you know? Looks like we're good.
Make sure the hardy is good on the website.
Tell me when to hit record and ready to go.
It's It's It's something good.
So, uh, you ready? And garage band? Yep.
Ready to hit record on it.
Want to go? What's going on? Everybody, This is Pats Militia podcast here with Ron Kennedy and Tim George.
How's it going, man? They don't well, can't complain.
Fingering Monday, baby.
Yeah, there's there's nothing better than a Monday after a giant Patriots went, Especially the way we've been going this season.
So we're just gonna basically break this down and talk about the game, Dive into some stats, talk about moving forward and just our overall thoughts.
So, Tim, what? We're like your overall thoughts on yesterday's game.
The defense been the most impressive portion of the gang pleasure.
Without a doubt, I mean to shut down Levy and Belle.
I mean, the defense's looks amazing.
I'm always afford thinker.
So I just wanted, you know, always looking at the best teams in the air sea, and I see how we match up in the defense was outstanding, even though, you know, the Jets offense is obviously pretty weak with their third straight quarterback.
But phenomenal defense.
Special teams looked amazing.
So that's what really jumped out at me.
Yeah, Everything was really good.
And like, if you think about it, our defense, honestly, we haven't even loud like an actual touchdown yet on defense could yesterday.
I was just like the pick six by state ham, which is which is pretty unfortunate way to start your your patriots career.
Honestly, what do you think about that? I was, like, first drive.
No, I mean, uh, not an ideal start, but it's all right.
I mean, it probably woke him up a little bit to get pulled right back out of the game.
So I mean, he's obviously practice singing Bella, Check and Brady have always had in the backup, Q B pretty much ready.
I mean, obviously half of whom are starters in the NFL.
It seems these days.
So it was unfortunate, but it didn't mean anything.
Right? So we got a couple of reps better than sitting on the sidelines, so yeah, I'm pretty happy that, like he kind of was able because, like we saw in preseason, he did get So it's always good to discover.
See that? Like that backup guy? Can I come in? You kind of see what like you could D'oh.
So I think it's like it's a positive experience in the yacht.
It's definitely a wake up call like you get into a game and then the score, like starts changing a little bit, used this.
The deficit starts getting closer because of, like something that he kind of did.
So I think it's like a good learning experience and, like honestly, at that point was pretty much like a practice or a preseason game for us because I get dinner, Matt And there was no way the Jets could have put up any points on her defense.
Like, you know what I mean, like their whole like offense during the day was just just couldn't compete, really compete with our defense.
What do you think about like what? Well, let's just dive in to talk about like our defense right now, because I honestly think that's what about has been standing out the most this year.
That's kind of dive in and like So, what do you think of? I like our defense.
Well, I mean, the secondary held it down right for Luke Fleck to throw for 98 yards in an NFL game.
And the guys never pretty sad, right? Need to for 98 yards.
Not even 100 bro.
An interview exception.
Right? So that was good. I mean, also the defense.
If anyone's ever watched the Jets right in the last couple weeks, Levy on Bella's their best player by far.
Yeah, for him, it is worse NFL game ever from a staff standpoint, plus, just never got a rhythm.
Obviously, um, you know, to hold him to 1.
9 yards per carry.
You would've thought he was Jordan Howard out there.
Uh, just just awful. Right.
So, I mean, that really is fault.
The sense I thought, you know, Adam cases a phenomenal coach to go against, cause you're guaranteed a victory.
The guys play calling is amazingly, how awful.
Um, but pretty much everything they even thought about doing it was like we had the playbook in the back of her hand, right? I mean, no one I mean, they're they're speedster right.
We should all agree.
Probably one of the fastest guys in the NFL.
If he is not top five, I mean, 11 yards.
This guy's a burner to hold down to 11 yard and said, Yeah, I mean, pretty remarkable is not getting past the second day, right? So just, you know, held him down.
I mean, it is It wasn't really a test, in a sense.
Honestly, uh, I thought that the best part about it is the defense did what they're supposed to do and dominated like everyone like they're expected to do.
And that's good.
That that they even give any hope Any of these awful offense.
So did a phenomenal job.
Obviously, they're on the fruit string quarterback.
So you're going home and bragging about it.
But you you got in there did what was supposed to happen and how now it's Monday.
And now we're just getting ready for next week, and I I honestly really haven't been this confident about our defense in a while.
Like I've never really seen our defense in just, like, play this Well, you know what I mean? Like the way we just we really don't.
We don't allow, like, any yards to even like good players, like almost nothing like Levi Ambo on all the receivers like and I get Sonny like they're not feeding them because they're giving them hand off.
They're giving him looks, but like they just can't get it started on us.
And that's what I think We really been able to do these 1st 30 games, just like tied on these big good players and just like have defensive schemes were like They just can't even get any like mo mentum going.
And I think like moving forward And what the star with his defense.
I think we're in some great shape.
So defensive side of the ball, like, really no worries.
Honestly, yeah, without a doubt, I mean, Jamie Collins looking like an All Pro.
Yeah, I'm so happy we got him back.
Was like he's just running, pulling, amazing, getting interceptions.
He's just like over the field, getting sacks like like every time he does something good.
I'm just, like, reminded about like I'm just so happy he's back because like when we got rid of him, I was so upset because like he was one of my favorite defensive players like we've had, like recently, I just like I thought he was so good and like he was young, too, when we traded.
I'm sounds like he's still have so much and now he's going to the Browns.
But we got him back and it's showing like he's He looks like the best linebacker on our team.
Honestly, the way he's been playing, Yeah, the crazy portion is mean.
He keeps this up.
He's going that we had the right schedule for him to have just a monstrous year with not really that great of quarterbacks and opposing off our opposing offenses that we're going again.
So I mean, I like to call shots but could possibly put his name in the hat for defensive player of the year.
I mean, wraps it up.
Obviously, you got to sex yesterday.
Anderson particular yet so impacted the game, right? Uh, definitely is.
He's He's got a huge impact on this defense, and you could just kind of tell because honestly, like our defense hasn't made like two crazy changes.
But like from last year, there were definitely about some people going picking new ones, but He's like, let's say, like, one of, like, the biggest changes.
And you can just kind of see the impact he's making out there, like every week.
Yeah, I feel like he's taken, you know, this is like his second chance, right? Went to the Browns.
He realized what? What? It could be one he left when the Patriots won.
I got us a Super Bowls without him.
Exactly. Get paid.
So I'm excited for him.
I mean, I'm excited for him.
And then, you know the old man, Mr Bennett, he looked pretty, uh, pretty decent, too.
So I didn't know how much mileage was gonna be on him as far as how much impact he had.
But he's played pretty well.
Danny Shelton, another guy that just used to be in the brown, stooped.
So, yeah, just getting, you know, redemption.
I should say it's like there's a lot of people that want to prove themselves.
And then even Patrick Chung, I mean, after having that type of negativity in the off season, I mean, he seems to be pretty focused out there, too.
What can you say about me is a shutdown corner no more did it.
It's It's funny, like ever since we got him.
He just kind of slowly increased.
Um, because remember, like when we first got him and the home opener against Kansas City, we raised the banner and he was just getting burned by Tyree Kale.
And everyone's like, Oh, uh, I'm like throughout the season.
Like he said, he definitely started out its 1st 4 games with us, and everyone's like, Wow, we just paid him some watch like we got rid of Malcolm brother.
So there's a lot of questioning their butt.
He definitely has just He's done nothing but grown ever since the first few games.
And now I know he's no doubt one of the best in the league, and I'll take him over Malcolm Butler any day.
Yeah, and another thing is like everyone wants instant gratification and, like you had to give them.
I feel like that with the Patriots way, which is a real thing.
You have to give everybody, you know, a few weeks.
Yeah, I got to be in the system to understand the culture because a lot of players are coming in here and they're nervous.
We all the banners.
They see all the pressure this team is expected to win weekend week out.
And some of these players are coming from organizations that aren't like that.
So I think they a lot of people he came for the Bills, right? So he comes with that paycheck and comes with coming from the the Bills, who were basement team.
Yeah, So I think that, you know, And he's worth all the money.
Really? Like, it was like like like a great, like, long term investment cause, like when we got my even when we got him, like watching him and not on the Bills, he wasn't, like, amazing because I watched most of the Bills game.
So like he wasn't, like, amazing, but like, he was pretty good.
But then, like when we paid him over about bother, it sounds like a big Malcolm Butler fan.
I was just I was definitely questioning and I was like, Wow, I brother, like save That's terrible.
He's been like also, but he also did kind of like decline a little bit, but for a while he was playing very good.
Then we kind of went with Gilmore over him because we can really afford to pay in both and Gilmore like as time goes on, you see, like especially like last year, like and like our playoff run it all like the giant place he was he was doing and stopping, putting his body out, swatting balls.
It's like while this guy's like, this guy's the real deal and I'm like just having him especially matched up against number one receivers.
Now I I'm not even worried, you know what I mean? Like, there's no one that really worries me like matched up against him.
But we also haven't really faced anyone like that this season.
So I guess we'll see you on three face like the Chiefs of the Ravens if he can kind of go when I want to.
These, like star stud receivers? Yeah, Um I mean the defense's bins.
So yeah, and we haven't played anyone good, so we'll see what happens.
Well, I mean, the Steelers were supposed to be good.
And I guess he did play juju.
It's Lina von on juju and didn't really do anything, then also Ah, Devin McCourty.
He's got the interception every game so far.
Keep the streak alive.
Never have about a streak a little bit later on yet.
I mean, enough enough.
Can't be said how the defense came out.
I had, especially with pretty much just dominating the Steelers was really the only offense.
I mean, dolphins air by a week in the NFL so bad.
And then jets are on their third straight quarterback.
So we're doing what we can do.
I mean, next week could be a bigger test when we play the bills in a SIA because they seem like they're on that the open up.
Their offense is probably a little a little better than the Jets in Miami.
Yeah, without it out.
So, did you want to touch a little bit on the offense? Because, yeah, that's for sure. Talks on the offense.
I'm gonna grab my laptop charger, so I'll be back in about 30 seconds.
Take a brief intermission.
So Yeah, the offense that here has just been has been moving the ball very, very well and like, I'm really impressing.
I mean, Tom Brady.
What were these, 42 years old? And he's out there throwing about over 300 a game.
I mean, Brady's looked phenomenal, right? Obviously, he did.
306 in a TD yesterday.
Yeah, but the crazy thing about the offenses in a week and 1/2 ago, we're talking about the best receiving corps we've ever had, probably.
And then after yesterday's game, I mean, Gordon got a little banged up.
Julian Edelman's getting them all right, Dan his chest his ribs a little bit.
And, you know, we're putting in guys like Jake Miters.
A lot of people probably don't know, but I'm the offensive end.
You know what? To congratulate the white family in their new additions.
So, yeah, it's pretty cool.
I mean, anyone that's playing fantasy football.
Hopefully, they picked up next Burkett before the game cause he played pretty well.
Not only was he receiving moving the chains had a lot of people forget small things of patriots continuously do from the backfield.
Yeah, it's not a long, crazy place.
It's just like moving the chains, keeping the defense thinking and, you know, keeping our defense fresh to write a new the block drives.
You know, Brady's always been probably a favorite for all us this defense, honey.
He keeps him off the field.
Yeah, yeah, our offense.
I feel we have, like, a good balance right now because, like with our drives, we keep them like long, too.
And I God, definitely, I contribute.
So the defense's successes, just them being rested up because, like when you're up there, it's like I want to play football like defensive shifts when you're out there, like pulling over and over again like it gets hard because I give us running and you have the tackle people.
You gotta be if you're just on a few of the whole game like you'll be out of shape and you'll start allowing little mishaps and passes downfield and such.
So it's good that are kind of mixing in the run game, too, and doing like in few of, like passes.
So just kind of like it seems like the games are just going by like, pretty fast and, like they're also, I watched a few games at once, so like that also ending a lot sooner before most of the other game.
Just because we're just kind of we're just gonna especially like against these teams that aren't that good.
It looks like we're just kind of slowly just kind of getting that when you know what I mean. Like this.
It's kind of like taking our time and kind of the same establishing drives and not doing anything like too risky or crazy.
Uh, which I don't feel like we need to do yet.
I mean, two players, one on the, uh I think is gonna have a breakout year.
Philip. Door set.
You know, it wasn't a huge animal traded for him, to be honest, but he's developed.
It Seems like he really understanding were to be handed Brady.
You're kind of have a better connection.
All you ever had in years past.
So I'm excited for him.
I thought he played really good to get it in different areas.
But the other player that I I'm kind of concerned about.
So Michel? Yeah, Outside of Libya, Bell get more than five carries.
He was the, uh, had 1.
2 yards per carry from a stat standpoint. Not good.
Doesn't look fresh.
Didn't catch anything coming out of the backfield.
Uh, I don't know.
I kind of thought this would be the Sony Michelle game because you have maybe not so much that was gonna feed of Iraq.
And I mean, I know what's going on.
But Rex Burkhead came in there and, you know, Birkhead's averaging 4.
3 excuse yards per carry it, and then you've got sort of Michelle can't even get off the line.
I mean, it just seems like I don't know what the hell's happening.
He's still recovery.
And he's, you know, he was coming banged up in the beginning of the year.
But I love to get him a little bit fresher looking good, right? If not, I don't know what the hell's gonna have sex with him.
Pride just be like the next man up.
Honestly will kind of see what he does and kind of, um, go from there.
Um, the thing I'm back, just like air for I don't know if it's working here, man.
