prevents accrued time.
Good morning, everyone.
Welcome to Friday edition of Actually See Radio Live.
It's December 12 11, 11th scratched.
Adds December 11 So, folks don't go crazy.
If you had something going truly it is the 11th.
We're here to talk.
Uh, it's Friday.
Which means we're gonna preview all the Sunday NFL action as well.
Is talking about that unfortunate, um, event last night, which which, uh, likely the end of the Patriots playoff folks, but yeah, let's not waste any time.
Let's bring in the man himself. Mr. Mike Debate.
I know he's chomping at the bit, uh, to get, uh, into the show.
He wants to show me the world when it comes to radio broadcasting.
Mike, how you doing today, buddy? Oh, yeah, I'm doing well, but yeah, I will show you the world shining, shimmering. Splendid.
Uh, no, all kidding aside, it was you know, you you were singing that before we went down there.
So just folks out there, because Red**** it was It was magical.
It was something that, you know, the late, great Freddie Mercury would have appreciated.
But, you know, it's just, uh, you know, unfortunately, you know, it was one of those things that was one of those moments in time that just can't be duplicated.
So gonna have to use your imagination, folks.
But all kidding aside, a dismal showing for the New England Patriots last night on both sides of the ball, more on one side than on the other.
But really believe both sides just a dismal performance.
Ah, great performance by the Rams.
I don't want to make it seem like all the Patriots just completely laid an egg.
And they handed this gift wrap to the Rams.
Rams went out and took it.
That's a legitimate defense.
That's a legitimate offense.
And they're gonna be a tough team to beat in the NFC.
I saw a lot there last night with the Rams that I really like for Rams fans.
So, um, you know, good showing for them, but tough times here in New England.
No question about it.
Uh, the end of an era, really, I think, truly reared its ugly head last night in New England.
For the first time, I think Patriots fans, we're really seeing that this is not a playoff caliber teen and that you know we're likely going to have more time on our hands in January than we ever have before.
Hearing Patriots Nation at least for the past couple of decades.
Yeah, look, I mean, I know it.
Obviously, it's it's never.
You're never happy when when your team doesn't make the playoffs and doesn't have a chance to compete for a championship.
I'm not suggesting that Andi, this is something again.
I've I've said over and over and over.
I feel like every single episode it's about it's about expectations.
You had to adjust them coming into this season, and those who didn't have struggled greatly with what's going on.
And at the end of the day, you're looking at a team that may finish.
Ain't Nate, and we're talking about it like our A large segment of Patriots fans were talking about it like it's the end of the world and when when you take a step back and, you know, put it in perspective, you're like, well, eight mates, not so bad, especially when you have teams that are consistently going five and 11, 6 and 10, and if this is what happens after 20 years of success, you have a year, maybe two of just, you know, finding your way, sifting your way through the transition.
Then I'm okay with that. You know, it's it's not.
I mean, you have to have realistic expectations.
Like I sit here and say, Like, you know, of course, I want the Patriots to win the Super Bowl every single year.
I mean, people ask me with that guitar in. No, absolutely not.
I would love to win, have them win 20 straight Super Bowls.
Is that gonna happen? No.
No teams going to do that.
It's It's not realistic.
So, like, I get that every team or every fan watch their team toe win.
Uh, you have to be able to look and and see what you have in front of you and realize.
Okay, Yeah, this this team can win, they can win some big games and and the Patriots this year have shown that they've released up, been able to compete in some pretty big games, for sure.
But at the end of the day, you know, Thio, sit here and think that Okay, maybe this was this is still a Super Bowl team is You know, I think that went out the door when Brady signed in Tampa and and people sit there and say and we still see it.
For some reason, there was no Brady wasn't that good, But no, he was.
He was really good last year, and I think again, this isn't an indictment on camp.
But we see the production from the quarterback position this year with largely the same team.
And you could make an argument that this version of the Patriots offense, even without Julian Edelman, is better than it was last year.
Because even even with Julian Edelman, he was.
I mean, he was bagged up like being held together by duct tape on gorilla tape for, you know, by the end of the season.
So, uh, look, it's disappointing.
You would have liked to see this team kind of sneak into the playoffs and maybe give give one of the contending teams you know, run for their money.
But it's looking less and less likely, and you said it best.
I mean that they had moments last night, but for the most part, they weren't good.
Uh, they weren't good enough on any in any aspect of the game except for maybe the punting game, which you know that Z always a good thing.
You always want to be good on special issues, but defense had their lapses.
And, of course, the offense, Uh, you know, execution and play calling.
I'm not gonna put it on one or the other.
I think when we talk about issues with play calling, you go down to that first on gold situation where they got stuffed four straight times at the goal line and didn't really change anything.
I mean that that's frustrating because like, yeah, you want to sit here and say, Okay, Cam didn't have a great game, you know? And none of us are sitting here expecting him to be Tom Brady.
We talk about all the time like he's been.
He's been really good as a leader.
He's been really good for the most part on the field, dealing with the situation that that's presented to him.
And there's a lot on his shoulders, on top of having for what what appears to be a pretty legitimate abdomen injury, which could be again slowing him down.
So I'm not gonna put it all on him, he didn't have a great game.
Uh, not every You'd be hard pressed to find someone on that team that you could sit there aside from again, the punting aspect and say they had a great game.
Sure expected, Probably.
I I think, watching that game.
It's like, Okay, if they win this game, you know, you get a little bit more excited that there's a chance and I'm not saying that, you know, they've been eliminated, there's There's certainly still a very small door for them to to sneak in.
But at this point, I'm I'm I'm leaning towards probably them, uh, taking a seat during January.
I mean, you know, you look tous.
Typically, according to Fivethirtyeight, they have 4% chance of making the playoffs.
That's not good.
That's not good.
I mean, and I'm saying that tongue in cheek I mean, that's almost virtually impossible at this point.
So now you look at what this team is, and you look at them building for the future.
One thing that was particularly of interest to me last night was Bill Belichick giving Cam an unbridled vote of confidence, saying cameras on quarterback, um, does this mean that he's committed to playing out the string with Cam and just giving him the opportunity to go wire to wire with this team and not having have toe have him benched for the last couple of games of the season? Or is he looking at Cam and saying, I still think this guy conclude this team next year? Let's see what we can do.
Let's see if we can put together some, you know, quality football in the last few games of the season.
Maybe prize a couple of people.
I'm not saying get into the playoffs, folks would misconstrue.
But what I'm trying to say is open up some eyes and show what this offense could be capable of with Cam Newton with a healthy Cam Newton with, you know, some, uh, you know, exciting or good play calling around and or maybe a few more weapons around him.
Maybe Cam shows some flashes that leads people to believe that he will be the quarterback of at least of the immediate future for this team.
Because I don't know about you.
I know you saw it last night, and I'm sure you did.
I saw it a lot of the fan base is clamoring for Jared Stidham right now.
Stayed, came in and didn't look much more comfortable.
He was, you know he was.
He was throwing Aaron throws.
He is getting the ball out a little bit quicker that is completely on camp.
Camp has to work on that.
Get the ball out of his hand quicker.
That is one thing that's very frustrating about watching Cam Newton right now.
Play football and try to beat teams through the air.
You have to be able to make passes.
That's part of being a quarterback.
So much of what he does is predicated on using his legs, and he does that very well.
He's got 11 rushing touchdowns.
No one is saying that he doesn't, but at the same time, you have to be versatile, and that's one thing that frustrates me with Cam Newton.
But I'm not seeing the blockbuster type potential in Jarrett Stidham that a lot of people think is going to happen.
Um, it's not that simple, folks and I think Bill Belichick and the Patriots brain trust know better than anyone else if they stay committed to Cam Newton even after he struggled mightily for the last few games.
There's a reason for it, and the Patriots realized that their best bet to put out their best quality product on the field starts with Cam Newton.
But again, I want to give the Rams from credit here, too, because, I mean, I were making it seem like the Patriots just completely handed them a gift rep game last night.
Um, they really took it to New England's offensive line, Mawr and Maura's.
The game went on.
They continue to smell blood in the water, and these guys really went after them.
Brandon Staley, Who's the Rams defensive coordinator? I thought playing this game brilliantly last night.
He brought blitzes, confuse the Patriots a lot.
Jermaine Alumina or looked overwhelmed and overmatched at times, you know? I mean, he was easily beaten by that defensive fun on numerous occasions.
This was definitely his horse game of the season.
Yeah, it was very evident to without, without question and you know, I mean, you look at Cam.
I mean, they were receiver problems for a lot of the night.
The receivers were failing to separate.
I really and Josh McDaniels cause you mentioned the play calling.
You know, I think he called several plays on third downs that had too many pass catchers behind the first lot down.
You can't do that.
You absolutely can't do that and expect to move the football.
I want to give a little credit to McKeel Harry making a big boy catch last night, really going up, snagging a very tough, you know, passed by Cam Newton and coming down with it in contested situations.
This is what you know.
Everybody loves toe eight, this guy, but there is potential there, and if you be patient with it a little bit, you'll see that everybody wants to compare him to D. K. Metcalf.
And for what it's worth, U K Metcalf was actually graded lower than Mikio.
Harry was in the draft.
That's a common point that everybody loves to, you know, toe gait.
Yeah, I know Bills fans or having ah, really field day this morning with that graphic that the Fox showed last night with all the Patriots wide receivers that failed, one of which, Malcolm Mitchell, by the way, would have been a true stud if he didn't actually problem.
I'm actually holding up a graphic to the camera right now with all the Bill Super Bowl championships on it, Uh, the blank piece of paper, Because I can see that.
That's exactly what it is.
Actually, it's the same piece of paper that Michael Scott used at the Dunder Mifflin career day at the high school.
Anyway, sorry E.
You know, if any bills fans are listening, I know, I know.
Uh, the, uh our good friend Nick here, SportsCastr.
He's a big bills fan.
So if he's watching, if you're watching, you know what we want to talk about.
You wanna talk about bragging rights for this season, have that and have a day, they they've earned it.
And look, it has a lot to like about the Buffalo Bills.
I really objectively, I really like that football team an awful lot from start to finish.
Their really someone.
Oh, well, I like the Washington football team to You can't talk about a team respect.
They don't even have a name, you know? Yeah, you don't even have a nickname.
And I'm not even worth that.
E was gonna say they might even win the division to without a name. They might.
They could when the division they they on a team with Don't think this is pretty good.
Yeah, that's the ****ing game.
Somewhere America is smashing their instruments against the wall hearing that, but no ice picks in the ears.
One of the two. That's possible.
Yeah, they have very well could be.
But, you know, you know, sudden dramatic, uh, injury to the brain causes the jaw.
Did you know that? I did not know that s****y wild stuff.
Yeah, well, I I learned it from Shawshank Redemption.
I'm not gonna be o e, but you were going with.
Anyway, let's get back on track here.
We do have a lot of NFL stuff to talk about, because hey, it is Friday.
So we got to give our run picks because I don't know, I was pretty wrong last week.
Uh, my my win loss record is so bad, and there was a Sunday in there where I went 12 and Oh, that's how bad it's been. Horrendous.
So, uh, so take it for what? It's worth If I say your team's gonna win.
Well, maybe should bet against them because it might be a better, better chance.
So, uh, let's see what time I got. Okay, 9. 20.
Yeah. Lets lets you what you want to jump into the picture. You have.
Actually, you know what? Before we do that, though, I do wanna keep on the patriots just a little bit longer, because I wanna ask you or I actually want to comment on what you were talking about. Josh.
Josh, Jared, sit him.
You know, even in that, that small period of time, uh, it didn't look much different.
He looked a little antsy in the pocket.
Hey, held onto the ball.
And again, it was much of the same.
So, to your point, I don't really see what the appeal is to put Jared Cinnamon there.
Now you can make an argument, say, Oh, well, maybe he just hasn't had a chance. I don't know.
I feel like I've seen enough.
You know what I mean? Like, I I don't like people are like, Well, you got to know what you what you have.
I think the coaches know what they have.
You know what I mean? I don't think they need to see him in a game to know what they have.
For instance, before Tom Brady even took it snap in the NFL, they knew what they had in Tom Brady.
You know what I mean on.
And I think Jared Stidham has taken enough snaps in the NFL and obviously has has been in practice, uh, for these past two years for the team to kind of have an idea of who he is.
If they thought there was a chance for him to be the future, I think he'd be playing.
Or, you know, maybe that changes.
Maybe this week we learned that he goes in.
But like you said, Bill is committed to Cam, and I don't see him flip flopping like that.
So, um, you know that that brings that begs the question.
You know, say camp isn't the starting quarterback.
I you know a lot can change between now and next season, and who knows who's going to be available? I do think that, you know, maybe keeping Cam and drafting a quarterback is probably the most logical step.
Um That doesn't mean if, say, Player X becomes available.
You don't take a stab at him like in the let's say for this, just just, you know, just Thio make this as an example.
Say, the in the unlikely scenario on the off season.
Of course, the Patriots should go and try to pursue that, even at his age.
You should do that.
Um, but at a certain point, you're not You're not getting much better If you go to a new quarterback.
That may be marginally better than Cam Newton.
So, like I said in that in my mind, you know, maybe you go out, draft another quarterback and hope that, you know, maybe that guy is gonna be the guy.
Really? You know, do your job, do your job and find that next guy and use camp in the next year or two.
Um, that, I think, is probably the most logical scenario.
But again, I'm talking about this now in December and the thes things thes questions aren't gonna be answered until, you know, at the earliest march April and, you know, perhaps at the latest next season.
So, uh, if it's not Cam and if it's not a drafted quarterback or Jared Stidham.
Who do you think could maybe be a good fit as as the signal caller? And, well, not Tom Brady, either, Because he ain't walking through that door.
And and real quick folks, uh, those who are making a big deal about his comments about ever being caught dead in the living in the Northeast again.
Apparently, you guys have never moved out of the Northeast and to to to a warm climate.
I can speak from experience.
I love New England.
I love the scenery.
I love the environment.
I love the culture.
I love everything about it.
But I will never live there again, especially in the winter, because you know what? Zero degrees weather sucks.
And when you get used Thio being the coldest down here at 50 degrees, maybe 40 overnight you're okay.
Never going and living back there.
So I think people are getting a little too upset.
Sorry I had to throw that.
I completely agree with you.
I mean, anybody that's getting up in arms about those comments clearly, um, you know, just Yeah, I mean, they like you said they've clearly never lived outside of that region or at the same time they really they don't have any idea what living in a warmer climate will do that Zall it was, folks, and that's all it will be.
So you know, there's nothing to see there.
But again, you know, people will continue to hop on it because it's Tom Brady.
Look, bottom line, Thio.
Answer your question.
Who will be the Patriots signal caller next year? If it's not, can, if it's not drafted quarterback coming out of this class or if it's not Jared Stidham, you know slim pickings out there right now.
I mean, who do you go after? I mean, he assumed Carson Wentz is gonna be available.
Is that an option? Is that an option? No, no, wait a second.
I I completely agree with you.
Is that an option? Is that really a road that you want to go down with all the injury history and difficulty he's had navigating that offense in Philadelphia? I don't think so.
I don't think that's the the answer.
So you eliminate him? Uh, does San Francisco look at their situation and say, You know what? Jimmy is often injured.
We may want to move on from him.
Does Bill Belichick say You know what? We can rebuild him.
We have the technology.
We know how to handle Jimmy Garoppolo.
Do we bring him back in? Um, that's intriguing.
I think it's a good story for Rule it out, but yeah, but I think that's highly unlikely.
First of all, I don't think San Francisco was gonna move on.
I really and truly don't you've heard Kyle Shanahan say several times Jimmy Garoppolo was our quarterback.
I think they know what they have in him.
I think it's just a matter of keeping him healthy on the field.
Um, I don't think that they've seen enough to discourage them from moving on from his deal.
So I think Jimmy stays in San Francisco.
So where does that leave you? You know, I mean, who becomes available at this point? Do you have, like, you said and also ran someone that you cut or that's cut loose from a team that you come in and say, almost like an Andy Dalton, like from last year or things of that nature, you know? Do these guys come in there? Does Dak Prescott somehow become available via trade.
A lot of people are talking about that with the issues that he's had in his injury and the contract situation with Dallas.
Do they make a decision? That's something that's intriguing.
If Dak Prescott becomes available, that someone that I would take definitely take a look at, uh, Shawn Watson signing the monster.
You know, extension in the offseason pretty much takes him off of the market.
But you never can tell.
What could Jack Easterby and all that stuff going on? You never really know what's going on in Houston.
E was going to say What about what? About a guy like that, right? Matt Ryan could be a possibility.
And you look at that and you say Okay, well, you know, local boy comes home.
Boston College guy comes home quarterbacks the Patriots for the twilight of his career.
But are you really better off with Matt Ryan, then with Cam Newton? Yeah, I think the Patriots after the understand and they look at what Cam brings to the table, they look at his leadership.
They look at the response to his teammates have for him.
Um, they also look at his ability to extend plays with his legs and be dynamic in a lot of different ways.
Can is struggling with something right now.
I don't know if it's just picking up the blitz.
I don't know if it's a situation where it's just limited to, um maybe unfamiliarity, you know, and uninterrupted training camp to be able to showcase what he could dio.
But at the same time, you know, I mean, there comes a point in time when you do have to put some of that on his shoulders and picking up the blitz, holding onto the ball too long.
Those are concerns.
The throws that he's making.
Some of them are landing at the feet of receivers.
He's missing open receivers.
So I think those things can be taught.
If the Patriots are concerned, the Cam Newton simply just doesn't have it physically anymore.
That's when you wanna look to move on from him.
But if they feel that the physical traits are still there and this is just mechanical or mental or things that need to be worked on in the off season, then in my opinion, I think it's probably in their best interest to bring Cam back because he's gonna have knowledge of what this team does.
Um, and a lot of this is a wild card to about who is going to be his offensive coordinator next year.
We keep hearing a lot that Josh McDaniels is being bandied about for A for a Nen FL coaching job.
And you have to think, if the Patriots are going to go back down to Earth for a few years now, sort of in a rebuild mode before they make that assent.
Once again, uh, Josh may have to strike while the iron is hot here.
If it's not gonna be in New England, you know he wants to be a head coach, and if he's offered a job, he may have to take it this time without any hesitation.
So I I think I think he would 100% because I don't think his stocks that high.
To be honest with you, I mean, really way here.
After last night, it really plummeted a little bit.
I'll be honest with you.
One of the things I'm going to write about talk about on lock down Patriots was his play calling last night and I didn't think he really utilized the offense or utilize Cam Newton to his best strength last night.
And even when he made the switch to Jarrett Stidham, they played the same type of formations that you saw Cam Newton play.
And those two quarterbacks are not like for like, they're not the same.
So, yeah, there's there's some.
There's something off about what Josh has done this year, and it has affected his draft stock or his coaching stock.
Already got an eye on the draft.
Chicken stock, beef stock, coaching stock. It's all the same.
It's all the same, right? Our track.
How did I miss that one? Uh, okay, so we're gonna nip this conversation in the but here because we could definitely keep going on it.
But we do want Thio do our picks like we do each and every week, because, hey, we gotta put our reputation on the line.
And since our reputation as there's low as it gets, we can only go up my friends.
So obviously already got off to a bad start.
I picked the Patriots last night, so, um yeah, it z It's not a good start, but I'm gonna rebound.
And maybe having another perfect Sunday, uh, with the exclusion of Thursday.
So let's start with Houston at Chicago.
We have the Bears obviously having, you know, struggled sense of five and one start coming into this game against the Houston team that, you know, we kind of mentioned before.
They've they've had some moments, but they're not a good team.
I have. Chicago went in this.
I think they get kind of back on track a little bit.
It's gonna be a close game for sure.
But I do have Chicago taking care of Houston at home.
Actually, we're going to start off with a disagreement right off that I like it.
I've got the Houston Texans win in this game.
Look, a lot of ways e don't know why that was relevant.
I just had to play it.
It was Anytime you think the Texans, you need a bedpan to the head.
But no, I'm only kidding, folks.
We could probably do have some Texans fans listening.
Uh, Shawn Watson to me, is that I'm just gonna play this way.
You make your picks.
You Yeah, there are so many follow words without writing now that I could think of.
But it's a family show.
I'm gonna call myself folks.
Um, no, All kidding aside, Shawn Watson is the deciding factor here.
I think that he does enough to be able Thio put points on a tough Chicago defense, but at Chicago, offense has not proven to me that they could put points up.
I like Houston and a close one in this.
It was really good.
Um, we'll see how long I get before I get tired of that.
Next, we have the Arizona Cardinals, um, at the New York Giants, two teams that you know.
Their records don't say much combined, certainly there, there under 500 but they're both playing.
Or at least the Giants are playing some pretty good football.
The Cardinals have struggled a bit as of late.
I do think they actually get back on track in this game.
I I think they've, you know, they really haven't been the same since that Hail Mary went over the bills they've lost, I believe, three in a row.
So I'd like to see the Cardinals rebound, especially since there still in that that mix, uh, in the NFC wild card race.
So I got I got the cardinals, uh, winning this game.
I like it to differing opinions to start off the man.
I'm going New York football giants in this.
I like what I see from Joe Judges Team.
I like the fact that they're aggressive on defense, special teams.
They look good and rumors had a rebound that Danny Jones might be.
I think he writes that successful hmccoy showed last night.
Take this one on the close.
One e, that's that's That's good, man.
You know, I might just start throwing random songs and seeing if you could talk over the intro with your predictions.
Um, good luck when I play Shine on You Crazy Diamond trying to fill all that time before that for the before the first vocal note.
But that would be impressive.
That would be have to be a Patriots game, because I know you could talk that much that long about that next.
Next we have, ah, very big game in the NFC.
Obviously, the books are coming off their bye week, having lost two in a row.
Uh, and they're competing with the team.
That's right behind them in that wild card race.
The Minnesota Vikings, who have turned their season around and have been playing some pretty good football, especially that offense.
So I got the I got the Bucks in this game and in a pretty close game in a one score game, I don't see them blowing Minnesota out.
I do see them having an opportunity to get their points on offense.
Because there, because the Vikings offense has been playing well, Kirk Cousins has been playing well.
But this defense is one of the worst.
Passing defense is in the league, and I think, uh, Brady in the Bucks.
Almost the Patriots Brady of the Bucks are gonna take advantage of that.
Absolutely, and we do agree.
Finally, on this one.
I like the Bucks in.
This is well, and I like them by a touchdown, maybe even a little bit more, for the reason that you stated.
It's definitely a porous past defense on the Minnesota Vikings, and Brady takes advantage of it.
We've seen Tom come off of the by before and he usually has very big games coming off of the Buy.
I don't care if the region has changed.
I don't care if the locations changed.
Brady is still Brady, and I think he proves it this week.
Tennessee, having gone three and four of their last seven, aren't playing, isn't playing the best football, or at least certainly not as good as they were last year when they made it to the A F C championship game? Uh, they're in a pretty tight race for the A F C South, and they have one of their rivals.
E laugh when I say arrivals, because Jacksonville Jaguars and I don't think they're the rival of anyone but maybe the Jets.
And that's because there competing for the top overall pick, I got Tennessee pretty easily in this one.
I think this is a get right game for them where they come in and and, you know, they put up some points last week, but it was too little, too late.
I think a lot of that was in garbage time, too.
So the legitimacy of their 30 some odd points is, you know you can discuss that, but I see them taking care of business in this one Uh, yeah, pretty easily against Jacksonville.
Yeah, like Tennessee.
And this one is, Well, look the bottom line.
I know they've been a Jekyll and Hyde team at times this year, looking like a really solid contender in this division and in this conference and then all of a sudden, looking like a team that may have a lot more flaws than positives.
But Jacksonville is just not a very good team, you know.
This year they showed flashes and they can make it again.
But in the end, I like Tennessee and this one, and they'll probably take this by at least more than a score.
Next, we have the anti Dalton revenge game.
Biggest game of the weekend, my friend.
We have the Dallas Cowboys at the sense, okay, but I can't even keep a straight face saying that.
It's really not a big game at all.
It's it's It's, uh I mean, I guess technically, Dallas is.
It's still in the hunt for the NFC East, so I mean, it is a big game for them.
But the story line being Andy Dalton is gonna go up against his former team, the Bengals.
Uh, look, I I pick the Cowboys in this one.
I think it's gonna be a close, boring game.
Yeah, yeah, boring, I'll say boring, because I think we're going to see some sloppy football from both teams.
But that's just kind of par for the course.
But I do have Dallas winning this one have Dallas one, and this one is, well, look like you said the Andy Dalton revenge factor.
No, I'm only getting close.
Dallas is just, I think, a better team on both sides of the ball.
You know, if Joe Burrow we're in this matchup, I would not hesitate to take the Cincinnati Bengals.
But at the same time, you know, Joe, obviously not going to be there.
I think Dalton is gonna be a little extra pump.
Dallas has got extra motivation.
They take this one.
All right, So next we have the Carolina Panthers at the Denver Broncos.
I got Carolina and this one.
I think this is gonna be a fairly close game.
I think both these teams are, you know, relatively in the same spot when it comes to where they are as a franchise.
Uh, good at times, most likely, you know, more likely than not just not a playoff team and a team that still needs to grow and mature.
Um, I have Panthers in this one, I believe.
Now Correct me If I'm wrong.
I believe Christian McCaffrey is on pace to play in this game.
Or did I misread that? I might know you didn't misread that right now.
There's a lot of talk that he will.
It hasn't been made official yet, at least according to what I've seen.
But no, you're not in this reading that you're just basically kind of reiterating what's out there and accurately, By the way, so nicely done.
I have Carolina, and this one is well, even if Christian is not able to go, I still just think that the way Teddy Bridgewater is playing.
I like the way this Carolina Panthers team eyes rounding people, and they're just a better team on both sides of the ball right now.
But don't be surprised to see Denver give them a game in this.
Uh, that's not necessarily an also ran team over there, either.
Denver is on the cusp of something, and they didn't quite realize that this year, but next year.
That's gonna be a team to watch in that division.
We got the dolphins.
We got the cheese.
Perhaps the biggest game of the weekend.
Am I gonna be crazy enough to pick against the Chiefs? I am.
Because I'm from Minnesota.
No, Look, all kidding aside, this You know, when you look at it, this has the makings of a really good game.
I mean, obviously, we're Patriots fan, so we're not kind of like the Dolphins, but we're also somewhat intelligent.
I mean, relative thio.
I mean something, I guess.
But, uh, So we look at it and say, Look, the Dolphins have a pretty good team, and I look at and say, Well, despite, you know what some people say, Uh, Kansas City isn't just this unstoppable machine on offense.
They they're actually very stoppable.
If if you play them right and a lot of teams don't, that's the problem.
Fortunately for Dolphins fans, they have a guy named Bryan Flores as their head coach, who, as a member of the Patriots, had some success against this team.
And look, the Dolphins aren't the Patriots, but they have of those few years.
But they have a really good defense, and they have some really good defensive players.
I think this is Ah, I I mean, I I hate to say that this would be an upset because I think these two teams are a little bit closer than one would make you believe.
But I'm going to take the Miami Dolphins to win this game, and now maybe it's just my bias.
Maybe it's just me trying to will the Chiefs to another loss and you know, who knows? Who knows? We'll see.
But if I do, if if I am correct, I will certainly be taking a victory lap.
But I do have the Dolphins winning this game, you know, I really went back and forth on this and I'm so glad that you pick the Dolphins on this one.
I did go with the Chiefs and I did go with the Chiefs just barely because I think they smell blood in the water after the defeat of the Pittsburgh Steelers and I think they look at these.
This opportunity is a chance to take a stranglehold on the A F C.
I think they're strong enough to make this happen.
But Miami is gonna give them all they can handle.
And the thing that I like about Miami is I think they're gonna lay a blueprint for how to stop this Chiefs offense.
And I think Bryan Flores has the horses and the capability to do it.
I think in a lot of ways you saw the New England Patriots do away back in the first iteration of this team, Uh, you know, when obviously the Brian Hoyer Jarrett Stidham debacle, they could have won that game with a more competent quarterback starting the, uh, the job.
But at the same time, I think you're gonna see Brian take some of that what they did against my homes a few years ago in the playoffs.
Apply that now, uh, this could end up being the game of the weekend.
It wouldn't shock me to see the Dolphins come out on top, but ultimately, I'll stay with my pick.
I'm gonna go with the Chiefs by just a little more than a field goal.
Well, I guess I'm the only one willing Thio put my reputation on the line and pick the dolphins I'm sure that meets, uh, again.
You know, I don't want to endear myself to any, uh, endear myself to any Dolphins.
Fans were certainly not friends.
Yeah, there's a few people we work with, some Dolphins fans that are that I that I enjoy.
But for the most part, Dolphins fans I'm good with.
I'm just looking at this and saying, sort of like what you said.
Brian course knows what they have to dio to beat this team.
If they can do it, that's, you know, that's that's what we're trying to figure out.
I believe they can, because we've seen them play some really good football.
And I think this is a team that does play up to their competition and and plays up to big games.
Or we see some teams that just don't do that.
So, uh, next we have the Seahawks hosting the New York todo si ox e.
I mean, look, we saw what happened last week with the Jets.
This this team I fully believe is going Oh, in 16.
They're not gonna win a game.
Um, not And and this isn't just because they're trying not to win a game, but they're just not that good.
Uh, they don't have great coaching, so that doesn't help.
But this is just a collection of some talented players, but for the most part, yeah, this is just not a good team.
And I think the Seahawks role in this now again, if the Jets are able to put up a bunch of points and you're really gonna be concerned about the Seattle Seahawks, we know they don't have a great defense, but even their defense.
And and we talk about the Andy Dalton revenge game.
Well, this is the Jamal Adams revenge game.
So I'd imagine Seahawks defense should have a pretty good day against the Jets.
If they don't, then even in a win, they might be concerning moving forward.
Yeah, I think I've Seattle does struggle to stop this team at all, meaning the Jets offense.
Then, yeah, you really have to have legitimate concern about whether or not this team is a playoff team or someone that can really do some damage in the playoffs, because they should have no problem on both sides of the ball taking care of the Jets.
Yeah, I think we're both picking Seahawks in this as no surprise there.
But at the same time, I think this is more of a statement game for the Seahawks to see if they could come out and just dominate a team that they should dominate in every facet.
If they don't or struggle in any fashion in this, I think that's a look in the mirror.
Time for the Seattle Seahawks heading into the playoffs.
We have a very intriguing game.
Very, very intriguing.
Game. Indianapolis at Las Vegas.
The Raiders coming off a very bad loss.
Very, very bad loss.
No way to sugarcoat it after last week.
So it was a 43 to 6 46 26 DiBacco.
Whatever the actual final score was close enough to that, uh, Indianapolis Just playing some good football.
Their defense has been really good, is one of the best in the league.
They're like I mentioned earlier there in a tight race with the Titans right now for that a F C South spot, but But I'm picking the Raiders.
I think they rebound in this game, and I know there's a lot of slack, you know, being thrown their their direction and rightfully so.
I mean, they played horrific Lee against the Falcons and and lost that game.
Um, I do see them rebounding this week, and I'm taking the Raiders in a close one in a close one.
And we differ again.
A lot of what disagreements this week.
You know, this will be good.
One of one of us will have bragging rights and the other one will be in the toilet.
Um, you know, most likely it'll be may.
But you know what? I will stand on the bow of the time until it sinks.
Uh, you know what? Never mind that.
So that's college story that involved me waking up, sitting next door toilet way.
Don't want to do well.
Maybe you dio Maybe you do.
It wasn't my most proud moment, but it came after a a way that I could use to explain this way.
Those photos got burned, burned a long time ago.
And fortunately, it was the 4 4005.
So it was a lot less likely These things were going to survive it.
So moving, moving on e.
You think they were destroyed? I got sources e got meta sources in the in the New Jersey area, right? That was a cheap shot, you know, whatever.
You know what? Let's Yeah, the Raiders here.
The funny thing is is like, I I've been trying to figure out how toe put that into a conversation.
So Well, I think we access the same part of our brain this morning when it comes out.
Except for when it came to making picks.
So, yeah, you know what? That's sometimes the halves of the brain have to go their own way.
And, uh, yeah, it's clear they did this morning.
Look, I do like the colts in this.
I still think that that defense is playing.
I had a very high level.
I think Philip Rivers has done a fairly decent job navigating this offense.
Um, at the end of the day, I think it demoralizing loss like the one that Raiders, you know, experience last week and stay with you.
I do think they bounce back a little bit.
I don't think this is gonna be a runaway blow out.
I don't think that the Raiders air going to crumble, but at the end of the day.
I just like the way the culture playing, and I think they realize that they have a legitimate shot at this division and if they're going to take it, they need to take this game.
Have the 40 Niners at the football team.
This was actually kind of a hard game to pick because I know Washington's playing pretty good right now, but for some reason I don't know why.
But my gut keeps telling me to take 40 Niners in these games.
And maybe it's, you know, maybe that's the reason I have been feeling great because my guts out of shape and then it tells me the wrong thing right now in hopes that I try to fix it.
But I'm taking the 40 Niners and and a bit of upset.
I know the records obviously, don't you know? I don't want to say Throw the records out because again I do, for the most part, believe that you are what your record is.
But you know, it's very clear with a team like Washington that they're much better than they were at the beginning of the year and s O Soto have the 40 Niners in this game, I think is a little bit of an upset, but I do have them winning in a pretty close one.
I had the Niners winning in a close one as well.
Imaginable of some of the ones that we've agreed on.
I didn't think this would be it, but, uh, no, we dio.
We do agree on this.
I like Nick Mullen Ability.
Thio. Move the football a little bit.
Washington's coming off a very, very high, you know, highly publicized win.
But like that, they come back down to Earth a little bit.
And I think the 40 Niners defense is what brings them there.
Next we got New Orleans at Philadelphia.
Uh, no indication that Drew Brees is gonna be playing in this game, but it's not really gonna matter.
They've already gone through, you know, without Drew Brees, I could sit here and argue and say, Well, it hasn't been the Philadelphia this week, so it zig right on par with what they have been playing.
I think they win this game and pretty comfortably.
Yeah, they went in this game and they won comfortably.
Philly right now is starting to see the Jalen Hurts era.
We're going to see what this kid can do.
Got high hopes for jail, and I think he's gonna be, ah, player.
That's gonna turn some heads if he's gonna be exciting.
But I don't think he's ready to lead this team just yet.
That's really an indictment on how just bad Carson Wentz has been this year.
But, yeah, New Orleans takes this and it's it's comfortable.
I don't think this one's clothes Green Bay at Detroit, you know, I think Green Bay should win this game.
They're going to win this game, in my opinion.
But I think this is gonna be a really good game.
Uh, much like we've seen in the past with the Patriots and teams within the A F C East.
Except for Buffalo.
Um, it's never really been close to Buffalo.
Let's not kid ourselves here, folks.
Um, I'm really just go on that buffalo today.
I feel it. I'm okay. I'm okay with that.
Even if they're gonna win the division, I don't care. That's fine.
You know. Good for you. Good.
Once again, I'm holding up their sheet of Super Bowl championship since the dawn of time and you see it's blank.
Um, okay, 28 years of futility will do that to you.
You get a little taste of power. You wanna go crazy.
We'll see what happens anyways.
I do have Green Bay in this game, but I do think it's gonna be a pretty close game.
And it could be a game that comes down to the wire because, like I said, as we've seen in the past, it doesn't really matter when you're playing intra divisional games because, well, you know each other very well.
And it's always means you're open for a pretty, you know, tight, hotly contested game.
And I think we're going to get that.
But at the end of day, I think the Packers are going to do what they've done well, pretty much every time they play lines and let's beat them.
So, yeah, divisional match ups usually are pretty hotly contested, and especially as you get this late in the season, teams were playing for a lot of pride.
I think the Detroit Lions will give them as much of a game as they possibly can But look, Green Bay just a better team on offense and even on defense.
And, you know, you look at the way they're coached.
They've got the advantage there, you know? Especially with, you know, Detroit right now.
And a lot of upheaval on a lot of uncer*****y there.
Yeah, Green Bay takes this, and I think they take this comfortably meeting by probably by a score, But not much more than that.
I think Detroit hangs around in this one for a long as they can. Yeah.
I definitely think there's gonna be a one score game whether field goal is just to touch down, but we'll see.
Um, Atlanta at the Chargers.
Uh, look, neither team is.
Is that good? We've seen that.
I think they have a lot of struggles.
Some have to do with coaching.
Others have to do with just talent and execution.
I do think the Falcons win this game because based on what we saw from the charges last week, I don't see how they figure things out and enough, you know.
Are they gonna have 45 hung on them again? Probably not, but this Falcons team can score, and I anticipate that they're gonna put up some points and, uh, the charge is not gonna be able to keep up.
So Atlanta And I think they went, Yeah, maybe by double digits.
Yeah, I think you're really seeing the impact that missing a guy like Melvin Ingram on this defense for the Chargers is having Joey Bosa is able to be isolated.
You saw New England do it last week and you saw them do it very effectively.
And that really changes their whole complexity.
All of a sudden, they're not able to defend against the run, and it makes them very porous.
Atlanta can score in so many different ways.
I think they put up a lot of points in this.
I think they surrender some points as well, because that charges offense, I think, gets back on track this week, But I don't think it's gonna be enough.
Atlanta Falcons take this, and they'll probably take it comfortably.
Next, uh, in what? Another potential game of the week.
We have Pittsburgh at Buffalo, Pittsburgh, obviously coming off their first loss of the season, going up against the A F C leading Buffalo Bills, They they smell blood in the water themselves to.
They know the division crown is is within their sights.
And a win over Pittsburgh would go a long way and in securing that.
But But But But I just like saying but But they will not Pittsburgh reading said.
But you you said.
But you said but okay.
I mean, we already have a reputation.
The last thing we need is Thio.
I'll tell you what.
When, when you get on camera, you could wear your A C d C.
T shirt and you're gonna throw on one from the talent.
Yeah, I got one.
Um uh, Pearl Jam.
Okay, we'll save this for the I. We'll see.
We'll save this bit for the off season because we're gonna have plenty of time to do stupid things.
I think Pittsburgh, you know, certainly has their issues.
And I question whether or not they're they're going to make a a long playoff run just because I think there are teams better than the A f c and look, Buffalo, maybe one of those better teams than the A F.
I just don't see Pittsburgh losing this game after their poor performance on last week.
I think they rebound in a close game.
I mean, they're not gonna blow the bills out, But the Bills have been vulnerable at times, and I don't think they've, you know, had they played enough teams that have been able to take advantage of that and really hand them a loss.
And I think Pittsburgh's going to do that this week, and, like I said, a very close, bit exciting game.
I, uh we're really you know what? One of us is really gonna have some bragging rights this weekend.
The other one's really We're gonna be, uh, exactly yeah, exactly and have no bragging rights and just split the difference.
But I'm going with Buffalo in this one.
I saw enough in the Bills last weekend with Josh Allen having just a huge game, really coming, improving that he's legitimate quarterback and, um, someone that can be relied upon to carry this team.
They're clicking on offense right now.
Without any question, I think the defense is getting healthy and buffalo.
I think they do smell blood in the water, and I think they look at that.
Some of the difficulties that Pittsburgh that and they exploit the buffalo takes this in a razor thin game.
And I think this has the potential to be game of the week.
Oh, another another big game.
And this is our Monday night game.
We're gonna We're actually gonna picket today because we always kind of forget, You know, we want to make sure we get it all in there.
We have the Baltimore Ravens at the e surprising, surprising 93 Cleveland Browns.
And you know what? This this this is going to be the This is gonna be the death knell for the Baltimore Ravens.
I think Cleveland takes this one and maybe eliminates all hope that they make it into the playoffs because they've lost some games and they've lost some key games. The FC competitors.
So I got Cleveland went in this one and go into 10 and three Cleveland Browns.
I've got Cleveland winning this one as well, and I've got them, uh, you know, going to 10 and three.
Look, you know, my, uh, my spirit animal, the great Rodney Debate field joined us here yesterday on the pod, and he said that the Cleveland Browns were one of those teams that wasn't wasn't going to be respect.
You know, Andi? Uh, yeah, I think I think Cleveland is kind of kind of upset about that.
For lack of a better term.
I think they prove that they're for real.
This team can definitely play.
I like what I see from both sides of the ball.
I like what I see out of the game planning and the coaching of Kevin Stefanski.
Uh, they take this against the Baltimore Ravens and put a severe dent into their playoff hopes.
And in the process, in the process, keep the Patriots slim.
Slim slim hopes alive.
I'm kidding, folks.
You know, I mean, technically mathematically, they would, but yeah, that's the It ain't happening in Foxboro this year.
But all kidding aside, Cleveland takes this one, and I think they beat the Ravens on Monday.
I like it, so at least we agree on the final one, and that's all we're going to remember.
So, folks, thank you very much for tuning into our nonsense for yet another day and another week.
