New England Patriots Football is finally starts, and it comes back this week when the Patriots raised their six Super Bowl banner to the rafters before hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.
And today I'm going to give you a full preview of the Patriots 2019 NFL season, including a game by game and record prediction.
I'm also gonna look at four bold predictions for this Sunday's game against the Steelers as we get geared up for our New England Patriots to start taking their first steps towards Super Bowl 54 making history the year that the NFL is celebrating their own history.
All that and a little more here on d p n.
But before I really get going in today's stream, it's time for class is in session.
That is when I take this part of my day to educate some of the more unfortunate minds of the football world in today's curriculum was inspired by a Twitter user, and it could have surprised me anymore that he was a Cleveland Browns fan because for some reason, Browns fans have begun to think that because they have a quarterback who writes checks that he can't cash.
They're now somewhat relevant in the NFL.
But under no circumstance should've Browns fan be sticking his nose in Patriots business.
Here's what the good old Browns fan had to say, he said.
Quote kind of like how the Patriots have nothing but joke franchises in their division, leading them easily win the division every year.
If they were in the A F C North with the Steelers and Ravens all these years wouldn't be so easy.
End quote. And you know he's a Browns fan.
You know he's from Cleveland because that grammar was atrocious.
But first of all, I get when you've been the joke of your division since your second re our reincarnation to the NFL.
After being I was dead and turned on and cheated on when they Cleveland went off the Baltimore I get that you'd be a little bitter, so I almost let it go.
And I was just chalking it up to another angry, irrelevant Browns fan who was sick of his team being the peasants of the NFL.
But he continued arguing with one argument everybody uses when talking about the Patriots and more specifically, talking about the A F C East.
When was the last time the Dolphins, Jets and Bills were good? Now I actually kind of feel sorry for Miami Buffalo in New York because they aren't as bad as people like Rob Parker and Shannon Sharpe seemed to make us want to believe.
The problem with plain in the A F C East is you have to play the Patriots twice, and except for a couple of blips, that's almost a guarantee loss every single season.
Then you finish your season with 10 wins and you can't get to the playoffs because you know, it's impossible that the Patriots are gonna lose six or more games to even give you a chance.
But that's what it is to play in the A F C East.
So how about instead of comparing the six games per year that the Patriots play within their division and you look at the other 10 that they play out of the division, do you want to know why the Patriots always seem to find themselves in the A F C championship game? It's because they beat everybody equally.
The Patriots aren't biased about what division you play in, but I think it's important important to point out that Tom Brady has something like a 7 80 eight winning percentage against the A F C East.
And if you know the exact number, please let me know.
But against the A f.
North for a fact, Brady's winning percentage is a little different.
He sports an 806 winning percentage against the A F C North.
So Brady, actually overall performs better against the North.
Then he does against the East.
But please, buddy, don't let facts get in the way.
You just keep asking me about the East.
Maybe you should just focus on the Browns and how yet again, you're going to be dis.
Really? You're gonna be bitterly disappointed when the dog pound will fail to make it to yet another playoffs.
And with that class is out of session.
Dear Pat Stage was going on and your boy Ray and welcome to my little show here on D P.

Give me a little fall over on Twitter and Instagram at DPM Rate again.
That's at DP Andrey And with all the shameless plugs out of the way, I am ready to go.
And that means I'm ready to talk about our New England Patriots Now.
We are now five days away from the New England Patriots, kicking off their season against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I thought today was the best day to do a season preview before focusing all of my undivided attention on the upcoming Steelers game.
Now the Patriots are entering a new era for the first time since 2010.
The Patriots are entering this season without Rob Gronkowski and frankly, for the first time, really in the Brady Belichick era, they're entering this season with uncertainty at the tight end position.
But even though this team may now be Gronk Lis, it probably still the most balanced team I've ever seen Tom Brady take.
And it's probably the most balanced team I've seen since Tom Brady took the reins of the dynasty.
And that's why I'm not really concerned about anything.
And this is probably the best I've felt about a Patriots team, maybe ever since my time of watching it since, but the mid nineties.
Now there isn't a single team that's going to take this field the field this week that doesn't have a fan base with concerns and reading my comments on YouTube and the messages again on Twitter, I see a lot of similar concerns amongst Pats Nation.
Clifton Brown, a longtime DPMNE subscriber and someone who was active in my common section, left me a comment last night that I think is a good reflection of what I've seen a lot of people saying So, Clifton wrote about three areas he's the most concerned with about regarding the defendant Super Bowl champions and they are the offensive line, the amount of penalties that the Patriot air drying and can the defense live up to these high expectations we set for them.
What I'm hoping to do tonight and today Stream is that I'm able to maybe ease some of those concerns some Patri fans may have.
And then, after I talk about the team and what we can expect on the field, I will go through the Patriots schedule and try to give you my predictions for this season.
No many people are over blowing Rob Gronkowski's departure from the New England Patriots because every single year the Patriots offense is reshaped by Josh McDaniels and Josh McDaniels will base this team on what personnel they have on the team.
Okay, so the tight end situation is uncertain, but the running backs and wide receivers are the strongest they've ever been, you know, going back up until last season on.
Since Provisions 2011 Gronk was always the first option on passing place.
What you can expect this year is that the tight ends won't be is emphasizing the passing game as they have in the past, because you don't have Martellus Bennett.
You don't have rob Gronkowski.
You have Matt Lacoste, and Ryan is a holding down the Fort week one, and then you're gonna have Lance Kendricks come back week, too, and it won't be until week for that really are weak.
Excuse me that Watson comes back and stabilizes the tight ends, but by no means is the tight ends in dire straits.
It's just gonna be different this year.
It's not gonna be the same.
It like it wise when Grok was on the team.
Now, one thing people are very concerned is about the offensive line, and I get it.
Because when you watch some of the preseason games, especially with our second and third string, is there out there? Didn't look great.
But as long as the offense of line stays relatively healthy this season, I have no concerns because I have no concerns with starters.
Even with Ted caresses, Isaiah Win has proved that he can play in the NFL, that he has the ability they have the best guard tandem in the NFL.
Pro football focuses.
Recognize that everybody's recognized it and Joe Tooni and Shack Mazen Marcus Cannon is a very, very good offensive tackle.
My concern going into the season was depths, and then Bill Belichick addressed it and he strengthened the depth with, you know, aluminum Ore and Bodine and cutting him.
So I'm not concerned about the offensive line, at least not yet now.
One thing that's really important to know about this Patriots team, and I don't know why it's being questioning Clinton.
That's no disrespect to you.
But believe me when I say the New England Patriots defense is going to be light out next season, like I've always already said, this is the most balanced Patriots team in the Brady Belichick era and now usually we go into an NFL season and we're excited about what the offense is gonna do.
But I have a hard time looking at the defense and really finding a real weak spot on this defense on the defensive side of the ball.
All right, they're gonna have a great pass rush that's gonna come from defensive lineman from linebackers from strong safeties.
The page is gonna come out.
They're gonna use various, you know, unique fronts.
Sometimes they'll run a 34 Sometimes we'll run a 43 sometimes Ava 62 because the Patriots have the versatility and the personnel to be able to run those different kind of, you know, fronts so you can play with three Lymon, four linebackers and a strong safety.
You also have linebackers that can cover a running back, which opens up even more for the Patriot.
Because now you have the opportunity of playing a week zone.
A strong zone, straight man to man.
You can double team with corners.
Strong safeties could take tight ends.
There's a whole lot that can happen.
Especially you got guys like Jamie Collins on the team and he can use his athleticism.
So, believe me, guys, the Patriots defense is going to be phenomenal this year.
And when we need them to be the most phenomenal is going to start week eight.
And before I get into all of my, you know, predictions, I'm still gonna give a little bit of an overview overview on I want to talk about the Patriots.
Toughest stretch down the schedule are the stuff ISS, you know, stretch yeah, through that with the schedule because we Kate they play the Cleveland Browns week, which is really, you know, is gonna be the tee off further tough stretch.
I think the Patriots could beat the Browns, but it's gonna be a tee off of Baker.
Mayfield comes to town to take on Tom Brady.
Then the Patriots got to go to Baltimore.
They gotta face the Ravens, then they get the bye week.
Then they got to go to Philadelphia, play the Eagles.
They got a host, the Cowboys.
They got to go to Houston and play the Texans, and then they gotta face the Chiefs.
That's a tough stretch for the Patriots.
And if the Patriots want a secure home field advantage, they need to go for into down that stretch.
Well, they're still there.
Eight tough games for six tough games that they're gonna have to play.
But I don't think that it's undoable for the Patriots ago.
Foreign, too, and the Patriots are easily gonna win the A F C East.
We know that they're gonna easily when they have sees this year, but it's those weeks 8 to 14 that will determine home field advantage going into the playoffs.
And one thing that the Patriots need to do to make sure that they are ready to have home field advantage.
They need to become more disciplined.
This is something I thought I would never talk about on a Bill Belichick coach team.
But even before the preseason, we're talking about going into the last down the stretch and into the playoffs.
It looked like they were taking a little bit of undisclosed penalties during the preseason.
They took a lot of penalties.
Now, granted, it was a lot of backups.
It wasn't a lot of their starters, but some of them were.
It wasn't Michael Bennett, which everybody thought was gonna be the main culprit, but they need to really tighten that up if they're gonna be successful this year.
And when we look at the final record before I go into my prediction, a lot of Patriot fans are believing that the Patriots could go 16 to know this season.
Now, that's probably out of reach 16.
It was a very tough scored a you know, a very tough record I have.
I think what two teams have had undefeated seasons, but I think it's well and reach that.
The Patriots win the A of seeing home field advantage.
You know you have a Tom Brady led offense combined with basically a Pro Bowl defense, it's gonna be very difficult to beat.
And now that I've given a brief overview of the team, I want to spend the next few minutes actually looking at the Patriots schedule this season and going through a game by game and giving you my win loss prediction for the 2019 season.
So, week one, the Patriots are obviously hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.
I've already been predicted it three times this week, so you know that I believe the Patriots will walk away with the victory and start this season.
Wanna know what people might be wanting what I think about week to when they travel down to Miami and take on the Miami Dolphins? Because Miami has always been almost like a Bermuda triangle for the New England Patriots.
You never know what you're gonna get when you go down to Miami, you get things with the Miami miracle.
You have the debacle.
The Monday night game A couple years ago, when Gronkowski was suspended, it's almost as if Miami Force Kronk to make that stupid hit in Buffalo to be suspended.
We wouldn't be there for the Miami game.
But even with all of that, even with Bill Belichick, who doesn't have a great record facing his former coaches for the first time.
This Miami team does not look good at all, and I think the magic is all gone from Fitz.
I don't expect any more fits magic this season.
I got the Patriots winnings going to a No to start the season before hosting the New York Jets.
The return of Adam Gates, The guy who is who is almost echoing the Rex Ryan mantra of being the New York Jets coach going after the New England Patriots are gonna knock the Patriots off her throne.
What all that's gonna happen is after Week three, the page it's gonna be three, you know? And then they're gonna travel to Buffalo to a place that Tom Brady doesn't lose.
And Week four, it's gonna be no different.
The Patriots are going to start the season four in Oh, and they're gonna have Patriot fans on Cloud nine and then they got too easy games after that.
They're going to go to Washington and they're gonna stomp the Redskins and go up.
Be five, you know.
Then they're gonna host Eli Manning and the New York Giants and will not be a repeat of the preseason game.
And the Patriots will go into their Monday Night Football game against the Jets and weeks, 76 you know, and we're finally going to see the first big upset of the season.
As I am predicting, there's always one A F C Team East team that beats the patrons every year.
For some reason, Monday nights haven't been the greatest for the New England Patriots, and I got the New York Jets taking the wind and the Patriots dropping to six and one.
And then we, Kate, the Patriots are gonna be hosting the Cleveland Browns.
Baker Mayfield versus Tom Brady.
The new verse, the old, the prodigy in the master.
The master is going to teach the young grasshopper what it's like to play football when the Patriots improved to seven and one before going back to Sunday Night Football in Baltimore, a place that's almost like Miami for the Patriots.
One of the coaches, John Harbaugh, that know how to be the Bill ballot check team.
The only blowout I've seen between the Ravens and the Patriots is when the Ravens blow with the Patriots.
Otherwise It's a very close game.
Now I get there is no Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed.
It's very different.
Ravens team and the teams from the past.
No Ray Rice to run stupid yards on the Patriots.
But somehow young Lamar Jackson figures out how to get it done.
That Ravens defense figures how to get it done at the Patriots going into their bye on a loss at seven and two.
And then they got to travel to Philadelphia after their bye week 10 and got to face the Eagles Week 11.
We all know what happens when the Patriots come off of by now.
It's not gonna be full revenge against the Eagles, because it's not a Super Bowl, and I hate when teams think that they're getting revenge on the Patriots in the regular season.
The regular season means nothing.
All it means is the pages are gonna win and go up eight and two on the season, and then they're gonna host the Cowboys Week 13.
How about them Cowboys when the Cowboys, Maybe they'll be a Zico. Elliot.
Why lists? Maybe they won't be.
Maybe he'll be back.
I heard they're close to a deal.
Doc Prescott will be at his best.
All Jason Witten will be here.
Patrons are gonna win, go nine and two, and then I'm calling the Upset.
Sunday Night Football, another prime time loss for the Patriotsthree primetime losses.
I am predicting for the paths when they lose to the Houston Texans, because Houston is finally gonna get the monkey off their back.
They're not able to beat the Patriots.
Do you remember back to the, I think was a Sunday night game when they had that huge lead on the Patriots the very last time I ever turned a Patriots game off? Because I missed one of the best comebacks and Tom Brady's career, obviously 28 to 3, was the better one.
But I think they're finally gonna get the revenge before the Patriots have to face Patrick Mahomes in New England.
And what the Chiefs game is going to do is it's going to set up the Patriots to run the table.
After the Patriots beat the Chiefs again and Patrick Home falls the Owen three against Tom Brady.
The Patriots improved a 10 and three on this season.
Then they're going to Cincinnati and make easy work of the Bangles and goal 11 and three and the week 16 and 17 you're hosting the Bills, and then you're hosting the Dolphins.
That's 12 and 13 and 13 and 13 for the Patriots.
And that's how I'm pretty from this season.
And I don't think that 13 and 13 record is a stretch by any means.
But I also wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots record was even something like 14 and two because losing to the Jets, maybe a bit of a stretch.
And if the Patriots have a clean sweep out of the A F C East, it's not out of the realm of possibility for the Patriots before 10 and two.
But before we can even focus on final records, the Patriots need to face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
And I've already mentioned three times this week that I think the Patriots will beat the Steelers.
The bigger question is, how will it happen? And while I was thinking about this, I read a very interesting article from Sam Teats of clutch points.
It's four bold predictions for week one match up, So by now you're used to how this works, okay, we'll go through the article together, and I will give my thoughts on what Teats has to say.
Here was his first prediction.
It was two Patriots running back to the total 100 yards.
New England has a treasure trove of running backs to start the team as to start the team, ask Tony Michelle.
The Patriots drafted Michelle with the 31st overall pick in last year's draft.
Michelle had four games with more than 100 rushing yards last season.
He also crossed the 100 yard mark and Week five, when he ran for 98 yards and caught a pass for another 12.
James White has also have been a significant contributor for the Patriots.
Last season, White had three games last season total 100 yards, largely relying on his role in the receiving game.
He's a Swiss Army knife that is very underrated in the grand scheme of the game and on top of Michelle and White.
New England drafted Alabama's Damian Harrison in the third round of the draft, and it's hard to tell how much time Harris will.
I see is a rookie, but Bill Belichick must have a plan for the young runner.
The Patriots have so many options that it's impossible to cover everyone to running backs with 100 yards.
Each would be a ridiculous achievement.
But if any team can do it, it would be the Patriots end quote.
It's hard to imagine the Patriots having to, you know, to running backs out 100 yard, especially Russian at 100 yards.
But you know what, though, combining passes and rushes.
I don't see why it couldn't happen, you know.
And the Patriots used the running backs very specifically last season, and you know Josh McDaniels would feature different running backs at different times.
You know, there'd be a Rex Burkhead quarter.
There'd be a Sony Michelle quarter, and they may not have to use that rotation as much this year and scheme as much with running backs because the wide receiver depth it's so deep.
And perhaps Josh McDaniels will be more inclined to use the best available and sprinkle in the others.
And guys, I I don't care what anybody says.
Sony, Michelle and James White are the best on the Patriots.
I won't even entertain a different argument.
Besides that, like the article says, Sony, Michelle ran for 100 yards four times last year, James White three times had passed in Russia all purpose yards for over 100 yards.
It will definitely be a tough feet for the, you know, for two running backs to go over 100 yards.
But it's not undoable, especially on the Patriots.
So that was his first prediction.
Let's take a look at what a second bold prediction was, and it was Roth's Burger held below 250 yards.
Ben Roethlisberger led the NFL in passing last CX passing yards per game and finished the year with 5129 total passing yards.
He was held to below 250 yards just one time, and that was weak 15 against the Patriots.
The Patriots only had the 22nd best past defense in the league last season, yet they matched up well against the Steelers.
Now that Antonio Brown is no longer in Pittsburgh, things will seem more slanted in New England's favor.
Juju Smith Schuster is the Lone Star receiver left left for the Patriots to stop and first team All Pro cornerback Stefan Gilmore should be up to the challenge.
If Roethlisberger wants to excel against the Patriots, he'll have to rely on heavily on younger, unproven wide receivers.
Here's the fact past nation the Patriots, Bill Belichick, Maurin particular know howto play against Ben Roth. Bigger.
Belen Shack has been beating the Steelers offense with subpar personnel for years, and now he has an outstanding defense.
What do the Steelers think they'll be able to accomplish offensively? Because the days of Antonio Brown and lay beyond Bel are over, and I don't care what Steelers fans say.
That means the days of Ross's burger throwing for 5000 yards, at least for this season ain't happening.
The only real threat that the Steelers have on offense is Judas.
Schuster and look, I've always liked you.
Do you guys know that? But it's nothing Gilmore can handle.
The Patriots pass rush is crazy, improved, and it's gonna wreck havoc on the Steelers, and I think the safe is better.
That game is to bed the Ross Burger duster under 250 yards, so those were his 1st 2 predictions.
They're very Patriots friendly, so obviously I was very agreeable with him.
This next bold prediction is a Steelers friendly one.
So why don't I read it you and then I'll give you my feedback, says Brady.
Sacks six times.
The Steelers have the best pass rush in the NFL over the past two season.
Pittsburgh tied Kansas City for the most sacks in the league last season with 52 back in 2017 the Steelers beat out the Jacksonville Jaguars for the Stack or the sack crown with 56.
Pittsburgh's pass rushers have been on a tear for the last two seasons, and they're only getting better. T.
Watt is entering his third season and looking like to take another step in his development, Kamman Hewitt is now clearly in his prime.
But Dupri is entering a contract year and he will be motivated to up his production.
And even nose tackle Javon Hargrave had a career year in 2018.
The Patriots always cobbled together a good offensive line to protect Tom Brady, and I think this Steelers have enough firepower to blast through and get Brady with regularity through it, said. Though.
Let's head through um, so I saw badly want to disagree with Sam teats.
But I mean, you have to admit, and I think we kind of know what I think.
Pittsburgh will get pressure on Tom Brady because they're so good at it.
But I think six is a little bit of a stretch.
You know, people are really focusing on the poor offensive line depth and not focusing on the fact that the Patriots cobbling together one of the best offensive line starters in the league.
I guess my only concern going into this game in particular would be Ted caressed matching up against Yvonne Hargrave because the Steelers linebackers are too talented for a defensive lineman to be double teaming or an offensive lineman to be double team in a defensive lineman.
Which is gonna put some pressure and some accountability on the Patriots, running backs and full backs to get up and make blocks.
And if the Patriots tight ends want to make an impact, improved everybody that they need to be on the field, they need to do in the blocking game, and this is where they need to do it now.
Scheming and coaching can easily counter pass rush Patriots use running backs in and, you know, And if they use the balance, the balance, a run and passed, then the Steelers will have to be honest about things.
If Tom Brady kin, if they want to send the House and Tommy and get the ball.
Oh, quick, like a James White or Julian Edelman up the middle of the field, they could wreck havoc.
The moral of the story is, though, is the offensive line that tight ends and the running backs will need to block and receivers will need to make contact coming off the line.
And when we look at his fourth and final prediction, it was, Ah, it was Week five.
I may call this an overreaction.
Ah, but given the state of the Patriots tight end situation going into Week one, ah, he may be absolutely correct in his assessment.
Ah, here's what teats final bold prediction is.
He says zero catches for the Patriots tight ends.
The big story this off season for the Patriots was Rob Gronkowski is retirement.
The four time first team All Pro was limited with injuries last season, but he was still a key part to the offense.
Gronkowski made 47 receptions for 682 yards and three touchdowns last season.
In years past, Gronkowski tortured the Steelers with big plays in his limited state.
He was held to two receptions and 21 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, and it's no coincidence that the Patriots lost the game.
New England did sign Ben Benjamin Watson in the off season, but he was suspended for the 1st 4 games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
The 14 year veteran is also in the concussion protocol after taking a nasty hit in the preseason.
The team also added Lance Kendricks, but he is suspended from one game due to the league's substance abuse policy as well.
That leaves the Patriots with Ryan is oh, who has never caught an NFL pass in Matt Lacoste, who is dealing with a high ankle spring.
Expect the running backs to absorb targets usually given to that are usually given to the tight ends.
Now, Okay, look, we have to admit the tight ends situation is thin going in the weak one, right? Obviously, Lance Kendricks is back next week.
Ben Watson back week five, but they're both suspended right now, And that just leaves Mt.
Lacoste, who's injured.
Oh, but I think that zero catches.
I think that zero catches could be for different reason than teach reasoning.
Okay, the Steelers pass rush is so dominant the Patriots will need to use the tight ends for blocking, and they're gonna have to depend more on the running backs.
James White and I've said this many times.
The Patriots aren't game planning around the tight ends until maybe Ben watching returns and and the tight has become a little bit more Prelevic in the gay in the in the passing game, you know if the stats end up Gordon.
100 yards Edelman, 75 yards White, 60 yards, Michelle 100 yards rushing, Thomas 80 yards and Brady finished with 353 115 yards of the Patriots winds.
Do we really care if a tight end catches the ball or not? Look, I get that.
Pittsburgh Steeler fans are rolling their eyes at the premise under 215 passing yards, and Patriot fans can't fathom Brady being sacked six times and the tight ends not recording a single pass.
But At the end of the day, the bold predictions don't really matter whatsoever.
What really matters is what happens on the field Sunday night.
And one thing the Pats nation knows the Patriots are opening up a CZ big favorites.
And there is no doubt in anybody's mind that the Patriots will be walking away with the W.
The only issue we have now is waiting the five days until the game starts and the Patriots can finally kick off the 2019 regular season.
