Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It looks like we're starting now.
Welcome to the new steps of the sports talk Central.
My name is a deep moved here I am with the normal coast Hunter holidays, and we're gonna be talking about NFL.
We're gonna be talking from college foot basketball, actually.
Then we're gonna talk about some baseball baseball news as well.
So let's just start with the big thing we're talking about just the Ravens Steelers.
Let me Let me just I know.
And I know a lot of Steelers trains are upset.
Like when When people say they're the worst 11 and no team like they get upset about that, I'll have my take on after what you're gonna say.
You know, what I was going to say is I think saying that they're the worst is a bit extreme.
Yeah, so I think that, but I think it is fair to say that they are the probably the most questionable.
Yeah, they're they're like, you know what I mean, Right? Like you know what I mean, right? You could like you still have questions about this team.
Of course, you have to respect the fact that your lover? No.
Because, like, to me, like I think I know you.
I think you agree with this.
If we're asking the same questions in week 12 that we're asking in week four or week five, then that is an issue.
Yeah, And when you look at the Steelers, um, and we can talk about let's just first talk about the game first, and then I'll talk about some, like, issue.
Think there's some There's some issues I have about the Steelers that really go before this game.
But so to me, I thought that if you're a Steelers friend, you you won the game.
You're 11 or no, you won the A F C North.
You're going to be either the one or two seed in the NFC playoff picture. You saw the Ravens.
I think those are the only positives you could take from this game.
Honestly, it's basically yeah, you throw it in the dumpster.
If you saw what Mike Tomlin had to say after the game, you know, people like the harp on Mike Tomlin.
But, you know, he wasn't happy.
It unquestionably say, Do you see what his reaction? What would you.
Do you all like to drop passes to us sucking? I mean, that's honestly one of the greatest responses I've heard him say called it the JV performance in all three phases.
I mean, I'm sure he was probably given them a lot in the locker room.
And juju even said it himself after the game.
They came in with a JV squad and we played down to them.
He flat out admitted to it.
He was pretty ****ed off, too.
And, yeah, I mean, as soon as you are lucky to win that game, I mean, they had, of course, that big player at the end of the second half, you know, with Vince Williams kind of sitting on Gus Edwards there, it puts second half accident on the Why first half? Yeah.
I mean, I understand what a lot of people are upset about that I would be upset about that as well.
You know, it's up to the refs to call it, and he was like, a yard away, like I understand if he's like seven yards away.
But he was a yard away, so I mean, that's what I don't I mean granted.
But then again there.
Two issues. They're bad clock management.
And then they had their the roughing the passer penalty, which eso I find it.
And then also that last play that last throw to Luke Wilson.
He almost got it like he had the ball for.
That was just a nice play by hey, just yeah, I feel like So for me, it was more so If I'm willing to let that situation go, Uh, and then you mentioned, like playing down the competition, it's well, it's kind of referring to earlier.
Like, if you look at the Steelers eso this is If this was the first time they played down to their competition, I would be worried.
But the fact that yeah, the fact is that in week two remember they played a Denver Bronco scene with Jeff Driskel? That's right, Yeah, back on.
And then we almost lost.
They almost lost that game like I don't know.
I forgot what the final scores, but they almost lost that game.
Then you play the Ravens, you create four turnovers, but you only win by four.
That's like, so that's good and bad.
Then you play the Cowboys.
You have you're facing Garrett, Gilbert and Garrett Gilbert almost beat you.
There's there's a few problems.
There's two big things with this team.
There's that's just the reality.
They're too worries that the offensive coordinator and themselves, that's that's really the two big issues with the team.
The offensive coordinator will stand in the way of bad play calling, but I mean, they had 10 drops against the Ravens.
On Ben, you know themselves and you're playing down the bad competition, not showing up for like, a half, not showing up for a whole game.
Squeaking out winds.
That ain't gonna work against Kansas City.
Yeah, that could work against a lot of the other teams in the conference.
You've been in Tennessee.
You'd be in Baltimore.
You crushed Cleveland.
You're gonna play Indianapolis Pretty soon.
You're gonna play another.
Really? Probably the 3rd, 3rd, 4th best team in the conference in the Bills.
You know you're gonna play everyone except the chiefs, but it's just like, you know that will work, I think.
Well, I shouldn't say that don't work.
I mean, you can squeak by those kind of teams, but I won't work against the Chiefs and you know we'll get to the Chiefs when if they play them.
But you know, that's just the big thing.
If they show up on their A game, I have nobody beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
Um, they'll just have toe score 35 40 points to do with which I don't know how come from.
I am well, also, unfortunately, because of the but to pre injury.
It's gonna make it that much harder.
That s so I want to bring this point up, though.
There's this tweet from this guy from Baltimore.
Forgot which media he's from, he said.
And this is and this is telling.
Let's not forget Big Ben have to throw it 51 times to put up a whopping 13 points against the Ravens defense without three poll.
Three Pro Bowlers that lead to pass Rush that also lost Jimmy Smith and played with the hobbled Peters and Elliott.
Yeah, I mean, David is the big thing with their offense right now, is they don't trust the running game, and how could you with the number they put up, it was nice that Benny Snell finally woke up at the end of the game.
He won them the game.
You know him? Trucking.
Marcus Peters was music to my ears.
You know, I've never been a fan of computers.
I know you're a big ravings and I do not like them.
I didn't like him on the Rams, to be honest with you, Uh, e another, but that was fun.
But, you know, it's just, you know, 3rd and 1/4 and one they're passing.
It's like, just won the ball.
It's really Oh, and by and by the way, the only two defensive tackles that the Ravens are suited up.
And by the way, do you know how much how many guys they figured up in total? I don't even remember. 30.
Say it's not something I was going to get.
Yeah, so they had to sew the only two defensive they only suited up to defensive tackles.
Everyone else was like practice squad.
So, like if you had a chance, Thio bring back your run game, That was this was a game to do it.
I mean, for me, like from a Ravens fan, like from as a fan I was like, You know what I have? No.
Like I told you this, I haven't I haven't really No emotional investment is like I know we're going.
I figured we're gonna lose.
So, like, if you could make it, If you can make it a game, I'll be fine with it.
And the fact that we only lost by 55 and the only reason it was five by five was because of bad clock management.
It's that, like, that could have been in 1917 game that could be in 21 19.
Yeah, I will say, though I'm watching RG three play honestly kind of e.
I will say this.
It kind of set football back about 20 years.
He is really bad, man, that guy can't throw a ball, He can't throw a pass.
And I think that, like, I think that he's gonna go down as one of the saddest what if stories? Because going coming into the league, he was like he's Lamar Jackson before Lamar Jackson.
He was like the next Michael Vick.
And then, ironically, the Ravens were the reason why blew out his knee.
That's right, Yeah.
And then, um but no like, And then it just went downhill.
And apparently, um, apparently his dad went to Shanahan and said, We want him to be Peyton Manning or something like that And and then and then at that point, it was like injuries.
And now he's on his third team.
He's a backup quarterback, I mean, but I mean and I kind of get to the Ravens point a quarterback point here, but like, it's just really sad to see that he's only 30 years old, but he's having that.
He's We're now looking at him like he's like a 39 year old veteran who's been out of the game of sport league for a while, and he's on his last leg and the fact that he's only 30 and we have ever, and we're looking at him that way.
I think it's just really depressing.
Uh, here's what I'll say.
I think you will agree with me with this.
For any Ravens fans out there, I want to say Oh, we need to go way Don't let's not resign Lamar Jackson watch this game.
Well, I don't care. I don't care.
I don't care if they were missing their key players.
You can't tell me that.
You can't tell 1st.
1st of all, we don't know who's gonna be in the draft for next couple of years.
We don't know where they're gonna picks.
We don't know who.
Don't say we could get a guy to draft RG three like we just said.
He's on his last legs.
Unfortunately, he's on his last legs.
Second, I know there's a tick tock song about Trace McSorley.
And I know the most popular position is a backup quarterback.
I know that, but trace McSorley is no more than a poor man's Taysom Hill.
Yeah, I mean, that's basically what he is.
He went to high school 10 minutes from me and toward my high school up a few times, but had a nice pass there, though.
I mean, Hollywood Brown kind of own trail.
Charles Evans was really bad that game.
That's his worst game of the season.
To be honest with you, he was having a good year.
Yeah, I think it's like one of those things where, like I said, it's like it's clear that we're missing Lamar Jackson.
I mean, it's clear that if he was running this offense and, like, I mean, he, we will at least would have had more points.
I mean, we were been able open to playbook more often, but I mean, like anyone saying that Oh, we shouldn't resign the Mars like watch this game he Here he is, Ravensoffense He's E and And the good thing is that if you unfortunately because he hasn't down here, you could get him for, like 35 37 year.
But for a guy like him who's only 23 his free, his extension is gonna be like when he's 26 27 28 years old and you expect he's gonna get better if you give him or help.
And those guys you have to imagine like it's gonna be around 40 million market value.
If you could get him around 36 37 38 year, that might be a bargain like you don't know what you could, what else you could do with saving two or three million from that, so I really Yeah, I really would want the Ravens to open the negotiations with the more now because like like we're both both of us like baseball fans and hockey fans as well closer to get free agency, the more expensive you become.
And you gotta imagine the Mark Jackson is going.
It's gonna have teams tripping all over for him when he's a free agent.
Yeah, they don't have to go and give up a first round pick.
They can use that on a receiver and then use that with Lamar s.
I mean, that's that's what I say about him.
I didn't want to finish up, though.
Yeah, we'll get to our next thing.
Yeah, I saw all this talk on Twitter from people like that.
We went to my school and people regular people online.
The stewards of the worst 11 in a team like like you guys are a bunch of morons and honestly don't know anything about football.
I just think that's a ridiculous take.
Um, you don't go 11 and no, by accident.
I mean, I saw this that I mean buddy, five teams in the last 22 years have won 11.
No, I mean, look into going 11? No, sure, you get a couple of games.
I mean, they've been lucky to win the Dallas game And this game, of course, But you know, most of the other winds they've won like mostly convincingly, I would say, E would say convincingly.
I mean, it's not like like last year was the Ravens where they would win one in, like 59 10 or 45 6 or 40 to 10.
But I mean, yeah, I mean, I would say like if you win by 10, you win by 14.
That's convincing, but I would like to see that against, like, a team like the Ravens.
Like a destiny as they were.
I would have liked to like if you're a fan, I would have liked to see, like, a 20 point win or something like 100% agree that.
I just I think like the people that are just like roasting them by saying that weird take.
It's just like go home, get lost.
It's mainly people who just want a reaction.
It's like when it's like when, um, if that's why, on just like on the undisputed, they always like try to put in, like, three or four of them.
Uh, LeBron topics like they know what's gonna happen every single time.
I mean, like, this is like the second best team in the conference.
Can cities a better team than them and you could make an argument.
This is the second best team in football.
That's the thing.
These are the two top teams in the Yeah, on paper, Absolutely.
On paper. Absolutely.
And yeah, it's just crazy to me that people, like, just say, like the one of the most overweighted 11 team.
They staying like everyone just talks about how bad they are.
It's just like they obviously have issues.
They've had issues all year long, and hopefully they can correct them.
As the playoffs get closer, they can clinch a spot this week.
They can clinch the North this weekend.
I expect them to clinch the North this weekend because Cleveland and going to go down to Tennessee and beat them.
But it's just no, you guys, you guys, you guys unofficially have clinched north because you're not the type of your over Baltimore, and then you have you already be in Cleveland once, so that's not going like That's not gonna even Yeah, you probably have the type of Grover Cleveland as well at some point.
So yeah, well, I just wanted to say I'm just thinking, Tired of them, talking about how bad we are.
It's just like Shut up! Ah! And also like, I'm thinking, like also on the Ravens side of things like saying that Lamar Jackson.
The link has figured out Lamar Jackson, like you can figure out this offense or this is like a gim****y offense.
I'm like, No, it's not like you lose Marshal Yanda.
What do you think happens? Like You don't get it.
You don't get hard. Number one target.
Yeah, Ronnie Stanley is not there either.
Ronnie Stanley, isn't there? Yeah.
I mean, I'll say this.
The Hayden Hurst trade when they trade in for a second round pick, it's a move you make for the future.
Yeah, it's a move you make because you know that guts Edwards is a free agent after this year.
You know that Mark Ingram is getting up there in age.
If you're releasing to get five million savings, in fact, all this is just kind of like a brief thing.
But this is how I think this is a move for the future.
It definitely hurts the president.
I would have gotten a Band Aid solution like a Delaney Walker on a one year deal to kind of offset the loss of Hayden hers.
But the way I looked at that Hayden Hurst trade was, and I wanna hear your thoughts on this one.
Getting Dobyns within the second round gives you a clear running back one.
Yeah, and then with that pick and then with that pick, you can now release Ingram, get the five million back and savings, and then either resigned Gus Edwards or use that money in a way that indirectly helps the running back position.
So it's it's worked out for both you and you get just in market and you get Justin Taylan.
And not only that, you also like and and to me it's like taking care like preemptively thinking about Oh, this might be a secondary need this year, but a primary need next year.
So we solve this problem now, or at least get the bulk of it done.
Now we don't have to invest.
The amount of resource is that we would need to invest next year in this position.
I think that's a smart way of doing the GM because I think being a GM, if you're GM, you don't want to deal with like primary needs, which take a ton of resource is the more you found on them, the less you can spend on everyone else and the last primary needs you have and the more luxury needs or secondary needs you have.
I think that's the way you kind of build a more balanced team.
So I think that Hayden her straight and allowing them to get three third round picks because you got extra second, you could turn out to three third round picks, and then those guys kind of became key piece, that they could become key pieces.
And then pretty much that trade worked out well, Uh, do you want to preview the Steelers and football team previous game? Sure.
I mean, there's really not much to say.
It's a short week.
Um, there's a lot to take it on the schedule.
Honestly, you could make a case for this one.
It's an NSC team.
If the Sea will still 15 and one of the season as well as the Chiefs, I think they win the tiebreaker over them.
If I'm not mistaken, just because they're only loss will be to an NFC team in the sewers would have they? They would have won every team against the A F C.
The Chiefs would not have.
They would have that.
I think it's conference record so that when the Tigers so there's a game to lose and Uncle 16? No.
Yeah, I had to head.
They didn't play each other.
It's probably cause it's probably common opponents and I don't have the information in front of me.
And so I can answer that fourth division record.
The Steelers would be six.
No Chiefs will be five and one.
I'm not really sure what the first tiebreaker is, though, but I think common records common teams. Maybe.
I think you have the right.
I'm not mistaken.
Right? Uh, my thoughts on this game, uh, Pouncey is gonna be out.
If he tested positive, he's gonna be out.
Unfortunately, you so and we have close contact, and then he's able to come back to the game, though I'm not sure if he's Yeah, that's the thing.
Like whether he's close contact or positive.
We don't know, uh, football team of the great D line.
That's gonna be up for you guys.
Ah, and I think on offense, Terry McLaurin is gonna be a tough matchup.
Yeah, Alex Smith is that good, though.
He's kind of be running for his life from TJ Watt.
I would think, if they don't Yeah, who's the running back again? And General Gibson? Yeah, he's good.
Do you Like you said there D line is awesome.
I mean, Chase Young's, uh, he's a stud man.
He's easy to be so good.
They saw they saw Carrigan there, Right? I'm making, like, their fifth pass rusher or something.
Yeah, but you know, Chase Young is awesome there.
Their secondary is I mean, it's an underrated defense, To be honest, I mean, their team all right, but they're four and seven.
They're still not that good.
The Steelers should win this game, but, you know, short week playing again on that next Sunday against the deals.
I'm not gonna be really upset if they lose this game.
They're kind of honestly do to lose one anyway.
But if they're able to win it, they lock up the North.
I'm going to be awesome.
They already basically have it.
But if they win, they also puts their playoff.
I thought I think they have.
They can clinch it four different ways this weekend.
They have, like one of three teams, lose e.
I mean, they've already clinched a place on my own, but they should.
They should win this game.
But you know, like you said any given Sunday, that's what people don't understand.
You know, that's also thinking when I laughed at when they say like they're like, Oh, like people think like they, they're going to go to the Super Bowl It's like any given Sunday a team can beat a team.
I've always been told.
Yeah, like the Titans beat the Ravens last year in the playoffs, went on paper.
Ravens now granted their injuries and e said like like about like like the cheese and I was like, I'm just saying like any given Sunday, like with the Chiefs be favorable, absolutely.
They probably will be bus, but like any given day, a team that can beat another team.
So I just I just want to say that too, but, um, should women, and then they have that big game against Buffalo.
That's gonna be a fun one.
Um, I don't know about Josh.
He's good, but then e digs is helping him a lot.
Do you want to review your game? Yeah, sure.
So I think a lot of this game, this should be a game to the Ravens when? Ah, lot of it depends on who is coming back.
Because Lamar apparently.
So, um, I was watching ESPN and die University, and he said that So apparently when you get covered, it's 10 days a quarantine and then a two or three day ramp up period.
So Lamar would be in that second day of that ramp up period, which is why Dobbins and Ingram were in plain because they were.
If they were activated, they would have been activated on the day of the game.
So you gotta be worried.
You gotta worry about soft tissue injuries and stuff like that.
So it wasn't worth playing either of those guys and risk them getting reinjured or something like that.
so eso if if If trace McSorley is starting, I mean, the cowboys and he's gonna have some practice so I can see him have, Honestly, I would consider starting him, seeing how he does.
And then if he doesn't do well, then goto Lamar if he's activated.
But if traces playing well, just keep him in there.
Because obviously, Lamar is not gonna be Lamar after, like, um, like getting covert.
I mean, he might take a while so I could see a combination of both of them Kind of being being in the game.
Oh, I think Dobbins and Ingram should be back.
I don't think they I think it was just more of just We don't want soft tissue injury.
Just like they weren't playing.
Hopefully Brandon Williams and plays Campbell.
Um, obviously Dallas, obviously, Dallas has three receivers.
I mean, that's gonna be tough.
I mean, Ezekiel Elliott has butter fingers at this point.
Honestly, Yeah, he's terrible.
I doubt Benjamin fantasy I got, but most starting this week.
Thanks for the reminder.
Yeah, and then, yeah, I mean, I if I'm Ezekiel Elliott, I do not want to run your Marlon Humphrey like if I have Butterfingers, I don't want to run here, Marlon Humphrey, because, Marlon, I think Marlin has like six forced fumbles this year so far.
And he's and I think he's missed one game.
So, like, that's how good the guy is like he has, like, and and by the way, I see a lot of like Ravens corn, especially that Steelers game that, you know, like you know, that they like the peanut Tillman punch out move that he didn't do that.
Yeah, he's trying on on juju.
He didn't once last year and the juju was like, Oh, I know he I know he's going to do that.
So he So he's holding the bowl extra tight.
Oh, absolutely, Yeah and yeah, on that play with James Washington when you saw James like in the fourth floor, when he catches it and then you see Chuck Clark literally wrestled him to the ground.
And even when the play is done, you you kind of see him kind of like trying to yank that ball from I mean, it's like a lot of like the corner from out learning from from Humphries.
And so if I'm so if I'm Ezekiel Elliott, I'm holding on to that ball super tight.
I might do something illegal, like, put on, Like to stick on the gloves.
Because those guys, because that defense is coming for you.
And that defense is gonna try toe yank the ball out any way they can.
So I they should win.
I mean, it depends a lot on health.
I mean, we needed um obviously, we're five days away from the games.
We have no idea who's gonna be healthy, who is not gonna be healthy and all that other stuff.
So e I mean, that's how that's what I think.
Uh, obviously they've seen Andy Dalton plenty of times.
Andy Dalton has seen down plenty of times.
And I'm just gonna ended by saying with my weekly reminder that Greg Roman is a one trick pony.
He's done this in San Francisco.
He did it in his.
His track record in San Francisco is League has figured him out.
Then he goes to Buffalo.
Chiron has won 30 years league figured him out.
If I'm the Ravens, I'm saying sorry, Greg, you can go.
Um and I think that they should go after, like, the cortex.
So James Urban as an in house option.
But I wanna hear your your thoughts on this.
So they're two options that are former, their current head coach, that we don't know if they're gonna be fired or not.
Anthony Lynn Now also is my insulin.
He was the guy that replaced Greg Roman in Buffalo.
So if Anthony Lynn was fired, theoretically and he do you think he would be and Greg Roman was fired as well.
Do you think that Anthony Lynn as an offensive coordinator, not as a head coach, would do a good job at least better than he is in L.
Right now? Because he just continues to make mistake.
E don't know if you saw what happened when they got the Hail Mary at the five yard like they did a Q B sneak who was just in her but no time left.
He's just such a he said that I was the head coach.
Hoffman's going there, though, I think, and the other option is this John Harbaugh. Uh oh.
He hits former employee was in and was in, uh, Philadelphia.
Now eso he learned from Andy Reid.
Now there's another there.
The coach as a disciple of Andy Reid that it's on the hot seat.
And that's Doug Peterson Now.
I don't know if he and I know they had some joint practices.
I wouldn't mind seeing Doug Peterson kind of like being there for a year as the offensive coordinator, rebuild his value and go somewhere else and then make James Urban the next offensive coordinator.
But, I mean, I think he could.
I think Pietersen could be a decent offensive coordinator, I think so.
That's why what he's better suited for that Super Bowl win that he had is still probably the biggest flutes have ever seen.
What happened after that has just been a like a freefall, basically, yeah, and then friend.
And for those Ravens fans that want to know like, Oh, it's hard, But it's going to get one of his boys to be the offensive coordinator.
Do keep in mind.
When they hired Gary Kubiak a few years ago, he, uh that was an Ozzie Newsome choice.
That was not Harbaugh choice.
So does DeCosta override Um, Harbaugh on this and say, like, Oh, Doug Peterson available.
Let's go get him, E Think maybe I would love to see, like, someone like him in there.
So let's now it's any Was there any other games? Um, games or you wanna talk about either this week or last week in the NFL? E Yeah, Titans are getting hot at the right moment.
I mean, they crushed the colts pretty good.
The Titans also just they're playing well, they're probably when the a f c Wow.
Um alright, guys, to be Cleveland this week, that would be That would be great if they could do that.
That basically just locks up even more.
But really nothing.
Other stuff in the n f l e.
It's still embarrassing.
I mean, uh, Brady still looking older.
I mean, I don't think I think Arians is.
I think it Bruce Areas might be looking for a new job, sometimes soon.
I don't know about that.
Probably stay there next year.
But Brady looks washed.
He ain't That's not the same time, Brady that we're used to seeing, um, you know, love, love seeing Antonio around kind of struggle down there, but the Chiefs are just a machine.
It was a close game at the end, but, I mean, there really weren't any danger of losing that game.
Mental thing, my homes.
It's just best player on the point, that man, it's it's gonna be really tough for any team to be done.
But do you want to go into what's going to happen tomorrow night with the football team? E.
I mean, okay, let me say this.
Uh, now here's I'm not watching that game.
Yeah, I'm not watching that game.
I mean, I'll probably keep an eye out on the on the ESPN app to see if it's close, but if it's close, then I'll yeah, I'll turn it on.
But I'm not like I'm not going to watch the game.
I mean, there hasn't really been any news on the coaching front.
I mean, I think that one I think that Evan Watkin said, um, like there's an over 30% chance that Fuentes fire, But then again, not 100.
So we don't know.
Yeah, I'm on the board right now really going on there today.
We did get a couple of recruits, like the Twin Corners or something.
I mean, way you talk about the bath, the basketball team.
That's what fun team to watch There are.
They struggled a bit last night.
That was kind of a bit a little too close against VM.
Yeah, before no, which is great.
They could go in a little bit of a run here.
I think they get Penn State coming up.
Yeah, they have pencil next.
Yeah, and then they have a few games against couple gimme opponents, which they should do.
And what You know, we only have, like, four more games against nonconference teams for the A.
C C. Schedule starts.
I mean, yeah, that would be yes. I think that those will be big.
Here's what say I'm I mean, last year.
I mean, after, uh, it seemed like they were relying a lot on the three pointer last year.
And if they obviously one of the reasons why they struggled last year was because that they what was the word? Uh ****.
Let me see if I'm Oh, yes.
It looks like Harper had some technical difficulties for a little bit, but yes.
So, uh, yeah, I think yeah.
Hunter will join up.
Should join up in a few seconds, right? Pretty much.
What I was saying is that the basketball team last year relied a lot on three pointers.
And when this team struck, when they weren't making those three pointers, when they were when they weren't making those three pointers, then they were able to, uh, they struggle shooting.
But in VM, I obviously had one of those games where they had against me and my they struggle, but they were able to pull away with victory.
And what I like is that this team this year feel like this team can actually win.
This team can win, and, uh, this team can win multiple ways now.
Obviously, they have to play against tougher opponents.
So we don't know if, uh, if they will, how much of a deficit they can have.
And if because of that, we don't know because of that we have.
And because and so that's that's to be seen.
I think Hunter was right.
This is a This could be a tournament team and and yes, I mean, that's my thoughts I mean, I'll get his thoughts on what I was just saying when he comes, when he comes back into the when he comes back into the stream, when it comes, when it comes back into the stream and then Ah, well, just Well, let me try something.
I mean, and then I'll just kind of recap a bit A bit of baseball news.
Yeah, call Schwarber.
And no, that's not that's not there.
He he got a nontendered.
He was nontendered.
And here Ah, uh yeah.
So Hunter should come back pretty soon.
Eso Kyle Schwarber was non tender, which is a shock.
I mean, there's other guys Thio Let me just bring them up on Twitter about some other guys who are surprised on tenders, and then we're gonna see what we have here.
Uh, let's see, there's some tweets here.
Ah, yeah, I think you were here.
Is the Well Yeah.
So those, um yeah.
So it'll be interesting to see where he goes.
The Mets obviously signed cover May, which I think is an underrated signing.
He's an underrated part of this bullpen, okay? And yeah, He's an underrated signing of with his bullpen.
And then you see where, which is he respond with? Yeah, So you should join up pretty soon? Uh, yeah.
So hey, should be on the right part of bullpen.
I think that I think it was telling that he said that the reason why Trevor Mesa Reservoir may sign what why he signed with the Mets was because, ah, he was excited by the what Steve Cohen was doing.
Then there's other trips, right? And then other baseball news, too.
There was the Yeah, there was other baseball needs to.
There was the What's the character? What's the, uh, the Orioles traded Jose Iglesias to the Angels for a couple of pictures.
I understand that Orioles fans are upset about this one because Jose Iglesias was a good one. A good player.
They don't they don't while they understand you for rebuild.
They get frustrated with, um, how thes moves actually hurt the team in the present.
But the fact But the point is they're trying to rebuild his farm system and the fact that we were able to get the 21st best prospect and Angels farm system for their radio.
I have no idea what had just happened there.
The WiFi randomly decided to go out, so that was fun.
Yeah, no problem.
So what I was saying before, Yeah, yeah.
So what I was saying before, Yes, I was gonna I was gonna I'm gonna kind of recap like, a couple minutes ago, but I'm pretty much What I'm saying is I feel like last year the basketball team relied a lot on three pointers.
Yeah, so, like whenever last year that we were, like, not making threes like we weren't scoring.
But I just feel like this year, this team's lot deeper and granted V m I v m.
I like we'll see against tougher competition.
But if we can't make three that I feel I do feel more confident that we can provide points another way.
But what are your thoughts on that? Yeah, I mean, they're deeper this year.
Two and a lot of those players last year and now more experience.
He Moline I mean, Carter Diarra.
He's been good, but he's also been kinda And at times, I mean AlumAl this kid, this transfer kittel UMA is awesome.
Um, you know, it kind of reminds me a little bit of Blackshear a bit, but it's just, you know, that this seems fine.
My corn is a great coach, you know, accountability from him.
Man is it's like he admits when he messes up.
I know Coach who does not do that, who runs the football team.
So it's just like night and day with, like, their coaching styles.
I know different sports, but it's just like the way they conduct themselves for the program.
I mean, my Maekyung is just that it's looking to be a fantastic.
I'm really excited to keep watching them this year when he was hired, or where you one of those guys were like, Oh, are you going? Are you sure that bottom? Honestly, I know he almost be Kentucky in the tournament, which was pretty big, but which is the big thing? Yeah, I know, but yeah, I agree.
I mean, it's just it's just interesting to see that, like everyone, like, a lot of people were clamoring Virginia Tech forgetting Michael Mike Young because he wasn't like the big, big, higher like and ironically, like one day at the end of 2015 was like the hot name in college football and look how that turned out and Mike Young with more of a man choice, and he's turned out really well.
So I mean, I like what he's done there on, but I think I kind of went into about baseball and I brought up how there's like, guys.
I call for Burr, who you wouldn't you wouldn't think would be nontendered.
They were nontendered, so that was a shock.
To see something like not cut money, a lot of teams or not wanting to spend, that's for sure.
Yeah, and I think with the Orioles, um, they traded Jose.
I think I texted this like they trade Jose Iglesias to the Angels, and in a lot of them, I think a lot of them understand this is a rebuilding team, but they don't.
I think they their patients when it comes, and I understand that moves in the present like the move that they make will help them in the future.
They will hurt him in the present, and they don't and they were like, oh, well into their minds.
Oh, we traded Jose Iglesias like who are you playing shortstop? Who? Something shortstop.
Eso that kind of like, What are you doing? But I mean, I I get that move.
I mean, here's the thing like, Are we have a We have the best farm system in baseball.
And when I looked at MLB dot com and our scouting report, the 26 29th best prospect in our in our system were described as guys who can throw, who has a four pitch mix who could throw all four for strikes and could be a back end starter.
And that's your 26 29th best prospect.
I mean your farm system.
If you could say that about your 20 like your back end of your top 30 that's a pretty good farm system.
That's pretty decent.
Yeah, yeah, and and and And And the other thing is like seeing like the the Tommy Malone tray where they got back to guys.
They actually got back the Braves.
Well, for the brave, it was their 23rd best prospect.
Now get that. I don't understand that.
Um, I don't understand that.
Like how you get the 23rd best prospect and someone else for Tommy Malone.
That's pretty bad, like in five starts the time.
You know, I I don't understand that one at all.
But like on the Orioles system, he came in and he was like the 29th best prospect.
And then once we made that trade the Jose Iglesias trade, he actually got bumped off the top 30.
So there's a guy we trade way with one trade.
We actually trade for a guy who in their former organization with 23 but now in our organization, his new organization, he's not even a top 30.
So I mean, e mean Terran Vavreck, Kevin Smith.
I mean, I think Kevin Smith might have been a top 10 prospect for the Mets, and he's like the 12th best guy in the Orioles system.
I mean, I think that the deep moves are really smart in the sense that they're Biltmore for the future.
I think fans really need to understand it, that it's a process member of the Billy Beane says.
It's a process and and here's the thing that's really interesting.
I think what Michael eyes is doing and when you're you're you can provide your thoughts on this one I think that finding number ones and number twos are difficult in your rotation, like you have to draft them or trade from.
So yeah, so what Michael Eyes is doing is he's trading for as many guys as he can, because right now he has John Means, Keegan aching and Dean Kramer, Bruce Zimmerman.
I think he's a longer leave guy, but those guys are already in the majors.
But he's trying to trade and develop draft as many 345 guys as he can, so he knows find.
And by doing that, the guys who aren't in the bullpen theme guys who basically have a place on team, you could say, have a place on team.
You can then determine how maney redundant pictures you have.
Those guys then get flipped or number one and number two type pitchers that way that you still have your 34 or five guys in a surplus.
You're so you're trading from a surplus, but you still have that surplus.
E think that's a smart strategy that he's doing, Yeah, no, and I agree with you it issue No, you're building for the future.
You're getting back a bunch of prospects for some of these guys somehow, like Tommy Malone getting back.
And then these guys will be ready for you in the future.
I mean, like no one thought.
Who's a glacier? You like the fact that the Orioles were able to find him in, like, January, like on a two year deal? That's pretty good.
Oh, no. It's like one year in an option.
Yeah, Yeah, I like the fact we were able to flip him in, like a lot of people like, Oh, we should have kept Jose Iglesias.
Like, you do realize that.
Jose Iglesias hit 3.
Do you really think that he's gonna hit 3 73 next year? No, no, I mean provides good defense, but, I mean, he's a veteran, and then you have anything that nontendered Hanser Alberto.
But Alberto kind of struggled this year.
I mean, he was great against lefties in 2019, But him Nunez, we're not to Nunes Rio Ruiz or these there is like there these guys like placeholder players that you put in positions and then when your prospects are ready to go, then you let them go on and put your prospects in.
And then you go.
Okay, So these guys were good, And then we have these four or five guys who are redundant.
Um, we're gonna flip them, and then we're gonna go get more pieces like that.
And I think that alliance isn't happy with the top, uh, the best farm system.
I think he's really trying to get to a top five top three.
And he said, This is not fun.
Like, it's not fun for me.
I wanna have a winning team.
Way to understand.
We're not gonna be winning next year.
Like he basically said it without saying it.
We're not winning that year.
No, we're not like it's a 23 year thing.
Yeah, you're not. Yeah.
So for me, it's more so.
I mean, just interesting seeing, like how fans react.
I mean, I don't think there's anything for the nationals.
Um, I don't after big bats, Juan Soto has been very instrumental in trying to get some of these guys to come here.
You're looking at J T Realmuto? Yeah.
So I think that I think really neutral could potentially go to nationals because the Mets are apparently in talks with James McCann on a four year deal.
Who is actually pretty good. He's actually good.
Um, so that means the Philly said they're crying poor on Realmuto, so I mean, he could go to nationals.
I mean, that could be interesting.
I'll be nice to give him another big bat.
They just need a big Like I said, they need another big back head on.
So no, they're not Rendon Valley.
How? I mean, they're missed it.
We need to get a replacement for him, Just his batting.
I mean, they can put Carter to keep him on the field, But is he gonna replace his batting or any of those to the guys that they signed? No.
And they need another starter to because Anibal Sanchez is walking.
So that should be interesting to see where they brought in yet.
I mean, there's plenty is I mean, there's Corey Kluber, who's who could be a solid buy low sell high candidate.
Yeah, I mean, they have their top three set.
You have the number for Archer.
I mean, what are your thoughts on Archer is the fifth start, Chris Archer is 1/5 of the number five.
Maybe I could see that.
I mean, they have Joe Ross is probably the number five year.
They want someone to start ahead of him.
I would think they don't want Ross is their number four.
But you have a big three there there, Um, just gotta get someone else and maybe another bullpen arm.
And that's honestly, probably yet there's not even needs.
That's a big one, just a bat and then a picture.
It's not really my only it.
Yeah, I think we'll and we'll just do one quick thing and then we'll end to show their But what were your thoughts on the John Wall? Russell Westbrook create, um, that you ask you that? You know, I had the privilege of being John Wall play when I was probably one.
By the way, not Thio cut you out there, actually met John Hard, but once so I mean, that's interesting.
He was actually really like, And by the way, he's short, like he's a lot shorter in person.
I give John Harbaugh a lot of ****, just for obvious reasons.
Just because I hate his brother to Yeah, Who do you who do you prefer him or his brother? Because I would prefer John over Jim.
Yeah, that's tough, but probably him.
John, I I hate it.
I hate his brother so much, but they're both They're both just total ass is on the field.
One is just way worse than the other.
I mean, yeah, but yeah, going back to what John Wall it is.
You know, I had the privilege of going to a lot of the wizard games as a kid, you know, watching him and I was really 12, 13 years old.
He had been there for, what, 10 years? He sat there for a long time and gave the world he was.
He was the main reason a lot of people went to those games.
I mean, when they were 15 and 60 some years, he was the obviously the best player.
E mean I would go to games.
I mean, they would win.
Like like I said 15, 16 games a year, they I would go to a game where they would win just because of how great he waas.
And though he was, he's one of the best athletes I think to come through D. C.
Um, it sucks that they never got him a championship.
But Russell Wilson rough. Russell Wilson.
Good Lord Russell Westbrook.
Coming the other way is big for them.
I mean, he's all he's a bona fide superstar.
I understand he probably would be able to place where John Wall did, um, off the court.
But on the court, um, he replaces him and then some.
You know, that's a superstar for the Wizards.
And I think they're the contracts.
Don't really unfortunately negative part of the contract like they're not great contracts.
Um, but, I mean, they're similar players.
I mean, Russell icing.
Westbrook's like, two years older than John.
I want to say he's a couple years older than him.
But, I mean, I think that I think that it would be an interesting move.
I mean, it'll be interesting to see how well Westbrook hand works with Bradley.
Beal will be fun.
It's just Yeah, I heard a lot of fans.
I mean, you know, I took a little personal.
I grew up watching the Wizards.
A bunch of, you know, like Tripoli Lakers because of Kobe and all that.
But, you know, I always did goto a bunch of wizards games.
I had a John wall jersey For what? I gotta figure out where that is.
I think it's buried in my Oh, yeah, I'm like John Walsh I'm wearing right now.
I had it buried in my jersey somewhere.
I had a Gilbert Arenas jersey that I had to sell because he's just a total ass.
But yeah, it stinks, you know, But they just never did him right there on, um, you know, he goes to a team that's pretty good team in the Western Conference, but you know, we have to go through Los Angeles.
Who the Lakers just signed LeBron and 80 Thio big contract deals.
Oh, and I think someone brought it up about LeBron's like he signed just His extension is just enough to make him a free agent and one his kid can enter the draft.
I'm not kidding.
Like a like a growth spurt like his kids like 65 Now is this kid like 18 yet, or is he's, like, 16 or 17? Jesus, God time.
Just like you know, like once the show is done like take a look at E.
I mean, hey, he just looks like he is definitely looks like Like he's like Like, if the bronze, like heads here like brownies is it is like that. It's insane.
How, and he's only 16.
I mean, I could see him extent going all the way to the Lakers, and then he plays one year, like wherever his son goes.
He's gonna play one year with that team and just they call the career just basically, Yeah, I mean, that would be interesting.
The last point of the Wizards, I am.
They did draft like it was the ninth overall pick.
I didn't really follow the NBA draft too much, but apparently they did take, like, one of those guys that people thought could go in the top three or top four.
So, Well, I mean, look out for a withers.
I mean, this could be a sneaking Michigan State is really good, too, so yeah, yeah, him as well.
So I mean, look out for this team has, like, a contender of the East.
I mean, I mean, they could be they could be a solid team soon. Absolutely.
