Welcome to SportsCastr News.
I'm Lawrence 01 with your With your Thursday morning edition going over the weird Wednesday afternoon game of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens.
Now, as many of you know, yeah, that was an interesting game, but it was a game that no one honestly had any kind of frights or, well, I guess unless you were a Steelers fan, Steelers fans obviously watched this game and was kind of freaking out a little bit, especially near the end at the beginning.
Mhm Steelers look awful straight up just awful.
They looked awful throughout this game.
There was a point when Baltimore was winning this game in the first quarter, 7 to 6.
Pittsburgh could not do anything in the red zone once they got inside the 10.
They got one touchdown that was in the fourth quarter.
The other tries three tries they had inside the 10 yard line.
They ended up going for two field goals and, well, nothing.
So they got six points are six whole points on two trips, three trips inside the red zone.
That's that's terrible.
I mean, just awful.
They beat Baltimore, however, 1914, 19 to 14.
Let this sink in.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, who were basically healthy, be a team.
The Baltimore Ravens team without Lamar Jackson without J K.
Dobbins without Mark Andrews without Willie Snead without most of their starters on offensive line without most of their starters on their defense sieve line and linebacking corps guys like, uh, McPhee.
Jude on Elias Campbell.
Guys like that, we're not playing.
And yet they were only able to score 19 points.
That's that's not good.
Now, to be fair, defensively, they did Okay, they did. All right.
Uh, they held Robert Griffin the third Thio to six.
Intent on Lee to completion 77 yards and a touchdown or No, no, I'm sorry.
That was trace McSorley.
McSorley had two completions out of six attempts for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Now, 70 of those yards just went to Markie Brown on a nab salute.
Fantastic plague Right down the sideline after a catch.
Made a guy mess.
No one could catch him.
He kind of made near the end of the run.
Kind of kind of got, uh, it's pat.
Make of its patrick a little turned around in that and did a nice job getting to the end zone.
Uh Griffin, however, was 7 to 12 with only 33 yards and one interception.
The Ravens ran the football.
McSorley, as mentioned earlier, also ran the football.
Three attempts. 16 yards.
Gus Edwards, nine attempts, 10 yards, Not good.
Nine attempts, 35 yards.
The third seven attempts.
68 yards, including one really big, like 37 yard 36 yards.
Something like that.
Right up the middle.
Look look like Robert Griffin, the third of old, obviously the only really big They had no one to really throw to.
Dez Bryant had had an attempt that should have caught the ball.
It was a nice pass by Robert Griffin the third, but he fell down before the ball got to him.
Uh, Devin Duvernay, Justice Hill.
Luke Wilson Thes air guys that they had to throw to.
They couldn't throw the football at all.
The Pittsburgh Steelers.
They wouldn't able to run the ball very well, either.
16 carries for Snell, 60 yards.
It was almost four yards carry 3.8.
Anthony McFarland had 33 carries for nine yards for only three yards are three yard average.
Roethlisberger threw the ball 51 times, 51 times into a teeth.
What was at the time Healthy Steelers passing defense? One touchdown, one interception.
Why? Why were you throwing the football into the health of this defense instead of just running it down Pittsburgh or Baltimore throat? That obviously we're missing some of the biggest players they had in that front. Seven.
Eric Ebron targeted 11 times.
Three of those dropped.
I mean dropped two of them.
He was wide open to big third down conversions.
Eric Eban dropped, but he still caught seven of those balls for 54 yards.
Chase Claypool have a nice, decent game, six catches, 52 yards, and Deontay Johnson also had a couple drops on his own.
He caught the ball eight times out of 11 attempts thrown to him for 46.
Why are we not talking about juju? Smith? Schuster.
Well, he caught the ball eight times on nine targets, but he only got 37 yards.
He got less than five yards per reception.
My goodness, what is wrong with this guy? What happened here? I don't understand.
Schuster fumbled the football Ray.
Ray McCloud fumbled the football.
Dion to Johnson fumbled the football.
Now only one of those rare a McLeod's fumble was lost.
And of course, there was the interception.
Uh, that Robert Griffin the third had and that was I believe that Joe Hayden.
And I'm telling you, I honestly I'm quite impressed with the fact that Baltimore even scored 14 points with this badly as they were moving the football.
Now one of them, obviously, like I said, was an interception.
Um, was it off the turnover? And I'm surprised Baltimore didn't run the football even more than what they actually did.
Pittsburgh Even though they are ranked top right now on the boards, it's because they are 11.
And if you're 11 to know after Week 12, you deserve to be top on the boards.
Even if you ain't playing the best football, not even close.
They have yet to defeat a team that is a decent team, someone with a good winning record like a six and three, or, uh, I'm sorry.
They did beat the Titans.
They did beat the Titans outside of that.
Really, Who we'll see again.
They face the Buffalo Bills again.
And then I think, Week 16, they faced the Indianapolis Colts.
If the coaster healthy, have a decent, decent defensive line, I think the Pittsburgh Steelers we're gonna have to play a good game.
They beat him, but they have yet to show me that they could put together a really dominant game.
They have not done that, really.
Not against a good team.
So let's see if they can do that.
They have a very aggressive defense.
They blitz Ah lot and hope that their secondary could come away with turnovers from those blitzes or forced fumbles from, you know, blitzing the quarterback in this game.
They had some ***.
Uh, TJ Watt had two sacks, one of which he wasn't even touched.
The Ravens didn't even block him.
He went straight in and sack Cameron Heyward also had a sat in this game.
So three sacks by the Pittsburgh Steelers, um, three sacks.
They had no offensive line on the Ravens now granted three sacks in 18 attempts because that's how Maney pass attempts There. Waas.
That's one in six drop backs that's still pretty darn solid.
That's that's not bad.
But Steelers one in six.
That's that's impressive.
My goodness, I'd be like eight sacks on a 40 or, you know, 45 48 day passing attempt day for a normal team.
So, yeah, that that's actually pretty impressive.
But no, I just I don't the Steelers defense I like, but this offense just does not look good.
They were awful on third downs.
Uh, they were awful.
I mean, yeah, they were 42%.
But when it came to a third, doubts that mattered like they had chances, multiple chances to move the football.
And you had wide receivers dropping the football wide open on third down conversions.
Third down in the red zone.
One of like five.
Come on, I just I don't like this.
And then on top of that, this was not exactly early in the game.
They didn't have that many penalties.
The second half, they started piling them up.
Baltimore ended up with seven penalties.
Pittsburgh ended up with five 12 killed into the game, a little high, in my opinion, a little high.
I can't wait to see what happens this upcoming week with both these teams and when they play.
I think they play again Tuesday due to the rescheduling.
That's about to happen here, do everything that's going on.
Uh, Annabelle and Paul and Broncos 19.
Thanks for joining the Stream here on SportsCastr.
I know I'm a hair lake, but I wanted to make sure that I got everything squared away.
Man, I just don't like where the Pittsburgh's looking.
They're winning ugly games, playing ugly.
They're beating bad teams, playing badly.
I want to see you play.
Dominantly just once.
They don't They don't seem to do that now.
One very impressive thing that I did notice from Ben Roethlisberger is he is getting rid of the football a lot faster.
I mean, he's the second least sacked quarterback in the NFL, Uh, right behind what Rivers, and he's getting rid of the football in 2.
That almost that gives almost no time for any defense to get to him.
So he's getting rid of the football quickly.
He should he needs to because, I mean, quite frankly, he's getting their in that age up there with some of these other guys like Rivers, you know, and he's had his share of injuries over his career.
He can't afford any more.
Pittsburgh can't afford anymore.
I mean, I'm sure Steelers fans do not want to see a repeat of last year with Ben Roethlisberger, and they can't afford to have a repeat because of the contract situation.
Um, because of the cap hits that Ben Roethlisberger is hammering down on the Pittsburgh Steelers right now, Uh, let's actually look at his Let's let's go ahead and look at his contract.
All right, now, just give me a moment because I got actually get to it.
But currently Ben Roethlisberger.
It's signed through this year and next year.
Now he has a potential out at the end of this year, but it's still a to 22 a quarter million dollar dead cap hit on that potential out.
If they don't take it before, I believe June 1st, he's a $41 million dead cap hit.
So either way, either way, my goodness, you're looking at out chunk of money coming out.
You're either 41 million or about half that 22 million.
Wow, Now he's Ah, he's a free agent after 20 after 2021.
So that could be, Ah, good.
That could be a good thing for Pittsburgh.
Or it could be a bad thing.
Um, obviously, they don't have his replacement.
Because last year neither of those quarterbacks looked good enough to be a starter in the NFL.
Especially long term.
Neither one of them.
I want to see who Steelers have.
Let's see their schedule coming, and what I got here is next is the Washington football team versus the Steelers? That could be a Washington right now is actually playing incredibly well.
They play Monday.
That's that's Monday night.
Well, not Monday night, Monday at 5 p.
That's a quick turnaround for them, but they're playing the Steelers against Washington, and that's gonna be a fun game to watch.
I think this Washington defensive front gets after gets after quarterbacks.
It does a good job stopping the run, and quite frankly, Alex Smith is out there.
Lighten it up Right now, This is a completely different offense, with Alex Smith back Eric quarterback and he's been shown in the last few weeks.
And then the week after that, they play the Buffalo Bills, who, in my opinion right now, is the second best team in the A F.
C, right behind the Kansas City Chiefs.
I don't have the Steelers, even though they're undefeated as the best team, or even the second best team.
I have them the third best team.
And then I got the Indianapolis Colts the fourth.
And then, um, and then I got Tennessee the fifth.
Yeah, I know Tennessee's got the division, but Tennessee won that game with the Colts not having, uh, they're starting running back half their defense was gone.
No wonder Derrick Henry ran all over and they didn't have the Force Buckner and and all that.
But anyhow, that Z neither here nor there Now they should beat the Bengals.
They should beat the Bengals in week 14, Week 15.
Again, the Colts.
The Colts have all their that they should have all their players off the Kobe list back and their injuries.
They should have their offensive line hole because against the Titans again, they didn't have Anthony Castonzo.
They're they're starting right tackle or their starting center Pro Bowler, Ryan Kelly.
Anthony Castonzo is a Pro Bowler.
Ryan Kelly is a Pro Bowler.
Neither one of them was in there.
I think the Colts beat the Steelers and then the Browns and the Brown.
You could coin flip that game because, you know, one week the Browns looked like the best dig on team in the NFL in the next week, they look like crap.
Now, I don't know.
Uh, last I heard Baker Baker, Mayfield was hurt.
So let me look and see about Baker.
Mayfield because I don't know if he's done for the season or not.
I gotta check that out.
Okay, Kareem Hunt.
And they will actually looking pretty good.
Other than Odell Beckham Jr being, uh, on IR now, their offensive line don't look the best.
That's not a good thing, but at least they still have generic Willis.
But Jack Conklin and tell her and Treader are all banged up.
Yeah, and honesty out of the next five their last five games for Pittsburgh, there's only one of them that should be a guaranteed win.
The rest of them will probably be dogfights for Pittsburgh.
That's just a straight up.
That's how I see it.
What's up? Great Marlborough fan.
Thank you guys for joining the Stream.
No, man, I just even though the Steelers Air 11 and no, I still think there's a third best team in the A F. C.
It's just watching them on the field.
Makes you leave.
Makes you leave wanting MAWR.
Their offense is not very efficient.
Yes, exactly, Ray says.
They're very beatable.
They're much like the 2019 Patriots. Exactly.
They're not dominating bad teams, and they're not beating good teams convincingly.
You have yet to see the Steelers play a solid game against a good, good team.
Like I said, they beat the Titans.
Woo hoo! Big book! All right, The Titans can be up, aren't up and down team.
And if you could get back there and be able to find a way of stopping Derrick Henry, you have a good chance of beating the Titans.
And the Titans came close.
They almost lost the Jacksonville.
The Steelers almost lost the Jacksonville.
That should tell you something right there, right? Yes.
The Colts lost the Jacksonville.
But that was week one.
It was like pre season, Uh, Ben Roethlisberger.
Like I said, Ben Roethlisberger, he's letting that football go quick and that that that is very, very good for this team.
I think they said something like 2.
2 seconds is his average release time.
And with the injury history he's had, they're definitely not going to get a high enough thick to grab someone good as quarterback to replace him because they couldn't replace them next year if they wanted to it.
They didn't want to pay him the $44 million or $41 million but they would.
They end up taking like a $22 million cap hit if they release him.
No, I think I think they'll probably play him next year.
They need him healthy to play next year, and then they could move on from that.
They want or get him mawr of a reasonable contract.
Uh, for what Ben Roethlisberger is providing this team, um, their receivers.
Do you do I think Dion to Johnson's.
Okay, Eric Ebron.
They're hitting this tight end.
He's one of those guys that, uh, actually all these guys, except for juju ever receiver on this team is a hit and miss, they They had the potential for big place.
They also have the potential for big, let downs, dropping wide open passes, fumbling the football, things like that, things that you don't want your guy to do.
There was four different key third down possessions in this game, where the receiver drop the football while he was wide open.
Roethlisberger was passing the ball really well.
Obviously, I mean, through the bulb 50.
Sometimes instead of running it down, running it down the throw of a Ravens defense that was starting practice squad guys instead of Matt Judah on and all of them because they were on co vid.
What? I think the Ravens have a chance toe win out if they could get some of their guys back.
But the problem, because their schedule is way easier than Pittsburgh's way easier.
I think the Steelers could win two to lose two games in the next five.
Just because of the schedule they have.
Well, that doesn't mean that they're gonna lose their revision.
They've got their division a lot.
I mean, they got 11 wins already.
I dont think another team on this and in that division can hit 11 wins, but I don't think they got the first seed locked.
I do not believe that by any means stretch of the imagination, so we'll see soon enough within the next.
We could see a surly as Monday.
Like I said, when they play Washington, that's a game that right now it's like polar opposites of division leaders.
You got the Steelers leading the division undefeated and not playing well at all and looking kind of crap.
And then you've got Washington in the worst division of the NFL, barely hanging on with, like, four winds or something.
They're leading their division, and they look like a team that could beat the Steelers.
My goodness, because they're playing well right now with Alex Smith and the Steelers Lose the Washington.
I'll never let the Steelers fans down.
It's just something you cannot do.
They almost Steelers almost lost to the Dallas Cowboys.
