Welcome to my reaction video to the Packers.
Now, very recent victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
So my name is Kyle Sandra, managing editor for full press coverage Packers as well as full press coverage.
Um, so a big takeaway from this scheme, I would say, is, uh, first off for the Vikings. Dalvin.
Cook had a career best.
I think it was 154 rushing rushing yards.
So, uh, good on him for that.
And also good on the packers to that day when he did run the ball so well, they were still able to come out with the victory.
Uh, for the most part, he was held in check.
He had the big 75 year run.
That was close, but half his yardage, Uh, something that they actually managed Thio open pretty well.
No cook still ran for quite a few first downs.
Um, the continued, how good of a running back he is.
I'd say I've actually pretty impressed with how the run defense has done not just in this game, but also in the bear's victory.
So that's a really good sign.
If that was one thing I was entering the season how the linebacking corps would do.
Uh, speaking of linebackers, PJ Goodson played in this game.
We want it didn't really seem any defensive snaps a penny.
Um, they prefer to use a rave in green and run 56 defensive backs, often against the Bears.
They did that sometimes against the Vikings, but really dimension to third downs.
They kept their base defense, a lot of kids and actually played pretty well, so it's a good trade for them to make so early in the season.
Hopefully, he could get caught up with the defense and become a bigger part, Um, as yes.
So on the rest of defense, I guess what I was impressed with was how much penetration they were gaining on past rushes.
Dean Lowry was constantly in the backfield.
One thing I've been talking about is Kenny Clarke being able to start commanding double teams and didn't always happen.
He took some double teams sometimes and it really opened things up for Burgess teammates.
Car came up with a few good play, especially early.
Um, it was a it was a first down and this is right after the Alison touchdown eso It was 14.
Nothing at this point.
And, um Oh, sorry.
Yeah, because they kicked a field goal.
Sporting to three at this point.
And so you think the Vikings could use a good drive to current gain momentum? And then suddenly Dalvin Cook one of the few times he didn't gain yards on a run.
Kenny Clarke came through, beat his man.
Um, and you double team on the next play.
And then it allowed Darius Smith, uh, to tackle cook.
Uh, I think it was just a three yard keen.
And then, uh, that's when the that.
Then then that's what preceded the fumble on Kirk Cousins in the sack on lead.
Two or more points for the Packers.
Um, so I mean, I wasn't I wasn't really good sequence at the start of the game where they were able to, you know, on the opening drive, Justin go down with such ease, offense and the defense really will be held well for most the game.
They're putting a lot of tough situations.
Turn the ball over three times.
Well, the defense was able to force three turnovers of their own.
And even that came out.
It was it was a tough battle.
Um, one thing I'll say Kevin Kingo White.
A Bid by Stefan Diggs, which I guess is to be expected.
Really great receiver.
But King kind of came up with the big plate.
The end intercepted Kirk cousins in the red zone, which maybe was a force throw similar to last week against Travis Key.
I know that was mentioned during the broadcast.
Uh, certainly prepares it wasn't lost on me.
And, uh, yes, our king kept getting burned a couple times.
He got beat bad by digs on the touchdown Dick caught in the third quarter.
And so it was a good redemption for him that showed that even though, you know, it's the, you know, with the defensive back.
Always want the short memory, right.
You're gonna get burned.
You still got to go and make the place, and you can put the big interception in the end zone.
Uh, at a point when the Vikings were driving in, could have easily made that a two point game with the field goal.
At this point, it was 2116 which was the final score.
Um, that's a big play by King there.
Uh, most of you did really well.
I saw a lot of Kevin King on so much Ramon Williams.
Uh, so the king was tested, ready, covering stuff on digs.
There's a great receiver, but unfortunately just couldn't hold his own often.
But then, like I said when he needed to make the big play, so good sign for the young defensive back who's expected to, you know, kind of shadow teams number two receivers.
And the fact that Alexander was on feeling often really tells you how the Packers, you, the Vikings.
Likewise to how the Vikings would be attackers with how gave your roads news.
Now, the one thing that the package mints they did use Davante Adams slot often on offense, I guess, to get time to transition to the offense of takeaways.
Um, so on on that first driver, I thought it was it was four place.
We could really get into detail of it.
So they start off with the two time and set, which is something that they started to use a lot in the Bears game towards the end, and it really seemed to help with protection.
I'll get a little bit extra blocker.
They Certainly it seems like that's almost their preferred run.
Formation is too tight. Ends.
Uh, Don Vitality did come into the game and as a fullback got some re blocks later on and they were simply blocks get some good gains.
But overall, it seem like the too tight and set was the Packers preference for running anyway.
So they they start off with a tooth head and set.
And it was a really similar play to you.
The big play that Roger student mouth about this can't lean in Week one.
No, really, the only play that game.
I want to, I guess, for the hackers death.
Um, so in both instances, it zone.
Read to the right and it's a fake run.
So you play actions that boots out to the left.
Uh, in last begins the bears.
It was always scamming on the off inside the fields, kind of running free, writing that slant over the middle.
Uh, but then on this one, it was Adam's on the same side.
So the idea is, the bank run draws everyone on that side in, and then I was able to get behind everybody.
Gets a big 30 35 yard playing.
That's the advance.
The first play the game, Right? So right off the bat, that package came up gunning that used a no huddle offense a lot, uh, but less on third down, sir.
Well, it really seems that huddle.
But on those drives, at first, when they when they were rolling in a lot of no huddle.
So look for the Packers to continue to do that.
The very next play they run with two running backs set and they run Aaron Jones in motion.
Which they used Thio, too.
Then, uh, pitch it to him and, uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, they used to pitch to him.
And then I actually got a good block from Jimmy Grammy.
And one thing I know, I'll give Gammas Grandma's credit.
He didn't have a catch in this game.
Sure, certainly made his presence felt with some key blocks of times.
Uh, one time he was supposed to cover down hunter and pastoral.
I'm not gonna bleed gram for losing.
That was kind of a scheme mistake when the very few for the offensive line as later on, though, So the you know, using that to running back said it first, which I thought was really interesting with Jones and Williams and really seemed to confuse the defense to where they would go.
Uh, it's how they scored.
The Open cuts down the game.
They used the two running backs that the previous play had the pitch to Jones.
That's something that true things to Jones.
It left Williams open on the other side in the next 15 years.
Speed pass for a touchdown.
That was that. So they started.
So that was a us It was everything you wanted to see with what floor said he was gonna bring the miss directions, uh, sort of using things that are creative and using plays that set up off each other.
Right? So the first play of the two running backs that will you run Jones out, you're pitchy on the draw.
It opens up the defense to go after him on the next play, where you could go back with Williams, right? That's so sort of these, like sequences where one place gonna build upon the next and one fake is gonna leave until the in the defense defense is mine to exploit later.
That's that's really the beauty of the floor office.
That's where things were gonna be the key, really.
And we saw in this game and it worked at times, and it really caught the Vikings off guard.
And then something that play calling got a little.
That's a much stale but you know, started Go back to more traditional sides.
I could mention used on vitality is a full back later on.
Still doing that too tight End set.
Uh, three wide receiver set was there drawing.
Alison got involved and didn't see a target in the Bears game, which I know I was incredibly surprising.
Disappointed about, but came up in a big way. Got the touchdown.
Hey, unfortunately, fumbled eso doesn't part. It's afterwards.
That's gonna be something. So watch out.
Really? The only reliable receiver today was that he only you may have caught every target.
I know he didn't.
There's a pass breakups, but you don't drop anything.
Uh, you know, you got open off in is always there to make plays.
Made a key. First down.
Grab their grab four first down late in the game when they're trying to kill the clock and milk it.
So on that final drive, the Packers ended up hunting with the boat and the image of Vikings got the ball back with, like, five seconds left on offense.
Wasn't enough time to run anything but throw underneath.
And they had the tryto lateral its way up in Thio Touchdown, which obviously didn't work.
So, um, it was a game of available, say, to half.
But it was like 1/4 to 3/4 Packers were up 21 up right away, uh, that they they were really, uh, going through on offense.
And, uh uh, so I mean, I look at those touchdowns.
I mentioned the 1st 1 with the two running backs sets on the Alison touchdown.
They actually had developed a Adams in the backfield.
So suddenly you're drawing extra defenders to Oh, no, Davante Adams.
I could use the package number one target, right? So it's drawing guys away.
Ted, you know, one of the few plays Alison played in this lot of that a couple times it actually had some spread sets.
Bring another Jimmy Graham to the outsider of running back Jones to the outside and allowed to slot receivers to be on the fields.
We got Adams and and Alison in space.
No, you are just ableto it gets poisoned with that, Um so whenever they could put roads on Adam's, the Vikings did.
And when when they did that Trae Waynes that uncovered about the scanning.
And then whenever Adams was kind of in a sliding the roads off.
So it was good. Thio.
You know the Packers to kind of drop that game plan and get out.
Adam's in the slot more, perhaps against less season pass rushes, as the Bears and Vikings have, Something may be less of a user.
Adam's lesson sophomore Alison, this lot, but I think for now, uh, the field temple of Atoms in the slot and they're gonna design plays that where he's gonna get opening.
It's gonna be a lot of stuff.
Uh, I like that they were using the running backs and passing to the owner backs behind the long beyond the line of scrimmage.
One play, where Jones is covered by a linebacker in the linebacker, accepted a job to break up the past, but it was a nice design on it.
So I saw the Packers go up 21.
Um, And then, uh, there's a 47 yard field goal, miss.
Um, and and then Viking division agents for field goals.
And it started toe sort amount to come back that way.
And he needed, uh, 21 to 10 and then 2113 and then 2116.
So Ah, actually, no, sorry.
They get the point after that's what it was.
Yeah, there's a penalty, right? That's what it was.
So the, uh, it's going to take that field goal, then Dalvin Cook had that big 75 yard touchdown run, which was again when the only times he really broke free.
So it was good on the Packers defense to mostly keeping thinking again.
He had a career high, so it's tough to really call them congratulating with a great job.
But it could have been a lot worse containing him Thio after that, you know, with with a 75 yard run, of course, he's probably gonna have a career day and only holding 2 75 yards 80 yards for the rest of the place the rest of game.
I think that was pretty good on the Packers events, considering I mentioned the offense, turned the ball over, left the defense in tougher positions.
I think special teams dominated Not so much this game this game did.
It seems that the Vikings do have a good special teams, you know, kind of match the Packers.
They only think they lost the game on special teams, don't you think they wanted not either.
Field position Battle was tough, huh? And it was really a lot better job in the offense.
Controlling a field position, portion game and driving.
You know, not there were a lot of three announced.
They're definitely happen in the second half where they started to just Yeah, it was tough to start converting and, uh, get on the Vikings to adjust what the Packers were doing.
But I felt like more creative things that we saw in the opening to three drives.
Gonna need tohave it more things got kind of predictable, and so that's gonna be something that they're gonna have to work out, that it seems that they get a lot more creative on passing plays and you are running once it's gonna come back.
Thio, Can you stop is even though you know we're gonna run.
Where's when the Packers air early in the game and you know the playbooks open to them past run.
They can use a lot of those tendencies to think running Thio past to get leaves and then, once they're on leaves, comfortably talk about with running.
But to be honest, it's tough to kind of, you know, it was easy for teams to see when they wanted to run at these late again.
When you know when it's when it's late and they're choosing to run and it's gonna happen, that's I know.
That's my only concern.
Can they start making creative plays that involved a running game? I think we'll start to see more sweep soon and more outside think that? No, they they fake it a lot.
They baked sweets toe NBS last week, something this week to kind of build off that I think teams are starting to buy into the realize that its soul just fakes, so if they can, you know, thinking use that to their advantage and actually run some of those sweeps that mean that may help to it could be an extension of the run game.
Like, as I mentioned on the second touchdown, it was throw from cousins to Jake's.
A really long one.
Um, a 50 yarder, 60 ardor.
And I get that Kevin King got beat.
Uh, it's funny joke here.
Alexandra was covering dealing on the opposite side You so fast.
He actually came in.
He almost intercepted it.
Not king uh, really kind of showing, You know, he's He's left number one Know who the Packers real number one corner is, even though we already knew.
So King again for for in teams number two receiver.
If that's how they're reviewing gigs, that's an amazing number two receiver.
You're not really gonna see many teams that that much of a dynamic duo, uh, at receiver.
So King probably won't have to cover another town to receiver like that for the rest of the year.
I don't got deck Gala coming up soon.
Team's been illegal longer.
Someone who king could kind of say as more strange then, um but yeah, So it wasn't difficult for him to him.
Well, but like I said, good on him to get that interception at the end really helped seal the victory and again really showed his mentality.
And even though he got burned a few times and he still out there the ball and to be fair on that interception, you did kind of get beat as well.
But cousins had to escape the pocket and scrambling.
He couldn't get the ball out as quickly as he wanted to you, so it allowed King to close the gap on digs.
It was in the end zone.
So again you start to run out of real estate, right? He undercut the past real well.
Um, it was almost one of those where he was off enough to kind of goat cousins into throwing it and cousins do it and he had the pick.
I don't know if that was necessarily intentional or it's just it took him a little time to catch up off gigs, but again it worked.
It wasn't pretty, and again the offense didn't score.
I think that I guess they scored the second, the third touchdown early in the second quarter, but for most of that game for close to 3/4.
They didn't score a single point.
So, uh, it does remind the Packers of Ultimate used to come out guns blazing and then sort of left the game and I slipped slip back into a contest.
It happened again. I mean, a 21.
And and then you only win 2116.
Uh, it's a little concerning, uh, that being said big, take away.
The Packers are, too.
No, they've had to division games, one of one on the road.
It did their job and took care of business at home against the Vikings.
And as much as it's, it's ugly, it's winds.
So that's good news there.
There's a lot to clean up, but the Packers can kind of hold himself a little bit for the head of the division.
Now I know the Lions won.
Today, there's the Broncos.
There's a good chance that all three teams in division will be at one win, and then the Packers are two wins.
It'll be kind of a game up on everybody, but it's nice to be one game up.
It's gonna be a grind all year for that division on thinkers you need to pay.
I'll get the lines are there could be four legit contenders to win it, but I think, seriously, three and all three of those teams, I think, have Super Bowl aspirations.
I know the Bears Amazing defense.
The Vikings weren't there.
That Bongo Packers have one of the best quarterbacks in the league, so all three teams can kind of look at that and say We have a real chance of the Super Bowl.
We gotta win this division first cause there's going to other teams with that kind of feel the same way and disrespect the Lions, Who again? I really shouldn't have a Packers fan because you have a four game win streak against Hackers Right now, I want to be the last four at Lambeau.
So it's definitely gonna be something later on this season that the package is going to take care of business against Alliance when the rest of these division games and that's the best kind of half success in this division is toe toe.
Take those division wins and so far there they've got two of the six right, so we'll see if they can continue.
Certainly, like the signs of the offense.
Only six penalties today, which is nice.
Uh, four on offense.
Let's see what we got here.
We got a couple of all starts, which again? That's that plague coming up the Bears.
There's there's a couple rule change toe, false starts.
Uh, we're really you know, you only have the one motion man and even the quarterback get called on first false starts for making too many moves and stuff like that.
So that's like that.
They're gonna have to continue to be careful of knew these hundreds.
But I'll start on Lindley, who also had a really bad snap that led to a fumble, Uh, kind of concerning there in terms of offensive line play.
It was pretty solid.
Um, I kind of not ragged on, but I definitely pointed out that lane.
Kayla made a lot of mistakes in the Bears game evenly played 100% of the snaps, and then it started the whole year.
I really felt this was a game that you need to kind of prove it, prove that you deserve that spot.
And I actually think he played pretty well today.
Uh, there weren't.
The problem with against the Bears is that there were so many, uh, pressure's off the middle, that it forced runners outside all the time.
And it just where is today's game? It was more than the pressure coming from the outside of the runners had toe have timeto.
You know, it wasn't right up with a Jap write.
It is especially on a quarterback to you.
And, uh, when I win, you're free.
When you have a defender kind of right in your face, it's tougher when defenders come out the edges a little easier to step up and get around them.
So they did a great job there.
Um, as always blocked hardblogger were pretty good.
Uh, there's, um, pretty good pass rushers.
I think the only mistakes really in pass protection came again.
Got yet Guys like Jimmy Graham trying to block.
You know, Hunter, that that wasn't really great schematically.
So that's maybe something that picks up coaching wise is, uh, make sure you know Jimmy Graham walking, you know, all pro level pass rushers.
Um, I think you mean he was pretty close to lead me in sacks last year, so that's that's definite not great schematically, but, uh, say Layne Taylor did make some good place.
You get in, you need some good blocks in the run game.
Uh, he definitely really stepped up in this game.
Didn't allow a lot of Russia's to get through immediately, like you did with the Bears against the Bears.
So, uh, that was a good sign on that, I guess. Really.
The offense aligned to kind of point out more in this game is Cortland of the center.
You had a lot of great players, just a couple of plays.
The false start penalty, which it's a penalty.
But you can live with them that Yeah, really low snap, which I mean, that was really the only one in the game.
L Every snap is dead on, except for that one Most Mabon since center a rare anomaly, but end up writing Rogers feats.
And, uh, I think what we have happening is Jamal Williams, as he ran by, kind of kicked in.
Roger's wasn't able to grab it off the ground and banded, fumbling in that one, and the Vikings were covered.
Thankfully, not too much came of it.
That might have been one of the touchdown.
That might have been the digs.
Touchdown, actually, Um, yeah. Yeah.
So they got that.
We got those six points off touchdown.
And then there's a penalty on the play, actually, digs after the touchdown took off, his helmet and celebration got flagged. For that.
The Packers chose to take the penalty on the conversion attempt, which actually was a good idea because being done by five.
The Vikings probably gone for two, you know, from the two yard line.
But if you're suddenly having to go for two from the 12 yard line that it's a new boat, so they have to they have to kick it.
And then the packaging, the blocking it.
So, uh, I mean at that 0.
35 point 34 point victory doesn't really matter.
But still it, uh, get on the special teams to come up with plays.
That kind of kind of shifted things when you needed thio.
Um, yeah, I think overall again victories.
The victim e gotta be happy with it, but they're certainly a lot of things the Packers can improve on.
But there's also a lot of really encouraging signs.
This defense seems like it's legit.
One concern gets to one concern.
And there's two players that are significant start contributors on defense that left him with injuries.
Rave in green list left pretty early, and while he didn't play too much here, use a big factor in the Bears game and teams of lab spread offenses.
He plays a lot of times of role is a hybrid safety linebacker.
Eso having six defensive backs in the fields? Keep having him out there.
So, um, they did run that six TV? Uh, that sometimes even when he was gone.
So it's not like he's the only one who could do.
But he's certainly excels at. It's great.
I mean, I guess the Berries he played 77% of the snap, so he was Ah, big factor there.
Eso losing him is gonna get hurt as any player, but we hope he's okay.
Uh, perhaps even bigger concern was towards the end of the game, so we don't know severity.
Too much of a Darius Smith went down, and we'll have to keep it updated on his status, but, uh, shot green started shot.
Gary started coming in and, uh, got some work so, uh, hoping he doesn't have to be too much of, Ah, regular member of the defense was hoping that that area Smith will be healthy.
Okay, but again, hoping more so than for the team.
Just hope that he's okay.
And then he's able to contribute to the Packers because as a pass rusher, he's really into great tackler.
Uh, really Up turned this defense around this year.
I think it's in some of the key additions.
He was one of them, and the past rushes is definitely ain't home.
Cousins actually did a pretty great job of buying time, scrambling out, going away balls when he was about to go down and get sacked.
And he completed one pass when he was looked like he was about to get sacks and being a big reception for Chad BB.
I mean, he went down to the five yard line there, and then, uh, how did that end? I was That was the field goal, actually.
Yeah, that was the field goal. Dr.
So and again good on the packers defense to hold them from the five yard line.
And, uh, there was an offensive pass interference penalty on digs.
So and I know it was the most obvious call.
Maybe got a little lucky there, but they were certainly more disciplined in the Vikings, I think the Viking that almost double the amount of penalties the Packers Day so, uh, good for the Packers to stay disciplined.
But yet there's concern with Za'darius Smith concerned with Raven Green.
Um concerned that the offense gets too predictable when they teams know they're gonna run.
And the play calling gets predictable when they're right and that the most interesting play calls seem to come in the passing game.
But I feel like the one the next step for this offense is Thio.
Uh, you can have use that misdirection on run plays and really try and figure out ways to keep the clock going and still gaining positive yards with the run game.
But not making it obvious what's gonna happen and kind of fooling the defense.
That's the next step for this offense, because I think the misdirection is working with the passing game, the note, the no huddle, the uptempo offense that that was all great.
And then once they went away from that.
It's when they couldn't score points and they didn't manage to move the ball.
But some turnovers really cost him.
So clean up the turn over certain.
We'll, uh, we'll help in that regard.
But great victory for the defense of the offense.
Special teams it well, too.
Uh, complimentary football's what you talk about him, you know? Go 21.
Nothing in factory open the 16.
That was enough.
But, uh, definitely don't wanna I don't want to win too many games were scoring zero points for, you know, about 70% of the game.
So, uh, yeah, some things to work on.
But I think you can always be happy with Packers victories.
