You pull it out there and I do think it's my headphones.
Yeah, I'm gonna take this off.
Look kind of dumb.
All right? Hey, we're back.
We are Peach basket.
We started, uh, kind of naming the stream and podcast for no particular reason other than people kept asking me what the name of it. Waas.
So, you know, peach baskets the site run it back is the cast.
So what? We're gonna what? What we plan to do.
What we hope to dio is whenever there is news, we want to just kind of read run it back and we'll take a look at what happened this week and a lot happened in the n b A.
This week. So there's certainly a lot to talk about.
Um, with me is Daniel.
Uh, every time we don't, y'all don't see it here in the live stream.
And I'm feeling a little bit of time here. Let people join.
But when we kind of prepare this for our podcast network, there is a theme song at the end.
Daniel, know if you've heard it, but that is a that song was written its original theme song written for Peach Basket by Tony Yashar, who writes for US rights With us on is good if you haven't heard it.
Zgray eight It's a kind of it's a kind of songs, you know could be to it.
And it leaves your kind of thinking about it after after you here.
At least I think so.
So shout out to Tony a sharp for writing that for us on.
You'll hear it at the end of this if you stick around to the very end.
All right, thank you for all that are joining us.
We're gonna go ahead and just dive right in.
I want to start first.
Daniel, by talking about the draft.
You spend a lot of time looking at the draft.
You wrote a great article.
Um, and your mock draft is really spot on picks.
One picks, two picks.
But after that, it was crazy.
People made some really odd decisions.
Teams, mates, and we're decisions.
We'll see how they how they play out.
Um, but let's let's let's talk just about our focus.
The Lakers, the Clippers and the Celtics, those the teams that we've got kind of dedicated teams covering right now, So those the ones we want to kind of focus on in 2021 the aforementioned Tony is going to start covering the Cavaliers.
So we're excited Thio to kind of expand our repertoire, if you will.
So let's start with the picks for the Lakers, the Clippers and the Celtics.
The Lakers pick 28 picked Jade McDaniels.
That wasn't there.
They ship that pick Thio acquire Schroeder.
The Clippers pig 57th.
Um, that pick was also traded as part of the Lucan.
We'll talk about both of those, Uh, and just a little bit.
So the Lakers and Clippers, Not a whole lot to talk about in terms of the draft.
The Clippers did pick up, and so did the Lakers.
Picked up some players, uh, in draft deals, but their picks basically just traded away.
Celtics, though picked, had four picks, and they kept all four at 14.
They picked their Nesmith at 26.
Peyton pressured 30th Desmond Bain and 47th Yom Adar.
Uh, you're the Celtics guy.
I will always defer to you when it comes to the Celtics.
Tell me what you think about those picks, I guess probably most telling is their first pick.
Aaron Nesmith at 14.
I just want to clarify real quick.
The Celtics traded that 30th pick to Memphis, does right on, and that's how they also dumped and his cancer and they signed.
A center will get on later in the stream.
But Aaron Dean Smith was kind of someone I had going before the Celtics.
I don't really think he would be an option by the time they picked, and when he was there, I was.
I had my own livestream going on during the draft with my friends, and I just said, I have to be you.
Smith even looking for a shooter off the bank, needs to draft me Smith and he drafted him, and I thought, It's a great pick.
Hey, was one of the best.
I think he was the best three point shooter in all of college basketball last year.
He's a specialist three point specialist, Um, uh, so I was very stoked about that pick.
I think it's a pick they needed to do, and I think a change ace, that one.
The 26th pick, Um, shocks me a little bit.
It's a good pick, and maybe I'm a little biased towards thinking that.
But it was a good pick because I didn't see that guy in the first round in my mouth.
I mean, a lot of other people didn't see him going first round, But he's kind of the Celtic type of player in the in the way that he just gives his effort.
And everyone said he gives all his effort.
He works his butt off every single game near the end of his career.
Uplift. I guess he averaged triple doubles.
Um, not overall, but near the end, Uh, it's just kind of a Boston pick.
They have, like someone like Marcus Smart.
I'm not saying he's as good a defender's Marcus Smart, but someone like that and that 47 pick it was just a draft and stash died.
But they said he could be a decent backup point guard if he ever comes over to the N B A.
Overall, I saw a lot of trash talk from Celtics fans on draft night because we didn't draft the big name.
We didn't trade for the big tree, But look at it.
The Celtics, they didn't have the greatest draft ever, in my opinion, But they had a draft that was decent, and I thought they got some good players out of it.
So that's how I and the draft is such a So we're such a weird thing because it's so hard to really great it You immediately after it's over, You know, you gotta wait and see.
You know, when we talked last week, you and I talked right on the tip.
I appreciate it very much.
That's why we do this.
We appreciate that.
We talked last week that a big part of the draft is who you get picked by, right? You could have a really good player who's gonna just excel with the timber waas.
But for whatever reason, just is gonna get lost with the warriors, you know, or whatever.
So the right player, the right time matters.
Um and so we'll see.
I mean, you just don't know.
I guarantee you nobody cared about the Manu Ginobili picket 57.
If I remember right when the Spurs made it, nobody cared.
People had to look him up.
People didn't know how to pronounce his name.
And the dude, the Hall of Famer.
So, you know, way We just have to wait and see.
I listen to podcasts a couple of days, and I think the Celtics podcast and what they said It was so true.
And it was everyone at home behind their computers, tweeting at the Celtics and Danny Ainge saying, Oh, your pick was horrible.
What are you doing when Danny Ainge probably has so much information behind the scenes? Why this guy should be drafted and he gets to see them up close and personal on like, these guys were just saying highlights which I mean, I like many just good clips.
You don't really see the back side e.
I mean, you see people.
People are just saying, Oh, draft Cassius Winston Draft Trey Jones with the 14th pick and trade.
Jones goes like 35th overall.
So I just think the Celtics fans one of that big name college player, but just picked the right college player.
Yeah, sorry, Celtic.
Well, you know that's again.
Draft is hard for agency, period.
It's hard because you do have fans who you know, they got their heart in the game, man.
They are Celtics fans.
They're like his fans there. Clippers fans.
And they want that big splash they want they want with.
The Clippers had last year, right? They want the coil letters in the ball of George's and design.
Williamson's who everybody does, but I think it's the best teams, and we said this last week to the best teams are the ones that confined them on news of 57 right? And maybe that's Yom Madara at 47 this year for the Celtics.
We just We have to wait and see them, all right? I thought it was interesting to and I wrote it down.
You said dumped and his cancer.
You said Don't And his computer is a good player.
I want you to explain yourself by dump, who is a salary dump.
He's not gonna get playing time, So let's give him to someone.
Because there was a report that he had to choose between recent Trailblazers.
He said, Hey, where do you wanna go play? We'll send them because there's a three team trade.
Yeah, I wanna go back to Portland.
So they gave him a Portland.
He's probably have a significant place.
So technically, this help for being nice with this.
They're kind of fun when you're not gonna play.
So where do you wanna go, E? I mean, we'll talk about later.
They kind of They definitely got an upgrade.
Overweight cancer brought it. Alright.
I always like the guy.
I just thought he's a He's a He's just blue collar dude e.
I liked him and he always said the right thing to the media.
I always like a Yeah. Dumped.
I thought was a funny choice of words.
But I got you right on, all right.
And thanks for the call out to I did not know that the Celtics had traded Desmond Pain.
Let's go now then.
You know the draft is be interesting and will be really interesting to look back on it in a year.
Hopefully, we'll be able to do that, But let's take a look first at the Lakers and the free agency period.
Now I want to compare this year to last right.
Last year was a waiting game.
If you remember the Lakers waiting on quite to make a decision and cut down to the to L A teams who I chose, the Clippers.
And then the Lakers, to their credit, had planned be read.
I wanna interrupt you, actually, because Sham just reported Serge Ibaka is signing with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Oh, the Clippers.
Okay, that's big.
You said Los Angeles.
I was waiting. Okay, that's big.
And that that makes up for a lot.
So I wanna flip this to you. I won't ask you a question.
Who got the better end? The Clippers get better with surgery.
Boccardi the league better with mantra zero.
That's that's a phenomenal question.
That's honestly phenomenal. Question e.
It's tough, man.
Mantra is the sixth man of the year, you know, and phenomenal player great guy.
I think he excelled in large part because of that connection he had with Lou Williams.
So what? We're gonna have to see who you know who is who is his Lou Williams for the Lakers, but in and of its in and of himself? Just just if you take Trez as a player, I think he's a phenomenal player is a banger.
Um, but he's got some downside, and that was exposed against the Denver Nuggets.
Now Trans is not the reason that the Clippers lost against the Nuggets when they were up 31 He was not the reason.
But you're dumb to think he wasn't a big part of the reason.
It's just dominated him.
He could not stop him.
And Yokich is in the Pacific Division.
Are, you know, is in the West Pacific.
He's gonna play against the Lakers.
I I have to I haven't got my head around it, man.
So surge is now going to take surges.
I think he's, you know, you know what you're gonna get with him.
You're not looking to score a lot of point.
He's not gonna be looking to score a lot of points where I think trays kind always did him and Luke kind of made it work.
I think now Lou Williams is probably gonna get more of a green light.
But he's 34 now.
I think, too. So that might be problematic.
I don't know, man. You put me on the spot.
I think e think the Lakers got the better end of the deal because he got an 18 point again score surge is not an 18 point game score.
But I think if you look at the overall dynamics of the team, I think, sir, just kind of a better fit for the Clippers, then Trez is for the Lakers, but time will tell.
Appreciate that tip, man.
Thank you very much.
Um, but I Listen, I think I think they're both really, really, really solid picks.
Um, yeah, I'm surprised, and we'll get to it a little bit.
Well, I guess we could get to it now.
We've already started telling the road I was really surprised by Trez because he did win the Sixth Man of the Year award.
He had a phenomenal year, and everybody was talking about how this time you got paid and he didn't really get paid.
Man, he really didn't get paid.
Not the kind of not the kind of payday I was expecting.
That the length I think he got two years, second years as an option year, and I think it's 19 or 89 million a year. It might be wrong.
It's like 19 million over.
All right? That's not the paid I was expected from this guy now.
Maybe he hurt himself because he did have a really poor playoffs in the bubble, but and he's going back to being a backup, you know? And maybe he's embracing that.
Thio, repeat is the sixth man of the year.
I don't know, but he's backing up.
Um and, uh, yeah, I don't know.
I mean, the Denver Nuggets were quick to post a congratulations.
I don't know if you saw this.
I think I don't know if it was on Twitter where I saw it, but e I don't know if it was the official Nuggets account or a Nuggets account, but they posted Congratulations Thio the Lakers with, you know, with Trans being dominated by Yokich.
Uh, yeah, and then they photoshopped the late histories in there.
It'll be rough, man. We'll see.
We'll see. Will be very interesting, but great segue.
And and thanks for that.
Which bomb? Uh, that's big.
We'll talk about it.
Focus on the Lakers Lakers lost Avery Bradley who opted out and it didn't matter, but good player had it had a good year for the Lakers, Not necessarily a good year before then.
So it'll be interesting to see in which every Bradley the heat get for John Rondo, the guy I've never been a big fan of.
But man did he come through for the Lakers is now with the Hawks.
Dwight Howard, with six, is the guy who I thought was gonna blow up in ruin teen chemistry and just destroy the Lakers.
And he just said the opposite was so good.
He's with six years and then Danny Green.
Those guys are gone.
Um, so first thought and I'll ask you and you know, with the understanding, you know, more Celtics guy.
But I know you know basketball.
Those are big key players.
The Lakers air about LeBron and 80 but you don't win with two players.
You gotta have a really good supporting cast.
Which one of those four guys Avery Bradley, John Rondo, Dwight Howard? Danny Green? Do you think the Lakers gonna miss most? I have to say, John Rondo and I wanna point out real quick that before the bubble started last year, remember I told you that Rondo would be a key part to the Lakers winning the championship, and you laughed at e part of your championship.
I have no recollection of that.
I don't remember that happening.
So anyways, I feel like Rondo just has that veteran and he's now a two time NBA championship.
So he has a champion, a champion.
Hey has that veteran leadership that the Lakers kind of needed in He didn't want to take.
He wouldn't listen to LeBron and not like in the terms of LeBron, talked down him and heading back like he coached LeBron as well.
He coached a D to coached all these young people, and it was the best thing that could have happened for the Lakers.
And I feel like that's something that we lost.
Yes, Dennis Schroder could be considered an upgrade statistically on the court, but that leadership Rondo had in that locker room is gonna be deeply missed next year.
So I just kind of an underrated.
I saw that he tweeted out he's coming back.
He left and people were just like, Oh, we didn't need Dwight Howard.
Anyway, Dwight Howard was pretty good, and except for the finals for the first three, he was pretty good and he was again with Howard you get a little bit of defense with mantra as Harold, defense isn't really there, Right? There's reports out there that the Lakers are still looking for a big man.
One source told me that they're gonna try to get Marc Gasol.
Yeah, in the same and that they're gonna trade JaVale McGee.
And it seems like javale McGee is just out of the picture.
So yeah, I think there's on Rondo's with this deal.
Yeah, Yeah, I agree. I agree.
And I'm shocked and I'm happy to admit I was wrong because I waas I am not a word John Rondo fan, not a Dwight Howard fan.
But both of those guys were amazing and resident Rhonda will be missed and you're absolutely right.
I think he nailed it.
When you look at Schroeder, I think he can.
He was 18 points a game and it came in third.
Second or third in the sixth Man of the year on Trans Harrell.
18 points and 10 rebounds.
First in 16 years, the Lakers just gained points undeniable.
And on paper, that looks really good because at the end of the day, you want to score more points than the other team.
But there are intangibles, and the Lakers never really hurt for points because LeBron scores on a D scores them.
They needed these intangible guys.
They needed the Virgin Rondo's to coach LeBron right.
They needed the Dwight Howard Thio.
Just grab that monster rebounder hit that big dunk, you know, to energize the crowd when we had crowds.
Um, and now they got guys, We're gonna put the ball, uh, you know, in the net.
No doubt about it at a greater rate than those guys did.
But they might have lost something chemistry, right? It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
Let's talk about the Lakers game.
We've talked a lot about my trays.
Wesley Matthews, who's dad played for the Lakers, is now a Laker.
And then KCP was retained that that just happened a couple of hours ago, so I'm happy for KCP.
He kind of bounced around a little bit, I think, signed a lot.
I think he signed a one year deal with the Lakers and a two year deal with Layers e.
He's got four years.
He'll probably retire a Laker.
It's good for him um, so, Yeah.
I mean, I was gonna ask, you know who you think is the biggest pick up, but I think there to bigger ones, um, entrees and Schroeder, for sure.
So I mean, let me e What do you think? I give you my thoughts.
I think they're going to get more points, but maybe less chemistry.
Firstly, Matthew is a bit pick up with them, but I just want to put this out now.
Maybe you guys can have that recorded for future reference.
I'm guarantee that in a couple of months, when Muslim Matthew starts missing shots, they were to say the same exact things I said to Danny, Green toe Wesley Matthews was the matter isn't upper.
He cheaper? Definitely something I would do if I was a GM.
I definitely switch those two out.
But some people were telling like Wesley Matthews is like his 2013 form.
He's not like someone I would really wanna be like.
Oh, was he Matthews open for three? Yes.
We're gonna win the game.
Same Mary, Maybe, but I just wanted I just see that Laker fans and maybe a lot of fan bases do this over, hyped the signings to get them excited, but quickly.
Matthew doesn't really that good anymore.
He will give them some good minutes at the two.
But I don't really think he's that good.
But as you were saying, I think the offensive production is gonna go away up with Schroeder and Harold.
I think they're gonna be one of the best offensive teams in the league.
But offense doesn't win championships.
That defensive end is a huge hole, in my opinion. Yes, yeah.
Ah, potential defensive player of the year in Davis.
He'll probably clean up all their message.
LeBron, when he really wants to try, He's one of the best.
Wesley Matthews isn't as good as it used to be.
Dennis Schroder is not a good defensive player.
Mantra was not a good defensive player.
McGee kind of get got bullied by, uh, which in the Western Conference finals.
So again, I think if the reports are true that they get Marc Gasol, that'd be a huge help.
You definitely help against bigger men, and especially if the blog goes, they could have Gasol maybe start against like a Yokich, right Cooper's did have a good defensive player.
Guard Yokich and then have Harold come off the bench.
Maybe, um, But if I had to pick one, acquisition was the biggest.
I think it has to be shoulder.
Yes, Harold is probably the cheapest option.
And it was definitely one that shocked the entire n b a landscape no one really thought.
And I love like two seconds later, Pat Bev just tweets.
What with Red emojis.
And I'm like, Wow, so you knew it.
But that shrewder LeBron has always been with the Lakers.
Last year it was always they needed third score and Vogel said, Our third scores Whoever's hot that night now legit third score.
Create his own shot.
He doesn t lebron has sent him up.
And when LeBron takes arrest, he's there.
I'm gonna see what woes Just tweeted.
You could wait second.
Yeah, it's a two year, $19 million deal with the Clippers.
A player options for year two.
Kind of a lot of centers of beginning in the open market, right? Yeah.
No, that's good.
I'm chomping at the bit to talk about that a little bit.
Yeah, I know. I I agree.
I think for me, I think the Lakers have, you know, the biggest problem the Lakers had last year. They didn't have a lot.
I mean, the champions.
Right? So you you put this up with a qualifying asterisk here, but they didn't have a playmaker when LeBron sat, and when Rondo was out, it really showed they didn't have somebody who could really be a playmaker.
Uh, traditional point guard.
When Rondo was in, he did that great.
I'm not sure Schroeder is that guy.
So I still when I look at the Lakers roster now, I think they need your traditional point guard to come in here and make you know and and be the playmaker.
LeBron is their point guard, but when he when he rests, they have, you know, they had a real weakness, uh, last year.
But, you know, we're all Yeah, they're gonna be scary.
Now let's go to the Clippers.
The Clippers lost Monterey's.
They lost to Michael Green, which is a big loss.
Landry Sham. It was traded away.
They got Marcus Morris they retained him.
Um, Patrick Patterson also retained Luke Kennard, J. Scrub.
Who's interesting to me? Uh, junior college Player of the year.
It's an interesting decision that he made while he couldn't play in in, you know, big school academically ineligible.
So he went to the J.
C and had a great career.
Justin, Peyton and Daniel. Arturo.
I wanna talk about those picks a little because I think that's interesting.
Those were Jack picks.
Let's ask the same question I asked.
We start with the the Lakers.
The Clippers lost track as John Michael Green, Landry Samet, Rodney McGruder.
Who do you think is gonna hurt the most? Why not just say Montrose Harold? Because, as you mentioned with Lou Williams came in him and great chemistry off the bench, both sixth man of the year contenders, which you hardly see ever on NBA teams to six man.
Yeah, and yes, Ibaka is a good addition.
But again, Ibaka and Harold played two extremely different games.
Heralds, like that energy guy off give you 20 points tonight and because he's not as good defensively as it used to be.
But he gives occasionally does that box shot. He said.
He's a lot better now than he used to people.
Um, so I think mantra is Harold just and also the chemistry like you can tell that those kind of people I mean, there's a lot of reports that they had a turmoil in the locker room.
Maybe that's true.
But like the O. G.
Is the Patrick Beverley Montrezl Harrell, Lou Williams landing like that teams the people that was there the year before, they definitely had that chemistry.
They almost they almost upset the Warriors.
But there are two wins away from upsetting the Warriors.
Yeah, so they have that chemistry, and I feel like it's a huge loss for the Clippers.
Yeah, Yeah, I agree.
I think e think Trez kind of hurt himself a little bit because of, you know, the He got a lot of the blame when the Clippers were up.
Three won and lost.
Um, as did Doc Rivers.
Um and I think you know, in a very real way, it was probably time for try as Thio leave.
But I think Clipper fans were really upset that he left to the lake.
Yes, eso that that's rough, but yeah, the combination he had with Lou Williams was absolutely.
And I want e think he'd have a hard time finding that anybody else, but we'll see.
Um, I think that the Michael Green loss is a big deal.
Jungle Green was is not a big name player that your average basketball fans not gonna know who he is, but he's the kind of guy you know Doc Rivers, you.
However you felt about Doc Rivers, he used to.
Michael Green is kind of a wild card.
He'd play anywhere he hit big threes.
Um, defend adequately.
Hey, was a good piece that was reliable.
And you're not a big money guy.
Um, so guys like that high production, low cost or hard to find.
And that's what you're Michael Green was.
And yeah, I think losing him it's gonna be It's gonna be tough.
Now that takes us to the news.
You broke, you know, forget Whoa, That was ah Romo bomb.
Because you're the person who told me, um, Serge Ibaka.
Now that helps a lot, right? That helps a lot, because now you're looking at Yeah, Trez and Lou Williams were great and like you said, very rare to have 26 million years.
Yeah, on the same team.
But it was It was It was It was It was weird in a way because, you know, you had two guys that were scoring and the other guys didn't get a whole lot of looks because most of the shots in the second unit were taken.
They were digging in my trash and they were taken by the Williams.
So now I think maybe there'll be a little bit more balance on the second unit.
I think Lou Williams is gonna be, you know, undeniably the guy who is called on to shoot and put the ball in who for the second unit.
So I think that balance might be better for the Clippers.
And, of course, now the sting of losing somebody like John Michael and Montrezl is lessons.
It because you pick up what we said at the kickoff of this stream.
Kind of a big name, right? And Sergio Baca was a big name that other people wanted and clippers got him.
So, you know, good on them.
One thing I wanted to say about the clippers and I think this is really interesting to me.
The Clippers have got a really, really good front office.
Um uh, Lawrence Frank, I think one executive of the year.
Let's hear if I'm not mistaken, it's always, you know, right? Yeah.
And I don't think you know, when you when you win it, when you when you get somebody.
Like when somebody makes a decision to come play with for you, you shouldn't get it for that.
You know, Uh oh, I decided I get executive of the year, you know, great.
But what the Clippers do really good is a trade off all their picks, which you know, oftentimes is ridiculed.
And I get it because that's how you build.
But look at what they did.
They had the 57th pick the Clippers did after trading away everything, and they're gonna have the same situation for years to come.
Because of the Paul George Trade had the 57th pick.
They traded that away and they ended up getting in return the 55th pick and the 33rd pick, right? So they had one pick traded it away and got to heart picks.
That, to me, is the sign of a really good executive to do to to pull something out of nothing.
That costume stuff, of course.
A custom shaman who's a really good player.
And I think he's gonna be have a good career and McGruder.
But to start at X and to end up it, a couple levels higher, a baby is not bad.
And the Clippers tend to do that pretty regularly.
So, um yeah, we'll see.
Like we said before, I think the Clippers course set.
You know, now they got Serge Ibaka.
I think you know, that's it.
I think they're done.
For the most part, I think that the Lakers big piece, of course, is Anthony Davis now.
Obviously, it's not gonna happen.
But what if 80 cents somewhere else? Can you imagine that seismic? I mean, obviously it's written in stone that he's going to Los Angeles.
But nowadays, with all this blockbuster news happening, the left and right John Wall requesting to trade out of nowhere yesterday, who knows? Maybe eighties close with Rondo and Dwyer or something, and he's Why don't you bring him back? And maybe some other team comes up like, Hey, you could be the spot on our team and you could lead this team for the next 10 years to a championship or whatever join us.
And if that were to happen in the 1% chance that happens, I asked me Chicago, that's where he's from.
And he said that eventually, neither one day, Uh, where to happen.
Chicago way instantly trade off a lot of assets to clear cap space for him.
I know that for a 5% but I think it's still 100%.
Yeah, listen, e.
I think it's 99% right, and there's that 1% chance.
So the only reason I bring it up, but I wasn't going Thio kind of sent.
You are talking points.
We'd email. Not this wasn't in there.
Um, the only reason I'm bringing it up is because, you know, the Knicks released a bunch of players.
Um, and my first thought was that the clearing room, they want to make a run for a D.
Because you know, if you and I know he's from Chicago and he wants to play in Chicago.
But, you know, LeBron said when he left Cleveland second time, it was gonna be either for L.
A Staples or Madison Square Garden.
in the Knicks. Right? That's where you wanna play.
Right? Um, that's what these guys wanna play.
That's where they wanna be.
And to turn the Knicks around would be epic.
Um, I'm not saying it's gonna happen, not predicting it.
I'm not saying anything like that, but I think it besides me it would just change everything and maybe just just kind of just like e got my ring.
I go somewhere else, huh? That would break MBA Twitter if that were to happen.
Can you imagine? Can you imagine? Not on.
All right. Well, cool. That was great.
Uh, stay close to your phone.
I got I got mine.
But it's on silent.
So you are our correspondent right now.
I said about your team, the Boston Celtics, and this is where I always differ, because I don't know the Celtics that Well, I don't watch this coast basketball very much, but I can tell you this.
I could tell you that they lost Gordon Hayward.
They lost Brad Wanamaker and they lost.
And it's cancer.
We talked about the dump of that, his cancer already.
So let's talk about the other two.
Because he's just these air surprising.
I mean, Hayward was not the player with the Celtics that he was with the Jazz.
Poor guy was hurt a lot.
And you feel for him as a fan I wanna make.
It was a solid, sturdy player I played, you could trust, and he left for the Warriors.
Those air, you know, and again, cancer is a good piece.
You like him Eso these air Three big pieces that that left the Celtics.
So I'm gonna ask you to park questions.
The Celtics panned number one Who's the biggest loss, like we asked you for the others and the number two to the Say something about the Celtics.
Now the organization that you've got these players Not so much cancer, but the others who? I'm just assuming here because e certainly could have stayed.
He chose to leave.
So they say something about the franchise.
I'm glad you answer that.
Asked that second question, but I do want to talk about that.
But first I answer your first question.
The biggest loss has to behave Word.
I'm currently in a love hate relationship with the Boston media.
Not the people who are, like verified.
But the comments sections.
Yeah, sure of all year.
Just trashing Hayward because, you know, it's it's his fault.
He broke his leg because he totally doing that.
And it's his fault.
Like that contract obviously didn't work out the way the Celtics thought I would, Um, and all year he I mean, there's the moments he missed wide open layers, which I mean, you're an N b A player really shouldn't do that.
But I just didn't like going on social media.
Just seeing how many people just trashed the dude.
And it's like, All right, let's relax and then he leaves.
And then people are like, Why did you leave? And it's like he's leaving Boston to go to Charlotte to one.
Probably be with fans that will support him.
Like for sure, like he's probably the best all Star person they've signed in a very long time and to no one is offering him that 30 million anymore, right? If he was told by his agent, Hey, if you opt out of that Celtics deal, there's a team out there that might offer you 40,000,030 million for the next four years, and the reported numbers out for the Pacers was, I think, like 25 million and the Knicks was 20 million stuff like obviously, thirties.
If you're Hayward, you want longer stability because you don't know he gets hurt every single year he is.
He's out least two weeks at least once a year, which is a horrible I love Hayward, I think, is a good guy.
I don't I don't wish that upon him like a bunch of other people are.
But I think Hayward was so underappreciated by Celtics fans last year that I think that that is such a huge loss for the Celtics, and we're gonna switch that second question.
It's been it's been discussed on Twitter of Is it? Do we start blaming Danny Ainge for Kyrie, Horford and Hayward, leaving for nothing? But first, I want to clarify.
There's a report first earlier today that said there's no sign and trade between the Hayward and the Celtics, but there's a report a couple hours ago that said they're actually still talking about it.
So if it's a trade exception, the Celtics need a wing.
They lost one of the best wings, so they need a wing.
So maybe trade exception in the pick.
There's some rumors that they might go after Bogdan Bogdanovic.
And if they did that, yeah, Bogdanovich that zio.
But if you dissect the three people who were talking about who left one Kyrie, well, he's Kyrie.
He didn't really want to play in Boston.
He wanted to go home the whole time.
So, in a way that's not Angels fall.
He just wanted to play around.
I think his grandpa, like, wanted him to play in Brooklyn, so he wanted to play for Brooklyn.
Horford's like 34th, 35.
Right now, there was no way Boston's gave him a four year whatever it was 120 something million dollar contract.
And look how horrible that contract turned out in the NBA.
So I mean, there, that's kind of a victory frames.
Yes, it's a huge thing to lose it, but at that price I'd let him walk to, And also that center position wasn't as bad as most people said.
What and three is Hayward and kind of what I mentioned a little earlier.
Same thing as hey as Horford, you got paid bucks in the Celtics would be dumb if they did the exact same extension.
So you can't really blame the Celtics on that Hayward.
I think he opted out because he realized that he is the fourth option.
And he needs to get paid now on a team that's rebuilding because this offseason was just pure rebuilding team with cap space.
The Knicks, Oxford Hornets, Piston.
So he thought, Okay, one of these teams are going over.
Pay for me, and I'm gonna actually be a number one option.
I'm gonna improve my stock and become an All Star again.
So are the calls.
They said MJ called him the night before and said, Hey, here's this offer.
Take it or leave it.
It's like 10 million more than the Pacers and Knicks were offering.
So he's like, All right, I'll take it.
And there you go.
So I don't think it's Angels fault.
A lot of people were jumping on a change today and it made me sad to see, but yeah, I don't think it's dangerous.
Well, I just think the Celtics of hit the 2018 2019 season ruined us, basically, is the summary.
It ruined us that whole second round finished Kyrie fiasco.
It just ruined us.
All right, well, let's talk about with the lake apartment move with the Celtics gained.
All right, So try and end this on a good note for the green because they did lose some big stuff, but they picked up Tristan Thompson.
Um, they picked up Jeff Teague, which you told me about.
I didn't have that one down.
Um, not sure the Teague is going to be a real impact player, but Tristan Thompson might be.
I mean, he's not the kind of player that you want to rely on, but as a you know, you mentioned that a word was the fourth option.
Okay, being the 4th, 5th option.
Just picking up rebounds.
Put him back in.
He That's his game. He's okay.
So I think he's a better fit there.
Maybe than Hayward Waas.
Not necessarily a big fan of the guys game or of the guy, I guess.
Maybe just the social media persona, but as a player in a team with stars, I think he's a good fit.
What do you think? Are you happy with that? Pick that that gained for the Celtics.
I was sitting on a couch watching college football, and then I saw on my phone.
Chris and Haynes tweeted, and I'm just like all right.
Haines has been announcing a bunch of the two way contracts.
A bunch of these low people, and it's Tristan Thompson.
And you know, when you open the notification, you see the first line it just as Tristan Thompson has agreed to a deal.
And I'm like, Okay, it's gonna be like the thing it goes with the Boston.
I'm like I jump out of my seat.
I looked at my phone, read it again.
I'm like, What? Because change has been wanting Thompson.
I think since, like 2015, like he's every year.
There was all those rumors.
My trade for Thompson aid, my trade for Thompson, and he finally gets his guy.
And I think this guy is an amazing sit in Boston.
There was a stat that came out today.
Thompson average 10 plus rebounds in the past two seasons.
The last Celtic The average 10 rebounds was in 2006 and 2007 with Al Jefferson.
Really, Boston has rebounding for so long.
Cancer gave him rebounding, but his defense was horrible.
They couldn't play him that much.
But Thompson has a as I mean, I'll let him play defense way better than cancer.
That that entered the Thompson upgrade is amazing on Angels part amazing.
And people were giving him, like I told you, that everyone was telling fire him, and there was actually like a movement to fire and it was crazy.
I was like, Why? Just free agency is like, not even 24 hours in.
And these guys wanted change.
Fired like black.
Have the public's account and I told everyone, Relax, relax.
The guys like, Well, he's missing on everyone.
Why would relax? An hour later? Oh, Celtics scientist and Thompson an hour later.
Oh, Celtics on Jeff Teague.
He goes, Oh, sorry, You guys need to relax.
This This just started.
Blockbuster trades could still happen.
Westbrook's out their walls out there hardens outboard.
Yeah, just started, and I get the season literally, I think a month from tomorrow away.
Stupid. Yeah, yeah, but it's just started.
It's just getting hot out there.
But Thompson is such a good fit.
He's one of the best the rainbow and the Celtics have had in years.
Like you said, he fits him perfectly.
He's not gonna demand the ball.
He's not gonna again.
Cancer was good in the Post, but he's not gonna demand the post like cancer did a lot, Um, anti IgE, like you said, It's not like a back in 2015 if you told me.
Oh, Jefty, Santa Celtics like No way.
Jeff Teague sent the Celtics what the Celtics did there, and I know what they did.
There was Kimball.
Walker's needs been kind of a problem for them, I guess, and they just go.
Who's a backup out there who can actually occasionally spot up start for us? Because I guarantee you Kemba Walker is not gonna play most the back to back this year.
So we wanna have, like, a starting point guard out there, and he probably said, All right, I'll play off the bench.
And when Walker can't play, I'll play, too.
Yeah, and I really stoked about teak, not really, because I never really liked.
He dribbles the ball a lot from might have heard.
It's not really the best, but he's definitely an upgrade, in my opinion, over Wanamaker in my Like he's ever wanna make her, um and yeah, that's what Right now there's some.
Like I told you, there's some talks about them being Bogdanovich and if they did that, it's over.
It's over, back together. That's the one.
So Okay, alright.
You know, it's the blessing of the curse of free agency, right? We talked about the blessing of the curse of the draft.
The blessing of the Christian Free Agency is you've got all these people, you know, with a phone and a Twitter account.
You know, they're just blasting in every pic or every lack of pick or the one I love the most is, you know, why don't they trade Rondo for Jonah's? I mean, come on, just dumb stuff.
Those ones, those ones were like, Why? I want to do it.
I want to do a whole street where we just call out the top 10 dumbest trades.
You know, in Twitter, I think that we find her like, Why don't we trade Heyward for, like, James Harden? Great idea and age is like I hadn't thought of that.
What I know, I know it's a blessing and a curse.
But, you know, now you know the dust is settling.
But you call this name out a couple of times, so let's finish with this.
There's still some good players out there, right? Some that are available, some that wanna be available, right? So you made the right pick.
You mentioned Westbrook Harden Well, but about Donna Vich is still available.
He was on my list.
He's gonna Marcus saw still available.
Markieff Morris is still available, and I don't think that the Lakers have no money to bring him back anymore.
And, of course, there's a 1% chance that Anthony Davis is still available.
Particularly, he's still available, so we'll see how that plays out.
That's what we want to talk about today.
My hope is that we'll meet again next Saturday.
We're going to try and reach out Thio our friends at statement games, ot heroics, trying to get more people connected.
Peach basket exists to be the voice of a fan.
We want to hear what you guys think we want.
We are you guys were just fans, man, we're just fans of the game.
And when anything happens, we enjoyed just kind of getting together and talking about it just like this.
So, uh, that was the run back.
That was the week in review.
I think Mawr dominoes will fall.
So we will likely be back next Saturday with another edition to run it back.
Just about now is when Tony's theme music will start playing.
