What's that? What's up? We are back.
We are live here.
We are talking about the game that happened just yesterday.
Panthers versus the Rams.
Couldn't get on to stream last night at a shoot.
I didn't like to videos yesterday, one tonight, but we're back and we're doing this one talking about the game, and I want to talk more about organ to the stats little bit more.
I talked more about how the game looked, how the game felt last night or yesterday afternoon.
I talked about more about how how the game plan looked and missed opportunities a couple of times where there were just some some bad turnovers.
But I didn't really get into this debts.
I spoke more on on on the team's culture in my YouTube video.
So today I do want to talk a little bit more about some more concrete things because the game first that the Rams for me, at least for me, there's good games in this bad games.
If I don't want to talk about, I don't get like a whole you know the college thing about there's there's bad losses.
Then there's quality losses.
Goodwin's know what kind of stuff.
But for me, when it comes to a loss, not all loss of the same, though, people say that lost the loss.
And that's true from, like the from the from the record perspective.
But for me, being a Panther's fan for the last couple years, well, I'm a fan for a long time.
But after watching the payment of the last few years, I've noticed something like a trend that's been going on.
We've been losing Ah, lot of very close games, one score games.
I think we're in the teens now for a number of of one score games that we've lost.
And it's getting to be really, really annoying because for some people like they might say that that the games where you get blown out like the Steelers game last year, that's the worst game for us.
Look, the Steelers game.
It was very clear very early.
There was le Camps and everything that game any later than the first half that the game was out of hand out of reach.
It was it was it got ugly quick.
It got dark very fast, so that game was bad.
But I always feel a lot worse about the losses we take.
What it's a three point loss.
We have chances late in the game, like the Seattle game last year, like the Detroit game last year.
Like, uh, well, the Giants game.
We actually won very, very late 60 yard field goal, so I'm cool with that.
But there's been several games I get to all of them, But, uh, there's been a ton of games.
Was the Browns game closely? I don't know.
The Browns game was what was really ever in our grasp seriously.
But we've had a lot of games over the last couple years where we've had chances in the last few minutes in the last couple possessions, that we could have actually won the game, or at least or at least, uh, taking a stand and got a few stops to give myself the opportunity to win games.
And we just did not.
And those are the ones that hurt the most.
The ones where you know you have a shot, the ones where the ones where you think it has had one more thing.
One more shot we had.
This one thing would have changed.
We could have won this game, not the games were.
Look, 21 point blowouts or or double digit losses.
That's those Those look worse on the record books, but the ones that hurt the most are the ones where you can point to a single moment in the game and say, That's where we really, really messed up And just that one opportunity late could have helped us out.
And that's how I thought this Rams game.
But with the Rams game yesterday, it really wasn't like it was One moment there was several moments where I felt like maybe if this hadn't happened, they have a better shot.
Look, that deejay fumble very early.
That didn't kill the entire game because our defense was holding up really good, and we're again stops after stops under stops.
No one scored in the first quarter, so that didn't kill the Panthers then.
But I think we're moving the ball pretty well.
I think we had a lot of things going for us.
That film about D.
J was, well, it is a big issue now.
I think that he fumbles again before the 646 weeks.
I think you have to call him fumble prone.
What's it called? It's not formal problem.
It's I don't know what it is, but he's gotta work out some issues.
And the waiting for me is that going into the offseason, it was pretty clear that the on Lee you the only issue for today more was was ball security.
Duca run Chris Brown's he can run.
He can no work out in the slot he can right outside.
The dude's nice.
He can catch really good hands.
He can break tackles.
You got some moves on him, so I think he's gonna be the most agile dude out there.
But he can put the moves on you in the open space, but too many fumbles.
And I feel like going into this offseason, that really should have been really the really only the only big thing for him to actually work on was ball security, and I think that it was it was worked on.
It wasn't worked on well enough.
He got the ball straight, punched out of his hands.
That's not what you want to see.
That is not what you want to see in the game? First game back, that formal really hurt us.
And then Cam's pick camp, it was bad.
Can't speak was it was It wasn't pretty at all.
It was kind of like a They were Monami Oven, Andy Dalton, kind of pig stone up there.
Not really much of a chance for a receiver to get. It was, It was.
It was a pretty, pretty easy one for the defense.
I call it that was another missed opportunity, But I don't want to just talk about the turnovers because it wasn't just like the turnovers with the big issue.
I didn't like the play calling was not a fan of the play calling.
And Ellen No, it was a play calling.
Maybe was just the decision making.
Cam went 25 or 38 last night, which is 65% completion, which is pretty good for Cam.
You take 55% completion rate from your quarterback every single game.
That's a good African completion rate.
65% is actually great for camp, but that's respectable from anyone in the league.
But 71% of Cam's attempts.
We're from the range of behind the line of scrimmage to 10 yards past line of scrimmage.
Those all count as short yardage passes.
That's not what you want to see.
That's just not what you want to see.
How your quarterback throwing a bunch of check downs and you can.
I've seen people talk about about Tom Brady saying, Well, Tom Brady, those Onley touch Only check downs are Tom Brady.
Those a lot of check downs, bro.
You saw what it holds out in with James White last year.
So Michel last year.
And I'll tell you right now, I agree.
I agree that Tom Brady throws a lot of check downs, but you're forgetting something here.
We're not talking about guys about guys doing check downs thing.
We're saying that I'm talking about Cam basically on Lee throwing check downs.
We gotta talk about it.
We'll bring in Tom Brady That makes talk about how many passes past 10 yard.
She throws Campbell one through nine passes between 10 and 20 yards and only one pass that went further than 20 yards through the air yesterday.
If we're gonna compare Cam Newton to Tom Brady with their with their check down passes.
We have to also take into account how many passes Tom Brilliant chips past 10 yards.
How many passes past 20 yards that Tom Brady attempts? I promise you, which is more than two promises more than one. Not to.
I promise it was more than one.
I promise you, this is 10 to 20 yard range is more than nine, so I don't want to sell it.
I'm like making out going hard on camera, going and on campus on the issue here.
My biggest problem is that you're not gonna win a whole lot of games checking it down a bunch.
And it's also kind of weird because people I talked to, they all went straight to Tom, Brady said.
Oh, yeah, well, well, about Tom Brady, who works for him, checking down and apart from the whole Tom Brady.
Also fellas deep.
Sometimes that's one example of a guy who was a checkdown.
Artists No one ever mentioned Alex Smith.
No one ever mentioned Deck Prescott.
Before you got Mark Cooper.
No one mentioned who else I want to call Mario.
Chicano artists I wouldn't call Kurt Cousins had some times where he was checking down Ah lot and he was on Lee.
Who would he he takes safe passes.
So it's stats look good, Especially late in games.
You would take very safe passes, especially on third and long.
He just make sure you got a completion and got some yards.
Didn't like that out of him.
I didn't like that out of him, but I wouldn't really call.
Kirk checked on artists, especially not now.
Now is a little on the Vikings.
I mean, you got weapons.
I g I I can't hate on, but there were times when he's on the Redskins, where he basically was a checkdown artist.
But that's the point I'm making.
I'm not calling.
Can you check on artists? I'm just saying that our scheme is starting to get very, very predictable.
Is becoming a pitching cat.
Chess Ah, pitching catch session for Christian McCaffrey and Cam knew and pitching cash. Chester.
I can't say it. Ah, pitching catch session.
Jesus, But look.
Christian had 19 carries last night.
129 yards are 28 yards, yet Tim catches for 81 yards.
Look 209 yards or 209 yards, 29 touches That's a good day.
That's a really good day for a quick McCaffrey.
200 yards in, ah, 200 yards through from from scrimmage.
Appreciate you, 20 ticks.
Thanks for the love, my brother, but almost 30 touches in the first game.
I'm a cool with Chris McCaffrey getting the touches.
Everyone loves Christian getting his touches, bro.
I'm 100% straight with that.
My issue is when Christian McCaffrey is on the field for literally every single snap of the game.
Now we talked about this before and in the off season.
More specifically, maybe it was like three weeks ago.
Three or four weeks ago, Coach was talking about how Christian's gonna be getting hold up.
Swaggy with the 100 ticks and the whistle, the civil whistle.
My captain, what is good with you? I appreciate that, but we're talking about how Christian McCaffrey was gonna be.
Maybe not given they would not have his touch is taken away, But sometimes hey, be off the field, he wouldn't really be.
He wouldn't be a one protection the field for the same 97.
1% of the snaps he was in last year.
Maybe let some other guys get him.
Maybe let some other guys block for for Cam on the passing downs when he's not going out for a route.
And we saw Ah, play where Dante Fowler got in free and it was Dante Fowler Jr versus Christian McCaffrey, one on one.
I will tell you this right now.
There's not a single time.
Christian McCaffrey is winning that battle, but his face up.
Not a single time, well, Christian McCaffrey win in a blocking battle in a rush battle with Dante Fowler Jr.
Angle happened, Really, angle happened.
Now I don't know if Reggie Bonnafont could have joined a scarlet.
Maybe I don't know too much about doing Scarlett's blocking.
What skills are really see? I don't know how he did in college blocking wise, but maybe you have a better time out there than in Christian.
And at least at the very least, it's gonna sound kind of bad.
But at the very least, if we have joined a scholar, someone else back there blocking joining any any, any, any guy who's coming in free if they were to get hurt, it be a lot smaller of a loss.
Then, if then, if Chris McCaffrey were to get hurt by an offensive on edge rusher fit seven.
Ed Rush or whatever you wanna call it is a linebacker standing up hand the dirt.
I'd rather not risk this man.
Chris McCaffrey getting hit numerous times.
I saw I feel about it.
So seeing him on the field for every single down last night, it's the things the things build up.
After a while, these things do build up, and I don't want to see a situation where we give Chris McCaffrey 350 touches last year.
Foreign touches this year.
And then when he's up for what was he has one more year of his deal.
He had a four year deal.
Wait, I think it's 1/5 year.
Option two is the first round.
Yeah, so he has four years and an option.
We're probably gonna read them up.
Most likely, we're looking at some running back contracts getting really ridiculous.
I think Z got 50 mil.
Guaranteed, right? Was at 35 was a 50.
I think it was actually don't even know it might have been 35 but I'm maybe I'm tripping, but I feel like it was 50.
It could be 35 but the point is, the point is, these running back contracts are not going down.
And Christian McCaffrey is basically next up in line sake.
One has a few more years.
Did Al can marry? Just get another deal? I don't know.
Um, he got his money, I think.
What's the McCaffrey might really be the next running back up for a for a contract.
All the next running back who could potentially set the market.
If I'm wrong, let me know.
But I think I think Christian McCaffrey is the next running back who could reset the market.
I can't think I can't really think about right now.
I wouldn't know what years I'm camari in.
Just about what? You're welcome here, then, because it could be him.
It was only 24 yeah, that's right.
That's right. That's right.
So they could be around the same time. Except Evan Camaro.
Was he a first round pick? No.
Use 1/3 round pick, and I'm pretty sure they don't have.
They don't have ah have options for third round picks.
I'm pretty sure so it might be Alvin Kamara first.
And I guarantee you, I guarantee you, if I'm a comm arid, if he goes on the market before Chris McCaffrey, he will reset the market and it's gonna be going up.
So Al Camaros contract's gonna be up.
Not this year, but next year, which is that you're before a Christian.
If we don't sign question before Alvin Kimera Christians, number's gonna be through the roof either that we're gonna use him a bunch.
It's gonna go the DeMarco Murray way.
I really don't want to see us.
I wrote. I don't want to see us.
Um, I don't want to see us franchise tag.
Christian McCaffrey, brother if CMC gets gets franchise tag.
Honestly, I hate I hate watching running backs get franchised, especially after they pick up their fifth year option.
That's not for me.
It's in the C v a.
But for me, I don't like it at all.
I'm getting off this still.
I mean, I I I'm getting kind of kind of deep into Chris McAfee by himself.
But the game in general was a situation where we saw both teams look really, really good.
And then both teams looked like they really didn't want it.
I mean, the Rams had times where their defense was bad.
Front seven did not look good at all.
We completely shut down Aaron Donald, who I still believe is the best player in the game right now.
But he only had one tackle.
This man is a 60 minute game.
Four full quarters of American NFL football in Aaron.
Donald only had one tackle, no sex against the Carolina Panthers offensive line.
If you would have told me that before this game started, I will.
You crazy Layla and Donald Low.
You tell you, somebody here in Donald and I don't give a fuck this man his men and Donald, you put you put you double team this man.
This man O'Donnell's what? 58 That's where they spend.
And O'Donnell is so short to do this match short.
And he's ripped for being a fat due to I don't even know, bro.
I don't know what it is.
This dude is ripped for being Ah ah, short, bigger, stocky Dude, do probably got like he probably on that, uh, on that on that decay Metcalf that decay Metcalf diet that he came.
Metcalf Workout plan.
I know what it is, but dude, his rip for defensive end or for defensive tackle.
Hole up for a tackle, for it into your linemen.
But I'm only getting one tackle all game against our line is a blessing.
Do you consider? You know, basically, we have some really good looks from our from our guys from our weapons on offense.
Deejay more got seven catches.
He got seven catches for 76 yards.
That's don't Greg Olsen.
I was kind of worried about great.
I thought myself.
Look, we don't know how long we're gonna get Greg.
I want to see if he's favoring that foot.
I want to see if he's if if he's running fast enough, if he's.
If Marcie I was blocking looks, because when you're when you're blocking, you do have to use your feet as your base, and I want to see if the if ah, and I want to see if it was blocking, would Would would take a hit with the way his his foot situation is because if you can't block, it's kind of hard to be a tight end.
Let's go be standing up on Lee in five y sets or yeah, five white sets.
What up, Super fam? Chris MCAT was insane.
Yeah, bro Do is disgusting.
And so it is a situation where I want accomplish McCaffrey the best running back in football.
But we're no weird time.
Where we have three or four young, we have three.
We have four very young running backs who are all immensely talented.
You got Christian got Camaro, you got Say, kwon you have You have Zeke, all these guys I have left.
Then I think they have only thing Chris McCaffrey has three years.
Zik Zik was in his what? Thanks.
In his third year, what is his fourth year? The league.
I think it was his thinks is his third year, right? No, no, I think he, I think, was his third year.
But, uh, knows this forthis his fourth year in a little Zeke's one year, one year older than Christian.
All these dudes are real nice.
It's kind of weird toe.
Anything about Levy on Belle didn't play last year.
I mean, you could make an argument that push McCaffrey is either the fifth best running back or he's the second best running back, right? I.
It's hard for me to take take sake one out of the mix, because when you consider Steak want Barclays numbers last year 1300 yards, it puts him in a class of his own.
But then you gotta consider what he did.
He did behind that New York Giants offensive line, a New York Giants team that had Eli Manning as their quarterback in a situation where most teams relied.
Look, huh? If you really want to make, if you really wanna let your life though the ball, you can let go of the ball.
But right now we're gonna pack the box and we're gonna We're gonna try to stop, say, Quan, and a new sequel was the best player still gonna stop him.
There was so many times, think one was getting hit behind the line of scrimmage and then making making like 57 yards after that Wild bro. Really wild.
But Chris McCaffrey is definitely.
You could argue him between two and five, and it'll be really hard for me to call you a liar I believe I believe anywhere between two and five.
You could convince me he's better than Zeke.
Commitment is better than advocate.
Well, actually, I think he's better than Albert Kimera, but you could probably argue Album Camaro ahead of him.
Uh, that's the one I'd actually give you the most pushed back on.
I think Christian is about Malcolm era, especially considering when you're playing against the Saints, you have to worry about Drew Brees more than Cam.
Yeah, about Mac Michael Thomas more than you do d.
J more or occurred of Samuel, especially last year.
I mean, in the last year also had Mark Ingram.
So I want Kimera as maybe benefited a little bit more from being on a more high powered offense and having a better defense, which gives your offense more opportunities.
But I won't get into that, aka Mary, Is it a good running back? And you can maybe maybe argue that for me, But maybe not honestly, point is, we have some really good weapons on offense here.
Courtesy will only got three touches and js right only got one catch.
If we're gonna have success this year, we have to spread that ball around a little bit more.
I really want to see Christine.
We're going to get the get the flow a bit more.
I Was he jealous? Right? Getting a little bit more If we're gonna be writing all these slants off this quick slants every other plate.
I mean, there's no one better on the team for a quick slant than js right? I promise you that.
I promise you that.
I think Chris Hogan only got targeted two or three times wasn't too many times.
He was targeted in that last drive that we scored on where Chris McCaffrey took over again.
22 yard run. Really, really late.
Then Aleks Arma flew over the over the goal line from the one or inches.
Honestly, he was Camp 1000 Nicholas.
But like I said, this is a game between two teams who kind of made it seem like neither one of them really wanted to win.
It was about who wanted to lose less, and the rains wanted to lose just a little bit less than we did.
We had chances we had chances, identically, like how the time imagine was going on late in the game.
That was a bit strange to me, Didn't like.
We only have one timeout left very, very late.
I kind of forgot what happened.
How we how we lost our timeouts.
I don't think it was the same situation as last year where we were just having really bad clock management.
Early on, we had a burned timeouts on plate block issues only it was that, but still core Littleton kind of hurt us cortisone to kind of hurt us.
I didn't get a PIC, I think.
Yeah, he pick in a forced fumble.
The kind of felt like the Bears game from 2017 where, where Mr Boesky didn't do anything, the quarterback wasn't really the issue for us in this game or against the Bears.
Two years ago, it was a random player on defense.
He got a fumble, six scoop and score, and he had a pick.
Michelle Hiskey went four for seven.
I think I think it was like 50 yards 60 yards and Eddie Jackson carry them without those takeaways from Coin Littleton.
This this game against the Rams would have been sealed and then it wasn't meant to take aways like we talked about their takeaways, our takeaways could.
He had a couple defense, stood up office and offered to defensive lines.
Really impressed me.
Hold up my even.
About what? A second. A second yellow superfan. My brother, My brother.
Why you do the statements of the Steelers like that, bro? Wait, wait.
We'll talk about the game.
Hold up, hold up.
I got a patriot fan in here or I did.
At least maybe he's gone now, but there is no reason there's There's not a single reason under the sun that you did to the painted into the steel is what you did.
Now that right there was a hate crime.
I don't know if you know what the laws are in your in your local area, but by definition, what you did to the Steelers was a hate crime, and I thank you for it.
Thank you for your service.
I had to listen to a lot of Steelers fans.
Talk a lot of things.
They were saying a lot of things after our Thursday night game against them last year.
I know is we scored more than three points now.
They escorted out 142 on us.
They square about 130 on us, But but But Well, look, that that we did not look as bad as them both.
They had they were calling timeouts, begging, begging big.
Been praying that he would get that you were gonna touch down.
There's something going on.
Before the game ended, it was garbage.
They looked like it looked like Big Ben.
Well, first off, like Bill Belcher kind of plan, and he really execute it really well, but it looked like they had you doing a snuggie.
Uh, they had Connor and a Snuggie.
Don't want to get out.
They had him in a brown paper bag.
It was not funny.
Not funny at all.
But back to this game against the Rams, it kind of hurt this game kind of hurt, because is one of those games where you understand.
Yet they acknowledge that at no point was the game really out of reach.
I mentioned about YouTube video that there may come a time that I can I can definitely see.
What? Oh, I can definitely see a scenario where we have to come back from 10 down, our 10 maybe even 14 to start the game and fight, and that's what happened. It was 13 to.
Got three. Matt late in the second.
Went to the half down, 13 to 3.
Then it was 23 toe.
It was 23 to Ah, bingo.
Right, 20 to 10.
And we fought broke.
We had a chance to get a stop on defense.
Could not do it.
But I can't lie, man. The defense.
Look, don't write. The defense will straight. The defense was good.
All game wasn't like consistent.
I think the biggest thing in this game was consistency from both sides.
There was times when the when the Rams offense looked unstoppable.
And mainly it was when Todd Gurley actually finally woke up in a sign that he was a Nen NFL running back again.
He was using a brown paper bag too early in the game way.
We're kind of bagging him and then we start bagging him.
Then I mean, then our offense was looking good sometimes, and then Cam started overthrowing.
He has some immaculate passes, but then he has some really bad overthrows toe receivers who were wide open.
I just look, man, when it comes to Cam's overthrows, I can understand over the player who's in coverage on the run, you know? You know, I look, it's hard being an NFL quarterback you don't opposed.
Maybe over though, it deep.
But we had. We had.
We had, Ah, Greg Olsen sitting down in the zone, squatting No one around him.
First down, Cam overthrows him.
It was a vintage overthrow from camp.
I've seen that exact play that exact throw so many times for so many times before it was bad.
No, the way of putting it.
But I think that last night's or yesterday's game was more encouraging than it was discouraging.
I hate really close losses, really do hate losses that are better lower, like one score losses that could have been wins if a few things would have changed late in the game.
We show a little bit more heart, but us sticking in with the Rams.
Although they don't look, they wear their best look.
They wanted the best, but what I saw was really good from the old line where solid really good from the defense.
James Bradbury's The Monster.
We thought some pretty good tackling up until Todd Gurley got rolling and Tall Girl is gonna do.
He does once he gets moving, so I'm cool with that.
My biggest thing is his camp and Chris McCaffrey's touches.
I don't like him getting somebody touches every single game.
Don't let him let him play 100% of the snaps.
In a lot of these games, I think I'll be straight.
Other than that, I'm feeling really good.
I really do hate that.
Our next game is Thursday.
I don't know who made the decision to allow the on the very first week of an NFL season a team to play on Sunday.
And then that same team turned around four days later and play in the prime time slot US Thursday.
Now I understand short weeks later on in the season when I get it, I really do get it.
But you're telling me that it makes sense for a team, too.
Played two games in the span of four days at the very start of the season.
I don't like it, not a big fan, but it's like offer your day, man.
The Rams game was definitely winnable, but neither team really looked like they wanted to win my big stick away.
Too much inconsistency.
And it looked like we were just kind of were I don't want they were asleep using when there's too many missed opportunities and, uh, and guys not really wanted to win.
You say they look asleep out there.
It was like we were playing at 10 sometimes and then we were playing on, like, four or five other times.
It was really strange, really strange to watch.
But I think against his Bucks team with James Winston, he went yet one touchdown, three receptions just earlier this week.
I'm liking our chances.
I'm liking our chances anyway, man, I'm done amount here, probably back on tomorrow or Wednesday, who knows? But I'll be making videos from you to general all the time.
Check you guys out there.
Be back here soon.
And once again, I really do appreciate you guys coming through and watching.
