That is Kenley Jansen and just him.
He's the entire bad.
Well, yeah. I mean, there's some good parts of them.
We're gonna talk about that to you.
Some other things we got to talk about.
Yeah, Cody Bellinger is not as good as he once was.
I think he's not terrible, but not terrible.
But any right on August has been pretty bad, but we're gonna get into those numbers for sure.
We gotta talk about beady Joe Kelly, Because dude has been like electric.
We're going to pontificate.
We're gonna prognosticate.
We're gonna look at some of our September call ups and and who we think I'm assuming it is coming up and who we hope doesn't come up.
Plus, they're gonna need to make some roster move for some guys coming up the 60 day D l So I know that and more a keep it on the d l said big words and I don't know I have Oh, I'm oh Jean, I learned.
But first, before we do any that we got to give a shout out to our friends over there in that upper right hand corner.
I think that's right hand for you guys.
This left hand for me.
But they are SportsCastr And at SportsCastr dot com, you can be the star of your own show.
It looked like a pro sound like a pro even be as cool as Brooke, who is allegedly crooked guaranteed care Indeed he is crooked.
So go check out SportsCastr that a sports c a s t art dot com to find out more about it.
But of course, after our stream and even after the game.

Yeah, so watch the stream, then watch the game and men go to SportsCastr and don't cross the streams. Don't crash.
Don't forget, guys.
This is a live show.
So let us know in the comments section where you are representing Dodgers Nation and drinking from we are currently drinking from D N H Q to let us know and maybe you'll get a shout out.
But if you mention Miami, we'll talk about it.
You're gonna get the FAA? Yeah.
So first things first.
Before we get into the the Kenley Jansen talk, we have to figure out what's going on with Max Muncy.
Nothing's been announced yet.
They did say he was at the ballpark today in ah, in Arizona in a and arrest him.
Arrest him, Bob Rhys Holder straighter.
And he is not, um, still not feeling all that well, I guess I guess over their pet go, they didn't have to hot oven X ray machine as well, such as in Boston.
It's a coincidence coincidence that every time the Dodgers were in town, the X ray machines go down for some reason, but yeah.
Apparently they said that he was at months David essays.
When it came out of the month, he was hit in the same spot as Chris Taylor was in Boston.
It didn't look pretty.
The pictures 94 miles per hour on the gun.
And, um, yeah, you know, he's not gonna play.
He's not gonna play for a few days, and that's fine.
We have enough people.
Kiki is gonna back him up.
Ah, c t three's right there.
Of course, we know Gavin Lux can be, um, you know, somebody that makes their way, uh, very, very soon making their way downtown.
Moving fast, indeed.
But, um, what will get more into that? We'll keep an eye on on the Muncie stuff for everybody that's here.
Live everybody on the podcast gonna be like while you guys are wake or way out there.
19 on Twitch says, I'm like Belgian.
You can't defame me.
Should have talked to you earlier in the season.
Man would have known.
We got a couple people checking in.
Oh, USMC from Upland California.
It's not too far from here.
I think that's an L l H t D Mueller for Mexico City with almost a CZ in Mexico.
He's those words.
Yeah, Cools get, uh, Al Leiter lighters that his 18 Los Angeles checking in a periscope.
Not getting that is a a lighter.
Oh, yeah, in Los Angles.
That's what it is.
It's not Los Angeles. He's checking in from any angles.
Miguel Salgado over on Facebook, checking in from 805 Oxnard.
I like that beer. Alright.
Beer? Yeah, about beer.
I'm cool with them. Good with most free beers.
Maura from Adele A time or a Pacific? Oh, food if you're next.
Greg Tucker checking in from Palo, said Ro.
I don't know where that is, but apparently it's in Norco.
Have you heard of Let's go and give him that because he's gradually country.
Yeah, because anywhere nor Cal to a Dodger fan is Giants Country.
I think that's where it goes.
Yeah, it's good.
So the Dodgers is.
The Dodgers were sitting at 88 47 on the year Ah, six and four over the last 10 because I don't know if it's in your mind.
Did we not show up for the Yankees, or did we get overmatched? Uh, it seemed to me that we didn't show up for the Yankees.
And let me let me put, Let me put it this way.
Were overmatched on Friday.
Big time? Yes, big time overmatched on Friday, Saturday, we should not have won that game.
We should have not not won that game Sunday with him.
Standing literally said, It's Sunday when you look at who they were facing, not only as the starter, but in the bullpen members that followed those air.
All guys that should have the doctor should have lit up and they didn't.
Yeah, these are guys that you know, plus four four and 1/2 e r.
Ays guys who on any other team are probably like number five starters at best.
And you, you know, you put up literally hit the very first pitch you see out and then don't score the rest of the game.
So they definitely didn't show up for Sunday.
I'll tell you that right now.
They did not show up on Sunday and I was there and it was hot and it's like yet another game where Brooke me three is there and they lose.
I'm saying if the Dodgers are listening specifically the PR team because I think this is very important to the PR team.
If they're willing to pay me, I will not go to any more games.
And if they pay me to not go to the playoffs, I absolutely will not.
Don't you have friends in the front office now? Yeah, I'm hoping they listen and pay me.
Yeah, that's the thing.
Come on, Montana.
Yeah, teeny as we call it a friend of the show.
The most important thing, I think Happy notes before we get into Kenley before we get into all the other words that I said earlier and that Brooks said earlier, um, Colorado was eliminated from playoff contention yesterday.
Are they supposed to win the West? They were supposed to win the West as we as over here on the pocket on the live side, we ah, we see that a lot of people over there, a lot of pundits as we like to call them a lot of people who are supposed to know what they're talking about.
It over at MLB radio on Sirius X M picked, um, a lot of Colorado Rockies.
They're in that that in a west.
And I don't know where they came up with that.
Why, they're like, Oh, yeah, they're going to be the guys when the Dodgers had kind of sort of over are not reloaded, are overloaded.
But, you know, coming into, um, coming into the 19 season, having picked up Joe Kelly, you look at it.
You're like, OK, this team's a little bit better than 18.
Just barely one.
They need 163 games to win the West.
But ah, yeah, that one.
This is Ah, huge miss.
Including the few people that are like the Rockies air gonna be in the world, Siris or whatever like, yeah, I mean, last year it was kind of a fluke that they had even done as well.
It definitely did not have the pitching staff to make it as far as they did, but they managed offense more than made up for the whole year.
Um, and I think a lot of people thought that would kind of carry over, But eventually you had to know that it wasn't gonna last then they weren't gonna make it.
So, you know, I think they showed their true colors.
And they're not that team.
They're probably not gonna be that team for a long time.
They don't really have great pitching in their minor league systems as well.
So they don't really have a foreseeable future.
Honestly, the Rockies have a great offense. Absolutely.
They also play in Colorado, which helps sometimes they have a great offense.
Yeah, So, I mean, I get kind of why they would think they might do.
Okay, But also, it baffles me that they didn't recognize that that was a fluke here.
So? So a friend of ah, Friend of the show, Eric Joel over there.
Shout out to him for poor, pointing out that kind of bringing up the receipts as the kids do these days like this.
He's so often on the tweeters.
But if you want receipts, you don't have to go very far.
When it comes to Kenley Jansen, Kenley has now tied again.
This isn't This is a new episode.
Got this is episode 75 not Episode 74 times, but we talked about Can we open the show with Kenley? He's tied his career high with seven bones safe So far Down 2019 he had seven in his first full season, closing in 2012.
Um, which is a terrible movie tied for a career high.
Their career high are a 3.
73 You're the one who really enjoyed his wins above replacement as as highlighted by baseball reference, 00 wins above replacement.
You know, that means that Yu Darvish is more valuable than Kenley Jansen.
You know that, right? Yeah.
The guy that everybody hates so much, all the Dodger fans.
That's a hot take.
Yeah, you don't have a more valuable than cleanly Jansen.
I want those exact words.
You could tag Brooke in it.
There you go. It's phenomenal.
But, you know, you talked about it a little bit and you touched on it.
And that way we saw it last night.
He has terrible luck in some scenarios, and that's led to a lot of his bad luck.
He has a 2 89 average.
Yes, on balls in play, Babbitt batting average in play.
He's usually having around like 2 30 or low numbers.
Like for an air quote locked down closer.
He's definitely being Babbitt to death, uh, guests in the pitching way, normally here being Babbitt to death and in the way, like when we the argument and a little bit talk about Cody Bellinger and his perceived struggles, and they're not even received their legitimate struggles.
But, um, I think at wide no, I think I know I posted on Twitter right after it happened.
What are going to be the excuse is this time for Kenley? And sure enough, there are a number of people who didn't see the irony in them.
Tweeting excuses back to me.
One such being that the Fly ball was just out of reach for C. T. Three.
There are some people who are really complaining about the, um, the shift hurting Kenley a lot.
It seems like it's hurt him a little bit more this year.
I don't know a little bit.
That's just the perception in these particular blown saves.
But you know, the Dodgers have have fully employed the shift this year, and it's actually made them what They're 60 70 runs a defensive run saves better than they were last year.
So far, something like that.
So they're very good defensively, and a lot of that is owed to the shift.
So I'm I'm a fan of the shift.
I'm a swell, and I think a big part of it is the fact that he doesn't pitch to the shift, either.
If he knows it's on, he still doesn't pitch you.
He goes to what he thinks is his best pitch and his best option.
And one thing that even the broadcast pointed out.
And I'm not talking about the good broadcast.
I'm talking about the radio broadcast.
They pointed it out.
That's how you know it's Chuck.
Yeah, we appreciate you, Um, Kenley is going a lot more upstairs this year than he's used to.
You know, He lived down in the zone with that cutter, and it is really hard, first of all, to get good contact on a cutter down in the zone.
But second of all, to get any sort of lift on that ball.
But you look at his numbers now.
He's living up in the zone.
He's not his velocities down, which you don't blow it.
Passengers by throwing it up.
That's not gonna happen for you.
If you're sitting 92 you used to sit in 94 probably don't go up in the zone.
And that's why he's getting burned by the balls so much.
And despite that fact, he's still top, too top 2% in the league and hard hit percentage.
He still top 1% in exit velocity, like in the good way of the back in the good way.
Okay, so he is still very good in that sense.
Like if you looked at those two numbers, you would think like, Oh, this is like Mariano Rivera out there.
This guy shut him down This nobody's getting a hit off this guy And, you know, the home runs that he's given up is not the fact that he's giving up home runs.
It's that he's giving them up at the absolute worst possible times.
And that's why you see that wins above replacement, taking such a dive on him.
He's really blows game.
He's really picked like the absolute worst times.
T give up hits, give up.
Homer's whatever it may be throwing wild pitch yesterday, which you know, I mean, Yeah, it's sort of a split wild pitch between, you know, or him being a while.
Picture it being a passed ball, but you know, like when you're back to back two or three feet above your spot above yourself, that's different.
And and, you know, let's let's be realistic.
Russell Martin just pitched the day before.
He's he's not spry in legs or in age anymore.
He's no spring chicken, if you will.
He is not a spring chicken.
We can confirm that.
Yeah, I can confirm that.
He ran away from me twice, so just saying But to to add on to what you're saying and what we talked about last week, you can lease peripherals aren't that bad.
His his ah, his whip is just under 1.
1, which is not good by any means for a closer, but it's not terrible.
1 walks per nine innings isn't the worst.
That's something you see with your kind of high wire act closers fairly often.
But, you know, his his K rate, surprisingly, has gotten.
It's not as terrible as I thought it was gonna be.
If you would think it would be a lot worse.
Yeah, because it really seems like he's not striking out the same amount, but tied for a career high and his hits allowed per nine at nearly eight hits per nine innings.
So that's That's a bit of a struggle.
And to go over to some of the guys, some of you guys over here on the stream.
We got Ron saying he needs to be a setup guy or middle man and I think absolutely agree with that.
He needs some time to get his head right.
It seems to be Ahh bit of more.
I wouldn't say a mental block, but it's definitely mental.
You see him when when runners are on base, whenever runners on base, he's, too.
He's more preoccupied with that.
You see him doing his his stretch and wind up in still looking back at second base while he his arm is down.
He's about to throw home like that's just too much focus on that.
He's not gonna develop a slide step by this point, but yeah, whatever.
Just let him steal, do something like that.
I wasn't a huge fan of the intentional box, but do it if you have to. I don't know.
I'd rather you focus on the task in hand.
Um, we got some other people Laurie saying we need to leave Jansen alone.
Leave us alone. Laurie.
I have every right to talk about him.
Yes, during this.
We don't want to be talking about this.
We would prefer Kenley be right, But it's It's hit a point right now where you know the doctors can't afford the fan base, can't afford Thio to lose 1/3 straight World Series or not even make 1/3 straight World Series.
And Kenley is the biggest question mark on this Dodgers roster right now, Like even with Max Muncy being down, if he's down, you have three dudes, including the top prospect in your system and one of the top 345 in the game.
And Gavin Lux you could plug in and try through all of September.
So you're fine, literally everywhere else.
You're also finding the bullpen and the closers role as long as you're okay.
Not always having to go to Kenley, which seems to be the thing.
Yeah, and that seems like it's going to be the course of action for the playoffs.
Even I don't see it changing at all.
There is this light matter of a guy who's doing very well, though, and that kind of makes you talk because you look at Kenley and how poorly he's done, especially over the past.
It seems like over the past two months, it's just he just has not been good.
And, uh, you know, new.
Maybe maybe one exception against the Yankees.
And even then it was It was walking a rocking high wire, one of the state, by the way.
T kind of continue on with a few of these.
We got Jenny Juno in the streams going on, Johnny saying Russell Martin for closer, you know, a couple points for being a friend of the show.
And for a good take Barnes before Martin.
What on the mound? I think they're saying that Barn Now Barnes should be backing up. Will Smith.
That's been a common theme in the threat so far.
What people look like.
They're saying what you're saying that they're just friends of Brooke Me three.
Yeah, they know a rusty star, says Kenley, Look stressed.
Yeah, he's well, perfect timing as we go.
What was on before? You are in the start of the show.
You know, Kenley was very, very dejected last night after blowing yet another save again his his career tying.
Ah, seventh season high seven.
However, the hell you want to say that.
But, um, you see that? You see the way, um, the season's going.
You see the way he looks in this particular clip, and and you do feel for the guy you know, we feel for the guy.
But it's at a point where three blown saves in August it should be four because everybody said they straight up screwed the pooch.
Don't read too much into that.
That phrase it's it's turn of phrase is old school, But, um, don't screw the pooch is.
But it should have been for cause he did blow that.
Say they shouldn't have called time on on the Saturday game.
But should Dave in the front office really take this due to mental state into consideration? I think at this point, you know, they just, um, Roberts just said, like basically, we're just gonna keep running him out there like we need him.
We're gonna have to rely on him so nothing is gonna change.
We're gonna keep running them out there and see what happens.
And that's basically what they're probably gonna end up doing.
I don't really see them changing it up right now, especially this far into the season.
We got a month left, a month left of of regular season baseball.
So when you think about that, I mean, he looks like he's just gonna have a mental breakdown any minute, like every single time he's out there even and you know it's hard on him.
I know it's hard on him, and I know he feels it as much as he doesn't want to talk to the media about it as much as he wants to, you know, say nothing's changed and he still the same guy just got to be better.
You know, it's hard on him and I think fans, you know, they kind of get it mixed up and they get a little confused when we talk about and we're not talking about him because we don't like and we're not talking about importantly because, you know, we hate him when we want him off the team We love.
Nothing better to do than to have Elite 2017 Kenley Jansen back in the team.
This team can't get anywhere in the playoffs without Kenley.
They absolutely cannot.
And they need that.
They can't rely on being up 10 runs or five runs or whatever it might be on playoff caliber teams during the World Series during the championship series during the division series.
Any of those you need that lock down guy in the ninth, and right now we don't have that.
Any time he goes out there, it's like there's a good chance he pulls this game.
There's a good chance he blows this game, and it's I mean, I was driving home.
Listen to the game last night and I was like, Yeah, I bet you he blows this game in.
Sure enough, the next pitch CT.
You know, I didn't get to that ball.
He's wheels, you know.
There's nobody else that could have.
Maybe got that ball outside of Alex Verdugo.
Seti's faster than duty.
And so I did him out.
People look at that and they're like Oh, Taylor should have got to that ball or, you know, betting.
And that's the excuse is is that there's Martin.
Should have got to the ball after the game.
Doc Roberts is saying that that he likes his stuff.
Kenley stuff is there.
He looked good. He looked good.
It was just, you know, bad luck and soft contact.
No, Stop saying he looks good.
I don't care what you say isn't the man who misses his spots, and that's all that matters.
I don't care how good your pictures are.
I don't care how much movement they have.
I don't care how fast they are if you miss your spots constantly, especially on a team that employs the shift often, and they're very good at that and they're very precise at that and then one of the best in the league at that.
If you miss your spots, you know Tim Roger season. He's in the streets.
Extreme is well, he brought it up.
The The shift is very effective, especially for the Dodgers, and they're very good at it.
But if you don't hit your spot, it doesn't matter.
You can have all your guys standing in one spot you could have while sitting on the bench.
It's not gonna make a difference if you keep missing your stop.
And that's a money point from SD Dodger, Tim Rogers and the Stream there like, Yeah, that's 100% right? Ah, friend of the stream.
Kroell says Kenley is one bun short of a hot dog sandwich.
He's the hot Doug's sandwich guy.
Yeah, that's his thing, the way the way Perez brings up Miami as much.
Now he had the chance to hot Doug's sandwich.
Um, so last night Ah, in the 10th inning, our boy, your boy Casey Sadler Mighty case on the mound.
He did allow a base runner.
But you know what? He looked pretty **** good.
And he was pitching in his third straight game.
He was, um, wasn't perfectly.
I said here it wasn't perfect, but he got the job done.
Well, who you are is a guy who could be an option when he returns.
Um, I know some people weren't could be each man of that, but, you know, again, we'll get We're gonna dive more into Joe Kelly right now, but there's no shame in a bullpen by committee trial run for part of September.
But there's also no shame in saving money.
So use our promo code overtime in the vivid seats.

Anyways, B d E Joe Kelly and you kids on the Internet.
BD means, um, Kelly.
Big Dodger energy.
Big Dodger Energy kept.
Joe Kelly is I don't know, man is good.
Like, do this filth right now.
I mean, you know, we talked about a little bit with Tim never in the off season break right after they had acquired him, and he had basically warned us.
I mean, he was spot on with it.
Do He said, Look, he's not gonna be the guy all the time that you guys saw in the world.
He's not that guy.
He knows he's not that guy. They know he's not that guy.
He is gonna drive you nuts.
He is gonna make you wish that you didn't pay all that money for him.
Then he's gonna go through valleys and peaks and valleys and peaks and valleys and peaks, and you're gonna You're gonna ultimately be happy that you got him.
That's basically what he said and he drove us through those valleys.
Oh, boy, did he drive us through those valleys? But, I mean, you look at what he's done over the course of the past, I don't know, like, almost three months now.
I mean, he's been rock solid.
He's a guy that just put it out there.
Exactly. He looks untouchable.
338 year in the last 28 games.
He's scoreless for 11 straight now.
I mean, if you're looking at the ninth inning right now, is he your guy? If that's what you're making the decision, he is this guy 100%.
I was gonna have to be more conversation, but no, he's earned it by the numbers and more.
So Kenley has not earned it with his numbers.
Like Joe, Joe was struggling early in the season and he had to hit some of those lower leverage spots.
He had to not now pitches in any of the high leverage spots.
We could figure it out.
He had to get his confidence back.
He had to sort of figure out his his role.
Figure out his thing.
Um, and you know, here we are Where were in love with the dude, and we want him in the ninth inning over Kenley F.
Jansen like that's that's ah, not at all what you would have expected.
Um, I mean, it's funny, because guess what? Four months ago? Yeah.
There's a couple of guys right now that you're looking at your like, you know, I was gonna put it out there right now if Rachel wants to come in and close out games in the playoffs, you know, I'm not opposed to it.
I mean, they're going to try to get Richie up and up and running for starts, but, um, yeah, I'm cool with that.
Can you imagine him closing out Game seven of the World Series? Yeah, he doesn't need to be the guy every time of the night, but that's that's pretty romantic to think about about him.
Baseball's romantic, but it's also pretty romantic.
Think about this, Dudas.
We're gonna throw it up on the screen.
Joe Kelly Just throwing up 99 98.
Just absolute disgust.
Second pitch here in the sequence is, it starts over.
But that 98 with run that thing cut the I would say, What wishful I I don't know.
It caught the eye of Jeeter Downs, number six prospect on the Dodgers farm system.
And he's like, Not now.
That ain't really that's that's That's straight up a video game pitch.
Is weird dunk you can see.
I mean, on a pitch that fast, you don't see it break that far in back in, over the plate on lefties.
But you can see Hosmer's start to bail out and realize his mistake all in the like in milliseconds and going Holy crap, it's coming back to the plate and he's got no chance.
He's got absolutely no chance less than zero chance that not that I was not as good is that I did, um, so that's kind of Argh! I think it's well, yeah, we got Joseph saying he can't trust Kenley anymore, and I think that's that's a good take for sure, Linky says.
Joe Kelly is comfortable where he is right now.
Putting the night might spoil his momentum.
It's another good take it.
You don't want to move him out of the spotlight.
I've found it slightly odd, but I get it, You know, people complaining about him appearing, you know, popping up in the sixth inning.
But you know, those air, the big outs.
Do you want those guys to end up with the 34 502 34 hitters? Get the heart of the order like the dudes who were right.
You know, we're trying to do our best to set up Kenley in the ninth and give him the lower half of the lineup.
But he's still Yeah, just not quite not quite working out.
Unfortunately, no, you know, he way talked about a little earlier in the year when he was struggling.
Dave kept putting him into, like, pretty stressful situations when he was struggling, and it was like, This is not the way to get him out of his phone and absolutely healthy multiple inning outings and multiple inning outings killed him, especially early on.
So, yeah, I mean, you bring up a good point, you maybe don't want to get him out of that rhythm.
He's used to that, you know, roll that he's in right now, coming in for big outs, in the earlier innings and which is what they signed him to Dio.
They did absolutely inning fire, man to do whatever they need whenever they need it.
Even a room in a romantic setting? Absolutely.
And, you know, in the playoff setting, he's gonna see, you know, if he's coming in later in the games, If he's coming in eighth or ninth inning, he's gonna see, like big left handed bats come off the bench.
He's not going to see you guys that he would normally see.
He is actually going to see big left handed bats come off the bench, and that's you know that's a little more stressful.
It's a little bit different approach.
So who knows? The final take care on Kinleys comes from a friend of the show and actual human friend of mine.
Ernie, We got moved out here in the stream saying, Maybe put Kinleys back it, catcher, we need we need a back up with their backup catcher, Ken Leeds.
The catcher Russell Martin, your new closer guys way, didn't read it.
So well, we fixed one problem here today.
So far, another one we're trying to fix, and we actually have a post coming out real soon.
So everybody in the podcast side you can go read it from the post from yesterday about the proceeds struggles of one Cody Villager or belly flopping, if you will, um, by the numbers, I would say you look, you look at this on the back of, Ah baseball card, which they don't have any more.
But this this season, when you look at that slash line, you look at 42 homers and 100 ribbies like, ****, that's a really, really good season.
Well, I mean, it's still there's a full month to play.
At one point, Dude was hitting like 4 20 bro, and now he's going to struggle to hit 300 like to 70 since May 1st, it's 99 games, sure, 2028 home runs.
He's driving in guys, he's he's not a bad player in any way, shape or form.
Um, since what is it? Since the All Star break, he's been to 47 to 22 in here in the month of August, and his on base really helped after picking up three walks on Wednesday.
Well, But, um, he hasn't driven in a run since losing his pants at Dodger Stadium.
Big game for him.
With that said, he's probably gonna drive in the couple runs tonight and probably hit another homer.
And I go for 44 for four.
But probably because we talked about Yeah, because you know, people gonna be like these guys talking about We recorded this before the Thursday science.
Um, what what do you What are you seeing in this dude like? Does he need a couple games off? Just get off his feet.
He's played in 130 of 136 game.
I mean, you look at you.
Look at some of the peripherals on him and I mean, yeah, he's heading to 22 in August.
He's got eight home runs in August, so he is hitting for power. He is.
It does look like he's trying to drive a lot of work.
Homer's came in a seven game span.
They did, and so he's definitely going through a drought.
He's going through.
It is striking out On his first month, he struck out like 14 or less percent of his at bats pretty low strikeout rate.
He wasn't, you know, chasing a lot.
It's been a different stories, though, since, let's just say in August he's striking out 1/4 of the time.
You know, 20 for about 25% of his at bats.
He's striking out, and I think I figured it out.
I think I'm a genius.
I think I've figured out all of his problems, and if you want to come talk to me, I'm available.
Great hitting, coach.
I'm great at popping up.
This is so I could teach you how to not probably.
Yeah, yeah, Uh, it looks like to me now that he's having and Christian Yelich is going through kind of a similar thing where people don't want to pitch to him anymore, But he is not as willing to take the walks as he should be this year in the last couple of months.
So which means people were pitching out of the zone and he's chasing.
Their people are pitching out of the zone and he's making bad contact because it's bad pitches to swing it.
And, you know, in the middle of an M V P race that makes sense.
You know, he wants to keep building those numbers.
He wants to keep looking better and better and building his case for that M V P Award.
And you know, people will say, Oh, he's not thinking about that.
He's thinking about the playoffs.
He is absolutely thinking about history.
Perfect timing on Facebook, Ryan Moore says He said to himself, He said it himself.
He looks at the M V P race and agreeing with you starting press too hard, Pay too much attention to the outside noise, which is hot.
Take good. Take Ryan.
Um, we got Oscar here saying he's back to the uppercut swing.
By the way, Chris is in the stream, so I think we have to start over now.
He just got here. Thanks for joining us.
Um, redo, redo coming at, You know, uh, but now you're right on point with that, like, you can see him pressing, but he's still, like, when he's hitting the ball, he's hitting **** out of the ball.
How he is. Yeah.
I mean, it's only making account, is there, but he is doing the Adam balls right now.
And, uh, you know, he's gotta learn to roll with the punches on that because that's definitely gonna carry over to the postseason, especially with the haters that you have surrounding him.
You don't have a lot of power surrounding him, especially in his spot in the lineup.
The Dodgers tend to front load the lineup with power in trail off at the end.
I mean, key case kind of exception.
He that's a little bit of everywhere.
Somehow, it's homeruns.
Muncy, for the most part, has been protecting him, which is good, and I hope he's okay because they're definitely going to need that.
Um, but yeah, he relies heavily on the strike zone and balls being in the strike zone and balls being hittable in the strikes.
So yesterday, when I was watching the game, I was like, That's actually a pretty good step in the right direction.
You know, he almost hit the ball out like two days ago or whatever it was, but that the walks to me were really meant the most.
It's like, all right, he's recognizing that someone must have pointed out two in my day there, not pitching to you, man.
You got to stop swinging at those pitches because he has Small.
Got some pretty bad pitches past couple weeks as soon as they really started.
Like he figured out that curveball inside.
Yeah, what got him and 17 would hurt him in 18.
He figured out that that breaking ball in and he started crushing it.
So to combat that they started going up the ladder room high in a way high in a way.
And as soon as he started chasing those are like, Okay, we got him, We got him for the rest of the Yeah, and they're coming up and in on time with fastballs now, too.
And he's just not getting turned around on him at all.
He's gonna have to figure it out because it's crunch time.
It's crunch time, baby.
One month left, Yeah, for real.
And that in that one month.
You know, as we're saying here, you know what we're talking about? People saying, Stop Kevin saying, Stop chanting M V P. It's mental.
Um, you know, irregardless homeboys still looking at that M v p race.
And we want him to win the M v p.
But does he need and your eyes is he need that that hot September secure the nlm VP, or is it already locked up for? I think he, uh, he's taken a little bit of a hit to that award, for sure.
I mean, yell itches.
I mean, realistically, it's, you know, people say co**** you, but I just don't union Natasha.
Yeah, I just I just don't know that he's really in it as much as people think he is.
But, you know, wins above replacement.
Bellenger still up there, Yell itches.
I mean, it was just still hitting like 3 30 Is it like that? And he's got, you know, just as many, maybe one last home run, 41 versus 42 or something like that.
But he's doing it on a non playoff team.
He is, and that doesn't play a factor into it.
Like if your if your team doesn't make the playoffs or your team doesn't make it least a run, it hurts your chances a lot because it's the most valuable player you know.
You have to be on an impact team, or else you're just Mike Trout where I'm gonna be or what she does.
And of course, because trout 11 M v P then it's okay to just keep giving it to him, even though he hasn't sniffed the playoffs since 2014.
Um, they should have the Mike Trout Award and then the M V P Award for the like.
It just makes sense, man.
Yeah, nobody else needs the win.
The freakin EVP except my transit Busy makes sense.
Just give him the Mike Trout Award, named it after him, and then you can give somebody the M V P for some somewhere.
Like what? Well, that's a great idea.
So if you guys start to see that deal that you Oh, my God, I need some sort of, you know, compensation.
So real PJ Dwyer, friend of the Stream here, says, Hey, needs to have a big September to at least keep pace.
Uh, which I agree.
Motor back in the stream says he needs to get away from that long swing.
He's back, too, and like you're saying, you know the high pitch.
The high high fastballs have really given Maur of the visual perception that a swing is longer because it is longer.
You know, it's harder to get up to that that ball up there.
Uh, Lauren does point out that yelling is at 42.
So yelling and Billy are tied at the top of the National League with 42 he's got an eight war, though.
I think I think yellow's is like at, like, six.
You know, the writer, you know, the voters don't pay attention to that.
They don't know what else I know they don't.
But also, Christian Yelich can't hit on the road.
I was talking, Yeah, that's that's pretty big.
And again, his team is really bad.
I was talking to, uh, our boy, Daniel Preciado at Dan.
Jay Prescott, I think is at is on Twitter.
I was talking to him about that, about, you know, this this M v p thing and all that today.
And he pointed out something that's really important when it comes to Cody Bellinger, that the voters will also hugely swing and miss honest.
I mean, he is having an elite defensive year wherever the hell you put him.
I mean, he's gotta win a gold glove straight. Got it.
I think he has enough time in the outfield.
Absolutely, definitely has enough time.
The outfield wanna go? And he should.
He should win a Gold Glove.
I mean, who's even defensively who's even out there to compete with him in the National League? I mean, I can't really I can't really think of another.
I mean, Christian Yelich has 42 home runs, so that means he has to be good.
I mean, he's a winner. Gold Glove.
Yeah, he's **** good at defense, and I hate Major League baseball voting.
It's the most flawed system in America.
Braun won over camp because of team records, camp numbers.
Kemp's numbers were way better, and they were not juice.
He was only high on Rianna.
Yeah, and maybe like weed.
Wow, the man can eat.
I'm saying a man, Johnny crushes e.
I love watching.
Maddie tried to get himself in shape and right, and he's playing a lot of first base.
And you know what? Real athletes like me play first base.
He'll be coaching the big league softball in no time, and real athletes like me, like the look, freshen our duds.
So, guys, we're gonna tell you about our all new shop are all new Dodger Nation Shop.
Look at that sweet, sweet swag, if you will, you can get that forever.
Collectible friend of the show shirt.
You could support us, please.
For the love of God support us.
Dodgers nation dot coms Last shop hope 20% off using that, that could be a TSH live 20.
We have chicks dig the launch angle we got It's gonna be may we have the babe re youth shirt that I here I am wearing here, but, um, you know, that's a pretty fire stuff I do have.
I gotta unfurl it Here.
One guy's so bear with me, but not like it.
The blanket is not the pillow, but it is Cody Bellenger, You are ridiculous.
It's actually pretty fire share.
Like it designed by, uh, by our friend of the stream friend of the show.
Um Courtney McClure sir.
Are you lost? I broke that cup anyways, so maybe at that point we understand what we're I understand what's going on over the cables in the shot Yeah, there was at 40 minutes in, and so we got through belly.
We've gone through Kenley.
We gotta talk about Daniel.
Have the taco about shirt.
I want the way you talk about.
OK, so September call up.
September 1st is on everybody with me all together on Sunday, so Oh, the clubhouses and get real crowded.
You think about this point? I'd like to make bigger places.
I thought your fanning yourself hot.
Yeah, the A c is broken, guys, and it's ruining my life.
I think my life as a big boy is ruining my life.
But it's also I'm sweating in my swell hat that my friends over there at New Era sent me a while back it and properly give them the love.
But that whole born and raised l a pretty fire hat.
You know, I'm not.
I've never been a huge fan of the fitted hats, but I didn't even tell him what size my giant head was.
And Homegirl nailed it.
So he's got a big Yeah.
You have to say about big heads.
Um, he had big hats.
So dodgersclubhouse, like I said, It's lined out to be hella crowded starting on Sunday, I'm guessing mysteriously, Kristen, Kristen groans Neck is going to hell. Good.
Yeah, I feel fine.
Tyler White will probably be back.
Tyler White will come back from the booth.
Messed up these nice kid.
He has thyroid issue.
Ross Strip Ling's neck and biceps will feel fine and funny enough.
We did find out that his outing last night was fine.
He did well, Um, and he's lined up 100% to come back on Sunday.
Think he threw three innings, 45 pitches or something like that? Seem that Ah, hey through in Arizona today, apparently.
He joined the Dodgers in Arizona Day after throwing two hitters in the same game at Camelback Ranch on Tuesday.
Uh, Bill Plunkett nail that.
I haven't seen this tweet yet.
I'm reading it right here.
Will be part of the magical wave of here that takes place Sunset way like that.
We're very proud of you.
Julio is also not very far behind.
He's eligible to come off on the second or the third I forget, but, um, David David freezes leg will magically heal you know, it's gonna feel, despite the fact he chased down roster Bleak and Ke ke I mean, that roster when the other guy Russell, Martin and Kiki Yeah, Um what about the other guarantees, though? You gotta figure Dylan Flora is gonna be a guys and be back.
Austin Barnes already said is coming back.
Although I don't think he's technically eligible until after the 10 day window.
He's gonna miss a few days.
Um, the guys that are likely to be added shag. Wow, Kyle.
Garlic are like sausage, beans, and taters will be united.
Would be reunited and will feel so good.
Rios probably coming up.
Edwin Rios is a guy.
The other injury Guys, I didn't return along the way.
Not immediately, but we got Verdugo.
You got Alex Hill.
Who? Alex Alex Hill.
Rich Hill. **** Mountain.
Whose One of those guys that I said they're gonna need a 40 man spot for? Um, I don't think they expect Scott Alexander back this year.
I think he died.
I'm not really sure what happened, Thio.
Sorry about your years.
Maybe it's just are you know, I'm gonna get rid of that one Yeah.
I mean, Scott appreciate.
Just like, doesn't play baseball anymore, Something like that.
We got Julian the Stream who had another fire comment that I I wanted to get, but it was out of context earlier.
But love, usually you're nailing it here.
But she says, chicks dig Lowe's home runs can confirm.
Can't confirm it.
Nailed It was 100% crushed it that is a money comment.
Um, some of those guys outside looking in, Do you have? Ah, Josh bores a butthole and Jamie Schultz.
But again, those might be some of the type of dudes that get the FAA because we need roster spots.
It's very possible.
And the big roster spots the big name boy, the biggest of name's Gavin F.
Lux, who the entire world lost their mind about last night because shortly after Max Muncy got hit on the wrist and came out of the game, Lux was removed from his Triple eight game but is because he was ejected.
Yeah, yeah, so I confirmed it with him.
Yeah, he actually d end us about it.
It was like, now, and look at the stupid call.
So he let us know why he got ejected.
I appreciated that about you, Kevin.
That was That was very, very professional.
The appreciate that nice little nice kid friend of the show.
But Dennis Santana, that's another guy.
You probably see it. I forgot about him.
I think we all forgot about Yeah, He has, like, a 70 are a Yeah, is a minor.
He hasn't earned it.
But Dave earlier, uh, this this year, I think a couple weeks ago said he doesn't anticipate as many dudes being added to the active roster.
There's this year, but I'm calling shenanigans.
At least call shenanigans.
What do you think? Emotion.
That's a lot of people, a lot of bodies and people need to get their work in September.
They're still playing for a home field advantage.
You got players changing roles.
Who do you think is of those guys who who's who's coming up? Maybe, let's let's say, instead of going with our surefire not rosters yet Ah, who do you think of those guys is like for sure for sure, coming up.
You think that listing that I did there? I mean, I think you're pretty accurate that you know they were pretty adamant.
I mean, they're really forthcoming and saying that Gavin looks is coming up in September and he has a shot to make the playoff roster.
We want to get a look at him for specifically for the playoff roster.
So Gavin Lux is gonna probably play **** near close to every day in September.
He's gonna be probably starting like I don't know, 90% of the games in September.
Tim lets us know that Lux is at second base again tonight, so that's really telling again of the plans because he is our in my future second baseman.
You see that he is.
And he did again, as some of you all have heard in past episodes, when I had the chat with Mr Garrow.
Um, no, he's He's proud of the defensive leaps that he's made the steps orders he's made this season.
So, you know, he grew up as a second baseman.
He's playing shortstop.
He's gotten a lot better.
So him bits at second base really does work work pretty well.
It'll be delicious if you will, but the players changing roles.
You and I last night.
We're talking about maybe going to the bullpen.
He's gotta prep for his playoff role.
He's obviously not starting, so he's got maybe one or two more starts at best.
Um, our friend Matt Baby's going to start less and less because he's gotta work on his pinch hitting role.
He's not gonna start in the playoffs.
He probably deserves it.
He's a difference maker for this team, and we've seen it now, time and time again when he's a sure we win.
But But you have jock thrown out there for righties, most writing games, and I mean, let's face it, guys, he's gonna face varieties in the in the place that playoffs.
There's no doubt about that, but but But Matt Baby has pretty good splits against lefties, So he's gonna get those at bats later in the game over Jock Fisher, and he's fire as a pinch hitter.
Andy's fire as a person and his wife really cool people.
His wife's really cool.
But, you know, I'm sure everybody has heard the story from from Joe Davis talking about baby when he was optioned down the first time through, he he asked the front office.
Taking it was a cool bye gets a pinch hitting work.
You know, in the games.
I'm not starting in hell.
Yeah, you can. This guy knows his role here.
That's pretty awesome gal of a boy who knows his role team player.
Let the boys sleep in your bed, the boy, Tony Gonzalez, and start seeing more readings out of the pen.
Because while he needs innings this year because he he's kind of an oddly hurt triple a lot this year, Uh, it's pretty apparent that his role is gonna be in the bullpen for the Dodgers for the big league club.
And that dude just has nasty stuff.
Um, he's like one of the biggest wild cards off of the potential for this for a deep playoff run and possibly eventually winning.
I mean, you have made a gonsouland there in the pen.
I really think that Dustin May kind of paired with Rich Hill.
Sounds pretty nice, eh? Perform.
That's a really tall, awkward do like I'm talking about, like you guys remember back in the day, coming.
They made it. Yeah, and then he had the knockoff of if they melted.
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
That's a lot of legs between May and Chata legs.
What's not arms? Elbow? Yeah, well, you know, without, like, Rich has the weird way he carries him anyway, So we got the first jurors we have. The for sure is there.
So, um, who's on your You're for sure? Not my own boss. Might not.
List has been not here.
I mean, let's just start at the top in Blair.
The top. I mean, alphabetical order.
Are you looking at the I find I'm actually looking at the actual I was there the roster with you, but I'm gonna start with our friend.
Know not only the Russians.
Ricky did not make a playoff roster.
Not on the playoff roster.
Um, now, let's go bury this.
That'll be the day that that's too long.
That's the last time wearing a whistle.
That was aggressive.
So he's one for me, and I'm not gonna like this.
I know you're not like this.
I don't want you to cry.
My body is ready.
Jimmy Garcia as sure as the sun sets, he will not be helping the playoff roster.
You know what a James gives up a homerun last night as we figured out James Garcia what he does, Jimmy, if you're nasty, uh, what he does what he figured out if he hits a batter, he can set up a home run cause he can on Lee, everybody altogether can serve up solo home run.
So figured out that I figured it out.
He's his own pitching coach.
Drill dudes in the moving on from there.
That pretty eyes it for the pitching stuff.
I mean, you could argue Adam Cleric, because they've been so weird about how they use them.
Yeah, they need Shaggy is not gonna be on it.
No way. Shape or form.
Probably not Dylan Floro? Because I think, Yeah, I mean, he's starting his rehab assignment tonight.
Yeah, I mean, he hasn't assigned to prove himself was another phantom eye health.
It probably was.
But getting into position players is my favorite one.
I don't think Clayton Kershaw makes Jed.
I want a contest to get on a major league baseball team.
Jericho is probably not gonna be honorably.
All rather I know that's not really a bold statement by any means, but shock.
And I'm gonna send you prepare a boy before you say I'm probably Mr.
Jerko is not on the playoff roster.
I don't Doesn't even have a hit.
Yeah, he had, like, a lucky hit.
He is definitely one for me.
That's not gonna be on the playoff rounds. Tear.
Josh bores just now.
Your wars or shelter 40 man.
There is a good chance that Ross tripling is not a playoff roster was when it wasn't last year was one of the questions I was gonna have for you here.
If you If you're now stuck choosing between Casey Sadler and Ross Stripling who are taking good call if you're stuck between the lobster May and stripling and you only get two of them dons in May Johnson for the Pan Gonsouland may Let's say it comes down to May and Stripling in the bullpen A Oh, I don't know.
I want to see him throw a couple more of pen.
Dude, I'm taking the electricity over the But Ross has been so good in a multitude of roles and, you know he can come in there and either strike out a dude or get that ground ball.
He has control of his secondary pitches as we're dusting, you still kind of learning him.
He does if it's between May and and and Ross for that final spot, and and it's not because we've had him on the show.
But I got to go with Ross.
He was sitting right there just just just just in that, that final like Longman versatile role just because he's done it for the better part of his entire for your five year major league, four year major league career for your five year.
All right, fine.
Here's an interesting one I'll throw you then because it gets a little interesting.
You my glove? Actually, our I can't really go.
Uh, when you get down to the catching situation, Will Smith does not know.
Okay, so everything back up is Russell Martin's back up? Or is it Austin Barnes? We talked about it.
Ah, in in the, uh, somebody agrees me.
Ah, lot of numbers says yes.
Ross Over. May S O D.
Smith. Smart person.
Oh, a lot of numbers.
I understand what was the question.
Who are you know, we were talking about it in in our internal Dodgers nation's secret super chat channel.
Ah, $1000 if you guys want to join it or just be good at writing the password.
You guys could go around this Brooke Fufu to everybody, but no change in the normal David they were doing.
The question came about, and I remember it was from Daniel or from from Jason.
But it was about like, you know, you're here in the playoffs and it's a blowout game.
Do you throw Russ Martin out there? Just save your bullpen and I'm like, I don't know.
I kind of I kind of do have faith in him, Of course, where we're seeing, Ah, an entirely different brand of, um of, you know, guys, bullpen E.
Guys, as the kids say, hope any guy that those are words.
Yeah, he hasn't of the human words as we're coming up close to game time, so we gotta get well soon, But it is a game on it.
Okay, I'm gonna make sure just Yeah, uh, remember I was going with it, but I take Martin I take Russell Martin over Austin Barnes.
Barnes would make the roster with his versatility, but because you do have a healthy CT three who's performing well, you have a healthy ke ke, my good, close personal friend who's performing well, those air those spots.
Those of those spots like I didn't really look at the bull pink, so I figure the bullpen kinda really writes itself. It does.
It works itself out.
It's interesting how many people are being forced to the bullpen, though It's kind of weird how that worked out gonsouland and possibly May and made a strange a lot of numbers, says Martin over Barnes to another one.
We got Richard Hooker **** Hooker in the streams of shot out guys.
Shut out, **** Hooker.
He's from Lancaster.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.
Uh, Robert says will every game, please.
Oh, he started every game.
The players we know you mean well, Smith.
But like, well, every game, please.
Well, let's well, every game, please.
Let's is a kicker, right? He is a kicker.
In the comments below, uh, ray raising stream, Ray gives us some love.
He says, Hey, guys.
Checking it a bit late, but best, Most awesome.
Baseball show On the net.
Barnes. Thank you for hanging out with us.
Martin over Barnes for sure.
Um, who else we got? So, yeah, Barnes is really there on the bubble.
Most likely not making it.
Baby makes my roster.
Baby. Makes my roster freezer, of course.
Jed Jerko and Tyler White Heat is jettisoned.
Then somewhere they don't want to an island.
We're talking about this last night.
Have you guys ever seen, like, Maur non Dodger dudes than those dudes? My gosh, Jed. Jerko.
I mean, I made the joke earlier.
He literally he looks like a fan who, somehow, like, found a hat, got past security, and they were like, Hey, what are you doing out here? He was like, Don't you recognize me? I'm on the team and they were like, Where's your glove? And he's like, I it's in the clubhouse.
And then he went inside and stole somebody's glove.
It was like, I am Dodger now and then Now he just plays, and they were like, Oh, Yeah, I guess it's on the team.
You say he has a learning disability.
I can't really have a learning disability thinking still his own last night.
Tough last name? Uh, I don't know.
I mean, that name does look like it's completely made up.
Like P uh, tear Griffin.
Jenny has a very, very important question.
So when's the beard, man? Sure dropping.
I posted it online.
Like, just send me for that.
How much you charging? $4000.
4000 euros and sign it and I will sign it, Sweating it.
Oh, yeah, it like we got Jed Joko coming from Frank talk.
Where you been, bro? Sif miss you buddy.
Come, Mr Sent Jed Joke. Mr. Musk.
Uh, we got looks.
Looks like he's 38 plus days.
Feel kind of bad.
Yeah, he's trying.
He's a nice boy, probably.
Probably from e.
L should talk more soup on Tyler White, but, um yeah, the grown James doesn't make the roster even slightly.
Kg doesn't garlic might be like, um especially mean Another big thing.
We didn't really touch on too much and we'll probably talk about more because he won't be active by then.
You really don't know when he's going to be back alive.
Apparently his His oblique issue wasn't venting.
You know, it really was a real man.
Uh, What? We got a nerd I got.
Is that Abner? It's Abner.
I can read a Bernard Omega is a family guy.
Reference for the wind. Yes. Nailed it.
Um, breast wants me to point out that if Jed Jerko does hit a home run a walk off home run or whatever it is, it would be a jerk off, Of course, as we also coming.
But, um, for the things that nobody asked me about as we wrap up here in the 100 minute of this show, you're here and there.
But for me, my my lineup goes as such.
We got picture playing the one position, but of course, Smith at catcher.
I got Max Muncy at first.
This is my playoff line up, guys.
Gavin Locks is at second base of my my playoff defense. Wait.
I think that's your first.
That was your first three misses.
All in one sequence.
It's hot in here.
It was really hot.
Are eight air conditioning broke? When this is over, I'm going to the farmer's market.
How people gonna know where we have.
There's a lot of farmers market.
Corey Seager, I think, makes my team.
Bellenger is in right field on my team.
Alex Verdugo is in center field in a J. Pollock.
I didn't understand that he can't play left field.
He hasn't played left field at the major league level, but those are my guys in that order or you you flip him because I understand the way they're going.
But, yeah, I have Lux starting at second base.
Actually, have Lux for me having leading up.
I've Lux, Verdugo, Turner, Bellenger, Muncie, Seeger, Polic Smith.
That is a deep is out line up.
That's a good lineup.
Can confirm Lux isn't gonna lead off.
I'm aware of that.
He's investigating offer okay, see and and Rancho and tell us and all the teams he's played with, but he's not gonna lead off for the big league team, but if he did well, can you guys imagine? Picture picture with me right now? You can't see it right.
