we are live and welcome to the N Ba is mark from the section five podcast and the whole crew, while four of us will be on at some point throughout the night.
But we're gonna do a little bit of a draft walk along, gives comments on the picks, and I'm sure I talk about some other stuff in between picks and during commercials.
And, uh and all that is a ton of stuff to talk about.
Um, silver is up on stage right now, and it looks like Minnesota is on the clock.
So we are officially underway.
And, uh, I think, well, one of the more interesting parts of the draft before the picks even get started to see in the presentation of it because it's just so different from what we typically see from a draft so far, it looks like ESPN and the n B A or hitting out of the park.
It looks, um, a little different, but it it doesn't look like it's drastically different from from a standard draft.
So, uh, you know, all things air kind of back to normal A little bit a t least for for the night on and we are excited for some MBA drafted.
The reaction is I I'm not even gonna lie. I'm just killing time.
All tray, uh, angles, microphone headphones over there.
But, um, there we go.
All right, So you had said just a minute ago.
We think that's the pick that we think there's a chance that anything else happens.
They go with anyone else, his Romelo in play here.
You think it's gonna be Edwards? I still think ball is in play here.
Now, of course, it could be a trade, but I think there's a possibility that ball could go here because there are quite a few pundits out there quote unquote who do have him at the top of their board.
And, yeah, hyper kind of does matter.
So he's been the most hyped I for a while now.
Eso I think you're right.
I think it's going to be Edwards, but I think I wouldn't be shocked if it was ball.
I'd be shocked if it was anyone else.
Um, unless Minnesota trades out.
And then who knows? Depending on what team comes in by, it's really interesting for me.
Just toe be here and be talking about this draft and not know who the first pick is because you usually know who it ISS right, whether it's Zion last year or you coming into the draft, maybe get some rumblings that the couple of days before, um, you know, have a team, maybe come to an agreement with a guy.
We still aren't 100% sure who.
This has got big.
We think it's going to be Edwards, but it's not set in stone, and that's, Ah, little different.
I think it's actually pretty pretty welcomed.
If you're just looking at it from an entertainment standpoint and watching the draft, then there are showing Lemelle Oh, ball looks.
He looks ready to go with much nicer set of headphones than either of us have on right now.
And there's Anthony Edwards, a U G A guy potentially going at the top of the NBA draft.
That Z, that's something there.
That's something you don't see every day.
I don't so will, but we'll see just in just a minute and then everything is gonna sort of start to fall into place and, yeah, works.
We're expecting a wild night.
There's a lot of trade rumors have been kind of quiet today.
Ah, you know, a couple of things have happened.
We saw him or in the last couple of days.
But once these these teams start getting on the clock, there's there's gonna be movement.
So, uh, we're primarily a Celtic show.
You got the Celtics logo up there in the corner.
We are Celtics podcast.
So we got a lot of Celtic stuff that z gonna go on inside.
Politics got three picks in the first round, and they got the Gordon Hayward situation kind of looming over their heads.
Uh, a lot of a lot of rumors, a lot of possibilities.
So we'll see if if those play out or if the Celtics keep the picks and just draft a few guys, maybe stashed a couple of guys because they do have, you know, quite the full roster as it stands right now.
So a lot of Celtic stuff that we'll get into it a little bit, maybe wait until the other two guys jump on a Z.
Jamie and Adam are gonna be on in just a little bit.
I don't Is he spoiling the draft? No.
All right, but in our Facebook group chat because it just popped up on my screen.
So of he was like I told you s so all right, The pick is in and I really want to say it, but it's the first pick, and I kind of don't want to spoil it for people watching kids.
I know when I'm watching the draft when I'm watching the NBA draft, especially the NFL draft, because sometimes in past years they've been like three picks ahead in the NFL draft, and it drives me wild because I'm just trying to, like, watch it and enjoy it.
But, um, yeah, sure, yes, yeah and yeah.
And because of Atlanta's just ton of assets tennis caps, faithful, No.
A lot of young players on that team. A lot of picks.
They've been involved in just about every rumor.
So whether it's real or not, like, they're a major player.
Here's silver, walking up to the stage to officially give us the name.
There it is, Anthony Edwards and, you know good for him.
Like I said earlier, a U G A kid not exactly a basketball powerhouse.
Uh, so you know, a little a little different.
Well, Jimmy Butler biggest asset is he's an *******.
So maybe that's something that Edwards will develop a little bit.
And that's that's something that Minnesota could definitely use.
E There is a spot now where they just they need all the help they can get.
I mean, you got towns out there, but other than that, they're pretty, you know, they got the first pick for a reason.
They're not. They're not very good right now.
And warriors on the clock.
This is interesting.
It was like I do, too.
They they could.
There are a lot of teams that would be interested in whether it's Wiseman or ball.
Um, and the Celtics would be pumps to get Wiseman.
He would really, you know, fit.
Fill the hole that they have big time and the Celtics have a lot of pieces where they could potentially do it.
There were rumors of them moving up into the top three.
We're trying to move up into the top three, so we'll see.
But it could also make a lot of sense for Golden State Thio draft Wiseman and just keep it, uh, because that's a piece that they could use to, uh, steps coming back.
Clegg has got hurt today, so we'll see how bad that is.
Uh, maybe it's nothing.
Maybe he's out again.
We just don't know.
But yeah, and if they if they can get there, I think this is probably a spot.
Because Golden State, you know, they've got to be listening because they're a team that they have to expect is ready to jump back in and be a contender again.
You lost Two top 10 players are arguably top five players.
I'm not sure that Clay goes right into the top five, but regardless plays an excellent top chair player.
It was both those guys.
You got those guys coming back now and they trip.
Um, Clay didn't play at all last year and stuff barely played.
So they're going toe, come right in and and expect to be.
Do they wanna pick up veteran pieces to make one last run with with playing staff? Do they think things young guy that they take, whether it's, you know, ball or Wiseman? I think it would be Wiseman with what they got if they were to keep him a lot of different options for Golden State.
And it's one of those spots where you're looking at the top of the drafting like this team is already good and they still have.
They're still in the position to get one of the top players in the draft, So that Z a really great spot.
And it's not something you see.
What do you, Teddy? All right, throw it out there.
Let's do it All right.
I can't say I'm surprised at all.
I mean, a trade could theoretically still be in play.
But if you just he seems to fit.
He seems to be the type of player who, if he is Oh, God, how long ago did he tweet that? Oh, you know, like Oswald's works for ESPN and they probably told them not to spoil packs.
That's that's exactly what it is.
Eso he's gonna throw all of these goofy words in there when he finds out so that he could be on top of it.
But he's not actually saying they're packing them.
Yeah, I think she after got in trouble with that with the NFL or not really in trouble but ESPN said, Hey, don't do that.
Um, so So, yeah, that's exactly what that is.
They're taking Wiseman.
So should be a guy who can come in and help them right away.
Um, if they if they keep them and it's a good low pressure situation for a number two pick, like if he's only ready to give 10, 15 minutes a night, he could go do that.
And he's got and players around him who are gonna, you know, be able to accommodate that.
But there we go.
We already talked about a couple of teams who have a bunch of pieces that are able to be traded Celtics being one of them, the Hawks being and other.
Ah, you know, whether it's a couple of the young players the Hawks took last year early in the draft or the picks they have now, or some veterans to move and and seeing with Celtics, Celtics have a few young players.
They got three first round picks this year.
Um, their teams that could make it enticing for one of these teams toe move.
These guys, if they were going to do that.
I think it would be more likely that it would be done by now as a I am.
But, um, there may be the guest got in the ice crossing the teas, and, um, finalizing some deals are trying to grant a little more out.
But I think the most likely scenario is these two guys were gonna stay because, like, it's one and two in the draft, it's ah.
When was the last time you seen those guys move on? You know, on draft day, like I mean, Weber and Penny Hardaway, I come into mine.
But that was 25 years ago.
So, um, you know, I think, right? Absolutely.
Yeah, they They have the luxury of being able to do a lot of different things here, but ah, with that being a big need that they have And also him being the consensus best big in the draft.
Um, and someone who years ago, years ago would have been the consensus number one pick with the way the game was played before the last couple of years.
Um, it za hell of again for the for a team that good to be able to get a guy like that.
And there it is.
Nice little Mountain Dew sponsorship over there.
Already getting paid nice.
You know, they're probably snap backs, which automatically makes them terrible.
But those hats, the draft, that's pretty **** nice.
All right, So you're kind of the resident draft expert from the Section five group.
What do you got on on Wiseman, right? It's they're going to get a veteran to you would have to when you have a kid.
What was that? Young And that? An experience.
But with that much potentially.
You wanna have someone in there to kind of help bring him along and take some pressure off and make sure, you know, running him out there 40 minutes tonight when he doesn't really know what he's doing yet in the league.
So, uh, he's up.
You had mentioned that, you know, he could shoot a little bit, but we haven't seen much of that.
Um, we really haven't seen much of anything from him.
He only played, I believe, three games at Memphis before he ran into the eligibility issues.
So he's someone who we saw a couple of flashes of and we're seeing some hides now, Um, but there's there's not a ton of highlights out there of him in college because it's only a handful of games.
So really, what he did when he came into colleges, he came in with the high being one of the top prospects in the country out of high school.
And then he comes in and he plays a little bit in college and he shows you get enough of it to show like, Okay, the hype is probably real with him.
And then that was it.
He was done, Uh, so he didn't really get a chance.
Toe, you know, make any on the court mistakes or show when he holds in his game because you just saw that that highlight package there, if you're watching on ESPN and those air, those were, yes, the type of highlight to make you jump out of your seat or super athletic, you know, get into the basket.
Finishing Uh, very a He's 7 ft one, and he's very, very athletic, so oh, you could just see all of the kind of the potential around them.
You know that word that gets general managers fired and, uh, he didn't get a chance toe to really disprove any of any of the people who are saying that he was potentially the top pick in the draft.
Because I think at this point last year, uh, if you were saying if you were asking, who's gonna be the first pick in the draft, it was probably it was him or, uh Ball.
Most likely, I would think so.
Um, well, we'll see.
He's one of the players.
I was excited toe.
Washington will be excited to watch going into the season because I like I like a good, athletic, big man.
That's just a little bit of Ah, lost.
Our is the old school big man or a lot bit of a lost art.
But that's just great basketball, the watch when it's done right and done well.
So I'm really excited to see him in the league, and I see the Charlotte pick is in.
That's one place where the N B A has the NFL, absolutely destroyed in the draft is the speed of this thing.
Uh, that we are still talking about Wiseman and the bank is already in.
So from the NFL would still be waiting for the second pack, right? And I love the NFL draft.
Don't get me wrong by you.
Just can't be the pace of the NBA draft.
Yeah, yeah, Right.
Know who this is? This is the easiest pick in the draft.
Really? It's There was a top three in this draft and okay, Yeah, yeah.
And he, uh, he's someone who was definitely in play for the first pick.
We had touched on that a little bit earlier on.
And where Here, Is that at number three? Going to Charlotte where? Yeah, I'm not sure, but, I mean, he might be better than Michael Jordan now in his 50.
