So Lakers basketball is finally back.
It feels like a lifetime since all this stuff happened last season with Magic and Janey and the team suffering injuries.
But here we are, a new coach, Frank Vogel, shooting veterans.
We have Anthony Davis.
We have LeBron James.
We're the only team out there with two top by players.
I mean, that is simply amazing.
So look in, what, 10 15 minutes? We're finally going to see what this team looks like.
You know, it's not a finished product.
It's still a work in progress.
What? We're finally gonna get to see some real basketball action they're gonna take on the Golden State Warriors.
So what I wanted to do in this quick pregame show was kind to give you guys an idea of, um, what I expect to see when the Lakers take the floor today and just So you know, if I'm looking down and not quite at the camera, it's because I'm reading comments and reading tweets because I'm gonna answer any questions with things that might come through on the show.
But Connor to get back to the game tonight against the Warriors.
So I mentioned some of the things that I'm gonna look for in this particular game is number one.
How much will LeBron and anti Davis play? We've been hearing that they've shown great chemistry and practice, and we know Vogel wants them to continue to develop that chemistry, and so I'm wondering how much they're really gonna play.
In all likelihood, they'll probably played less than 10 minutes or so, but I would imagine all the minutes that that either one of them play on the floor will be actually together as a duo.
So I'm looking at that.
I also want to see how well does does this team communicate on defense.
You know, Frank Vogel had some really good defensive teams when he was in Indiana, and even under Luke Walton, the liquor's weren't a bad defensive team, But Luke has gone.
All the young guys have gone We've got veterans.
We've got guys who have been in playoff situations, final situations.
I want to see how they communicate because in a lot of times you know how good a defense really convey is based on the communication.
So I want to see how these guys communicate.
I want to see, Do they pick up the slack for each other on defense? I want to see.
Are they talking when the when When place stops.
I want to really see who's leading.
The defense is an anti Davis.
Is it Danny Green? Who is it? I want to really see who's leading the defense starting out this preseason.
I'm also curious of what kind of lineups Frank Vogel decides to roll out.
We already got word from Dave McMenamin that, um that Danny Green is going to start.
LeBron James is gonna start Anthony Davis to Bill McGee and no regime Rondo way got Avery Bradley.
Avery Bradley is going to start, and I know Laker fans are crazy happy about that rather than Rondo.
But beyond the starting lineup for me at this point, I want to see who starts who closes.
But I want to see what lineups Frank Vogel puts together.
I want to see how he how he staggers the minutes, you know, under Luke Walton.
He did a really bad job staggering the Lakers minutes.
It was more of the hockey substitution, and so I want to see a bogo handles that differently.
I expect him to.
But I want to see what kind of lineups he tinkers with in this first preseason game.
Knowing that throughout the course of the preseason that lineups are likely to change.
One of the players that I'm really looking at in this preseason game is caught favorite Alex Caruso.
I want to see what Alex Caruso looks like this preseason.
Alex had really great chemistry with LeBron James at the end of last season.
I think he had a really nice 18 game stretch, and I want to see Does that carry over into this season? Is that just a blip on the radar last year, or is it real because I'm a believer and Alex Russo? I think that he could be a legit MBA starter and you know, he key showed he could shoot last year.
He plays hard on defense.
He's got great athleticism.
Is it really so? I want to see him get a shot and I'm gonna be looking at that.
This preseason game.
Avery Bradley already mentioned he's gonna start tonight.
And, you know, I was lobbying for the Lakers to sign Avery Bradley.
I really wanted them to get him, and I'm glad that they did.
You know, when he was in Boston as a Celtic, he showed really great defensive chops.
He was really solid on that end of the ball, but in recent years, he's bounced around.
He's battled injury, but the good news is Avery says, that he's 100% healthy.
He's he's healed from that groin injury and he dropped £40.
Crazy, right? The dew drop £40 so I'm expecting him to look like that three indie guy that he did when he was in Boston.
I really hope that he can capture that because in a game like tonight, while it's just pre season and I'm sure the Warriors will not keep Steffan de Lo out there long.
But I want to see how Bradley, with Danny Green pears up against two really good or step great and deal.
Oh, good offensive guards.
I want to see how they match up.
So I'm looking forward to April Bradley.
And really, the last thing that I'm looking at, um, is Dwight Howard.
You know, Dwight Howard's back in the Laker jersey, and both he and the Lakers, I think, are looking for some form of redemption.
The white, maybe with the fans and the Lakers.
They want to get back to that championship level and show it to the last six years.
We're not going to go through that anymore.
So, like Avery, Dwight has bounced around.
He's battled injury, but at least in scrimmages and videos that we're seeing on social media, the white looks healthy.
It looks like he's got a good amount of his athleticism back, and I'm really excited to see him play.
You know, the last time Dwight Howard played a full season was back when he was a Charlotte Hornet in the 17 18 season, and, ah, Dwight, the white average, I believe, 16 points, 12 rebounds.
You played 81 games.
He played 30 minutes a game.
I mean, look, I don't expect the white to play 30 minutes a game for us.
I think he's a walking double double.
I think he can get a double double any given night that he gets an opportunity.
So I'm really looking forward for that and also for me.
I think the White has a great opportunity to be the starting center for the Lakers.
I like Louisville.
I think that, you know, he's clearly going to start tonight against the Warriors.
But I really think that that, um, Light can fight for that, that starting position.
And look, man, here we are.
Lakers basketball is finally back, and I'm looking at my timeline on Twitter.
Everybody is super excited.
I mean, this is absolutely crazy.
I can't believe we finally, we're finally going to see this product on the court.
I don't know what it's gonna look like.
You know, I have no idea, but I hope that it looks good.
You know, we've heard positive things out of practice.
We've heard that, Ah, that the Lakers for Team that has a lot of new guys and they're trying to get to learn each other.
We've heard that they look good on defense, so far that they're communicating well in the practices we've seen.
You know, Dwight, get up and down the court.
We're hearing crazy, great things about about Avery Bradley out of practice, which I would assume is what led to him starting tonight.
And that's what we're hearing, a lot of positive things, and I want to see what Vogel does with it.
You know, Frank Vogel was great in Indiana.
He was not so good in Orlando and he sat out the game for a while.
He said that he kind of went on a sabbatical and went around and talked to numerous coaches to try to figure out what was working for them in this modern basketball.
Because, look, you know that Indiana Pacers team that was really good and pushed LeBron James and the Miami Heat a little bit.
You know, the way you play defense back then is different than how T's play defense.
Now it's more five now, this more spread and even on offense.
I mean, this team, this team has competent players that has shooters and, you know, one of the biggest issues last season, aside from injuries for the Lakers, was we just didn't have good shooting, and we look at this team.
Every Bradley's is a competent shooter.
Danny Green is one of the best shooters in the NBA.
Quinn Cook is a good shooter, even though Quinn Cook, I believe, has a sore ankle and he's not gonna play tonight, you know? But this team has has shooting around for once.
Troy Daniels, who probably won't play a lot, but he can.
She's clearly a really good shooter.
Uh, Jared Dudley.
My point is that when you add shooting with LeBron James, you usually get a chip, get a trip to the finals.
Now you throw in Anthony Davis in My God, I I don't know what this is gonna be, so I'm really, really looking forward to it.
I hope you guys are too.
We're about four minutes out from the game starting, so I'm gonna end this quick pregame show now I'll probably jump back on and do a little livestream after the game.
But you know, Lakers basketball is back, baby.
And I hope everybody is excited because I sure as hell am So you've been watching the Lakers Central livestream.
