We're finally here.
Preseason is beginning.
Your Lakers gonna be taking on the Gold State Warriors opening up Chase Center.
This is just the beginning of the preseason.
No, it's not regular season or anything like that.
But for those of us myself included who have been starving for Lakers basketball, this is a monumental occasion.
Finally, we're going to see the purple and gold take the floor.
Once again, we're going to see Anthony Davis and Lakers colors can't wait.
We're gonna talk about what Lakers fans should be looking for this preseason, some things that they should be keeping an eye on as the pre season goes on.
And, of course, against the Golden State Warriors again, opening up that chase center for the Warriors.
Hopefully Lakers Hannibal loss as a nice welcome present as a as a housewarming gift here, taking out.
Hopefully that is what happens, but we'll see before we dive in everything first.

Okay, so here we go, the Lakers heading into preseason, things that Lakers fan should want to see most important above everything else, please stay healthy for given what happened last season.
For the love of Kobe, stay healthy.
We saw one Laker after another.
Pretty injured DeMarcus cousins is already lost for the season.
Lakers fans can't take any more injuries.
Everyone got hurt last season from LeBron James.
JaVale McGee got pneumonia.
Lonzo Ball's ankle.
Brandon Ingram, DVT.
One thing after another, they just did not have a healthy team.
In fact, they had a healthy squad with all of their key pieces 11 times last season.
By my count, that can't happen again this season.
The Lakers need to get through preseason healthy.
That means hopefully getting cow cruise my back.
We know after their trip to China, he's going to take another, another visit to the doctor and hopefully get a clean bill of health.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
These guys, I don't want to.
I want to see them play, but I don't want to see them play major minutes, Okay, Especially as the preseason kicks off. I'm talking.
I'm not saying I want I want LeBron to be out there 30 minutes.
I'm not saying 20 minutes and feel okay with 10 minutes 10 minutes out there of LeBron and a d.
Just knock some of the rust off and that's it.
Then go take a nice seat over there on the bench, kick back for a little bit, rest up and then watch some of the other guys guys on two way contracts.
ACN, Orvella and people like that.
Let them do the lifting, let them play, get some time and stay rested from when the game's really count.
That's what I'd like to see again.
These guys play it safe.
We can't risk any health issues here in preseason, so that is number one on the list. Lakers fans.
You should yes, be excited about Anthony Davis and LeBron James playing together side by side.
But keep your fingers crossed that they're not playing too many minutes.
I think that's gonna be really important to keeping everybody healthy and getting through preseason.
Knock some of the rest rust off and that's about it.
Don't risk anything in preseason play.
I'm really curious, and we've been hearing great things about Avery Bradley during training camp that his defense has been phenomenal.
We know he's in great shape once again, we know he's dealt with injuries, but before those injuries, he was one of the best defensive guards in the n b A.
And every player has been raving about Avery Bradley's defense during training camp.
Does that translate? I think starting off the Gold State Warriors.
That's a great test early on because you're talking about throwing mad.
D'Angelo Russell, our old friend, and Steph Curry, two guys that are two of the best offensive guards in the N B.
A excellent test throwing Avery Bradley right into the fire.
Let's see what he can.
D'oh! I'm curious to see just how good Avery Bradley is.
Are we going to see the Boston Celtics version of Avery Bradley? Because if we are, that's really, really exciting and something and somebody that could make a major difference for this Lakers team.
So curious to see how he handles De Lo and Steph Curry the bigs.
I'm gonna see Dwight Howard out there and purple it.
Never thought I'd be saying that, but here we are.
I want to see Dwight Howard out there in purple and gold again.
I'm Waseem Javale McGee, and I'm curious to see if either of them can really shine.
Does one make themselves clearly? The starter is one able to kind of take on that role Either one could.
At this point, I think JAVALE is certainly the favorite, but they're gonna have some opportunities here in preseason, especially with the Warriors being so banged up already, the Warriors are probably gonna be starting a Mari Spellman.
Kevon looney and Willie Cauley Stein are both out injured right now, so you're not going to see those guys? So there should be an opportunity here for the Lakers to feast to their bigs to really do some damage.
It again Javale McGee and Dwight Howard being the main pieces that you can see in there Now again, I don't want to see major minutes both These guys are veterans.
They know how to play.
They don't need to spend a lot of time learning on the fly in preseason or anything like that.
Again, let them knock a little bit of rust off.
Then here you go, have a nice seat over on the bench and let's bubble wrap you guys because they're certainly going to need them during the regular season, but again, curious to see how well they can integrate themselves and if one of them shows better than the other.
And does that ultimately have a play? A role in Frank Vogel's decision come opening night? Who with the starter will be said something else to keep an eye on the battle between Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee through preseason? Uh, speaking of which, speaking battles, the point guard battle.
Who's gonna win this thing? I never would have guessed it, based on last season, that that Roger on Rondo would be maybe the favorite at this point, and it seems like it.
And I know there's a lot of Lakers fans out there cringing at the thought of Rajon Rondo starting at point guard for the Lakers.
You just kind of feels like that's where the ways is going.
But there's some other names out there to Alex Caruso, Quinn Cook, Avery Bradley.
All guys who could be options for the Lakers, depending on which way they want to go.
Look, we know LeBron James is gonna handle the ball a ton.
He's probably going to be the initiator on offense.
Don't make me call him the point guard.
We've docked all about that.
How he's playing point guard, kind of not really sort of.
But the bottom line is, you need somebody out there who can defend and knock down shots next to LeBron next to a D.
I don't know that that's Rondeau, but I'm curious to see Frank Vogel has raved about how well Rondo has been shooting.
And so I really want to see him get out there and and hopefully prove his coach right now.
If it's not Rondo, these other guys can certainly step in.
So it's gonna be an interesting battle to watch.
These four guards could potentially wind up starting.
We'll see what winds up happening again.
It seems like Rondo right now is the favor.
But if you look that if you watch last season, you're probably not too thrilled with that.
So you have to wonder.
Is Frank Vogel going to see those same things that a Rondo that we saw last season that made Lakers fans fall out of love with him after he won that game against the Boston Celtics at the buzzer last season? People were all were super high on Rondo, and as the season went on, their enthusiasm for him waned.
Are we going to see that Rondo again? Is he going to step up, improve his coach, right? We will see what happens there.
But again, a battle.
The watch for Rondo versus Caruso versus Bradley versus Quinn Cook for that starting point.
Corporal Hank, you may even throw Casey Pi's name into the mix because you don't need a standard point guard out there.
You don't need a traditional point guard.
You just need somebody who can defend point guards and knocked down threes.
And I guess Casey Beacon do that as well.
We're going to see who fits best with that starting unit.
So really cares to see what happens with that, Uh, maybe one of the bigger things to hear beyond just the players themselves.
Frank Vogel, his debut as a Lakers head coach.
What are we gonna see out of him? This is a guy who had a ton of success with the Indiana Pacers.
He used Roy Hibbert's verticality verticality brilliantly.
Is that what we're going to see? Are we going to see a defense? Is defensive oriented team because that's what the word has been coming out of training camp.
But then he's also talked about how he is revamped his offense, how he has modernized his offense to the to the current n b A, and I'd like to see what that looks like.
What does that mean? Does that mean we're going to see a lot more outside in play with the three point shooters the Lakers have acquired opening up the floor? Hopefully, it does.
Or are we going to see him go back and lean on somatic, antiquated sets? Is that going to happen here? I'm really curious to see what Vogel's lineups look like.
What his rotations look like.
Luke Walton took a ton of flak last season for his rotations.
Vogel has already said some good things about potentially splitting up Rondo and LeBron, which to me makes a lot of sense.
He's also talked a little bit about just managing minutes for players.
So what's that like? He's Ah, he's talked about making sure that one of e.
D and LeBron is always on the floor.
No, no, I don't want to see that happen during preseason, but still what? How does that work out? Something we're going to get some early hints of here in pre season.
So keep an eye on Vogel and how he rotates players in and out.
I don't expect preseason game three to look like preseason Game one.
I'm sure he's gonna make adjustments as they go.
They're gonna experiment with different things.
But I want to see what Vogel eventually settles into for a rotation for this team.
And then how do you re integrate Kawakubo eventually into that? That's gonna be something.
Keep an eye on last, but not least, the one thing that you really want to see here is chemistry.
There's a lot of new faces here.
We're talking to Anthony Davis, Danny Green, Quinn Cook, Troy Daniels, Jared Dudley.
The list goes on.
You've got all these guys coming in Dwight Howard.
Go figure, right.
You've got all these new faces coming in that have to be integrated, plus a new coach and then you've got the holdovers from last year.
It's not easy to bring all those pieces together.
That takes time.
Jared Dudley at Media Day mentioned that it takes four months or so for a team to really develop chemistry on the offensive end.
So I want to see growth there.
I want to see how the Lakers develop chemistry as a team because that's gonna be critical.
We've talked about it a ton, but the Western Conference is loaded.
The Western Conference is gonna be unforgiving.
That means that the Lakers were gonna have to figure out a way to develop chemistry on the fly and get wins even when things aren't exactly clicking.
But they better figure it out fast.
So I really want to see improvements in chemistry from game to game.
I don't want to see a whole lot of miscues guys throwing passes when the player cuts, they think a player's gonna cut one way and cuts the other than past goes flying out of bounds.
That's just not having chemistry, Ms defensive rotations.
That's a chemistry thing I want to see.
I'm expecting a lot of it early on.
It's gonna be sloppy.
It's gonna be ugly.
But I want to see progression as the games go on.
I want to see things get tightened up.
So that's gonna be really important to watch for as well.
