00:02:29
What happened this week to this team? They lost their starting quarterback, Trevor's giving back the defense.
00:02:35
I I mean, I had a friend who was who was ready to jump the other.
00:02:39
He was sad.
00:02:40
It was even though it was tough.
00:02:42
Over.
00:02:43
Jetsseason is absolutely open, no question about it, and we'll talk a little further along in the show with Jay about.
00:02:49
I'm not ready to totally right.
00:02:51
The Jets are you wrote a first quarter of the season as you sit looking quarters of the season.
00:02:56
And, you know, hopefully Donald comes back after the by that very early, but and lets you have it miles away.
00:03:03
Yeah, well, that's not That's not, You know, it's not encouraging, but I think there's still some signs of life, and we will definitely get into the whole thing.
00:03:12
If you I should still be the quarterback of the Giants.
00:03:14
That's going to be interesting, but also probably might have some time tonight to take your call so you can write down the number 631955 54 100.

We started five show each week without baseball.
00:03:34
Major League Baseball beat reporter that John Carpenter.
00:03:36
So we'll start off today with John.
00:03:38
How you doing, Johnny? Johnny, I think we lost Johnny.
00:03:44
Okay, well, we'll get him back.
00:03:45
Johnny's doing like Johnny.
00:03:50
You there? I'm here for you right now. We can hear you. No problem.
00:03:54
OK? Yeah.
00:03:55
Sorry about that.
00:03:56
Yeah.
00:03:57
No, I just I just wanted to interject.
00:03:58
I do think the Jets are gonna win this week.
00:03:59
I think Odell Beckham has got Greg Williams fired up.
00:04:02
I don't think they have a score a lot.
00:04:03
I think they could win, 63 but I think they're gonna win this week.
00:04:06
After that, they're on their own.
00:04:08
I will get into a Greg Williams ranch a little later.
00:04:11
I I think Odell torches the Jets because they have no secondary all right, with fanatical.
00:04:16
All right, so here's a couple of question A.
00:04:18
J and I spoke about this a little bit today and listen, do I think And we've had this conversation for the last three months? A Zara's ****ey Callaway goes, um, and I have to say, you know, last night could have been one of those moments where ****ey, even though he's probably gone anyway, could have put the final nail in his coffin.
00:04:38
If Raja Davis doesn't get that hit and you know they don't score in that inning and then you know they blow the lead and lose that game with CONF order on the bench doing a double switch, not putting luego deep enough further in the double switch so he gets to pitch.
00:04:58
The two innings might have been his ultimate blunder, however.
00:05:03
He goes out, he gets Raja Davis, who was batting 1 54 on the season, doubles and drives in three runs.
00:05:10
And then they get the outs and and win the game.
00:05:13
That being said, age and I had this conversation you can fault making on a lot of his in game moves because a lot of them don't work out.
00:05:22
But you can't fault him for the the air in which these these guys come to play and they're not tense.
00:05:31
And as much as we like Joe Girardi, I'm wondering if you get the same out of Alonso and McNeil and J. D.
00:05:41
Davis.
00:05:42
With a guy like Joe Girardi in the in the dugout, that's Oh, that's a great question, you know, and I've had a lot of conversations about Calloway as well, and the defenders of Calloway will tell you well, he gets his guys to play, and to me, that's almost like okay, that's the minimum we should expect of a manager.
00:06:05
I don't think that's a reason Thio extend a guy for three more years because he gets his guys to play.
00:06:11
I mean, we always We always said that about Terry Collins from 2010 to 2014 while we get these guys to play.
00:06:17
Well, that shouldn't be that hard.
00:06:20
But But that said, you do raise a good point.
00:06:23
You know? Who knows how these guys are going to react with the different manager and different coaching staff that's in place.
00:06:30
So, yeah, I would yes, give Calloway credit for that.
00:06:33
These guys have had great years, but Calloway's in as proven to not be a guy that can win.
00:06:39
You gains with the move he makes.
00:06:41
You're right.
00:06:42
That's not batting.
00:06:43
My fordo would have been the nail in his coffin.
00:06:46
Has the Mets lost last night? And, you know, I could see where the move.
00:06:51
I could see why he didn't do it, but I could also see why people would complain about that.
00:06:56
The fact is, we don't know they come every night as long as they've been in it that they came back.
00:07:01
They dug the hole, like out of it right out of the All Star break.
00:07:04
But what would have happened? You know, we haven't seen a dog days of August in which they're 20 games out of the race.
00:07:11
Part of it feeds on itself.
00:07:13
They got hot.
00:07:14
They hit the soft part of their schedule.
00:07:16
They took advantage of the soft part of their schedule.
00:07:18
And now they're playing as the Wolf.
00:07:20
Funds are fond of saying meaningful games in September.
00:07:22
We don't know about keeping the guys ready to play because he hasn't kept stalling.
00:07:28
Thief, foursome James.
00:07:30
Keep across the wild card going to argue that there's lots of moves we've talked about any manager camp, but also, you know, how much is Bernie? Have they had a bullpen that didn't blow was 30 something.
00:07:41
Saves that one on.
00:07:42
Behalf of those saves may be leading the division, so there are lots of things back and forth.
00:07:47
I'm not willing to credit Calloway for luxury because it actually started winning. It sped themselves.
00:07:55
I think a lot of tactical, no, but there times where devastating losses that when you blow six runs, it's another thing to come the next day and realize that's it.
00:08:05
Season's over and they've never done that.
00:08:07
Whenever they've had these losing streaks, they've come back and they've never had a notion that is him having that.
00:08:12
The fact that it's the excitement of youth you guys were having been there before, understood.
00:08:16
But a guy I don't give out almost say, Go along with a J.
00:08:19
I don't I'd almost give because we don't know what goes on in that locker room and it's a knee jerk reaction.
00:08:26
Say, Well, it's the manager that's keeping them playing.
00:08:27
I hear people wanna talk every night.
00:08:30
I hear I hear what a leader he is, and I wonder how much of it, like A J said.
00:08:35
It's the It's the youth aspect of it and, more specifically, Alonzo keeping those guys loose in the courthouse.
00:08:42
Who knows? It's interesting.
00:08:44
You bring up Alonso, and here's why.
00:08:46
You know, again, we have that comparison with the Yankees.
00:08:50
Yo, Derek Jeter never, ever spoke.
00:08:53
He was, but he didn't have to, but But he was a team leader.
00:08:57
Alonso is a team leader and he speaks.
00:08:59
However, I don't know if a guy like Joe Girardi allows a clubhouse like that to talk Ryan get you.
00:09:06
So I've got something I really, I'm just interested to know first before we even get there.
00:09:11
I don't know this guy's appetite for the job.
00:09:13
I know he just may have walked away from Enter David, right where he's younger.
00:09:20
I know I never happened.
00:09:21
Never happened.
00:09:22
Never happened.
00:09:23
But so, but never that I wouldn't happen, either.
00:09:26
That that's a move born out of, You know that that seems like something for the fan.
00:09:29
It's like, You know, I You know what if David Wright wants to manage, then let him go through the steps that other managers like? Why? I don't think.
00:09:37
But I don't think he's on that path.
00:09:38
I think he's more on a front office, passed myself, and I think he's walking away from the game for two or three years.
00:09:44
To watch his kids grow up is what he said extreme.
00:09:47
You know what he said the day he had that one game back? He said, Now it's time to be with his family thing.
00:09:52
Then you take the guys who might be at talking about Gerard.
00:09:54
We took the possibility of Joe Maddon, who is the guy who is the next Adrienne who's the next guy out.
00:10:01
It's Cora, Alice Core.
00:10:03
You know who was the next guy out there.
00:10:05
Who's the hot guy who won't like ****ey Callaway was a couple of years ago and that more asked only to ask who the next guy is? Because we thought we had the next guy in ****ey Callaway way.
00:10:15
One else has a name.
00:10:16
Italian Gabe Kapler.
00:10:17
That's part of the reason why I asked about David Wright.
00:10:19
Is that it seems so copycat that Okay, so a.
00:10:22
J.
00:10:23
Hinch, um, Aaron Boone last year was getting a lot of criticism.
00:10:25
What Alex court was getting all this praise flipped the year and what's going on.
00:10:28
I mean, they moved on from Dombrowski in the middle of the season after just winning a championship.
00:10:32
So it seems very copycat.
00:10:33
And the reason I bring up David Wright is just what Mark was talking about about the younger culture that, like Ken Alonzo just because he's youthful lead this way, lead this team in a way that cess pit is.
00:10:43
Even though he hit 40 home runs, Never could.
00:10:46
You know, one of the guys that we fail to mention just won a championship down in Brooklyn, and that's Edgardo Alfonzo, who's been in the organisation for many years and has put in his time.
00:10:57
So if you are goingto look out, you know, book and have ah, search.
00:11:02
Edgardo has to be one of those guys you have to reach out and consider for sure.
00:11:06
Why is a huge difference between managing the class A modeling team and managing the major as opposing waits for the job? But I'm going to go through the slaps.
00:11:17
Those of you just said you wanted, right? No, no, no, no.
00:11:20
I said that the neck.
00:11:21
Okay, the next Adrienne changes firemen in the mines at different levels, but they're also guys that come out of the press box or come directly where was gave get capital was in the front office and what went down And look how well he's and listening to the fire.
00:11:35
And you know what Joe Maddon is? No.
00:11:37
Ah, great inning from his team from, you know, being a guy who never won anything, you know? So, you know, and he got those many World Series, as you know Terry Collins.
00:11:48
So Joe Maddon to me is not Joe Maddon know he's another guy, you know, if you know Joe Maddon keeps his guys loose, he is not the best when it comes to strategy.
00:11:59
So if you're gonna replace making, if you can trade, get rid of ****ey Abusive.
00:12:04
Is it game decisions? I certainly don't want Joe Man is the guy to replace him, but ****ey is so bad, but he sees he's early in the jobs.
00:12:12
You know what we said we thought were getting the next guy again? What if it takes? And you said it also if Brody had gotten them and listen, don't for Brody either, because you couldn't foresee what Diaz was gonna be this year.
00:12:24
But let's say Dia's was semi competent.
00:12:27
You're right. They're running away with the division.
00:12:29
So they say that they only blow 26 30.
00:12:34
Are you saying right? But you're saying his bad decisions are the bullpen decisions? Because if that's what you're basing it on, you can't tell Leslie that surely comin from upstairs.
00:12:46
But the man has to go.
00:12:48
Go.
00:12:49
This gentleman, if they have a relationship, which they don't because he was not Brody's guy.
00:12:53
Ah, and say, you know what? Look, we can't afford to keep my role in D s.
00:12:57
And I know you were interested him costing us games lately.
00:13:01
Let's put him in the field rations world situation.
00:13:05
Let's see that.
00:13:06
But somebody has to stand up.
00:13:08
The men's say, Look, let's have this conversation we need to get.
00:13:12
He's got him now.
00:13:13
He's you know he's got Lou.
00:13:14
Go now He's got Wilson and Diaz goes home for the rest of the season.
00:13:19
The bottom one is this, John.
00:13:20
You know what? Madden Girardi? What's the one thing that's gonna take to get them money? Right? So I think there's a better than even chance that ****ey Callaway is the manager.
00:13:31
Next year.
00:13:32
I would tend to agree with you, because if he's gone, I don't think they're going to go to the to the big name Manager route unless unless Brody really pushes for it.
00:13:42
And I don't know if Brody is gonna push for something like that with last.
00:13:48
The last manager that was experienced and accomplished somewhat accomplished, that they hired Thio and in mid in the in the off season was Art Howe.
00:14:00
Jerry Manual was a way.
00:14:02
I think he maybe got to the playoffs once, but he was a 500 manager and he was a midseason replacement for for Willie. Willie Randolph.
00:14:10
So and then Terry Collins had really hadn't really done anything.
00:14:13
Hey, was just kind of ah last gas desperation guy.
00:14:17
So I can't see the Mets.
00:14:19
I can't see the world runs all of a sudden, reversing course and saying, OK, we're gonna bring in Joe Girardi.
00:14:24
We're gonna bring in Joe Maddon.
00:14:25
We're gonna bring in a guy that can win us games tactically.
00:14:29
And listen.
00:14:30
Say what you want about Mad Madness moves mad.
00:14:32
Never, never made a double switch, but he never switched pictures before.
00:14:38
The other team announced their pinch hitter that that's egregious after me.
00:14:42
So other side of town Yankees injuries.
00:14:46
Sanchez in Crown City owned it.
00:14:53
It just means that they need, uh, baton sooner rather later getting the pictures back.
00:15:00
Chances today.
00:15:03
Her mon Domingo Herman came back the other day and I don't want well, he slid into the ones that get in the picture back.
00:15:10
But now all of a sudden, you, the Yankees, the firepower they need standing to come back, and just to finish on the Mets to go back.
00:15:17
We were questioning some of the moves Calloway makes, but do the moves.
00:15:20
He makes matter if if Brody is still texting from home on his couch.
00:15:24
So if he's not gonna give up the power, who is he? If he's not gonna loosen the reins, then who is the person that comes in that he trusts enough to then run the team, run the right way? And that's great.
00:15:35
Probably.
00:15:36
That's another reason why I don't think a mad nor Girardi comes in.
00:15:39
I think it's gonna be some somebody that he's comfortable with that nose.
00:15:44
Maybe it's somebody that was a former client of his.
00:15:46
Maybe somebody was for over a guy who goes, There's gotta be some sort of comfort level.
00:15:52
And the problem is, his experience does.
00:15:55
It is as a nation.
00:15:56
So who knows what kind of comfort level certain guys.
00:16:01
You know, the one guy that you talk about going experience route and you talk about David right? There is one guy out there that I think would be a great manager who I don't think needs to go that route.
00:16:14
I think David Cone would be a guy that could possibly fit that role, a guy that could come from the booth.
00:16:20
The guy has a wealth of knowledge.
00:16:22
The guy also pitching background.
00:16:24
That's what the Mets are.
00:16:26
You seize the game better than anyone out there.
00:16:28
What do you think? That the other name I would throw out there is a guy, depending on how hungry is to get back in the game and has a pedigree with the Mets, would be Davey Johnson.
00:16:38
Oh, they I love Davey Johnson.
00:16:41
But how? How old is Abby Johnson Time? You know what? He probably didn't have anything to your pitching coach.
00:16:49
What's what? Anything.
00:16:50
20 years younger than the computer guy? That ****ytics guy.
00:16:54
Before we even heard of ****ytic.
00:16:57
Exactly and what I love.
00:16:59
I love the phone suggestion.
00:17:01
I don't think five years ago I probably would have shrugged it off and said, Oh, they don't bring in guys from the boot.
00:17:07
But now, who knows? Especially with shifting, changing all the managers.
00:17:11
I think home would be an interesting choice.
00:17:14
A very interesting choice for the map.
00:17:16
All right, Johnny will speak to you next week.
00:17:17
John Carpenter hurt here each and every week over 5 40 AM Sports talking.
00:17:21
Quick break on the other side.
00:17:23
We're gonna check in at met, uh, Rangers training camp.
00:17:27
It was up there on Friday, and we're gonna hear from the coach of the team, so keep it tuned right here.
00:17:31
Deca Litre.
00:17:32
Cohen and Christo L.
00:17:33

Sports Talk NEW YORK Marc Grossman, A J.
00:18:34
Carter Ryan chairman with you this Sunday evening.
00:18:36
All right, so tonight, rather than have our guests, we have two different spots we have set up for you.
00:18:42
So this 1st 1 was Friday.
00:18:44
Rangers camp opened.
00:18:45
It was their testing day.
00:18:47
At the end of the testing day, a couple of players and coaches were available.
00:18:51
So this is at first we'll start with the region's credits.
00:18:54
Yes, they got the region's credits.
00:18:56
There were no Proctor's there, though.
00:18:57
So and I think Felicity Huffman paid for a lot of them together.
00:19:02
Right? Uh, all right, So this is Coach Quin addressing us.
00:19:05
Ah, the media right after the testing day.
00:19:26
It was made on the self harm is a continuation of the noble the last 16 17 months.
00:19:34
Also our locker room.
00:19:35
All this feeling good about the way? Certainly, rules are big clips was jammed like the kind of help.
00:19:55
Yeah, it's a piece of it.
00:19:58
It's part of our equation.
00:19:59
Silly young.
00:20:01
It's key positions.
00:20:03
Well, we're that, like you guys didn't come back in the second year, four years with full year with us, something that are destined to do away from the rank in better shape.
00:20:15
A little church.
00:20:18
Just continue to progress in the last year.
00:20:25
Your first year? What? What? What did you come up for yourself? You you held on and groups himself on two things that I think, uh, team standpoint.
00:20:41
We have a much better job that I have a chance to accomplish what we think we can accomplish if we go do a better job.
00:20:53
Just think there's gonna be a lot more area players.
00:20:57
Well, it'll take a first job.
00:20:59
That was a warning curve process went through last year's stuff.
00:21:07
I just have a much better position to grow a lot in this year because you have a lot of players and coaches.
00:21:14
Would you expect to not have to do as much correction effort is remind me, guys, notice I here with you.
00:21:28
Don't you think I start this understanding exactly what's Yeah, wait to see the vengeance, which I really Well, I think they understand what's expected.
00:21:42
What were they really like class? She was the connection between the coaches and players of the buy it.
00:21:51
I think veterans certainly understand the way we want playing was expected of US daily basis instead of us saying that President, I think they're effort.
00:22:00
If they see something other than what they're supposed to be doing, anything they upon themselves to correct it was supposed to.
00:22:07
How does it that does all having? And there it was proven that the jobs that she spoke in game what Look at what you think you could actually do.
00:22:21
I signed with a player of this caliber has proven his love.
00:22:28
You know, if only he had a little bit of that that last street before we stretched before the trade that my you hear from the get go gives us true first long.
00:22:43
That ball last year is a seasonal on you got a lot of what? That it's certainly lessens the load for the other three lines.
00:22:52
They take an awful lot of pressure off the other three lines, and you know what? Hoping they take a lot of pressure off settle money on players in a key position.
00:23:00
So, you know, we talked about what a player he is, player, that he is due for a team.
00:23:09
You have that opportunity to have a line like that get ago this year.
00:23:14
Post position.
00:23:15
Who the other guy processes training came score would get some ideas.
00:23:25
Well, there's one thing that I think is unique about our team.
00:23:28
There are small pieces of players that I think you have opportunity for their roles.
00:23:35
All right, I'll tell you, it's gonna be much average with you.
00:23:39
Gotta stop really good last once the season.
00:23:45
So build off season ended, and I think he deserves it.
00:23:50
That or by those crazy, that makes the same money.
00:23:58
Yeah, I think it doesn't confuse us.
00:23:59
Throw the lot.
00:24:07
Where else? Well, we lostem serving greater.
00:24:16
So I wasn't looking for a place to stay a moment.
00:24:19
First those guys out to contribute player like him, have a first line.
00:24:27
You were a vampire or your guys have been fighting where you want to start, where you see them or with that process A book.
00:24:44
He'll just you know, I don't like to give these guys some stability and put in a position, but I think if you will get the lead, you've got players get into the legal age roll sense both by a long way around the career that they weren't playing a little because it's such a position.
00:25:10
That being said, loss you so heated. Deal.
00:25:13
Does he want to get full of returning to play the tickets? Opportunity uses Seeing his ability looks different this year just turned 20 So that's a good sign.
00:25:26
He just wants to have it.
00:25:27
Looks a little bit more mature, more confident A lot last year.
00:25:33
I just he thinks people ops, you'll be very famously got splashed.
00:25:48
There's a truck Hey, mentioned wanting to clean up the dance with facts and Trooper add to the mist in order to do that.
00:26:00
Your success, You fool, I'll play it kind of killed fight outside.
00:26:09
It's gone awful lot played a lot of situations just at him, you know, it's a success is see that he's had, I think just makes every other defensive a little bit about not asking.
00:26:23
People do things.
00:26:24
Maybe that not able to handle.
00:26:26
It's just something.
00:26:27
I think you were able to have friends in a better position.
00:26:31
I use this straight What it would be easy to look at.
00:26:38
He could be on that line, too, and is it something you gotta earn that? Maybe she turned it last year.
00:26:50
I think for sure they have.
00:26:52
Obviously, those guys have a great agreeable played for, so I think they may have a little bit of a leg up on.
00:26:58
You know, that being said, you're gonna find out what they're capable who gets men.
00:27:07
Yeah, don't.
00:27:11
Even 10 days.
00:27:13
I feel different.
00:27:14
Older, you know, you wanna put him in position again.
00:27:18
Don't ask you to watch to put too much pressure.
00:27:21
They want to give you an opportunity to have some success for the way that's coming this way.
00:27:32
How many games you want to see you play.
00:27:35
What are you doing? It was on autos in last year.
00:27:40
Cost league leaders shot away from that guy.
00:27:44
65 cents years is too great source.
00:27:52
After that, maybe will be dead season way.
00:27:57
Want a great season? Don't make the playoffs.
00:28:00
He's in position.
00:28:07
That's what I think is you get over career.
00:28:09
Everybody has to manage a career, makes adjustments.
00:28:23
You just play last year.
00:28:27
It's just big on intentions.
00:28:31
Mistakes happen, but what are your intentions? Maybe if you play with the right intentions along us from ST, we get everybody to play with the right intentions.
00:28:41
Transition's gonna be a lot easier to be complex.
00:28:44
So that's a message we're gonna send from Day one.
00:28:49
The good news is a lot of these guys seven players.
00:28:54
The man's our diversification.
00:28:57
I think it will help with the rookies guys here for the first time, that message from different voice of the box.
00:29:05
Do you know your due yet that he's, you know, with the Angelo. I'm not here.
00:29:11
You Rather declared it already decided to move to the right side.
00:29:18
You know, bombs Here.
00:29:19
There's other guys indicating playing the right side.
00:29:22
Yeah, right.
00:29:23
So competition.
00:29:31
Your opinion of Angelo's ass is when I thought about the gas it here Wait, you guys added, just seemed excitements of my word again.
00:29:57
I think we'll be doing some.
00:29:58
It's just continuing to build bigger days.
00:30:02
You're splashes two young players.
00:30:06
This leading a lot of success here from also sometimes in maker for agent signing.
00:30:12
People look at it as a quick fix.
00:30:14
That certainly wasn't occasion.
00:30:15
They're trading in trouble there.
00:30:20
Just pieces of the puzzle of us moving forward continue to strive to be standing up to a year in Europe, so is this? People have been leading up to read it.
00:30:29
Number two senator behind me during camp starts wants a leg up, but he's gonna get out.
00:30:37
How? How interested are you in this scene in your he's also you.
00:30:43
Have you have you with me in Georgia.
00:30:46
But equal application is a, uh all right? Yeah, I'm not Honestly, we're anxious to see employees consistently over the city.
00:30:56
Really liked what he did in the second game.
00:30:58
It is different when you put a small sheet, right.
00:31:01
Hold it different.
00:31:03
He's gonna used to pace playing at this level t that ends which you want him spending.
00:31:14
Your brothers.
00:31:15
They're eating cereal states.
00:31:16
We could see him starting the year up here.
00:31:22
University want to crush? It was lost because a lot of sentencing He's gonna play at this level.
00:31:32
So you guys get drafted? Actually, we're very optimistic and feel good of all our death.
00:31:46
Dropping his latest starting now, how about your own expectations? December gauge how you eat it.
00:32:03
He's had a lot of attention for good reason.
00:32:08
He's got success.
00:32:09
It's posed so expectations.
00:32:15
It's also 19.
00:32:19
It's time for a little bit of time to get acclimated, to put an actual styles.
00:32:28
Well, I think for sure you want temper the expectations and keep everything in check.
00:32:38
Sure, you know little about expectations.
00:32:43
Always, God has incredible hockey.
00:32:46
I Q.
00:32:47
If Jo Mitchell brain you think about this? Is that popping off a lot of mineral that was played at? So I think the question on defending standpoint skating standpoint, that's not question is how quickly get here.
00:33:03
That's this one I know about what happened.
00:33:08
The question is when.
00:33:11
So that's the only *** I'm in the middle strong.
00:33:17
It's wrong in this west ago.
00:33:19
Nothing at all of this is its day.
00:33:23
So reaches all play out job last year and he gives us flexibility.
00:33:31
And that may be a game again.
00:33:37
Yeah.
00:33:38
All right.
00:33:39
Maybe the second set of one day we're gonna be the same old friends along their plant.
00:33:45
Strong uses our journey not to put something in the middle.
00:33:49
If you feel like you're kind of in a straight line stash.
00:34:02
Oh, you You adapted them a little bit.
00:34:08
Do you expect? I think over both on again.
00:34:13
Everybody's pulling for certain that, Deanna.
00:34:16
Yeah.
00:34:17
I also realize you can't have 12 floors.
00:34:20
It just well that old you wanna have the skill, guys that a little bit of that in their game? What have you I guess you're looking for the players to meet halfway again, that I'm gonna begin to day being that's going around from Utah someplace that's people play this thanks and needed to be physical one off or hard enough to allow this skills.
00:34:50
That's all that you're I am still player.
00:34:53
I want you to be hard enough.
00:34:55
Tough enough to let you skills anymore.
00:35:04
Well, we're it didn't do a warning system.
00:35:10
You're Ung Last two days.
00:35:13
Talk about Golden your game management.
00:35:15
Do you have no telling how many games you want me to play And how many games for George to play? Or is that still to be determined yesterday Wanted you like to have a captain, but again, that's something that's going to ball situation.
00:35:33
That's just gonna happen in the capital for himself.
00:35:38
When you look at the family is yeah, you guys know this season and you remember the last 2020 Daniel season.
00:35:53
I think what may have been lost here, trade that one would love to believe in so whole way.
00:36:02
It was a lot better than maybe we all remember be included because when the season ends and that you've got to the point where we're able, Smart declined to do so.
00:36:13
But there was one.
00:36:14
Shots were appalled.
00:36:17
Those changes in the trades with changes in the train here, Chris IRS year once they last year were, maybe you're probably a certain point.
00:36:49
You think that's guys last year.
00:36:51
Your country's Officer Chris's questions, But I don't players ready.
00:37:04
You're ready.
00:37:05
Just give him respect.
00:37:09
Yeah.
00:37:10
Have you seen him? He looks different.
00:37:11
Through is a guy that's probably lost about 10 or 11 Volatile lead, great shape class your company because he was from a situation where the beds also 30 40 minutes a night, which was a big job for you.
00:37:28
You become vengeance station beet red sauced in which, while because that means he's given us all just wasn't ready.
00:37:35
You know that world to no fault of his trip leaning up a little bit big, strong.
00:37:47
He certainly is something that we thought a little bit when you came in shape from off a lot of work in summer position.
00:38:02
What you want.
00:38:03
You said someone was waiting.
00:38:06
That's what you say every year is because of what transpired.
00:38:10
Get just a vacation.
00:38:19
So some interesting tidbits at the most.
00:38:22
The most important, I think out of that was the fact that Pablo Boots Novich.
00:38:27
He's penciled in for the first line.
00:38:28
That's big news again.
00:38:30
This is before camp starts.
00:38:31
Lots of things was, you know, changed tack.
00:38:34
Oh, and crash off.
00:38:35
He's got playing together, which is interesting.
00:38:38
You could tell he's a little upset that Tony D'Angelo's 19 and the other guy that wasn't gonna be in camp but signed the night before to get there is Brendan Music.
00:38:46
We're gonna play Brendan's interview, which was a little reporters scrum, and then we'll come back right after that exciting time of year, but a long summer.
00:38:59
So we're all excited to be back here.
00:39:02
Are you personally just coming? Now you're coming in halfway through the year just to be able to keep in the beginning? Yeah, of course.
00:39:09
That's obviously what you always wanted.
00:39:12
D'oh! So it's exciting.
00:39:14
I'm having We were able to get something done.
00:39:17
Um, and you know, I'm happy to be here with My teammates were looking forward to a big year.
00:39:23
I think for me personally, you know, one year deal.
00:39:25
So you want to get in here quick as possible.
00:39:27
Um, they're not a step behind you.
00:39:29
One of those first steps.
00:39:31
First impression of the testing as opposed to other captured in it.
00:39:34
Testing part.
00:39:35
I'm still pretty well, have you was good testing.
00:39:39
We have been note the offices yesterday and some of the older guys got to do this, He testing before camp.
00:39:44
And, um, I wasn't able to do any of the testing without a contract show.
00:39:49
It was nice to see you get it done.
00:39:51
Obviously, we're harder.
00:39:52
They're watching.
00:39:53
So, um, and learn from action next year.
00:39:57
What do you hope to you? Do you improve on what to work on? I think just, uh, adding to what, uh, you know, I've been trying to do my entire career, keep playing the same way.
00:40:11
I don't think there's anything specifically that I tried to change.
00:40:14
I just want to keep proving, showing that the way I play the game, my style can be effective and can help our team win games and um, obviously, you know, you want to capitalize on the offensive opportunities for a guy who, you know, plays up in double lined up and squared walls.
00:40:31
I want to just be able to put myself in a position to do that, so they just show components of that.
00:40:36
But then there's, you know, just getting opportunity, being in there and capitalizing on you get the chance.
00:40:41
Looking back, anything for you.
00:40:43
After the trade coming in this season from a situation like this much, I think it will.
00:40:49
Well, I was really happy with my game.
00:40:52
Once I came, I came over to New York.
00:40:54
Um, you know, there's a personality, you're changing couple of situations.
00:40:57
You're going from playing on a team that's winning a lot of games.
00:41:01
You know, sometimes I was getting on the isolated games.
00:41:04
When the scores are, you know, we're running the gate, right? Ran away with the game, or, you know, when we're down in games and, uh, you know, we kind of said how, Okay, let's rest of the guys for the next game type thing.
00:41:15
But you know, once I came over, I felt like I contributed three.
00:41:19
Well, you know offensively, started out well and then kind of tell him off at the end.
00:41:23
But, um, it's when calls tell him how again.
00:41:26
So I think now that our focus switches to, you know, trying to win hockey games, getting better every day and for me personally trying to do the same thing, get that every day, help your team win hockey games and then, you know, they said, capitalize on those offensive opportunities when I can and try to every spot you in front of the net and take that takes down.
00:41:48
New York season unfolded and all these moves were being me is a player.
00:41:51
What's the message to you and jump start from a rebuilt to right now, being super competitive? Oh, we'll be pretty frank with you.
00:42:01
And it's not like they send out a memo when they decide that they're gonna, you know, go sign these guys.
00:42:06
Uh, it's the messages is a player.
00:42:10
We got some really good other players, so it's exciting, you know you want to play with the best players possible.
00:42:15
You wanna win on better the players you're playing with, the better your chances.
00:42:19
So it's exciting.
00:42:20
We're all looking forward to the opportunity to play with, you know, Brad and troops.
00:42:24
And it's it's exciting.
00:42:28
We're looking forward to it.
00:42:30
I know me personally.
00:42:31
I don't know what these you're gonna bring with being with true blood.
00:42:34
What a pig it's gonna be.
00:42:36
The city's gonna get behind the scene, I think again, And, uh, not that they weren't before, but it's obviously gonna keep growing.
00:42:43
With what? The team as we grow and as we get better.
00:42:46
And I think that's, uh, that's exciting for us.
00:42:49
We're looking forward, you know, just to get this started, stop talking about it and get going.
00:42:53
You know what? You bring to the table with that skill, Theo quit that.
00:42:57
You play with what they're gonna be needing from you.
00:43:00
Well, I think, um, no Coach, Coach Quinn and I have talked about it, and it works, and everyone and I bring something that they don't.
00:43:09
You know, you don't have a lot of, uh and so I just have to stay true that I know you must take off your teammates.
00:43:17
I'm gonna be in your face, hard, physical type player, but I think that's just part of you.
00:43:22
know who I am.
00:43:23
Uh, there's guys that you know to massage.
00:43:27
The pod could make plays and heads up players and guys that you look really good and play with a lot of pace and skill.
00:43:32
But those guys who go through people go too hard, areas on, they bring something out of the other team and they make guys play a little tighter.
00:43:41
They finished tricks that make the game harder on guys.
00:43:43
And I think that, you know, I put this case on today.
00:43:46
I try to just make it hard on other people by playing my game as hard as that possibility and finishing people playing through people, being in front of the net, just being, you know, the harder I played, the more people get ****ed off with, the harder it is to play against me.
00:44:02
So if I just bring that energy, um, it can.
00:44:07
Your teams can follow suit, and then that's the difference between maybe me and some of these obviously incredible players.
00:44:13
We've gotten Cak Oh and Brad and those guys that are gonna make those plays, um, um shine with this shine with the other teams in the past and they're gonna shine in New York.
00:44:24
So I think we complement each other, and I just know what I have to bring.
00:44:28
You have any particular reaction when the schedule have one thing? Yeah, I thought those tree interesting.
00:44:36
Uh, I was sitting by the pool, the star, and I'm like I will schedule came on.
00:44:41
I was like, Holy cow.
00:44:42
This is gonna be interesting, but, you know, it's kind of nice to get it out of way, honestly, opening that you don't have a lot of nerves.
00:44:49
Um, and you know, you have expectations in your head of what the season is gonna be like, you know, Um, but then playing your old team is obviously, though I know in the past from junior hockey pulling miles, he was always like your heart beats a little faster.
00:45:04
You know, you have a little more skin in the game, and so to have to once, I guess it kind of feels a kind of like opening night.
00:45:12
So for me, it's kind of nice to get out of the way, to be honest, what can you tell us about trooper? What if the main defends a wonder what brings the night tonight basis.
00:45:22
Well, true.
00:45:24
He's got extremely having shot.
00:45:27
He's obviously offensive minded, but he's extremely good defensively and he plays a lot of good.
00:45:34
Um, he's hard to play against.
00:45:36
His will be pushed around.
00:45:38
So I think that that's one part of his game. It's maybe underrated.
00:45:41
He just really doesn't, um He doesn't like guys walk all over him.
00:45:46
Hey, plays with backbone.
00:45:48
She had a chip in this tour and he's got the skills and the defensive capability to back it up.
00:45:54
So you know hell of a player is gonna be really good fresh.
00:45:58
We want anything heavy, told him about lying and maybe also entitled 15.
00:46:03
Well, I would if I was only here for 20 a. M.
00:46:06
So I don't really have too much to town.
00:46:08
But I'm sure if I told them I need any part.
00:46:14
So some really good interesting stuff out of the first day of camp camps under way.
00:46:18
That first exhibition game takes place Wednesday.
00:46:22
We're going to take a break.
00:46:23
We come back with more hockey and then after we talk, more hockey will wake a j up and you will get back to the stuff that he enjoys, so keep it tuned right here.

Carter Ryan chairman With you this Sunday evening, out at Citi Field, Brenda Nimmo Triple drove into Mets are winning, too.
00:48:43
Nothing against the Dodgers, and I didn't have to go to the bullpen.
00:48:46
Interesting again.
00:48:47
You know Nemo, coming back from injury is given them an element again.
00:48:51
You know what ended to make you use that? That could be something that also get second guessed.
00:48:55
Putting a guy who didn't play a lot.
00:48:58
No, because he was injured and rehab in there.
00:49:01
He's the guy if he had a choice season of him overseas.
00:49:06
But it's also interesting to be able to instead, a guy in after a guy had a grand slam in a tour on Homer, his first multi home run game.
00:49:14
So you gotta give him credit for sure.
00:49:16
Listen, we bashed him, Ally, but his moves have been paying off.
00:49:20
Even a broken clock is right twice a day, and one other guy that I think has not gotten enough credit before we turn our attention back to hockey.
00:49:27
It is Robbie, come up.
00:49:28
I mean, the fact that Robbie Cano easily with that injury, everyone basically said, done for the season.
00:49:33
He worked his butt off, and I I I will admit me, Let me finish finish.
00:49:39
And unlike suspects when he got injured, Robbie Cano was in uniform every night in the dugout, cheering on his teammates.
00:49:46
So I give him credit for that.
00:49:49
He's also hitting fielding and you worked on, but that is different and you need to give him credit for that.
00:49:58
All right, Ross, we're going to turn our attention back to hockey.
00:50:00
So you know it Just going to zone out for a little while again.
00:50:03
It's gonna go back. Check ins, fantasy teams.
00:50:05
I rephrase.
00:50:08
That meant bullpen remark, considering it.
00:50:12
All right, so we just played Coach Quin and it was interesting, you know, first of all, he started, you know, he said that it started the news conference saying that summer was way too long.
00:50:21
Um, but but one of the things he dropped in there was the fact going into camp.
00:50:26
He pretty much has a vision of his lines and that first line and you had mentioned it's on the show.
00:50:32
You know, once I got on Aaron that he sees Butch Nevins, which I love, because you know that I've been talking butch up for a long time now, but he's got books later as a top three forward.
00:50:44
What do you think of that? What do you think the reasoning behind that is? And why do you think before they even stepped on the ice for any drills, he made that announcement.
00:50:53
I did a couple of things.
00:50:54
I think they probably realized last couple of years they could be getting more production.
00:50:59
Adam but they had him dropped a lot lower.
00:51:02
He wasn't getting much power play all those things.
00:51:05
I think you could look at them and see that he's a high school guy, but also that you could get more points out of him.
00:51:11
He certainly is a guy that's capable of scoring 25 or more goals if you can get the right amount of shots.
00:51:17
If he's got the playmaker to set him up, it never really set him up with a playmaker.
00:51:21
I mean, Canary in last year had, like 59 assists.
00:51:24
That would be a hell of a thing.
00:51:25
Now, course Obama job's gonna bury some of those, and that's fine.
00:51:28
But he gets a lot on the power play to think this is a really way of balance in the lines, and I think also something that played into it was because of Travers City.
00:51:38
They saw how cackle and crafts off got along and you know what? They gotta have a look at that a little bit and maybe that's how you could start to create more lines on this team because I do think that team will get a fair amount of scoring this year, and that's how you start building it.
00:51:53
Another central theme in his talk was the centers, and he mentioned, you know, he mentioned the fact that he ultimately would liketo have Aaliyah's Anderson at center.
00:52:04
Okay, he also like that Beetle at center, he said.
00:52:07
Ryan Strome is a guy that he can basically bounce over to the wing.
00:52:10
He is. He played it effectively.
00:52:12
The one name that never came up when he was mentioning all the centers and never came off when he was mentioning all the wings was domestic off.
00:52:21
Is that Was that an omission in purpose for, for on purpose, to send a message to the domestic off? Or do you think he's just not even on the coach's radar at this point? No, I think it's a purposeful thing.
00:52:35
I think they're sending a message there.
00:52:38
Did he mention bread out? I was just I was mentioned everyone.
00:52:42
You wanted everyone but the message.
00:52:44
I wasn't I wasn't about to jump on you for admitting how did but but the fact that the message, maybe like you said, like Strom fits in either in the center or the wing.
00:52:52
But how didn't kind of filled in in the middle.
00:52:54
Really? Well, I really like the way that he played last year, but going back to the Butch Nevins thing and both of you guys, I'm interested.
00:53:01
What if it's more of a, You know, early in the season, they're gonna instill some kind of confidence in this guy that instead of bouncing him around like Russet mentioned, you're gonna play up here with unerring who's gonna put you in the right situation.
00:53:12
Hasn't been in Jack who's also gonna put you in the right situation.
00:53:14
Better job is a playmaker, even though he has a bigger body, can finish clothes and finish on the power play.
00:53:19
He's a playmaker, and you can set up an average to be in the right situation.
00:53:22
So maybe they're just trying with a younger player to instill that that confidence that he could be a top three forward? Yeah, I think they know they can get more of them.
00:53:30
And in regards to the centers I'm not a soldier.
00:53:33
Is putting Geeta Look center.
00:53:35
I don't think he's that good of face off.
00:53:37
I would rather see how them there too.
00:53:38
I would be okay with with Andersen Howden or or domestic cop and one of those guys and one of those guys plays a wing.
00:53:46
I mean, I'm fine with that.
00:53:47
We have to see if Anderson can handle the face off.
00:53:50
That's that's the other thing, but I think he's at least give him a pat on the back to do it.
00:53:56
You know, I always told people of everybody's like, Well, the center's I'm not sold on him.
00:54:01
They have enough of them.
00:54:02
It's gonna be up to clean the figure out who to use and how to use. No question.
00:54:07
They have an abundance of centers, and he seemed very high on he tal.
00:54:11
He said that he looks different, and when pressed on him, he said it wasn't so much The physicality, places the maturity and he said, You know, people forget that he was 19 years old and he says he's coming more focused and he said he's expecting big things out of hell.
00:54:27
He didn't but I've never played center in North America like I think you played in the Czech lady, right? He hasn't played it here.
00:54:33
It's a big it's a big wedge.
00:54:35
I mean, at least when Columbus had Pierre looked abroad.
00:54:38
What, they sent it back to junior for a year to play center and then do it.
00:54:42
I think it's gonna be hard for him to do.
00:54:43
I think he's just wishful thinking on that.
00:54:45
All right, with the two minutes we have left we talked about, you know, Kratz often cackle, playing together, who's gonna be used? His linemates? Well, I mean, right now they're using them.
00:54:55
The key produce of the Russian that they signed is a free agent, has got a lot of speed and also can be a really good playmaker and scores similar to use.
00:55:04
But in the sense that you never know if you're just going to be the playmaker score, although he's will tell you he's a past first guy and Wayne Simmons, and I guess the Wayne Simmons part is sort of keep an eye on the on the kid to make sure nobody takes liberties with him.
00:55:17
Which is good because Wayne Simmons is very good at that also will set up in front of the Net and Hughes will actually do a lot.
00:55:23
I think for Wayne Simmons, his career again, uh, will be interesting to see how Simmons plays.
00:55:29
I mean, speed hasn't been great, but if you park further than that, he could be effective.
00:55:33
It'll be interesting to see when he goes back to filling.
00:55:35
It will be interesting to see when he plays the Rangers again.
00:55:38
I mean, it was a good pick up from the Jersey, because if there's one thing that Wayne Simmons knows, he knows all the teams in the Metro.
00:55:44
Absolutely.
00:55:45
All right, Russ, also the last lead with 30 seconds left.
00:55:48
The fact that a lot of these are phase now signing.
00:55:50
So maybe there'll be some movement with the U.
00:55:52
F A's guys like Brian Boyle.
00:55:53
Maybe signing towards the talent to camp right? I would think somebody would pick him up.
00:55:58
All right, Russ Cone here each and every week with the NHL report.
00:56:01
And by next week he's gonna be able to talk about actual exhibition games because they get it started this week.
00:56:07
We'll take a quick break on the other side.
00:56:08
We got more, so keep it tuned right here.

01:01:34
If you were a long time listener of the show.
01:01:36
You know that a lot of times if someone in the world of sports passes away, uh, the week before arm, we try to reach out to do a little tribute on them And what we try to reach out the teammates or or coaches or someone that's had a connection with them.
01:01:49
Ah, we also, If you're a longtime listener, you know that we do a lot of popular culture stuff, whether it be Broadway or music.
01:01:57
This past week we lost a rock and roll, you know, he's an icon, and from then on an island, right long Islander in any money.
01:02:03
And we were lucky enough.
01:02:04
When Eddie was doing a free concert at Eisenhower Park, he'd come on the show with us.
01:02:09
And in tribute to Eddie, we felt that it would be nice to replay.
01:02:13
When was this, I believe was two years ago.
01:02:15
I have been three years ago.
01:02:16
Um, we thought would be nice to replay our Eddie money interview with him as a tribute to Eddie, who passed away of cancer.
01:02:25
71 realize who was that old, you know, And he always portrayed a much younger by He was around for his around for a long time.
01:02:32
You know, you don't realize how quickly time passed away that young.
01:02:36
Yes, a lot of great songs and a great vibe.
01:02:39
So this our interview with any money from two and 1/2 to 3 years ago joining us now is perhaps probably my first brush with celebrity.
01:02:46
Uh, okay.
01:02:47
Was 1977 or 78? It was the winter time.
01:02:50
I was hitchhiking down front road in Seaford and on my way to MacArthur High School on a cold winter day, a very nice lady picks me up and asked me on this mile drive down to MacArthur if I was into music.
01:03:01
And I said, You know, obviously, if you're a fan of the show, you know how much I'm into music.
01:03:05
So I said, of course, you know, And she goes to me now, at this time, I'm also working, and that's a costume.
01:03:11
She goes, Oh, my son will be playing at Nassau Coliseum Saturday, So me working at the Coliseum, I knew the schedule.
01:03:18
So I, like, blurt out your son's meatloaf and she goes, She laughs because, no, my son's Eddie Mahoney, I go who was any money.
01:03:27
He says he's opening up for meatloaf Ever since that I've been a big fan of Mrs Mahoney and Eddie ever since.
01:03:33
How excited mine to introduce our next guest.
01:03:36
More excited than any money running a travel agency.
01:03:38
It's a thrill for me to welcome to Sports Talk New York Rock and roll icon and legend Eddie Money.
01:03:43
Welcome, Eddie Hell Creek TV, Bush rooms, Everything going on, everything is going great.
01:03:48
So I know you're born in Brooklyn, but you grew up in plain it.
01:03:51
So you're gonna play that high School's a kid, you know.
01:03:54
I didn't know what island trees, island trees, you know, there was a memorial deficient island trees, Mkapa and of course, planet shot with trees.
01:04:02
But those were all those the years or Alan Trees is banning books? Absolutely.
01:04:06
That that come from a family of policemen as your father, grandfather and brother, all New York City Police Department policeman.
01:04:14
You actually were an NYPD training.
01:04:16
And if I'm not mistaken, you're a police officer for two years.
01:04:19
Well, actually, police training shoes and you know, my band moved out to California on Duh.
01:04:27
I looked at my dad was always so grumpy, and I don't think I want to be in your uniform for 20 years of my life, my seven Children doing Marine Corps, the Army and gotten it over with.
01:04:37
So I quit.
01:04:38
The police department moved out to California Record seven with Graham Iraq Stereo, Fillmore East and never Columbia Records.
01:04:50
So 27 million breakfast so out of the blast when I take the on tonight, think imma love, Walk on water to Texas Proud Eyes.
01:04:57
That's been a lot of fun. It really is.
01:04:59
So, yeah, here's where actors and musicians differ from athletes.
01:05:02
When you're a kid growing up and you play Little League or Pop Warner organized hockey, you start to get a sense that you're better than a lot of kids.
01:05:08
And then when you play the high school level in college, you get a pretty good sense that you're better in a lot of others.
01:05:13
And you think that the pros could be a possibility.
01:05:15
When does that reinforcement come from for a musician? And when was the moment for you that told you that you were better than most, and that you could really make a living in music.
01:05:26
Well, you know, when I was growing up, my parents might.
01:05:29
We had five kids and asked, My father didn't have enough.
01:05:31
When you go out, buy me an amplifier or a guitar or send a drum sublight, that's what's that if I gotta get in.
01:05:38
This is a business which I want to get in.
01:05:40
I found that the best way to, you know, take the Children.
01:05:42
It's a nice cold up in on the football team started E I can sing better than you guys talked everybody, you know, let me get after in there with some singing.
01:05:56
You know, I just became the lead singer in a van, which was great like a **** Jagger on the real position later, later in life, like *** for a potentially piano when a player Monica was like back in the back of six.
01:06:12
Just delete seeing a young Now you mentioned Bill Graham and he said of you, Any money has it all.
01:06:17
Not only can it saying right and play, but is a natural performer.
01:06:21
So if you were giving a scattering report on any money as a rock star of those attributes singing, writing, playing a performing.
01:06:28
How would you rank your abilities in each of those categories? Well, you know, I grew up in New York with a with a group called The ***rants is the lead singer in that bin that was actually Leslie's West Japan.
01:06:39
We'll soon have been a copious, eh, Pitino And this guy could know he was so graceful on stage with factories, ice skating up there.
01:06:46
That was incredible entertainer.
01:06:49
And I just think you know what you have seen in the pan Marines and get up there and dance around a little bit, you know, just like a change around great creative.
01:06:57
You know where Jack Wilson you swept into flips on stage.
01:07:01
But you know, to me, like getting up there and and, you know, entertaining people much singing, you know, I mean, last we're playing keyboards, and I was looking at your kind of looking at the keyboard.
01:07:12
I like you get out there and look like, you know, stare my audience down him a good show.
01:07:17
Look, people directly in the eye and, you know, it's it's well funded.
01:07:20
The limits.
01:07:21
We've seen one abandoned mean sake.
01:07:23
Top plea over jump More people play you know.
01:07:26
You know, it's great singer leaves.
01:07:28
What about you? Now? A J always gets mad at me if I don't somehow bring our guests somehow into sports.
01:07:34
So I'm gonna do a little sports ****ogy here.
01:07:36
Your career is like that young pitcher who has huge success early. You try.
01:07:41
This is a nice try, Mark.
01:07:42
Just get back to the music your way.
01:07:45
I think that's a good question.
01:07:46
You're gonna love this A generally good.
01:07:48
All right, So you have huge success early.
01:07:51
You know, you're that rookie phenom.
01:07:53
It was like for the doctors, right? Exactly.
01:07:56
Yeah, baby, hold on two tickets to Paradise, which are great songs.
01:07:59
Just the mere mention of those titles on every listener out there now is singing the hooks in their head as I speak And in the middle of your career still going strong with shaken Think I'm in love.
01:08:08
But then, you know, you seem to lose your fastball a little bit.
01:08:11
You have several unsuccessful commercial releases, which doesn't mean anything these days in the mid eighties and then you have struggles with drug addiction for a picture they can looked at video work on mechanics.
01:08:22
How does a songwriter go back to trying to get back to that certain level? And that assessment might not actually be able to get a fair as because you might value some of your work.
01:08:31
That might not have been commercial success, like, probably 20 questions in there.
01:08:37
And I even tro if there's one.
01:08:39
But you could just speak on that.
01:08:41
Well, I'll tell you.
01:08:42
Just, uh, you know, I came down.
01:08:43
Everybody's gotta go.
01:08:44
Back in the eighties, everybody was still doing drugs and smoking fighting grace.
01:08:49
I wasn't alone out there.
01:08:51
You know, People say, Have you told me I had a lot of it was free.
01:08:54
How do you think out something? Definitely a ****** and slipping the stuff.
01:08:59

01:09:05
And it's lunch, everybody.
01:09:08
So I could have walked for about 9 10 months.
01:09:10
So, you know, I I did have my set batch and, uh, comes with life, you know? I mean, you gotta live and you learn, You know, I quit drinking right now that that kid Cem former good.
01:09:21
My career is going really great.

01:09:30
I put my plane back up, try to get it on port way.
01:09:32
And I don't really have a good year.
01:09:34
No, I mean, I could look at having a bad year.
01:09:37
I mean, if you look at how much honey traps is on paying or it was a couple of friends down the line in the last couple of years, but I don't know.
01:09:44
You know what price? The cost in school and your life Now that you've, you know, kick your addiction much better, much better place? Well, yeah.
01:09:53
I mean, I mean, I never stopped a needle in my arm, you know, strung out on three days.
01:09:58
So there was never a pink elephants coming down from our little stuff like that.
01:10:03
I mean, I was just an average, you know, you know, knocking down the babies with everybody else.
01:10:08
But, you know, I was always the one that would drive home.
01:10:10
I mean, but I know I had troubles with addictions were really not that much really.
01:10:15
Worst addictions.
01:10:16
I have women, man.

01:16:55
You know what that theme music means? It's time for a day's weird news of the week.
01:16:58
What do you got for Ryan? Are you looking for? Actually, I am very relevant.
01:17:05
That's why I have got just the job for you.
01:17:09
There is a brewery at Los Angeles, the Golden Road, which actually has a wanted out. Any video.
01:17:15
They're looking for somebody to be there.
01:17:17
Chief Beer office And what do you have to do to be chief here, officer? If you paid $100 a game to go till every Los Angeles Rams home games, they buy you the tickets and perotta breweries products, especially their new whole house blonde ale.
01:17:32
It says the quote that the aunt says, Drop it.
01:17:34
You need to be willing to get paid to watch football to promote the Golden Road brand and all that comes with it.
01:17:39
You have to have some urgent one and 35 plus years of tailgating experience that she says, Okay, you're 21 or older, Yes, So all you gotta do, you can apply online and you want to go.
01:17:49
This is interesting market.
01:17:50
You go, you watch the game, you tweet about the game and about the brewskis that you've had.
01:17:55
I know who's getting the job already.
01:17:57
It's probably fixed number.
01:17:58
The guy with the rainbow hair John 3 16 He's getting the job, have a rainbow hair, and he's gonna have the brewery's name and he sits and that I always got great seats.
01:18:08
So right now he's got the inner track sisters instead, instead of holding up something says Hi, Mom, after one says, You know Golden Road, Murray.
01:18:17
All right.
01:18:18
Time now for the NFL report with J.
01:18:19

01:18:47
Are you up for the challenge? Do you have the cooperation, creativity and focus to escape book now? It just escaped long round dot com.
01:18:54
That's just escape l i dot com and I would say it's a pretty good bet that if you had Greg Williams and Odell Beckham in one of these rooms.
01:19:03
I don't know if both of them would get out at the same time or close way.
01:19:07
Get out which one's right.
01:19:08
So I want to start their J because you know what? Listen for me, Odell Beckham is a clown.
01:19:14
Okay for me now Greg Williams is a lying clown because for him to get up there at a press conference and you know Adele Adele called him out, You know, saying that teammates of his that told him in the past, you know that the guy definitely tells guys to go out and try to take guys out of the game injured guys.
01:19:33
There's been tape of him saying this.
01:19:35
He got fined, suspended as part of Bounty Gate and for him to get up there to press conference and say, People around the league, No, me and I've never coached that way ever.
01:19:46
I would never try and have anyone injure a player.
01:19:49
So let's start with the W W E version of football that O'Dell has become and Greg Williams going into tomorrow night's game.
01:19:58
What are your thoughts? It's pretty funny because the everyday VX has a paper of you right now, and I was anticipating on piano Del and grateful it match tonight for sure.
01:20:07
Uh, yeah, you're right.
01:20:08
You know, Jonathan Doma comes out.
01:20:10
Oh, no, I've never heard that before.
01:20:12
I'm on.
01:20:13
How do you think we are? You guys Who do you want to believe more? It's a bunch of homemade Jonathan.
01:20:24
Jonathan Vilma was actually down there.
01:20:26
It was involved in that.
01:20:27
I know he was there at the same time, but he was part of it.
01:20:31
Also, if you have to go up there and then go, this was just a joke and no one laughs.
01:20:36
It was It wasn't funny.
01:20:38
It actually is.
01:20:39
It's not something to joke about.
01:20:40
He's talking about, you know, hurting players in O'Dell's comments I understand are somewhat clown is that he makes it w w E.
01:20:46
But it's relevant that this guy, maybe O'Dell was trying to tip the referee's hands that bring that up right? I think you know that, Really, J.
01:20:55
If you agree with us, part of that is not just to get stories in the media, it's too trying sensitized.
01:21:01
The officials say, Hey, watch me closely cold, close nanny thing on me.
01:21:05
I think that's that's sort of the message of the madness.
01:21:08
Perhaps.
01:21:09
Yeah, I think it's a two part thing.
01:21:10
Was the first for you.
01:21:11
Exactly what you're saying right there.
01:21:13
I remember that game where Odell got hit low and remember thinking what it was doing here on then.
01:21:20
Also, I think Odell doing this relevant as well.
01:21:23
You're not gonna be in the paper as much as you are when you're playing for New York.
01:21:26
So I wouldn't be surprised.
01:21:28
Guys, throughout the year we're gonna see another watch story.
01:21:31
Another Greg Williams story has been a beat.
01:21:34
The ever growing saga of Odell in Cleveland.
01:21:37
Somehow stay relevant.
01:21:38
Never joke him, Noah.
01:21:40
A couple years ago with the Bulls and calves, nobody goes on vacation in Cleveland, so he's gotta make his own kind of story.
01:21:46
But it's interesting you bring that up because you know you have a lead that's gonna be coming out next year in the XFL, which is Vince McMahon's, right? Well, the outlaw only rights of the outlaw league.
01:21:58
You got guys like Odell wearing a $300,000 watch in a football game.
01:22:04
Then you got really tells you how interested security in the locker room.
01:22:08
But then you also go.
01:22:09
You know, a guy who used to be a premier quarterback in the league, who so far this year is not going out in the press conference with I don't even know what that waas to me.
01:22:20
Listen, I understand.
01:22:21
Obviously I don't understand fashion, but has the mentality of the players become marketing themselves over and above the game? And what really surprised me is the guy who really is the poster boy for football.
01:22:38
As far as I'm concerned, the way he purports himself in the way he goes about his business is Pat Mahomes and Pat goes out and does his job.
01:22:47
Puts out the numbers, comes up there, says the right things.
01:22:51
You know what's going on with a faction in this league where it's just craziness? Yeah, and I think the word is brand.
01:22:59
These guys are worried about their brand more than anything else.
01:23:02
I think that's OK.
01:23:03
Listen to what hotel, said Old.
01:23:05
I had to bring some prime time in all ice Giants football.
01:23:09
Listen, buddy, they survive Frank Gifford.
01:23:11
They survived the filth ins and Michael Straight and the Giants could have you much fun.
01:23:15
You know pretty darn fine when you're gone.
01:23:18
The column.
01:23:19
Barkley as well, But yeah, I mean, Cam Newton.
01:23:21
I mean, you look like the guy that had a toothache in the fourth ticket booth press conference, but that's what it was about.
01:23:28
Guys know in the old cliche NFL stands for Not for long.
01:23:32
So a lot of guys, they're positioning themselves guys like Randy Morris, all of these former players making you know, good money as ****ysts and guys still in the news.
01:23:42
Look across still in the new Nets hasn't suited up one time.
01:23:46
I still think you can instruct at some point this year, but its core about the brain guys playing for your team and being part of a club like that's hysterical.
01:23:53
You mention the toothache because I did think there is definitely an episode of the Three Stooges with Carly has a similar kerchief hide around the top of his head.
01:24:01
NBC's got a toothache, right? You look like you look like Angie Mama, Mrs Butterworth, the oh rebound.
01:24:11
So save us the way you had been speaking about that.
01:24:15
It made me think that I had just watched recently all of the LeBron James stuff on HBO, the shop, which is such a great production of just influential people off all different kinds, sitting around and speaking.
01:24:27
And even if we all here, let's just say we said that Odell is a clown.
01:24:32
Let's also maybe just say that Antonio Brown's a clown for argument to argue for are just for this purpose, right? But then, well, I'll say this clown go ahead.
01:24:41
But then these are guys who are also in more of like a human aspect, dealing with the fact that they're dealing with their own brands, because what else is there for them? Because when the Steelers weren't there for, you know, a bee, what did he have to do? He went to the Raiders, but he didn't really want to be there.
01:24:58
I feel like he almost controlled his way to the Patriots, but it is.
01:25:01
It is super diva ish.
01:25:02
We've gotten away from it all, but at this point, so now where do we go? Guys like Pat Mahomes, like you said, are doing it the right way.
01:25:09
How do we get money that you know how many more guys on the right away.
01:25:13
But I think what the guys were fighting is like the institutional thing, that these are billionaires and millionaires.
01:25:19
Yeah, and I know exactly what you're saying.
01:25:21
And I talked to a lot of NFL players about, like, even the left belt situation, and they wholly agree that the business move there's no oil from teams can cut you at a whim.
01:25:31
So why should the players have that same kind of loyalty back? It's a two way street, and that's where I think you know what, The next coming up, We could have some serious issues, but some things fall, guys remember, I just I think it was last year where they say, Oh, Mike Trout, you gotta do more to market yourself.
01:25:46
Not him.
01:25:47
More like Patrick Holmes is saluted, so he goes out there.
01:25:49
He hits 30 home run, hit 300 drives in 100 runs every single year.
01:25:54
He's never gonna be that guy.
01:25:55
That's gonna be me, me, me and to some people, that's not doing the best job of working yourself in the sport.
01:26:00
But I'll take a guy like Mike Trout over Odell Beckham, definitely the week.
01:26:04
So let's talk about some things that happened on the field today.
01:26:07
Let's start starving.
01:26:08
Antonio Brown.
01:26:09
So first he plays just one thing.
01:26:11
And then, too, we actually catches four passes for the Patriots.
01:26:14
Uh, he's out there.
01:26:15
He's said he's fighting the suit.
01:26:17
He says he's not guilty.
01:26:19
The truth will come out and he's on the field.
01:26:21
What do you make of the fact that he's on the field this week that the lead didn't step in and that the Patriots played? I think it's one of those things where with Roger Goodell and the NFL, you're just looking for some consistency when it comes to punishments.
01:26:34
UH, going back to the Ben Roethlisberger case and then go on a Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson.
01:26:38
Just There's no fine line of through this how many games you get.
01:26:42
So now, at times, you know you're gonna have a blessed day.
01:26:44
Well, it's not the court of law in the been until proven guilty, but I think the whole thing with the flight gate and everything goes into it with the feet.
01:26:52
There's a reason why you went to the agency that increase in line, please.
01:26:55
And they say they don't have a country that no, there was impressionable e mails out there that shows that he has been questionable behavior.
01:27:03
They're gonna go out there, make the acquisition they brought him in.
01:27:07
So they It was one of those things before Any more information story, not anywhere close to being done.
01:27:12
Let's get him out there and use them as a resource as often as we can before find out whether it be OK.
01:27:18
He's gonna be cleared you to play the rest of the year, or the hammer comes down and you'll see him on the fire.
01:27:23
And A B is trying to use up his free massage gift certificates before they go out of his foot massage.
01:27:31
Right? Stay out of the crowd in injuries.
01:27:34
Drew Brees, How serious is this? Look, I kind of question that was weird.

Is one of those hand injuries air coming through on the follow through And Aaron Donald get a piece of you would think that he'd be able to fight through something like that guy, that feeling, this one other, starting his entire career with the same.
01:27:51

00:17:21

00:17:31
Deca Litre.
00:17:32

00:46:03

00:48:37

01:01:32
Carter Ryan chairman with you this Sunday evening.
01:08:59
We'll send it towards the bus, which will and, you know, I want to see out of my left language looking a lodge slick.
01:09:23
We have a backup, professionally, finished one.
01:09:26
We should be sleeping on my shoulders on the putting rest commercial.
01:09:29
I got my play.
01:10:17
Now married second time around.
01:10:19

01:10:20
True Starts could take out anybody and s So how does the Geico commercial come about? My wife ordered it back on TV, and, uh, she's kind of like, you know, kind of like that.
01:10:33
I didn't really care.
01:10:34
We did.
01:10:35
The remarks were not, but actually that, you know, she did the commercial and had a fire.
01:10:39
Was little a lady was actually accomplish Broadway actress is that my life's in the commercial.
01:10:45
Look, you're gonna get my one Mister Merchant's, which was so hair up with nails and a pedicure changing office, she wound up on on the editing room.

01:16:54
Early eighties.

01:26:42
