the New England Patriots have improved to five you know on the season after defeating the Washington Redskins today, 33 to 7.
But the game was really the tale of two halves.
Now the Patriots defense got caught flat footed on one play that resulted in one touchdown.
Besides that, the bowled out for basically the entire game.
The Patriots offense, on the other hand, spluttered had no balance, and we're right down, frustrating to watch until the second half.
And then they turned back to their regular cells, and the Patriots are now on short rest before they host the New York Giants on Thursday night.
But before we look at the Giants game, let's take one last look at the Patriots win over the Washington Redskins.

There's no line up tonight because we're just talking about the New England Patriots victory.
And, ladies and gentlemen, a Pats nation.
I'd like to start talking about our New England Patriots because here at DPMNE, we like football.
We like football season and everything that goes with it.
All right, So, like I said, this Patriots offense looked absolutely spectacular in the second half, and we're absolutely maddening and frustrating to watch in the first half.
Now, one inconsistency that I saw, or at least one another untruth that I saw was people saying that Washington's defense had come out to play today and that they were really taken it to the Patriots.
That's not true at all.
The Patriots actually made Washington's defense look so much better than they really were.
And if you watch my play by play today, you would have heard me say it.
The Patriots in the first half, where their own worst enemy and they were beating themselves, not the other way around.
Now, when it comes to the defense, look, the defense got flat footed on a good play and they got beat.
Besides that, they played absolutely, positively spectacular, and I got nothing really negative to say about the defense.
They did exactly what I would have expected out of them to do.
It's really funny because every single week it feels like a new player steps up on the defense.
Shine's Last week it was really Kyle Van Noy.
The week before is probably Jamie Collins.
It was definitely my man number 54 Mr Boom Tower, who really had a solid game.
Sony Michelle, Welcome back to the offense.
Welcome back to the offense.
Brady finally now has a receiver who received over 100 yards on the day.
Yeah, how did yet we actually saw it Tight ends involved in the game.
We saw a little bit of old school defense, but let's talk about that first half.
What the New England Patriots did in the first half of this game was they allowed Washington to hang around because at no point time except when they had a seven nothing lead in the first quarter of the game.
Washington never had control of this game whatsoever, and really, they didn't have it Before that touchdown.
I counted 12345678 times, eight times that the Patriots offense allowed Washington to stay in the game.
In the first half, Brady overthrows Josh Gordon on what would have been a touchdown pass.
You know that has nothing to do with receivers.
That has nothing to do with offensive line.
That has all that has to do with Tom Brady's on a poor pass that resulted in the Patriots punting in the next Dr Washington scores.
At seven points late in the second quarter, Julian Edelman had a ball that bounced right out of his hands, right off his chest and gone instead of turning his hands of making the catch, he tried to cradle it, and he lost it.
That resulted in the Patriots punting.
There was a sack on the first possession on third down, and Washington came with a three man pass rush.
The New England Patriots offensive line had them out, Man 5 to 3, and somehow three offensive lineman ended up on one defender to defend offensive lineman ended up on another.
And that gave another guy an absolute free release of Tom Brady and sacked him on third down.
And I really think that that one was on Ted Caress the center.
He looked like the odd man out on that play.
Tom Brady took a 17 yard sack on first down in the first half, and it was Marcus Cannon.
It wasn't Marshall Newhouse.
It wasn't Ted cares.
It was Marcus Cannon, who's been one of the best Patriots offensive linemen of the season.
A season guy got absolutely bull, rushed, not turn it into a second and 17.
Then Brady's under pressure in the red zone.
He kind of just throws the ball up in the air and it gets intercepted.
It was a terrible throw.
A terrible decision by Brady.
He should have tried to get it out of bounds and look more like an inexperienced quarterback doing it.
Tug Caress takes a holding call after Tom Brady runs for a first down on 1/3 down play.
There was 1 15 left in the half.
Tom Brady takes an awkward slide.
Picks up the first down for the Patriots.
Who didn't need to do the whole give called on hold.
They had a wasted opportunity.
Devin McCourty intercepted the ball deep in Washington's territory.
Not Devin McCourty. Jason McCourty.
The Patriot had to settle for a field goal and then, right before the second half started finishes for the first half finishes.
Patriots are third and goal.
Tom Brady rolls to the right.
Thought about running.
It couldn't Josh Gordon is screaming for him in the end zone.
Brady misses him, ends up through on her way, and they settle for a field goal.
And then they came out in the second half and it was a completely different team number one.
They went to the run game, and they stuck with the run game.
Sony Michelle ended up with 16 rushes on the day for 91 yards.
He also received three balls for 32 so he was over 100 yards of offense.
The Patriots came out and had a good mix of pass and run on the 1st 2 possessions of the second half that led to two touchdowns.
Then they come out after the second touchdown.
Brady throws on four consecutive passes.
A big played, too, Um, Josh Gordon and then three and out.
After that, they come back out.
They go back to running past score, another touchdown.
So Josh McDaniels, I've been saying it.
I haven't been thrilled with his play calling throughout the entire season, but I look better this game, even when it's not working.
I want them to stick with run.
You saw what happened.
The pass rush, basically DISIP.
It dated after they started going to the run, and if you keep running the ball, it'll start working.
Sony Michelle didn't have a great start to the game, and then he started running.
James White had some solid runs.
James White average 4.
3 yards per run.
Sony Michelle 5.
7 per carry, right, Brandon Bolden had five rushes for 13 yards, only every 2.6.
So I'd like them to continue sticking with the run and really opening things out.
Now the defense.
What more can you say about the defense? This Patriots defense is on the verge of putting up absolutely historic numbers.
They look absolutely amazing.
This Patriots defense has given up double digits, scores points once this year.
That was against Buffalo last week.
Besides that, they haven't given up more than seven points in a game.
As we know, New York Jets got 17 points.
14 of those points came off a special teams in an offensive interception that turned into a pick six.
And what I love about this Patriots defense is every week it's a new guy who steps up, and this week it was High Tower and High.
Tower is my player of the game.
He was all over all over McCoy today.
Hightower ended up with five tackles on the day, one and 1/2 sacks on the day.
He was just a menace to that offensive line because Van Noy actually had a pretty quiet game Today.
I'm looking here, I don't think he recorded a tackle.
Jamie Collins had a quiet day for him.
Did have one sack.
He forced the fumble.
Jonathan Jones also forced the fumble today, which was actually recovered by Jamie Collins.
I think the player on the defense that I think had the worst game, and it's tough to talk about the worst game on again.
We'll have seven points.
Gilmore's had better games, and I liked it when Gilmore left that sort of loose coverage and went more to press coverage.
But one thing that I learned with MacLaurin here today down the road, when the Patriots got to face the Tyree Kill who will be back when the Patriots faced the Chiefs? Or you gotta play a brownout in, um, Baltimore.
I think when you're facing that kind of elite speed instead of instead of using Gilmore on one on one coverage, I like that high low safety combination cornerback safety combination with like a Jonathan Jones and ah Harmon or Jonathan Jones and a Devin McCourty or somewhere along those lines.
That's what I would prefer to see them do.
And then you can put Gilmore on the second best receiver because when it's hard to go one on one when you gotta respect speed like that.
But ultimately, the team played fantastic.
Tom Brady past Brett Farve today for this third most passing yards in NFL history.
He will pass Peyton Manning on Thursday night against the Giants.
Brady, at a quarterback rating of 106.
1, greatly improved from his poor rating last week.
He ended up with three touchdowns today when 28 for 42 348 yards.
Jared Stanton got some play time today, handing the ball off Edelman.
Obviously, the Patriots top receiver.
They catch 110 yards.
Josh Gordon at five snags for 59 yards.
James White had six for 46.
I really like that, Matt.
Ryan is Oh, combined. Had three catches.
Valid lead over combine 60 yards.
Jacoby Meyers got in the game today with a catch.
Sony Michele caught three passes.
Brandon Bolden caught a beautiful catch for 29 yards that led to a touchdown on just a beautiful strike by Brady to Boldon.
But what gives me a lot of hope about this Patriots offense goes back to the first quarter after Washington scored that touchdown and guys, look, they used a gimmick play.
They used a lot of misdirection on the play.
They did a whole lot of different things.
The Patriots blew a couple tackles, Devin McCourty, especially, and they gave up a touchdown and I was on my life's dream.
And I said All season this defense has been bailing out this offense, and it's now time for this defense, this offense to come out and bail out the defense, and that was going to show us what this team really waas.
Was it a defensive team or was it a complete team? And when Tom Brady came out with the offense and marched them down the field and scored a touchdown in no time whatsoever and responded the way they responded to that touchdown against them, that was my answer.
And I knew that this Patriots was a real team.
They were a complete team.
They weren't just a defensive team with an okay offense because I've said it.
When the Patriots need to score, Tom Brady will score and it clicked in the second half.
It wouldn't matter what wide receiver you had in the first half.
You could have had Antonio Brown.
The Patriots left points off the board in the first half, and at the end of the day, they bailed him out and it happened.
Now let's address the elephant in the room.
We had another missed extra point today.
Mike Nugent, on his first extra point with the Patriots.
The extra point puts me into a tailspin of Oh my God, Here we go again.
And then he bounces back on the rest of the day and I'm not making two field goals.
Three extra points hits along for 37.
He does what he needs to do.
Jake Bailey continues to just be one of the best punters in the NFL.
What, a draft pick.
I remember people asking, Why did you draft him? We have Ryan Allen.
I was one of those people.
I was one of the people.
That said, Alan could have been one of the contenders for a Super Bowl.
M V P Jake Veil.
Six punts have you? 47.7 yards.
He kicked a 57 yarder.
He pinned them inside the 20 twice.
How about Gun Rocha? Ski has three part returns today.
Get a couple of big returns.
I got called back on penalties.
A lot of players stepped up and played a lot better than they did the last game.
I said I would accept nothing but a convincing win by the Patriots, and I'm not concerned about the first quarter, second quarter, third quarter, fourth quarter.
I'm convinced about how they looked as a whole and as a whole.
The defense look dominant from start to finish, the offense of dominant in the second half.
It led the 33 points, four and seven points against.
It was a dominant victory as far as I'm concerned, and I'm ready to move on and I'm ready to go on to the Giants now without being said.
