What is going on? Ladies and gentlemen, we are excited to bring you another edition of the Nikki's show.
And with us today from the Philippines is my man Bag Naci.
Oh, How you doing, man? Welcome to the show.
And welcome as a latest guest on Nick ish at night.
How you doing? Hey, guys, happy to be here.
Um, it's not exactly night here.
It's around nine.
In the morning, but yeah, this'll is my version of your knickers.
I'll cheers to that, man.
E got water, So I think that's good enough.
Alright, man, I appreciate you coming on.
I mean, for for our viewers and listeners, Um, you are legitimately, um, you know, going live from the Philippines, right? 10 years.
A letter? Yeah. Don't worry.
Did you get a chance of your novice question? Oh, no.
I was just a list of the viewers.
Yeah, No worries.
I was just saying for all our listeners and viewers, you're you're legit, you know, talk talking to us.
Live from the Philippines right now, right? Repping the Knicks overseas.
Um, me and my partner partner.
We're actually wondering, how did that all start? You know, how did you really, you know, become a Knicks fan? Was it kind of like a family thing or, you know, you watch the game and just, you know, found love with the orange and blue.
Okay, So the thing about okay, so just, uh, has a quick thing.
Um, here in the Philippines, I guess because there's a bigger Filipino community on the West Coast like l a.
And whatever a lot of the Philippine fans or families are later stands.
I for me, that was never the case.
Because I remember the first game.
I consciously remember watching Waas that next that next heat game, the Allan Houston shot Andi, that's That's the one I remember seeing first.
Um, and I was I was like, Okay, so at the time, I was five and I was trying to, like, really grasp the concept of you know what basketball is just tryingto figure out how the sport is played, because all I knew the time was like heroes and villains from, like, TV shows and whatever that I watched so I I remember.
So like, I remember seeing that and I saw the Allan Houston shot and like the way he celebrated and the way that his teammates were celebrating around.
And I'm like, Wow, this guy must feel like a big hero.
E mean a time at the time, like he wasn't the biggest next guy because we felt we tell that batch viewing we had spree.
We had guys like Candy and Charlie Ward.
So seeing that and seeing like the whole team concept of that, I was like, Wow, like, maybe I should Theme looks really good.
Maybe I should follow it.
And so I ended up watching, watching further from that.
And that's how I became a Knicks fan.
Um, my brother also watches, but he's more of the type to follow a certain Blair rather than a cer*****y.
So, uh, he was the one that got me on the Knicks.
I mean, got me onto watching the Knicks.
My mom was kind of like, Why are you so obsessed with the Knicks? Like what it was like? I don't know.
It's just it's sentimental value.
Its first thing I watched and I was like, really happy about it.
Yeah, I think I think all of our moms have asked the same questions.
I know my mom has always. Athlete.
You know why you're rooting for the Knicks? They they lose all the time.
Go for a winning team? Um, e you're always cursing the stuff when you watch him while you even watch e don't know.
Your your husband's, uh, you know, brothers and stuff.
So you became a fan of Allan Houston after that shot, and you thought that this team was pretty good and little did you know, for the next 20 years, they'd be absolute trash on.
Yeah, here we are talking about that well, some 20 years later about and you did mention that Allan Houston is one of your favorite players or your favorite player of all time.
Um, we've had the pleasure of interviewing him in a past interview, and he's such a great guy.
And he's I believe he's still assistant for the Knicks.
Yeah, has taken.
He's the That's just the Knicks.
Or either that or the G m for that.
Like he was one of the only people I remember.
He was one of the only people that wasn't really, you know, when they were cleaning house when they were replacing, getting guys like, uh, when you were getting guys like Walt barren and allow that he was like, When I don't yeah, remain? Yeah, I think he's still there.
I think he's like, you know, one of Dolan's favorites, you know? So he's probably got a job for life. E.
I think it's good to keep a guy who just knows everybody from from top to bottom and can really be kind of that liaison throughout throughout the front office.
Um, so you know, being being a Knicks fan overseas.
Are there a lot of Knicks fans? Would you say, I know you mentioned a lot of Laker fans, but you come across anyone else wearing orange and blue.
There are like, Don't get me wrong.
There are fans here of the Knicks.
It's just a little hard to find, especially because here you don't really get a lot of sports channels.
So any time when next game is on a sports channel, that means that it's a national.
It's like on uh, it's like a national T national game or something like that.
Uh, other than that, I really have to, like, you know, find the stream.
Like I gotta find a stream to watch the game.
Um, or I just gotta follow it like by box scores or by Twitter.
Okay? Eso I guess maybe that's also part of the reason why there's, like, a smaller community and expands here.
It's not really broadcast as much.
Uh, not like there where you guys got like MSG Network.
So it's, like, literally nothing games.
That's the Yeah, cool, man.
Get a false It works out.
Well, is the Knicks games around this time? So you're probably waking up and just turn on your TV and just put watching the Knicks game just get up for the rest of the day after they lose s The hard part about it was, um, when I was studying, then the games would be on during when, when it was time for tool time for class.
So it's like you got a gun to the computer lab during recess and lunch time. Just like ****.
What's the What's the score of the game with a score of the game.
Who's winning? Eso uh, whenever.
But whenever it would be like matinee games.
Um, then, you know, as a kid, I tryto try to stay up for that because, like, 12, uh, midnight here.
What? I am here.
I understand for that.
Gotta gotta got to, man.
It's in our blood.
Were Knicks fans, you know? Um, so, yeah, I mean, it's a It's a wonderful time for all basketball fans.
I think, you know, season starting soon, first pre season game this Friday.
Um, just before we start talking about the season, what do you think of, you know the are rookies will be topping Emmanuel quickly, you know? Mhm.
Okay, so I'll be honest.
So I didn't really think we draft will be topping.
I was one of the people that was hoping that we would get Killian Hayes.
Just because you're our way.
We're really live in here.
Just be our third calls Now.
I think the reason I wanted Gillian Hayes was because I'm I'm the kind of player that I'm the kind of gather legs basketball players that can play both sides of the ball pretty well.
So I knew that Gillian had, like, good good vision for a point guard.
And he had, like, defensive tendencies.
He wasn't like the quickest, the most athletic guy, but used everything he could to his advantage s I was hoping for that, but with when I got stopping, I wasn't really up or down just because I knew that Detroit was also trying to get like, a point guard.
And they were trying toe And, you know, since they were ahead of us, unless we did like a trade where we swapped it like maybe the hawks or the cabs for the pick and maybe try to get AIDS with that, uh, then I would be happy with, Like with Toppan.
I just kind of learned Thio not really learned Thio.
He got thick, I lifted his highlights.
Um and it excites me As for quickly e hey, didn't really have he didn't really He wasn't really on my radar to be I'll be honest.
He was really operator, so I had to do the same thing.
Look up, look up.
Look up, how we played and everything.
I think he has that worker like that Hard work mentality.
I hope that it translates Dio having a good credit like having a good roll on, because for some of these guys, it's harder to watch.
It's harder to watch them here because they don't really project, um, college basketball here, uh, A.
And so if someone does follow, um, these these kids from the start of their college careers, that really means that they're looking for as many strange as possible or as many ways the watch games.
It's not as easy.
But you know, we may do it.
What we get for sure, like that motto.
Yeah, I think we're all in the same boat.
Once you start watching top in highlights where we all just think of the potential of how it look at MSG, there's gonna be a lot of highlights and Brexit for that.
It's funny you say killing him because he's gonna be the first rookie that top is gonna go head to head against this Friday pre season.
Um, that Pistons lineup is very interesting.
No one, really one team that has so many question marks on what? You know what they are? Um and we'll see.
We'll see how well killing Hayes plays.
Um, actually, I don't know if you got a chance to see Tom Thibodeau commented on quickly today, and he mentioned that he's one of he could possibly be one of the best shooters if not on the team.
I don't know, he said.
I don't think that m e said MBA for sure.
Yeah, he said MBA.
Then e man could shoot.
And that's something that that the Knicks don't have.
Um, what's your What's your thoughts about the general summer we saw? Free agency is pretty much out of clothes, the next sitting at Russell Westbrook or Chris Paul to major names that were connected to the Knicks.
Um, are you cool with that? Or were you were you kind of hoping for a big, splashy move? Uh, Jessi, I am cool with it.
I was I was okay with not getting Russell Westbrook.
It's official. We gotta make my third Coast way.
Didn't always broke either, bro.
No, it's it's because we've we've done this process of like the building for so long that we've never really gotten do actually doing it.
The right way and not like with not with the on Rose and whatnot, even if it's like his first.
Like barely into his first year, he's already kind of showing me science is that he's not going to do this like the cheap way the old Isaiah Tom's um, it's almost James Dolan way where any time a big, splashy name is made available, both you you sell the farm for that planetary or team chemistry, isn't there? We You guys know we've been through too many of those, uh, a car? Uh huh.
Like I remember you saw.
Remember, I know you guys remember the step on Marbury era exciting there.
The chemistry's wasn't there, that the team was just kind of a mess.
And we trade away pic after pic and and all that the Carmelo Anthony one.
I still like that. He played for the next.
We is just kind of We could have waited a little bit.
Maybe had a deeper team.
Had more like support unit for him, like s.
So we don't have to trade away Gallo.
We don't have to trade away Wilson. Chandler.
Uh, they would have been there.
Back him up who knows? Like it's It's one of those what ifs? The Chris Paul one.
Maybe I was a little more.
Maybe I wanted Chris Paul a little more just because you could you really set, uh, he could set some of the young guys straight.
He could be a mentor to Frank.
Uh, he could really He could turn mentioned the like a better virtually from lob city.
Ah, I think he would be able to play well with R. J.
Because I'm I'm over the big arctic, actually play with anyone.
He'll adjust to it.
Um, people will know their roles, but, you know, I'm okay. We didn't get him.
I'm actually more happy we didn't get, uh, a three.
Uh, e mean as far as the moves that we have made, you know, e feel like the roster is pretty much set.
Unless we trade Randall, which I don't know about you.
I'm hoping we get rid of Randall, but I'm just looking at the roster right now.
Just off the top of your head.
What do you What do you think is gonna be the starting five and just what? What would be your preferred starting five, you know.
Okay, I'll start with my preferred starting five.
Um, I would obviously want track to start, like, at the at the one I have to give me.
Berks Do do mhm.
They could get going to be interchangeable of that same train that RJ should play the three more he should plan to do A to the far give at the far I would want to see all the only for sure the five.
I wanna I'd want to see Mitch as fighting five just because I think there's you wanna, you know, want the lead a little more like he's like he said in the Like he said in media camp and training camp on that the veterans really gonna be a plate.
The young guys are gonna have to earn their minutes because it's just not It's not just gonna be given to them.
So I think it might be Yeah, might be Dayton starting.
Maybe the birds and the birds and the Barrett one is gonna be Maybe that's the only one I got right? The birds and the barrett or they change.
Um, Randall is gonna be at the floor, Uh, and probably Mitch at the five.
But Noel will probably give him more of his money, Just the kind of, you know, just the kind of get his mind in the right place.
Uh, like, I'm sure you guys and the guys on other next split next year's have been saying where he's got to get that sense of professionalism in him, But I'm still I still think he's going to start, but he's just gonna have someone breathing down his neck so far, hopefully, that that that knocks, Um, that knocks.
So that knocked some sense and then the, you know, got to get my **** together and got to realize that, you know, I'm in my third year third or I'm not in my Yeah, yeah, I'm in my third year at this time, You know, it's time to get me.
Give them a reason to show them why I should get paid and all this.
Yeah, also, just don't get me wrong.
Uh, for for my Julius government.
He's a good guy.
He's a good guy like you.
See, You see those clips for the kids and all that, and I'm a guy just as a as a basketball player on the line of it's kind of frustrating.
Um, like, spend in tow three p a double.
Uh, like I don't wanna have to see, Like, RJ literally having to, like, way of his arms up and down.
Next thing you know, he's gonna need to have, like, a flag on the cart.
I'm open right here.
Give me the e spends stands in their way, people.
Yeah, maybe we're keeping Randall just like example for all.
Be like, Hey, don't do that.
What? Brando just don't do that.
No spend moves past two.
RJ sometimes, Yeah.
You know, my my hope is I mean, Randall, like you mentioned, is a really good guy.
Last thing I'd want is a pouty player again, who's just jealous of the minutes that he's not getting.
We see what we saw that with Cantor.
We saw that with so many players like, it's not, it's not even worth the time going down memory lane thing.
Of all the players who were just upset about the minutes that they weren't getting because a younger player was getting it, uh, I am definitely not down to see that.
I don't think Randall is kind of that guy.
It would be unfair.
Peg him as as one.
But there's a point in even putting that possibility there, especially since he's getting the most money on that team.
Um, sure, but yeah, I think I think everyone here pretty much agrees that the direction that Leon Rose is taking the Knicks, and you know, don't it's important.
It's important to note that he was trying to make some splashy moves.
But he at least in cross that threshold of getting desperate and making that extra push because, you know, we know he was trying to Gordon Hayward.
We know he was interested in other players that he didn't end up getting, which, you know, all of us fans are okay with and happy with.
Um, you gotta go.
Go full Steve Mills.
You know, not to interrupt, right? Yeah.
Acknowledged if you had a kind of a timeline on when the Knicks are going to be a top three team on the east.
How many? How many seasons would you give that two decades from now? Oh, no.
You ask you ask your boys.
Natcho top three.
Uh, I'll be Al Qaeda be realistic with us.
I can't six a just because, uh, there are a few teams that are still ahead of us.
Um, in terms of like they've built, they built their team, Right? Um, some of their guys, they're gonna be some of the guys in the right headspace, Um, like legs. The Raptors.
I don't think the Raptors are gonna be, you know, that theme the next season, but I think they will be one of the top teams just because they kept a lot of their car, Maybe they lost the back.
Sure, Onda, but they have it.
And the thing is, those guys air, those guys are pretty humble, like you got vanvleet who was like an MBA player are, like, Who wasn't like, you know, that big of a name two or three seasons ago, you got Siaca.
Who, you know he was He came from very humble roots.
And you got guys there really willing Thio buy into the concept.
So for the I'm just hoping that's what the Knicks are going to be within the next, like 3 to 5 years, Even if they won't be a top team.
It'll show that they're willing to buy into the team concept.
And slowly, but surely they'll get out of, you know, get out of the ba*****t.
Uh, even seeing them compete for a playoff spot is going to be exciting.
What more being in the playoffs.
So, yeah, I can't really say give me maybe a little fast.
Five years, realistically, because we still need to see how guys like R.
J and we'll be stopping find out.
You can see how that is, like mentioned Frank.
If he's still gonna be on the team pan out, Um, and you got to see what we get from future assets like the 2023 draft, which is like, you guys like you guys said before, it's it's a stack draft class just because that's the job last where the high school players gonna be eligible.
So I'm sure these guys have been doing their homework.
I don't mind if we don't make the splashy moves.
Um, just because more often than not, that has come to buy this back in. Yes.
I mean, you mentioned go ahead because I was just gonna make a comment, saying, It's it's incredibly refreshing to hear from, Ah person who were meeting now for the first time.
Actually talk smart about Knicks basketball and a lot of ways, brother, I'm saying Wait, no, I'm saying like all of the guests we had on we've known them for a little bit.
But you know, there's the occasional guest such as yourself, who are me for the first time on our show.
And, um, it's it's incredibly its's great to meet someone now.
It's not just on the show, it's just in general in life because there's so many.
Yeah, we're in New York right now and we run into Knicks fans all the time who want that splash.
You move, who are upset that Westbrook isn't on the Knicks right now.
And and the fact that you're speaking like ballot points and preaching patience is awesome to see, despite, you know, being overseas.
This is this is great for sure.
I mean, I got e good for me with that is you gotta You gotta understand.
Like when you draft these kids, they're barely old enough to buy a beer.
So why are you trying to write them off after like five games is like five games, and he's not.
He's not throwing up 15 30 points a game.
$23 games like Do is gonna be a bust like the dude doesn't even freaking 21.
Why are you writing about? You got like I can't imagine what it's like for these n B players who get like these constant, like random tweets from like random guys on Twitter or even Instagram was like, You suck, dude, you shot like trying for 12 in that game was like He's 19.
He's 20 like not everyone okay, Not everyone is gonna find out to be like a John Moran or like a pedantic who from the get go there were amazing.
But people have to realize a Don checks came from Madrid and from the Euro league, which is probably, like most competitive league in the world next to the NBA.
So he was really primed, ready to play against guys older than him.
Bigger than him.
Um, Barrett is literally 19.
Frank was, what, 18 when we drafted them 17.
It's confusing because like you draft a guy like tough and then people are like, Oh, my God is so old.
Why do we drafted guys like, Seriously, I don't get it like I really don't get it.
I I hear these people preach about trusting the process and drafting and patients and all that ****.
But the second the rookie goes like 11 for 10 on the fields like, Oh my God, why we drafted? Why don't we draft blah? Or, like they think, Why didn't reject this guy like Hindsight's always 2020 Bless.
It's the next you know.
It's it's a ****ed if we do ****ed if we don't situation like with Michael Porter Jr.
You remember what happened with you? He he exploded for like, 30 points in blah, blah, blah.
Um, which I think, you know, bubble stats could be a little inflated.
We'll have to see for the season.
You're like, Oh my God, I can't believe I can't believe the Knicks can't believe the Knicks past on Michael Porter Jr is like, Yeah, we passed on him because he had, like, back issues.
Yeah, he was, like in a wheelchair, basically like, Hey, was Stephen Hawking at that point like, why would we draft him.
I wouldn't like, you know, it's not a knock on the guy.
It's like the guy.
I'm sure the guy is a great player.
I'm sure you know what what he thinks.
I can't say, but I'm sure he's a great guy.
Maybe he'll be will turn out to be a great player, but at the time back issues.
Glad I don't know about Yeah, get back issues.
And at the time, we were already dealing with players who had their own injury issues.
So way don't want the We don't want the medical medical room to be filled with these players hanging up there more than they do on the court.
I feel like ESPN would have destroyed us because at that point, KP was still recovering from a torn a c l Right.
So then if we picked like Michael Porter Jr.
We would have just been ripped to shreds.
They probably would've said, How could they pass on Knox? He's from Kentucky, You know what I mean? Like ****ed if we do, ****ed if we don't, man, it is.
You said it perfectly at ESPN.
Probably knows that.
You know, at this point It's for shock value that gets the money than for sharing.
Because I'm sure even if you act like a non Knicks fan, um, hopefully if they're like us, they don't go for the shock value and all that.
They listen, Martha their own, like, you know, grassroots.
Like like you guys grassroots like like lock down next, or guys like Macri and all that.
I'm sure they have.
They have whatever team they support.
They have their own version of that, that they listen to them more than listen to Yes.
Especially with, like, be drafted.
This theme that's actually the draft.
That's like things is just really more toe.
I love people to get a reaction out of them.
So it's like past listening.
I was actually curious if you've ever actually attended a game.
A chemistry, if you had the chance to Mm.
That's one of the things on my bucket list because, uh, not sure what the school year is like there.
But here when I was a kid, my summers would be March, April May bond.
Obviously, when I was growing up, like when I was around 89 10 around that time next basketball was done.
We were in the play off.
So if I had a chance to go to the States and see a game, it would never be a next game.
Because, like the time you know E Yeah, well, unless they do make the playoffs, In which case you can come in around that summer time and we'll talk about details on this podcast.
I'm hoping I'm e I live.
I I'm still hoping.
I do hope that I have a belief like I might be realistic, but I try to be optimistic as well, especially with guys with guys like this.
Um, like I'm hoping it's not.
It's just just a few more years, like just a few more years like fingers crossed and like, Like just hoping, knocking on wood like, Yeah, come on, come on, come on.
Healthy, healthy, healthy.
No injuries like healthy, healthy culture.
What you talk about hope, though.
I mean, I feel like a lot of our hopes, at least as of now as a franchise, kind of rest on, You know that this 20 year old kid we just drafted last year.
J you know, highest pick since, um, Patrick Ewing, number three overall pick.
So I guess we like to ask kind of every guest.
You know, obviously he's he's our He's our prospect. He's our boy.
We kind of like to ask to guess what they think of R.
J and what they envisioned for him in the future.
So I'll give it to you right now, man, what do you What do you think are they will become And what do you hope or you know, what to expect from this season? I think, RJ Well, try to make sure he takes leaps forward, especially because you remember that when they asked him, How did he feel about getting snubbed from being on all your teams? Uh, that that's got a light, A fire under him, Especially given this, he's got a competitive nature with him.
I mean, you saw it like stopping and like when they ask, Topping and Barrett were like the two guys that were, like most physically ready to compete when when they entered training camp, and it's like I could I could just picture them trying to one up each other and like friendly competition is like I could jump higher, You know, I could jump higher.
No, I could run fast.
You know, I e I do think he has that.
He's got that firing him.
He's got that firing him.
Um, it Z I time will tell what kind of MBA player he becomes.
I have hopes for him.
I had hopes for Dublin, I when it comes to the other draft picks, like from the previous years, Uh, I was a little discouraged with Knox, but we'll see what happens.
Um, just because, like from a great rookie season, he got ahead of Wall E might just be like this, Talking more slump way Don't know, uh, with Frank, I think it's really just a confidence issue.
I mean, we saw what happened when we gave them extended minutes.
Uh, I think the fact that Fizdale never really knew what to do with them affected him a little bit When Mike Miller came in and kind of set, you know, set some stability.
Ah, he was showing up.
He was showing up in the last one for Dennis Smith.
I can't say I just hope that he's in the right headspace.
I really just hope he's in the right headspace just because, no, I'm sure there were some things.
That chick is confidence last year with personal personal stuff on E.
Guess You know, the garden the like.
I've heard it before.
The Garden is exactly the easiest place for a player to play, especially like a young guy. Rookie.
Uh, you guys, you guys said it.
Remember the first game of the season last year and people were chanting, We want Frank, You want Frank? And he was on the bench and he was on the floor.
It was like, you know, endless G is the place that you know, you give them a reason to cheer for you give them reason to, like, want you and it's it's gonna be a big confidence boost.
But at the same time you do.
You don't live up to your standards.
People will turn on you.
Um, it's a high pressure liquid to z o.
I got I gotta ask you guys something, by the way, that do you think that Frank will be ableto break the Charlie workers like, Do you honestly think that Frank will be able to break the Charlie workers like believe you the first repeat Thio have have an extension given to him or mo.
You could take that one first.
Like I just throw it on to me.
I was, But I do the same to you.
I think first, that first month is gonna be critical.
I think, um, uh huh.
I think it is highly dependent on Tibbs giving Frank the minutes that he needs to succeed.
And it's It's for me.
I don't It's not looking that way because we're hearing more and more about Dennis Smith Jr in his game.
And Tibbs is quoting Dennis a lot and just saying that he's getting more and more aggressive every game.
He's getting better.
He's getting more confident.
We're hearing a lot more about Dennis Frank from the coaching staff.
So as Faras Frank extension goes a little worrisome when you're talking about the other point guard on the team.
Um, and we still have Austin Rivers who we didn't really mention, who might actually starting.
Not overall for Peyton.
And you know, we have four more beautiful.
Yeah, yeah, he has a bit of a combo guard.
Um, so it's it's dependent.
I depending, you know, he might come off the bench.
Hey, was a bench role player for the Rockets, so he might, you know, have that same kind of roll on the Knicks.
Um, but at the minimum three and it's gonna Peyton again.
We saw we saw how that worked out last season.
Uh, Frank just wasn't getting his minutes.
So I think that first month is gonna be extremely crucial.
We're gonna We're gonna have to hope to see a lot of frank minutes where he's playing.
Two way, Not just not.
We know he's excellent defensively, but he needs to knock down his shots.
And if he's not doing it from the start, I don't think gonna get that extension.
Honestly, um, I guess maybe I'm a little more kind of optimistic just because I think it was reported that Leon was Frank's agent for for, like, a minute until, like, Frank switched agents.
So I feel like he's familiar with the kid.
If he's like, you know, believe them enough to like signing the c.
I think maybe he has some hope, obviously, but we don't know.
I mean, wrote Leon hasn't spoken in months, which I mean, I don't mind, but it's tough to get a gauge of what he's thinking.
But, I mean, I think Tibbs, honestly, it's the season progresses.
You know, it's gonna be kind of an odd season, obviously, 72 games, you know, fresh off of like I'm nine months off, I think tips probably like we'll see Frank play defense and just give them a many minutes as you can, because I think that's what it's gonna come down to.
You know what I mean? Because we're looking at all the other guards.
Nobody can really guard like Frank can at his best, maybe Peyton.
But a lot of times he plays kind of defense like an airhead.
Your main frank more so is just like, you know, I just keep going back to Luol Deng, obviously different positions, but like if they if if the Oregon sees Frank as a wing, you know, then maybe tips will play him like 42 minutes a game and then he'll need like a spinal replacement.
But at least you get minutes.
Maybe extension e.
That's actually that actually would lead to, like another interesting question.
Like, who do you guys think? Like not not including the rookies.
Just because we don't really know how they would play and the team and this team system yet.
But who do you think? What kind of benefit? From, like a position change.
Like if he switched track from, like, a one, like a two.
Or if you made a G like a like a shooting guard, Like, who do you guys think would benefit the most from that kind of thing? Interesting question.
You wanna go first? I got it.
You throw me the value.
Um, that's interesting.
Um, I mean, I'll put it right out there right now.
I hope it's not Obi.
I hope they don't try to make him play the three, you know, because that would be very ugly.
Yeah, it will be so weird.
It's like, you know, we've seen in for four years now.
Are young kids don't develop properly because they're not put in a position to succeed.
So you put all be at the three.
You're just kind of screwing him from the start.
Um, so I just hope it's not him, but I mean, as far as the other player is making a switch, I don't know if it counts.
If we do keep him, he just becomes, like, our sixth man off the bench and he'll play like, more center, You know what I mean? So then if they wanna play Obi at the floor, they could play them together.
Kind of as, like, you know, a potent offensive duo and bring Randall off the bench, you know? But, I mean, I don't know.
I think that's the first thing that comes to mind.
What do you think about I think for me.
And this is a point that was mentioned earlier.
I think by, um, Nacho, I think RJ Barry moving to three would do him best.
He's not gonna be pressure to shoot.
The ball is much and we have Bullock.
We have Berks guys who are bona fide shooters, Austin Rivers to out of point.
And these guys can be the shooters that RJ doesn't need to be in Arctic and focus on what he does best.
And that's driving into the basket aggressive Lee and I'm hoping this this offseason he worked on his finishing Hey was decent at it, but that's something that could be really strong at, um, if he goes in like a like a dog into the pain every time, that's that's where he could be really successful.
So my hope is RJ moving to the three quick thing about that.
I mean, I feel like I feel you guys, I actually see the vision RJ at the three eventually.
But, you know, I'm looking at his game now, Still only 20 years old.
But like last year, we saw his biggest skills just like overpowering guys to go to the rim.
You know what I mean? Maybe he didn't finish as often, and it kind of hurt that our spacing was really bad.
But I think maybe the I may be ideally, he should Plame or two this year just because, you know, we hear reports he's in great shape.
He came back probably a little more buff, too.
So maybe he can use that strength to overpower the two guards as opposed to trying to match up with threes, at least early on, you know, I guess.
I mean, I see that as far as keeping them at the to also remind him at three, but yeah, I figured that should be thrown for consideration.
What you guys think What do you think that, like, Not show? I I still think that for me, the him being at the two and three could be interchangeable just because they when? When you see the rotation and the guys will Probably the guys will probably be getting minutes of that is gonna be Pim, Beulah, Birks, maybe Rivers at the dude like we'll see.
Ah, If he could overpower the guys, it's I think maybe he should say video.
Ah, I'm still like I'm still at the belief.
Like I said, that he should be a three just because that were that would be where he developed.
But mhm was it? What did he play? The two in college like it was like him with the do had to shoot the three and Zion at the far right.
When they do mhm you.
So maybe you have to do Maybe we'll see him.
What to do? We'll see.
I think Ah, I honestly think maybe knocks at the floor like making him or before than the three.
Uh, probably doing a little better just because he might be a little more suited for that.
Especially now that he's back to working with any pain.
No, Maybe he's having a little more.
He's adding more facets to the game.
Maybe we'll see more defensive box.
Maybe we'll see, like more consistent shot.
Who knows? Yeah, cross eso As we start getting closer to the end of this episode, we've heard a lot about your thoughts and feelings about the young guys games.
Let's hear a little bit by your game, have you? Are you? Do you play a lot in general? Have you played for any team or are you a bit more casual player? I just I I Plame Or like as a casual, like if if their games in the park or if they're games that my friend set up, then I'll join them.
Uh, when I was growing up, I kind of learned to be a little more defensive.
Mhm, Which is why I if I am not the primary ball handler, uh, I'm the secondary one, Uh, or like, I'm a I'm a three and the kind of guy, right? But if I'm like, if I'm the If I play the primary ball handler, I'm all over past first.
I want to see how I can, how I can dictate the pace of the game.
No, I can find the open guys and distract.
I think that also came from Washington.
A lot of a lot of soccer when I was up, because you don't always see the guy the main score have the ball, Uh, from end to end of the field.
It's always like the guys in the middle of the midfielders who tried to control the tempo.
So I think my game was heavily influenced by watching those things.
Uh, it also the parents cause like, it depends when playing against.
Sometimes I'm like the tallest guy on the on the court I'm about.
I'm about 5 11 where we Filipinos aren't that talk about 5 11.
if I'm the dog on the court, then I gotta be like, uh, I gotta be like, an 80 or like a 80 where I can handle it.
I e could be in the middle, but I'm not the biggest guy on the on the floor.
Yeah, not the biggest guy on the floor then I can kind of be a little more in my position where I don't have toe.
No, I don't have to bump.
Buck was, uh, guys bigger than me.
Muscular me who have, like, meat slabs for arms and, like, one back one back down and my back looks like No, my ballots Black and blue.
Uh, yeah, that guy, Which is which is why I appreciate you know, I maybe maybe that's just because I have, like, a reject from guys like, uh, guys like Frank or guys like VanVleet or guys like, uh, Charlie Ward.
Who you had a, you know, read the game in the game.
Well, um no, no.
When to pass it nowhere toe whereto got the past where the no went toe enter Enter up the passing lane.
So they gotta they gotta regroup, which is we're considering, Like, how my favorite player was Allan Houston.
You think that try to replicate by game like him? But but But no, I I was more of like How do I How can I contribute best? Even if I'm not scoring 20 points a game, even if I don't have, like, the same similar sweet sweet shot. Nice.
Thankfully, my knees are a little better.
Uh, that's the e mean that zits not knock on him.
I know that just came with age, and I guess at the time, the game was a little different.
From what? From when he got drafted.
Eso yeah, I try like this, but, you know, short answer.
I try to model my game or, uh, do way past first.
And then if I have the main guy bringing the ball nice, you must have Ah, great teammate Grade.
Every time we play, I can't get a little fiery.
Like if a guy if a guy ****es me off on the court Oh, I'll probably be more like a bat, maybe More like a fat bev is the sense of being a little bit of a best.
We all been there, bro.
I guess it in your case, you're u b k g.
No, not with a trash talking e Can't trash stop and not not that I can't.
It's more of when I'm playing.
I'm super focused that I forget the talk.
Sometimes it was like my lips are really just like my lips.
Really, Just like closed.
I got, like, you know, I gotta make sure I'm watching every every possible outcome that he's probably gonna do, like the past year to get past there.
I gotta anticipate.
So maybe that just leaves less time for me toe Think of, like, trashed off.
Think of like saying your your girlfriend.
It's like coming chili.
Maybe maybe try that line next time you plan again and see how that works out.
E o e, we got you.
I feel like next time we invite you on, you have two black eyes.

Yeah, you know about that.
Thanks for having me.
Thanks for having me on the best for the spreading part.
I am hoping I could do that because, uh, there are a lot of people here that kind of relate how good a player is, the how many points they score game or the oddest, the oddest thing, like, what's the minus on the box score? That's not exactly an indication of whether he does, uh uh, no.
Are you know, sometimes like I'm guilty, I'm guilty.
Thoughts might just be a biased, but like I hate it when people based how good a player is based on how many badges they have, two k Oh my Wow, That's actually what happens i e no, no, no, no effect is like I hate that because, like, video game called Video games are a big culture are big game here and Gabe like they line up for it.
And like, how many badges does this player have on two K? Is he that good? Wow, Mother, What s O j R.
Smith election there? Because he was like Michael Jordan on two K.
They got Jared stuff just because, like, he can heat up real quick, right? Wow.
