What's up, everybody also.
What's up? What's up? I guess so in this, Um so in this broadcast, we're gonna talk about the Saints Final 53 man roster and, uh, kind of break it down a little bit.
Yeah, so we'll start with the offense of the New Orleans Saints.
Uh, quarterbacks, obviously.
Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater and Taste of Hill.
Um, they sold Teddy Bridgewater listed as the number two behind breeze.
But after the strong preseason by a teddy bear by Sorry, I tased him Hill.
It wouldn't surprise me at all the fiends of being the backup at some point this year.
But we all know Sean Payton's when you use tastes, um, pretty much a million different ways, so I'm not too concerned about it.
Um, you know, he'll play special teams will do all that.
So it's gonna be could be fun.
As always, Running backs Alvin Kamara, the TV ist Murray and Dwayne Washington.
Um, it was an interesting battle, as I talked about in a previous I'm broadcast, um, that it was a really intriguing battle for that last running back spot between Divine Ozick bo and doing in Washington.
But they went with the better in Dwayne Washington instead of divine Zebo.
Um, but their whole intention was to try to get Divino Zabel on the practice squad.
But it's one that we released him.
The Jacksonville Jack wires came and swooped him up very quickly.
So we do not have him on our practice.
What? Unfortunately, but, you know, it is what it is I like.
I kind of favorite due in Washington as well.
I mean, obviously divine Is they both? You kinda reminds me of marking grow, but Washington's definitely, you know, he knows our offense.
You play with us.
Last year had a lot of success with this last year, so I think that's probably a smart move.
Ana, you never questioned Sean Payton, especially when we're flirting with the Super Bowl of past couple seasons here.
The fullback competition was between exact line and Mike Burton, Obviously, Zach Klein wanted, so he'll return is our fullback for the, I believe, the fourth consecutive season, so usually we don't keep fullbacks around for that long.
But Zach Line's been here for a while, and he's Ah, you've been very good, very reliable.
He scores touchdowns.
You just thinks a fullback, so usually do so.
You know, that's obviously really good and exciting for him.
And I I love Zach Klein.
I think he's one of the more underrated full backs in the NFL, so it's definitely nice to keep him around.
Wide receivers kept Deante Harris um, he was the kid who at the party turned touchdown.
Um, he beat out Marcus Sherels for the starting return.
Returning job like kicking part returns beyond two here, says our guy.
And I was really excited to see that because he worked really hard during camp.
And, you know, unfortunately for Marcus Sherels, he was battling injury, so it wasn't really even a competition.
But, you know, I'm really happy for you onto Harris.
I got to chat with him a little bit on Instagram, and he's a really humble guy.
Comes out of Assumption College and just he just is just a all around great guy.
And, um, yeah, second receiver.
We can't obviously Michael Thomas.
I'm now big extension in the off season, so it's nice to have that deal done and over with, and we could just focus on the season one of the NFL's best receivers, and I think the Saints have him one of the most underrated receiving cores in the NFL trade.
He was our second round rookie at a UCF last year.
Um, so that's exciting.
Obviously, Um, I think he's gonna have a breakout year.
I think you know, he's probably gonna be end up being like our third or fourth guy, and I think he's gonna get a lot of catches against 3rd 4th string corners.
So it's gonna be interesting.
Um, I'm excited, very excited, because I like our receiver depth.
The fact that we have guys who could be starting we could be like number one and number two receivers that are gonna be our four and five receivers is just absolutely exciting.
Um, we just get Keith Kirkwood there.
He kind of broke out, and since he broke out, Sorry about that.
He broke out in the Cincinnati Bangles game last year.
He came off the practice squad because we needed an extra receiver to replaced again and he came in, broke out and stayed on the roster of the rest of the way.
He had a great rookie year and I'm excited to see if you can do in his second year.
Um, yeah, he's tall, Lengthy has some speed, so yeah, um, we kept Ted Ginn Jr again.
Junior. Obviously veteran.
You can also he'll probably be back there along with, uh, Deante Harris to return some kicks, but, uh, yeah, you know, he's very versatile, old man, very fast.
Um, this is gonna be our number two guy.
Right off the bat will be Mike Thomas and, uh, Ted Ginn Jr.
And then, you know, probably backed up trade Kwan, Smith and then Kirkwood.
But then on the last receiver that we kept is ah, Austin car.
Drew Brees in Austin Car bill.
And I think that's what ended up.
What? That's what made them end up choosing Austin car over a young guy like Emmanuel Butler or a little George Humphrey who got I kind of figured, especially little Jordan home.
Forget really that he would make the roster, but, um, he didn't mean that's okay.
Um, you know, you got to go with a guy you have trust and ultimately, especially New Year's.
Crucial Is this So you know, it is what it is.
Um, one thing that kind of surprised me in the final fit.
The fact that we only kept two tight ends.
I thought we were gonna keep three.
And I thought it was a battle for the third spot between Dan Arnold and Elise a Mac, both of who were put on the practice squad.
Um, but we only kept two tight ends.
We kept, um, former Raider, big free agent signing in the off season for us. Jerry Cooke.
Uh, he's gonna be our starting tight end.
And then, uh, we also they also kept Josh Hill, who signed a two year extension of this in the off season as well.
So we kept those two guys, they're very good.
And, uh, recently the Saints have been working out some other tight end.
So you have to assume that maybe they're gonna sign 1/3 or maybe move up and are in order, Elise a Mac.
But, um, I don't I don't think they're gonna actually go with just two tight ends, especially since Jared Cook is older and you don't know if he's going to stay healthy or not.
And Joshua, he's a very good tight end.
He's reliable, tight end, but he's not the best tight end.
And I think there's a couple for agents that the Saints were working out.
Um, I don't remember who, but never, ever since all the tight ends in the market still available that we were working out.
So don't be surprised if the Saints end up signing a tight end and off.
See, I'll bring it to you if and when we signed a Titan.
All right, often two tackles.
We kept Toronto.
Armstead, Ah, Andrews, Pete Ryan, Graham Check and Ethan Greenidge are Andrew's Peak.
He's one of the NFL's best offense of tackles.
Has been, since he's been in the league.
Battle some injuries, but he stayed healthy for most of the year last year, so I'm excited.
Hopefully, you can stay healthy and keep Drew Brees protected back there. Andrews.
He can play guard and tackle.
He's gonna start the years that guard alongside Larry Warford, I believe, and um, yeah, he's been very good.
You've been very reliable, doesn't really ever gotten injured, but I noticed in the last preseason game he was holding quite a bit.
Hopefully, he gets that straightened away, so we don't have toe deal with all these penalties.
All right? Ryan Ram check.
He's gonna be the other starting offensive tackle alongside Toronto.
Armstead, Um, he's been outstanding in his career so far.
Ever since we drafted him and the ah, with the 32nd pick a few years back.
It was the same year. Be drafted.
No stuff on Anthony.
Maybe one of those guys I don't remember.
So isn't very reliable.
Hasn't missed any games I don't believe.
And, uh, and then a rookie from Villanova who I actually went on had a Q and A with him on my instagram earlier this year at Saints Highlights.
If you guys are interested in following, um, Ethan Greenidge, I had a Q and A with him.
He's a rookie out of Villanova.
Very humble kid.
Very nice guy to talk to.
Amused from the second I talked to him.
No, I know he was gonna be competing hard to Ah, try and get him a roster spot.
And he did just that.
He looked very good in the preseason.
It doesn't surprise me at all, but he got a roster spot.
Um, offensive guards we kept three.
Oh, May We signed him from Jacksonville during training camp.
So, um, he made the cut, and I like what he brings to the table.
He's a good veteran guy and he'll back up.
He'll be a backup to start the season, but if anybody goes down, I think he'd be a good plug in.
Um, offensive guard slash Inter Nick East and we assigned him.
He was one of our bigger free agent signings in the off season for Minnesota, so he made the cut.
Obviously, he can also play center for us if need be.
Yeah, and then Larry Warford is going to start at the other guard position alongside Andrews.
Pete, He's a Pro Bowler.
Not much more to say about it.
He's a great offensive guard, and I think we have a very, very good offensive line coming into the 2019 2020 season, and I think everybody's gonna have plenty of time to stand back there, find these guys and yeah, I think it's gonna I think when the season's all sitting down, as long as we stay healthy, we're gonna have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.
So I'm excited, um, to centers will clap.
He's gonna back up the rookie Eric McCoy, who we drafted in the second round of text, saying them this past year.
So, yeah, we'll see what? Ah, I mean, obviously, we'll clap.
He can play guard as well, but I'm really excited to see if Eric McCoy's gonna transition.
Well, he's got big shoes to fill the Max Unger, obviously.
So, yeah, we'll see what happens there.
Now that's all for the often set of the ball.
Bring it over to the defense of side of the ball.
Now, Um, we kept five defensive ends Marcus Davenport, Trey Hendrickson, Cameron Jordan, Mario Edwards Jr and Wes Horton.
So we kept those guys.
I feel like West.
Horton's probably expendable.
If the seams were to bring in another tight end, I think he would probably beat a man to go simply because, I mean, where are you have four defensive ends and all four of those guys are gonna boy a lot.
So yeah, obviously returning a second year guy markets Davenport.
He's, ah, projected to break out by every ESPN analyst I've seen.
They're all projecting markets.
Davenport to be the breakout player Saints this year.
Tree Henderson is a very solid, reliable backup.
He's ah, he played very well in the preseason.
I'm excited to see what he's gonna do with the regular season.
Um, Cameron Jordan, obviously a Pro Bowler.
I think you finished number 41 on the top 100 players this past season.
And then, um so obviously, he's going to start alongside Davenport and then Marty.
Late words, Junior who was signed for, um, I'm a big Florida State.
Fans won't know.
Mario Edwards is very, very good.
It's just a matter of being consistent staying healthy with him, but he will be a backup.
So evidence intriguing to see how he does this season New Orleans way.
Move on to the defense of tackles.
Defensive tackles to, ah, start off the season.
You know, they're just please note the only reason David suspended for the first game of the season.
Um, following an arrest in the off season.
I believe that's what the suspension is for, but we kept four for now, but I wouldn't be surprised if after this first game shy Tuttle, who the first time I'm gonna talk about if he gets moved over to, like the practice water or something.
Four guys shy Total.
Malcolm Brown, Taylor Stallworth and Sheldon Rankins.
I'm really excited to see that Sheldon Rankins is not on the injured reserve like everybody kind of thought he was gonna be starting off the season due to his Ah, Achilles injury in the NFC championship game last year.
But he's recovered very quickly, very well, and they think he could be back as soon as like Week three or weak, for which is extremely exciting because, um, he's great defense attack waste the anchor of our defense, and we're great to have him back.
Um, Taylor Stallworth.
He was a breakout rookie for us last year in the little and the Limited snaps.
A guy you played very well.
He was a rookie out of South Carolina last year, so I'm excited to see how he builds on his second year.
We signed him as a free agent from the New England Patriots.
Uh, he's Tyler Davison's replacement, and he's so big up from Tyler Davidson.
So he'll start Week one alongside, um, probably Taylor Stallworth or Trade Henderson.
Do you think could probably play that second defensive tackle rule.
Um, and then the fourth guy is shy.
Undrafted free agent out of Tennessee.
And, um, he played very well in the preseason, so I'm excited to see what he does in the regular season as, um, you know, like I said who probably just be on the active roster for this week.
And then one statement on you bought it comes back, you'll probably go to the practice squad.
Um, on Yamada coming him coming back.
Week two is gonna be huge for us.
And I'm extremely excited about that.
Okay, let's see here.
We kept quite a few in the role.
Very, very good.
I'm excited about our linebacking corps this year.
I think it's the best has been at several years.
Honestly, I think it's probably the best linebacking corps we've had since our Super Bowl win back in 2009.
Um, so we have Alexander Bologna.
We have Kiko, Alonzo, the Mario Davis, A J.
Klein, Craig Robertson and in a rookie, Tate and Ellis.
Uh, let's start from the top.
Alexandra Loney Obviously, he's been a starting linebacker for us for a few years now.
Uh, linebacker out of Florida.
I think he's coming into his fourth year, always making great plays on the ball.
And, uh, yeah, that's exciting, for sure.
And he'll start this year alongside newly acquired Kiko Alonso.
We got Kiko Alonso.
We didn't trade anybody about Vince Biegel for like, That's a huge steel.
He's gonna make it instant impact on our defense.
He's going to start week one.
I mean, it's absolutely insane.
Oh, so we have Kiko Alonso now from the Miami Dolphins, part hitting linebacker, Controversial linebacker.
But we already talked about all that in my last st okay? And then starting alongside Kiko Alonso is the Mario Davis.
The especially guys we talked about are all gonna be started.
Martin Davis was our defense of captain last year.
Um, very excited to see how he acts.
Um, how he responds to a great first season with us, and I think he's gonna do very well.
Backing them up is a J.
Klein who was supposed to be the starter coming into Week one.
But he's now a backup.
He's a very good backup started with us the past couple years.
Craig Robertson, Great special teams guy and then cake.
A rookie who? I wouldn't be surprised if he played a little tight end for us, which could be a reason why we only have two tight ends, you know, probably for a little taste of Hill.
And they're a tight end like we did last year and paid.
No, it's actually, Yeah, it was known for playing both sides of the ball in college, so we'll see what happens here in the NFL.
Williams, Patrick Robinson, Marchant, Latimore, Justin Hardy, J T.
Gray, Can Crawley and Eli Apple.
Um, obviously, the starters are going to be Ah Marshawn Lattimore, you Apple and Patrick Robinson.
But I'm really happy to have P.
Williams back um, and Justin hard.
He's a great special teamer.
Gray was a guy who I really noticed in the preseason was just absolutely, always making plays, always around the ball, making tackles, make a play on the ball.
So I'm really excited to see him.
You can play safety as well, so he's gonna be a very good addition for us and then Ken Crawley.
He's probably the first guy to go If we need a different position, He's just I don't know why we kept it.
Maybe he made significant progress in the preseason in the during training camp and stuff, but I'm really noticed anything different.
I just not a big Ken Crawley fan.
So you know, I don't know how much longer he'll be on our roster, but I have to figure how very sure.
And then safety's Von Bell, Marcus Williams, Chauncey Gardner, Johnson and say, Quan Hampton, We cut, um, Crisp Anjo.
Who was the guy who was a great special team and a big clubhouse locker room guy for us? So I was a little bit of surprising couple, you know, cuts have to be made, and, uh, I like the four safeties we kept, especially with J. T. Gray being.
It would have played both corner and safety.
We end up actually having five safeties instead of floor, so that's always a good thing we have on Bill.
He's gonna start alongside Marcus Williams, but don't be surprised if Marcus Williams struggles to start the year and the Chauncey Gardner Johnson ends up being a replacement.
Chauncey look very good in the preseason, so I'm excited to see what he brings to the table and say What? Hampton? Very good during training camp, All right, and then wrapping this stream up.
Special teams kicker will What's planter Thomas Moore said, And long snapper Zach Would Best St 53 man roster.
Thanks for tuning in.
I'll see you guys Monday as thes Saints host the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.
