whether we like it or not, The Patriots offensive line will be an ongoing story throughout the entire season.
During the off season in training camp, I talked it nauseum about the offensive line depth, and my biggest fear would be that the Patriots would have to deal with injuries with some of their starters.
Now Bill Belichick finally started addressing the line near the end of August, and he traded for Cory Cunningham, Germaine Aluminum, Lauren Russell Bottom.
The bottom was a released less than a week later.
Last week, the Patriots signed veteran offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse, and with the latest news of the Patriots, left tackle Isaiah Win will be placed on the i R with a toe injury.
Bella Check has made another move.
Signing Caleb Ben Ock Ben.
A knock and the reports making the way around the media today is that Bena knock had nine different offers to work out with teams.
But it was better.
Knox ultimate goal to work with the Patriots offensive line guru Dante Scarnecchia and after doing my research, I came across a lot of Tampa Bay Buccaneers stands and yes, they do exist and I was shocked to find out how disappointed they were when Tampa Bay released him.
One fan saying that Bena knock was one of their best leaders on the team.
But when you cheer for the box, that's kind of grasping at straws when you don't have much to compare him to.
But he's now a patriot.
Today, I'll talk a little bit about how I think he fits on the offensive line and how he could be used.
But first dear Pats Nation, What's going on in your play, Ray, and welcome to my little show here on T p N on this beautiful Tuesday evening on the 17th day of September, Thank you to everybody who was watching live on sportscaster and thank you to everybody who's watching some of this replay on YouTube.

An underscore Ray again, that's at DP an underscore Ray.
And with all that being said, I'm ready to talk about our New England Patriots because here on DPMNE, we like football.
Really, like football season and everything that goes with it.
All right, so the offensive line has obviously taking a really big hit over the last couple of games we lost.
Or they lost Marcus Cannon on opening night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and we lost eyes.
A win on Sunday against the Dolphins.
At first it seemed like good news and that both weren't gonna be long injuries.
Isaiah Win Waas deemed week to week.
Now he's been placed on the I R.
Marcus Cannon should be back soon, but the Patriots still have to deal now, with three of their starters being out.
Obviously, David Andrews will not be returning this season.
Gone for like, eight weeks, which is a very big time line.
I believe it's something like turf toe and I've never dealt with turf toe before, but I think I've read this week.
It can linger for a long time.
We don't know when Marcus Cannon will be ready.
We do know that the Patriots tried to work him out before the Dolphins game.
He just wasn't able to go, but it means it's close, and he could be back as early as the Patriots game as the Jets game on Sunday.
But the really good news is the offensive line held up pretty well considering that Marshall Newhouse had been on the Patriots for like less than a week.
He started a right tackle before Isaiah Wind got injuried injured and then Corey Cunningham took over at left tackle.
Cunningham has experion cutting entitlement right tackle.
A new house moved over the left tackle.
Cunningham has experienced a left tackle, but Bella check that they played aboutthe right side because Cunningham played right all through the preseason and about.
Jack was actually very complimentary to both of those guys and said that there was very minimal mistakes made by both.
But that doesn't mean that the Patriots aren't looking for an insurance policy, and that's where Caleb Bena knock comes into play.
Now let's talk a little bit about who he is so he was drafted in 2016 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hey, he would think he was drafted in the fifth round.
He's six foot 5 £300.
Ah, he's played in 35 games with his NFL career started in 22 of those I tried to do some digging on why Tampa Bay cut him.
Ah, I think it was before we just after we, too, before we, too, and I couldn't find much, uh, so far throughout his career, he's kind of proved himself as a tackle.
But last season, the Bucks moved him over to right guard and I really dug.
But I couldn't find out much about why he moved over the guard position, and he didn't play well as a right guard at all.
Ah, he allowed 10 sacks Last season, he was flagged on eight penalties.
He fared much better at the tackle position, and I just assumed that if he's going to play for the Patriots, that's how they're gonna use them.
They're going to use him as a tackle, not as a guard.
So you guys just like with my micro set there, Um, look, essentially, I can't figure out why Tampa Bay tried to move on from him after only three years.
But my whole thing was considering that nine teams were interested in his service.
It tells me that there's something about him.
There's something about his play that is appealing two other teams, which is obviously a good thing.
You know, in Bill Bell, Jack so shockingly was able to get a piece that he wanted.
There was rumors all around that he could have gotten more money if you really he went and played anywhere else but New England.
But Bill Belichick does with Bill Politic does, and he goes out and he gets a piece that he wants and he gets a cheaper than anybody else in the league would pay for him now.
The old line is going to be in competition all season.
Almost all of the Patriots roster positions are set for the year.
You don't really expect any significant changes unless there's possibly an injury somewhere.
But you pretty much have the starters that are set everything except the offensive line.
The offensive line is the only exception to that rule.
I believe that the entire season there's gonna be battles for starting positions for backup roles.
I don't think that we're done seen Maura offensive line personnel coming onto the Patriots, you know, on paper.
And according to the media, uh, Bena knock is competing with Cory Cunningham and Marshall Newhouse.
But really, when you watch the tape of last week, when you watch the game against the Dolphins after new houses performance against the Dolphins, I'd see the competition is more between Cunningham and better knock.
Both are young guys.
Cunningham's 24 Ben Tanaka is 25.
You know there's a potential for one or both of them to be long term projects for the Patriots, you know, And as we know, if anybody can help them perform better, if anybody can take them to that next level that they need to be, it's the Patriots.
You know, Dante Scarnecchia.
And that's exactly why I better knock.
Wanted to come to the Patriots, you know, better not come into this team makes things interesting all the way around.
Now, this is a really big stretch that I'm going on here, but let's use our imaginations for a second.
This is me just talking, so we do know the better knock has experience at the Guard position, you know, granted, it went really poorly and basically moving him from tackle.
The guard is kind of what led to him getting cut.
But he's also never worked with Garnish A before the Patriots left tackle and one of the best are left guard.
I mean, one of the best guards in the league, Joe Tooni, is going to be a free agent at the end of this season, and there's a lot of people in a lot of media.
A lot of people know things that believe Yet again, the Patriots will be priced out of the market for one of their linemen.
Ah, it's not surprising anybody if that's the case, I mean, this has become just the norm for the New England Patriots Each season.
Somebody's gonna come out and they're going over pay for a Patriots offensive lineman, and that will leave the Patriots really with only Germaine.
Alumina is their only real guard left on the team, obviously beside Shack Mason.
But they take that last spot, and I'm wondering if they could work with better knock and turn him into a Lumina.
Ours backup or at least give him competition going into camp again.
It's a stretch, but it's just something that's come to my mind.
So why did the Patriots bring him in now? Of course, the wind injury seems obvious, but they really didn't have to bring him in.
Now this is just my gut saying this and I've said this a couple of times and it's just my God.
No one else is saying it, but I does.
I still don't think that Bill Belichick trusts Cory cutting him.
I think that's why Newhouse was brought in in the first place, and now I think he's brought in another tackle.
I think he has signed Caleb N AQ because he just doesn't like Cunningham.
Maybe doesn't like it.
He just doesn't trust him.
He's not ready yet, and I don't knock the Cunningham trade it all.
This is usually the time when Patriot fans will jump all over Bella check.
Well, why would they trade form in the first place? You know, But NFL teams weren't lining up to trade away starting linemen.
The Patriots could never afford Trent Williams.
We need to get that out of our head, you know, There's better things the Patriots conspire and a first round pick on considering when healthy Marcus Cannon Isaiah Win are really, really good tackles below Check had to take what was available and grabbed the best available option at the time.
Now Cunningham had a decent game against the Dolphins.
Sunday's game against the Jets could be a different story.
That will be a different story for the offensive line altogether.
The Jets actually have a pretty good pass rush.
And even though the Jets game is a whole and the Jets team as a whole isn't gonna be a big task for the Patriots.
This will be the biggest test of the Patriots offensive line has had so far going into the season, and the Patriots made to do it, missing both their starting offensive tackles there, definitely missing one.
We're still waiting to find out what's gonna happen with Marcus Cannon, you know, and the Patriots again.
They have options.
Okay, if we look at that Jets game, if Kanan Congar Oh, it's easy.
Newhouse moves the left tackle on Cannon assumes his position at right tackle, and all is well in the world if can and can't go.
New House probably protects the blind side and then at least the right side sort of up in the in the air, right? If Bao check is really worried, he could start Germaine Aluminum, right, left guard, have Joe Tooni go play right tackle, you know, or have Joe to play left tackle, the new else, that right tackle, Whatever they want to go, it's less than ideal.
I like having tuning at the guard spot.
The New York Jets are a team that's capable of putting pressure right up the middle, and nobody's better than Tooni and Mason.
Now we could see New House on the left side and Cunningham back on the right side.
Or perhaps Ben in ah comes in and plays the right side.
Who knows? The reality is, is the Patriots offensive line is going to be the never ending story of this season.
As I said at the top, I expect more personnel moves.
I'm expecting competition.
Turell practices each and every week.
I'm really sitting here now, hands together, just hoping that the Patriots don't have to deal with any more injury issues on the offensive line because really, that offensive line is critical to the Patriots running game and getting that Patriots running game going.
The Patriots best offense they could have this season is a balanced offense, especially with the wide receiver corps they have.
You look at Antonio Brown, Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman.
You think it should be past happy, but with the offensive line not being the full complement we wish it was.
Keeping defense is off balance.
Will open up the opportunity for Bill ballot or for Tom Brady and Josh McDaniels to expose teams and just burn them.
But the balance has to be there.
The offensive line has to help get the run, go help get the run going.
It's like I say, You have it another day.
Another new offensive lineman comes and tries out for the Patriots.
Basically, for the last week I've been saying the only real concern the Patriots have is the offensive line.
And thankfully, if anybody has the coaching staff to get through this, it's the New England Patriots.
I also suspect we're going to see Brady getting the ball of his hand quickly.
I think it was last week when I said that Brady could be the Patriots best offensive lineman by just not getting past Russia is a chance to get to him.
You know, like you did to Joey boast on the divisional round.
The Patriots definitely have options now, and the only thing we can do is fans.
The only thing that we're able to do is sit back, wait and watch and see how things unfold in front of us.
You know, to quote a popular mantra.
I see on Twitter daily and Bill, we trust, and that's all we can do.
We have to trust Bill Belichick, trust that he's finding the players.
We need trust that he's making it better.
And I mean, really, the line can only get better from here, right? It can't get worse from here.
The Patriots offensive line obviously has some questions, has a lot of questions.
Bill Belichick is working on answering those questions.
Apparently, some of you guys have questions, too, and every day what I do is I go on my Twitter and my instagram and I ask you for questions and any questions you might have.
And again, you can follow me at DP and underscore Ray and I do my best to answer each one of those questions here on sportscaster.
Look, I I get a lot of the same questions or I address your question in my content that that day.
So even though I don't address every question directly, I do make sure every inquiry and every subject matter that has asked is answered.
So let me, ah, answer some of the questions that were submitted today.
Here's a question.
Eight weeks for Isaiah Win Can Dante Scarnecchia, Pola Mr Scott from the original star track and get through the next eight weeks? I kind of already addressed that.
Maybe I should have answered this question.
Like I said, if there's any team in the NFL that can get through this, if there's any team that can get through this kind of contrary to get through these kind of injuries, it's New England Patriots one, because you have Dante Scarnecchia, who's just an offensive line guru.
You have Bill Belichick, who who sees things differently than everybody else as well.
So yeah, I believe the Patriots can get through this, I believe. Scarred out.
You can do it. Thanks for your question.
Ah, this one is.
Do you think Brown is innocent? I'm gonna reiterate myself for those of you who didn't hear my first stance on it, Here's my thoughts on Antonio Brown.
I'm not taking sides on either side.
I'm not saying he's guilty of not saying he's not guilty.
I won't come on here and victim bash, because if it turns out he's not being set up, then it's not fair to the victim.
If he is being set up, it's not fair to Antonio Brown to deem him guilty before it happened.
That's why I made this statement when he came out.
And if I talk about Antonio Brown in here, I've only talked about the football field.
I haven't talked about everything else and all the stories and all that in between.
Um, I learned from the fiery kill situation.
Just wait and see and bait till we find out all of the information.
So I'm not going to see if he's guilty of Knox.
If he's not guilty, What I mean to say is currently he's a wide receiver on the New England Patriots and had a hell of a game against the Dolphins.
Would you be open to the Would you be open to the Patriots wearing their alternate red jerseys in the Super Bowl? Um, I guess.
I mean Jersey Cho doesn't really matter to me.
I like them wearing their whites in the Super Bowl.
They've won more times in the whites, I believe.
I think that what they've lost once now in their whites twice and the whites like I think it's once or twice they have performed very well.
We're in their white jerseys.
Um, I don't really care what Jersey they were in the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl, though.
All right, here's one.
You know what? I'm going to see that one to the end.
Here's one more of a DP in question.
Were you planning to sell merch? I had merchandise up for a while.
I was really happy, though. Came out.
I'm not sure if I'm gonna relaunch line.
I'm still thinking about it right now.
After what the Jets did to the Patriot pat, How many touchdown celebrations of the Pats involved with him? Ah, the concussion in the ah Was that the Pro Bowl game or Pro Bowl packed practice? I'm sure they'll do a little bit of Robin, and I'm sure Pat's Pat will try to get.
A little patriot will try to get a little bit, but I don't I don't think that the Patriots is a team is thinking about it right now.
And the big one that's out there right now.
Should the Patriots trade for Jalen Ramsey? Yeah, it's funny, right? Because every time a big name free agent comes on the market, Patriot fans were just like all the pages to go after him.
But I mean, and every year and every time I'm like no, they're not going to go get Odell Balcon Junior.
No, they're not going to go get Dez Bryant.
No, they're not gonna trade for this person.
No, they're not gonna trade for that person.
And then and then they sign Antonio Brown and get all our expectations up again.
Um, I don't see a need to trade for Jalen Ramsey.
We I get having stuff on Gilmore in jail and Ramsey would be phenomenal.
Um, I don't see Bill belch up giving up two first round draft picks, cause that's apparently what the Jags are asking for it.
So I just don't see about giving up two first round draft picks for Ramsey.
I know that he wants a big contract, so it if he's gonna be like a rental player if the Patriots trade for him now, are the Patriots have a great secondary.
So I see no reason not to spend that kind of draft capital to bring him in.
It's a great thought.
And of course you know he would, you know, just the rich would just get richer by bringing him onto the team.
Ah, but at this point time, I don't see a reason for the pages to bring him in.
I mean, that's just wishful thinking.
A lot of our parts, all right? It wasn't a lot of questions and a lot more yesterday.
Everyone who sent me a question. I really do appreciate it.
Look, DPMNE was created for Patriot fans.
So the more I can get you guys involved, the more you could be involved.
The batter I remember you have a question and you wanted answered here on the stream and you want to see it on YouTube.
But every day is Senator match Twitter instagram, and I'll do my best to get to every single question that I can, All right, guys, and I got one more little piece of business.
I want to take care of here.
So the Patriots are taking on another a F C East rival Sunday afternoon when they host the New York Jets.
New York is obviously going through a bit of an issue at quarterback right now, with their starter in franchise quarterback, star Sam Darnold, contracting mono, contracting mono and being put on the shelf for a couple of weeks, they thought they could fight through it with their backup quarterback, Trevor Simeon.
Ah, but he went down last night against Cleveland Browns with an ankle injury, and that's thrust a former 199th overall pick Luke Falk into the starter role for the Jets, the owing to Jets will be led by folk as we're gonna battle of 199th overall picks and Tom Brady, the greatest ever play is gonna leave the two No Patriots as much for my expectations for this game.
I'm not going to be a CZ vocal as I was with Miami Dolphin games, because the Jets team, even without Darnell, is gonna be a tougher game.
Ah, but I will say this.
Anything short of another blowout win for the Patriots will be disappointing.
There will be a lot more to talk about it this week goes on.
But for tonight, let's just take a look at some of the early storylines in this.
A F C East showdown Now.
Prior to the season, the New York Jets were supposed to challenge the Patriots for the A C East, right? Even the Jets coach Adam Gates, was walking around New York telling all his players that this was the year that they were going to dethrone the Patriots.
Now I don't know what it is with Jets coaches wanting to rattle the Patriots cages.
You think the guy that got him, Gates would learn from the Rex Ryan's of the world because at this point, I think they all just need to accept right Everybody in the A F C East has in will kiss ballot tax rings.
Whether they like it or not, Belichick is the dawn of the A F C East.
Yeah, the Peters heir to a no, But it's not just the two and oh start.
It's a strong two window start, and the Patriots have clearly looked like the best team in the NFL so far.
You know the closest thing that the Patriots has probably been the chief's, but the Patriots defense looks weight looks way better, like the Patriots look like the most complete team.
The chief's look like they have Patrick my homes and other greatest offenses on the game.
Sure, the patriotsoffense looks just as dominant, and then they have a dominant defense right there.
The Jets, on the other hand, loss of the Bills already.
So I really don't think they're gonna be coming after New England.
But going into this game, the Patriots offensive line is a working progress, and this will be a Jets pass rush that should challenge him a little bit now.
One thing that I noticed last night when I was watching the Browns and the Jets game was the Jets did look a little susceptible to letting up the big runs and Sony and Michelle's presence in this game.
I guess along with Rex Burkhead it out as well will be a key factor in helping out that offensive line right and I really am expecting a game plan out of the Patriots of a really healthy mix of running past it.
Just not let that Jets pass Rush, get comfortable, not want them to send the House, only to be burnt and assuming that Marcus Cannon will be out for the game, Brady can really help out his offensive line by delivering that ball quickly, not allowing the past rush to get to him.
And it could be one of those games where James White becomes a big part of the game plan.
The Jets have a decent secondary, but I don't see how they can cover Josh Gordon, Antonio Brown and Julian Edelman as well as worried about the running backs.
So if I was Adam gazed, my emphasis would be to get to Tom Brady.
And I think that if Sony, Michelle and Rex Burkhead could make them pay for that in the run, and Brady could move that ball quickly and James White is a big part of that run game, it can help out this Patriots sort of patchwork offensive line.
Also, the Patriots defense hasn't surrendered a touchdown.
Cynthy a F C championship game going all the way back to January and they have a chance to match in 1937 record set by the Chicago Bears.
And this game will be far less about this secondary and more about the defensive line in linebackers stopping Lavy on Belle because after Simeon went down last night, the Jets basically became a run team, and I expect that kind of game plan to be so similar when they face the Patriots.
I expect a steady diet of runs against the Pats, maybe a little bit of play action mixed into.
There may be some R P o options, but it's gonna be a run heavy team.
And the Patriots offense could help the defense out, obviously, by scoring early, getting them up by two or three scores right away, forcing Luke Falk the have to throw the ball and them putting up point and being on top and playing from ahead will force the Jets to steer away from their game plan Now this should be an easy win for the Patriots, but it won't be as easy as the Dolphins game, But it'll probably be easier than the Steelers game, so it's sort of an in between for those of you who've been following me for a while, You know that I'm a fan of Luke Falk.
I advocated repeatedly before the 2018 draft that I wanted the Patriots to Dr Falk.
I thought that he had the perfect makeup for the New England Patriots, but I also said that I believed it was the Patriots or bust for Luke Fox. Career.
Very much like a Tom Brady.
Not the Tom Brady that we all love today.
Not the six time Super Bowl champion.
Not the greatest of all time, but a young six round draft pick, Tom Brady.
Just like Luke Falk needed the Patriots.
Tom Brady doesn't need the Patriot anymore.
Brady could go off and be successful somewhere else now.
But when Brady was developing, he needed a coach like Bill Belichick that would give him a chance.
He needed a locker room like those early Patriot teams that would instill the work ethic, the team first, the family mentality to really buy into the Patriots way.
Brady himself has admitted prior to come to the Patriots.
He was very self centered confidence, young man.
I think that it was ballot shakin the Patriots culture that cultivated Brady into what he is today and then his sheer talent and his sheer will in a sheer competitive This the wind and a clutch nous that can't be taught all came together at the same time with the Patriots culture, and we now have the goat.
Luke Falk needed that same thing, and unfortunately, he's now in a locker room with a coach who underachieved with some decent Dolphins teams.
His departure from the Miami organization has forced the team to go into a full out rebuild.
Adam Gaze was in New York for like less than a second before he started drama with his general manager.
And, unfortunately, being in that kind of situation, I think it's gonna be bust for Mr Falk, and I'm its too bad.
But when we look at this Jets team, this will be a tougher game for the Patriots.
But I'm beyond thinking, you know, will the Patriots win? We all know the answer that, of course, the Patriots are gonna win.
The question is, will the defense surrender a touchdown? Well, Brady in the offense, score over 30 points again.
The road to three and oh, maybe a little bumpy at times, but I have zero concerns about the final outcomes.
And look, I'll spend time this week getting as we get closer to game time.
We'll talk about the axe is a nose.
All I'm gonna ask Peter fans is this.
Can we please just focus on the Jets this week? Don't be like the Kansas City Chiefs fans and focus on other opponents because the Chiefs fans are showing the New England Patriots complex all season.
You know, like I said in my Q and A last night, we played the chief's Week 15.
That's when I'll care about the Chiefs.
As far as I'm concerned right now, the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick my homes and everything that's going on there very relevant, and as a fan beast, let's keep them irrelevant.
The Jets may not be this exciting, sexy game that we're really looking forward to, but that's who the Patriots are playing on Sunday.
And I'll be honest with you guys.
That's the only thing I care about for. Right now.
You're Pats Nation.
