I'll let you live on the vivid seat studios and beautiful South Pasadena, California.
This is D N H Q three.
We have shells from a blue wall and this is the blue heaven podcast.
Dodgers Nation went through a couple coins in there were powered by the overtime podcast network.
And I It's your boy.
I'm real frg and call me Clint.
In real life, he could find me Israel FRG on Twitter and Instagram.
And that guy is not Brooke.
Who are you when his dog McCain host of the Dodge Ization postgame show filling in for Brooke today using his Cuzzi shot to Brooke? Think that Brooke represent here? Hey, we got a big, big show.
Blue heaven pocket.
I was listening to this last year.
Get ready for the postseason.
The September call ups.
You got a rookie and mi here represent your feelings for Brooke, But yeah, I called him up from what? Rancho are close enough Ogden Raptors baby all day.
Yeah, we do got a rather large show to go over.
Um, so this guy's gonna have some fun with it along the way, But we gotta sweep in San Diego.
How sweep it is.
Of course, uh, you and I are gonna do a bit of some playoff roster break down a little bit, because in the last episode, before we do this for real, one week from today, as if time were recording, it is time for, um, time for playoff baseball.
Real baseball is back in a week.
This is it, man.
This is the fall. This is playoff time.
You got pumps, get pumpkin spiced white seltzer.
I mean, this is the time to get it going.
I mean, you could just feel the playoff time is right around the corner.
And the great thing is clean Kershaw today? Yeah, it's well clean, Kershaw.
Third Charlotte goods.
We're gonna talk about Kershaw.
We're gonna talk about a lot of the injury problems boys they're having right now.
We're gonna make Cem Cem probably terrible awards predictions because, you know, there's three more games.
Is it before people can lock in all of their stuff.
So Cody better take off October competition.
We're gonna make fun of Bryce Harper a little bit.
And of course, there's gonna be more stuff we got.
We don't have any pictures, but we have to break down a few of those lovely costumes the boys wore out of out of San Diego.
But very importantly, we got to tell you the top of the show it to give a shout out to our friends.
You guys have to see that little bug. It's a sportscaster.
That's because sportscaster is our friend, their friend of the show.
And you could be a pro like them, like us, Like Doug.
Over here, go to sportscaster dot com that a c a s t r dot com and with built in studio graphics access to special events, it could look like a pro.
Like already said, Sound like a pro unless you hear buzz.
But, of course, do that after our stream and after the Eagles beat the Packers.
And don't forget, guys is a live stream were also recording during that point, Uh, live streamed to let us know where you guys were watching this tonight.
Hit us up in the comments with with where you're at, and we got Eddie over here on YouTube.
Eddie is saying he Kershaw's playoff ready, you know.
The Dodgers took three against a team they need to take three against.
So I guess that's the right.
But that's that's good.
So Kershaw broke a streak today, a good one good streak and then one pad streak.
So Well, I don't know how to call it bad.
I guess the bads broken streak is that he This will be the first year in 10 years that he will have an e r a over three, just barely toe to finish the season.
You you Ah, you care too much about that.
You think he cares too much about that? I'll think cares about that.
I mean, we're not gonna get 21 3177 e r A.
23 9 strikeout Kershaw.
But what he has to do is go in there.
And recently he can't stumble into the playoffs if you look at it.
He had last six starts field to complete, six innings twice of 5 to 4 e.
R. A. 13 home runs, giving a gift.
That's after being the model of consistency almost all season.
I think he had quality starts at least six innings in what first, like 20 some odd starts.
So he was good and then, Yeah.
I mean, it happens.
It definitely happens to everybody I know.
And the thing, too, is what Clayton Kershaw just comes down to.
We know the velocity is what it is.
Now we know he's relying more on that splatter on that cutter and just he's gonna miss you.
Middle middle, he asked him, is keep it down, Keep it away because looking another concern with Clayton Kershaw to Is that those first inning? Would you look at that first inning El Rey above five? It's almost, I think it's over six, and it's over 60.
Yeah, yeah, it's definitely been tough there, but it looks He looked good day today.
He checked off a lot of the boxes and get in this final tune up before playoff baseball in one week.
And we're looking at the way Dave lined up this roster, and this is getting a little ahead of ourselves.
We're on top of the NLDS roster, and you probably some of the the pitching probables for the 1st 3 games and then, you know, we got us a room, a suite because the boys are hurting.
They need to sweep over there But it was very important for Kershaw to get this start out of the way because like, you were saying he had been so bad over the last month or so.
But, ah, I don't know like this this he looks like he's gonna be the Game one starter.
I think he's earned that right to be the Game one starter.
The name on his back.
He's the picture of this generation a c The best picture on this Dodger team.
I think that's Ah, clear cut.
No, but you want to keep me at home, that your and his splits.
Actually, if you look at home in a way, they're actually better than bit, then re you and walking dealers.
But I think what? Clayton Kershaw, You start that.
You get a Game one win and you get his confidence up because, you know, last postseason he had eight scoreless in Atlanta, but he got roughed up in Milwaukee, the game one against Milwaukee.
I roughed up against Boston, so I think getting a good starting off the L.
D S on the right note and get him in there.
Get him on that playoff form.
I think it's really important.
So when it comes to come, what do you think? Do you think about about Clayton Kershaw right now is the standard way.
Didn't eat him roughed up like you got roughed up against Colorado.
Yeah, I would rather have saw that. Then.
Then, you know, in a week from now or at this point in a month from now, get it out of the way.
Get out of your system.
Figure out what's going wrong and how to come back from it when his slider look really good today.
And he's getting back to that point of of of, you know, shaping that slider a little bit better.
And we got some people here in the stream that kind of agreeing with it. We got Eddie.
Eddie is the first time on the show.
Eddie Ramirez over there on YouTube from Azusa, California I think there's, Ah, there's like roads out there and dirt that your boy p y que es is in the stream.
But what about P? Why has gone from Phoenix? We got China Grove, North Carolina.
We got 504 Nolan's Fredo in the stream.
I think I want about Kershaw to us.
It's gonna be good to see him get back to a normal schedule.
You look as last six starts.
One was on four days, whereas three wrong five days to on six days rest.
So you know, he's a creature of habit, you know, he's a stickler for his routine, so I want to see him get back.
Thio that playoff form where you can really come and execute his pitches because you know he cannot miss big.
Can't miss over the plate.
The margin for air for him is very low, so but we all want what we all want.
Clayton Kershaw have that signature star and have that signature postseason, so he needs it.
Needs that happen.
He's he's gotten a lot more flak than he should for that for his postseason.
We've got got over it more than enough times, but when you called the goat and you're lumped in is being called the goat of your generation for a position and all that, like you have to have, you know, pocketed a ring or two.
I feel, um, but you know, everyone's to jump on the bad starts.
He's nine and 10 with a 432 E R A.
And 30 postseason games his postseason.
His postseason would have been, well, document, but that narrative would change on a dime if you were to get that big signature start.
But my concern, of course, of is the home run balls, the home run ball and the n word.
Like 30 years of their 30 home run.
I think it's like 30.
Yeah, it's a career high, right? Yeah, it's very up there, but yeah, again, we got that.
The Kershaw looks good, lining up to be the first guy I mean stream you.
You guys have to let us know what you think about Kershaw.
Is your number one starter eyes getting paid a lot, A lot of money to start games in October? Pretty much.
And you hope this is the year? Um, I think the most important thing out of San Diego was all the costumes the players were wearing that that was pretty fire.
Those were great.
Doesn't May was on point yet former Dodger Manny Machado, wearing a clown costume, but I think they said it was a Padres UFO.
I love that and I drop that in there.
His friend of the stream is in here. We have.
You know, the guy who was talking to many that Yeah.
I bet you my contract.
That's what Manny your team is.
Yeah, What a difference a year makes.
Now he can't be stepping on anybody's feet over there in, uh, well, wherever the hell we end up.
Because I've got some interesting looking competition coming up.
But that thing about May Machado Jimmy, if you look at this year first last year, bring Corey Seager.
Who? Corey Seager.
You get fried egg on? Amanda is super hot Sin made out of glass. I agree.
And yeah, we got to keep him healthy.
But six home runs in September, I believe.
And and Corey Seager, if you look out into the doubles, were placed May Machado with that Corey Seager, all those doubles and then he, of course, leads the league in double play.
So I'm definitely much more content Had and Corey Seager as opposed to Manny Machado.
Um but yeah, getting this team firing on all cylinders.
They're not scorching hot, like the brewers per se or the nationals going into the postseason, but very when it would look like they were gonna limp into a 14 and six record seven of their last 10 games.
So where eight of their last 10 after today.
So they're definitely getting And that doing that to wow resting guys while auditioning guys getting rich hill back.
Seeing what? Yeah, what they had, like, think of 700 month or something like that or 600 month while there.
Just playing around with the roster.
It's pretty crazy how good this team really is.
But I I see we got we got a J for end of the show, eh, Jenkins? All J j and guitar in the stream talking about the, uh, the players playing dress up.
I don't know if you happen to see it, but, uh, Hall of Fame broadcaster Hi.
May have seen dressed up as Mike Burrito.
You have the gun? The panama hat.
He had the pain.
He had the mustache.
He had the cigar.
Everything was just like, just on point.
That costume is cash money.
I know you probably haven't had a chance cause you're driving over here.
She didn't get a chance to see all of them.
It's been a busy day for me.
I didn't get a chance to see all of them.
But, like just kind of perusing, I did see Stripling and Gonsouland teaming up on the Forrest Gump ensembles like the the ensemble cast there.
That was just legendary.
Just linking up, man, that I love that that we're gonna have to.
I think Ross is supposed to be visiting us next week, so I have through the duds again.
But that was that was fantastic.
Anyway, it's like a J.
And is it, jock that USC vers Notre Dame? That that's a nice no no, those in public.
That was, uh, think Justin Turner was in there, but I went to Notre Dame.
I would assume it was him.
Yeah, well, turns the other guy.
I got you again Red.
That's why they're all wearing their numbers.
But yeah, they look they look fantastic, but, ah, last time we're gonna be in San Diego this season, so it's good, but yeah, it was a buddy costume thing Is Jose Rodrigues o r Jose Rato five on periscope, but points out, but check it all out.
So I saw that scene sues uni.
Whatever she pulled out, I told her to dress up as our friend of the show.
I think Eric, I think she was like Harry Potter.
Remember, you have a camera? Oh, there's my camera.
I think he was dressed up as a Harry Potter or a member of Griffin Door.
I think that was that was wrong.
I didn't push that sound effect.
There was a good drop right there.
So I think the other most important thing and you guys agree with me or disagree with me if you feel like it.
But I think the most important thing to come out of San Diego, besides the costumes besides Kershaw having a good outing there, Dustin May.
It looks and feels to me like he's moving up in the rankings there.
Nine scoreless innings since getting drilled in the head.
I don't know if, uh, something got knocked in the right position.
I don't know if it's just good luck and getting used.
Thio, now throwing out of the bullpen, but ah, first time in his career, throwing back to back relief outings and he looked good.
How much should we read into this? What do you Ah, Do you feel that this means for his his postseason stock won him.
Is penny wise in the costume That's at the top there.
So that helps his case there.
But also, I just think that, like you said since he got hit in the head, it was almost like it cleared his conscience.
He was looked like he was overthinking out there and we don't see many eight scoreless inning streak out of the bullpen.
Oh, it's a nine out, so nobody pitch.
You bitch, You bitch, I'll drive in there.
My Tuna was going out, but well, yeah, but I think the thing with Dustin Maker is he has a potential world Class A lead splitter with 98 99 4 consecutive pitches in yesterday's game, 99 or higher.
So without adrenaline in the postseason, you know he's gonna turn it on and there's never a right time.
Sometimes you throw guys in the postseason Madison, Bumgarner, Lackey.
I mean, does it matter what age are you gonna blossom, Kristen By by fire? I'm a big believer in dust in May.
And because to me I think that you always veer on the side of talent.
And he has that in spades.
Yes, he's 21 and just the ways locating that stuff.
If he sees another guy to You can't miss high like he was When his commands off, he's a little high, but when he keeps it low, he keeps it down.
Induces that soft contact.
And, you know, if we make it deep and we play the Yankees, the Astros Twins, 80 all the pretty CVS feel like everyone can slug it. Except the Cardinals.
They're like 24 home runs, but it's almost like the balls were juiced butt and it could be slicker for the postseason.
So yeah, but I I know that I know that it's, Ah, it's gonna be a tough call.
He's kind of at the end there, but I think that Dustin Maker is making a really late run at it.
I think you really gotta go consider him for the Posies, and then also you throw him in that division around, see how he fares, and if he's comfortable, you can handle the moment and then he could be a real asset in the NLCS and potential world Siris.
Yeah, I think it's hit.
Ah ah bit of ah ah! I wouldn't call it a paradigm shift.
It's hit a shift in the original plan.
I think the plan with May with the May was to be like that.
That 3rd 4th 5th inning guy that would go get you two or three innings.
Now you're seeing him to throw some locked down eighth, and he's He's really becoming what this team has lacked for awhile.
And of course, we went out and signed Joe Kelly this offseason to be that guy that locked down, set out setup guy.
But you still don't know how much you trust him.
After being on fire for the better part of the summer, he struggled, and now all of a sudden, he's m I A with whole body hurting her.
He's got body ideas, got bone itis, but Westie Dodger Tim was over there.
He lives in San Diego s, the Dodger being San Diego, and he was at the game.
He did see Dustin May yesterday.
He said he looked awesome from his view last night.
I'm sure he had the hair flowing for sure.
Um, and he says he's adjusted, is just letting it all hang out in relief, which is a great point.
That's it. That's another huge thing for D.
May. He's not trying to nibble.
He's not trying to, you know, pinpointed whenever he's just let it out and you can get away with that, wouldn't you? Through the hardest pitch and you're talking about all those balls being over 99.
That's on the TV clock or on the TV burrito radar.
Yeah, on TV burrito over there, it's clocked up a little bit, but officially, I think it was measured as his high.
A few of them were measured, and his highest pitch is, Ah, Pitch V low in the bigs with 98.
8 miles per hour, which passes the sniff test for me.
If you can get your car impounded, you pulled over going the speed that you're throwing them.
I'm pretty okay with that.
Ah, but with that, you know, we're talking about a huge set of potential.
He's playing a big part are he's proving a big part, potentially for for October now, when you weren't sure if it was gonna be him or Gonsouland Now, to the point where they both need to be on.
And so I'm unsure we had ah, Bret Tom Co in this week.
If you guys haven't checked out.
Episode 79 of Blue Heaven is a great time.
Former Dodger legend Brett Sanko, which he he got he got a kick out of And he also yelled at me a little bit for yelling at him and booing at him back in the olden times.
I know Gary enjoying that from reminding him that he never hit a home run in this career.
Also, that I did.
Hey, I hurt his feelings.
He hurt my feelings.
So we're all good? Yeah, that evens evens the score.
But a friend of the show and he, uh, he's gonna be out at our upcoming party that we're gonna tell you about real soon.
We should be out.
But now he mentioned Brett mentioned.
And Brett, you know, is friends with Dave Roberts so that I know they talk.
But he said that the doctor's plan on carrying 13 pitchers when historically it feels like they don't carry 13 pitchers and anybody out there.
I'll check it out.
Team, if you've heard otherwise, let me know.
But it feels like this team is probably better built for 12 pictures with the amount of bodies you need tohave on and around the roster.
But if you if you go with 13 you kind of solve a lot of headaches.
And, um so with that And that's also based on the health of rich, illiterate children of the night.
It looked really good.
He looked really damn good after looking really bad and like, Oh, man, is this it? Yeah, and all of a sudden he just pulls it out of his A There There's the mountain.
No, I felt like it really gonna like the McGeer hour and 30 minutes into a Disney movie with ritual, the way he just could not plant that leg.
And when he did it feel like he stepped on a Lego right? Like I was walking back and forth and really awkward, but but that But you still saw the break on that curveball, and it could be an asset to the fact that his arm is gonna be fresh, that he hasn't been worked as much as he hasn't use him as a locker room president's him on this team.
I don't like the way he's traveling with the team, but it's a different thing when you're competing with boys.
Contributor is definitely huge.
And Tim Tim, thank you have t o S t Dodger Tim for pointing out.
The Dodgers have never carried 13 in the the postseason playoffs at least recent vintage.
But, yeah, I think I think they carried 12 pictures six out of seven times under with Dave Roberts so they don't want with 11 against Chicago, I think in 26 26 years, 2017.
But it would have been 16.
Yeah, and then when Corey Corey Seager had that injury, so But I think I think that you got you got a stockpile as much talent as you can the bullpen, because you see the team's gonna be facing, I think, with also TV look att.
When the Dodgers didn't make a big trade for a closer, they didn't get sleep.
A Vasquez, which is the greatest thing ever.
Guys grosses hell, but but denied bail today or yesterday, whatever it was.
So when you almost had the dust and may announcement shortly thereafter.
So it almost felt like that was a contingency plan.
A lot of Dodger fans were disappointed the time, and then they announced dust in May.
And then we actually went to that game.
We saw his opening game, and so I hair.
The hair flow happened. Yeah, totally.
He came out and relieved he was only 20.
So it doesn't make it supposed to be that guy in the future.
You're never ready.
You're never ready for the postseason.
And I think you just you let him fly and you see we get out of him because this stuff is that potentially elite.
So again, anytime you could pull 98 99 out of nowhere, that's that's fine.
And with Rich Hill looking healthy now, all of a sudden, you can, you know, you might have relied on D made to be that that 4th 5th inning, six inning guy.
But now, as you coin him, D mania can happen.
In that seventh or eighth inning, you have Pedro Baez pitching 6/5 7th inning.
Whatever it is, you have more versatility, and we just put out the post today.
I think it was about this being on dodgers nation dot com, of course, but this being by far maybe not by far, but definitely the best.
Ah, better I should say, better bullpen than it was last season.
Yeah, by leaps and bounds.
You look at last season, Dylan Flora was getting meaningful innings in the world.
Siris Dylan Floro, who is getting him? Um, you have someone like Ryan Mattson somehow creeping his way onto the roster through grit and whatever moxie and whatever the hell else were you wanna throw out There is an old school now, Descriptor shouldn't have been there.
He had an e r a with the Dodgers over nine, and somehow he made it because he had a good lifetime against Washington and it played up or whatever the hell it was, um, that we played in the first round that I forget because I try to remember, forget about bad things, But anyway, like all out, when I do the same thing, nobody.
He pitch well against the against the Braves, and that's great.
But yeah, he came in relief against against Boston.
Kind of looks like Dan Patrick little bit don't you think Maybe, you know, you talk about the only comments below the surplus of talent in this year's bullpen, to me is the major difference.
I mean, look at last year, your trot out, guys like like, really stopgap guys in Orion Mattson.
This year, the talent level has has increased tenfold, with guys like Joe Kelly, Pedro Baez and then Julio Urias.
There, you see what they're doing him pitch him on back to back nights.
You know that they have plans to have him for 34 I mean, three innings minimum, really, to me or even enclosing situations.
But if you look at last year's team, yeah, you're going.
Dylan Floro, Scott, Alexander.
You know, guys that really our bullpen was what it was last year.
We wouldn't stand a chance right now, especially.
But in one replacement here, I want to argue a bit with we got We got cyberpunk on YouTube here.
What up cyberpunk saying Kel, Eric and Sadler not lights out type of bullpen.
No, they're not.
And Sadler doesn't make this roster a probably kind of earned it, but he's one of those scrapheap guys.
We all the guys, your time, but those were all scrap heap guys.
Kel Eric, on the other hand, has in his role been exceptional.
If you you know I don't have all the numbers in front of me.
But if you look at trade deadline should like, you know, moves, roster moves, players going places clerics up there in the top five of successful moves for filling a role that they needed to do.
It's probably like Greinke and Castano center up there at the top.
But Adam Cole Eric filled a role that that the Dodgers desperately needed.
It wasn't going to be Caleb Ferguson in Ferguson sniffs.
Any playoff roster, something bad happened.
This is not his year, but again.
Caleb Fergus wasn't the guy who was getting meaningful innings in the championship series.
And then, you know, he did get dumped.
Um, I think I think they old yeller, Scott Alexander somewhere.
But ah, a lot better.
You feel a lot better and then to throw in the rooks of Gonsouland with that that disgusting change, our split change, and then may whatever the hell he's gonna throw at you, it's gonna hurt.
I feel very confident any of you.
Look at Clarion.
He was that guy.
I do the postgame show, Of course. Never heard of it.
Tuesdays and Sundays.
But we got Remember? I remember when we got Kel Eric.
There was some guy I forgot who was in the conservation strips.
At who? The in all caps.
Who the f is Kal Eric, Doug.
Just like we all felt the same way.
I couldn't write his name for the first, Like cake and 1/2.
Uh, who is this person? And that's hard when you're heading for her website.
I thought it was a medical procedure.
Had to be giving away free, But I'm undergoing caloric color.
I have cleric providing caloric value, But if you look at last 30 games a sub 300.
8 point 79 e r A.
In 25 games, 11 3rd innings pitched, nine hits, one earned run, two walks.
If you look at him to whip bloat, someone whip to window and he just he could be that That lefty that looky there that could come out for the Dodgers and the daughters need guys like That's true.
Looky true, Lucia.
Yeah, true, Louis and the Dodgers need stuff like that.
People's car speakers.
You got to give you Andrew Freeman and company and the scouting department.
A lot of credit, because he was he was He was not getting a lot of work in Tampa Bay.
We know how stock that that bullpen is when you bring a guy from one of the best the best bullpen really in major league baseball, you know, you're gonna get quality out of that.
And he's provided that my my were with with Adam.
Erica's is how is how is your performance? Postseason.
But I like what I've seen so far and definite.
Looks like he's gonna be a part of the playoff roster.
I apologize to some people in the stream here.
We got Franklin.
I think I think there's more, but lights out, lights out.
Russell Martin, my bat.
We did not bring up Russell Martin for the bullpen.
Disrespect Israel because that guy has been a revelation on.
I think I didn't I ask Brett about that? Yeah.
Yeah, that is he was never gonna be It would be a really good time.
Yeah, that's pretty much it I avoid talking about.
I don't other teams to watch the our post game show.
He's the expected, its ultimate ace up our sleeve.
So best whip on Laurel and Orlando deal.
We talked about it yesterday about how you know the future of pitching in the majors is gonna be pictures who play different positions. Yeah.
Okay, so he could be the start, You know? He is the person at now, what, 37 years old, I think next season.
13 more. You know, I was on that 2018.
Ritchie asked, Why are where your caps backwards backwards? We're fresh to death.
Richard? Yeah. There's a lighter you want forward with C.
Then I could thank you properly.
Shout out my fancy hat here from, uh, sent to me from our friends over there.
You guys probably have a Dodger hat on, but actually, he's cheating over here.
It's his cubs and Blue Jays B is for Cub.
Got Brooklyn, baby, by the way, go to dodgers nation dot com.
Raised the most important one.
Especially this time of year.
It's it's ah, enough about 88.
The time is now, and this is this is definitely the year.
Uh, Cyberpunk agrees about May throw a nasty pitches.
Fredo says Kel Eric defender for the kinks.
That's Ah, no isn't over me, dog.
Uh, thank you, Jess.
Just more friend of the stream Points out that my eagles scored another six points.
So fly eagles fly.
Thank you very much.
And it's 27 20. Cool.
Ah, Cyberpunk wants to see the Astros lose for once, eh? So we'll get a head into some of that real soon, but, uh, this is a very good question right here, Frankie Zambrano.
Because that this was, ah, big question for me.
So we have either 13 or 12 pictures, but there's only 25 guys you can carry.
Uh, I feel like a lot of us, especially me.
But most people have looked at Matt Baby and have said this dude is guaranteed roster spot.
However, somebody that wasn't even supposed to be playing in September has really, really opened my eyes.
So Frankie asked his Edwin Rios make the NLDS.
You look at the numbers and we I kind of yuck it up with with a lot of the lot of the folks over here.
A d n today is having a again very small sample size, but he's having a very, very good year.
He's hitting 2 95 His his waited ones weighted runs created plus is what I think.
1 75 Which is good for people who don't fully understand the advanced analytics.
On the other hand, Matt baby friend of the show, We love you, Matt, but you know, he's had a struggle.
Bus of September.
I think he's getting 1 95 this month or something like that.
After whatever happened today, I don't think he got on base.
Um, either of you guys, Do you have an opinion here or anybody in the stream? Uh, it's really come down.
Do you want on Lefty with with Power or Lefty? That might give you a better at bat off the bench, so I'm looking over to them.
But, uh, baby, I mean, you gotta consider it Max Muncy having his injuries and then moving baby around long all over the place in the beginning a month, so I don't think he's getting that consistency right there.
Plus, it's unfair to compare him to Ryuzo cause Rios gets put in that really his best opportunity.
Yeah, he put in more bailouts for sure. Exactly.
So I I don't know if it's a fair comparison.
You can't deny babies like being clutch.
He carried us, you know, not carried us.
But he was very important o most of the season.
I mean, I just feel he deserves He deserves to be on the playoff roster.
No, I feel he does.
And that's why we should just have a bigger playoff roster.
Let's go to spring 26.
Good dude, Who's gonna say no Heidemann bags? Yeah, stop.
I think that it's a very compelling take so late in the season to have been coming on so late and then Matt Baby struggling so much as we approach the postseason.
But I think Matt Baby along this year, he's really earned his stripes.
He was one of the first guys to come up.
He got his first hit against the Giants.
Friend of the show to that should push him over the top.
But I think with that baby too, like like Gary mentioned his his clutching with runners in scoring position.
I think they're gonna end up platooning him with David.
Freeze potentially when, uh, hit the political turning him.
But the thing with Kevin Rios is you're getting in a potentially majestic home run swing.
4 73 last night, a majestic shot.
And I also think, too, depending on the injury of Justin Turner, he can play third.
So that's another thing, too.
With with Rio still.
Yeah, well, you don't You probably don't want him at third.
If anything, you're going to see Key K O.
Three getting some three b before before you see before you see him.
There are even David Freese.
Taylor was struggling that third, like with the last week. I know he's good.
He's great, you know? But I'm just saying that Oh, yeah.
You get that bruise.
I took a line drive out the shin last night, all because of Brooke not being there for me when you asked me to work anyway, moving on.
But I think you still mad, baby.
And we've seen so many times If you look at the light if you look at his advanced stats of gain.
The bat on the ball in the zone.
I think that Edwin Rios against postseason pitching you're facing elite pitching tougher at bats is gonna probably hit him low.
In a way, I think, though, I just think that I just trust Matt Bai like Gary mention to his positional versatility.
You don't need that as much.
ATTN This point of the season in postseason, but it does play up.
I will agree, especially with the team hurting.
As much of you could have it, Where CTR, where J.
T and Sieger go down in the same game or something like that.
And then all of a sudden your depth of stretched very thin also is a pinch hit. I was pitching.
Stats are pretty impressive, too.
Pinch hitting and clutch situation.
I'm just saying that his numbers are down because they had to move around while months he was injured and we saw what happens with with players like with jock when they moved him back and forth between president right field. Yeah.
Hey, baby was at his finest.
I think he hit when he was having that long stretch playing left field.
Well, Terry theater down period of Jock Peterson trying to play first.
He I think he batted, like three or four or something like that.
That was his finest point.
So he does that.
The consistency does, um, help with the bat, for sure.
I can't agree to that.
I'm really surprised.
I almost want to skip the spoon.
But Eddie Ramirez and Stream, I don't want Todo says I would love Austin Barnes and replaced Lux at second base.
Who heard you, Eddie? So when Austin Barnes homies from high school or something? Yeah, it Barney might be Austin Barnes.
Barnes can play different positions.
He does have some versatility in the same regard.
So can Russell Martin.
So can Will Smith.
Will Smith played, has played a lot of third base in the minor leagues, but, um, no, that's a no for me dog.
I just can't see Austin Bart.
He's picked up seven at bats Since July 24th.
Barnes has been doing a great job in the dugout, sitting in front of Clayton Kershaw, listening to jokes and laughing along.
He's done out there that no question about it seems like it.
I didn't do any bills.
I would I wouldn't mind having that job, but awesome.
I mean, he's not even close to the Mendoza line in his last 30 games, and I think I never look.
I'm not here for Austin Barn slander.
I did it for basically six months in the postgame show, but I do think we never would imagine he'd be the end of being the catcher in the World Series last year, when Grondahl struggled so mildly.
So I guess it's we should write.
We should keep him, keep them, keep them warm.
But I think that you want to go with with Ross tomorrow and then hopefully will Smith starts to turn around.
You start to see signs of Will Smith.
I have high hopes that he's gonna be one of the big X factors in this postseason.
So so some more questions here.
I like Sam, Sam, we have Samuel.
That's a good question about how we feel about Twins Dodgers World Series.
We're gonna get to that and a bit because that is a very good question, but we can have some stuff stuff prepped of its net prep, but plan a little bit later.
I want to get through this this roster stuff Thio first and right over on YouTube is saying as asking, Should Kenley be our guy in the ninth inning? Oh, and a stripling get bumped off Stripling before what was at Wednesday's outing was doing very well.
He had a 0.9 e r a.
In the month of September, Dave Roberts admitted to putting him in a bad situation, and he wasn't ready for strip was just plainly not ready.
He's off, plus, Yeah, And he was probably getting ready, you know, getting this costume ready for today because, you know, he played a damn fine Forrest Gump.
I think you can focus on pitching instead of his stocks.
His podcast, I think it may be, would improve.
But no, I think that Ross Stripling I didn't say that.
Ross, No roster. Blaine.
I was here that down him know you.
But what? Ross Ross, the boss.
I mean, sometimes Ross driven something, you know, roster blink first, boss tripling.
But I think that I think for to me I kind of find strange that that he got the ringing endorsement from Dave Roberts and beyond that playoff roster so early, While the rest of these guys are auditioning, it's L.
Everyone's on tradition, right? But everyone's auditioning for the for the postseason.
But I think that if when he throws that curveball for strikes, it has such a deep break to it.
I think that he's also a guy that he didn't.
He didn't pitch last year, but in the postseason.
But in 2017 in the first half last year, he showed signs.
I still think it's a guy that that I would like to have on that in that bullpen somewhere for sure.
Especially if if Rich Hill is gonna get that that Game four opener spot.
It was not a start.
If you're not going like 345 innings, but he does that, then you need those those added arms.
You need the extended arms like gone slim like aureus like Ross Stripling, and that's gonna play up huge for this bullpen.
That there's so much length is where that was a problem last year, and we know how Dave likes to manage his starters in the world.
It's or in the post season, It's a bit of Ah, struggle bus.
So yeah, having those guys like that And I think Ross was a huge loss last season.
Yeah, he would have been good. Good.
Ross Stripling would have been good, but, you know, he admitted it even minute here, you know, he was gassed.
He wasn't ready Thio pitch at that point.
And smartly, they did leave him off the roster.
But, um, do you guys get the feeling that the Dodgers learn from Boston last year? Ah, just putting the starters into the bullpen and, you know, trying to set it down that way. I mean, two years.
I mean, he used to, and we didn't We never did it.
We got screwed last couple years with that.
So with that kind of approach, so I don't know, I want to see what you guys thought about.
Maybe that's what they're doing is stocking up starters.
Thio do the bullpen stuff.
I don't think it was intentional.
It was one of those things where that's those were the bodies they had.
They brought up rookies that were starters because you really don't draft in groom relievers, you relievers Air failed starters? Yes, also Exactly.
L a, um, a hat tip.
They're gonna But, uh, yeah, it was I think it was more of just, um I guess I'm going with victim of circumstance, but a positive victim service.
It was we we lucked into It wasn't intentional, is what I'm trying to get.
Those were the words I'm tryingto mouth.
No, I definitely think that the dodgers have taken notes.
I mean, if you lose from a team that lose to a team, especially as badly as they Lots of that Red Sox team were felt like they were just out match from a talent point point of view.
And the Red Sox really create the way they used it.
By the way, they use Chris Sale the way they used David Price.
And they were mixing things up.
They weren't beholden to Craig Kimbrel.
They wanted it to be a straight wanted.
It was their approach.
And I think that I think there's no question about that.
One thing you can extract from these World Series loss.
At least you would hope Thio is that they find Amore innovative approach and having guys like Ross Stripling, Gonsouland, Decimate and Hope and Potentially Rich Hill Catch my ADA.
Who pitched well today. Kenta Maeda.
I could even see closing a game a game or two.
She did, which he did on uh today, which is Thursday.
Um, some of the roster is kind of gonna figure itself out because there are injuries, their injuries happening.
Yeah, Dad, is it really? You don't want to see this this close toe, the postseason play, but months he still looks injured to me.
I don't care what anybody says.
I don't care that he's in there.
The numbers will tell.
You think he's batting like 1 94 under? He's batting around or under 200 since the broken wrist.
It looks to me like he's he's firing before really processing the pitch.
He's trying to get out in front of it because you know him being it's his right hand.
He's a left handed batter.
That's his lead hand.
And you know there's a good torque. There's a good strain.
If you're tryingto start your swing later and and you know, drive and go the opposite way, which when he's right, you know he'll he'll do that a little bit more.
He I think he I mean, he has to be somewhere near the team, lead an opposite field, home runs.
But he doesn't look right to me.
Yeah, Maximus, he does not look right at all.
It just see him to use another guy to.
Last year, he started tentative the Dodgers 16 postseason games, and I was hoping with that position versatility that he's shown us this year.
I want to see him in each and every game because of the power he provides is a guy that come up in clutch situations in the postseason.
But, yeah, you're totally right.
He does not look like he's 100%.
I mean, no one's 100% this time of year, but he looks like it's affecting his swing, and it's affecting his approach at the plate.
And, yeah, I think that to definitely a major concern.
If you're the Dodgers right now in Max Muncy, Absolutely.
And it looks like I think the Yankees just lost another.
I think they got swept by by the Rays or something like that.
So that's funny, huh? Helping on the home field advantage side, but Dodgers are currently a game and 1/2.
Just because that happened come up right now, I'm bringing that up before we get back in the Muncie.
But we're really back in injuries game and 1/2 behind Houston.
They have a full game lead over New York at the moment.
I think New York has no, they won't have any more games off.
So anyway, uh, Joe Kelly, there's another guy.
I mean, this could be one of those situations where now Dustin May needs to be that setup guy, because all of a sudden Joe Kelly has has his magical mystery injury.
Uh, I don't know what it is.
They don't seem to want to tell us what it is, and I mean, granted, the Dodgers have never been overly full disclosure about this kind of stuff, but plain and simple after being what electric for the better part of 33 and 1/2 months, all of a sudden he had given up five earned runs over his last five and 1/3 innings pitch and now hasn't pitching over a week.
Is this something they keep saying If it was the playoffs, he'd be pitching.
Yeah, and you know, the dogs that pitch him.
He's not before the postseason starts, especially, I want to see him this weekend in San Francisco.
The big concerns me.
Yes, the doctors have been very cryptic, very vague about what, specifically this injury is what even Joe Kelly saying, I can't explain it.
I'm like, Where does it hurt my man? Like, Have you not heard of ibuprofen? Yeah, load up on some Advil, I get a leave or something, but that's definitely concerned.
If it is it a bigger issue.
Is it an illness or something like that? Because when you hear a king, you must think sometime of illness versus, you know, anything, leaving or bone bone related.
So definitely concerned.
The Dodgers look, He was the big offseason acquisition.
It shelled out 25 million they want or the monk.
And he struggled late last year to his e.
Was over eight in the last month of the season as the Red Sox went into the playoffs and he caught fire was blistering hot and 11 scored.
And and that's why I mean the audition for the Dodgers Dodgers saw firsthand, and I think that it's a major part of this potential when we need Joe Kelly back.
And it's just crazy if you fall this entire season.
Just the roller coaster that's been his season from May, when he couldn't get a guy out, he had zero command and Vani started.
Put it all together.
But he's another guy, and that's the thing to Is that another example? We know this franchise they bought.
They've died the spin rate.
They value his V Lo and we definitely need Joe Kelly.
It's really and inopportune time to see him going, facing an egg.
It's just one more information.
I have a very strange bizarre to me.
Yeah, they normally give you something a little more than whatever.
His body's just hurting like so is mine.
Yeah, took a line drive with shame yesterday. Come on now.
Yeah, Granted, his instincts should fit different, But I digress.
Another guy who isn't playing very much Justin Turner Man.
Eight games total in September.
He's hitting 1 85 in those games.
Now what they say it is, it's the back.
He tweaked his back in Ah Ah, and batting practise yesterday or something like that is, unfortunately, J t like all of a sudden getting old right in front of our eyes.
Aye, he's starting age like milk, right? But I still believe in Justin Turner.
I still think that it's a combination of another.
Another example, that they've been very vague about his injuries and in the in the past.
But look, Hey, last year in the world, Siris, basically David Freeze and Justin Turner they were hitting.
He hit like 3 33 against the Red Sox, and you know the average is and wins versus losses when Ginger Jesus is in the line of versus one is not, and to me, if he's getting additional rest.
But you want to get that timing back things like two for two for eight, since he since that since that injury.
And then he was out.
So it's a definitely definitely a major concern.
Just goes to show that hey, you can't You can't account for these potential injuries in there, but they definitely Justin turned to me is the glue of this team.
Offensively, there's no question about it, but they need to get him healthy.
I think they got a break out the needles for these guys.
But they're gonna be in the in that division around in that. Analysts.
We don't have a chance, you know, and we're looking at the infield here.
You know, J T isn't doing good months.
He still has probably a partially fractured wrists, and I can't imagine that swinging and hitting baseballs, helping it all that much.
And now you got Cory Glass.
Seeger, who comes from winning Player of the Week in the National League thio the hamstrings, barking again that cost him a month plus or whatever it was in ah, in the month of June.
That is another huge concern.
They're saying on every one of these Davis saying There's nothing to be concerned about If there was a post season, they'd be playing.
And I understand we have time.
We even had saw someone mentioned in the stream Pat Pat Dwyer from the show, saying they have a whole week to get some of these guys healthier, which is 100% true.
These games don't mean anything.
And Dave Roberts, Russell Martin's When I I read and we had a post about that on our Dodgers nation dot com.
They really aren't playing for home field advantage.
It doesn't mean that much.
They're more interested in getting healthier.
And while they're trying to get healthier, it feels like they're honestly just getting hurt more.
Which, uh, he is not ideal for this time of Sichuan time of year.
But is Cory find? Somebody tell me it's horrifying, Like I know he's fine, like that boy is hot, but I'm saying he's a He's a very He's a looker is a stunning boy, but, uh, again problems is there definitely problems? But one problem you won't have is, ah, saving money this this October cause using the vivid seats mobile applicants $800 in all, ticket purchased his first time customers openly.
But you're not gonna want to get tickets for Game three of the National League Division series because we're gonna be having a postseason party.
Guys, we mentioned it last week.
Now the details are a lot more firm.
Sunday, October 6, Dodgers.
You could be on the road and you can make it a home game with us Dodgers nation gonna be at clear Men's Galleon San Gabriel we're gonna have.
Prettied up a cyber flyer thrown out there real soon enough.
But you're gonna be there, right? You better be there.
Because we were We were gonna have nowhere to be.
But here, we're gonna have a pregame show live.
We're gonna have a postgame show live we're gonna have We're gonna be live streaming the entire event over there at the boat, as they call it, But it's gonna be a lot of fun.
We're gonna have way too much stuff to give away.
Already promised some friends of the show that I'm gonna rig some of the giveaways and give them all you know, some nice, good news. But we got shirts.
We got some stuff I'm getting Word I switch the camera.
Come get merged.
Company is not doing that.
No, But the court, the Corey Seager News is definitely alarming.
Last two weeks, slashing for 25 4 65 passing 11. 90.
And you saw in 2017.
That elbow kept him out of the series of Chicago.
He didn't look right.
He hit the home run in game two of the World Series.
But I thought that hey, That's Corey.
Seager has been the most consistent hitter for the Dodgers post All Star break.
You know a J. Pox had his mom's, too.
But what? Cory Siegel's what he's able to do when he gets those gaps.
He hits those doubles, and he just looked like he was starting to take the next step in his recovery process and just really feel for the kid.
Is this who he is? Is this an injury prone player? It's not gonna be able to stay healthy This year.
He's played 131 games, so that's evidence that that goes against saying his injury prone.
But it's just anytime you injured this time of year, it always feels like it is.
It's a simple thing.
There was a campaign back in back in my day when, when I was a youth, the campaign said, got milk.
All of a sudden, he's using something.
Look, hey, get the give you points on that, Charles.
The party is at the boat.
Clear Men's galleon San Gabriel.
We'll check it out.
It's gonna be on beyond our we're gonna put on the social media is right.
Yeah, Well, get it out there.
We're gonna put the peach again today with super busy.
Well, you get the page out, and then tomorrow just tweeted out to paint all the paintings you guys can see.
But that's gonna be one we're probably gonna have.
Ah, you know, hopefully have another one in the postseason, but again, this this party's gonna be off the cheesy.
The kids still say that it is a machine.
I just lost all of the patrons party, but we're gonna have guessed there.
I'm gonna try to force our friend record juicy.
If he's not working with Joe, I'm gonna try to force Rick out, and, um, then be our friend.
But, uh, Brett Tom co basically confirmed easing to be there.
And I think when we're here on this show, I don't cut that out, But, uh, it's gonna be fun.
We're gonna have a lot of fun.
Gary is gonna get really drunk and get really red.
Yes, really, really drunk.
We're gonna get loose, be yelling at people so and then I don't have anybody come by the table and try to steal shirt like they did last year.
Yeah, White girl wasted.
What even is that? You know? Okay, of course.
We still don't know who we're gonna be playing the wild card game.
I think the nationally wild card game is on Monday or whatever It's These two teams are on fire, so it's between Washington and Milwaukee.
And how the hell's Milwaukee? What? Like 13 and 1 14 15 and one without yell? Ich How is that possible? How is yellow to M v P candidate with his team going through? Can't win without him.
Ho gotta go tweet that it's a real broken.
It's a real mystery.
I really like that.
That's Ah, that's a fire.
Take therefrom, Mr Gary Lee.
But they look exceptional and and them having healthy pitching absolutely helps because they hate they were unhealthy for most of the season.
Of course, the Cubs just went straight to poop.
Yeah, you guys, it's almost like we dodged two bullets.
This this what, the middle of the season? Because obviously we have the the nightmare situation, if you will.
A little plan words, but Craig Kimbrel, Craig F Kimbrel really after the Cubs think he's He's as like what nine blown saves of his own.
In that around, he's been bad.
A's around nine.
Um, I was just world to the game in a green turtleneck on a Billy goat that he did the Cubs that dirty.
But look at it to.
Also, their schedule was pretty light down the stretch.
They play the Cubs, which you just said they fell apart the end of time with the Brewers and then the Marlins.
Yet they have the Bruins.
The Brewers play the Marlins, the Cards, the Reds, the Pirates, the Reds and the Rockies.
So that was the benefit.
And also there's they're they're pitching just really came around to Lyle's Anderson Davies Gonzalez that combined for a 222 e r a.
In 16 September starts.
So if you look at two and then also for whatever reason, they just come alive this time of year, they have a plus.
The there run differential leads all of the major baseball in in September of this year and last year combined, so they really just can't come alive.
They at this time last year, they usurped at the very end of the season, the Cubs and now they're right there on the hunt to do it again.
Thio to the other team that they're playing against the name of St Louis.
The Cardinals are right there, and the Brewers might somehow sneak in and win the NL Central.
That's a hot team, but we saw they were hot team last year and I mean, it took seven games with a much less good or Dodgers team.
And we were still were Mestre.
Yeah, we were Bester.
Now, if you look at it to seven, I mean, it's almost it's almost like they have to be reminded that that's the end of the season and they just they just get that extra Russian.
They just they want to be a part of it.
But you look at it to a 274 e r in September, at best, amazing baseball and then a 468 yard in their 1st 135 games.
So, yes, there, Ryan, the we're getting hot at the right time.
But at the end of the day, bottom line there without Christian Yelich in one year and that to me, and I like Gary, Gary mentioned their record without Christian Yelich.
Look when when Sometimes you have a big injury like that.
Everyone digs deeper in themselves.
And there's that, too, because they don't have him to rely on.
But bottom line, the Brewers game, a lot of credit, have won 18 of 20 games.
Something like that, and no one wants to play them.
And that's gonna be up to me is one of one of more exciting wild card games, and quite some time we're looking for that one.
You're gonna have what shares her and probably Woodruff.
I don't know who wait.
So who's the number one who's their best? I don't know.
Milwaukee's best pitcher is I know.
I think one of their guys got back from injury.
But, yeah, they're all over the place.
And they're probably not gonna best years there because the Nats have, you know, hot hitters like Bryce Harper.
Oh, wait, no, they don't.
God, I heard some Philly fans are some national fans were getting after.
All right, you know what? That's messed up the way that goes.
Course Bryce Harper wouldn't sign that huge as deal with Philly, and now he's Ah, he's playing golf early in October.
I think this is the first time in the first time in a good, good while for him that he's not playing October baseball.
But they didn't last last season.
But that's really, really funny that he's not making the world's they're not making the postseason and that his team was eliminated by his former team and then his former team the next day celebrated on his home field.
I think it was his are at Washington whichever way it was.
But no was at at at at Washington, Um, Where does calibers? Apparently, fans were big.
They crossed the line.
Fans were booing, booing here, like are there? They're calling out his his son that his newborn son and his wife and all that his wife took the social media to defend him and all that like, or something like that.
But that never ends.
Well, that's really stupid.
Come on, you get you get Boo the man.
Look, I boot, but I want my kids that boot.
But Brett Tom Co 12 13 years ago, you and yeah, I felt good about it.
Yeah, but, uh, now you don't bring it on, bring family into it.
No place for that there's no place for that and he's had a rough.
Here is a lot of pressure with that contract, but this goes to show when you winning the off season doesn't necessarily translate to postseason glory.
And everyone was clamoring for Bryce Harper myself included.
I thought that he might be a guy when you come coming off that world.
Siris was like, Could be anyone that is shown they can hit for power that he can hit and we But now he paved the way.
Now we'll get Rend own this offseason.
Not play, but thing too.
Yeah, like by Washington doesn't I mean we need at shutters.
Would love would be amazing to have Anthony random, But if washing doesn't re sign Anthony Rend own, they argue they have no idea what they're doing there.
You didn't spend that money on Harper.
Go spend it on your other franchise player.
Anyway, not to make this Ah, Washington Nationals round up.
But the choice is the options are It's either gonna be as of right now, Milwaukee or Washington.
Milwaukee is what a game behind St Louis right now.
So it could be one of St Louis or Washington happening, and the hell I mean, that would be an exceptional ah, wild card game as well, St Louis.
I'd rather I'd much rather see them in a long series.
St Louis against Washington.
That would be great.
But, um, that's that's gonna be exceptional.
Siri's and I really do hope that kind of flips.
But to me, they kind of remind us remind me of us last year.
You look at the way they started last year.
We start 16 of 26 this year.
Coming out the gates, they struggled.
They've been 69 38 for May.
Up until now that that's some serious Sears winning, and they started 19 of 31.
So to me, you almost see those Those comparisons with us last year they got it done late.
And there it doesn't even though you're making to the wild card, doesn't feel like they're back into the postseason.
They have momentum, but Max yours? There's been banged up with that nagging back injury, and if you look at it too yeah, I mean, they're team, of course.
Strasbourg early in the year when the Dodgers went to Washington.
He held the Dodgers toe one run in two hits and he pitched very well against them.
And then Corbin has a great history against the Dodgers as well.
So that's a team with their bullet, their bullpen.
I don't think they have the depth to really be a real threat to the Dodgers do.
Little has pretty much lost it.
I think he went down to the mines for a couple weeks to try to figure things out.
It's really the starting pitching that you have to worry about there, but we're not there yet.
We're gonna play whoever it is.
And I feel confident.
Even though I I I'm not a fan of the short, you know, the five game series.
There's a lot of concerns that happens with those.
But, um, it's either way you're gonna have some really, really fun.
Ah, wild card games.
You know, Oakland and Tampa, like you have the antithesis, right? They're happening at the top.
You have, you know, the Dodgers and the Yankees spending all this money or whatever.
You have Oakland and Tampa going for this wild card coming out of nowhere, not both 95 wins, so that's a lot of on Cleveland.
Looks like they're gonna get booted because they they kind of struggle they have.
You see Jose Ramirez coming back like super early from that hand injury.
That's nuts, but they is gonna be a lot of fun.
I really feel that New York and Houston need to play each other because I we need to play the Yankees in the World Series.
That would be a lot of fun.
I don't be great from baseball, me great for baseball.
But also, I don't think Dodgers Twitter can handle us playing Houston.
Because so many people on Doctor's Twitter, for some reason, our friends with, like, Houston and it's going to go bad again.
All of those relationships started out sour.
And then somehow, just like Stockholm syndrome, their way into our friends.
They are friends on Twitter.
Yeah, our topic number last year. Yeah.
Yeah. Plus, there are your friends. Only for me.
I just don't socialize with the end of the Dodgers.
Really need to win this World Series two because there's gonna be a lot of people that years.
Well, that's a about 88 times now.
Anyway, I think there's gonna be a lot more in fighting this off season if we don't win, too.
I mean, Thio love the Dodgers to be a fan.
The Dodgers, to me, is to have unconditional love for the Dodgers.
This is a team that has a 300 win per cent in the world.
Siris the Dodgers.
So it look, trust me, those if I believe Dodger Blue to the core.
But that's just the store with the diapers.
Before the Dodgers beat the Yankees in 1955 they had lost with them five times.
So, like Vince, Scully said, it never comes easy for the Dodgers.
So if you know your Dodge, if you know your Duke Snider, Jackie Robinson's Roy Campanella's Don New comes Muecke Anderson.
I made the last one up, but, um, but to know the Dodgers is Thio is to understand that looked at the seventies, we almost tasted a couple of times there.
To me, it's it's definitely a lot of wait till next year.
It's a lot of wait till next year.
We're supposed to be the years ago and here we know it's a year, Gary.
It's the year, the year, if can lead.
You're trying to make me say Kenley Jansen.
That is so we can talk Kennedy, but that you were almost We're already kind of late on time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But Kelly, the whole show himself.
Career save the number 300.
He had back to back save for the first time since May.
He look good looking.
I thought the pictures look good.
If you could do that again again.
But the whole thing about, like, situational bullpen or situational closing, that needs to happen.
That's just my opinion.
Or I'm gonna break my keyboard because every time tweeting the games and he's coming up.
Some some Kenley Jansen.
I'm with you, too.
You can't put him in situate.
The thing about about about Kenley Jansen is that before he blew that saving us the Astros, he hadn't blown to save in the postseason.
People want to say that they broke him or what? But look, he came back in game six of that same Siri's to get a clutch save.
And I think that to me we have to extract as many outs as we can from Kenley Jansen.
But there is no script anymore.
Is not a push bunt thing where you know that.
First of all, you're not gonna get six outs out of him.
Oh, and you're not going and you can't. You can't.
They got four outside of the next one.
He went and crapped all over.
My was yelling in the garage last year with you.
Just Julia, What are you doing? Just like, why are you bringing him in for that six out safe? Because we had Dylan floor.
Oh, right, yes, I lost my boys yelling that the encouraging thing to meet like he's a guy.
He's throwing the cutter 90% of time for the majority of his career.
That slider yesterday through it for a strike down the zone.
He's developed that slider a good amount over the last.
Ever since he stopped battling with his catchers and his coaches.
It's working for yeah, and he's gained 1/2 inch on that cutter in September.
So that's what you want to see.
That's the progress you wanted just walking away from it.
Yeah, that's what that's we want to see you, but to me about Kenley Jansen.
I want to come out, come out the girth.
I just good to me.
He's gonna put us all.
You know, we're all gonna have great hair.
We're all gonna is gonna put us through the wringer.
This this postseason, there's no question about it.
But to me, we should look at him as an asset.
As far as his ability to come in and get put him in situations where he can succeed, None of it almost feels like dot There's I'm a real believer in confirmation bias.
And when everyone wants to see him fail, or or when they want to confirm that that he's washed his gas or that game, our game to the World Series broke him.
And when they see it, evidence of it, they want to run with it.
But the reality is he still has above average stuff for a closer that when he's on and when he's putting situations where he can succeed, I still I still believe him.
Him and this is what he does, you know, to me, you know, he's dead to me if he screws up this time, but I don't think he'll finally won't get exclusively the ninth inning.
And I think that's the biggest thing.
I mean, I love you. Take.
I'm just saying that.
I think, uh, Kenley has gun taste of humility.
I think that's been his biggest problem the last couple years is that he's been.
He knows he's great.
We all know he's great.
We've seen how great he can be.
But I think the good thing that he he's experienced is that humility.
And now he's scared.
You know, even scared is good because you're gonna come up there and perform and do well when you're scared, because you're gonna focus and be there when the time's right.
Everybody's asking bottom night, too, you know, Two outs, Uh, Game seven.
Do you put him out there? And I have struggled watching Kenley the season, but I'll still put him out there just because he's the best guy most equipped, he knows what to pull out to to perform in that situation.
And you're mentioning earlier you mentioned earlier.
Did we learn from those world siris losses? And I think one thing you can learn from it is look, Boston realized they couldn't trust Kimbrel and the Astros realized they couldn't trust Giles.
So to me, he has to earn each and every outing.
And then also you got to ride the hot hand.
We'll see when we get to the postseason.
If aureus is lights out, you roll with Oreos.
If Kenta Maeda look can tomato, he's consistently hitting 94.
Out of the panic is getting first pitch strikes to me.
I don't think there needs to be a very rigid line up out there for this Dodger team.
It was in the passenger you want to criticize Dave Roberts.
Are people criticize him? That's computers.
Yeah, yeah, I understand the Dave Roberts criticism.
And one of the reasons is, um, him throwing out Kenley Jansen there for six out.
Save our Kenley Jansen, saying he's ready to pitch or things like that.
You can't play it like that.
You can't play that at all.
You got to be honest with yourself.
And I think the same thing goes the Kershaw to I think they're in the same category where you've got to just have have the eye test, see how they perform early in the divisional NLCS rounds and then I mean, plus, during those times, you know, they had to go run to Kenley for six outside or try to get through three innings were Kershaw to come in and and save his bacon because they had nobody else.
Now you have somebody else and my emergency closer.
If it's not Russell Martin, Like I said with Brett, Tom Co.
And Domco was not on board with it.
Tony Gonsouland make that man in the closer.
By the way, I really like this one.
You got PJ Dwyer with the Maquis. Anderson.
You had me going rookie Anderson.
William was big time, man.
He went to South passing a state university.
Played college ball there? No, but I really think that I'm a big believer in Goose, too.
I think his demeanor, his approach doesn't feel like the moments too big for him.
And bottom line is, it's about the stuff.
It's about what you can bring to the table as far as that splitter.
To me, it it is one of its very highly ranked splitter, and we've seen what gone silicon d'oh! I think that they have high hopes for him being being into the starter that second guy out of the pen may be in the game.
Four of a serious we're going to have a bullpen game.
But the important thing is a lot of good problems, tohave and And this is by far the most options that the daughters have had at this time of year, at least in any of most of our recent vintage.
Is for sure Yeah, maybe Lady Weighty.
It had Tim Leary.
But we have. We have.
We have experience.
We have a history of Tim Leary.
He didn't he didn't doesn't leave us alone anyways.
Quickly, last one.
As you questions.
How do you think that, like, do you think that you could get nothing out of Kenley or how how much you think that would diminish his stuff diminishes his ever since he last night in the ninth inning? Yeah, because he lost that aura of invincibility.
But do you think that, like you throwing Johnson jokes early in the division or NLCS round? I just feel like he's a guy who could sulk.
He's a guy who's conference could be shaken.
No, I think by that in that I think he will damage his own confidence Maur where That kind of move.
We're him being slighted.
I think the slight will actually help him or he'll be like, Oh, yeah? Where f you I'm gonna prove you You're wrong.
Yeah, I'm gonna prove to you that you're wrong, And and, uh and that will be good if he has to come in the seventh inning because that's the heart of the order of it.
Because the matchups makes sense for him.
Then I think he's gonna be okay then He's had enough of humiliating experiences this year, like getting booed at Dodger Stadium like last week or two weeks ago.
It's been a few.
That's, I think, empathizing with that.
That is as bad as it gets.
I was not. I'm a proud boor, I have said.
And I was not okay without that was pretty bad.
So you got a ride with your day ones, you know, and he's a day one in this journey and as much as much as he gets much grief is, he gets he still has an e. R.
A. Under 1 to 5 in the postseason.
He's a good postseason pitcher.
He's had not bad luck because I don't believe in Jeremy Jeffress version of a home run is bad luck, but he gives up the run when it's a one run lead instead of a two run lead.
It's that kind of stuff, but I do feel a lot more confident about him this year, and we're gonna will hopefully see some better stuff out of him.
But to wrap, we do have one last quickie sort of rapid fire thing.
Three more games left this regular season as a time of recording.
Who do you think? Winsome regular season awards? Doug, Who is your National League MVP? I'm still going.
Cody Balan, Giant going Cody Bellinger.
I think that Cody Bellenger in the stretch of this year, I think that I like guy does on both sides of the field.
So I mean, if you look at him, 24 defensive runs say that's kind of like it's the edge on how often do you ever see voters take the defense into consideration? I mean, if you want to make the case against them.
With 3 36 of pre also Rop SA 11 24 since 2 30 like post all starting to 53 89.
But the thing about Cody balancers one expresses one of the major improvements was the strikeouts tow walk.
So he stills right this year and last year he was at 1 51 151 strikeout, 69 walks in 2018 now 146 to 64.
So he's still showing marked improvements.
And he just played so well he was.
Your people are liking him to Ted Williams early on.
It's tough to stress that out a lot got into his head.
Probably agree in that regard.
If that's the way you're going with it.
Um, yeah, I mean, look it.
Look, I'll be honest about this one about this one.
I'm going with my Dodger bias on that one, because if you look at Yell, ich his clutch, that's yello, Jizz hitting 2 87 W.
C plus and clutch, and then Bellenger is 1 33 so he Bellenger to 92 runners in scoring position.
I would like to see him as far as the narrative goes, get closer toe passing bell tray or Shawn Green and I think that helm capital.
But I think that in this situation.
I think that Bellenger gets that M v p.
I mean, Ren, don't he slid a little bit? Rhonda Cooney Jr.
He has a You got that help injury.
So if he had made a gun a 40 40 there may be a sway that kind of young there, But I don't What's your take? Who you got? Uh, it's going to be Cody because voters are lazy and they've heard Cody Bellinger all season long.
Some people should smartly still throw some out, uh, throw some love alacrity towards Christian Yelich because he's missed what last 23 weeks.
Yet he's still in the top of a lot of leaderboards.
Rend own is leading, I think, in an R B I and batting average, and he only has a bunch of hits his team.
What I think the best team you're saying in the second half of the season or one of the best.
Anthony Rendon has done a lot.
He's the most valuable player in the second half of the second half.
Should have Mork carry more weight in the season, but Cody Bellinger is gonna win it.
Most likely he's gonna win it because you've heard his name all season long.
You heard the cops of this and he was hitting 400 for 25 for the better part of a month.
Plus, kelly versus belly campaign already kind of picked it out.
But this point on Cody train is well again.
I don't want to because I don't like the way he finished, you know, But I don't know.
I'm really on both sides of this.
Um he's he's pretty much the way he started was great.
And I keep with the Dodgers in the position to really win.
He carried it far enough.
Where then Cory picked it up and then got the team really going the second half struggles.
I mean, they're really Yeah, they're really You can't discount that.
Those are real number.
That should be easy.
And it always will also be bitter.
Sweet, in a way, is almost feel like, Oh, did he win it by default? Because yelling everyone say, Oh, yellow total one if he was I mean, college is a boss and a baller.
There's no question about it.
Are you saying Yeah, let's winning it by default.
Cody, what is it about the fall because because it is.
But if you look at it, it's a tough I mean tough call by think Bellenger gets it done.
Like you said, for all the reasons you said to, It's like the Heisman Trophy in college football.
It's a year long narrative, and guys get in their mind.
And the perception is that Cody Bellinger has been the Eno front runner for quite some time.
Tim brings up a really good point here, Cody.
Help the Dodgers win the division by June so that that probably hits.
It will give me a couple more points.
All right, super quick.
We don't need to deep into it, but N l Cy Young is reused.
Or did he fall too far off for that five games? Kid? It pains me to say it pains me to say, because 100 were you He was the front runner in the NL for a long, long time.
He had those four clunkers.
He's picked it up since I think you got to go with the best pitcher in the game with Jake the ground.
Okay, Gary, you gotta vote.
You're still sticking by you uncle with three years just because you got that bump in the road fine.
Did he have a bump in the road this year? You know, like that's what I want is a mess, you know, on the road.
He's in New York Mets.
Yeah, So I don't know.
I just like you.
He did something historic.
I think it was It was just amazing watching him.
And I just can't all admit to When he hit that home run, I was racist.
He Jacob Graham, you two hold.
I was deflated by its I I'm not gonna lie.
I'm voting because, you know, I'm a doctor fan.
It's hard to take myself out of this and say, Oh, Neil, other players and consider them I just enjoyed this season.
Much is such an entertaining year.
Cyberpunk has my pick because I'm being kind of lazy with it.
But also, I think he's just kind of designer.
Stephen Strasburg has had an exceptional year.
He doesn't not all of the numbers jump off the page, but he leads the league in wins and and I'm not saying he's my pick because of the wind.
But I think the voters still look at that because the voters still aren't all the way caught up to how the game now the game has really played.
Um, it's not about wins, because that's not something the pitcher can control.
Yeah, I'll tell you this.
I hate that Kershaw was not in the conversation.
He absolutely deserves me in competition.
Just one game behind the NL winds lead just barely over three numbers.
But it's just he has that narrative of now.
Yeah, well, no, that's only that now.
He also has a narrative of he's being judged by not having the velocity.
So that's a big problem for the great pitcher.
Now, you know, Rookie of the Year.
I'm pretty sure that's all cut and dry.
Everybody's and agree on Pete Alonzo.
Honestly, Pete Alonzo should get a lot of M V P votes because that that and I can see that kid.
That old man, that's like 25.
Somebody check his I D cut, cut him open and count the rings and boy 25.
But he's hit 51 home runs.
He's about to break the all time rookie home run record.
That dude gets the Roy he probably should get second or third place.
Comeback Player of the Year is a quarry for you.
That would mean a day age 25.
A hip surgery, I think.
I think I definitely got rolled Corey Seager in that situation.
I think that he's missed how much he missed at least a month.
Plus a few more games.
And he's he's right there in the National League lead for doubles.
That doesn't mean very much with doubles, but it means a lot.
Uh, somehow you people.
Still, though, he can't play, Shorty can't play short.
Hey, I don't understand how the D wins above replacement works, but I know that he's been positive every season.
Are this season, you know, I think it's at 1.
5 defensive wins above replacement.
He gets the job done, his throws look better.
I don't know if there's anybody else, but yeah, you know, like the look is with Josh Donaldson.
But I think that that was the other one.
I think I think the Dodgers air are gonna are gonna benefit to from their record to especially Hey, they have a chance to be the all time franchise leader and wins based on how they finished their last couple games out here.
So but I think your dad I think Corey Seager not not many people you hear appeal buzzing that much about a comeback player of the year.
But I think that it that it means a lot for someone like Corey Seager that spent so much time.
It's got to be agonizing to see him now.
Like you said, the boss had hamstring or feeling it.
But Samuel says Jed Jerko for M v P.
That's I think that's it.
That's how we end this show right there.
That's that is the AIDS walk off jerk off.
You're jerking off.
That is to be a teacher.
Yeah, you guys make didn't make that one.
