Stitcher spotify uh, I'm here in beautiful Phoenixville p a.
Just soaking in the sun Shine in the shade as well but a little bit of sunshine soaking it in after a nice Eagles victory.
Not without its scares and its hiccups.
I did a, um, halftime video here on sportscaster yesterday, and I was very flustered and a little worked up because it was 17 to 7 Redskins at that point. And they were.
The Eagles seemed almost lucky to have a 71 touchdown, which I think came on a 50 yard bombed into Sean Jackson.
Very nice to see that, um so things turned around for the Eagles.
Obviously, they wound up winning 32 to 27.
But before we talk more about that game, I just want to give a shout out to my co hosts.
I have multiple co hosts, but especially Jake the wolf of Broad Street.

There's a lot of great content out.
There are tons of podcasts on, no matter where you are from, whatever your sports team is, you can check them out for a run of good content, lots of articles again, podcast, stuff like that.
And again, thank you to sportscaster for providing this great platform when we can talk about teams, our favorite sports, the drama, all the moments and yeah, let's get into the Eagles, the Eagles one.
So that's the first thing.
So I'm gonna try and stay positive because I know us Philly fans.
We have a rap for being a little bit, uh, you know, a little bit dramatic, a little bit negative.
At times they call Meg Adelphia ins.
We have the, uh, we could be We could be rough.
We could be sensitive.
We certainly are passionate, so let's just sum it all up into that were passionate sports fan days.
Eagles may be the most so out of any of the teams here, although I'm sure flyers hand to disagree.
And obviously, the Sixers have a huge following Phillies.
When there I am.
Well, which they have been lately, They have a great fan basis.
Well, of course, baseball's little different.
There's 163 games football.
We only get 16 right? So we need to be, Ah, 100% onboard and in the in football mode for every game, which we weren't now again, the Eagles were supposed to be 10 point favorites there.
Nah, playing favorites. They didn't cover the spread.
And I said in my prediction, pod prediction Video bet on.
Don't bet on that because I don't like a 10 and 1/2 point spread.
Um, that's just too much.
It's too much to put money on on sort of.
I mean, the Eagles would have covered the spread and not like that last garbage stuff sent in.
Um, but that's what you don't do it because the garbage stuff sound is gonna happen when you bet on those kind of games.
Um, aside from that, I will say that I'm pretty.
I'm pretty happy with my prediction video that I did, I went basically went 19 and 26 when we're talking about, um, correcting the games and also whether or not she bet, Bet those spreads, Uh, and I would have been 2121 for 26 had the Cardinals pulled off that three point win.
You know, if they could have won by a field goal, and I would've had that one right to which you know, was looking a little choice earlier.
But I'm really impressed with Kyla.
Mary and I want to come back to him later.
So if anyone's watching and you and I will bring up Kyla Murray, please take that in to remind me to bring him up.
Anyway, let's talk about the Eagles.
So the things I really liked about the Eagles, where obvious first and foremost Carson Wentz and Sean Jackson that connection right there to have him back in Philly.
It really did look like he hadn't left like he had not aged, you know, because it was down there in Washington for a while, and then he was in Tampa Bay, and you know, he still had those big moments.
He still made big plays for those two teams, but when he was here in Philly before he was, you know, get out the door by Chip Kelly.
He was that he was an unbelievable weapon.
He was like the dude, you know, He was that guy on that team on some of those teams where you go to him, and maybe Westbrook was another one.
But he was one of the most dynamic players we had, and to lose him when we did was was difficult.
I think I think that was one of the things that was one of the first things that really started to sour the fan base on Chip.
And there's other reasons why that ultimately happened as well.
But that was definitely want to get rid of the Sean sort of in his prime.
But it's great to see him here back in Philly and him and Carson Wentz, that seems like it's gonna be a huge connection.
Obviously, if you had either one of them on your fantasy team this week, you did pretty well there.
Um, so that's you know, that's always a good sign.
Ah, and in my in my halftime video that I did yesterday, you have to acknowledge that I I don't regret saying what I said, but I did come off a little bit like a little panicky, which you're down 17 7 a half time.
You probably should be panicking a little bit because they didn't look good.
That pass rush for the Eagles wasn't really effective.
Case Keenum round up a 380 passengers.
If you had predicted, if you told me that was gonna happen before the game started, I would have said you were crazy.
We thought that, you know, our defensive line.
We thought our defensive line was gonna, you know, have a field day with him, and case came and played.
Really well, we only sacked him once.
380 yards missed 30 of 44 8.
6 average, three TDs.
You know, he had a great game.
He had a hell of a game.
Um, and most of that was in the first half.
So that was what was so scared.
When I did the halftime video, it was basically like, Wow, uh, we stopped asking them how good his case.
Keenum, You know that that would have been a narrative had they continued that, um, on slot had had a head had the Washington Redskins come up and beat us by, you know, case Keenum.
Is he the real deal? You know Alex Smith, who and case can play well in the first half, But in the second half And again, this is one of the things I harped on in that video.
Is that man? We, uh we need to do something for Patrick.
A run defense didn't look bad.
Um, that was a nice thing, but a run defense was actually pretty pretty stifling.
The Redskins only rushed for 28 yards.
Well, that's terrible.
So our run defense? It turns out that was one of the surprises for the positive.
Again, I want to focus on the positives.
So again, case Keenum had a field day, especially in the first half. Asked.
Defense needs to improve my past Rush needs to get.
I thought Schwartz made some adjustments and he bet a better job in the second half, and then the halftime video that I did.
I complain that he was not putting enough pressure.
He wasn't being creative enough.
He doesn't like the blitz, and I think that's one of his flaws As a coach.
I'm not sure that, you know, I'm not sure I like the way he calls plays, especially in the first half, and I'm hoping he makes adjustments, cause shorts.
I think needs to improve, has that as a defensive coach, that's a defense coordinator and in the second half, the pass rush you can.
Maybe he started to mix it up and bring up more guys and bring up pressure and try some, like, sort of equally stuff.
But he never really blitz on.
I think I saw him blitz maybe once in the entire game on Dhe.
I think that's gonna be an issue if he if he's not gonna get more creative case Keenum and maybe case Keenum is gonna have a breakout year, and this won't be so strange to me, you know, halfway down the season here, but the case Keenum is gonna put up 380 yards.
What are guys like Tom Brady with Antonio Brown and Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman and you know what is bitter apples burger Gonna d'oh! Although he did not play well.
But what are some of these better quarterbacks gonna do against the Eagles case? Kenny's gonna have this kind of success.
So that's one of the things I need to improve on.
And, um, the other thing I complain about 1/2 time was like I wanted to see Doug really unleashed Carson and and also by default, released to Sean Jackson and just just go down to, you know, take some shots and they did.
And they did that in the second half. And it worked.
You know, I was talking to a friend today, and I'm not just throw the ball deep, like making like a Madden game where the ball deep, throw the ball deep and then handed off running up the middle, run up the middle, run up the middle, and it works from the middle again till they think it until the defense keeps you to four yards.
Just keep running it down their throat and and once they stop in and you only get three or four or two with a bottle, you up and throw a deep No, probably I'm over simplifying it and that's not how it works.
And you know, these guys have, Ah, very intricate playbook for a reason.
And they like to keep things secret and see things for the playoffs and savings for different opponents.
And so I get all that.
But the thing that I was, you know, you look at the Beatles rush rushing attack, which was a thing of concern for me all last year, and this year I'm not concerned about it.
I wasn't going into the season cause we have Jordan Howard, eh? And be Miles Sanders could be good.
And then Sproles had a good game, But at halftime, he hadn't been very productive.
He had one, a 17 yard run, less, uh yesterday, which you know, but boosted his average up to five point to Jordan.
Howard only carried the ball six times and he had a 7.
3 average, though, and he had 44 yards.
It was a spread out running game smile.
Sanders had 11 carries, 25 yards, only 2.
He struggled really bad in the first half and then he kind of got going a little bit of second half you would've had a nice touchdown run, but there was a holding call.
So I think I think I'm hoping, and I'm gonna leave it as a I'm gonna leave Doug Peterson, Super Bowl winning coach, with the benefit of the doubt that, you know, he's gonna figure that all out and they're gonna be able to run the ball.
Success will you just really like to? I saw from Jordan Howard and the two carries you got in the first half and then they kind of went away from him.
I don't I really hope they, uh, work him into the lineup.
And they don't, you know, rely too heavily on Carson.
Throwing the ball, you know, just isn't the end of the game.
They started to go to Howard a little bit and they just rebel eat up clock and get first downs.
And I think that's a great recipe for success in the NFL.
Even still to this day, if you look at the Patriots last year, you know, if you look at the Patriots last year, they were very they were like it.
If I think, um, most running the FIS fifth most relying on the rush, and they had Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback of all time.
But they have a balanced attack.
And once they started, they rolled through the end of the season and the playoffs.
And all of a sudden it was like, Oh, Tom Brady and the Patriots are gonna win another Super Bowl and a big part of that.
What's that coach at Coach? Um, welcome to the broadcast and everybody for listening again.
Glad to have you guys here.
So I want to see Doug Peterson be creative.
Be very aggressive, because that was what won us the Super Bowl that you do.
But I also want to see him be smart and run the ball with, um, Jordan Howard, you know, and mixing Darren Sproles.
And get Miles Sanders involved.
I like I like having the running back by committee, but when you have a big back, you can just pound the defensive front and and sort of the defense a little bit and have your safeties and the quarterbacks cheating up.
Then you're gonna open the field up for a guy like to Sean Jackson or even ashes on Jeffrey Earth's, they have a lot of weapons, even a girl are.
But if you can, you can have a salad running game established.
Then, like you know, just all the Sean Jackson needs.
And we saw it is one step, half a step and Carson just air the ball out.
That's gonna be a huge connection for this team again.
I just want to see them have a more balance is packed with Jordan Howard because I think he's been silent side contributor to this team.
I really hate it when Kookmin coaches just like it, too one dimensional or overthink it and out think themselves.
Peterson's a good coach, smart coach, but I definitely want to see him.
Do, you know, use those use those weapons that he has and put them in position to succeed? I think he will.
I'm just saying, You know, I'm not saying I'm not critiquing Doug Peterson here.
I'm just saying I want to see that, you know, he uses the right guys in right situation.
For example, I don't want to see instead of Darren Sproles getting a halfback toss on 1/3 and one, give it to Jordan, Howard, let him run it right up the middle.
The guy was, you know, average seven yards.
Carrie, Right? Simple stuff.
I think sometimes these guys kind of like themselves.
So now I mentioned there's a couple things happen around the league.
Obviously these the Eagles can came up with a win, so you know nothing more to say.
They did what they had to d'oh on.
And, you know, it was It was scary.
It looked like a scheme.
Um, Thought it looked like the Redskins going a lot better than I thought.
He goes back to Rush.
Didn't look good in that game until kind of the end.
There's a couple Siri's in the second half where I think maybe the end of the first half, where the pass rush starts, at least put some pressure on him.
So that was good to see them kind of wake up and improve a little bit of a snap in preseason, right? So, yeah, we'll see.
But But they kind of got got out of the funk in the second half.
Ah, a couple of things happen around the league. Obviously.
Nick Foles, former Philadelphia Eagle legend, sad to see him go down on a great touchdown throttle.
Of course, that's the kind of guy Nick Foles is stood in the pocket.
He took that big hit, threw a bomb.
It looked weird.
It was one of those throws.
It almost looked like it went straight out.
And, you know, I just think whenever I see a throw, I gotta think, Wow, that's like it sounds like someone's been intercept back.
But he was able to get that touchdown and then he was out.
Broke the clavicle.
I think he's getting surgery today.
So, you know, speedier cooperated Nick Foles.
He is out till week 10.
So that's a shame for the Jaguars and Pernik bowls.
We'll see if they're able to weather that storm.
And, hey, if you've seen any with Nick Foles, is that you really don't even want him to play until we 14 or 12 or 14 anyway, when you get ready for a playoff Bush.
So maybe Jacksonville could catch some of that magic.
I wish it was that, uh, on the best with that.
The other thing I thought was a big story was maybe it wasn't a big story, but maybe should be a scholar.
Mary coming in there and almost getting his team that win, I guess you say almost there.
They round up time Detroit, and I think you can't get any closer almost winning than that.
And I thought he played, Really, You know, he played terrible the first half.
The Cardinals in general look bad.
I didn't actually get to see much of the game, but I did pick take Cuyler.
Murray and I drafted him in my fantasy league.
So, you know, that's a guy that I had to Ah, I looked like Wow, I might have made a mistake by drafting him, right? And then, um, he wound up with a decent staff for fantasy.
But more importantly, he it's an interesting era when you see a quarterback's first game throw the ball 50 something times now I know went into overtime, but still, even before the overtime, he had thrown about 46 times, which is I mean, that's just saying, Hey, you're our guy.
Go out there and play football and win.
And I think he obviously had a rough start.
But then he kind of snapped out of it, and I think he may be, you know, he grew as a player in that and had he pulled off the wind, I mean, it would have been a bigger conversation.
First start ever in his history comes up with a huge comeback win, fourth quarter comeback.
And they were down, What, 18 6 of one point. So, Kyle, America.
Somebody look out for in this league.
And I thought that was very impressive, that he was able to bring them back.
And if that team within striking distance of their first W and who knows how long? I don't even know what the Cardinals last win was, but a team that had not much to smile about.
I think they have a lot to smile about now with Kyle and Murray speaking of not much to smile about.
You have the Steelers last night shout out to my friend Jamie, who, uh, is this still stand and they had a just a absolute just judging by the hats and with all the things going on, the Antonio Brown him going in and doing the Patriots, that salt in the wounds of the Pittsburgh Steelers fans and then Tom Brady and that team looks good.
Stewards did not look good at all.
I don't know what's gonna happen there.
I think they really need.
Thio sat out Jamie to stay strong.
Once Roethlisberger retires, the curse will be lifted and the Steelers will be good again.
But until then, we are with the Steelers fan in one way as Eagles fans, where we don't want to see the Patriots way and we don't want to see them succeed anymore.
But it's unfortunately doesn't look like I mean, the Pats going too good this year.
There's just no other way around.
It depends. Looks good.
They held the Steelers of three points.
They made the Steelers look.
So And I guess the good news for Steelers fans is there's no way that actually that bad.
Uh, so I'm sure they'll bounce back, and we, too, after gonna be really tough.
Nobody's gonna want to play them.
I know the Eagles are gonna host the Pats at one point, so hopefully we can beat them.
It's after our bye week, so that should help the Eagles a little bit.
But yeah, the Patriots are are the real deal and they're gonna have Antonio Brown joining the roster soon, which is not good.
Not good for the rest of us.
Mere mortals out here, football fans.
But again, the Eagles got there 1st 1st winning season, just like they're supposed to go and I'll be back to do some more videos.
