So we're here to talk about one topic.
Are the Toronto Maple Leafs in trouble? It's topic that I think everyone needs to talk about today.
What's going on, guys? This is a special edition of Leafs Lane and you guys have any climates? Comment below.
We'll talk about what you guys want talk about regarding the trauma Bay police, but this is more of a topic today.
Instead of ah, game review, we're gonna go through what the leaves have done so far.
What I see in the past and what I think needs to be adjusted.
And I think a lot of people are saying the same things.
So the start of the season, the Leaves faced the auto Senators and it was a game where and the first game of the season so hard, judge, Right, there was a lot of sloppy hockey lot of, you know.
Okay, they're just trying to find their feet, but the least chemo and they eventually won the game and they took over in the second period and it was okay, so at least one and then we went into Columbus and Columbus would play that first game and the least.
We're looking sloppy in the start again, and everyone's like, Oh, OK, now it's second in the season.
It's whatever right? And then we played.
Montreal had a 41 lead and we, uh, blew the game and lost in a shootout.
And this is again.
It's the same thing of It's a slow start, right? That's three.
That's three games of the season still starts.
And Babcock, since arriving with Matthews and Murder and this team have been known for slow starts, it hasn't gotten better.
It really hasn't and we've noticed it every game and it's consistent and it's always the least always seem to be behind the start.
The name and they're always trying to chase the lead.
They're trying to always catch up, and it's becoming more of an issue now, like it's not funny anymore.
When you watch the leaves, it's not fun to watch.
The leaves always be down.
Nothing to start the game, then they're never They don't ever start the game with dominance.
It's never come on.
The ice dominate right away.
It's always this.
Let's let's wait it out and then try to chase a victory and they've done that. Every game.
So far, it's only been five games.
They've done it every single game, and they did it all last year in the playoffs, and I don't know.
I just don't see an end to it.
So then we go to the next game, which was St Louis sent again.
If those so start everyone, I would like the way they played against it.
Willis, about the way they played Ansel Blues, was, you know, the defending Stanley Cup champions, right? The team that everyone looks at to be like this is the team to beat now.
So if that front of lost 32 on home ice, which, by the way, Lisa almost lost every game Lisa on Lee won one game on the home ice.
Out of their five games, they've lost every other home game, so they have not had a great home record starting October.
So this is where I'm saying then.
So then we left St Louis, we thought, Okay, Tampa Bay's coming into town.
Tampa Bay is struggling.
So far, they haven't played well yet.
Start the season.
This is a chance to go get two points against one of the best teams in the NHL on breed uplinking back.
And we all know Brayden Point was in the same class as Mitch Marner for restricted free agency.
He took a three year deal at 6.
75 per 1,000,000.
He made an impact in his first game, and this happened last year in France Solesky, where he was injured.
He came back perfect timing, right against the trauma.
Me, please, and Tampa Bay showed us to Tampa Bay is that was a statement game for the latent.
They came out and played the way how they were gonna play.
And it showed just how important Brayden Point is to that Tampa Bay lineup.
And it kind of made the least look really weak.
May showed a lot of the least problems defensively.
Not a strong, You know, goaltending.
Freddy has to be better than this.
He struggled in October.
He's gotta be better than this.
We need more consistency.
Anna Frederik Andersen, but Snow only him.
It's just it's the whole theme again again in the beginning of the game.
Who scores first? The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Leaves are trying to kept play catch up and they do.
They make it to one, and then Tampa Bay makes it 32 and there's a lot of scoring.
But that's the first period Tima be shut us down.
The game is over.
After the first period, they play structure.
And this is the thing where when people talk to me about the Boston Bruins, even though I hate the Boston Bruins to death there, that one of most consistent NHL teams I've ever seen, every game they play like it seems like for 60 minutes they're like just the same team.
They don't drop off a CZ much, and they don't fall apart like the least.
They're always consistently good, innit? It pains me to watch that people watching Marshawn, Pasternak, Krejci, all these players who have been there for so long just gel and they just go in the ice.
The game starts and they just start to tell.
It's like so consistent from started the game to the end of the game.
And there's a reason why they are the stills.
They always finish in the top two in the division, and they weren't bad for that long, even when they were bad, because of the way they play.
It's the coaching.
So you start to ask yourself, Is Mike Babcock the problem? Ah, lot of people will tell you he is.
Ah, lot of people will say he's way too stumper.
He's way, too, in his own head.
He doesn't know what he's doing anymore, and I don't know.
On 30 si issues.
Couldn't see consistently, doesn't put centers to take faceoffs.
He puts wingers, and that led to a goal in this game in a defensive zone.
Face off, he had a wicker taking a face up and stand close.
Or I think it was severely sorry.
It's like me and instead of chance.
And it's just it's just frustrating the watchman's.
It's just the little things that he does.
Putting the four find out after a girl.
Why do you put the fourth line out? Fourth Linus, For like when you have one, you don't want to play your starters in the game.
You want to give your starters arrest, you don't put them up right after a goal.
Who does that? And he does it all the time.
I just feel like he's one of those coaches who we know.
He's so stubborn.
Thank you for joining the broadcast.
Like I said, Is there any questions below? You wanted me to talk.
If you guys have anything you want to save towards the least just let me know will talk about anything.
It's so frustrating.
A watchman like just ah makes me want to scream.
I don't get it happened like we're such a good team.
This is a team where I look at and I see Top five Rachel Potential Berry, Riley, Austin Matthews The least you need better defense.
Honestly, this is unacceptable.
CC is not working out.
See? See, they're not doing well.
Can you come back tomorrow? Cause we need Travis German back.
San Dean is I think he's He should be in developmental.
I don't think he's ready.
He's being thrown into the rules and it's killing him.
And you look at this for a group and you say Okay, we got to embarrass Captain and martyr Matthews Johansson.
This team should be ableto dominate people we have, like, if not the second best offensive team in the league.
We are all teams that you can throw out there and just should just be able to just put pucks in that consistently.
Just dominate the fortune.
It shouldn't even have to come back on defense.
I remember that Pittsburgh Penguins, back in 2008 had Milk and Crosby again.
They didn't need defense.
They Kris Letang.
The rest for a bunch of HL guys and they still want to Stanley Cup.
It can be done, Believe me, I've seen it.
I've seen it done.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are a great example of that.
A team uses their offense toe, win Stanley Cups and just place defense solidly enough throughout the game has solid enough goaltending and could put wins together, but the least can't do that the least.
Just for some reason, they can't wrap their head around that.
And as a fan who's been watching since he's six years old.
I've been watching this team for now for like 18 years.
It's just getting to a point where there's part of you that doesn't want to watch anymore.
There's there's just a party that it breaks your heart to watch this constantly, just disappointing seasons, and people might call me crazy.
But I think the 2013 lease with Castle Grabowski, That's he was better because they were the when you look at who's on that team, that team was horrible.
They were so bad.
But the way they played as a team, they fought for every single game that those guys had before.
Even in that Boston Siri's, it really didn't stay the chance, Really.
They fought for Game seven.
They pushed Boston, who were looking like the Stanley Cup contenders tow their limits, and that team would like John, Michael Liles and and Colton, Orr and Frasier McClaren and that that team, like they trying for 60 minutes.
They went out there and they tried and they weren't even good.
We literally had Castle.
I think our best players were like Kessel.
Raves liken Bozak.
We were a one Line T back then, but it was the effort from guys like or Bosque and Cooler Men and Leo calmer off and just the way they played as a team.
Reimer always played his best.
That team just seemed to care.
This team doesn't seem to care.
They just go up there and they think, Ah, where these young guys making $12 million each.
We'll figure out a way to win, and it's not working.
There's something someone's got to step up in that.
I think maybe we have the wrong captain like, is it? The captaincy is if the coaching is it the whole morale of this team, that it's all about money, and that's the thing I want to get into.
Two is you look a Tampa Bay look.
Other teams along the league.
I hate saying this hometown discounting, but usually you think as a player, if I want to be a good team, I have to take a little bit less.
You know I can't take from everybody's pocket.
If we want to be this superstar team and we wanna be in the playoffs and you will see these players, they take a little less.
Crosby, even back in his day, took less over.
He took less on I get.
I know that they were front loaded and they were different contracts.
I get it just the way Tampa Bay of Structure.
I know it's the Florida State taxes, but everyone seems to be on board with what you're worth and to keep the team together.
There's a general love toe.
Want to keep that team together? Those players don't want to play in Arizona.
They don't want to play in Colorado.
They don't want to play in Washington.
They want to play on Tampa Bay and they want to win a cup together.
And that's very obvious to see that And I think the least are all pay me, pay me the money.
Martyr makes way too much money.
I love my Believe me, I think Murder's fantastic player.
It's Tyson very worth it.
I think he's in the wrong role.
He's kind of He's like another Jake Gardner, right, very offensive, has struggled defensively.
I think there is good he's in the run roll.
I don't know how they fit him in with they should.
I don't think him and Muslin are working out.
I don't think and I don't know him and Riley will work out.
I just don't want to do I.
I don't know what to say here.
It's just getting to a point where I know it's early and I know I could be.
This video could be so criticized in two months when the lease or third division and I'm making it is like, Hey, at least one Fantastic.
We're playing great.
It's just thoroughly season struggles.
But why don't I feel like that? That's not gonna be the case.
Why do I feel like this is gonna be different, like we're gonna be fighting for a wild card spot? I truly believe that at this rate, looking at the how those T restructure and how they're playing, I think we're a wild card team. At best.
I don't think we're a top three in our division and we should be like, talk to we should rewrite behind Tampa Bay with the way this team with the light up that we have, it's unacceptable not to be second in the division.
And I don't see it being second intent efficient, And I know like I said, maybe we'll come back.
Maybe maybe this is just, you know, early season struggles.
We haven't got our chemistry down because we've changed the light up a bit on.
There's been a lot of movies and move outs.
I just want to sit like I'm not even happy if they leave, speak to train on Saturday, I'll make a video about it, but I'm not gonna be happy about it because it doesn't mean anything.
Beating a top bottom side draft team doesn't mean anything to me.
And it shouldn't.
It really shouldn't be.
I want to beat teams that are gonna be contenders.
I want to beat Tampa bed.
I want to beat St Louis.
I wanna beat Winnipeg.
I want to be teams that are actually gonna stand a chance in the Stanley Cup.
That's what I want to see the leaves to be consistently.
I don't want to be true.
I don't want 42 twins of Buffalo, Montreal, Ottawa L.
That doesn't mean anything to me.
That doesn't show that you're a good team.
That just shows you convene a bottom five draft team. Congratulations.
Lie between the other teams that could do that.
Anybody could beat those teams because they're not good enough yet.
They haven't developed 1/3.
They're building up.
So what are we? Do we When do you guys think we should bring in? Sheldon? Keith, Sheldon, keep has been a sis consistently good coach in the mornings.
I love his system.
I've got tons of barley games.
I love the way that team plays.
They play with so much heart and effort, and I just don't see Badcock having that in the locker room.
There's something that that's locked, lacking.
So anyways, uh, it's been a frustrating few days for me As a least fan.
I'm sure I'll get over it.
And I'm sure we'll be back here, probably in the months talking about how positive things are.
Maybe we won't, but we'll see any of these guys.
Thanks for ever joined the podcast today.
Let's see how it goes.
It's fall, but the least are falling.
Seems to be consistent, right? It's Canada.
Anyways, this is your boiling dash Co.
This is sportscaster in.
We'll see you later. See you guys.
