I'm Samuel Ray is coming to you live here on SportsCastr.
The Second Western Conference semifinal will take place tonight from the Midwest.
It's sporting Kansas City, the one seed hosting the four seed Minnesota United at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
There are fans in attendance at a limited capacity, of course, but there will be at least some atmosphere with a spot in the Western Conference final against Seattle on the line now, Minnesota United have zero wins, zero draws in six losses at Kansas City in all competitions, just one goal scored and 15 goals against.
This has been a place where Minnesota United have had a lot of trouble.
Will that be the same story tonight? Or will the lower seeded Minnesota United embraced the underdog role and pull off the upset? The weather conditions.
A very chilly night in Kansas City.
31 degrees, 74 percent humidity, The wind.
Not much of a factor just blowing at three miles an hour, but the temperature is really, um, the big factor Tonight, a chilly night.
The match officials drew Fisher, the referee Catherine Nesbitt and Peter Mankowski, the A Ours and the fourth official, Victor Areva's It's Edvin.
You're a ceviche Who's working the V A R Room Tonight.
We're set to go, folks.
Five teams remain in the MLS Cup playoffs.
After tonight, we will be down to the Final Four.
With the Eastern Conference final of Columbus and New England already set for Sunday and then Seattle awaiting the winner of this game.
That Western Conference final will take place on Monday.
Well, the stage is set in the 25th season of MLS.
It's getting the spotlight tonight.
Replacing well would have been Thursday Night Football on Fox.
Ravens Cowboys was the Thursday Night Football game ultimately got moved all the way to next Tuesday.
And eso here is It's Fillon and it should not disappoint.
Were underway a game that was originally supposed to take place last night but got moved to Thursday in order to get the national spotlight on Big Fox.
And it's the Western Conference semifinals.
The one V four matchup in this rivalry game sporting Kansas City and Navy going from left to right in this first half, administer united the visitors in all white going from right to left in this opening half.
Thank you for joining the broadcast.
Rick Sporting, Kansas City are the highest remaining seed left in the MLS Cup playoffs.
So if they keep on winning, they'll keep on hosting all the way through MLS Cup, as that's the first foul of the game as it went against yon Greg.
You sh Adrian Heath, the manager of Minnesota United.
It's Peter Vermes in charge of sporting Kansas City to well known coaches in, um Alas, let's get to the starting lives first.
Four. Kansas City.
It's Tim Emilia in goal.
The hero in penalty kicks last round.
Amadou Dia Winston Reid along with Roberto Punch each Jaylin Lindsey in the midfield.
So Shelton, Russell and Espinosa making up the rest of the lineup along with Fernandez.
The good ball over the top and the chip is cleared off the line.
Early on for Sporting Kansas City and rest.
Julian Russell has his hands on his head.
He can't believe he hasn't scored what an early chance.
Quickly to the after this corner kick, I'll get to the Minnesota United lineup, but another good opportunity from the set piece, the header on target but a comfortable routine save for Claire Gold.
The goalie of Minnesota on that long punt will head out of play.
Alright, quickly to the Minnesota line up, as I just mentioned Claire the goalkeeper, the back line consisting of Gaspard Abbasi, box salt and meta near the holding Mids.
Alonso and Gregucci, rest of the midfield made up of Molino right now.
So and Ethan Finlay and then up top.
It's Robin lewd.
What a great little chip over the back line from Espinoza and then Russell, just chipping it over Claire.
And then the clearance headed off the line to keep Sporting KC off the board.
Early on, Sporting Kansas City had that epic when in penalty kicks against San Jose in the opening round.
Both these teams haven't played since last Sunday.
It was really weird how the schedule panned out over a week and a half.
Often, the lead up to this on the ball here is right now, so into the midfield Greg Goose try to retain possession.
It was taken away by Kyrie Shelton and a collision there.
The foul goes against Molino, both players come up in a bit of discomfort.
Well, not a bad start to this game.
Clearly, both teams are ready to go.
Yeah, Molino just came in late, actually injured himself along with Shelton, who is still down for sport in Kansas City, feeling the after effects of that challenge.
Now back up to his feet.
Four minutes played, no score from Kansas City, Kansas, on a chilly 31 degree night in the Midwest, a 7 30 local time kickoff long ball sent forward the header by Amadou Dia bouncing ball in the midfield.
And it's one by Kansas City, the youngster Gianluca Buco, now on the left wing.
Here's a chance.
A nice job there to track back on defense but sporting Kansas City, creating some opportunities Early on, it was just so with the ball forward to buco, and then Buco just slept as he was trying to cross it in the final product.
Not quite there for Sporting KC, but it's been a good start for the number one seed in the Western Conference sporting Kansas City looking for that front three production and as good as they've been, they have struggled on defense.
A bit, allowing three goals against San Jose in the last round and then Minnesota.
They do have the ability to dominate in midfield.
That will be a key.
Their front three have have to be flexible in order to create opportunities.
As that strike, with pace from outside the box was saved by Amelia, and he quickly followed up on the rebounds.
It was Ethan Finlay with the opportunity, both teams with chances in the early stages.
Yeah, thank you, Luke for joining.
Checking away in the midfield by Minnesota.
It was Alonso with E interception.
Now it's sent wide down the right wing.
It's Ethan Finlay.
Finley back for maintain ear.
Now it's right now.
So dancing on the ball here and buco ends up committing the foul sets up a free kick in a dangerous area here for Minnesota United.
Yeah, good soul effort there by right now.
So showing his skill set and, in the end, winning a free kick for his side on set pieces this season, including the playoffs.
Minnesota Five goals scored, Sporting KC four goals conceded, sent in by right now.
So the wall does this job.
Minnesota back with it Alonso for Mets.
And here and now it's all the way back with the keeper Claire Alonso, to Greg ish right now.
So a nice ball forward now out wide with Metta near meant in here in the middle.
Gregucci over to Alonso, Minnesota with some sustained possession here, can they create anything with it? A nice one to their flick by Renault.
So he found, meant a near but his past cut out.
And now, sporting Kansas City, we're gonna take it the other way.
A lot of physical play, no foul called winning The battle was just so Fernandez and Mork contact and no whistle blown on that challenge either in Minnesota have it right back, you know? So over the top and the header one by Winston Reid that will be a foul.
A little too aggressive.
There was met in ear as he caught.
I believe it was Winston Reid in Sporting Kansas City will have a chance to take a breath and I'll have a free kick coming up.
Yeah, this the studs right on.
It was actually Sanchez.
It was really Sanchez who got fouled there.
That's and you will have to be careful going forward or else a yellow card could be coming his way.
Nine minutes played.
Adrian Heath 45 wins, 24 draws in 54 losses with Minnesota.
It hasn't been a smooth ride by any means Minnesota, Minnesota, where a team who struggled greatly, Uh, when they first came into the league as an expansion team.
But they've gotten better and better year by year, and here they are, probably having their best season yet.
In fact, this is their best season yet as a franchise and a chance to really make an impression.
But tonight I'll have to overcome the fact that they've simply been awful in Kansas City in all six games.
Eso we'll see if they could change things tonight. Peter Vermes.
Meanwhile, on the other sideline and his 12th season as the manager of Sporting KC, the longest tenured coach for uh, a single team right now in MLS.
And these days, in really all sports, but especially club soccer, it's It's so hard is the head coach to have have a job for, you know, a decade for sure.
Peter Vermes has been there for a dozen years now, Sporting KC coming off a season where they were just very uncharacteristic and miss the playoffs last year.
But they bounced back in a big way this time around.
The one seed in the West over seven.
It's played nil nil from Children's Mercy Park.
Here's a chance now.
Ethan Finlay on the ball.
Finley to the box cuts it back.
The one timer blocked in the way of the strike was Julian Russell.
It's out for a corner kick and Minnesota United creating some chances of their own.
How about Russell, though? Getting all the way back the captain for Casey getting the block? Yeah, absolutely sprinted back to make this play.
It's a good shot by Finlay to pick out his teammate.
Now here comes the corner kick.
So with the outswinger to the near post headed right back out for another corner kick.
Thanks Frank and Brian for joining here on SportsCastr doesn't mean it's played right.
Also tries again here on the corner kick, so there's a bit more peace.
Shelton there They headed away, let out for a throwing, right? No. So to take.
Actually, he'll end up leaving it for the life back Gaspar.
Since right now.
So now one sec there, too.
Send it up field.
No, it's Kyrie Shelton.
A lot of congestion on that far sideline, but Sporting Kansas City doing well.
Russell will play it forward and just so couldn't control.
Minnesota will work it from the back.
These two teams have.
I think it's you can, you can say formed A.
A rivalry of sorts in MLS.
Not really a new team anymore.
How long have they been in the league? Knows their fourth season? I I think it is.
Seattle awaits the winner of this one.
Now the ball's played out wide.
Here is Metta near mention your into the middle right now, so kept it.
But Molino had his first touch get too far ahead, sweeping in and taking away with Espinosa.
Here comes Sporting KC through ball ahead.
Russell's in on gold save made what a big time play by Claire as he comes up big for Minnesota United.
And that's a golden opportunity for Sporting Kansas City, Minnesota United's defense was all out of sorts in Jirsa was making a run down the left side, but Russell had his eyes on goal and on the goal only and Claire comes up huge office line and making himself big on the corner kick.
It's headed out of the box but not done. R K C.
On this attacking opportunity, Gasper gets beat ball into the back post.
The header is saved.
Did it go over the line? No, it did not.
No word from the referee, and we play on now.
A bouncing ball at the edge of the box.
Espinosa heads and wide Espinosa the corner flag and its last off of Minnesota will be a throwing.
Wow! So another another occasion where Claire comes up. Huge.
But with the stoppage in action, VR is taking a sneak peek to make sure this ball did not cross the line.
Remember, the ball needs to cross the line entirely for it to be a goal.
A quarter hour gone.
And the drama has not been lacking.
This was a great crossing.
And then the header.
Bye **** sec at the back post.
Beautiful delivery on the cross from Jaylin Lindsey.
And Yeah, I think Claire capped it out.
That ball seemed to be right on the line, but it did not appear to fully cross.
Yep, and the check is complete.
Indeed, the young goalkeeper for Minnesota making two big saves.
Here's a chance for juror so, but he's completely mis hit that ball and a goal kick for Minnesota.
Dane ST Clair started Minnesota's last 14 MLS matches, including the playoffs, and he's done phenomenal.
Seven shut outs in that span and just a 70.
86 goals against average.
He's been nothing short of brilliant for Minnesota.
There's a reason the Canadian is starting for Minnesota in this high stakes Western Conference semifinal.
No, I'm saying clear out of his box.
Clears it over the sideline, throwing for Casey, all thrown into the end line, floated into the box bouncing ball boost.
You got to it, but couldn't do anything with it.
Still with it, but that's off of yourself.
Frustrated with himself there, throwing for Minnesota United.
17 minutes played and still no score.
But my goodness, teams, both teams, having opportunities and just not able to capitalize here on the near side with it is messy.
Near the right back from Minnesota, His ball given away Gianluca buco with it.
Lucille, working on Greg Bush, now lays it back for Espinosa, and now it's played wide.
The service into the box lands right into the arms of ST Clair.
Long ball forward reading.
That was Roberto Pun check.
Juicio now running into space.
Well, now slow it down as Finlay caught up to him and a little fortunate there.
Well, his Winston Reid nearly lost it in a very bad area but held onto possession.
And now here comes Buco driving forward.
Boost CEO, the ball forward making the run.
And in the end, being sandwiched between two defenders was Espinosa.
It's now late for Joseph Fernandez.
Fernandez cuts it back.
No one there for Sporting KC in Minnesota.
Able to clear what's going on.
Von, I see you have a new profile pic.
Um, I'm going to watch the Revolution game on Sunday.
Of course, they the MLS scheduled their game when the Patriots play again.
But, yeah, I will be.
I will be watching the Revolution game.
There's no doubt about it.
I can't wait a chance to make MLS Cup.
I cannot be more excited.
Yeah, I'm going to commentate the Revolution game.
And then when the Revolution game ends.
I'll do the rest of the Patriots game, since the Patriots play at 4 25 will be another busy Sunday for me, but very much so.
Looking forward to it, I'm excited and nervous for the Revolution.
Uh, you know, it's been a Cinderella run, and I hope they could go all the way And when. MLS Cup.
There was also a question to a possible handball a moment ago, and I think Sporting Kansas City had a claim.
That right arm was flailing from Ethan Finlay and the ball clearly made contact with the arm.
But VA are deciding it's not a clear and obvious ever.
I did not catch that in real time into space.
This ball laid out why Tom Engineer met in here, cuts it back, but the touch got away from Wood.
Julian Russell was their sporting KC.
Can't clear, though, and now it's Alonso.
His strike blocked by Russell's second attempt, and it's going well wide.
That's the second block shot from Russell tonight.
Boy, is he putting in a shift? Yeah, of course I know Taylor Twellman.
Yep. I used to love watching him play.
He was he played for the Revolution? Um, unfortunately, his career was cut short due to a lot of concussions, But, yeah, he does a great job now.
Commentating the MLS games with Jon Champion on ESPN.
Yep, I've always liked Taylor Twellman.
He was fun to watch with the Revolution back in his playing days, free kick in the midfield, quickly taken by sporting Kansas City.
Russell and his past, taken away by Metta near Greg Goose, will switch it into space on that far side, By the way, Dane saying Claire, the goalkeeper for uh, Minnesota United, who's had two big saves already.
He won a national championship I should mention with the Maryland Terrapins.
Two years ago, he was a standout goalie for Maryland in college and now shining bright in the MLS playoffs.
The kind of Aussie for Minnesota making a second career postseason appearance here on the ball is I'm a new idea.
Do you know the midfield? We've reached the midway point of the opening half.
Plenty of chances here now is Ilia Sanchez.
With it is Winston Reid and now all the way back for Tim Amelia, the hero against San Jose.
Three saves on three shots and the penalty kick shootout to send Sporting KC too.
This round, that's gonna be a free kick.
Foul committed in the midfield.
Down went Russell foul against Gaspar.
Did I listen to the podcast today? Oh, yeah.
The world soccer talk podcast.
Yes, I actually did.
The this afternoon, it was a pretty good episode.
Offsides there for Kansas City Waas? Sure.
So, Fernandez? Yeah, it was.
It was a pretty good episode.
They they talked about a lot of topics that interested me.
Um, yeah, It was a pretty good episode.
It was It was like a little over an hour long and that's offsides.
Read puts it in play for Sporting Kansas City, Both teams still looking to break the deadlock.
It's win or go home.
Single elimination here in the Western Conference semifinals.
In the past, that's off the mark from punch.
It gives a throwing to Minnesota.
You can definitely feel the atmosphere, even though there's a limited amount of fans allowed to watch this one at Children's Mercy Park tonight.
At least there are fans in the crowd for a big game like this.
25 minutes played with it now is read for Sporting KC Read Will Play it wide.
A nice move to create space by Amadou Dia D F Forward Jirsa lays it back for buco buco battling off Greg Bush is passed to flex right to Shelton.
Now it's your so one on one.
Sure so plays it back and it's sent over the bar.
A mi**** there from Espinoza.
Build up play from Sporting Kansas City looking very fluent on the attack.
This was a good luck.
Espinosa just couldn't hit it cleanly.
Just two goals on the year for Espinosa on a chilly night in Kansas City around 30 degrees.
Nice dummy there from Molino.
It opens up space ball forward to Molino.
He's in on goal and he puts it away and the four seed is on the board first.
Kevin Molino gets it by Tim Amelia and we have a goal 27 minutes in.
Well, there were chances for both teams at both ends, back and forth.
Action and this was really well done.
Just let it go for right now.
So and then, right? No.
So, with the ability to pick out Molino the through ball on the money and then, at that point, Molino one on one with Amelia merely a closed in on Molino.
But Molino is not lacking composure one bit as he Conley tucked it past Amelia into the back of the net.
And Minnesota United, who are who have six losses in six games here in Kansas City, have taken the lead at the very place that's haunted them in a way, the collision there as the referee got in the way of a Minnesota player sporting Kansas City looking to take advantage.
But that ball cannot be tracked down by Qatari Shelton.
It's out for a throwing so Molina on the score sheet, and then we'll see what happens.
Now you know what the responses from the Sporting Kansas City team who are expected to win is the one seat the highest seat left in MLS in the MLS playoffs.
Here's the ball in from yourself, tracking back to deal with it.
Was Abbassi now looking to keep it in play? Was DEA.
Well, it did go out in a throwing for Minnesota United about a half hour into this game.
Eso you know 11 wins, two draws and no losses in their last 13 MLS matches.
When scoring first.
That includes the playoffs there.
Last lost when scoring first came on August 10th of 2019, when they lost 53 in an eight goal thriller against Dallas.
11 of the 13 teams that have scored first have advanced in this year's playoffs, by the way.
So that tells you how important that first goal is in Minnesota are the ones who have obtained that opening goal, and we'll see if that goes a long way to deciding their fate tonight.
But still so much time left.
So I'm a new idea why it goes to chair Cell, and that will be a fale right outside the box.
It goes against Ethan Finlay that sets up a good opportunity here for the hosts.
And so here comes the free kick and sending it in with buco.
But off the wall, as that was blocked nicely by, I believe if I'm not mistaken, that was Ryan also.
Yeah, awas supporting Casey can't keep it in play, and that results in a throwing for Minnesota, Minnesota leading one to nothing here on SportsCastr.
Thanks everyone for tuning in.
Speaking of Emmanuel Renault.
So he has eight assists in his last five MLS matches, including the playoffs.
He's had four assists in this postseason alone.
He's been impressive for Minnesota.
There's no denying that Alonso back to box.
A little bit of pressure box all goes down the line, and that's off of Finley.
Thanks for coming back.
I like the name 33rd minute goal from Kevin Molino has been the difference between these two sides thus far.
That's 12 combination would a wide.
It's now in Torino.
So Greg use in the midfield.
Good ball movement here by Minnesota played forward by right now, so clipped in the one time shot right to me. Leah.
It had plenty of power, just not the accuracy loaded with the chance.
But you're seeing the confidence on full display here from Minnesota United.
They're a team that's playing with a lot of confidence, not afraid to take chances going forward, And that's been quite evident through 33 minutes.
Now it's Diego Alonso would trying to flick it forward, for I know so, but not quite what he wanted.
Stolen by sporting Kansas City.
The winner of this game will face Seattle in the Western Conference final on Monday.
If this result held, it would be Seattle hosting the Western Conference final, sporting Kansas City or to come back and win.
Then they host the Western Conference finals.
Now it's meant in here wide, for I know so right now.
So the 12 he gets the return ball, clips it over the top.
Molina with the strike, and he's found the back of the net.
The flag stays down and Molinos grabbed his second of the night.
Wow, A bit of brilliance from Kevin Molino, who's had himself a night so far through 35 minutes and embrace, has put his side up, two to nothing.
And looking at the potential offsides who it looks awfully close, it appears as though he's just in line and just a brilliant finish.
How about the ball clipped forward by right now? So and then Molino, taking that one on the volley over his shoulder.
Ah, great bit of skill and it's two nil.
Minnesota shocking the crowd here in Kansas City and the gold does stand Molino on sides.
His fifth multi goal game in MLS the season.
At one point in the season, he actually scored twice in three consecutive games.
So the skull scoring spree is no surprise from a guy like Malino in Minnesota with a two goal lead.
How about this? Yeah, there is going to be a third tier league anyway for next season.
Yeah, is gonna isn't gonna be called the UEFA conference league or something like that.
Every team now is going to get into a competition.
It's gonna be like the the teams in the in mid table in the Premier League are gonna make that.
It's all about the money.
So you watched all 24 Europa league games today? Wow.
CBS sports are actually gonna have a Europa League golazo chauffeur for the last match day of the Europa League next week.
Eso they're gonna they're gonna do whip around of all 24 games from, like 125 Eastern time, four hours, 12 games in the first slate and then 12 in the second slate.
So that should be cool.
So talk to the ground.
Nothing called and it will be a goal kick.
Thanks everyone for tuning in, and I won't say this is a huge surprise.
But it is a surprise, especially considering how dominant sporting Kansas City have been at home in particular against Minnesota.
Minnesota had no luck here at Children's Mercy Park, yet they found themselves up two nil.
The flag stays down.
Mention near played it forward to Finley.
Dia knocks it away.
They will go out for a corner kick.
You know, Sporting Kansas City were adamantly claiming, well, asking for an offsides.
Finley was offsides, but he did not play the ball.
He just kind of backed away from it.
And that meant to near ticket.
That's why the flag stayed down third corner of the game here for Minnesota night, and we'll see what they can do with it.
It will be rain.
Oh, so to send it in for Minnesota, it's a good delivery in the headers in it's cold number three for Minnesota United and onslaught of goals from the visitors and a nightmare scenario for the hosts.
It's Minnesota United up three nil, and the few away fans that made the trip are absolutely enjoying themselves.
And it's the left center back De Bossi, who's found the back of the net.
Just poor marking by sporting Kansas City in the box, right? No.
So the cross in the bossy getting to it with these and the header placed by Amelia with power.
And what a shock here from Kansas City through 40 minutes.
Minnesota. And they're not slowing down.
Here they come again.
This game could really get out of hand for Sporting KC if they allow another one before the half.
Now here come Kansas City on the attack.
It's wide with buco buco into Gericault after the box.
Espinosa back out.
Why its shares? So in possession one B one here with medicine, ear cheers.
So trying to find a way through this Minnesota defense Eventually Triple team.
But it will be a foul called against Alonzo.
Sets up a free kicking, a good position for our Sporting KC here.
A very impressive first half for Minnesota.
It will be boost co to deliver, and it's eventually are rather initially cleared.
Coming way out is Tim Amelia.
He sends it forward.
It's flicked ahead for Espinosa.
He will keep it in play on that far sideline Espinoza across and there was Alonso.
Tow headed away.
Molino, now forward in Torino.
So plenty of space here.
Greg Yushin stride, taking it forward, taking the shot save made by Amelia and the rebound seemed promising there for a moment, but it could not be collected by lewd and eventually merely I got to it.
That's a heavy challenge by Rhino, so and he will be booked first yellow card of the game.
And with this scoreline, you wonder if Peter Vermes will make some changes at the half.
I expect he will.
We'll have to wait and see with the heroes.
Winston Reid Reid will switch Fields now.
It's with Jaylin Lindsey.
It was Russell, but through ball got past everybody, you know, it's Saint clear with it.
Well, the end of the first half will be so crucial, obviously, sporting KC with a lot of work to dio down by three goals.
But if they can get one back here before the half comes to an end, I will definitely give them a lot of hope.
Peter Vermes, the head coach of Sporting KC, was a 2013 MLS Cup winner with this side.
There are some warm ups. Sorry.
Some players warming up, including her.
Oh, for Kansas City.
Thanks, Isaac, for joining the broadcast.
Played three nil.
Minnesota lead a spot in the Western Conference final On the line.
Here is a steal in a dangerous area.
Minnesota with it.
Why did Finley Finley the strike and getting in the way of it was Roberto punch each and it will set up a corner kick for sport for Minnesota.
Rather, 1/4 goal is what they are seeking.
What do you mean? Yeah, we're still doing the all sports talk show.
What do you mean? It seems like we don't care.
I mean, it's completely up for you.
Here is gray goose, gray goose.
The delivery that one blocked.
And it was offsides anyways.
Yeah, I I don't know if any of you guys have been available.
Um, but yeah, whenever whenever.
Whenever you and Grant are available.
Yeah, I mean, weaken.
All right. Cool.
Yeah, I Grant has been busy.
Yeah, No, I just I just I didn't know if you know, any of you have been available in the in the last couple of weeks.
This is cleared out for a sporting Kansas City throwing.
We're approaching stoppage time.
Grant started the Blake Bortles show.
I think I saw that in the in the group chat. Yeah.
Ah, of course he did.
I'm not surprised.
See how much time is added onto the end of this first half.
The pressure pays off for Sanchez.
That cross was clipped in but immediately headed out of the box by Minnesota.
Now here come Minnesota United.
Driving forward here is meant to near up ahead.
It goes for Lud Minnesota trying to really put this game out of reach before the break.
About 20 seconds to go in the half, now intercepted in the middle of the field by us.
Rather Elia Sanchez boost CEO with it.
Is there one last chance for Sporting Kansas City? It's wide now played forward by juror so into the box and claiming that he was taken down with Hamad Oudea.
But nothing called, and that should do it for the 1st 45 minutes.
And it does so There's the whistle.
Halftime in Kansas City, Kansas and a surprising scoreline It's three nil Sporting Kansas City trailing Minnesota United.
Can the four seed up see the one upset? The one seed? It definitely seems like they are in good position to do so.
Two goals from Alina, one from Dave Basi, all Minnesota in the opening half.
The halftime report.
Stay tuned for that.
It's on the way in this Western Conference semifinal matchup.
Seattle awaiting the winner.
I'll be right back.
And welcome back.
It's the halftime report here on SportsCastr Ah! Three new lead for Minnesota United over Sporting, Kansas City after 45 minutes.
A surprise scoreline.
It does have to be said at Children's Mercy Park.
I hope you guys are enjoying the broadcast.
Here is it's the Western Conference semifinals live on SportsCastr and let's go to the first half.
It started off with a chance early on for Sporting Kansas City.
A little flick over the top and then Russell with the chip, it would be headed off the line.
Ah, goal line clearance.
And, boy, how things would turn after this because it was a good chance.
Early on, the clearance came from Box saw.
Then in the 15th minute.
It would actually be another chance for Minnesota, and this time it would be the young goalkeeper.
Staying clear would come up huge.
A header at the back post by Roberto Pun check.
And he claimed it went over the line.
But it did not state clear with the save on the line.
And then it would be all Minnesota.
From then on, Kevin Molino on the breakaway, tucking it by Amelia.
That would put the visitors up one nil, but the goals would not stop coming after that.
In particular from Molino.
Fast forward to the 30 fifth minute and there would be a second from Molina.
Ah, great little clip into the box by right? No.
So and then a even soup.
Uneven better finish.
A superb finish from Molino.
Just a tough skill on the one time volley ball coming over his shoulder, placing it by Amelia for gold number two.
And then there'd be a third for Minnesota on the corner kick.
The header would be put by Amelia for goal number three, and that is the scoreline.
Minnesota at the break.
The Minnesota Vikings, before this game, tweeting out good luck tonight.
Minnesota United FC there friends in Minnesota wishing them the best of luck and that luck seems to be helping out.
Look at the first half stats.
There were chances for both teams left and right, really, as you look the total shots.
10 9. Minnesota.
The shots on goal.
10 3 Minnesota and the possession slightly in favor of the visitors, 54 to 46%.
So it's not been completely lopsided.
Just been that the case that Minnesota United has taken advantage of their opportunities in sporting Kansas City have not.
Sporting KC had two great chances.
