me with the questions, man.
Um, he asked me, Do I think it's funny that the Clipper fans think Zoo Bach and guard a D? I mean, look, man, you know I'm a fan.
Zuba, he was a Laker.
I really like him.
Um, but zoo can't guard.
Zoo can guard a d.
I mean, not at all.
And so neither contrary as people tried to tell me mantra, as in Gardez, de stress is a long wingspan.
Well, guess we'll not only his anti day, it was like four inches taller than him.
But Auntie Davis wingspan is two inches longer than Trez is also.
So it's kind of like, Yo, there's nothing nothing that that the Clippers can do to really? So don't anybody at Anthony Davis? That's the mismatch right there.
They can throw Paul George and quiet LeBron all day long, but they can't do anything with Anthony Davis.
Um, do I think ah Andre Iguodala would be a Laker or Clipper? You know as well was tweeted out the other day.
It's 50 50 minutes 50 50.
I think Memphis is trying to find a buyout partner.
I'm sorry. Trying to find a trade partner.
They want to get a first round pick.
Memphis is being greedy.
I think they've got a first round pick from voting state to take on Andre G dollars $70 million deal.
So I think they're being greedy.
Man, I think when a guy's at the end of his career, um, I think you buy him out.
That's what he wants.
And you let him go to a playoff contender that kind of end his career, you know, in a way that is befitting of a guy like Andre you darling.
So I think if Memphis ultimately buys him out, I think it comes down to the Clippers and Lakers.
And you know if if all things are equal, then I look at the relationship that Andre you dollar has with Rob Pelinka and so you guys should know Rob pulling for used to Rep.
Andre you Dolly.
He was his agent before becoming GM of the Lakers, and Andre is recently talked about you know he still has a relationship with Rob.
Andrei's wife really likes Rob and thinks he can do no wrong.
So like I said, man, if all things are equal, then you know, I'll take our chances.
Having rob at the helm, having a relationship with a D.
I'm sorry with the with Gigi.
Not to mention, you know, we still cousins on the roster.
He played 80 you know, we got Quinn Cook.
I mean, so he played with the, uh uh, played with Andrea dollars.
So there's this guy still on the roster that I think he would like to play with, man.
So I'll take our chances.
But in terms of tonight, like I said, No Anthony Davis? No LeBron James LeBron did say that he's gonna play Wednesday and are in that preseason game.
But tonight, No.
Anthony Davis. No LeBron, no Kyle Kuzma.
He's still recovering from from that stress reaction.
Ah, it looks like it'll be about a 10 day recovery time.
What kind of see how he progresses, and then we'll get an update.
So I'm really interested to see what this Laker team looks like.
We'll call Koosman the mix, and I was hoping we could see that, uh, sooner than later.
But, you know, I want to got to be healthy.
I don't want them to Russian back.
There's really no reason for that.
Let's just get healthy, come back.
And do the Lakers need to do this offseason? So, um, if you guys are aware, you've probably seen this on Twitter already.
The Brian finally kind of addressed the Daryl Morey situation with China, and you know, to paraphrase what he said, he basically said, We have freedom of speech, but But that speech can come with you.
No can come with a lot of responsibility.
I can come with reactions that maybe we don't like.
And so he essentially said that, um, you know more.
He needed to do more research on the topic, Not so much of freedom or, you know, democracy or anything like that.
But just, you know, kind of realizing the danger that hit that, that his tweet put, you know, put those players in and other people around the world, you know, So LeBron is kind of getting blasted for that right now.
A lot of people are saying he took, you know, he chose money and things like that over freedom.
But look how many How many social topics do you want an athlete to take up, like whether it's LeBron building schools, it's LeBron trying to get equality for college athletes.
It's the Brian trying to get equality for black people in general like whatever he's doing, he's got a lot on his plate.
And so I will tell people, um, you don't expect this from time.
You don't expect this from Mike Trout? You don't expect this from anybody else and in the other pro sports.
So why does it fall on him? And so I'm not upset. LeBron.
Um, he has his own interest in home family to think about.
And that should always come first and foremost above anything else.
Obviously he wants, you know, freedom of speech.
Democracy writes all those things for everybody.
But, you know, he was put in a really bad situation.
To have to answer for somebody else's is tweet, and especially when the league didn't come out and really address it.
And look, so you really understand this when they were in China, there was nothing he was going to be able to say, because, you know, the way China operates, they could throw him in jail like anything had happened.
When you're over there, so you know I'm okay with what he said You know, I don't know if he'll address it in any further, but he said what he said and I would encourage you to kind of look a tte built, warms timeline on Twitter and kind of get the full scope.
Watch the video, watch what LeBron said and make your own mind up.
Um, my man vincey it me up again.
Um, he said, Don't Laker fans realize Rind on 80 were clicking in New Orleans? It's gonna be Showtime again, with Rondo passing they D and LeBron.
Look, man, I think Rondo has value, and I keep saying this on the podcast and on these live strings.
Rondo has value, and he does have chemistry with Anthony Davis.
But Rondo should not be the starting point guard.
Rondo should not be our, ah, long term option at point guard.
He's just, you know, he's just not that good man like he's not.
And when he's on the court, you know, you take the ball out of LeBron's hands and frankly, you want the ball and LeBron James's hand.
So I'm not against Rondo by any stretch, Um, but I'm certainly not as high on with some folks are and e, especially when we saw lineups like Rhonda on KCP.
That's a horrible backcourt.
We'll see tonight with this Laker team.
Looks like without needing superstars.
I don't even think Steph Curry in D'Angelo playing or Draymond on the Golden State side.
So I have no clue what this game is gonna look like.
Uh, I'll be watching.
Of course I'll be dropping a podcast.
Ah, recap of it, of course, but it's gonna be really interesting to see what kind of lineup vocal plays out over what was out there.
But also, I want to see how these guys look without LeBron and anti Davis.
You know, I would imagine throughout the season LeBron Anthony will rest.
Hopefully not because of energy, uh, injuries, but really, just because we're getting ready to make a playoff push and they need those guys to be fresh.
But I want to see you know how how Caruso look tonight.
I want to see if Quinn cook finally plays a man. Jerry Dudley.
He's finally gonna play for the first time in the preseason, so I'm really interested in seeing what those guys look like, You know, if we lose.
You know, it's not a big deal if we win.
It's not a big deal, but I'm really interested to see help Frank handles the steam without the superstars on the court.
And you're right, Vince.
Man, I want to see cook, play, um, the Duke and shoot and the Lakers.
We need shooters on the court like we really do.
And I want to see him kind of, you know, get in this group, get its flow and see what he looks like as a shooter.
I didn't watch a whole lot of him.
And Golden State, you know, washed him in the playoffs.
Obviously, and he looked like a competent shooter.
He's not locked down defender by any stretch but Duke and shoot.
And when you've got LeBron, you got anti Davis.
You want shooters on the court? So you know that that's really all I got for tonight's pregame.
The game's gonna start in about 15 minutes.
You know, you guys can howl at me on Twitter at Laker since with 3 65 you confined the podcast on iTunes, spotify, google, um, stitcher tune in literally everywhere you get your podcasts.
Uh, you confined Laker Central.
So please describe to the show.
