Zack Smith is getting his camera going, Uh, really good friend of mine, My one of the best co host I've ever had.
Uh, even though I'm wearing a Myles Garrett T shirt and he's wearing Ah, Who are you wearing? Bradshaw.
Does Terry Bradshaw I almost for the Hines Ward jersey.
But I'm like, You know what I need to wear.
Terry, Terry has been good luck this year.
Yeah, And before we go any further, we would like Thio.
Thank car, bro loading, uh, for the 10 tickets you tipped us as well as K C D.

We've got it on I heart radio.
Uh oh, my goodness.
I heart radio zap now.
Spotify were on there and right here on SportsCastr.
Oh, yeah, Right here, SportsCastr.
We're trying to get into doing a couple of more streams.
So plenty of ways to listen in on us.
New episodes coming out Wednesday mornings And now Friday mornings, the Wednesday show being about professional sports and then Friday, being about college athletics.
Yeah, this is what we were.
We We want to get more into this.
Both Zack and I are still in school at Bowling Green right now, So trying to get through this a little bit Mawr trying to work through schedules, but we're excited to do this and we're gonna jump right into it.
We're actually going to start in our nation's capital as Washington football team, taking on the Cincinnati Bengals, and we're not gonna talk about this because it's a big game.
We're gonna talk about it because of one man and then the sportsmanship of three men in this game.
He is out with a torrent A C l I believe was the prognosis.
And, uh, he is going to be out for the rest of his season on.
And honestly, because that's the only reason he's not gonna win NFL Rookie of the Year.
Now I still think he should with the numbers he put up.
But you have other players like Justin Herbert and Chase Claypool out there that, as of right now, we're gonna have a full season.
Yeah, and again our prayers go out to Joe Burrow.
Um, coming into the league is a rookie.
He's leading one of the best passing attacks in football on top 15.
If I remember correctly, he's got a great cast of young receivers.
Hagen's Tyler Boyd A. J. Green.
Still, John Ross is still with the team.
Joe Mixon has been a little hurt.
Giovanni Bernard is still with you, but this is a Bengals team that I feel like I was really starting to click and starting to find its zits spot.
Now the thing that everybody question with the Bengals going into this year was their offensive line, and it turns out that there's reason for concern there.
Eso It's gonna be really important now for the Bangles to continue to build a little bit.
Um, we'll be starting to look here at team needs here really soon as the draft gets closer and closer.
I mean, it's November, the draft down until April, Um, but at least on my end, I think we're going to do something with mock drafts or something that at extent.
But the Bengals, as many needs, they have this.
This offenses started to click, and that's the real unfortunate part of Joe Burrow.
Suddenly not being in the pictures that you can't see a full 17 weeks season with him, Um, but I think you've got a good enough sample size.
I do agree, though, that that kind of takes him out of rookie offensive rookie of the Year.
Herbert's been playing really, really well, but I think what's going to really hurt him is the fact that when it comes down to the line, he's not gonna be able Thio stack up against some of these other offensive players.
Chase Claypool looks really good.
He is now second all time in total touchdowns as a rookie behind a guy by the name of Randy Moss.
I don't know if you've ever heard of him.
Or at least that was a graphic I saw on Twitter today.
Um, so Claypool's got to be up there.
There's quite a that could be in this conversation for offensive rookie of the year.
Joe Burrow was the front runner, and now, unfortunately, due to injury, that's gonna happen.
And you mentioned the three guys, the three gentlemen that you talked about, that would be Chase Young, Dwayne Haskins and Mr Terry MacLaurin.
Now what do those three players have in common with Joe Burrow? Well, they all played at the Ohio State University along with Joe Burrow, before Borough became a Bayou Bengal and then a Cincinnati Bengal.
He was in Ohio State, Buckeye.
He is in Ohio State, Bucky Buckeye.
He has a degree from the university, and really, it just shows that anyone from that program, the scarlet and gray, is in your blood.
And it doesn't matter if you transferred out.
It doesn't matter if you want a Heisman in a national championship in the SEC.
What matters is those guys were a band of brothers.
What, in their time in Columbus, did you happen to see the quote by Terry McLaurin? I do.
I just can't remember what it was.
So basically, I cannot quote it word for word.
But he said, no matter what Jersey you wear or what happens that block zero or the block Oh is still on your chest, Theo being the O for Ohio State.
So there's a lot still to unpack with this game is this was a really fun game to watch Alex Smith getting his first win back after not playing for almost a year, his second start since that time.
Should have had a win last week against Detroit.
Gets one this week, Um, but three players from the other team going and giving their condolences to Joe Burrow.
That was really big of them.
Um, so again, we look forward to Joe Burrows recovery.
But if you really need to look at these Bangles team now, this Bengal steam wasn't gonna do a lot to begin with this here on for as unbeknownst to everybody, I mean, Washington is still gonna be in the playoff hunt for right now because the NFC East sucks.
But, um, the Cincinnati Bengals, this was a year where you get the look and see what you've got.
Um, I still sit here, and I think a J.
Green needs to go.
I think he's gonna cost you a little too much.
He's the veteran presence you want in that locker room.
But Tyler Boyd has really steps up this year.
Yeah, he really has.
I go back to the second game between the Bengals and the Browns.
He was giving the Browns defense. Um, fits.
Tyler Boyd has been playing really, really well anti Higgins to you've got to really just respect what both of these guys of doing.
So you got a nice young core group of receivers you just paid Joe Mix, and the talent is gonna be around.
Joe Burrow that this Bangles team and you and I have mentioned it multiple times this year.
This is a Bengals team that's gonna be competing in the North here very soon.
Unfortunately, you have the two juggernauts of the Ravens and the Steelers.
The Browns were having a fantastic year way are now, but for now, let hey good things is the first time since 2007 the Browns have had seven, uh, like seven wins in the 1st 10 weeks of the season.
So 1st 10 games they played, I should say, you know, the last time you were is dominant as you are right now was back in the year of 1999.
Do you know who was coaching your team in 99? Bill Belichick? Yeah, just some guy known as Bill Belichick.
Nobody, Nobody special.
Not like he's 16 Super Bowl rings or anything like that.
But we'll get back to this game real quick.
You mentioned Alex Smith.
He didn't have a he didn't have the best game, but he didn't have a bad game, 6 17 to 2566 yards and a touchdown and Joe Burrow before he went down 22 of 34 203 and a touchdown.
But really, this was a good quarterback game.
The football team just has a little bit more depth than the Bengals do right now, especially on the old line.
And that's how, uh, Washington was able to get it done.
I keep wanting to call them by their old mascot.
Here's the thing that I love about Alex Smith, all right, and what he's brought to the table on, why they went to Smith over Haskins and why I think Haskins is done in Washington when you're looking at the quarterback position, especially as you're getting older and older.
This is the same reason that Philip Rivers went to Indy and Brady went to Tampa Bay.
What you want from a quarterback, especially in the older portions of their career, is consistency.
The thing with young quarterbacks, the young quarterbacks with gun slingers, they're the guys.
We're gonna sit there and make the mistakes and turn over the ball.
If Haskins is the guy, this is the year where he sits and learns behind Alex Smith a little bit.
Alex Smith isn't worried about rehab or trying to walk again.
Now he's playing.
So that's the first thing I still think Haskins is gonna get traded away.
I I feel I feel that's gonna happen to Askins.
But then let's let's turn the narrative a little bit.
Look at Philip Rivers in Indianapolis.
Indianapolis is a legitimate book under right now in the A F. C South.
Why? Because Philip Rivers that brought consistency to the quarterback position, limiting the mistakes and making sure the ball goes forward, not backward.
Tom Brady and Tampa Bay is the exact same way.
Jamis Winston was the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 30 touchdowns, but 30 intersections.
Tom Brady doesn't turn the ball over much.
He does, but he's usually really good about controlling the ball.
And with all the weapons out there, all you need is just not to turn the ball over.
And now, suddenly the same.
The Buccaneers were sitting almost atop the NFC South, so I really like what Alex Smith is done in Washington, and I think it was a great, great move to put him into that starting rotation.
I just I just hope that he's able Thio maintain his healthiness, but I still think that Alex Smith should retire at the end of the season.
So we do a little segment called under reaction or overreaction on our podcast.
Zack, I'm gonna do a little bit different here.
I want your flaming hot take on this and, like I tweeted earlier, were not sponsored by Cheetos.
But we wanna be Frito Lay contact us.
Uh, shameless begging.
Is is the quarterback job in Washington Alex Smith's toe lose going into next season? Yes.
Yes, this is This is a fantastic and an easy, easy take.
Yes, Kyle Allen has played well, but no, he's he's not doing all that hot.
And I mean again, I said this earlier.
This is the worst division in football is the NFC East.
And that's not just a opinion that is, statistically Thean NFC East is the worst division in football history right now.
And in a division like that, this is This is a Washington team that should have still been like about, like, a year or two away.
But you look at how this team has been built.
And now Ron Rivera is here and Ron Rivera is going to go and get his quarterback in the draft.
Whether that be like a tray Lance or a Mac Jones or something like that, Alex Smith is gonna hold on to that job.
I think you're gonna see with Alex Smith a lot of what he did in Kansas City.
And if you remember, he held the starting position his last full year in Kansas City, Patrick Mahomes sat behind in his rookie year, was able to sit there, gain some knowledge learned from a guy all the a couple of years ago and just learn and gain the knowledge that needs.
Thio and the coaching staff turned and said, Thank you very much, Alex, We're gonna trade your way, and we're gonna let Patrick to take the wheel.
I think you're going to see the same thing happened next year.
I think you're going to see Washington drafted quarterback Alex Smith compete for a year.
And yet it going.
If you remember the first year Alex Smith was in Washington, he went six into and then broke his leg.
He was playing really well with Washington, and now Washington has one of the better defense is in football.
There's Front seven is fantastic.
Chase Young Montes sweat.
Ryan Kerrigan is coming towards the end of his career.
That's why you're gonna bring in some linebacking help, maybe go get another corner, maybe a safety to go back there and help Landon Collins or replace Landon Collins.
But Washington's almost there, and it had a division like the NFC East.
You could see Washington thoroughly competing for a solid playoff spot, not just this year, but next year.
This is the job for Alex Smith toe lose or until the rupee is ready to go.
Yeah, and I mean, you look at the Washington football team and on paper, they're a very good team.
The issue is they hit the toughest division in football in the schedule in the A F C North.
Now the Bengals aren't there in the A f C North yet, but Holy cowl next season.
Depending on how things shake out, any of the four teams could end up making a big run in the last few weeks of the season.
Toe win the A F C North next season.
The A F C North is stacking up quite well.
Um, and you and I are going to get into it.
I'm sure about the A F C North here.
Pretty soon, Um, by the way, I threw a really, really hot take last week during our professional sports one.
And I know you know what pot take.
I'm rolling not gonna throw out right now, but I am so confident with this hot take.
I'm so confident with it anyway.
Great game 22 9 was the final score for the Washington game.
And can I just started a small little appreciation plug here for Antonio Gibson, the rookie who is the running back for Washington.
He's having a heck of a year right now.
And on top of it, we we mentioned the defense's starts.
We're not talking about this offense.
This is an offense with Terry McLaurin.
Antonio Gibson's playing really well.
This Chris Simms guy who's their tight end.
You need to go get that solid number two receiver.
You need to keep building that old line and you need a rookie quarterback.
So, Zach, I'm gonna ask you a question.
Are we going Thio Cleveland or Jacksonville next? Ooh, it depends.
Do you want me to rant now or you want me to rant later? We'll do.
You want me to rant now or do you want me to rant later? Well, if I'm looking at the games as in terms of importance, I think we should go. Cleveland next.
Targeting the A f c.
North first. Yeah. We're gonna target the A F C North.
First, we're gonna end with the Ravens game just because I know you and I are gonna So here's the thing.
Zach and I, me being a Browns fan.
Zach, being a Steelers fan, loved to bash on the Ravens.
What? No, never.
No, But we're going to go to Cleveland now in the Browns.
Get a win, Uh, in a game that should not have been as close as it was.
But for the third game in a row in Cleveland, the weather was horrid.
We're talking rain and sleep.
Brown's end up getting the win over the Eagles, 22 17 without Myles Garrett.
But the Browns defense overall had five sacks in two defensive scores, a pick six from Taki Taki and a safety.
And that was really the difference in the game.
If I can throw something out here if it's anybody else under center other than Carson Wentz, the Browns lose that game.
And what I mean by that Carson Wentz is terrible this year, and I wish there was another word I could use for it, and I know you're gonna agree with me on this 100%.
Carson Wentz has been terrible this year.
And is this? Is this what Carson Wentz actually is in the NFL? Or is this just a bad season? Like I don't know, we haven't seen like Baker.
Mayfield, like you and I can both agree.
We have seen streaks of greatness and Baker, Mayfield, especially a few talk like a few perfect passes like the one that People's Jones in the Bengals game that sealed the comeback.
But we have we seen that from Carson Wentz.
They want a Super Bowl with Nick Foles, but I haven't seen enough from Carson Wentz to say he's a franchise quarterback.
Carson Wentz has had one really good season that I can remember where he was.
An M V P conversations and then he heard himself against I want to say the Rams, and that was the year that the Eagles won the Super Bowl behind Nick Foles.
Now I I can't say yes or no whether or not Carson Wentz is a franchise quarterback, and that's really tough with young quarterbacks and I still consider Carson Wentz Ah, young quarterback.
Okay, when I when I think of young quarterbacks, I say five years in the league or less.
Um, you look at guys like Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers.
I'll throw Drew Brees in this conversation, and I'm gonna leave it at that with those five guys.
When they first came into the league, there was controversy among some of them.
Not all of them started right away.
These were all guys that Sattler and Aaron Rodgers sat behind the great Brett Farr for a little while.
Tom Brady was taken in the sixth round.
He sat for a little bit.
Ben Roethlisberger was not the starter right away.
Phillip Rivers was the starter right away, and Drew Brees started with the Chargers and then got traded over to the Saints.
So there's, Ah lot as in terms of young quarterbacks, that takes time to grow and develop.
You say streaks with Baker Mayfield.
There are days where Baker Mayfield looks like the next Tom Brady and their days where Tom Brady or where Baker Mayfield looks like Ryan Leaf.
Um, it's just a sudden lack of consistency and often times with young quarterbacks.
Organizations don't want to sit here and play the waiting game.
There are some quarterbacks where you'll know right away.
Oh, my gosh, this guy's a franchise quarterback and we nailed this pick high five guys.
Then there are quarterbacks where you're like, I don't know.
Look at Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota in the right system.
Those two guys would thrive Josh Rosen in the right system.
He would thrive, But you look at the draft class of some of Josh Allen, Yeah, Josh Allen, Baker, Mayfield, Josh Rosen, Lamar Jackson and Sam Donald off those five.
The Onley to that, I can say, are definite franchise quarterbacks or Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen.
Those are the only two I can say that about.
I think you have to at least say Baker is playing Mawr consistent, and he's the next one in that list of the five.
Oh, for sure, Sam Donald has been way too streaky, and we haven't seen Josh Rosen get a solid chance yet.
Um, but even still Lamar Jackson, if I had to rank the quarterbacks, it's Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, probably Sam Donald and Josh Rosen.
Um, that being said to go back to your Carson Wentz Point, Carson Wentz is got about a year or so left before.
He's gonna really start to look at and be like, Okay, you're done.
He's getting there.
This is an Eagles team that went from winning a Super Bowl to being one of the worst teams in football.
And the Onley reason they're in playoff conversation right now is because they're in the NFC East.
In real quick, there's not gonna be a winner of the NFC East.
There is going to be at least a nine game loser.
They're not getting losers.
They might all be.
No one is coming out of the division with a 500 record.
It's gonna be tough to do so, and I again I'm gonna make the comment again.
If it is any other quarterback under center for the Eagles on Sunday against the Browns.
Other than Carson Wentz, I I think the Eagles win that game.
Um, the defense I know missed Myles Garrett.
The defense stepped up.
The defense did step up, but it missed Myles Garrett because just a pure pressure he brings it's like taking TJ Watt off the Steelers.
Um, the only difference being the rest of the Steelers are D line can make plays.
Whenever Myles Garrett is the havoc maker for Cleveland.
Now the offense continues just to be a run first team, and it's kind of just Hey, we're gonna keep running the ball until you stop us and eventually the Browns.
We're going to run into a team that is going to stop them running the ball.
And those are the games.
Baker Mayfield needs toe win E no.
So since the if you look at Baker Mayfield stat line in the last five games in the loss at Pittsburgh, he threw it 18 times and the win in Cincinnati.
He threw 28 times in the loss against Las Vegas.
He threw it 25 times, 20 against Houston, 22 against Philadelphia.
But in the Bengals game, he threw five touchdowns, toe one interception.
So I want I want to go to the into the quarterback side a little bit more, Baker Mayfield, because I know you know how I feel about this.
But since oh Belle elbow Odell Beckham Jr went out, Baker Mayfield is not thrown an interception.
And here's the thing that I really liked that Kevin Stefanski has done this year with Baker Mayfield.
A lot of teams are saying, Hey, take this ball and throw it over there.
There are not a lot of teams dedicated to the run anymore.
The run is more of, Ah, back burner type thing.
And what the Browns and Kevin Stefanski have done is they put Baker Mayfield on the back burner and said, We're gonna put you in a position where you could be comfortable.
You mentioned that interception.
Odell Beckham is a guy who demands targets, and it's not just because of the fact that he's a big personality.
It's because he deserves targets.
He's a guy that should see, like 12 to 15 a game, but he's going to get the best corner matchup.
That being said, when you're Baker Mayfield and you don't have to force the ball, you don't have to.
And this should be a year where you sit down and say, Baker, look at the decisions you're making out here.
Not only are you making great calls that the reliance of scrimmage giving the ball that shove or to Kareem Hunt, You're also sitting here not forcing passes, and he's using his legs more.
Baker Mayfield vision is then the one thing that I have sat here and scrutinized, and I have no doubt about his accuracy.
I have no doubt about his thorough power.
Sometimes, but it's his vision.
His vision is what concerns me at least, and I would again, I'm gonna get on my home inside a little bit.
Here means Baker's football like you.
It just looks like this season has gotten a lot better.
Yeah, he's thrown like some interceptions, but even in the last three games he's finding his open receivers.
He's finding that kind of safety valve that he has either either in one of his tight ends or with uM oh, why can't I think of his name? Who had the upside? No.
You'll find this tight end, or Landry or even he's not afraid to start running the ball like a few.
A few weeks ago, you and I were talking about how bad are those ribs actually bothering Baker Mayfield? Now he looks like a completely different quarterback than he did five games ago.
That yeah, and again I made the comment and I'm going to stick by it eventually, you're going to see a team that is gonna figure in the Brown strategy out.
And it's It's taken a little bit for the Ravens, but teams air finally figuring out Baltimore on the Marc Jackson.
Eventually, it's gonna come down to Can we stop the run? And no, no team in the A F C.
North is perfect, Not a one.
The Steelers are the best team in football, but they're not perfect at all.
The Steelers rely a lot on the past.
They need to run the ball more.
The Browns are the exact opposite.
They're gonna Baker.
Mayfield is going to need to be able to make plays against a good team, not saying Cincinnati is not a good team, but they're still rebuilding.
Cleveland still has to go and play Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
I don't know the rest of their schedule, but I know Pittsburgh and Baltimore both on that list.
I don't know what Pittsburgh team you're gonna see, because it depends on where the team stands at Week 17.
But you're gonna get a Baltimore that's desperate.
Baltimore has to beat Cleveland and I think it's gonna come down to who can be more effective on both sides of the ball, and I do like Baker Mayfield.
I think he's gotten a lot better this year.
I agree, but obviously I'm not going to sit here and scrutinize them, because the in recent weeks, it hasn't been about Baker Mayfield, and that's what I loved about it.
It's not the Baker Mayfield show.
This is the Cleveland Browns moving the ball on offense show, and that's what I liked about it.
Mayfield doesn't get scrutinized when he doesn't get put in the spotlight, and I think that's something that Kevin Stefanski has really done a good job of.
My one complaint on the Browns offense right now is for the second straight week, they did not score on offensive touchdown until the fourth quarter in the I.
I will say Baker has never played in weather like this in Cleveland until this year, but that cannot be the case come Week 17 and was most likely gonna be an ice bowl against the Steelers.
I'd agree with that.
You gotta be, um, or aggressive, Um and yeah, you can settle for field goals or whatever the case may be, but you got to be able to put touchdowns on the board and and again for the third time.
If it's anybody but Carson Wentz playing the Browns, lose that game.
If that's Dak Prescott pushing the ball down your throat, you're losing that game.
Dak Prescott and aggressive quarterback, if you're going up against maybe even Daniel Jones would even put Daniel Jones potentially in that category.
In that offense, any quarterback that is aggressive enough and will push the ball down your throat.
That's how you lose games.
That's how the Browns have lost the three games they have this year.
You look at the three teams that they've lost two.
They lost to the Ravens week one because they ran it down your throat and we're aggressive.
The Steelers exact same way.
They kept pushing and pushing and pushing the Raiders.
And those three games where you lose.
All right, the Cleveland Browns have scored a combined 19 points every other game this season.
You're putting up solid numbers, but the past couple of games you just haven't scored a touchdown early on and you got to set the tone.
This is not gonna look good if they have to go up against solid competition.
You have to go to Nashville, play the Ravens in Baltimore and play this play the Ravens in Cleveland and the Steelers in Cleveland.
Three of your last six games are against potential playoff teams, and I'm genuinely scared for the Browns in those games.
I believe it's already been announced that Myles Garrett will not be on the field against the Jaguars this week.
Uh, I'm not that part I'm not too worried about.
Jacksonville is a team that could be sneaky good, though, but this is a statement game for the Browns Coming up.
This is a game where you need to win the game by three touchdowns.
I don't think the Browns have won a game by three touchdowns all season by even two touchdowns.
No, they've they've kept.
They've won a couple of them by that score.
They won against Washington, 34 20.
Uh, they want they won against the Cowboys, 49 38 the Colts game 32 23.
Um, but no, they all these games were really close.
And, yeah, that's a good thing.
But at the same time, Derrick Henry is gonna run this ball down your throat pretty soon, Lamar Jackson and this running game of Baltimore is one of the best in the NFL, and Pittsburgh will find a way to attack you.
That's all I'm saying.
You know, you got to be more aggressive on offense and, yeah, that's awesome to run the ball.
But what happens when Baker Mayfield is turned to and saying, Hey, you gotta throw four touchdowns in this game or we're gonna lose it so hot.
Take on this one, Zach, Do the Browns make the playoffs? I don't know.
I look at their schedule and I'm gonna be kind of honest about it.
The Jaguars game.
I don't see any reason you don't win in Jacksonville.
It's kind of a not a bent team.
It's kind of ah, busted up team a little bit after Pittsburgh just played them.
So that the Jaguars game you should win.
So eight and three, you're gonna go to Nashville.
Hopefully, Myles Garrett can play.
Hopefully, um, but I I gotta wait and see what this team really could do.
Um and then we're gonna eventually have to go through tighten the Titans.
I'm gonna say Tennessee wins that game.
So you're looking at about eight and four record, um, Then comes Baltimore.
Baltimore is the game that I circle on this on this Browns schedule Now.
The Ravens were gonna be playing desperation ball at that point in time.
They're not playing that well right now.
They're six and four right now, and they have to play Pittsburgh on Thanksgiving in a couple of days.
I don't know if Baltimore wins that game, especially with J. K.
Dobbins and Mark Ingram both testing positive for 19 today.
So I'm looking at a Ravens team that's going to go up against the Browns team a game or two ahead of them and say, Okay, you'd We gotta win this game.
It's in Cleveland.
It's gonna be helpful.
That's the eight o'clock game on the 14th of December, but I think the Browns can push through it.
That's the game that I can't give a win to anybody right now.
You should win the Jets.
So you're looking at three wins.
So you're sitting at nine and four or 10 and four.
Um, and then if Pittsburgh is ableto have like a 15 or one record or 15.
And yeah, 14 and once record going into that game locked up the one seed you might see event a Steelers team with backups so that those two games I can't sit here and say, but a 10 and four Brown's team, you're gonna be in the mix for it.
Although you remember 2007 when the Browns finished 10 and six and missed the playoffs, That's why I'm saying I can't I can't say yes or no to the Browns right now, because the A F C North or not, the A F C North, the FC has suddenly become very competitive.
You're looking at the Colts through the Titans and what the Colts and Titans will both make the playoffs.
So one of those teams would be a wildcard seed.
You're looking at the Browns and Ravens fighting for a spot, so one of those two teams will get it, and then Miami, I think, is gonna sneak in there Miami or Oakland or Vegas.
Excuse me? You've got four teams fighting for three spots.
I don't know, and as I said, I'd be circling that game on the calendar, the 14th of December.
Baltimore at Cleveland and see what team that Cleveland Browns team is going to be at that point in time.
So we'll move on from the Browns now on.
Zach will go to your Pittsburgh Steelers, who would just a thorough dismantling of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and I don't even know why they call their stadium anymore.
It's been so many different things.
C I a bank field.
So let's just take a look at this one now.
This is a matchup of a playoff game a few years ago, isn't it? When the Jacksonville Jaguars upset the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh behind a great day out of Leonard Fournette the visual round, if I remember correctly, I think so, too.
But it started off with a Chase McLaughlin field goal, and that was all the points in the first quarter.
And then Pittsburgh just scores 27 unanswered and Ben Roethlisberger for an old guy.
He does pretty well.
Two touchdowns, one interception, 267 yards and Jake Luton, four interceptions.
You're not gonna win a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with four interceptions.
I don't care who you are.
I don't care if you're Tom Brady in the best Patriots team he ever had.
If Tom Brady threw four interceptions against the Steelers, they're gonna sealers.
You're gonna win that game this game.
It was a lot of things that I want to preface something, and it's something that I've started to see circulate through, uh, some media that I look at and even some people through ESPN.
I think you gotta insert Ben Roethlisberger potentially in an M V P Candidate situation.
And no, he's not going to be not behind guys like Mahomes, Josh Allen, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers.
But you've got at least start putting him in that conversation.
Look at what this team looked like last year.
It this time versus right now.
The Steelers finished last year, ate and ate the Onley couple of pieces.
That you really added to this team was Eric Ebron and Chase Claypool.
Those were the only two really big names that the Steelers added this off season.
You lost Devin Busch.
You lost Javon Hargrave, toe free agency with Philadelphia, and the Steelers team is 10.
And oh, as I mentioned, the Steelers team is not perfect, Not at all.
The problem with the Steelers is they don't run the ball all that much, and it's It's not good.
Yeah, Roethlisberger's throwing at 46 times a game, but he's working on a surgically repaired elbow.
I don't know about you, but I don't think that that's gonna be all that good of, you know, a scenario.
I think the Steelers need to get better at running the football.
Other than that, you know this defense is dangerous.
They lead the league and not just interceptions, but sacks.
You look at this offensive line there.
There's are starting left tackle Alejandro Villanueva has yet to give up a sack this year, 10 games in, and he has not given up a sack of the left tackle position I knocked on.
What about that? This old line is still really solid.
The wide receivers look good.
Juju is playing himself into a contract next year.
Chase Claypool is a legit rookie of the year candidate Deontay Johnson and his second year looks good.
Ebron looks good.
If the Steelers thing get this run game going, I I don't know.
I don't know about the Steelers team.
The Steelers team could be very dangerous, but a 27 to 3 rout of the Jaguars is exactly what I expected out of this week.
Yeah, I really did, too, And you mentioned Big Ben should be an M v p conversations.
I I I agree to a point, but he's my comeback player of the year by far.
Oh, yeah, I've been having saying that all year, and I agree that he's not going to get the M v P.
But he could at least be put into conversations.
He's been playing consistently.
He doesn't throw many interceptions Onley five on the season, 2 24 touchdowns and three of those interceptions.
Just to put that into perspective, three of those were against the Titans.
So the the Steelers team is good.
They're not perfect.
They a little bit of a tough stretch coming up themselves, and the Steelers could lock up a playoff spot Week 12.
So this week at the Steelers win in both Vegas and Miami loose.
That's the That's the clinching right now.
If the Steelers win and the Raiders and the Dolphins lose, the Steelers will lock up the first playoff spot this year, Steelers, on their docket, have to go and play the Ravens in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
They have to play the Washington football team in Pittsburgh next week.
They have to then go to Buffalo, which should be a tough game, but a good one.
They have to then go to the Cincinnati to the Bangles without Joe Burrow and then verse the Colts and at the Browns.
So kind of interesting schedule.
Yeah, it's an interesting schedule.
It's got a few maybe trapped games in there.
But you would have to imagine the Steelers were trying to go 16.
No, actually, they're not.
They're not Ben Roethlisberger after the game on Sunday, said, And I quote, we don't care about going 16 and, oh, we care about Lombardi's.
The Steelers don't give a rat's patootie about going 16.
And, oh, I'm keeping this PG folks.
PG The Steelers want to win a Super Bowl.
The Steelers team is primed to win a Super Bowl, and I'm so tired of everybody turning and saying that the chiefs of the best teams still in the FC because they're not, they're not by any means and if you look at the games they've played this year, they were down for a good portion of the Raiders game last night.
They were down for against the Panthers for quite a little while to Yes, Mahomes is able to get Winds when he needs to.
But this defense is not playing well.
And that is the reason why the Chiefs are not the best team in the NFL, not because of their offense.
Their offense is dynamite, but that that defense forget about it.
That defense is gonna get shredded by somebody at some point and just putting this into perspective.
I've never been more excited for a Brown Steelers match up in my life than I am weak. 17.
That's that's a game that should be flexed to Sunday Night Football.
Well, it's It's gonna be a game that it depends on what Steelers team we see in you and I will be together on that game January 1st or January 3rd, one o'clock, circle that calendar date.
You and me will be together at some point.
Well, it it might be your coming to Iowa.
If I get this job, we'll see.
Even if I'm texting you and saying, Hey, look, score right now.
But then that's a game that's gonna be important.
And the F C North looks good.
The A F C North.
If it wasn't for the NFC West to be the most competitive division in football and the Steelers air pushing away from the Browns, they've got a two game lead.
I just I think it's, too, because we have high breaker three.
So three Browns have seven wins.
Plus, right now, the Steelers at the tiebreaker.
So I want to say either three or 3.5.
I don't know how that math works, so that's that.
And then the Ravens.
With the Steelers winning on Thursday, the Ravens have no opportunity to win the A F C North like I've done the calculations myself.
If the Steelers were toe lose out after Thursday and the Ravens were toe win out after Thursday, there's no possible way that the Baltimore Ravens win the A F C North unless the brand and the Browns went out and give when the A. F C North.
Well, I'm just saying the Steelers can still win it, but the Ravens cannot.
And that's what super important about this game on Thursday, which again now is without two of the starting running backs for Baltimore.
This is This is going to be an interesting game Thursday night.
Thursday Night Football on Thanksgiving just hits different.
First off, at least when you're not watching the Cowboys or the Lions, this is gonna This is gonna be a good game, prime time.
And speaking of the Baltimore team that I cannot stand at all over time lost to the Titans before we go to the Ravens, Can I throw take at you? Yes, always.
You've You've been throwing them at me.
I wanna throw in it you because I'm not gonna throw my bias out there.
So here's my my question for you.
Are the Steelers the team to beat in the NFL, not the A F C.
The NFL are the Steelers Super Bowl champions this year.
Right now, Yes, no other team has shown me the Steelers, and as much as it pains me to say it, you know how much this pains me to say it? Zack thes Steelers are the clear and concise number one team in the NFL.
And if the season ended today, they would be Super Bowl champions like there's you wouldn't even over Kansas City, New Orleans, Green Bay.
I just don't see it.
I don't see any team beating the Steelers if they keep playing the way they've been playing.
Of course, this is 2020 and everything I said could be irrelevant tomorrow.
But we'll hope not.
But it's The Steelers are far like Oh, not the Steelers Air, the Ohio State Buckeyes and everyone else in the NFL right now.
Yeah, are the Youngstown State Penguins Youngstown State Great program in FCS great program.
Nowhere near on the same level is the Buckeyes.
That's how I'm looking at this.
And I look at the rest of the NFL and I promise is gonna be the last.
I say all these other teams have shown serious flaws.
And again, I I said this statement.
No team in the A F C. North is perfect.
The Steelers run game is not all that good.
The Steelers need to be able to put up more points in the game, of course, but you look at all the games they've played this year.
They played against some really tough opponents.
I broke Cleveland in that mix.
You look at the games they played.
They've answered every question they've come out of every game on top.
They have found a way toe win.
And, yes, you can argue the same thing with Kansas City.
But again, Kansas City has shown major holes.
And you know that, you know, like flex tape commercials, where it's just slapping a piece of tape on a boat that you've got a whole into Phil Swift, its's.
You see all these holes on here that this team has Patrick Mahomes and you slap Patrick Mahomes, and there any magically can fix it.
There's gonna be a whole still in that boat and canned Patrick Mahomes.
No, he can't. He's a quarterback.
He's gotta be ableto sit for a little bit.
Yeah, he scored a touchdown in a minute, but the Raiders broke coverage last night.
That should have been a game that went into overtime.
That's not a game that the chief should have win, and Andy Reid knows that Andy Reid has played in a couple of really close games this year.
And you know, I look at it this way too.
Whoever holds that number one seed in the A f.
Going into the playoffs is gonna have a huge advantage.
Not only the extra week, but everybody else has to play somebody, e think.
Because who else? Who else in the NFL right now could get close to that or in the A F.
C can get close to that.
Pittsburgh? Yeah, It's only Kansas City, isn't it? So Kansas City is a game back.
Um, if I if I'm looking at everything correctly and I'm gonna need just a second here, Yeah, Kansas City is at nine and one.
Yeah, so give me just a second right now.
So as in terms of teams fighting for that one seed, Pittsburgh has it right now with the season were to end today, um, which is pretty good, actually.
Um, but the Kansas City Chiefs, or nine and one every other team Indiana Air in the A F C.
Is still technically in contention for it.
Buffalo seven and three, Indy seven and three.
Kind of C seven and three, Cleveland seven and three Baltimore in Vegas or six and four, as is Miami.
Realistically speaking, you're probably looking at, like two other teams, probably a buffalo.
And then whoever wins Indy versus Tennessee next week will be in contention for it.
But you know that that magic number is ticking.
It's a ticking number.
Week 11 is this week. Right now.
Week 12 starts technically tomorrow.
So you got me 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17.
Six games in about 3 to 4.
That one seed starts becoming impossible to reach for certain teams, so it'll be interesting to see.
But whoever has that one seeds got a huge advantage.
If the season were to end right now, Kansas City would be taking on Vegas again.
Toe move on in the postseason in Arrowhead, where, uh, Oakland or Vegas one week five.
Mm, so that one see this uber beneficial this year And I'm looking forward to seeing what all happens, but I'm I don't know.
I I agree with your take, though I do think the Steelers are the best team in the in football right now.
Um and I don't I don't think that many people are all that close to being right there, too.
Now we'll go to Baltimore and everyone knew this was gonna be a close game.
But I did not think that the Ravens had a realistic chance to win this game.
They're not playing well as they did at all last season and the beginning of this season.
And really until, until that Kansas City game, they haven't played at the same level or since that Kansas City game.
And it was a fairly back and forth game.
Justin Tucker got a field goal to tie it up a 24.
Then Derrick Henry calls game with 5 21 left in overtime toe.
End it this thing, this Baltimore defense.
I think it might be a bit vulnerable.
The Ravens have lost three of their last four.
The win was at Indianapolis against the Colts, 24 to 10.
If you want to go back to the last five games, we didn't do that.
They beat Philly in Philly by two, the last dominating when that they had, from beginning to end that they had was against Cincinnati in Baltimore, where they won 27 to 3.
They then they won 32 28 against Philly, got derailed by Pittsburgh in Baltimore, 28 24.
Lost or beat in the 24 10, then lost at New England, 23 17 and lost like at home versus the Titans, 32 24.
The Ravens, very similarly to the Browns of a super easy schedule the rest of the year.
They should hypothetically be able to win at least three of their last four games.
You have to go and play Dallas, Jacksonville, the Giants, Cincinnati.
Those four should be wins If you're a playoff contender, the game against Cleveland is where I circle that and I agree with you that there's defense is starting to look a little vulnerable.
And it's a lot for these points.
8 points against 30th.
By the way, everyone, let's give it up for Zach's roommate.
Let's give it up.
I can't see who that is.
We live streaming it, by the way.
So they got the little shake.
Come work this guy again.
We're live stream for something.
E just said, Did he just almost walk in front of the camera about any clothes on? That scared me for a second.
Meanwhile, while Zach is muted, we're good.
We're good for God.
I think the Ravens are a third place team with makeup right now.
You know, my my hot hot take.
I'm I want to reveal the take.
This is going at the beginning of the video that we're going to get ready for Wednesday morning.
The podcast? Yeah, the Baltimore Ravens come week 17.
Yeah, they might win it, but come playoff time, the Baltimore Ravens will not be in the playoffs.
And if you don't believe me, look at their game film the last couple of weeks.
Now, if Baltimore beats Cleveland, Baltimore will make it in.
Cleveland has to win that game.
Here's the thing or has not been playing well, Here's my other thing.
The Browns front seven have looked the best.
I've seen them in years in the last two games that only that being said, Yeah, both teams they played got back into it at the end, but with a healthy Myles Garrett.
This is an old line for Baltimore that needs to be on notice.
That's gonna be the biggest game in the A.
North outside of anything else that battle for second place.
That battle for probably one of the last playoff spots, is going to be the biggest game in the A F C North this year.
And here's my I don't think the Ravens can handle the Browns right now, the way they're playing right now with Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb back, and the way some of the receivers have been playing for Cleveland, I don't think the Ravens can handle the Browns.
I I want to throw this smaller rejection in there.
I don't think the Ravens can handle the Browns.
If Baker Mayfield pushes the ball more aggressively downfield, which is the next step he needs to take to prove he's a franchise quarterback.
You're the defense has been playing well.
It needs Myles Garrett back again.
It needs Greedy Williams back.
That defensive line for Cleveland is kind of scary.
It's not scary and like, Oh, God, I gotta watch out for these guys.
And can they do stuff this year? They need to get another edge rusher opposite of mile scare.
That's probably the biggest thing I would circle on a need chart for the draft.
Maybe a wide receiver and maybe a safety, but I would definitely put another edge rusher in their first, But you mentioned it already.
Cleveland has not been aggressive pushing the ball down the field early on in games they haven't been against Houston.
That should not have been a game that should not have been a game this past week.
This should not have been a game against Philly.
Yeah, you without Myles Garrett, but Cleveland push the ball.
Baltimore is not going to give you second chances like some of these teams will.
If Cleveland cannot push the ball aggressively downfield, you will not win that game.
And that's the interjection I throw in there.
That that was gonna That's my one kind of Asterix with that Baker. Mayfield.
As much as I think he could be the next franchise quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, really the first since Tim Couch.
He needs to prove that he can play with the big boys and I'm excited.
I want to do something with you really quick.
You and me, we're going to go through the schedule remaining for the A F C North, and I want to know where you and I think these teams are going to stand real quick before we do that.
10. 43 left in the second quarter.
Bucks and Rams tied at seven on Monday Night Football.
So you and I are gonna work together on the Bengals Ravens.
I'm doing the Browns, and you're gonna do Pittsburgh.
Okay, We're gonna try to eradicate bias.
Let's go ahead and start off with the Baltimore Ravens, because I got it up right here.
So and then you and I all kind of just bounce off each other for this.
We're kind of going.
We're going with this on the fly, folks. So sorry about that.
Not sorry races.
We're also not sponsored by recent, but we'd like to be.
Why not? You know.
So Baltimore on Thursday travels to Pittsburgh, the Steel City for an 8 20 Thanksgiving match against the Steelers.
Currently without Mark Ingram and J. K.
Dobbins, sir, because this is against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I'm gonna ask you do Baltimore.
Does Baltimore walk out of Pittsburgh a win richer? No, there's no.
And I know we're trying to keep it.
PG hell will freeze over before the Ravens beat the Steelers this year, let me say it again.
For the people in the back, there will be an ice storm in hell before the Steelers lose to the Baltimore Ravens.
I'm sorry, this is not gonna be a game.
Okay, so Baltimore leaves Pittsburgh six and five to travel to doubt, travel back home to Baltimore to take on the Dallas Cowboys for another 8 20 game on the third of December.
I think I speak for you on this one.
Baltimore wins that game, bounces back.
I think they do win it.
I think it's gonna be a bit closer.
I know like, Yeah, Dallas is injury plagued, but it's not gonna be like a bolo out we saw the week before.
It's gonna be in between that 7 to 14 point mark that, like the two, touched it to score lead.
I do like them in that, and then we'll go to Cleveland Monday Night Football on ESPN, the third primetime game in a row for the Ravens, and I'm gonna go to you who wins in first Energy Stadium.
So this game is tough, alright and I went into the year saying that Baltimore and Pittsburgh would split the Siri's.
I said Pittsburg and Cleveland would split the Siri's, and I said Baltimore and Cleveland would split the Siri's um, the way that everything has panned out, I don't know.
And you and I kind of talked about this already, that Baltimore won't be ableto hand clean handle.
Cleveland If Cleveland is aggressive and if I had to tell you right now, based on what I've seen out of Baker, Mayfield, Baker, Mayfield has not been aggressive pushing this ball down the field now.
Nick Chubb and Cream Hunt have been very, very good running the ball.
But I don't know if I can sit here and tell you that Cleveland can move the ball aggressively against the Browns.
So as of right now, because I I need to see what Cleveland could dio.
I need to see what Cleveland could do.
So if I had to give you an answer right now, I don't know if Cleveland wins this game, and I'm not trying to sit here and say the Browns aren't a good team.
The Browns have been playing very well this year, but you're looking at the Cleveland Browns team Let me look at one thing really quick before I give you this answer.
So right now, According to ESPN s FBI, Baltimore's favorite Cleveland is going to be coming off of a lost to who I assume to be the Titans.
I think the Cleveland Browns lose against Tennessee.
They're gonna then be playing against Baltimore.
They're gonna get eight days to prepare for it.
Um, this is really tough.
Dude, this is the game of the year for Cleveland. Baltimore.
I'm not I'm not even trying to sit here and and sugar coated, you just You don't know.
No, you don't. There again.
I mean, ESPN s FBI says one thing, but looking at the tape on the field, I'm saying a completely different thing.
This defense released in recent weeks has been gashed.
I'm talking on the perspective of the Baltimore Ravens.
Um, and and again, this is gonna be the game that determines the season for Baltimore.
And you look at the Steelers game.
The Steelers game was tough and hard fought, but they lost.
They lost fairly.
The Patriots game.
I think Baltimore wins that.
The weather is any better, But against the Titans, you're just playing injured.
Lamar Jackson needs to be able to throw the ball a little more.
He has under 2000 passing yards right now, but he leads his team in rushing yards at 5.
Um, and especially seeing for me that Baltimore is gonna be coming off of a Sunday night game against the Cowboys.
Um, it hurts to say this right now, but if I had to tell you right now, I think Baltimore beats Cleveland.
If I had to tell you right now, um and that's just again simply because I need to see Cleveland be able to effectively move the ball against the solid team.
And I won't know that until I see the Tennessee game.
Well, we're since we'll move on.
I'm gonna give you my hottest take my hottest of hot takes coming off a loss to the Browns the week prior.
The wheels come off the wagon in Baltimore and they are beaten by the Jaguars.
So what you're telling me is that beating Cleveland No lose to Jackson being beat by the Browns a week before.
I'm saying the Browns are gonna win my heart.
Take Is that that loss to the Browns is gonna be where the wheels come off the wagon.
We're gonna see Jacksonville get a win against Baltimore.
If Cleveland wins that game, Baltimore season is effectively done in my eyes again.
I gotta stick by my words right now.
And I need to wait until Cleveland faces another good team.
The last really good team that Cleveland face was Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh destroyed them, so I I need to see what Tennessee conduce.
Oh, so as of right now I have the Baltimore Ravens at eight and five right now, having beaten the Cowboys and beaten the Browns that lost losing the Pittsburgh on Thanksgiving Jacksonville.
We'll be coming to Baltimore after beating the Browns.
Does Jacksonville lose in Baltimore if the Ravens beat the Browns? No.
So you say that Jacksonville goes into Baltimore and beats Baltimore? Right? But I'm saying that with my hot take is in my disagreement with you.
Got you okay, you got you got it.
So I'm saying the browns beat them, and that's where the wheels come off the wagon.
And then they lose their second straight in this timeto Jacksonville.
I'm not trying to get back into the hole, talking about the Browns Ravens thing.
That's just my hot take on this the rest of this season, all right, so then I'm just readjusting because I'm keeping kind of a little bit of an order to this.
So you would have the Baltimore Ravens at seven and six after Cleveland.
I think that Jacksonville is a win for Baltimore.
Um, you say that the Browns would after losing to the Browns, they would lose to the Jaguars? Correct? Correct.
Then they then they get.
The Jaguars are not the Jaguars, the Giants in Baltimore.
I think this is a win for Baltimore.
Yes, I don't think you can argue that one.
My my argument for why I think they will lose to the Jaguars is because all hopes of the playoffs air basically over in my scenario, where I think the Browns win.
But I don't think even even if they do lose to the Jaguars, I think they bounced back against New York.
Yeah, I I don't see Baltimore losing the Jacksonville in any way, shape or form.
Look, Jacksonville just got dismantled again, and the quarterback situation is not good.
Um, this is a banged up team the corners, air hurt.
Baltimore is gonna be able to move the ball.
Eso 10 and five for me.
Eight and seven right now.
Um, for Jacob, then the Bengals game without Joe Burrow with without borough. I can't.
I cannot give a win toe.
Cincinnati In this situation, I don't even know who the Bengals backup quarterback is.
He played for N. C. State.
I don't think of a different Finley quarterback.
So that would mean that for myself and Jacob, I have Baltimore being an 11 and five team with their won loss being to Pittsburgh for now.
Jacob, you have them at nine. And seven.
Yeah, that's where I would have them.
This is all gonna be re kept on our Smith and sidle podcast on Wednesday.
You can find it on Spotify apple podcasts, Google podcast.
And now I heart radio.
And of course, right here in SportsCastr.
So we were pretty much just hammering the A f c north tonight.
Essentially, we should just do that.
We're not gonna be We're not gonna be able to have time to go anywhere else.
Zach, what do we say we make this a weekly A f C North show.
Why not? Not at this point.
Why not? Classes air basically over.
Let's go to Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Cincinnati.
Then we can move on stuff again.
Cincinnati Going and just taking a brutal loss this past week, losing Mr Joe Burrow again.
Our thoughts are with you there.
We hope that you're able to bounce back.
Yeah, 271 Right now, they play the Giants this week, and I I There is one game on this schedule that I think Cincinnati actually can win.
But I I sit here and I look at the Giants and I cannot give a win to Cincinnati and this one.
You see, I would disagree with you on that.
I think of the remaining games, the only one that they could win would be the New York Giants game and not to skip ahead.
But I think the other winnable game for them would be Week 16 against the Texans.
But I don't think they can beat the Shawn Watson.
So after that Giants game, they go to Miami.
They lose that one.
They to a tongue.
Nebiolo is playing really, really well and on top of it.
This offense is starting to hum for the Miami who is fighting for a playoff spot.
I give that one to Miami. Jacob.
I I don't see any way I can argue that Miami looks good.
My uncle, my Uncle David, was back in the day.
Big Dolphins fan, which is weird because he grew up 30 minutes north of Columbus.
I don't know how he became of Miami Dolphins fan, but there's just no way.
There's no way the Bengals go to Miami and get a win against the Dolphins.
The Dolphins are, Ah, borderline playoff team, so now that pushes us into Dallas.
And this is the game.
I actually think Cincinnati could win.
Um, just it has to do with this defense is defense for Dallas is not good.
So I give the win that week to the Bengals as Dallas comes to visit them in Cincinnati.
Yeah, Joe Burrow is not playing, but that the offense should be able to push against Dallas.
The defense just would have to make a player to see.
I agree with you to a point, but you forget about a little known running back by the name is of Ezekiel Elliott, You and that kind of weather in Cincinnati.
He's going to shine.
I think it's a close game, but I think Dallas is able to pull away with it.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be traveling to town Week 15.
I'm not even arguing that one myself.
I just I didn't want to be the one to say anything about it at the Texan.
Cincinnati goes to Houston.
I agree with your take earlier.
I don't think there's any way to Shawn Watson loses to the Bangles in that game.
But like I said, I think that's one of the quote unquote winnable games in that I just think Watson's too good of a player to lose to a beat up defense of for Cincinnati.
And as Jacob and I said the last one Week 17, Baltimore will be taking on the Bangles in Cincinnati on Ben.
Jacob and I both said that the Baltimore Ravens would win that game to us to keep fighting for their playoff lives.
So you and I both have the Cincinnati Bengals at 3 12 and one to end the year, and I that's respectable for what we thought.
The Bengals We're gonna be this season.
We thought they might be a little bit more competitive.
But now, especially after losing Joe Burrow for the rest of the season, that's nothing.
Toe hang your like.
That's nothing like just droop your heads on like they're gonna be a good team in two years.
We're going to see all four teams going into Week 10 with a chance to win the division in two years, at least, in my opinion, so we'll see what happens later.
But this is just where we're stuck as Bengals has.
This is where Bengals fans are stuck right now.
Do you want Pittsburgh first? You want to do Cleveland first? Let's do Cleveland first.
So, as I kind of said last time, I'm gonna take the lead on the Cleveland one.
I'm gonna let you handle the Pittsburgh Steelers one, and I'll echo my thoughts afterwards.
Um, I'm gonna try just to eliminate a little bit of bias from this, Um, but I'm gonna be very brutally honest with my team because they're they're they're good, but they're not the best.
So this week the Cleveland Browns will be taking on the Jr's down in Jacksonville, Florida again, the Browns coming off of a close win over the Eagles.
I think this is a game where you sit and you kind of use it as a prep game for the Titans, similar to how the Steelers just use it for the prep game against the Ravens.
Um, without Myles Garrett, that's gonna be tough.
But I think you're gonna see Luton back.
They're starting again, so I think that this is an easy win for the Cleveland Browns.
Move it to eight and three.
I'll agree with you on that one, especially if you see the linebackers and the players in the secondary.
This is a game where, yeah, it's Cleveland fans.
We talk about Andrew Sendejo being bad at his job a lot, but this is a game where Sendejo should be ableto like have three chances to intercept the ball himself.
So I I don't agree.
I agree with you.
I should say that the Browns win this game.
The Cleveland Browns will then traveled to Tennessee for two away from first Energy Stadium.
I I give this game to Tennessee.
Um, Derrick Henry has not been stopped by many teams this year.
And when you can stop Derrick Henry, Ryan Tannehill heats up.
Um, you know, and this Brown's defense has got hypothetically get Myles Garrett back in that game, but the secondary is not ready for A J.
Brown and Yahoo Smith.
That being said, I think this is the first game of potentially to that.
Cleveland loses eso I say Cleveland loses in Nashville.
I I can see that I can really see that.
I'm not going to disagree with you.
I am gonna point out, though, that while Myles Garrett is the the guy on the Browns defense, Mac Wilson has been working a lot better.
Talky, talky has been defending a lot better, especially on the run, uh, in Denzel Ward, playing like a Pro Bowler again.
At least in my opinion, I think this is a matchup that could be a lot closer than people expect.
So what do you say? Do you say Tennessee wins or do you say Cleveland wins? I think we might see another overtime game.
I think right now I can't call a winner.
I want to see what both teams doing this next week.
But if you had Thio, who do you take? I had to do this with Baltimore, please.
Here, If you had to give a win right now to somebody who do you give it to Tennessee by a touchdown? All right, That that's unfortunately the back right now.
Yeah, that's unfortunately the pick I have to make.
So I've already given my take on this one.
You've already given your take on yours.
You say that the Cleveland Browns will beat the Baltimore Ravens.
And I said because I had to give an answer right now that the Browns do not beat the Baltimore Ravens right now and then my reasoning, We'll talk just real quick about my reasoning.
Since I do have the Titan them losing to the Titans, this is gonna be the browns of bounce back game.
This is gonna be the game you want.
Like Baker, Mayfield is gonna wake up feeling dangerous.
This is gonna This is gonna be for their playoff lives.
And this ain't gonna be for both of the team's playoff lives.
Like we've said, this is gonna be This might be the best game in the playoff hunt, not just in the A F C North, like this year, but yeah, we both said, I believe the Browns are gonna win.
You believe the Browns are gonna lose, So let's not spend too much time on it.
Since we already talked about it again, I I just want to defend this.
I think it's a game to Brown's could win.
But until I see them against another formidable foe, I cannot do that.
I cannot say that scene that they almost just lost the Philly.
I cannot. I can't.
So we then move on to New York, the Giants and then at the Jets.
So just back to back weeks at Met life, I don't see any way that the Browns lose either of these games.
Stand off of that loss to Baltimore s.
So I'm just gonna throw the double decker at you at the New York football Giants and then at the New York Jets.
Are they both wins or they both lost is what do you say, sir? I think of the two games.
The Giants game is gonna be closer.
Uh, I think the Browns will win both of them.
Uh, we'll have to see if the turf monster rears his ugly head at Met life.
Uh, the game against the Jets.
They're gonna have Sam good Donald seeing ghosts again.
He's gonna be on the ground more times than he is on his feet in this game, especially with the way the defensive line has been playing the last two weeks.
So we go into a Week 17 matchup where I have the Cleveland Browns at 10 and five going into the week.
You have them at an 11 and four pace right now going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who we have not talked about yet.
I'm gonna say mine first, and then I'm gonna give this to you.
I'm gonna play under the assumption that Pittsburgh has lost on Lee one game going into this one, the Kansas City Chiefs have to go and play Tampa Bay and New Orleans still, and I think that they'll lose one of those two games.
I give that Week 17 game to the Cleveland Browns, and I'll tell you why.
First and foremost, Pittsburgh has had the people in Brown's number quite often for the past couple of years.
Even when backups have played, Pittsburgh is still one.
Now Landry Jones is better than Mason.
Rudolph ISS Landry Jones has gone Mason's office in there now, going into Week 17, knowing that that first round by is locked up in the Pittsburgh Steelers air close to what they need.
Pittsburgh was gonna rest their starters, but Dupri, TJ Watt, Ben Roethlisberger, juju, Beyonce Johnson.
You're going to see that you're going to see them sit there.
Stars and Pittsburgh will lose.
Now this is my rebuttal to it.
If Pittsburgh and Kansas City are right there, they're neck and neck and Pittsburgh's gotta win to get it.
Pittsburgh is going to go and they're gonna play and they're gonna win that game.
Um, angry Pittsburgh Steelers team and a team that knows they need to do something against the Browns.
We'll win that game, but I'm working under the assumption that Pittsburgh is gonna lose potentially one of their last couple of games and Cleveland will win it and finish 11 and five.
I like the 11 and five mark for the Browns.
Um, I think the I think the way they win this game is either.
If they just show up and just come firing out of the gate, we'll have to see if fans are allowed in the stadium at that point.
As you know, Ohio's coverted numbers air spiking.
We've had two counties go into the purple Alert system, which in Ohio it's the highest level.
Eso like we talked about it when we did our college podcast.
There were no fans in the Horseshoe for the Buckeyes game.
We'll talk about that on our Friday's show about of how much that might have affected the Buckeyes.
But I think that could hurt the Browns if they don't have anyone in the dog pound.
That being said, if the Browns are part of the of the Steelers rest their starters in Mason, Rudolph starts a quarterback.
I think the Browns rest Myles Garrett, okay, and I I don't think anything would happen, but we're getting back to the good old, the good old like eighties Brown sealers rivalry.
I'm really excited for it, but you can't even you cannot do anything to jeopardize losing Myles Garrett, Week 17, especially if you are looking to make a postseason run.
If it's a playoff game, against the Steelers.
Or if the Browns need toe win to get into the playoffs.
Yeah, he'll play.
But if the Browns have basically have a wild card spot locked up in Mason, Rudolph is starting for the Steelers.
I don't think we're going to see Myles Garrett play, but on the flip side of the coin and I wanna ask you this question.
Pittsburgh starters play that game.
Who wins that game? This isn't backups.
This isn't Mason, Rudolph and Jalen Samuels.
This is Ben Roethlisberger, juju James Connor.
Everybody who wins that game at the Starters play.
I just want that opinion.
If the starters play, it's a It's a field goal game for the brands, and I only give them that advantage because playing at home and they are most likely going to need toe win to stay in the playoffs.
And this is the Browns have not been in the playoffs since 2002.
They're going to do everything in their power to make it this year, and if that means beating Pittsburgh, it's gonna happen.
So as of right now, I have the Browns going 11 and five.
You have been going at 12 and four, and we we would have to go from there again.
This is assuming that the Pittsburgh Steelers are resting their starters going into that week.
Otherwise, I would put them at like a 10 and six.
So you're looking at about a good the bottom being 10 and six, the ceiling being 12 and four.
I like. I like that.
I like that as well, honestly, as a brown skin.
Yeah, I'd love to see the Browns make the playoffs.
I would be a static with a 10 win season, even if they don't make the playoffs.
We haven't seen a 10 win season in 13 years.
The Browns have had to winning seasons in the past er, since 1999.
Yeah, any winning season, I'll be happy.
I've been saying this going into the year before I turn and even say the Browns or playoff contenders or Super Bowl contenders show me a winning season.
Show me some consistency.
I like this 11 and five mark because I I think it's appropriate for what the Cleveland Browns can accomplish this year again.
I think that there are two games in there that are toss ups And that's the Baltimore game, which is where you and I have differed in our any and in the Pittsburgh game at the very end of year.
Because it depends on a Pittsburgh got something to play for.
So I like that 11 and five and 12 and four record.
And then we'll round it out, heading over to Pittsburgh.
How are the Steelers gonna do to finish it? I'll end up leading this one and the Steelers.
They're sitting pretty at 10., no.
And as much as it pains me to say, they are the best team in the NFL right now, they're gonna be moving to 11.
And, oh, with a thorough dismantling of Baltimore on Thursday night, I like to take, and I'm gonna have to say a couple of reasons why kind of similar to what he did with Cleveland.
First and foremost with Baltimore, they're gonna be playing without J.
Dobbins and Mark Ingram. Or at least that's how it's looking right now.
They have to go through what, three days or four days of Kobe testing? I think it's for If it's for then, there is no possible way that they play this week.
If it's three, then there's a way.
I would need to read into the protocols, but you're looking at potentially going without two of your starting running back.
You still have Mark Ingram or not.
You still have Gus Edwards, and you still have Lamar Jackson.
But this Pittsburgh team figured you out once, and J.
Dobbins was the thing that kept doing that game.
So that's one thing.
Secondly, Pittsburgh starters on defense didn't play all that many snaps against Jacksonville compared two weeks prior.
They did not want to risk injury, So I agree with the take.
I don't think Baltimore walks out of Pittsburgh with a win, especially after the news today of J.
K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram.
Testing positive for Kobe.
So I like 11 and, oh, they'll go on from there to host the Washington football team on Sunday.
Game, and I think we'll both like them 12 right there.
I would agree with that.
Alex Smith has been playing well, but he has not gone up against the past Russia.
The Pittsburgh Steelers 12 No, this comes to my trap game for the Steelers.
The Buffalo Bills in Buffalo on Sunday Night Football.
This is where the Steelers get their first loss of the season as Josh Allen goes and proves that he is an MVP caliber quarterback.
So the Steelers gonna lose the game this year.
I don't know if it's the Buffalo game or if it's the Indianapolis game.
Um, and I don't know.
The reason why I don't think the Steelers lose to the Colts is because the Steelers were going to be in Pittsburgh.
Um, Philip Rivers? Yeah, he's gonna be good, but we don't we don't know.
That might be the game that, you know, clinches it for Pittsburgh that they're gonna be, ah, playoff number one seed.
Um, but But Buffalo.
It depends on what Buffalo we see now.
Buffalo has had some really, really good games lately, most notably the Seattle game.
But this defense has been very, very shaky.
Um, I I like the Steelers losing a game.
I don't know if it's prime time against Buffalo, especially after last year, losing the Buffalo, Um, and it's gonna be without fans because Buffalo hasn't had fans all year.
um I'm gonna say that that game Pittsburgh wins, but they'll lose to Indianapolis.
And Oh, right there.
You like 13? You know, I like 12 and one right now.
Make it 13 and one.
Even in Cincinnati.
Taking on the Bengals.
Yeah, we kind of already talked about this.
If Joe Burrow was there, it might be a little bit more of a game, but I I don't know.
I I don't like that game without Joe Burrow.
Yeah, and now we're both at 14 and one.
As you have mentioned.
You think the Steelers will lose to the Colts at home? I think the ceilings will beat the Colts at home.
I think Philip Rivers is a good quarterback, but his entire professional career he has played on the West Coast or in a dome.
I like It's gonna be cold.
It's gonna be windy.
It's gonna be freezing in Pittsburgh on the 27th of December 2 days after Christmas.
This is a game the Steelers won need toe win at home that, like just finish off perfect at home in two.
That could be the game that locks up the number one seed for them again.
The reason why I like the Colts losing or beating the Steelers rather than the Bills is for this reason.
And I think it's because the Colts have the better defense over the Bills on the Colts.
Defense is one of the top five in the NFL.
They've been able to get after the quarterback.
They've been able to get sacks.
They've been able to go and pressure quarterbacks.
Um, now again, this is the dependent of what team we CIA's.
Well, is this gonna be the Indianapolis Colts that almost give the ball back to Green Day and lose it? Or is it gonna be the one that closes out the game? If it's the one that closes out the game, I give this one to Indy.
Um, the Steelers, hypothetically, could go 16.
And oh, that's a very, very possible, uh, in a realistic world.
And in my world, I don't want them Thio, Um, I think 14 and one right here is a very acceptable mark, and especially with myself thinking here that Kansas City will lose to Tampa Bay next week.
The spoiler alert I think Tampa Bay beats Kansas City next week.
We'll have to wait.
Is to need what the New Orleans Saints Dio because that game is gonna be.
I think without Drew Brees is that that's two weeks from now, not three weeks.
I think that might be the game. He could be back.
But don't quote me on that, and I don't think they're gonna rush him back if they're gonna win.
If they win, he has to be on IR for three weeks in his first game back.
That would be his first eligible game back.
The Chiefs and Saints play the 20th of December, but I look at it this way.
The Chiefs could lose that game because Drew Brees is one of the best to do it.
I still think the Buccaneers beat Kansas City because Tom Brady is the best to ever do it.
Um and I look at this game like that.
Um, Indy, I think, wins that game.
I think the Steelers go 14 and one going into that week and then the final game at first Energy Stadium in Cleveland.
We've already had our talks about this.
I have the Browns pulling out a narrow one at the end.
I set a field goal, I believe. Zach.
I think you were along the lines of If starters play, then Pittsburgh wins.
If backups play in Cleveland Winds.
Yeah, that was kind of where I sat.
Depend what Kansas City does.
If Kansas City, going into Week 16 is a is a 14 and one seed themselves or even a 15.
They're not 15 and other material right now because they've already lost the game.
But if they were to be like a 14 and one scene going into that, and if Pittsburgh needs the win to keep that one seed, I could very well see Pittsburgh turn and say, no, We want this one seed and we're starting starters.
Um, but as of now, I think that Pittsburgh is gonna be able to hold the one seed because I don't see, um, Kansas City winning both against Tampa Bay in New Orleans.
Um, I like 14 and two for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I think that's a fantastic place to go.
You lose your last two going into the postseason.
Um, and the lost at Cleveland isn't one against your starters.
It's against your backups and you get that extra week to go in and, you know, get some reps gets, um, preparation for somebody and who knows what you'd see.
So I I like 14 and two for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I think that's perfectly acceptable.
I I think that's gonna be the and record if they lose to someone other than the Browns or what happens.
Uh, I do like 14 and two.
Because remember, the only team to finish a complete undefeated regular and postseason were the Miami Dolphins led by Dan Marino.
Was it Dan Marino? I think so.
It was Dan Marino who is arguably in that candidate for greatest, one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game.
Uh, but then, like we said, the Saints in 09 were the last team to start nine.
And oh, and they lost their last three going into the postseason and Drew Brees brought a Super Bowl home in the first year.
The Superdome was reopened back in 2000 and nine there, the last team to go 10 and oh, and then win a Super Bowl.
They lost their last three games going into the postseason, and I wanna throw that at you.
I have the Steelers using their last two.
New Orleans. Also last three.
So, just to kind of wrap up here, this is my take on the A F C North remaining on the air, finishing at the very last 3 12 and one Cincinnati finishing second in the division.
I'm pretty sure based on tiebreakers.
This is for third right here, but it it's a tie because I have the Browns and Baltimore at 11 and five.
I'm not sure how the tiebreakers would work.
I want to say Baltimore to finish third.
I want to say on Ben Cleveland be 11 and five again.
I'd have to look back at the tiebreakers and everything to that extent and then the Pittsburgh Steelers, winning the division at 14 and to for my good friend Jacob Seidel.
You went 3 12 and one he had and third place in Division Baltimore at nine and seven.
He has the Cleveland Browns finishing second at 12 and four and the Pittsburgh Steelers going 14.
And to really both of these kind of mocks standings, air very doable for the Browns and the Steelers going in.
This is very doable for everybody.
Um, it's kind of a ceiling thing.
I think at most Cincinnati could win another game, maybe two eso maybe finishing the year like 5, 10 and one.
I think that would be fantastic and the goal to aim for be like a look.
Guys, we need to get like, two wins.
Um, then you look at Baltimore.
I think you and I hit the ceiling and the floor right on the nose, um, the ceiling being at 11 and five team and a floor of nine and seven.
And I think we did the same thing for the brands I I think the Browns are kind of similar.
I I think that, like a 10 and six is the absolute floor.
I think that's the absolute floor.
But I think the ceiling for the Browns is 12 and four.
I I still think that week 17 game is what determines a lot.
Um and as I said the last two games that Cleveland has to play against the A F C North.
So at home versus the Ravens and then at home versus Pittsburgh.
That's gonna be tough, but those were gonna be the two games, and those could be the make or break for the Brown season.
We are in for a great end to the NFL season as much as we all hate to see it go.
We haven't heard any plans for the XFL's re launch of their new season with owner Dwayne The Rock Johnson, but we'll keep you updated.
I myself a proud Northeast Ohio D C defenders backer in the x f l.
But we'll keep you posted.
Any final thoughts on our what kind of turned out to be our first A f C North recap show? You know, I look forward to a lot of things, um, going on with the A F C North, the two biggest things that I want to throw out here in my two big things.
One is how much the A F C North is gonna miss Joe Burrow the rest of this year.
I sat there and I'm like Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals could win at least five or six games this year.
That was my opinion going into this year because I think Joe Burrow is a fantastic quarterback.
So again, for the for the umpteenth time that I've said it.
I'm so sorry to hear the A, c l and M C l tears.
And I hope Burrow condemns back from it.
He's a very special player.
Kid from Ohio from Athens went to play in Columbus, didn't get what he needed in Columbus.
Went down to L s U and became the number one pick in the draft.
So again, our our thoughts and prayers out to him our thoughts and prayers, Mr Ohio.
So that's that's the first big thing I want to take away and the second thing I want to take away.
And you and I alluded to this earlier.
How good has been Roethlisberger been this year? He's been really good.
He is the only quarterback in the SEC North to have a passer rating above 100.
The Onley quarterback to do that.
And he's also the only one that hasn't won a Heisman.
Not the all, not the reigning M v P.
Not the number one overall picks, not a Heisman winner.
Better off this burger.
Another Ohio kid just is playing really, really well right now I don't think anybody can come close to comeback player of the year over him.
He has been my comeback player all year, and again, I don't think he'll win the M v P.
But the pure fact.
He's got this team at 10, and no, and he's playing the way he is.
I think he needs to at least get maybe a little recognition for potential M V P candidacy.
Yeah, and I agree with you on that.
You're too big things good, sir.
The Browns have a chance.
So you're saying there's a chance it's an outside shot.
I will be the first to admit that, but they have a chance to the second.
The the Pittsburgh Steelers are as advertised.
Don't sleep on Pittsburgh.
You can't sleep on Pittsburgh and anyone that is still sleeping on Pittsburgh wake up and smell the coffee they are for Riel.
There's a good chance they're gonna win another Super Bowl this year.
Can I make a no overreaction under reaction? Question for you? Why not? We've just been flying by the seat of our pants all night.
Why not? Hey, man.
It's what the viewers like.
If the viewers have questions, pop them in.
The chat will answer them really quick.
So overreaction or under reaction, Ben Roethlisberger will retire at the end of the season after winning a Super Bowl.
That's an under reaction.
If you multiple point question, that's an under reaction.
If he wins it an overreaction if he doesn't mainly because I think if he wins, he's gonna write off into the sunset.
But if he loses, he's gonna want one more chance on the saddle, and then he'll help Kind of raised the new Q B in Pittsburgh for a year because it's not gonna be Mason Rudolph.
I don't think so, either.
I think this is an overreaction regardless, um, but here's the reason why Pittsburgh is gonna need to groom a new to be.
And I don't know if you want to sit there and let Mason Rudolph be the one that grooms him.
Um, if Roethlisberger retires, maybe you turn and bring on.
Roethlisberger is like an assistant.
Matt Canada has been really, really good for the Steelers.
He's the Q B coach.
Um, Josh Jobs has been really good, as in terms of another guy who's been able to sit there and help Ben Roethlisberger had been another set of eyes.
Um, that being said, I almost agree completely with you.
If Roethlisberger wins the Super Bowl, he's done everything he needs to for this city.
For this team, not only does he take back over the lead of franchises with the most Super Bowls, the sealers would be at seven.
They're currently tied at six with the Patriots, but he cement his legacy, and I think that's the biggest thing throughout this burger.
Roberts Burger eats up a lot of cap money right now.
He eats up a lot of it, Um, and once he goes, the team is gonna be able to move on. But I don't.
This job is Roethlisberger's, until he hangs up the Cleans.
If he wins the Super Bowl this year and rides off into the sunset first ballot Hall of Famer.
I think he's the first ballot hall of Famer.
Regardless, he's played that well in his career.
I think that's getting in just about do it for us, Zach.
So let me a cue this up.
