I'm Grant Flood from flusher Sport Zone and tonight and nothing to broadcast.
You know, we're gonna dio and I'm gonna be doing this a lot more frequently, but we're going to recap some news that happened earlier today.
Of course you would know all the stuff occurred if you follow me on instagram A flood of sport zone and the twitter at flood stirs that is flood stir with an S And you would know pretty much all these topics occurred today.
Obviously if you follow me on the social media's But if you don't, that's okay because I'll be talking about pretty much the major news that happen anyway.
So NFL kicker Steven Hauschka retires after 13 year career.
The Lakers bring back point guard Quinn Cook and the Texas Rangers find their new general manager.
And there was some other hockey news that happened today.
But of course I'm waiting until Wednesday on the power skate show where I'll dig into that stuff.
Well, anyway, let's begin with Steven Hauschka retiring after a 13 year career, I did not realize that he has played on literally every.
I simply didn't you please.
So he was drafted by the Ravens in 2000, and I actually went undrafted.
Then the Ravens picked him up in 2000 and eight, and then he played with the Ravens again.
Then he went with the Broncos in 2010, played with the Seahawks from 2011 2016.
That that's why he is mainly remembered for as being a C hockey is, honestly probably the best Seahawks kicker of all times.
So there you go.
He's mainly remembered there, and he was very good.
Surprisingly, he never made a Pro Bowl, Which is kind of confusing, really, because we take a look at his 2014 stats.
58 yard long field goal.
That was his career high, and not to mention he went 31 from 37.
And then again the private 2013.
He went 33 for 35.
I mean, going three for three from 50 plus yards out.
It's like again the A F C cause you know, the A C.
They've had Stephen Gostkowski and a military Justin Tucker, now Josh Lambo and Harrison Buckner, right? Like I get the A F.
C has always had good kickers like what's up with the NFC like I've been.
This guy never made a Pro Bowl.
I don't get that.
You should have played at least one or two when he was with the Seahawks, because in my personal opinion, it doesn't make sense that he didn't make a problem because you totally got snubbed of one.
According to these stats.
And then okay, after 2016, he was.
He was decent still, you know.
He went 33 for 37 but they decided to cut ties with them.
Then he heads over to the Bills.
Plays from the Bills from 2017 to 2019.
Does decent again.
It doesn't really put a Pro Bowl numbers, but he gets the job done.
In 2017, he went 29 for 33 then 2018 2019.
He went 22 for 28.
Now I know what you're thinking.
Well, didn't Hauschka play with the Jaguars back in Week five? He did.
And guess what? That was probably his worst game ever as a pro because, of course, this is when Lambeau suffered his first injury in the Jaguars were trying out.
It's either him or Geron, Brown's like.
All right, well, sign, hash guy.
I mean, obviously, just reading off some of the stats here.
And I know Hash A is one of the more accurate kickers, especially in the 2000 tens.
One game he goes is unbelievable.
He misses two kicks, one from inside the 29 yard line.
He shanked that one left, and then he missed another one from I think it was, like 43 yards out, and I think that one sailed right.
Was horrible Jaguars condom after one game.
And, yeah, they stuck with Jerome Brown to Lambeau came back and the Lambo got heard.
Now Lambros out for the rest of the year and now jackets pretty much flip flopping between Chase McLaughlin and all Drug Rosa's.
But e don't know what happened to this guy.
He was very good with the Seahawks again.
He never really had a shot with Baltimore in Denver.
He was very good with Seattle.
He was above average with the Bills.
But even the Bills, I think, could see a decline.
As obviously, they drafted a bass in the fifth round, the second kicker selected.
And he's honest, even one of the better kickers this year. Baths.
I'm like what Tyler Bass has done so far for Buffalo.
So, honestly, that seems like a very smart pick it now that Steven Hauschka's retired literally seven weeks after that abysmal performance of it is the Bills definitely made the right move by drafting the young 22 year old kicker.
And you guess what it's worked.
Oh, for them so far.
So that was nice to see.
But, yeah, best of luck to Stephen House gun his retirement again.
The fact that in either 2013 or 2014 the fact you didn't make a Pro Bowl, it was kind of skeptical, in my opinion.
But I'm trying to think of NFC kickers who were, like, really good, like when he was with the socks.
The only ones that come to mind is Matt Bryant.
Greg Zuerlein on.
I had another one on the tip of my tongue.
I don't know why I'm blanking on his name right now, but you know, like I'm thinking other dudes like Dustin Hopkins, but I don't think he's ever made program.
Geno was good, but, you know, is he really ever a Pro Bowl kicker? I mean, it's really tough to say Steven Hauschka Will is very good.
And again, it's just kind of surprising.
He never made toe one Pro Bowl.
And again, if he didn't make it in the NFC, certainly wasn't gonna be any anywhere close to making in the A f c.
Of course, with, you know, guys like military Tucker Gostkowski that was Just know what is going to think.
Cool air, Mark See pigs rockin Irwin for tuning in Appreciate guys, but yeah, yeah, yeah Steven Hauschka, one of the better kickers again Another 2000 tens Just You want his ring too, But ultimately not the way I think he wanted Thio go out.
Pro football reference gives Gostkowski the procedures award of ranking him the 59th kicker of all time.
So there you go.
They're going to give him ah, Hall of Fame honor a 15.
43 which for a kicker, that's pretty average.
That means you have, like an above average career is a kicker according to pro football reference, which is ah, 100% true we again.
He never made a probably ship.
I made one or two, but he didn't.
And Matt Prater was the other kicker I was thinking of from the NFC.
Who's still in the lines, actually, but yeah.
So pro football reference drinks in the 59th.
Best kicker all time.
I thought it would have been a little bit higher.
I thought it would have been somewhere in, like, the forties or thirties.
I'm not gonna lie, but And right from the 59th, listen, I'm not gonna complain.
That's gonna be streaming itself reacting Thio NFL Pro Football Reference Hall of Fame honors.
I've been waiting to do that stream for the next couple of months.
I'll definitely have to do that one soon, but yeah, right now.
Human Africa retired.
He is 35 years young and, yeah, I can't wait to see what he does.
Best luck on his career.
All right, now we'll move on to the Lakers Resync point guard Quinn Cook.
And I guess I can also talk about the Anthony Davis signing real quick.
Boy, that was huge.
They brought him back in a five year 195 million max contract yesterday, and they also resigned LeBron James to a two year, $85 million deal two days ago.
So Lakers are making moves, and it look like at the moment that right now my favorites to repeat as champion Sink smiling Sally for tuning in.
Let's take a look at Quinn Cook last year course.
He was kind of flopping around between the Mavericks and the Pelicans to begin his career.
Didn't really get anything going there.
And then he went to the Warriors for two years, and then he was dealt to the Lakers during the off season, and then off he went really 44 games, Um, averaging a 2.
1 field goal, are averaging a 4.
4 to 5 field goal percentage, along with a 365% 3 point percentage.
That was his, uh, career low, actually.
Really? Yeah, I was just career low.
I thought that was It wasn't that far off his career high, but it was, unfortunately, his career low there okay to point percentage.
His career average of 505 last year was 465 and then, overall, he's used to have a decent averaging, 1.
1 assists per game has averaged no blocks.
That's not good and then 0.
3 assists on the 5.
His career averages 6.
So again, he's not really a fantastic player or anything.
You will pretty much be riding the bench, Uh, for I'd say, probably have the game.
He's only a play that's ruffling again, like Max, like 10 minutes of you know, gameplay.
Unless you know an injury happens.
Uh, he's a good role player, that's for sure.
But again, is nothing really crazy to write home about? They actually released him a couple weeks ago, but they just brought back today.
The money contract in the years have not been announced yet, but I would assume it's probably like a one year like $3.
6 million deal or something.
That's probably what I would imagine the contract is again.
That's not announced.
We just know the Lakers resign him, at least at the moment.
But yeah, I mean, I just think it's it's not gonna be a lot and again, he's gonna pretty much free averaging.
I'd say like 8 to 9 minutes a game, if not even less than that.
Congrats on the new contract.
Hope you're making quite a bit of money, but, yeah, I just simply don't think he's going to thio much.
I felt like he was at his.
I felt like he was at his best when he was with the Warriors, and then he went over the Lakers this year and was he now a two time champ? I believe so, Yeah, good for him.
He's, you know, he's the incredible thing is he's only 27 again.
He was the 31st ranked player recruit in the 2011 draft, of course, did make his debut until 2017 with the Mavericks.
And then, Yeah, he's won two titles in four years, and it's looking like threes on the way.
Because again, thinkers resigned LeBron and Anthony Davis over the past two days, the Lakers already loaded up again.
They lost Rajon Rondo.
But let's please why, like 36 not a huge loss there.
He's a good presence, but not a huge loss there.
And then again, the Lakers, it's still got a pretty decent team.
That's not nothing really changed from last year's squad, so I'm expecting Los Angeles to do big things again.
Finally, the Texas Rangers, if either new general manager, that's right, 41 year old Christopher Ryan Young.
That's right. Ryan Young.
Um, former MLB pitcher was actually Ah, pretty good picture.
Made an All Star game in 2007 with the Padres, was a bullpen arm for the Royals in their 2015 World Siri's championship.
And overall, it was really It was a pretty good I mean, you know, coming out of a rookie in 2004 with the Rangers, the team that drafted him, he only allowed 36 hits in 36 innings.
I mean, for rookie, that's a terrible I mean 27 strikeouts.
Yeah, sure, that's not great.
But then he was really dominant around the 05 to 7 season as again this when he was with the Rangers, 2537 strikeouts, 2664 strikeouts and then in 2767 strikeouts.
So, yeah, he was averaging about roughly 170 innings or so per season, so he was actually a very good picture for a decent amount of time there.
And I think that's great that he's coming back and helping out the team that wants trapped because again, the Rangers, that they need a shake up and management you certainly wasn't that great.
The Rangers general manager for amount of why I'm blanking on his name.
But he was not that great.
It looked like he was too focused on moving to a different stadium as well.
Although the stadium they currently have is, I believe, under 20 years old.
So there you go anyway.
Thanks, said Jpp before tune again.
So I was kind of, you know, worthless on his part to, you know, be asking for a a new stadium when again the same.
Other news about Chris Young he was the 2014 American League comeback player of the area is also the He was the monthly picture of the month once back in June of 2006, when he was with the Padres.
We have a sister, first year with the Padres and that, um you know, he was pretty good.
He had a base out.
He was seventh in the league there with the 2.
5 average, this out run save 23.76.
That was eight best in the league.
And then he was.
He was very good.
He's currently 41 years old and you know what? To see what he does.
I think I think he's gonna do good stuff with this organization.
I really do think the Rangers are really picturing away from competing for a playoff spot because I feel like they're minor league system is, you know, above average there and then, not to mention, you still have guys like Joey Gallo, who can, you know, hit rakes in the right field, right? So even left, for that matter, even down center Joey Gallo is just a monster.
So yeah, I would I would say that the This was a smart move.
Let's see what the Rangers do.
Maybe they bring back Corey Kluber.
I doubt it, but the Rangers definitely not focus on pitching something that kinda haven't done this off season so far, some of it disappointing that I don't really remember if they target pictures during the draft or not, but so okay, so they at Chris Young and again, I think he will be pretty decent overall.
So, yeah, we'll see what the Rangers do there. Oh, yeah.
Not to mention he was also pretty aggressive picture.
He, uh he got into many fights.
I've I've heard when I was reading up about him, he's got into multiple fights, is well, so e was about to say, at least he's the general manager because if he was the actual manager, I was about to say, Expect a lot of fights with the umpire.
But now he dodged a bullet there, and he's only the general manager, so we can't really get that upset or whatever.
Thanks J P P B Y, for the foam finger.
And I hope everyone enjoyed the broadcast.
I know you're thinking, Grant, Where's the play by play stuff? My guy.
