But that's secure in real time.
This is all right. Good morning.
Book a little throwback little whole body.
So when we first started in the show way way started off every single morning with a little this these events occur in real time.
This takes place in between 9 a.
and 10 a.m. And Mike figure.
It was gonna be a nice little surprise for you because I know we both appreciate that little intro.
And, uh, it's gonna be a staple for us here on out.
And you gotta love it well, and to assure people that were actually really And we're actually doing this in real time as opposed to fake time, which events to occur in real time.
You know what, Thea era of the reboot is here.
I mean, and I know we're not big fans of the reboot.
Of course, Cobra Kai is the exception, and I will fight anyone that says the otherwise.
But no, all kidding aside, I mean, you know, you you're bringing back a little nostalgia and the people love it, so, yeah, I like the Jack Bauer intro.
It felt normal and it felt ready to go.
So that's that's That's pretty good.
Yeah, that's Ah, no, I agree.
And I felt like we had been missing that for a while.
And there's gonna be some some added, um, stuff to the intro.
There were working on something here for the video side of things here on SportsCastr because, you know, of course, you know, we want to be able to, uh, you know, we wanna be able thio spruce it up a little bit in the last thing you guys wanna do is stare at us.
Uh, certainly May Mike's not moving.
Actually, uh, maybe we could put your album cover up their Micah a za placeholder for the intro.
I knew this was gonna come up.
I pretty much figured you did tease on this yesterday.
Please go ahead. Right.
Please go ahead.
Placate the masses, let them know.
Well, yeah, I got I got a lot of problems with you people.
Well, here's this by you people.
I mean you Well, here's the thing.
I thea other day I just happened.
Thio, I just I happen to be, you know, going down that rabbit hole of YouTube songs.
And, you know, naturally, I was in the eighties genre, and, uh, obviously, you know, we all know the song we all know.
Well, at least those of us in the age group that that were in probably know the song.
I'm not going to speak for anyone younger than us, but, um, I couldn't get over the fact that you're your image that we use on this show.
And, of course, anyone who watches it on SportsCastr sees it every single day.
Uh, to me, I just I saw the Benny Marred owns, never run never hide album cover.
And I thought, Wow, he has the same look that Mike does.
And I'm like, Okay, that's pretty funny.
And the more I thought about it, I was like, I can't get this out of my head.
I mean, it became I hate to admit it, but it became an obsession.
Like, uh, I was very much let's say I had I had to see this for myself.
I had to have it materialized and become something really.
So So, folks, I'm gonna treat you to something here and I'm gonna put it up here on the screen If you're watching sports gets.
If you're not watching on SportsCastr, you should probably probably head over there right now.
Sportscasting dot com slash fbc But folks, here it is Mike Debate keeping a sharp eye right on your right on your screen there.
Yes, folks, it is.
Um, yeah, it's It's a thing of beauty, Let me tell you, I am proud of it.
It's the best photo shop work I've ever done on Guy, you know, again, that's not saying much, but, uh, Mike, Well done, my friend.
And I I feel like it's ah, it's an homage to you in a way, even though again, you know, Hey, maybe it's not.
You know, let's say maybe it's not the most, you know, best quality image, but I think it's pretty good.
Yeah, you definitely got an A on the on the photo shopping.
That's there's no question about that.
But, you know, you sent me the video the other day.
You sent me the the album cover and yeah, here we Oh, go ahead, Mike.
Yeah, You'll love it.
Love in this too much, aren't you? Oh, I'm eso It did. Wait a minute.
We're coming up to my point here. Let's Let's let's turn this up a little bit. E.
Oh, you missed the cue. A little bit.
Yeah, I got to get perfect placement down a little bit now.
It's been a while since you performed this song, my friend.
Right? Hold it right there.
Hold on. Hold on, E.
I wasn't ready for the for the for the pause.
All right, First of all, hold it right there.
You sent me the video.
You sent me the other album cover. I thought it was funny.
And you said I'm gonna superimpose er and yeah, I kind of I was I was waiting for that.
But you know what? It sends you down a rabbit hole.
It gets me looking at the video, you know, thinking about the song and into the night.
You know, we hear it on, you know, light radio and all that.
You know? You hear it in the supermarket, you know, things like that.
Right off the bat.
She's just 16 years old.
Did anybody actually get this song back when it was made? There is no way this would make it through the censors today.
And the video was just this creepy.
You know, Benny, God rest, you know, unfortunately, passed away over the summer.
You know, may he rest in peace, definitely not disparaging him.
But, you know, then he doesn't exactly look like he's 6 16 himself.
He looks like he's pushing 40 in this video, peering into and just, you know, creepily watching the 16 year old girl and then whisking her off in the middle of the night with on this magic carpet.
You know, he's making out with her. I'm like some raft.
I mean, you know, really? I mean, it's I'm expensive.
I'm expecting at this point Chris Hansen to come out with video crew girl, please.
Yeah, right over there.
What do you think you're doing? You just have a seat right over there.
Yeah, really? I mean, that Z we'll think about it.
Look, he's not He's not the only one to If if you think think about the Michael Jackson the way you make me feel music video where basically with with a gang like like a group of guys stalking this one Singular female.
Uh, it Z there's a lot of things.
Videos like that from back in the day that just would not pass the smell test.
Let's put it that way.
But back to the point.
The point is you're you're profiles.
Yeah, the photo shop.
I gotta give you credit on the Photoshop.
It is hilarious.
You did a great job, you know, Absolutely.
I could definitely I could take a joke.
But But then when I actually started to look at this, I was, like, really, really associated with this.
I'm like, yeah, really.
I don't know if I should be too proud of this right now.
Yeah, so you know it.
Well, it's it's just it's it's gearing us up for the, uh for the official FBC CALENDAR FBC RADIO CALENDAR Where Mike and I will recreate all of our favorite, uh, eighties album covers and eighties movie covers, too.
So if you if you feel like torturing your eyes each and every month, keep an eye out for that keep a sharp eye out for that.
Keeping with the theme of the theme of the Yeah, Worked out Well, there was a couple of phrases, a couple of things we could have taglines we could've gone with in that instance.
But I think it fit 50 image.
You're you're keeping a sharp eye.
That that image that that always, um that's always how I think about it when I see that image.
So yeah, And you know what? The more I'm thinking about that phrase along with the associated of this song, it's just the creepy creepy.
You know, ladder is just like it's off the charts right now.
The creep m is like the needle broke off.
This is not gonna end well for me.
My friends know as long as it ends.
Well, for May, I couldn't care less.
Um, yeah, that's pretty.
Well, thanks a lot, man.
Just run me through the mud.
Not only kidding.
Now, folks. You know what? Yep.
Um Well, is that going to say I You know, honestly, I don't know.
I I never know what I'm going to say, because hey, I just kind of go out to sea to my, uh whatever the phrase is, I don't even know what the phrase.
I don't even know why I tried toe Say what that phrase was because I had no idea what it was going into it.
But hey, credit me.
We have a lot of stuff to get to today.
Of course it's Friday, which means we get to give our picks.
And if you absolutely you noticed.
It's been some time since we played the perfect song.
And there's good reason for that.
We've been far from perfect.
So yes, Ian and I the last couple of weeks have both royally sucks.
There's pretty much No.
Yeah, Although I was I was 30.
I was 13 and three last week, so I can't really say I was completely terrible, but, you know, far from perfect.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, it definitely gonna be perfect.
12 no is better than 13 and two or three or whatever You win. Okay.
Alright, alright, alright.
Don't get me just like, uh, just, like, you know, getting just like getting thio.
You know, all these Super Bowls and stuff like that is is worse than a Well, forget it.
I can't I can't do it right now.
Because we're still recovering from this whole Benny Marred.
So, uh, Mikey Meagher don't know that, uh, again.
That's three only association.
Ricky Martin sounds Sounds like a bad mobster or something.
A e got Mikey Madan coming.
Oh, it kind of works that way.
Got that goal we got.
You know, that's that's all.
That's good since symptom.
I'm looking forward to the Christmas card.
So, um oh, that will be my Christmas card photo Photoshop Little Santa hat on me for that.
Why the hell did I just say that? Oh, man, I'm gonna have a lot of fun.
And, uh, yeah, it clearly my priorities are this is what they are.
It's like, Well, I need to develop a filter.
I have to stop saying these things.
No, no, no, it's never gonna happen.
I will always bring out the worst in you.
Um, there was something else, though you shared with me that that isn't quite, um quite is comical.
At least there's the Photoshop that I shared with you.
But, you know, we talk obviously wrestling a lot on this show, and you showed me wow voice kind of sorry.
Mhm you really showed may have deep in my voice there a little bit of when a little deep, little, little high You showed me a classic card from back back in the day.
I want to say you said you were about 10.
90 So we're talking 1990.
We're, you know, we're into the nineties.
Um, yeah, I I got to say it was pretty.
It was pretty awesome.
There was quite the heavy duty are big time line up on there and, like, you know, again we're talking 1990 And, uh, you know, I'm looking at this list and we have a rare of cation Where Bobby the brain Heenan actually wrestled.
He was He was in a match, which which was pretty incredible.
I so I didn't even bring that up to you, But I saw that I was like, wow, Okay.
It was Yeah, it was supposed to be he against the big boss man.
And, of course, you know, pain and brought out even just brought out the barbarian and just hid behind him and went around the whole time.
You know, I think that I think the boss man ended up getting his hands on him like in the last, giving him a good shot and knocking him through the ropes.
But it really wasn't a match between the boss man and Keenan.
But Bobby was a true pro.
And anybody that's been to the old House shows if anybody in that's listening is, you know, old like me and you went to the old House shows as a kid.
Um, these shows were not overly packed.
They weren't, you know, just there was a lot of, you know, just like let's put it this way.
There was a reason why these not just weren't on television, but the true performers always sold.
You could tell who really, really loved selling their performance and who was just kind of going through the motions.
Bobby Heenan loved being the top hell in the WWF on, and he just loved it, and he relished it.
He played to the crowd.
It didn't matter if they were 10 people in the crowd or you know, 50,000 in the crowd.
He was gonna play the same way and just the true true professional.
And he was one of my favorites As a kid, I always loved seeing Bobby always loved his humor.
And yeah, it was it was fun.
But going through, that was yeah, just going through, like, old papers last night was actually looking for something.
A piece of, uh, data that I'm using for, ah, charges article that I'm writing for the weekend for a full press.
And I happened to come across a lot of these old, you know, just old photos and old, you know, do***ents exactly.
Like my album cover.
That's why it's there.
That zit and I happen to come across this and I said, Nice is that there is one human being that needs to see this, and that is even He's got to see this right now, so we should make our picks with that in the background.
Just a really calming intro.
It's actually, you know.
Yeah, you know? Yeah.
Yeah. Then he's been He's note.
Then he's note at the end of that song is gonna be at the end of this week and picks and I see how many like a wrong, and I keep falling down that alley site list.
You know? You know, really, it's z gonna be me Z Oh, man, it's funny.
Well, you know, real quick back to that.
So you kind of reminds me of like when I was in middle school and they used to play next.
If anyone is familiar with the band next in the mid nineties R and B song Too close.
Uh, it was certainly to inappropriate for middle schoolers, but, hey, um, they still played it anyways, and then years later, you actually listen to the lyrics and you're like, Hey, wait a minute.
That shouldn't probably be played at a middle school dance, but hey, whatever.
Um no, that that was great, though, because I used to, you know, obviously being being a child who was also born in the eighties, grew up going to these house shows us Well, those were the first shows.
I guess that's how I got into it.
My my grandfather used to take them thio take me to them when they were in Maine because that's where he lived.
And, you know, back in the day, it was, You know, that was New England's a big territory.
I mean, it was one of the original big territories when it comes to, um, you know, professional wrestling before, you know, we know it as what it is today.
And yeah, that was That was great.
There was, uh I know.
It's obviously this was before Marty Geneti, uh, you know, displayed his active power is, um that's right.
Um, they were still together as the rockers.
That was pretty cool.
I don't think I ever saw the rockers live.
I mean, you've got to remember to like I was a little bit younger.
I'm a little bit younger than you.
So go into those early house shows.
I have a much, uh, spotty or memory when it comes to those.
And I don't unfortunately have any cards like that.
I do remember seeing hacksaw Jim Duggan.
E mean, how can you forget the hojo and coming out with the two by four? Uh, you know, when your kid it it looks a whole hell of a lot bigger.
And I'm sure you're still rather short for an adult, so yeah, absolutely built low to the ground.
There's no question about it, but yeah, I mean, going just going through that card and we're bringing back all And then, of course, the warrior and sa***e, you know, headlining it.
And, you know, I mean, that's, you know, you want to talk about two great performers, and I will say this for all the gruff that the warrior got about not selling things and not being into his character.
Hey, always perform well at a house show.
Two. And Sa***e is a consummate professional.
Most of those guys on the car, you got a lot of legends, a lot of Hall of Famers, dusty roads, the heart foundation just going through.
I remember seeing those matchups and and, you know, just remembering, you know, watching all those guys.
So, yeah, brought back, brought back a lot of memories.
That that was pretty good.
I'm glad that I shared that with Yeah, Too bad.
Too bad the iron cheek isn't on this.
Although she e think she could, uh, yeah, I think she was, uh, you know, definitely.
During his his hiatus at that point, without question but hugging and Volkoff again slaughtering Adnan, you know, you're surprised that.
You know, maybe the sheikh is as Colonel Mustafa and his, uh, his other, uh, incarnation.
But, uh, you know, getting a chance to see rhythm and blues.
Greg the Hammer Valentine.
Hockey tongue man. Great stuff.
Really? Uh, good.
Gotta be ready with the honky tonk man.
Well, you know, I was gonna say since we brought up the Iron Sheikh, I'm gonna give you a quick his latest tweet.
We love going through his tweets.
It's one of my favorite things to Dio.
I could sit there and scroll his timeline all day and just laugh his latest one post pandemic Go f yourself.
So you get the idea.
He's quite the character.
Just not, man, that's that's awesome, e I do remember that.
And then seeing that, you know, it was at the time where my dad's able to get, you know, tickets frequently to the civic center, you know, through ah, contact And, you know, and people that I had pretty good seats for these shows And just a couple of months earlier, I e was it a friend of the family? No, actually, no.
It was thrilled. Work contact.
Not every Italian is a lobster.
What kind of work? Mike, you're working garbage to spot.
Okay, a little import export.
What do you important? What do you export? Uh, matches.
Big mattress E man, I wish you I wish you would have said, uh, you only import you don't You know? Or what? Whatever it waas Well, I want to focus on the importing and not so much on the exporting.
You know, the big The big conundrum here is why not do both? Oh, you know, again, if folks once again we have flushed the format here on fbc radio eyes their format is their format, Really? But I mean, but, I mean, you know, the Monday through Thursday we do try to stick at least somewhat.
You know what we do Friday? Forget it. We're just off the real way.
Start with best thing much.
We start with Benny, Mark Jones and his this creepy owed.
You know, peeping on high school girls.
We go into WWF cards from 1990.
Now we're, uh I don't know even where we are.
I don't know what now We're into Seinfeld references.
Well, my theory in my goal for every Friday show.
Long as we can fill whatever it takes for the first half hour to get to our game picks, we'll be all right because we can We can end the show talking about who we think is gonna win for each game.
And that will kind of, you know, that is true.
We will bring it back.
So, yeah, I stand corrected.
Were somewhat, somewhat on point. Exactly.
By the time we're done giving are terrible picks, people will have forgotten about our terrible conversations from the first half of the show.
No, I again, I mean, according to some of our view counts.
You know, people do tend to stick around a little bit, but look, we're getting down to the nitty gritty.
And so here we go.
Here's the transition right here.
This is this is where we make the turn.
Um, we're getting down to the nitty gritty here.
Uh, NFL's winding down.
I mean, again, assuming everything keeps going as planned and everything we've seen so far to suggest that it's not gonna change.
The NFL is gonna be wrapping up the season soon, and we actually have some playoff clinching scenarios.
Wow! All right, Okay.
So that really indicates that we're getting towards the end of the season here, but no surprise cancer.
The Chiefs can clinch the A F C wish West Division with a win and a Vegas loss or a tie and a Las Vegas los eso that z obviously.
I mean, it's no surprise Kansas City can simply clinch a playoff berth with a win.
Not just division, but just ah, playoff berth.
They can clinch.
They have seen North with a win in a Cleveland lost.
Plus, Pittsburgh clinches strict the victory tiebreaker over Cleveland.
So that's Ah, that's pretty big.
Um, and of course, they have several scenarios where they just clinch a playoff berth outright.
And that is a win or tie or Vegas loss of Miami loss or a nd loss or tie.
So, um, a F C East is starting to clear up a little bit, or the A F C in general is starting to clear up a little bit.
New Orleans, in the NFC, can clinch a playoff berth with a win and a Chicago loss or tie um, they can clinch with a tie in a Chicago Los Minnesota laws on a San Francisco loss or tie.
Or Or they can tie with a Chicago loss of Minnesota loss and in Arizona loss or tie.
So, um, yes, we're getting into the complicated scenario season where all these different scenarios get laid out in front of you.
And by the time you're done hearing them all, you have no idea what you just heard, and it's okay because I have no idea what I just read.
Um, but the bottom line is, the best teams in the league right now are getting prepared to clinch their playoff spot.
So any surprise? Is there anything we should you know? Maybe you look forward to this weekend from these teams, Uh, in terms of playoff implications, I think, yeah, you're starting to see what these teams conduce.
You're starting to see what you know might happen.
Um, I'm definitely in terms of games that I'm looking forward to.
Ah, I I'm looking forward to Tuesday's game again with the Dallas and in Baltimore.
I really still want to see what type of Team Baltimore is.
I mean, they keep sputtering.
They've had difficulties being able to stay healthy now with all with Covic.
But is this still a team that's gonna be capable of becoming, Ah, playoff contender? And can they totally off the rails and just completely out of the playoff picture, which would really be, I think, one of the bigger stories of 2020.
I mean, most people, myself included, had this team right up there with Kansas City is one of the top teams in the conference, and they haven't showed it.
Um, Cleveland vs Tennessee.
I think it's gonna be a very interesting game.
Cleveland's been playing well.
A lot of people think that is an anomaly when it comes to their record and that they're really kind of smoke and mirrors.
We're going to see what they're made out of against a very tough Tennessee team that is playing its best football right now.
So that's gonna be an interesting game without any question.
Um, you know, there's there's still some, you know, on the can.
New Orleans continue to be one of the top teams in the NFC, um, against the team, like the Atlanta Falcons, who they know very well.
Intra divisional matchup, second time I think in a couple of weeks these two teams are facing each other, so that ought to be interesting.
And, you know, those those matchups definitely hold some ground in terms of playoff seeding.
And what teams conduce, uh, down the line, of course.
You know, I'm keeping my sharp.
I of course, you know, my my, my my game of the week is gonna be the New England Patriots against the Los Angeles Chargers for a lot of different reasons.
But there are a lot of play.
Office applications for the Patriots here is well, and they keep their dreams alive.
If they win this game, they'll be 500.
And all of a sudden, with teams like Baltimore sputtering a little bit, I mean, do the Patriots get back into this? Do they start to give the fan base a little bit of hope that this could possibly be a playoff team and squeak in? I'm not saying it xgo una happen, but it is possible right now.
So a lot of playoff implications, good weekend slate and those of the games I have my eye on Well, and you know, here's the thing.
We're going to get into our picks here in just a moment, Because way got the halfway point, Mike. We made it.
We made it buddy way.
We can start bringing things back to normal here, but yeah.
I mean, look, there are a lot of interesting games on here, and it starts.
And you know what? Let's just jump right into it, you know? We're going to Ah, we're going to start giving our picks.
We're gonna go down these games one by one.
And you know, the first one on the slate is that saints and Falcons games that you brought up and you're right.
They played two weeks ago.
It was Taysom Hill's first start and the Falcons, or I'm sorry the Saints won that game 24 to 9.
Two weeks later, the Falcons air coming off that big 43 to 6 win over the Raiders.
The Saints beat a quarterback list team in Denver.
Um, you call it an upset if you want, but I'm actually gonna take the Falcons in this game.
I I think you know, for whatever reason, that they just you know, they just weren't ready for that first game against them.
And again, this team is better than there.
Well, I don't know if I don't want to say they're better than the records there.
Certainly playing better than they were earlier in the season.
And I'm talking about the Falcons and, uh, you know, putting 43 points up on the Raiders and holding them only 26 That's a pretty big deal.
And I think some of that momentum carries over because they could look at this and be like, Hey, we can you know, we can play spoiler here and you know who wants to get swept by in a by a division rival.
So I got the I got the Atlanta Falcons in this game with, uh, I I guess you can call it an upset.
But, you know, obviously, if you're starting Taysom Hill, you know, who knows? But Atlanta Falcons taken down the big dogs.
New Orleans Saints.
Yeah, you know what? Right off the bat, I think we're gonna disagree, but yeah, I'm gonna regret this disagreement because I really think you're onto something.
When I submitted my picks to tally site last night, has submitted the new Orleans pick.
This was the one that I almost regret it a little bit because it is their second look at Taysom Hill.
I think maybe in a lot of ways they weren't ready for what he was gonna bring to the table.
I think maybe the Falcons.
Yeah, and I think the Falcons may have been caught a little off guard.
They are coming off of a big win.
They're coming off of a good amount of adrenaline.
Ah, lot of momentum that can carry through.
So I'm sticking with my pick here.
I'm going with the New Orleans Saints.
I still say they win this one, but this is one of them that I got a funny feeling I'm gonna be looking back at on Sunday evening or Monday morning and saying, Yeah, you know what? Maybe I misjudged the Falcons a little bit here.
This is gonna be a lot tougher than people think.
I think it's gonna be a good game on. Okay.
What will you regret? Mawr baking this pick or the first line of your song? First line of myself.
Benny made it to you.
Just two years later and it wouldn't have been so bad.
It really wouldn't be.
Oh, eighties, Right? The eighties E Next, we have Cincinnati at Miami.
Uh, talk about theeighties.
Well, Miami was popping in the eighties for a lot of reasons, but no, look, Dolphins were playing some pretty good football.
They're coming off a pretty tough lost last week.
But you get to Cincinnati Bangles, Joe Burrow less Simpson.
Pretty easy win for the Dolphins.
Uh, I think they went in.
I think they cover the spread, the 11.
5 points that they were given.
No Joe, no dough for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Miami? Definitely, I think, is the better team on both sides of the ball.
Uh, they're looking to rebound.
They're looking to prove that they're still in the playoff hunt, that they want that spot that they're holding onto right now.
Yeah, I think Miami takes this one, and I think they take it by more than a touchdown.
Next we got the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Minnesota Vikings.
Um, another easy one, I think.
Easy pick to make.
And not an easy game.
Well, it could be but Minnesota.
I think it's kind of handle Jacksonville pretty well.
I think Minnesota sort of like the Falcons, but in a I guess in a better way or playing much better than they did to start the season.
And there, right in the thick of things when it comes to the playoff on.
So they're gonna be keeping a, you know, keeping their focus straight and, you know, knowing that they can't lose anymore.
And, uh, yeah, I think they win this one.
Yeah, I think they do, too.
Minnesota's, uh, finding the groove.
I think they're playing much better than they have.
I think this is the type of Minnesota team we thought we would see this year.
Unfortunately, they sputtered out of the gate, and it may end up costing them a playoff spot.
That may not, but it may end up doing that, but they take this one easily.
Jacksonville just not in their league, either on either side of the ball right now.
The next game, I'm gonna pick for both of us, and I'm gonna say we're both picking the Raiders because they're playing the Jets and anyone in the right mind would never pick the Jets to win anything, let alone a football game.
So, no, Once again, every time the Jets game comes up, I quote a good, great friend, Thomas the Murph.
When you're a jet, you're a jet all the way from the first.
Fumbled snapped with last bungled play.
Yeah, we're going with the Raiders here.
Easy, easy peasy.
I'm gonna not finish that because it would not quote from From Shawshank.
That's That's another phrase that probably wouldn't, you know, rarely stick or a stick to well, nowadays.
But next, we have very interesting matchup, but I will say this.
The Colts at the Houston Texans.
Now it's hard to find a quarterback that's playing as well or better than DeShaun Watson.
These last four or five weeks, you check out the numbers.
He's at the top of every lesson, and the eye test says that's true.
I mean, we saw it firsthand watching him playing.
Of course, if you watch football every Sunday and keep a sharp eye on all the games, as they say, you will have seen that Shawn Watson is playing some really good football.
So, uh, you know despite what their records are, I think this is gonna be a pretty close game.
However, however, I do think the Colts are gonna win this.
Um, it's not gonna be easy.
I think this is gonna be a field goal game at best.
But I do think the Colts come out on top.
Yeah, I think the Colts come out on top in this one as well.
Look, I think in a lot of ways Houston is another team that found its groove a little late to Shawn.
Watson is playing at another level.
I think in an alternate universe, you could possibly look at him and say, You know, what, does he really deserve to be the in the M V P discussion? And I'm not saying that he's at the top of that list or that he should get it, but at least get a mention or, too, for what he's been able to do with this team, especially after the way they started.
The reason why the Houston Texans won't win this game is won.
The Texans are gonna be without Will Fuller now and say what you will about will, but he was one of the key cox of that offense.
He was a safety valve.
And a really probably you, uh, Hopkins.
So, I mean, that's that That there you go right there.
But after, you know, with this incarnation of the Houston Texans, if Fuller were in this game and maybe Bradley Roby coming in on a corner, maybe I think they'd give it a little bit.
Mawr of, ah, game on both sides.
But look, India's coming off a bad loss.
Philip Rivers is definitely gonna be motivated to get back out there.
Prove that this cults team still deserves a playoff spot.
And I think that defense is playing at a high level.
So, yeah, I like the colts in this one, and I think they'll take this not going away, But I think they'll take it, buy comfortable a few points.
Um, if it was truly the award, which truly most valuable, which again? I don't think it That is the true essence of what the M V P is.
Sometimes it is, but most of the times, most of the time it's not, I think, to show him Watson would certainly get more consideration.
But it's so hard to, especially when you have so many other good players to seriously consider someone on a team that has a losing record.
And again, it's certainly not because of him.
And, uh, again, it's He's playing really good football.
So this is not a ah matchup of one team at the top of the vision versus one at the bottom.
This is a very close match up between two teams that just happened to have two very different records.
But next we have Tennessee hosting the Cleveland Browns.
Um, they're quite you would think a team that's 83.
It would be especially one that was in Cleveland was would be far more celebrated.
And, uh, you know, across the media, because again, it's Cleveland Browns.
They never went, um, there quietly flying under the radar here a bit.
But I think they're gonna have some trouble here with Tennessee, because I think Tennessee is after a little bit of Ah, guess Hiccup A few weeks ago, cleaning some really good football again, again, who's gonna stop Derrick Henry consistently and, for that matter, a J. Brown.
If you apparently he could just run through defensive backs when he gets catches of football.
So I get Tennessee in this game.
I I think it'll be fairly close.
I think Cleveland will keep it close, and I think they're gonna have a good game.
I just I just think Tennessee is better.
Yeah, I like the way Cleveland's playing.
Kevin Stefanski has done a tremendous job with this team, turning the culture around, turning the players around and actually getting out of the players that he has on the roster, what they're capable of doing.
Imagine that. What a concept.
If only Cleveland had realized this last year, but at the same time, Tennessee right now is peaking.
They're playing very good football on both sides of the ball.
You mentioned defensively how they're playing offensively.
Brown, Derrick Henry continues to be in the the M v p uh, you know, race and with good reason.
I think Tennessee takes this one and again, not going away.
This is not gonna be an easy game for them, because Cleveland will give them a fight.
But in the end, I think Tennessee is the better team on both sides of the ball.
Derrick Henry, 256 attempts.
1257 yards, 12 touchdowns.
He's, uh he's just he's a beast.
I mean, we've seen his high school, uh, highlights, And, uh, he's had a few of those in the NFL that looked pretty similar where he was just running people over.
So, um, next we have the bears dump bears the bears, the Bears hosting the Detroit Lions.
Um e mean, I don't really I look at this game and I'm, you know, there's not really much toe get excited for, you know, both teams.
I, I don't think are anywhere close to come into the playoffs.
But I do have Chicago win in this game.
You know their defense.
I'll give them some credit.
And I think, uh, the Lions air still transitioning without that Patricia, who obviously got the boot this past week.
So which I'm surprised we haven't even mentioned how I think about it.
But we'll, you know, we'll discuss that more detail, I guess, in another time.
But yeah, this is really surprised, actually that we haven't even mentioned bringing that up so or attempted to bring that up.
No, you know what? In a lot of ways, I think that it's refreshing that we haven't, you know, flooded the airwaves with all like expatriots talk and things of that nature.
Look, I mean, it was bound to happen.
I think we both saw the handwriting on the wall.
Whether or not it was going to be mid season or it was gonna be at the end of the year.
I don't think there was any way Matty P was coming back to that team.
Now the talk about him coming back and being a defensive consultant or coordinator for the Patriots is, you know, pretty much Bill Belichick kind of put a foot on that very, very quickly this earlier this week, and I just I didn't see it, to be honest with you.
I mean, who is he going to supplant? He's gonna put his son out of a job Or, you know, or a guy like like Gerard Mayo, who's really, um, you know, working his way up the ranks is being a very, you know, very good defensive coach, even someone who may be considered for a head coaching job in a couple of years.
I just don't see it, You know, Matt may eventually land on his feet.
Somewhere is a defensive coordinator, but I think in his days as a head coach are over.
I think the the cat's out of the bag when it comes to the type of coach he was in Detroit, and it just did not, you know, fester a culture that is conducive to winning.
Ondo, uh, you know, it is what it is at this point.
But this game, the Lions and the Bears, I know Detroit's gonna come out.
They're gonna be, you know, eager to show what they can do.
They want to prove to everyone that Oh, the problem was Matt Patricia, We had the talent on this team to do this.
And what better way to do it than to have Ah very strong game against divisional opponent? The problem is, I just think Chicago's defense is going to be able to shut them down.
I don't really like anything about what Chicago does on the offensive side of the ball, and that's really because of their quarterback situation.
But at the end, I think their defense does enough to get the job done.
So the team that will come out on this victory Sunday for this matchup will be the team that starts with a C and still, you know, has a hick cog in the middle toe beer.
The poets sausage and the Bears will be victorious.
Dica will be a half time.
He'll be on the middle of the field and everything will be good in the city with big shoulders, Stop Bears, Way Dio and a little bit of news surrounding that.
Colts Texans gains That just popped up to four spot, 19 less.
So that's that's pretty big for, obviously, the Colts.
And, uh, you know their defense for sure.
Yeah, moving on.
We have the L. A.
Rams vs the Arizona Cardinals.
Now the Cardinals, as we know, are coming off a tough loss last second loss to our New England Patriots.
Uh, and they've They've sputtered here a little bit since the dramatic Hail Mary victory Hail Murray victory from a few weeks ago, and his brief stint in the M V P conversation has has kind of gone away.
And that's that.
You know that's not an indictment of Kyler Murray.
This team is young and I think we all expected them toe go through their hiccups.
I think they come back and they get a big win this week.
Uh, these teams are fairly close.
Six and 57 and four, both fighting for kind of that second spot in the division And, of course, fighting for you know that NFC one of those NFC wild card spots.
So I got the Arizona Cardinals winning this one and, uh, tying things up with the Los Angeles Rams.
Very, very interesting.
I'm going with the Rams in this one.
And I say that, uh, the reason being is that I think the New England Patriots, like they do in a lot of cases, have laid a blueprint for being able to confuse and stop Kyler Murray the Patriots through a lot of zero blitz at Kyler on Sunday and it confused him.
It brought him out of his comfort zone, and it made it difficult for him to take on the ball off.
It made it difficult for him to find guys like DeAndre Hopkins.
I think Jalen Ramsey is going to take a page out of what's the fund? Gilmore did try to shadow him, keep him off his game, and Aaron Donald can definitely get after the quarterback if they're going a lot of that zero blitz at him.
So I think l A is a little bit upset about what happened in San Francisco.
I think they come in, try to right the ship.
I have them taking this one.
Maybe just by a field goal, but I think the rams come out on top in this one.
All right, so we're disagreeing some more this week.
Or maybe they're just spread out more because I think we started the last week going like, 10 for 10.
The first, like 10, get, uh, next we got the Giants Gigantes at the Seattle Seahawks.
Um, so, oh, mornings.
Josh Gordon got re and say, that's you know, that's great news.
I mean, obviously we're, you know, fans is in terms of, you know, we we rooting for him to to succeed and everything like that, and, you know, he will be eligible to play the last two games of the season.
But that's good for them.
Won't be out there this week.
However, that's not gonna be a problem.
I think Seattle handles this one pretty easily.
It's the Giants, although I do think the Giants aren't the laughing stock that the Jets are.
But I I just don't think that they're good enough to compete with Seattle team, certainly on offense.
And I think handle this.
I mean, you're missing Danny Dimes in this one.
There's Strike one.
Strike two is you're gonna have to go up against Russell Wilson and an aerial attack with the with the Seattle Seahawks that is dying to prove right now that there's still the contending team that everybody thought they were.
I think they really I think they rally in this one, and I think they beat the Giants comfortably on this one.
But do not sleep on this Giants team folks at full strength with a job Joe Judge has done this year.
Big things on the horizon for Big Blue.
But not in this game.
Seattle will get this one done.
No, Yeah, and and that's the thing to were.
We're saying this.
This Giants team has some positive things to take away from the season and, hey, you know, four and seven is a hell of a lot better than what they have been doing.
And there is some hope for the future.
Um, next we have Well, here we go with my friend.
This is this is a you know, we we talk about you used to be bicoastal when it comes to covering teams in the past.
Well, here you go.
Your two teams, the two teams that you hold near and dear one, obviously your own town team.
And when you currently cover and talk about consistently and constantly and the team that you got your you cut your chops with, you got your start with when it comes to editorial duties the well at the time at the time they were the San Diego Chargers.
Now they're the Angel's chargers.
And I've I've once again once again really dropped the ball here because every time I think about the San Diego Chargers, I always start saying, Oh, my God, I should have it ready to go, Ready to run, ready to play.
But alas, I have not, and I have certainly yeah, really, really screwed this one up.
So I'm gonna work on that Mike.
I'm tryingto I'm trying to find the **** clip from the song and I can't like I can't I can't go fair.
Do not worry about it because I'll take up that time.
Yeah, this is definitely one.
I feel like I'm watching two of my Children play against each other, But now I'm kidding, folks, I am kidding.
Look, I loved my time on the charges.
Beat That organization was very good to me.
Good to the cover 32 full profess organizations have nothing but great things to say about the charges from top to bottom.
Hey, I'm New England born.
I'm New England bread and dog gone it.
I'll be New England dead.
And that's how I'm going with this one big couple of problematic matchups that could cause the Patriots problems this weekend.
Obviously, Joey Bosa on defense.
How do you contain him? The basically the way to do it is to get rid of the football.
The too bad *** that Cam Newton had on Sunday were credited to to him.
They weren't credited to the offensive line because camp held the ball on average of 5.
You can't do that, Joey Bosa will eat that alive.
What? The Patriots are gonna have to do is get the ball out of his hands very quickly, utilize play action, not allow.
Boasted to get pressure on the quarterback.
If you could do that, then points can be had against this Chargers team on offense.
What you need to do is you need excuse me on the defense for the Patriots to stop the Chargers offense is contained.
Two guys Austin Heckler and Hunter Henry Hunter Henry is going to get, I think, a trio of of defensive backs covering him this weekend.
My pick is Kyle Duggar, Juwan Williams and maybe even J.
Jackson and Situational Cir***stances.
And Heckler needs a dedicated cover guy on him because he's a very good receiver out of the backfield.
I think Jonathan Jones takes that.
But ultimately, like the Patriots in this 1 27 or 21 I like it. I like it.
We're on the same page on this one.
Next assume we're going to be on the same page, and this one is, well, Green Bay Packers taking on the Philadelphia Eagles.
Um, again, there's really not much to say when it comes. Thio.
Yeah, How did the Eagles make this competitive.
Well, they convince another team to take their spot, and, uh, they play in place of the Eagles.
Because again, I just don't think the Eagles air that good of a team.
They have too many issues, too many injuries, too many questions.
And I think green bass playing some really good football right now.
So Green Bay, uh, Green Bay and four, Right, Zack? Absolutely.
And then Green Bay easily in this one.
Look, Philly just doesn't have what it takes to win this game on either side of the ball.
Uh, their offense right now Carson wins is just not playing good football.
You know, it's it's just it's a lost season for Philly.
I know Philly fans are still hoping for that playoff spot and in the NFC East, who knows? I think the Giants are gonna end up probably taking that division.
But, uh, Philly needs this one in order to keep pace, and I just don't see that happening.
Green Bay takes this one, and I don't think it's close.
Next, we got the Denver Broncos at the Kansas City Chiefs.
Um, I think James win this game.
I don't think it's gonna be a blow out.
I think, you know, assuming Denver, I'm assuming they're gonna have a quarterback this week.
I think they might, you know, keep it relatively close.
It's an inter divisional game, but I do think Kansas City wins this one.
It moves to 11 and one.
Yeah, I don't think there's gonna be a blowout, either.
I think Denver knows Kansas City well.
I think they're capable of playing them at least competitively.
But too much offensive firepower and credit the defense or Kansas City as well that, I think, is gonna be able to disrupt a lot, even no matter who takes the snaps under center for Denver.
Whether it's true luck or whether it's one of his backups, it's just not going to, you know, and pretty.
So, yeah, Chiefs will take this one comfortably.
Not a complete slaughter blowout, but they'll take it comfortably by maybe a touchdown, if not more.
Next we got the football team taking on the 11 Steelers.
We spent some significant time on the Steelers the last couple of days and guess what, Mike, I'm going to do it.
I'm gonna do it I'm gonna pick the Washington football team to have the upset of the weekend knocking off the 11 and oh, Pittsburgh Steelers and yeah, I just Look, I we've talked about where the Steelers are.
They seem like they're vulnerable.
We're not trying to discredit you know them going 11 and oh, but again, I mean, you, you only play the teams that are on your schedule.
However, if if you you want to dive deep into what this team is and who they are, then yes, you do consider who they played.
And it certainly hasn't been the strongest schedule.
And look, I think Washington, for what it's worth, is playing better football right now.
So hey, let's let's see what happens.
And maybe we're talking about an upset after a pretty, pretty rocky couple weeks for the Steelers heading into that Ravens game.
Very, very interesting.
But I like the channeling your inner Vince McMahon showing off the great firms.
But no, I'll tell you it is.
It puts you out there and stranger things have happened.
I did go with Steelers here.
I think ultimately the pass rush gonna be a little bit too much for Alex Smith to overcome.
But ultimately, you know it's gonna take Pittsburgh being able to put points on the board and have some difficulty doing that against the Baltimore Ravens.
So, uh, yeah, this could end up being a lot more interesting than people think.
But ultimately, I think Pittsburgh wins this.
If they're going to get caught in a trap, I think it's gonna be against, like we said yesterday against Buffalo or one of those teams.
Yeah, I go with Pittsburgh but may not be by the blowout people think.
And speaking of Buffalo, they take on San Francisco 40 Niners looking to move Thio nine and three.
Um, I like Buffalo in this game, but I think it's gonna be a pretty tight, low scoring game.
I think San Francisco is still despite their issues, is still a pretty good team.
And Nick Mullins has played some pretty good football and replace a Jimmy Garoppolo.
So, um, yeah, I got I got I got the Buffalo Bills in this one.
Yeah, I got the Buffalo Bills in.
This one is Well, look, San Francisco, I think, is defying odds and defying logic right now with all of the injuries and the problems that they've had still being competitive in every game and then coming out and beating the Rams last week.
But I just think Buffalo is playing well on offense.
They're gonna be able to match them.
Score for score.
I think Buffalo has a slight edge.
Here is well, so I like the Bills in this.
Not a again, not a blowout.
But don't win this, You know, by a few points and well, it'll be more than a field goal and they have it, folks, there's our picks.
And, you know, obviously, we ended up picking the Pittsburgh game, which they play on Monday, But we'll save the Ravens and the Cowboys for them.
Thank you very much for tuning in.
