Of course, today I'm joined by the team.
The squad As always, we got Kwan a k a otr Kwan b k a big Grew up with a corn? Yeah, Happy Saturday, everybody.
A great day to be mot all sport and an indulgence.
Cem, Cem, Cem Good sports basketball football wise.
How's everybody doing? Okay, great man. Great.
We also got Brandon a k a otr Brandon BK, the hair weave puller.
What up, Brandon z Good.
Yeah. Feeling good.
And then we have Alex.
Mr Laker Central 3 65 b k a big snow.
Whatever Alex was Papa.
What's going on, man? Let it be.
No, I was the first of Bank Jeezy around our way.
You know what you were writing for Jeezy around that time, everybody was ride for 50 Cent.
But we're going.
We're going to save that for another episode that we got coming up on that.
So yeah, man, let's get to it.
We otr sporting today.
Ah, lot of news.
A lot of things going on, especially in the NBA, with free agency and the draft.
That happened recently, but I wanted to start man with some unfortunate news.
Um, Clay Thompson.
Man, you suffered a season ending Achilles tear while working out.
He's coming off of another season ending injury with a a c l tear.
So it's a tough break for this brother, man.
Obviously, this is huge.
Huge implications for the Golden State warriors and their season coming up.
But what do you guys think about this unfortunate news, man? I'm gonna start with you, Brandon.
I like you said it's unfortunate.
Clase most definitely one of the best, if not the best shooter in the league, especially coming off screens off ball shooter. Whatever.
Um, Golden State has a lot of talent.
I think they're still going Thio miss him.
This will hurt their chances of contending, but I still think there'll be a strong team.
Hopefully, Clay comes back healthy and the Knicks pick him up somehow.
What about you, Alex? I know, you know, obviously your Lakers fan, as we could see you like you, like a geared up.
But you always hate to see this type of stuff.
I know this was an injury that Kobe dealt with himself.
What do you think about this, man? How do you think this? How do you think Golden State will play this out, man? And are they still a playoff team without clay? Well, they make what they where they make any noise in the playoffs without clay.
I mean, what sucks that glaze dealing with this tours? A C l is right.
A CEO, I think the last season this all year now he's dealing with his left Achilles.
They're saying the way the Achilles tour, he will return to 100%.
I'm always skeptical.
Achilles is the worst injury you can have as a basketball player.
So I'll who knows what he looks like post Achilles and his father.
You know Michael Thompson, the next Laker.
So you know, much respect the Thompsons.
It sucks for him.
Like two years of rehabbing.
It's almost like the Marcus cousins to major injuries.
Back to back years, you're in the prime of your career.
But the good thing about play, at least he got paid already.
That's the first thing he's got.
Three rings, by all accounts, will be in the Hall of Fame if he never plays a basketball game again.
So there's there's that part of it, Um, in terms of the Warriors, there are a lot of people that think that the Warriors roster.
There's some of the pieces they've recently added that they can.
They can not only make the playoffs, but make noise in the playoffs as like uh, maybe four or five seats.
Um, that's ridiculous.
Like just That's just that's just ridiculous.
They're not out of the top three teams in the West.
Everybody else is irrelevant.
They really are.
And so, like faras far, Steph goes, He should probably go.
James Harden averaged 35 a game, but Steph is also 33.
So, like he's, you know, in, you know, just go balls Hard, man.
Average 30. 35 a game.
I mean and Rider Duyvil, Steph.
Otherwise, I mean the warriors.
At least they got there.
Three rings. That's how I see it.
I saved you for last man because you yourself personally dealt with, Um, it wasn't Achilles.
What? You had a serious knee injury at one point in time.
And you, of course, were an athlete.
Man, go into a little bit of give recovery.
How long it took you to recover and and how you feel now, man, like, do you think Clay will return to form now? Mind you, he's coming off of like Alex said to Siri's injuries.
Back to back seasons similar to the Marcus cousins.
Give us a little bit of knowledge on that corner and your own experiences with a serious injury like that.
Yeah, well, first and foremost, um, you know, my heart goes out to to, you know, to play and his family about this major injury.
Kelly's It's tough, it's tough.
It's it's something the way you're dealing with tenants and not more so muscles.
So, you know, get having it reconstructed is one thing.
And I think the with nowadays with the sports medicine and and the doctors, um, you know, time only tell.
But, you know, my heart goes out to him because that's a major injury.
Um, and then having to go through what he went through in the past was dealing with his his his previous injuries, you know, preexisting injuries, the things that he had to go through it.
So the mental aspect of it he has, you know, he has to go through that again.
You know, the grew the way of tear the physical therapy, the mental aspect of being able to feel comfortable when he comes back from that particular injury to go and and and try to play at a, you know, at a high at a high level to where he wants waas.
So you know, you got to take all that into consideration.
The great thing about it is he's young, you know.
He's not old, you know he can he can somewhat, you know, do what he needs to do to to work, work it out until, you know, just to try to the best job he can with, you know, the particular injury that he's facing.
But it's tough, you know? He's probably thinking like, you know, he's probably having, ah, confidence complex when when it comes to that particular you know, his injury, what he has to do to get back, so it's not gonna be easy.
But at the same time, he's a professional.
He knows what comes with the territory, and, you know, I think he'll be able to bounce back.
I don't know if he'll be able to bounce back in the sense of how he waas.
You know before because, like I said, you know, when you're dealing with, Attendant's a little bit tricky and basketball players, you know you're consistently jumping, you know you consistently using that tendon.
So it's only only time will tell, um, but, you know, he actually continue to work hard.
He got to continue to, you know, if he wants to be at a level and what's the point? If he wants to play at an all pro level and you know and play hide and do what he needs to do, then, you know, I mean, he'll do what he needs to do. It comes with the territory.
So only time will tell Man on the only time will tell.
I hope everything goes well for him, though, you know, But it's gonna be It's gonna be a hard it's gonna be a hard recovery, but it's a It's a process that you know he could do and he could get over it.
Yeah, it's unfortunately, it's unfortunate fortunate for the brother I.
One thing I will say is, you know his strength with one of his strengths, but I'll say his his biggest strength is his shooting.
So I feel like he could come back.
It's still be ineffective shooter, a spot up shooter, Um, you know, and that will extend his career for a couple more years.
I think it'll be tough for him to be the defensive player that he waas.
That was his other strength.
Um, you know, typically guarding the best player on the floor for the other team.
I think that would be tough man coming off of these two major injuries, but he's a shooter and want your shooter you always got a place in this league.
So I think he'll survive and he'll find a place in this league somewhere.
So, uh, moving on, man, We had the draft this week.
There's a lot going on in the NBA, man.
And we had to draft, and I'm about to throw up the the draft board.
Here's Here's Round one.
Of course, we had Anthony average going one out of Georgia.
Um, you know, this draft was it was a solid draft.
This was to me one of those drafts that was filled with players that I don't wanna call them role players with, like, depth, depth guys like, you know, to give your team that extra player that can That could make some noise.
I want to start with you again, Brandon.
You know, your Knicks fan is we could see by your by your hoody.
You guys took Obi Topping.
Man number eight.
How you feeling about that? And how you feeling about the next draft in junior in general? I feel great.
I mean, it's on paper.
We don't know what these guys any of these guys are gonna do once they get on the floor.
No way could make all the predictions we want, but I liked it.
I like, um Oh, be topping.
Hey, Seems like a very exposed to play.
I mean, I'll be honest with you.
Like I don't watch much college basketball.
I don't really pay attention to the prospects until they get drafted.
And then that's when I start looking at him.
Um, but from what I've seen of Obi Topping him and Mitch, you're gonna be a problem on the front line.
Uh, I just hope that, you know, way Stay healthy.
Um, some of the other picks that we got, we got Emmanuel quickly from Kentucky.
Um, What? We got him in the trade.
I was I was happy with that.
I know. Stephen A. Smith was.
You know, he was making a fuss about how he wanted us to draft a guard Tyree's Halliburton, which is also an interesting situation there because they extended Darin Fox.
So they got two pretty good point guards there.
Wonder wonder what they're gonna do.
But, I mean, we got back to the Knicks.
We got Emmanuel quickly, all SEC player late in the first round on Ben.
You know, after the draft, we picked up miles.
Miles Powell, who is a Sfar, is like awards and accomplishments in college.
He's Justus decorated.
His is the first two guys we got.
You know, uh, hey one, The Jury West Award is the best shooting guard Big East Player of the year, and consists for consensus.
First team, All American.
So we got him after the draft, so I'm excited about the young players were bringing in.
When the youngest team in the league, we just stay the course, stay the course.
I like what the front office is doing right now.
We're not We're not making desperate moves.
Um, we didn't over sell ourselves to get to get Russ, but I still think that's in the works.
So if we bring in Russ Whoa.
I might start to talk some **** this year.
Well, I mean, we all know that Alex is our resident in NBA Insider.
His team is on this board from making a pick of Jade and McDaniels.
But we all know, or if you don't know, that pic was a part of the dentist shoulder trade.
So Alex, outside of that deal that you guys made, which I know you're happy with any of these picks in the first round, Man that jump out to you or that you think we're good fits.
I know that you really, like lament A lament lowball landing in Charlotte, man.
So any picks on this board that you think? Well, you think we're good picks and and will work out for that team in the long run.
And I don't watch a lot of college basketball.
Um and so I'm not as familiar with these guys is Brandon is I think, as you mentioned, I'm a big yellow ball fan.
I like James Weismann.
Also, I thought he could have went number one, but, you know, things played out the way they did.
I'm really happy.
Let Melo ended up in Charlotte.
One of the best thing to me to come out of this draft.
Islam. Ella went to cook out when he went to Charlotte.
That, to me, is the best thing to come out of this draft.
Second part is that if you're Charlotte like you need to me, it's important.
Have a big name in a place like that.
Like why not give the mellow Baltra.
He's already a brand name, and he's probably the most well known guy on this entire board.
So people in Charlotte, when you're allowed to return to Arenas, he's probably going to sell out the arenas, right? I mean, uh, to me, I I like it a lot.
Other than that, um, I This is one of those drafts where, you know, people keep saying there's no LeBron or no shock at number one, anything like that.
But you might look back 10 years now, Seo, whether, you know, in the middle ground in the middle of the first round, there were guys like there were other guys.
Maybe there was a coup I or Kobe or whatever.
It was drafted later in around.
So it remains to be seen.
But I really like Lemelle a ball in Charlotte going How about you, man? I know, I know.
You know, the college basketball and MBA really isn't your thing.
But any of these pics, man, stand out to you.
I know you got some North Carolina running in your blood, man.
So you feeling that Lemelle a ball down that area? And I know I could speak to this and coming down to visit you when you live down there.
That him making a stop.
That cookout was a must.
Somebody hit him.
Somebody had to hit him.
Because whenever I was down there, I had to make a stop.
So any pics on here? That you feeling, man? Yeah, honestly, I have a few picks.
I'm not gonna be too long with it.
Long winded with it, but for one.
Those Carolina ties, the Lamento ball pick.
I think it was a really great pick for the city of Charlotte.
Um, I think the marketing aspect someone did give him game to actually go to cookout.
I think the market aspect of that was great.
So, you know, that's gonna be really big for for cookout.
I think the city just I think the city pretty much just needs that.
I think Lemelle a ball drop into Charlotte.
I think it was great.
I think the city needs a superstar to come in and to, you know, put put seats me put put behind and seats, um, sell tickets and, you know, bring that particular s****om to Charlotte.
I think it's time so I think that was great.
The other pick I'm really intrigued about is the cold Anthony pick.
Uh, he was a Carolina guy as well.
We're from New York.
But he played at, you know, played.
You would see the Tar Hills.
And he was He was He was rated pretty pretty good.
Pretty high as, ah, as a point guard.
So I want to see that pick.
I'm really intrigued about what Orlando is gonna do with that.
And, you know, I just I just want to see I just wanna see the young brother do well and his NBA career.
Now I like the Wizards.
So the ninth pick way we got the guy from Israel, Denny Abuja.
If I'm putting out from the last name, correct.
I'm sorry if I If I chopped it up, we'll run with that. Yeah.
So, like I said God from Israel, he was rated high coming out, coming out coming from Israel.
So I want to see what he could do.
I want to see what type of energy he could bring.
He was a, you know, first pick ninth overall.
So he's gonna have some minutes, so he's gonna have.
He's gonna have a chance to kind of shine and see what he can do.
Um, and the 26th pick Peyton.
Preacher I wanted I'm a little bit intrigued with this guy as well.
Uh, coming from the Pac 10.
He was, you know, he was player of the year.
So I want I want to see what he can bring to the Celtics.
Yeah, man, those those were all all good names, man, that you pointed out.
I wanna point out number 10 Jaylin Smith, man, your local guy, Baltimore kid, play for the Terps.
I wasn't expecting him to go in the top 10.
I was expecting him to go in the top in the first round, but I was happy to see that.
I think Jalen Smith will well, you know, thrive with point guard like CP three to get his career going.
So shout out to him.
There's a couple of local kids, man, that win the first round.
So shout out to those guys as well.
I'm gonna throw up here the second round, man.
Anybody any of y'all wanna jump in? Any of these picks stood out to you.
I will I'll start, man.
I'll start at 32 with Vern and carry Junior going to Charlotte.
I thought Charlotte had a really, really good draft with those first two picks.
But I was surprised, man.
I almost forgot about him.
Um, until his name was called, I was surprised that he fell to the second round.
He was, I think I believe he was a C C.
Player of the year.
Hey, put a solid numbers.
So I was a little surprised that he that he fell out of the first round.
I think this was the first year that Kansas Duke and I think it was one other.
The bigger the bigger name schools of the grassroots schools that didn't have a player go in the first round, which is wild and like, this is, like in 20 years or something, which is crazy.
So that's my guy.
Any any of y'all can jump in here and any of these names jump out to you that you're excited about or that you're interested in seeing get the n b A career started.
Um, Trey Jones sticks out.
Uh, you know, point guard at Duke.
Um I'm guessing he fell to the second round because because of his size, I mean, Coach K usually puts, um, at least some good, uh, rotational players into the league.
Really? I e don't know any of these guys.
What? I mean, if you wanna talk about folks that fell, though, what? What was interesting to me, um is that Kentucky back to, like, Emmanuel quickly in Maxie.
They got drafted late in the first round.
Like Kentucky players, usually they their top players are usually drafted, at least in the top 20.
They they fell **** it into the second round.
But, um, no, I the only one that really sticks out to me here that that I know about Oh, maybe Kenyon Martin Jr.
I wonder if he apparently he's not as good as his dad was.
But we'll see Trey Jones sticks out to me.
I I like to see how he does in San Antonio.
Um, I think coming from Duke to San Antonio that that's Ah, that's a pretty good fit.
What about you, Alex? And any of these names, man, that jump out to you shocked that they fell or you looking forward to seeing what they do in the league.
I wish all these guys success in N B A.
Another name, Man, I'll say, I'll say, Nico Mannion Man going to go to state And I don't know if they kept that pickle if they traded it.
But if they do, if they do have it Hey, could be a name to that.
Does some things for that Golden State team, especially with the entries that's going on Corn.
What about you? Any of these other? Any of these names that jump out to you? Yeah.
I mean, most successful, all of them.
All the young is that are going into the NBA.
So it's a major jump for me.
Kiss Kenyon Martin Jr.
Um, I've been reading up on him and we all know about Kenyon Martin Sr.
His father, the way he played and what he brought to the game and how scrapping he waas.
So I want to see what he's gonna do.
Honestly, I want to see if he's gonna bring that same intensity that you know his father brought.
Of course, you know, those are some big shoes to fill.
At the same time, you know he's gonna have the guidance from his dad and as well, you know, he's he's gonna have the coaching e mean So he's going to Sacramento.
Uh, I mean, a team that's not really, um, going anywhere at the moment.
Eso I mean, he'll have some time thio polish up their skills.
So I want to see what he's gonna do.
Yeah, Kid Martin Jr.
He had a little.
His route to the NBA is interesting.
He didn't go the traditional route.
He e think he did sign initially with Vanderbilt, I believe.
But he didn't play.
I think he might have did another.
He he did a prep year or year professional, something like that.
So maybe that's why he felt because he didn't go the traditional route with the college and playing again in college and stuff like that.
So But shout out to him and getting drafted.
Shout out to all these young boys and I do agree with you, Alex man, this is one of those drafts.
Like you said, there is no there wasn't no any can't miss players in this draft, right? Usually you got one and you got the future.
Sometimes there's a draft where you don't have the Anthony Davis is, and you know the players that you know are going to start in this league.
But this could end up being one of those deep drafts that, uh, one of those unexpected deep draft because it's it's full of players that you know may not be all stars or may not be, um, superstars, I'll say.
But might may end up being all stars later on in their career.
So shout out to all the young boys living their dream getting drafted to the NBA.
It's a big step.
So much success to them.
So also man outside of the draft.
Because again, this was a busy week for the NBA.
There was free agency that went on, so there was a couple of things couple signings last night.
Whoa, Judge Shams.
And as you could see out, insider is he's checking his phones right now, seeing what deals air coming in, as you could see.
So they've been working their folks.
Eso highlighted a few a few, uh, signings and trades that went on yesterday, one as we started the show talking about Klay Thompson.
Um, the Warriors got busy.
It made a move quickly to try to offset that injury a little bit by trading for Kelly Obre Junior.
Who's this? You know, he's a good player, man.
It feels like it feels like he's missing something.
Which then, you know, keeps his name off of certain list as being like the next player up.
We're almost close to being all star type player.
But you know, this kid can ball.
So quickly, man, What do you guys think about this move for Golden State? I mean, listen, he got some big shoes to fill, and we know he's not going to be Klay Thompson, but adding him to that roster.
You still have Aaron Wiggins? They just got Wiseman.
And then you still got Steph and Draymond, man, what do you think this does for that Golden State team? Start with you, Brandon.
Um, I this is Thank you for breaking the news to me.
I did not see that.
Um that is that is a significant move.
I thought Kelly uber, um I enjoyed watching him this past season in Phoenix when he was healthy.
If you remember Phoenix in the bubble, they were a problem.
I don't think you bray.
I'm not sure how much he played in the bubble off the top of my head, but I know he was injured at at some point throughout the season.
But uber a uber is a problem.
You know, if you said he's not Clay, I think you know he's a young player who's ascending as's faras, like, you know, pure shooters.
Of course, we gotta play up there as a police shooting.
But like you bray, I don't faras like raw talent is concerned.
I don't think he's far behind play.
I think he can. He can.
You know he might not be as good of a defensive players.
Clay was or as we thought he was.
But uber uber is a two way player.
He's a two way player. I could get up the floor.
He's got an outside jump shot.
He could take you off the dribble.
He finished his strong at the rim.
This is a significant move for for Golden State, at least for the regular season.
I don't know what you're gonna do in the playoffs, but he can he can ball.
I like this move for Golden State.
What about you, Alex? Man, what do you think about this Move for Golden State? No, Over is good man like he was somebody that was eyeing that Maybe the Lakers could try and make a tree for you.
He's a really good player.
Golden State has went from you having the greatest shooting backcourt of all time.
Also having Kevin Kevin Durant, who was one of the best shooter of all time to now you've still got stuff but uber and Wiggins ain't Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson like, no matter how you slice it, certainly not shooting wise.
So the style of play for Golden State probably has to change a bit if you're gonna have these two guys on the floor at the same time.
Draymond still there.
But he's older, right? And then now you got Weissman, who's a rookie.
So you've got you Bray Wiggins and Wiseman, who have, you know, never sniffed an MBA finals and don't have the kind of experience that drain clay dust.
So I, uh, they have to temper expectations like that's gonna be the thing for for golden Golden State's coming in saying, Oh, we're gonna compete for a championship like you probably need to quiet down a little bit, because when these guys maybe kind of falter under the spotlight, then it's gonna be their fault.
When I don't think that I think that they're fine players is they need time, man.
But I like uber a lot.
I really like him a lot.
What about you, Con man? Used to play for your squad.
The Wizards, Washington Wizards, Man, when you think about uber a ended up with the Golden State Warriors, Yeah, I'm shocked about this pick is well, but I think it's a good pick.
He contributed when he played for the Wizards.
And, you know, look, he came out of Kansas.
Um, you know, he was a contributor.
He was a two way player.
Uh, you know, of course, things didn't work out in in D.
Um, you know, he went T 00 k c And then now Golden State have picked him up, and you're gonna always gonna have you.
You're gonna need someone to complement Clay, right? So what? I mean, why not go out and get a play and make that trade for him.
He's still young, and, like I said, he's a two way players.
So it was a good, you know, good pick.
Time will tell if it if it actually manifesting t something toe what they're looking for.
Just like you said.
If they're looking for championship, then I mean, that's a big question mark.
But if you if you if you kind of tailor the expectations to competing, you know, maybe going fall in playoff, then you've got a solid pick with this.
Yeah, man, it is a good pick up, man.
He had a career year last year.
Um, he averaged 18 points a game and he had a career high in rebounds for season, averaging about 6.5.
So he's a player that is trending up again.
They got big shoes to fill, and I guess you know they're looking to for him and Wiggins to, you know, somehow morph and because in and transform into one player to kind of close the gap with Clay Thompson.
But I do think it was a solid pick up for them sticking with the Wizards, man, listen, I tweeted about this move, Man Birds.
David Burton's man.
He got a five year, $80 million deal and I tweeted about the Wizards because they have, Ah, a tendency of giving out bad contracts.
And for me, this this says bad contract.
But I will say the Wizards fans on Twitter were very, very, very happy about this deal.
He is a knock down three point shooter.
He did lead the league in three point percentage.
I believe you can correct me if I'm wrong and what you all think about this deal, man.
Do you think he was overpaid? I know Brandon with me and you talked yesterday on the stereo at check Asylum stereo at, uh, you said the Knicks were Iron Burton's man.
So you you kind of had an eye on this guy.
We think about this move and this signing man for the Wizards.
I, um, having him on the roster, I think is a plus.
Not, you know, I'm whether the contract is bad or not.
I mean, you know, with wizards, well, the Washington sports teams in general just have a tendency to throw money at, You know, I felt like they felt like they had to keep him.
I think that's what this contract says.
Like, Yeah, we can't let to John Wall wants out now like I don't know.
I guess I'll final answer is this.
I like baritones.
I would have loved him on the Knicks.
Five year, 80 mil probably would have said, Alright, ain't **** changed with the Knicks were still throwing out contracts.
But I'm having this guy on your roster.
You He's a 6 10 guy who could fill it up quick.
So, um, congrats to him.
Um, the way just get to keep him.
But I don't know how much of ah, how much of a change is this is gonna be for the Wizards, especially if Wall leaves.
But good player. I like him.
Birth hands, man.
Yeah, I've resident NBA insider.
Was this over pay or did he deserve this type of contract? Now I will say that he did have a career year with the Wizards.
Hey averaged 15.
4 points a game.
That's up from his previous career high, which was around eight points a game.
He shot 42% from three point.
What do you think, man? I mean I mean, you know, it's modern.
MBA puts a premium on shooting, right? So he's white and he can shoot.
So I mean, that that generally will get you paid.
I think at teams have to do something and they got money.
They got to spend it right, Like you have to spend the money.
And if you look at what Joe Harris got to stay with the Nets, he got four years, 75 million, and he shot 42% from three, right? So if you're just looking at somewhat comparable to Davis Burton's, then if that's the market 70 80 million for shooter.
All right, then, you know, like I guess if they didn't spend it on him, who who were they going to spend it on? Yeah, I think I think for me that it's the length of the contract, more so than it is the dollar amount.
He's 20 years old, five years.
I mean, Burton is at 33.
I don't see him becoming like Dirk or anything like he's gonna be a rotational 6 10 guy who can fill it up from the outside so I mean, Burkle's isn't 33.
, you mean at the end of his contract, the contract will be 33.
This is a signing by your squad, man.
Do you think about them? What do you think about the wizards keeping Burton's now before you go there, they There's reports that bill in drywall.
We're recruiting him to keep them thio trying to talk him into staying with the team.
So what do you think about them keeping birth hands, man, I don't I don't like it, e I don't see why.
$80 million like for the euro step in the three point I I mean, look, I get it.
You need you have to pay the premium for shooter.
But you know, 80 like that, we could have spent that on us trying to get a superstar.
You know what I mean? Like, I just don't I don't see why we pay 80 million for that.
Yeah, I feel you, man, I you know, I don't like I don't like it.
I mean, yeah, I mean and then he s so he's not starting, right? He's coming off the bench.
I would hope he started getting this type of money.
E mean he played.
He played around 30 minutes a game for you.
Also, whether he started coming off the bench, he plays.
He plays a good chunk of minutes.
Okay, so he comes off the bench.
He played a good chunk. He averaged.
You said nine and then he came up from 9 to 15.
That's that's a good jump.
That's a really good jump.
But I just don't believe $80 million.
I just don't I don't see it.
We could have went somewhere else and use that to, you know, to get a premium player.
That that does mawr e mean that does more like, I mean, you play defense.
Um, I don't know.
I mean, just that that just I don't know.
It just seems like it's a boatload of money for ah player.
You're only getting a three point shot out off e feel you, bro.
I mean, hey like like Alex says a lot of blow the contracts going on, there's a premium on shooting.
I was just a surprise that Joe Harris contract.
Um, so I know, man, we'll see how it pans out.
But, I mean, listen, I'll never hate on people getting their money, Get them dollars.
Get what? Get what you feel you worth, get what? They give you what they offering.
But I thought this was right along the lines of the Wizards and their bloated contracts.
You know, along, you know, the the and Mimi's and those type of deals.
But we'll see, man.
We'll see how this goes now.
Unintentionally, man, we were kind of going along the lines against the Wizards.
This was unintentionally, but soon after this deal was signed, this came out.
John Wall has requested a trade from the Wizard.
Earlier in the week, there were comments made by Thomas Sheppard, who is the Wizards new GM.
And he said things along the lines like, you know, John Wall when I play major minutes for them anymore.
Um, he also they also was a rumor that John Wall was a part of a trade discussion that would send him to Houston for Russell Westbrook.
Listen, we don't We don't have toe spend a lot of time speculating on, you know this this situation, I figured something will come up out of it.
But, man, like, what do you guys think John Walker would fit? I'll put that out there.
What do you think he would fit? Um What team? Do you think he would be a good fit for Now, Here.
I'm gonna I'm gonna throw another image on the screen of, ah, few teams that people are saying he would be a good fit for, But I want to get y'all's expert opinion.
And on that, too.
Like here's Here's a few.
Some people think he'd fit well with the Clippers.
You know, Miami, the Spurs in Denver.
Um, start with you, Brandon.
Where would you like to see? I mean, hey, would he be a good fit for the Knicks? Uh, that would that would have been my first, uh, team.
I would have said, um, it again, it just depends on what we have to give up.
But I would welcome John Wall him or or Westbrook.
Um, what's interesting Here it I don't like Denver.
Why? I don't know.
E mean, you can't really pay attention to this like this.
This is what people think where he would be a good fit? I don't know.
Yeah, I'm not sure if they considering the current roster that they didn't.
Yeah, points just be talking.
Yeah, the thing The thing with John Wall is that again, he's a talented guy, but he's a guy.
I mean, he's a point guard.
He's gotta have.
He's gotta have the ball in his hands.
And to me, I still kind of consider him, I guess, like a value of volume score.
You know, he's not gonna give me 30 points a game on, like, 15 shots.
He's gotta have a ball. He's gotta control.
He's got to shoot.
And we were thinking a player like that and with Ross, said that the Knicks have, which, which is young.
Although I would like John Wall, it would be a concern of mine that Okay, you got to distribute the rock.
So you got you got some players around you, but there's a guy who could get to the rack.
I think he still has elite talent, but, you know, he's been in Washington for a while.
They haven't really done ****, so but yeah, well, um Alex, what do you think about this whole situation playing how it's playing out in D.
C with John Wall? I know.
Also it was The GM also came out and said they would now be moving towards building around Bradley Bill.
So they're saying that that also is something that stung John Wall in wanting to request this trade.
If he is traded, man, what is a good land spot for this guy? I don't know if there's a good landing spot at all right now.
Like if the Wizards could flip him for Westbrook, you do it.
John Wall played 41 games in 2017 18.
He played 32 games in 2018 19.
He didn't play this entire past year.
We haven't really seen John Wall like three years, man coming off two major injuries like his game was built on speed.
And if you're coming off of two major injuries like he is, it's fair to ask because he you know he like.
He's Steph Curry from three right? His game is literally built on speed.
If he can't get up and down the court when he used to, well, then his value is greatly diminished.
Not to mention he's making $44 million a year.
So, to me, is the Wizards air smart to try to build around Bradley Bill? Sorry, John Wall.
That's just That's just the truth, I think the Wizards saying that they're looking to part ways because he's throwing up gang signs. That's ridiculous.
John Walton throwing up signs now for years.
That's that's that's all a lie.
If anything, the reason why they're probably going to decrease his minutes is to try and make sure he doesn't get hurt again so they can try and move him.
That's probably what's going on, But, yeah, we just haven't.
It's kind of like with DeMarcus cousins, man, kind of like what we talked about Clay going forward.
You ain't seen a dude playing a couple of years.
You have no idea what they're gonna look like.
And again, wall.
If Walls primary scale was getting up and down the court, it's fair to ask he'll be 30.
Just about 30 I, I don't mean 30 is not old in the n B a anymore.
But two major injuries is e mean making $44 million for the next three years.
I have no idea where he would fit man.
Like even if the Knicks were to absorb his contract.
Let's say the Knicks pick him up and he has the same injury concerns.
Then what do you do with the? I mean, Dolan can afford it, But what do you do? You handicap yourself with the cap.
Unless if the Wizards are going to give you, like a future first round, pick two or some some something else wall man, I don't know.
He can't imagine they're gonna build around pill bills younger.
He's better with the third team all NBA this past season.
Like and he and he was there.
So yeah, that stability is availability like, but But Bill might be on his way out to quiet is kept, but you walk.
Can't be upset this Go on again, man.
I hate to keep bashing you man with your team.
When you think about John.
Well, I know you were John Wall fan.
Would you like to see the Wizards work this out? And he stays and they try to build around that nucleus between him.
Bill and now birth hands or, you know what do you What do you think? Do you think it's time for this for divorce of this of this marriage between him and the Wizards? Mhm.
Hold on Kwan e o call You call.
You was, uh, call you breaking in and out, man, you're frozen your frozen as well.
So well, I mean, why? Why? Coin works out his technical difficulties.
We'll keep going.
But I was I'm gonna throw this up here again for me.
I think John Wall in Miami is intriguing.
That's just me personally with that, you know, with that style that that team that, you know, mhm.
I don't know why you I don't know why, but it is kind of intriguing to me to see him in Miami or even with the Clippers.
I mean, she at this point where the Clippers got to lose clippers just gave 64 million of Marcus Morris so they can't afford John Wall E.
I mean, John Wall in Miami, John Wall is gonna have to come.
They have ah, culture that they built.
Like John Wall is gonna have to come in and kind of humble himself.
You know, some and not not be like, Yo, I need the ball.
You know, you get in where you fit in here.
Yeah, Cuando did you did you wanna make any comments about John Wall? Yeah, I do.
I dio Yeah, I was saying that the fan of me, I don't want to see him go.
I've been to John Wall Fence since he since he played at Kentucky And then we'll wait before that.
Carolina Carolina represented Riley, North Carolina.
He played at word of God.
And so he was big.
He was big around around the rally area and so shout out, shout out to him.
But at the same time, I don't I don't really want to see him go.
But just like Alex, you know, said we haven't seen John Wall played consistent honestly in three years, you know, And at a high level.
So from the so from that perspective and then from John Wall's perspective, I think he actually needs to try to go to a team that's gonna be been a little bit more beneficial to his play in style of play.
And he's not getting any younger.
He still can play.
He's I mean, I I think he's still in elite point guard.
If he can, you know, get back to it.
I'm not saying get back to where he was, but the speed aspect of it, he may not have that anymore, but he could still play at a high high level and he could still contribute.
So I think it's best.
I think it's best that he tries to go to a team toe where you know, he sees fitting.
And then, you know, Washington can kind of move on and do what they need to do when it comes to building around Bill or whoever else they need.
Thio, they need to get free agency.
Whoever John Wall is gonna make 41 million this year.
44 million next year and 47 million the year after.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that that contract that contract is rough.
That you gotta I mean, from from the from the business side of Austin.
Yeah, man, you gotta You gotta You gotta You got to cut ties and you got to see who can who can take on the boat load of that contract.
You know, good luck on moving that contract.
I'll say that, but I'll be 30 minutes into that contract so he'll be out 33.
And it isn't like his game is like Chris Paul's where you can kind of plug in somewhere.
I don't know, man.
I don't know somebody or somebody will get him.
Somebody taking a ticket.
I agree with you.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but I will say this.
If the Wizards had a chance to get to flip him for for Russ.
They need to do that.
Oh, and let me add this part.
John Wall has a 15% trade kicker, so he gets traded.
His new team got a pony up.
Let me do the math real quick. E.
Remember the Lakers had thio a d Wade just $4 million on walls contract is **** near double 80 s.
So it might be an $8 million trade kicker on top of a salary.
You gotta eat that as a team to e talk that brother and my waving that.
Look, Look, look for a team that don't have cap in.
No point A for the team, but I know he's laughing to the bank.
And he's probably not going to get another max contract, so he needs to Probably You gotta keep this.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I won't come above it.
You move me, do what you gotta do, but I ain't coming off.
Well, certainly will be keeping an eye on D C and what's going on there, but moving on quickly to the next trade.
That kind of happened late last night.
Um, Steven Adams was traded to the pelicans.
Now, I think I think the I think this became a 14 deal with the Drew holiday going to Milwaukee and all of that.
So that got a little confusing with all the moving parts in that, but again bypassing all the extra of the tree.
How do you guys think that that Steven Adams were due in New Orleans? And how do you think he fits with that team with Zion? Hey, don't space the floor.
Don't die in the space.
They can work that out.
I mean, Zion could do.
They must plan on playing Zion at the perimeter, then Zion, is probably gonna do some ball handling.
Ooh, that they're gonna be strong up front.
That's for **** sure.
Uh, Steven Adams is a player who he's definitely a presence in the paint.
As we saw in Oklahoma City these past couple of years.
Um, Zion, you got Brandon Ingram Lonza even without Drew.
Yo, you got JJ Red****.
I mean, they got they got and they just got that boy Carol Lewis Jr from Alabama.
He's got What's interesting is is that they I'm looking here at their roster.
It looks like they still have Derrick favors.
Um, hey, never gonna move.
He definitely backup.
You can't have Stephen items, and I think favor favors.
Uh, back with Utah.
He signed with Utah.
They needed a presence on the inside. That was favors.
I think they upgraded with Steven Adams.
What about you call me what you think about this? Yeah.
I mean, I think it's a good look.
I think it complements Ion.
Um, Steven Adams.
He's a force in the paint, and he brings that intensity, you know, You look at the roster. Freeze.
Oh, you still got So you know, E I said, you've got the young boy, Carol Lewis, that they just drafted from Alabama, whose pre can go coast to coast.
So I mean, and you got Brandon Ingram.
So and, you know, he's a Dukie, so I mean, he came like they have a they have a solid, have a solid young roster.
Now, on paper, it looks like a solid.
Now, if it can translate to to being on the court, then you know, they could be they could be a dangerous young, young team.
They really can be.
So I mean, I think I think that was a good pick.
But you need someone to compliments Ion. He's your future.
Why not get someone bigger? That could go into paint, And, like he says, I on, you know, he could do his thing on the ball, or he can He can do what he needs to do it as well as being in the paint.
A good pick, Alex.
What you feel about this man? He's an enforcer.
So you know, you gotta an enforcer to play with all these young guys they've got.
I think they've got too many point guards.
I don't You know what, man? For me, it's always about level setting expectations.
I don't know what the expectations are probably to make the playoffs.
Brandon Anger is gonna get a max contract this season.
So they will compete for the eighth seed, I guess.
Um I like Steven Adams.
Eso Yeah, yeah, it's a good pick up.
I would like to see him go to a contender.
Like maybe, um, I don't know, like, I honestly thought he would end up with the Clippers some kind of way, you know? But he is that enforcer type player.
He is that guy that does the dirty work.
So I think he will take a lot of those expectations off his eye on it to be, you know, a rebounder and all of that stuff.
So we'll see how it works.
But he does clog the middle, and and Zion needs to be, you know, kind of working in that area.
So we'll see how it goes.
Yeah, Shout out to my man.
He's saying there's 76 has made some moves on the draft and free agency, getting a you know, the white man.
And that's who I want to move on to next.
Alex, man, help us understand the mix up with the Dwight Howard situation.
We know that he tweeted that, you know, he was staying in l.
A where he belongs.
And then that, too.
It was was later was was later deleted.
And then he ended up in Philly.
Help the listeners understand what went down with that.
And you and him and your Lakers.
What happened was they had they had a framework for, I think, 3.
6 million, something like that.
And the white thought if he agreed to it that that the Lakers were gonna that was like we were done.
All he had to do was agree.
And then shams tweeted it and Dwight tweeted it.
And then they both deleted it because Rob Pelinka had the framework.
But he didn't run the contract by Jeannie yet.
So the Lakers were saying, Well, here's the framework.
We need to wait until we are in a couple other things out.
So they just got ahead of themselves.
So I'm sad to see the white girl.
He was great for us this year.
Great. Um, Billy is getting a good one.
E always have no concern to me.
But that was a white.
I'm glad he came back, got a ring and make peace with Kobe.
I'm happy about that.
How do you think he'll fit in Philly with indeed and, um, that nucleus, that's that's that they got going on.
There are no doctors there now.
So how do you think that fit works out? Eso Dwight athletically is not what he used to be, but he could still get up and down the court.
He was healthy this past year for us.
So that's obviously a thing.
If he could be healthy, he's stellar.
And even though he doesn't have his athletic ability, more like he's a three time all defensive player three times a defensive player of the year.
And you can see that in the way he plays like he's a smart guy.
He he gave Yokich the Blues in game one of of Western Conference like Yokich had no idea what to do with White.
So that whole Siri's man he frustrate he was frustrating them like crazy.
Yeah, Dwight so the white will do.
The dirty work at M B probably won't do.
And so you can't play in both at the same time.
Like you can't Dwight Nadie because in beads game isn't like Anthony Davis is, but you got a legit center.
So if I mean N b goes down for, ah, handful of games, you've got a competent guy.
You can play for 20 minutes.
I you know, So no disrespected the white for me, man.
I'm glad he got a ring this year.
I think you know, Philly got a real one.
So stand stand on that trend, man, and stand in that lane.
This was probably the surprise signing for me, and it probably was for you as a Lakers fan as well.
Man, the White left, but you replaced him with the sixth man of the year.
Montreal's Harold Quickly, Alex, give us a rundown on how you feel about this signing and what it does for the Lakers man and moving forward.
Like, did this trade make you guys better than you were last year and you won the championship last year, So not trade.
I mean, did this signing make you guys better.
Yeah, you get the sixth man of the year.
I mean, the Lakers have the reigning sixth man and the runner up in Dennis Schroder.
So last season one of the Lakers issues was there was not a third score on this team.
It was third score by committee.
It was LeBron Anthony Davis.
And then, like the drop off any given night, it might be KCP.
It could be Caruso. It could be anybody.
This season you've got Schroeder An and Trez, both averaging over 18.
I don't think they were both average that on the Lakers.
But the fact that you've got to scores I didn't see this coming.
I thought he would be too expensive for the Lakers.
But he did turn down a larger contract from Charlotte, um to get ah, two year deal.
You know, an opt out with the Lakers for nine million.
So, to me, the Clippers get weaker losing him.
And I know a lot of people are blaming him for the Clippers losing and not, you know, he can't guard Hokage.
Of course he can't guard Yokich, but that's more of Doc not being a great coach.
And you don't put you don't put trades on yogurt.
That was just stupid.
So the Clippers failures isn't really on trays as much as it is, I think the coaching staff that was in Clipper land last year.
I say all that to say you take a key piece from a contender and added to the champions, I mean, things only get better.
E mean, you can't make up that production.
Which is probably why they gave Marcus Morris 60.
So he literally, he literally see, walked across the hallway and joined the other team.
So he didn't move far.
Well, he got he got caught up to the varsity squad.
That's what happened.
What do you think about Trans man signing with the champions? Man? E don't think this **** is fair, but I mean, whatever you think, you imagine the pick and roll with LeBron and trays or trader interest. ****.
The Lakers definitely got stronger.
I disagree with the sentiment.
His Doc Rivers, I think yoga's.
He's just he's just a great player, man.
What else was he supposed to put on them? Well, you don't put a e.
Heywood eight zoo box ass up.
I mean, maybe Montrezl the thing about Montrezl here.
I know I call you Montreal's because you have a random Z in your name.
Um, he's good on both ends defensively and offensively, and he brings that energy.
That's how his mama spelled it.
Yeah, I would have put Montrezl on Yokich, too.
And if he can't guard him, then **** man way.
I mean, it's just good what we supposed to do.
I don't I don't think that's a knock on rivers Corn.
What do you think about Montrezl at Brandon calls them joining the world champion Los Angeles Lakers.
Yo, look, first and foremost, he's a Carolina boy.
Shout out the tall head, Tarboro, North Carolina.
That's because that's what that's what That's what traces from So, um, I think it's great, man.
And you know the way he let yo, I call him the Gargoyle because when you know when that dude jumps and he goes for the ball, yo, he reminds me the door balls.
You know, that used to come on.
Uh, hey, he Hey, hey, hey.
Yeah, he gets after it dogs.
So he's aggressive.
So I mean, I like I like I like to move e like it's a good move he's gonna bring.
He's gonna bring a lot of intensity toe l A.
Hey, you know what they say, man? Just like in the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs signing.
You know, Levy on Bell.
And all of those players the rich give Richard.
It looks like the Lakers This got better with this move.
They also signed Wesley Matthews.
So how much have space figure? I mean, Jesus Christ.
These players air signing for mid level exceptions and taking less money treads took less money.
I think the thing about the think about Wes Matthews is he basically takes Danny Green's position.
Danny Green was making 15 million in and West is making 3.6.
Like that is a Yeah, but Danny Green is a better player.
I don't know about that.
Did you watch him in L A.
This year? Did you Did you watch it bubble? Yeah, he was brutal in the bubble.
Wait, Hold a weapon.
But let's be real e No.
Shooters, Shooters, shooters have their shooters have they're carrying around the boy.
I know more now.
Let's zio a week ago, he was also the Lakers the Lakers gonna bring back.
They're looking to bring back a CPS.
If you're bringing back KCP was gonna get to start spot.
There's no room for 15 million, right? That makes sense.
That makes sense to bring in West.
But when you compare west with Danny Green, I don't I don't think there's much debate there.
I mean, you're talking about championship experience.
Yeah, he he might have been cold, you know, But I mean ****.
What shooter hasn't had a cold street? No, he was Yeah, he ***.
Hey, Please excuse me, dawg.
Hey was frigid in the but the way LeBron looked at him when he passed him that shots for the game winner.
And he missed that **** wide open.
LeBron was looking like bruh.
You're gonna hit something.
I tell you what, I'll tell you what, but he has experienced and kcp as good as the season as he had this year.
He's not, You know he can have.
He could do the same **** next year that Danny Green did this year.
Okay? Yeah, but you got you brought in, Matt. Hey.
Didn't become Thomas of Joe Duma's.
You're not gonna have a good stretch.
You're not gonna tie up 30 million in KCP and Danny Green.
Somebody? Yeah, K c p e.
I mean, I say this kcp kcp earned the way he played in the finals.
Inspired that? Yeah, eso That's the free agency.
But I didn't want to give I'll resident insider a chance before we move on to the pickem.
Thio update us on anything that's there that he's seen or any moves that he's expecting to happen in in in the NBA with his team or any other team.
So we're gonna give them a solo layout.
We're gonna give them the r o T R N b a insider.
So before we let you go, Alex and we move on to the NFL, pick him what's on the docket, man.
Yeah, I know, I know.
Fred vanvleet is still out there.
I know Serge Ibaka and some of those names out there.
What do you think? What do you foresee happening on the second day of free agency? Well, I mean Gordon Hayward still out there and I know the Knicks.
The Knicks won it, but he's he seems to prepare, prefer Indiana.
And I find that interesting because he played for Utah Boston and I want to go to Indiana.
You got to see a trend there with the destinations he's choosing. I do.
I definitely c e o this'll Allah, Plato.
If it's his style of play, though, I mean look very with the college.
E is from Indiana.
So way see the trend.
He's not asking to go to Miami or L. A or New York.
So there's there's a trend there.
But nevertheless, uh, Raul Neto just signed with the Wizards and Bobby Portis just signed with the Bucks.
But the Lakers are trying to work out a deal to bring back KCP.
And I mean, you all know by now the deal for Bogdan Bogdanovic with the Bucks fell apart.
So now the league is actually is actually investigating the Bucks, and they're likely gonna get fined and maybe lose draft picks moving forward.
But the Lakers actually talking to the king's about bringing them Bogdanovich also now, so I will see if they can pull that off, then I will agree with you.
Uh, Brandon, it's not there.
If they are able to get barred done and they're able to, you know, still get retain KCP and all of that.
Yeah, it's not looking good for the rest of the week.
So Chris Dunn signed with, um, Atlanta.
Atlanta is made some moves, man.
Atlanta has made some moves, man.
They they signed Gallinari Andi Now, Chris done to go with that young team Trae Young and those young players there.
So bucks just on d j. Augustine.
Three years, 21 million e j Stayed in the Czech too. Man.
Shout out to them Texas boys.
I knew Kwan was going to say, That s Oh, I'm Chad again, man.
Shout out to our o t R N b a insider.
We appreciate you, man.
I don't know if you're gonna hang around or not, but we're gonna move on to Theo tr pickem show our favorite part of the show.
We'll see graphic up.
We'll a We'll see, man. Let's see.
What what we got going into this week.
So Brandon won the week, man, you went 10 and four.
That's four weeks in the world.
I'm gonna start needing to see your picks, bro.
Because you might be fudging the numbers.
I might be fudging the numbers you might be fudging.
Do this show live.
It's recorded Brandy Cave in The winner of the week attended four.
I came in at 86 corner seven and seven for week 10.
Which brings overall standings to Brandon now and solo.
First place by two.
Kwan is bringing up the rear.
We'll see how it goes this week.
Well, you know why? I think because Brandon put the Burgundy on my the Bergen.
So that's the reason why I'm getting my ass kicked.
Now, the reason you got your ass kicked because you went 1 13 three Ugo 13 e o.
You did. You did.
You did, Uh you did, bro.
You did go over 13.
So it's all good. It's all good.
So all right, let me pull up the schedule, man.
And let's be quick with this, Fellas, Thursday night's matchup was Arizona for Seattle.
We already know Seattle won that game.
I think I'm starting off this week.
Want to know why you guys starting off Oh, in one.
Um, the first kickoff.
Tomorrow it's Philly traveling to Cleveland 1 p.m. Kickoff.
Who you got? Kwan? Uh, filly, Filly, Filly, Filly, Filly, Filly.
I got the Browns winning.
Uh, the Eagles 10 Browns 21.
