Hey, what's up? Everybody? Try and get some stats pulled up here.
Mhm, solid game and get the tweet out and we'll talk about it.
Hawkeye. Postgame! Yeah.
All right, everybody.
We're gonna get going Here I am, Garrett, from Iowa of Unwrapped Sports Network.
And we are going live tonight with a little bit of Hawkeye postgame.
I'm working on getting some stats pulled up, but Holy ****, What a game.
Game or of a game? Just It was pretty much what I expected to happen.
Uh, Iowa came out and beat Iowa's very beat. Penn State.
Yeah. I knew it was gonna happen.
Uh, so, yeah, that's a long in the short of it again, to some specifics.
Here are offensive and defensive line were untouchable.
Uh, Van Valkenburg made an appearance.
Got a lot of good hits like Good place did not get to the quarterback, which was kind of disappointed.
After his three sack performance last week, Linda Bomb had a great game at center, came out last week.
He was the number one rated center in college football.
Uh, Alaric Johnson. Sorry.
Jackson had a great game at old line to our D line.
Like I said, Been Valkenburg had a great game.
Gholston had a great game.
Uh, Dixon with the pick at the end of the game in the 71 yard return where he juked Clifford out of his shoes was just beautiful, man.
I mean, you love to see it.
Penn State did play two quarterbacks.
Um, not really kind of a surprise there.
I was not surprised to see the backup start.
I was kind of surprised the Clipper come in.
That was one point in the game that I got tad bit nervous.
I mean, not like super nervous because they never got closer than 10, but definitely a little nervous for a minute there when Clifford first came in and ran to place and had two touchdowns, that but then Clifford was his usual self and through two picks, one tipped up in Gholston, got it, and then, uh, the other one, Dixon picked and took a 71 yards for a TD to put him up 20.
And that gave us our final score.
Ah, solid performance from Iowa.
361 yards of offense, 186 yards in the air, 175 on the ground average, five yards per play.
The offensive, lined like I mentioned earlier, just pushed them all over the place all day.
And our defensive line pushed pens offensive Penn State's offensive line all over the field all day as well.
I mean, it's great to be a Hawkeye fan right now.
Yeah, it just is, especially after that disastrous start to the season.
We have been on fire after those first two games and just rolling over people.
Okay? Solid first half a little bit closer than I expected that half e.
I guess I shouldn't say I expected a little bit closer.
I was hoping for at half, but right, I said this in the pre the preview show, uh, wrote about it in an article for pre game.
It's on unwrapped sports dot com.
If you want to check it out, uh, shout out them, and also real quick unwrapped sports dropped.
Merge today the links on my Twitter you can follow me at Garrett from Iowa.
They've got some good ****.
I got in order in already.
Um, probably gonna have another one in before Christmas because, yeah, a lot of cool **** on there, So check that out.
But yeah, Like I said, this Penn State offense is dangerous, and I I was deeded a pretty good job holding them, But clippers good.
The back up to the, uh, love us he's good to Both of them are dangerous on the ground and in the air.
So really impressed by how Iowa held the running backs to basically nothing the entire game.
The running backs didn't do anything all game.
Penn State side just could not get past the line of scrimmage.
Kept getting blown up.
We did give up quite a few Q b around, especially to Levis it.
Just at one point, he was the team's leading rusher.
Hey, ended up with 15 carries for 34 yards and ended the game The teams leading rusher.
I knew that we dominated their running backs, But holy ****, that's embarrassing.
Your quarterback that didn't even play the whole game is your leading rusher with 34 ****ing yards.
You love to see it mhm around all the rest of the rushing Clifford at 66 carries for 13 yards.
Holmes had six for eight.
Uh, Caylee had four for six and D forward with three carries for two yards, and the guys just could not go anywhere.
So yeah, it was just It was a really fun game to watch.
Iowa came out and performed.
Petra's had a solid game, 18 for 2800 and 86 yards.
No picks, which is awesome.
He had one throw that probably should have been a pick, but got dropped, thankfully for us, But other than that, he did a pretty good job of making good decisions.
Did overthrow a couple guys.
But like I said, from the get go, this guy, he's got talent, but he's definitely a work in progress, so we're just going to kind of have to grow with them and let the offensive line in the Russian game carry it.
Which they have been.
Sergeant was big leader this game, surprisingly after the last week, but Sergeant had 15 carriers for 101 yards and two t. D s.
Part of bomb Holy **** that fullback Potter bomb.
He's not going to show up on any stat seat, but he was the star of the game.
That guy was rolling through holes like a freaking Sherman tank, just looking for somebody to blow up.
One big run play took out the middle linebacker.
There's another run.
Play took out a defensive lineman.
Just he's got those big, bulky shoulder pads with the deal around his neck that make him look huge.
And he was just running guys over all day.
What key block on sergeant? Second touchdown run.
I mentioned that at the halftime, but yeah, he just solid, solid ****ing game.
Goodson, 20 carries for 78 yards.
They were definitely keying on him, especially early in the short pass Game. Kind of took that away.
And then second quarter around the running game pretty much took over because Petra's did a good enough job that they had to respect the past game and just gonna load up the box every place.
So, uh, Kelly Martin made an appearance this game to three carries, 13 yards solid.
Uh, the sweeps and the pitches were not really working very well.
This game, with the exception of Sergeant first touchdown run that was on a pitch out.
But other than that, uh, Penn State seemed pretty keyed up on those, so I was a little disappointing.
Um, receiving was just all over the place.
Uh, we had Let's see you.
345678 different guys with receptions.
Regain the lead the way with four catches for 46 yards. Laporta.
Man, that guy's turned into a stud.
Next, George Kittle Right there, man.
But yeah, he rocked out three catches, 32 yards.
Solid ****ing target, Smith.
Brandon Smith caught three for 27 Smith.
Marceca caught a pair for 25.
Buyer had a big, big catching.
A big run after the catch rocked out for but one of his two catches, 24 yards total.
Tracy had two for 22 a couple more targets in there that weren't passes, not on target for him.
So that was a little unfortunate because that guy can be good and Goodson had one out of the backfield for eight yards.
Had our boy pot a bomb one catch in the flat for two yards on a checkdown play.
But, man, that guy was everywhere.
You love to see it. Hope now.
Pft commentator Barstool fame.
He does a fullback assists and this guy gets all the fullback assists.
He opened up a whole that got sergeant in.
He basically carried Spencer in tow.
Get the touchdown to cap off the first half on a 53 2nd drive.
It was just man.
Okay? This game, it was quiet.
And it was everything you love to see out Iowa football.
They just They ran the ball through short, smart passes and just ate up chunks of yardage.
At the end of the first quarter, there was a stretch that they went four plays and four first downs.
Mhm is knocking off 12 15 yards of play.
It was just You love to see it.
You love to see it.
Defense did force four turnovers, two fumbles and two picks on Clifford Clifford.
Actually, it was funny if he didn't come in till late in the third and Levis went 13 for 16 for 106 no TVs, no picks.
And then Clippard came in 13 for 20 to 174 yards and two t d s.
No, Like I mentioned earlier, that was one of the few times I got a little bit nervous on this game is when Clippard first came back in and, uh, looked like the quarterback.
Everybody said he was pre season, but he soon gave up the one pick.
After I got the two d d two t d s.
He threw a bad pass that got kicked up into the air.
Gholston came down with it and then on a drive that I don't really think it would have put him back in the game.
But that's what they were trying to do.
They were down by.
I don't even know.
I can't remember now exactly what the score was, but they were down by more than one score driving, trying to get back within striking distance, hoping to get the ball quick and Nixon there.
Sorry, Dixon picked the ball up and ran it back 71 yards, has a D lineman and going down the side.
Clifford had him dead to rights, and he just gave him a little juke move, made him look silly and then took it.
The rest of the way.
Oh, it was beautiful.
I know I got my makeup here, but I'm smiling.
I'm smiling like a cat and **** right now, because, man, that was beautiful.
You just absolutely love to see it coming.
Like I said, couple forced fumbles.
I actually think there was a bit.
There's at least three, maybe four, and Iowa got back two of them.
So a couple fumble recoveries at key times just killing drives.
I'll see how many times we first Onley four punts, which was kind of surprising you with a final 41 21 way the defense was playing.
You have thought there'd been mawr punts, but they did stop them cold on to fourth down attempts that Penn State probably should've pundits.
So that would kicked it up to six, which would have been more in line with what you expect, right? So but, yeah, just sum up the overall again.
361 yards Offense.
186 passing, 175 rushing, averaging 4.
9 yards per play.
24 1st down, seven for 15 on third.
Uh huh, they actually punted five times, which is one more than Penn State like that's kind of surprising.
But defense did have those 2/4 down stops that affected that.
Obviously, uh, six penalties for 45 yards.
Kind of need to clean that up a little bit.
Had a couple that cost us on the offensive side of the ball on a legal formation a couple holds, uh, the one hold by Jackson.
I don't really have a problem with, because you just you can't let your q b get smoked from the blind side like that.
You gotta hold and you're gonna get called for it or you're not.
But a couple other ones weren't really necessary.
And we did have.
And this is gonna be a part of the growing pains, and it's also goes back.
Thio when Iowa wins games, stuff doesn't matter, because I kind of forgot about it till just now.
Petraeus did fumble a snap that Penn State recovered so that that was a little ugly, um, kind of luck of the draw their to it took a couple funky bounces and ended up on Penn State's side of the line of scrimmage.
Most of those the quarterback or the center could just drop on them right away, so that was unfortunate.
But that's going to be part of the growing pains and part of coming back to Iowa.
Winning when I will win.
**** like that gets forgot.
I said that the first two weeks, like when Peters had the three interceptions against Northwestern but had the opportunity to win the game at the end.
If he would have won the game at the end, those three interceptions would not have mattered.
It just they weren't enough e.
I mean, they went into the coaching staff, but as a fan base, we would largely forgot about him because Northwest because we win the game.
But instead he screwed up at the end again like he had been the entire game.
And, yeah, so we definitely I got a little mouse behind me, that's all.
But yeah, definitely had some fun, like the game, just a regular Iowa ground and pound him, wear him down, win the game performance from Iowa.
Uh, definitely have a little bit more on Thursday's show.
I think I'm gonna dio six o'clock central time for Thursday night shows going forward just so I cannot get Thursday Night football picks out, I might even move them toe Wednesday.
I'm kind of bouncing around a little bit.
Um, it'll be on my Twitter feed.
