How are you, buddy? Alright, nice welcome.
It is very cool.
Welcome to the SportsCastr.
Black and Gold Hockey Podcast Weekly weekly.
Get down with this Bruins hockey talk.
Um, and happy to have you which we had the Nestea around.
But this is new nickname Nestea, not Nestor.
Nestor is a man's name.
S t is a woman's name.
Yeah, he's gotta turn that back because exactly.
All right, so way are talking Boston Bruins hockey.
Dan 56 joined the podcast.
Thank you very much.
Or the broadcast.
I've only took two sips of my wit.
All right, so anything you guys want to talk about it, and it's an open, open core.
Um, I'm gonna be battling over here on on Facebook with this Gila Do show over here telling me that I don't know anything about Boston Bruins hockey, and he seems to know that Ciara doesn't want to be a burn anymore, but whatever but take Oh, it's terrible.
He's just, like, show your home work, You know, I show your sources I would like to use the internet.
It's like, Come on, man.
Just like use charge personality, It's absolutely hilarious.
What's going on? I did see, like a weird rumor regarding him and other teams.
I didn't know who it was from.
It just didn't see. Oh, I know who it was from.
It didn't seem like it was like, probably because it was Toronto, the Islanders and Tampa Bay.
I didn't just say that Teams like inquired, like, talked to his agent about.
I read it quick while driving.
I don't condone, but yeah, I don't know.
I thought it was weird.
You know, Vancouver did reach out to him.
I do know that Vancouver did reach out to him, But like kids not going to sign in Vancouver, he's not going to sign a Toronto.
He's not going to sign with the Islanders.
He's either going the Bruins.
They're going to give him an offer.
If he's not retiring and he's going to take it, exactly what do you boys think? It's gonna be? A.
I mean, I hope it's less than Kevin Millar's deal.
My guess is 11 million on the dot.
My guess is one million on the dot yeah, one year, one million I still believe the Kevin Millar thing was a was a buddy buddy thing.
I know I'm repeating myself, but I think it was one of those things that that, uh, Miller's on the end of his career.
We could see the that.
And I think this was a little incentive to get him some cash before he walks away from the game fully.
And and Charles definitely earned his paycheck with probably 70 to $80 million in in in career earnings, So he's all set.
It doesn't have to worry about it.
The Miller thing to me is one of those.
You know, you guys, you worked hard from the Providence up to the NHL, so we're gonna take care of you and just look at the way that the incentives were When you when you look at like the 1st 10 games of the season, he's gonna get like 250 grand, so you know he's probably going to do that.
But who knows on how much time he's going to get in the Bruins roster this season.
You got a lot of young guys that really fighting for the roster spots and I believe that should get this lots over him, but the it remains to be so, um you know, uh, talked about because he signed on the first day of free agency and not waiting to see if he could actually play and get a PTO.
And when the Bruins start training camp, uh, mid December, I'm hearing.
Yeah, and who knows how many steps uh, Miller has lost anyways? I mean, Christ, he wasn't the fastest guy to begin with.
And what do you **** up both knees? So both knees, Or was it the same name? Yeah.
Yeah, well, not not the pump marks tires, but that's why they should have gave him PTO.
Yeah, I agree with that.
I know I came out on Twitter saying, Like, I love that signing, but then I sat back in my chair a little longer.
I'm like, maybe I'm thinking twice about that, but I've always been the Kevin Millar guy.
It's just Christ.
Like, give him the veteran minimum or something.
I mean, or PTO like marks and, like, make him earn it.
But Marx, right? It's probably a buddy buddy thing.
I mean, he's been good for the franchise It's been good for us.
So he's been a loyal dude.
So, you know, I I don't hate it, but it is a couple 100,000 more than I was hoping for.
I thought he was going to get, like, a spaetzle, like Dale. 700,000.
You know, that was way more sense, you know, played for one year and maybe get a ticket the next year.
Who the hell knows? But he's obviously on the back nine of his career here and then to new knees.
Basically so very true. Very true.
Jared, How was work? Uh, I was slinging pizzas this week.
Same as it is every week, man.
Hey, listen, I really I really appreciate you coming in and taking the time tonight, and I'm working with us.
I know you have Tuesdays off, but I really wanted to get everybody together.
Um, because it's not the same without you, all three of you.
But we know how the Nestea, uh, is busy, and he's got some busy things going on.
So probably important things to, But I just like getting on.
I like to put in airports.
Yeah, I like giving him a hard time he said.
He's a really nice kid and he's a pushover.
So I like to bust his balls because I know he won't give it back to May, and I've known him since, like second grade.
So I've just ripped into, like, every single days in second grade, and I just I'll give it to him and he'll just say, I still love you, Nick.
That's the kind of kid that e like.
I roll in similar fashion with the dumb and change boys.
Absolutely e the sense we're all here and we do have, ah, decent amount of viewers.
I do want to say that you guys should be following these guys thes.
You can follow him on Twitter at an underscore change.
They do a weekly podcast.
It's It's on all the I believe listening platforms, but especially, please go to the black and gold hockey dot com and listen on our podcast network because these guys are on there.
They do a fantastic job.
So very proud to have one of these guys and eight other programs, just like Jack Casals, Bruins talk jacked up and my podcast, the black and gold hockey pod, which is the mothership of this unbelievable sports company.
Pat my back a little bit, but anyway, yeah, it was from my suburban topics.
You do not doing podcasting correctly, especially in Boston.
Bruins, podcasting and the golf Nick Busa.
What is up with Misty Eagle over here? Oh, body God, I can't wait to talk about this again.
I was hoping it was gonna get brought up.
Uh, you knew I was gonna bring it up at today's part, man? Yeah, E boy Jared about it all weekend.
I mean, Christ, it's every other word that comes out of my mouth about Oh, my God.
If you could see this thing The holy ****.
Par 5, 62 yards out.
I mean, granted, I was using Have you guys ever heard of the spin Doctor E heard all the time with Yeah, Uses it on.
Uh, father uses it all the time, you know.
Yeah, because I So I remember hearing Crosby talk about it on spit.
So I looked into it, and I finally pulled the trigger this summer, so e got 50 56 degrees.
Uh, spend all doctor and I was, like, 62 yards out like that's right in my wheelhouse for the 56 I I just ****ing chucked it up.
There was probably, like, 25 ft back on the green and it just rolled in and hold these ****.
I mean, god**** you guys got me all excited again.
Just talking about, But it was on.
Really? I mean, my only ego.
Probably my only legitimate eagle.
I probably lied about a few on the scorecard, but that's that's my first legitimate eagle.
So that was unreal.
I looked like ****ing Dustin Johnson out there.
Um, minus the smoke show.
You didn't come kiss you on the mouth.
You wanna hear something funny is on my personal instagram.
I believe she has me blocked.
I want to go, like, look her up.
And she wasn't popping up.
And so I got a DJ's page.
I click on her and said, No post yet I'm like, What the hell? I've never even followed her it before.
But then I go to the dump and change Pa Instagram and I search her up.
She pops up no problems.
I'm thinking I got talked one.
I I said something about her being very pretty.
She's just getting the old block.
Or maybe she heard about down.
I'm sure that that's exactly when I said I'm a gentleman, especially when I drink.
She's like, Dustin doesn't use a spin.
Dogs that block Uh exactly does it? My husband doesn't have to ****ing sheet thio get it? Eagle e.
I just had to check to make sure I wasn't blocked by Paul e mean, I'm not sure if I should be proud of that are upset about that.
But thankfully, we have the dumping change Instagram so I can look at her very pretty pictures.
Good for you, brother.
I'm still yet to get my first.
I only have, like, probably a dozen verities.
That's about it in my lifetime.
It doesn't even have that much.
You'll get it sooner or later.
Jared e A few birdies? Yeah, here.
It's had a rough second half of the season for a good time.
I only have one goal.
I hate you, Jack e.
I have one legitimate eagle.
I'm 99% sure all my other ones were just fibbed.
I just ****ing road on the gone scoresheet.
Yeah, and it It was like a Stanley Cup celebration.
When I hit like, everyone once again e for May ness.
Nestor was in the cart, and, uh, we were riding together and he was watching me.
And I said it in the shop.
I'm like, I'm going to spend the **** end of this ball.
And then next thing I know, it went in.
We had two bodies on the green.
It went in, they started freaking out.
And then Nestor ran out of the car and literally jumped into my arms.
It was like he was my first born baby.
Just running into my arms.
It was ****ing the door.
You guys need a film crew to follow you, man.
Seriously, Not a bad idea.
E a fiance after that way.
Find like, a very, very patient person behind.
Sure, Sure, Sure.
What was it? What was your eagle on? Was their part four or part three on my eagle? Yeah, Par five, baby.
Par five for five is like 500 yards.
I think casually drove casually Drove a 300.
No, I have no idea, actually, but I like to tell myself that casually driving 300 with ease, but, uh, yeah, anything to pump my tires on the golf course? I got one on one and 11 eagle.
They came on the stage and I came so close to home one.
This year I stuck it like to, like, probably like eight inches away.
But the thing is, I was golfing alone, so I was kind of happy that it didn't happen, because I'm like, no one's gonna believe this.
And what's like There's no fun in that and I was not drinking or anything, but obviously I would have been drinking after that second hole of a part three stuck it right there.
But I'm kind of glad it didn't go in.
So I'm still looking for that one.
I got a 378 yard drive.
Who? Big tick mark.
Really? Yeah, but you know what? Thank God for that cart path.
Baby E was playing at Apple Hill and I hit it at least 300 the cart path goes along the left side.
But then it cuts in the middle and then goes to the to the right to get up to the other freaking hole on seven at Apple Hill in the Kingston, New Hampshire.
And I hit that cart path and it just, like, just bounced.
We were in the golf league and the people that were on seven ahead of us with, Just like, Dude, you should have seen the kick.
You got off of that car and I went up to it on my GPS.
And I'm like, Click that baby.
Yeah, why not? Travel distance.
Somebody said Booth.
So he says, Big tick mark and all of a sudden this guy, big **** Josh, come into the bank I'm following.
Welcome to the welcome to the broadcast, Big ****. Josh.
Man, that's awesome.
That sounds and he's got my ****ing man crush on there.
****ing Josh Anderson.
I know who that is.
Is that is that duster? No, no, that Z I'm trying to trace it back to you.
I, uh Who is this? I know it's somebody I know.
He said my man Jack.
So he knows you. Yeah.
No, I know who it is.
And it's Alex. Yes.
Hey, welcome, man.
Thank you very much for God joining the stream.
Appreciate it. Dude, That's awesome.
Hot sauce sports.
Oh, Alex was giving me **** this Sunday.
He was He was hanging on me all day.
He's a Montreal fan, by the way.
Oh, we lost boost.
Uh, yeah, he'll come back.
He was pretending to be an Auburn fan just to rile me up.
And it was working.
Tell, um, Jared about hot sauce sports real quick.
I got I'll be right back.
I gotta do something real quick.
You got a hot sauce sports.
They covered hockey.
They cover every May.
They cover a little bit.
Everything there? Unbelievable.
In the m m. A coverage.
In the hockey coverage, they really do it all over there.
Uh, they got a great squad.
They got Alex or not.
Ah, is it Alex the intern? Is that like it's Alex the intern? They got Ah, Terry.
Um, they got they got it all over there.
So it's just ever may stuff.
Alex, The intern is the Twitter name, though right? I think so.
I think it's Alex the intern, and Terry.
Tim, it was Terry that was giving me ****.
I messed that up earlier.
It's Terry that was giving me the pussies back in the house.
Got a There it is.
Get to dial up problems, not the chair.
All right, boys, I got to go eat some dinner.
If you're still on here, I'll be back.
Even worse like that.
You're You're always competitive.
All right, well, I'll be back later if you guys are still on.
But I got to go eat some dinner.
Yeah, hopefully boost that comes back in now. It's just me and Jared.
I wonder if it's probably love, Senator Connection? You probably did.
I sent him in the invite again, so hopefully you'll be jumping right back in.
So what's new, Jared? Whatever.
He is, the beauty of himself.
What happened that? Did The job will stop on your on your dial up.
That happens a lot.
Those wheels ****ing running? Um, yeah, really Back.
You know, I'll get back to that.
It's like you guys, uh, Josh, I'll get back to you on that Collab with? Yeah, I was just trying to think if I should really go on the Montreal Canadians podcast or not, I have to go see.
Uh, you know, Special Council for that to make sure that everything's gonna be okay with my lawyers, your lawyers, in case anything happens.
You know how it is.
You know this litigation between between borders and and team, so we'll we'll be in touch.
I'm joking, by the way, But no, I'd love to do something like that, but I'm a busy freaking guy.
Mark, what do you think of the What do you think of the Canadians? Jerseys Reverse Retro jerseys don't hate him.
I don't hate him.
I I mean, I hate the team and not a big fan of the franchise, but the color is a good and and I'm kind of, ah, weirdo myself.
But I really didn't mind those.
Remember when they went back to the old school jerseys and they were going through the times of because it's the Montreal Canadians have just been a along franchise in the NHL, so they've had many different jerseys.
But do you remember the Where's Waldo.
Yeah, I didn't mind those either.
They were those.
They were like seven jerseys that year because it was their 100 year right? I didn't want I didn't mind those jerseys either.
But these ones really stand out to me.
So I There's a lot of petreaus that I saw, and I was just really disappointed.
Dallas is terrible. Really.
I thought they could do better, but I like Dallas.
Dallas is terrible.
And there one that they're either gonna do the one with the like the neon green.
Oh, that's terrible, too.
Um, I like the DS.
I'm not going to say I love it.
I'm not gonna probably go up and get it.
But it's not a bad jersey.
It doesn't like you wanted the ****, right? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
You know none of that stuff.
I don't mind the meth bear on the shoulders.
And everything it brings back like my childhood.
Because that's when I saw I saw Terry O'Reilly I saw, you know, Ray Bork and I saw Randy Burridge and all these guys wearing the meth bear on the side and the regular P in the in the chest.
But there's so many people out there that want that meth on the front, and it's like, No, no, don't make that the center of attention.
No, we're bigger.
Yeah, it would look weird if it was bigger than I mean Go **** before 100% but I will go on that one.
I wasn't exactly sold on the Bruins retro jerseys attack first, but then, like kind of like looking at a little bit longer, I do like them.
They're not my favorite, but I do like them.
I did say, I wish they kind of went like a different kind of gold like the Winter Classic one, Um, but I thought, It's like it kind of.
It's kind of more like a yellow than a gold, it feels like.
But like the ones that they used in the first Winter classic, I love that kind of goal.
That kind of wish they did that.
Yeah, I agree with the color.
Um, yeah, to me, it's like black and yellow, but black and gold, it's It's so confusing or what actual color.
It supposedly is No, no.
There's so many different kind of shades.
It's just like like you can see in the flag behind me.
Like that's not gold.
That's just so ugly.
Expired mus**** colored.
But that's actually like exactly what it looks like.
E just turned around and looked about.
I was like, Yeah.
Do you want you guys all get banners? Yeah, we have flag.
We'll flag for you.
What? I have a flat.
You have a You have a dumping change Podcast flag? Yeah, I got I got a bunch of them E Oh, my God, that's awesome.
Dude, I'm so ****ing e don't know why I haven't mailed it to you like we did the T shirt.
Just like I could do that.
The T shirt I gotta tell you.
Thank you very much.
I love it, but I wore it twice and wash it once, and oh, I know I can't wear it no more.
Yeah, the man ******* ****ing really, really bad on that shirt.
I'm just like you know what, but look, it's a good podcast, though.
Even though you're rubbing around the African man, move way we want we want to bring the attention to the *******.
You see that ***y ****ing logo? Uh, but it's not even go anymore.
And we'll give you guys have now is just absolutely spot on with that booty that exact.
That's boost his brainchild right there.
And that got crushed.
I don't even know his name.
I just saw that he did work for Jack and I loved what he did for a Jap podcast.
He did the Maria from Watertown logo.
Yeah, he's done the Linderoth hockey podcast.
He's, uh, Andrew Linderoth.
So he's got a ton of stuff for us.
And it was just fitting that we passed them on to you guys and he did a great job.
Do the Zamboni driver.
Just chugging as you're going along is just Yeah, that's definitely boost his man child.
Yeah, because I mess I d m to him.
And then, like, i d m two like, two hours later, I was like, Oh, yeah, don't forget to add the guy drinking on this and that, like, it wouldn't be a dumping change logo without that, and and they're like, Oh, my God! The timing of the release of that.
Wasn't it the like right around a day or two when the flaming Zamboni videos were coming out? A few before that.
But yeah, that helped us a lot.
Yeah, that sums up dumping change.
Just a **** show drinking **** show over here trying to get our **** together.
Thank God for edit.
And holy ****, That's my biggest thing is like, Jesus, What did I say? How many times they fumble? Oh, my tongue.
And thank God I can edit that.
Oh, yeah, You You and I both struggled this week talking.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, big time.
I mean, you were a disaster last night night, but that's what it was I was just trying to power through.
I'm, like, **** Monday night.
It's like e mean usually I'll take, like, Tuesday off, and I'll just like having a za chill day, and I'll be ****ed around that time.
But not not this week.
I was a little I was a little flustered by the idea of having Thio actually wake up early on Tuesday.
So that was that tongue tied me.
So, uh, this conversation's makes people want to get drunk by Andrew.
Go break goes a cigar and the whiskey.
Andrew, Um, you guys over here way love our whiskey and e, I've Nestor probably doesn't I don't mind it.
I mean, I'm a white guy, so but I e good.
Like a good bourbon.
Um, yeah, that's about it, But I don't I don't go overboard on any of that.
I love my Knob Creek.
My makers market.
This is good choice.
Except screwball whiskey.
You'll be hungover for three days.
Yeah, well, me, it'll be a week because I'm like, I'll be 45 in, like, two weeks.
So probably a good idea to get that banner out there there, because it's my breath.
They're just like, Hey, um hey, so what do you guys think about? The recent rumors are probably not rumors.
I mean, uh, Daily Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner daily came out and said that they were targeting the earliest point of July of January.
Thio get the season started, which means that the preseason and training camps will probably Owen right around mid December.
I'm hearing from, uh, some European scouts that some of the players on loan that are over in Europe right now have been asked to come back to North America.
Obviously, that's probably due to quarantining time lining up with, um Cem Cem preseason stuff.
So thoughts on this season going with numbers and Covic crap still going on and everything like that.
Do you guys actually see this happen? Or is this just a step in the right direction of the NHL? Needed to do much like they did? Yeah.
I mean, like, it was looking kind of promising.
I mean, if you look at it were like a month and a half away from that number from that date.
But then you also here yesterday on the news that over a million new Kobe cases in the States, like in the in just a week alone.
So that kind of scares me.
That worries me about the NHL season.
But what also worried me was when the h l came out and said they're looking at What was that March 1st or February? February? Yeah, February.
So that kind of worried Me too.
Um, but it seems like the stick into the guns here and there.
Trying Thio really pushed for that January 1st start date for like, uh, preseason games exhibition games.
So I really hope that's the case.
Because if that's that, if that's the case, then a month, a month and a half away, we'll be watching some Hawk and I'll be awesome.
But I just the as time passes as weeks and days passing the hours passed cova numbers going up, I just don't like I don't see it being like happening on January 1st, maybe ended January, but I'm really hoping that they're trying to stick to the guns with January 1st here, but I don't know, so I'm just checking this out.
Okay, Um, I'm looking at the Winter Olympics, and that's in Beijing as 2022.
So if I'm not mistaken, didn't the, um the Summer Olympics get changed from last this this year? 2020? Isn't that going into next year? Just pump the year correct.
So here's my thing is the NHL doesn't want to get involved in any TV time near that time frame because it's gonna be taking over by Olympic coverage if if it happens.
So that's probably why Daily was saying, that's probably gonna be 48 to 60 game regular season because they don't want to get in there.
They want to get all the media attention that they could possibly get.
So, um, the 82 game schedule is not happening with playoffs? No. Absolutely.
You're going right into June, July and possibly Ah, small part of August.
So, um, what do your thoughts on a short season? I mean, short seasons have have benefited the Bruins in the past, but also, we've never been through this.
We've been through labor issues and so on and and and and lock out, but nothing like this with a pandemic.
So thoughts I actually said last night when we recorded that, I thought they could get 72 in.
But that was not that was me.
Not even I didn't even think of the Olympics.
And isn't, uh, the Olympics on NBC typically.
So there's a TV contract right there.
So I'm gonna go ahead and keep my words on 72 games, because no way, but to your point, Mark.
Yeah, it has worked before.
It wasn't in 2013 when it was shortened and the Bruins went to the Cup.
So it has been put it them.
Ah, I mean, that kind of it would suck because it's less hockey.
But what are you doing? Yeah, but it I definitely think I could definitely see it benefitting the Bruins.
But I can also see Kind of heard in the Bruins is well, with you got newcomers with Wilson, and then you got that fat *******.
Richie, uh, it's like it's gonna like Nik Richie.
I give him ****, but he never got like, you know, he got the short end of the stick, like he obviously he got traded the trade deadline.
Then the shutdown happened.
Basically, he didn't get as many games in and then with without a true preseason and training camp like, it's gonna hurt him.
And, I mean, he's already like a bigger boy on C.
And I just I want I want to see him work out because, you know, obviously we traded for him and stuff like that, and he's cheap money.
And he's I believe seeing are a fait after his deal.
So it's a contract year for him.
He's in our face.
If he does good, we have his rights and stuff like that.
So that would be awesome for the Bruins.
Um, but I just like, I want to see, like, you know, and you've got the younger guys to who have never dealt with this.
They might not be as professional as obviously.
You know, Bergeron's older guys like that.
Um, and it could also, you know, do damage.
Teoh, I don't know, like someone like marshy who's recovering from an injury.
And, you know, he could get a slow start and then you can't really afford a slow start in the shortened season, so I don't know.
It's It could go either way for the Bruins.
I wouldn't be surprised if they suck.
I wouldn't be surprised if they crush it.
It's but you have seen a shortened seasons have helped them, so I wouldn't I wouldn't be opposed to it.
I mean, I just don't see an 82 game season happening, and I think if you if you squeeze in as many games as possible with this upcoming season, it's gonna hurt the Bruins so much and then it's gonna hurt them the following year with guys like Bergeron.
I mean There's so many guys have burns who already have wear and tear and so many miles almost like so I just think it's going to hurt them.
But I'm okay with, you know, shortened Season 42.
What would you say? 41 anywhere from 40 to 50 games? 48 60? That's what they're targeting.
I think I said 60 on the podcast and chair, trying to shut up my hope.
I forgot about the Olympics.
But mark to your point to it, I think it's gonna happen.
Yeah, something's definitely gonna happen because think about what what they just did.
I mean, you can't really get much lower than that.
I'm sure they'll figure something out.
The one thing that we talked about two, I'm not wild about the I mean the whole four division thing.
Canadian teams play each other kind of weird.
I think it's strange, but that means you get so many games between Edmonton and Calgary.
Yeah, that's like maybe one of the best things that comes comes out of that.
I mean, if you think about it's more or less like an NHL schedule because the H L doesn't have a ton of money Thio put into their to their travel and and their team.
To be honest with you, eso like the Providence ruins will play Bridge 4 12 times the place Springfield 12 times.
They play hard for 12 times because it's all in that real tight circle.
And and and, uh, I've talked to Jay Leach about this.
The head coach of the province Bruins about this.
This particular fact is, when you can't get teams closer together and your travels a little compacted, um, you have available availability to find ice on the road somewhere and to keep these guys active on on the day they have one day off during the week.
The rest of the six are all skating, even though they play predominantly on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday schedule.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I mean, Monday.
Let's just say Monday's your day off, because you just you just went through three straight days of games and then you have Monday off, then Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, you're you're in there working, you're doing drills and your bag skating you're so on.
You just you're creating movement and not travel time when they when they NHL teams go like across the country to play, don't they usually, like play that team like they don't like? You will never see the Providence everyone to go out and play the San Jose Barracuda Unless unless it's the uh called a Cup final, they don't travel.
E mean Providence Bruins.
The further south they'll go is eyes.
The Carolina, um e can't believe.
I don't know all the speakers and and as far West they go, I think is Albany, New York or Adirondack or something like that.
That's it. They basically stay.
They play Wilksbehr Scranton.
They play Lehigh Valley.
Um, I can't remember the Hershey Bears, but they only play those teams down in in the Pennsylvania area.
Probably three and three that six games, three home, three away.
The rest of the rest of the schedule is pretty much built off, like your local teams in the north, in the higher Northeast, towards your area of operation.
So I mean, like, I've seen so many teams.
I mean Hartford 12 times.
Like when they when When the Manchester Monarchs had a team, I used to go up there all the time I had season tickets because they played each other 12 times.
I go to Providence six and I go up there for six.
But it's all about development and skating.
It's not about travel and exposure.
It's just just just about keeping Those is moving and always ready at a moments notice.
Because with the between NHL and the NHL, you can actually get on a flight and go wherever you want.
Predominantly in the East Coast.
Lee, what you do is you.
You finish your three day span and you're not gonna have another game to the next Friday.
That's your travel time.
And a lot of these guys travel by vehicle like I've seen.
So I've heard so many times that Jesse Gabriel and you know, company Copan, and they drove to Atlanta to go down there Thio to play games, and then they drove back.
So, yeah, it's all about money and and the H l doesn't have money to do it.
They have bust money. They have. That's it.
So that I mean, that makes more sense here, and that they don't really go to the West Coast and **** like that.
Do they like, Do they ever go toe like Scranton? Like? Like for, like, a weekend and playing twice? Not playing.
It's sporadic parts of the season, you know, like it's never like back to back games like that.
Just No, no, no.
I mean, no, not not, like, not like there's type stuff when you eat fast.
It's ***** Slug that down, girls, You know, like fish.
Listen, I am a sort fresh, fresh tuna.
I am a fresh tuna, seared and so on kind of guy and so to speak.
Yes, Like rare in the middle.
Now we're talking.
And And swordfish.
Then when I'm drunk, Asthmatic strip straight off the boat.
Well, I haven't had haddock.
I'm just getting around on a seafood.
I like salmon sit marinated in teriyaki.
I'll leave that up.
All the the teriyaki sauce.
I'll leave that up all day about ****.
I am the pickiest eater you'll ever see.
Oh, no, no, no, you're not.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
I am the biggest either. Yeah.
Now, listen, you you, sir.
We're not traumatized as a kid with salmon and white grave ing in peace.
Oh, Growth E came up with that concoction.
I'm some poor son of a ***** back in the 18 hundreds because it was easy.
It's like, you know, when you're growing up on the budget, your your parents got a budget and someone you get canned salmon, a canned beans and white gravy.
And it was It's over.
Toast to I can cook salmon.
I will not eat it.
I don't like salmon.
Well, you're in old school, chef, aren't you, Jack? Yeah.
Yeah, I can cook it very well.
I don't like it, uh, north in Maine, are you? I'm very self Okay.
Yeah, I'm in a gun. Quit.
Went old orchard every year and then? Yep, just a ah, wee bit north of me.
We been 20 minutes.
Maybe a half hour.
Yeah, we went there all the time.
You get to Portland a lot.
I go every once in a while.
Not since the cove it times hit.
I I I also really only moved up to me like during the covert times, but I've lived up here in the summers, my life and I usually go to Portland, like once the summer.
I planned on being there a lot more now that I moved up here, then obviously the pandemic hit.
So I haven't really been ableto go, which is a wicked big bummer.
Yeah, Jacko's from the reading area.
Yeah, I'm from reading.
I remember seeing in your bio.
Yeah. You play high school.
I'm sorry you put probably Tamaki.
I did play some hockey, but I never played for the high school team.
I always played like a Well, I I started playing outside the town after pee wee s and during p was a little bit. I played for two teams.
What? What year did you graduate? Uh, high school.
Jeez, you're making me think, uh, there's 2011.
E hope that's right, E.
I'm pretty sure I didn't really know.
Always have a good high school. Yeah.
Yeah, they still do.
They always have a really good high school team.
E think, my senior year they made the super eight and all that, or they couldn't win it all.
They one that they were the first public school to win the Super Eight.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
What, was he on that team? Uh, he was the captain.
They had Tosovsky, uh, in Patrick Kiley.
That's very sick And graduated in 94.
As seen by the gray hairs on this beauty beard.
What e was going to say? That's my boy. Nice.
Esther, eso, uh, anything you guys want to talk about and hit me up Hit us up on the chat to If you guys have questions, please, please get involved.
But any rumors, anything that is dropping, just hit it off.
Things that we're not getting.
This year s so ****ed off with that.
But I know that tournaments so driven on ass is in the seats and so on.
It's a It's a good money to make it for the colleges and and obviously the TD garden in the Boston area.
It just brings it Ah, lot for the for the first weekend for the first Monday when you got two games going on and then the following Monday, it goes down to you still get to games.
You get a consolation game top guys.
Yeah, yeah, that.
It just stinks for the three teams in Boston and the one fake Boston school, it's a great tournament, and it's really a lot of fun.
It just stinks for the fans.
Yeah, that really that really sucks.
Me and my dad, we were starting this tradition like think this would have been the third year.
So yeah, let's say, three years ago we went to the first.
We went to one I and it was like that was my first time ever going.
It was on Riel like it was just It was pretty sick because we had really good seats in.
We would watch, you know, the second half, the consolation game went to the championship and we'd watch the second half of the consolation game.
And then we watched the finals and all that.
It was pretty stick.
I was right on the glass this year to see be you personally get or last year be you personally get ****ed.
They got ****ed on like a I was at that, too.
That is literally right in front of me and I'm like, Oh, that was a brutal call, but I don't care.
I don't like BU, so I'm a venue fan that hurt.
Who's your team? B C Oh, you're You're the one team that's not inside Boston.
You're the fake school outside of Boston that gets letting the tournament because we feel bad.
It is be ranked this year.
Okay, Alright, alright, alright.
What have you done for me lately? Cosby used by the better team lately.
Finally, you're ranked.
And guess what? We might come out of nowhere and beat your ass.
It wouldn't surprise me.
I mean, it wasn't surprised DC always just like, kind of like it just kind of feels like they choke when they play.
Be just like mental midgets when it comes to be you.
And even though they got you know, Spencer night, Alex, new hook and stuff like that.
They have a bunch of talent on that B C team, but like they just don't know.
It kind of feels like they can't get it done.
They obviously didn't get it done in the being part and stuff like that.
But I also feel like a lot of beams.
Ranking has to do with how some of the superstars didn't perform last year.
And then they got that world junior experience.
They got all that.
They came back and they looked better.
But be used record was still so ****, and they were still so done before.
Those kids ever world juniors, I I could see them coming back and good.
See some of those players that went to those worlds coming back and having a much bigger impact on the team.
I could see that.
I mean, they were ****ing young team last year, too.
It's super young, but they were.
They were ranked to start the season and they really disappointed, and I I don't have a lot of confidence in the head coach there.
To be honest, he's definitely no David Quinn.
I hate to say that, but I watching the games and seeing how they were attacking opponents, I kinda I really and I still have kind of lost all faith in them and I think it is.
It's time to go in a different direction and I think that might be the Achilles heel of BU this year.
Yeah, but we'll see.
Um, they open up incident 20th.
20 e can't wait.
It's gonna be a We need some hockey back.
I've been fortunate.
Watch some U S H l stuff with Mason lore.
I he was picked in the second round in 2020 draft.
Um um Mason Langenbrunner.
I've seen these guys in the U.
S h l as they get prepared to go to N c.
A A Colleges next year.
Also, Jack Becker and John Beecher.
I've seen them at their lives.
He took that hit like a man and went off the ice.
Took, then did his, uh, his his quick concussion protocol.
And it was bad it was back on the bench. Yeah.
If he keeps admiring his, uh, Deeks like that, he's gonna end up then more than just the hospital in the NHL might go to the morgue.
Well, he was reaching for a loose puck.
He was trying to get through the line.
I start to play.
He thought he was dad.
And when he when he lost, he lost a puck a little bit.
He went to go recover it took his head off of what was coming at him, and then bam.
I mean, that was It was I thought it was a very clean hit, but, you know, they gave him a charge, but, yeah, they gave him a charge.
I'm not putting any stock in tow features season so far yet yet, I hope you mean I hope to be.
But the game came against Arizona.
Like I wanna I can't wait to see him against a real opponent.
I'm not taking anything away from him.
I'm just not putting anything towards him.
I want to see him Place, um, better competition and then formulate a better opinion.
I just I'm sorry, but Arizona like it just doesn't do it for me yet.
But I I'm also not taking anything away from I'm glad that he had a great game.
It pushes the needle, but it doesn't put the needle to the like, Wow, I'm really excited yet.
I mean, it's just it's just this Sunday almost.
It's nothing exciting.
What was it? Wasn't Beatrice started, like, kind of buzz towards the end of last season for his for a freshman year.
Yeah, under a Mel Pearson.
I thought he played well.
It was good that he got reps at left wing.
To which probably be, ah, better path to his NHL career.
To start at least, and then probably shift over to this under spot when there's availability.
But yeah, I think he What kind of sorry to cut you off.
What kind of player do you see him being like in the brain system teeth? Do you see him being in the burn system soon? Or like I mean, because obviously you know more about Beecher than any of us.
This is a This is his sop****re year, so he'll probably I mean, if you talk to some of the experts, they say he probably could leave, because when you look at the Bruins roster right now, I could see him probably leaving after his sop****re season or junior season and spending at least one year in the HL.
That's I think that's the key.
Now with Thio stew, these guys down there get him a little experience, learn the systems and then bring them right into the NHL so much like they did with Jake DeBrusk.
Um so, well, Mel Pearson.
Some help with that.
If I'm a top recruit, the last place I'm ever going is Michigan.
I would never play for that guy.
I think that that program should go downhill.
I think it will go downhill unless they get rid of Mel Pierce and then they move on from him because he clearly has shown that he doesn't care about developing players.
He cares about the program.
If you're a player that's looking to make the jump to the NHL Mobile and you believe in yourself, he's the last guy you should want to play for.
He's the last guy you should play for.
Hey, he only cares about his program.
He doesn't care about developing players, and that's gonna look really bad on Michigan.
I think for years to come and I I think what he did to that kid for Team Canada Powers is a fireable offense.
It's gonna kill your program, it it's it's ridiculous.
I mean, the world juniors is a platform where, like you can really develop a za player.
It's that pressure of like that's the closest pressure going to get to the NHL some.
Some players even say it's more pressure than NHL, and it's It's the closest pressure to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Ah, player playing under that could help his development like 10 fold.
If you're denying a kid that opportunity to play in that tournament, you should not be coaching college hockey, especially at an elite level.
I think Pearson's a joke.
I didn't even know about all this.
Yeah, I'm just I'm just learning everything right now.
So now I'm just gonna do some major freaking Google searches and and educate myself and possibly bring a topic.
Jack, thank you very much for that e even know that I got the I've had some tweets slightly to that have been a little firing e about it.
I absolutely love how you to go back and forth on Twitter.
It's It makes it fun to watch as an outsider because I e some of these tweets.
I'm like, ****, there might be some bad blood.
Or like it's because it's hard.
No, no, no. We're always good.
Yeah, it's hard to tell through Twitter, obviously.
I mean, you can see the emotions or anything I'm like, ****, They might actually not like each other, but, you know, they work well.
No, we just like we wanted to pay you.
You have to love to debate hockey there. Like being this.
Like what? Like my little your little brother.
I'm just like, No, no, no.
E mean, why would you Why would you try to do this if you don't like to debate Hacky like exactly like now it always cracks me off my love when I see it.
And then I always love when I see the chirps.
Mark flies that Jared.
Those are always fund.
Kind of relate those to Jared causes that working like Mark said this about you.
E always crack up with those do.
They're usually not hockey related.
I'm like, Jerry Shut up with the football, man.
This is not a football network.
E love football e no, but I see you took you be a little patriots had offer you a little warm.
Super hot my apartment, right? I could imagine melting.
All right, let me take a minute.
I got test the air quality, so I'll be right back.
Luckily, my Alabama Crimson Tide disappointed about it until, uh, our little brother at the end of the season.
Alright, they off right now? Uh, well l s u got canceled.
And now our schedules week Until, uh, we have little brother.
I think it's November 28th.
Oh, no, that's it.
I didn't even know that.
I mean, I've always been like, I've always liked Nick Saban, so I've always watched Obama, but I've never watched college football too closely.
Depend on Nick's haven is my award and savior.
Uh, it's like like Nick Saban.
Jesus! Your mother.
E mean they saving my Oh, whoa! Going on a rail? Always way, Dio.
Yeah, well, your your ass, like follows somewhere, like close to the top, but in the middle.
Well, I'm glad you're on the two karash train.
I can't stand people that are I completely agree.
Yeah, it's absurd what people say about him.
You know, it was funny as I had a conversation, a tweet back and forth from somebody I don't even follow.
So obviously just comes up on there because he see's to grasp, mentioned and just ****s on just the narrative of like, uh, asking me if I watched the 2011 playoffs.
And did you see what? To grass? I mean, not what Tim Thomas did.
And I said, Yeah, but and it was fantastic.
I'm always gonna admit that that was unbelievable. Goaltending.
And I'm not the biggest, uh, Tim Thomas fan and at all.
But do I appreciate the effort that I saw? Absolutely.
Could not have not appreciate something like that.
You haven't seen a goal, but thio? Nope.
Nope, but coming at me and to say that he was the Onley one that were that one, the cop that made the major reason why he won the cup.
While I think that's valid, I also come back with Listen, He couldn't have done it without 19 other people supporting him in front of him.
So what? Yes, it was.
There's very stack, Very sound, Seidenberg.
I mean, there's very shot down, and that's what they that's they needed with against the over a team like that.
That was just kind of come out.
I mean, the sardines and and good complement of of forwards coming at you with speed until one.
That defense was pretty decent in my opinion, no absolutely sad American shower.
It's like it was unreal.
And that's why I'm starting to see with Shower and Carlo on the on the PK.
But also, I mean, took arrest was gonna win the consummate if they won Game seven without a doubt.
So it's kind of crazy for people to just **** on him like, yeah, he didn't have the best Game seven, but not one Bruin did.
I mean, they were putting all the pressure they could, uh, in the world on in that first period, and, you know, they just couldn't find that goal, and Bennington was a better goalie.
But hey was still unreal in that hole playoff.
That playoff run.
He did his job and the in the Stanley Cup.
Obviously, he could have done a little bit better in Game seven.
But everybody, you could say that for every Burns player that you could say that for Bruce Cassidy.
I mean, it goes from top to bottom.
You could say that about everyone in that game.
Russia E place, um, Devil's Advocate as a It's a lot worse than Devil's Advocate.
It's like a different level of Devil's Advocate but I honestly don't put really any stock and Tim Thomas on that 2011 Stanley Cup run.
I think some of the goals he went in were beyond awful.
I mean, if you look at that, like Game one vs Vancouver, he lost them.
That game, like the completely outplayed Vancouver if took harass was a net.
The Bruins win that one, for sure.
Uh, he's always out of position.
He can't stay square to a puck to save his life.
He he flops around the net.
I think if the horse shoots out of his ass, the Bruins were done for.
I don't think he's a good goalie.
I he can't play visit hockey.
I think Tim Thomas is terrible.
I think to car ask is so much better.
And two Garages doesn't have the same luck.
Sugar for asking every single one of his playoffs has played better than Tim Thomas's best performance.
I think Tim Thomas stunk and I think the team was so good in front of him.
I mean, you've heard the Vancouver players going into that, Siri's I know it's one of them said on spending Chiclets.
They're like Holy **** we don't want.
The Bruins were John four, and I think that was really only a close serious because Tim Thomas played so terribly.
I think Tim Thomas stinks, and I'm not afraid to say it.
I I think he's a terrible goaltender, and I think the Bruins won in spite of Tim Thomas.
You, Tim Thomas lovers because to grasp is 10 times better.
Well, I I agree on that.
To Caracas is better.
Tim Thomas was never a great goalie, but his style of play is the reason why he made all those spectacular saves.
I mean, the Steve down the same.
And it was a game seven against Tampa Bay.
Um, that his I mean, obviously Game one of the Stanley Cup finals that cost him because the style of play a lot of games cost him because this style of play but he also made I mean, that's why people hate took arrest because he's so nonchalant about status because his position is so great.
His positioning was sucked like you said, and I totally agree with that.
But he so it caused him to make crazy saves.
And but I I mean, I love Tim Thomas that year.
I loved him for a few years, but, like obviously, that's why I didn't have the longevity like two car asked it in the NHL, he was, ah, mediocre goalie at best, and he just found a hot streak that year.
And, you know, he was making some crazy saved.
And at God, I can't even talk.
Hey was just unreal that year and he made some crazy saves.
And that's just how that's how I felt that year.
And I just I don't That's why I mean, what was it like a year or two after that, he went to Florida or, like, kind of fell off the face down in Florida on.
Yeah, well, I if you you know, it's funny.
But now we're talking about 10 times, and now you gotta get me in a whole different tangent here.
Do you remember when Hay was playing really well? One of Vezina and so on? Um And then there was rumors that they were wanted to trade him. Yeah.
Did you notice that right around that same time to begin the season? Because that's when the room was with flaring that, Hey, this guy's red heart, we could get something for him.
And it's not bad business toe.
Look at your roster and to say, Where can you improve? Who you gonna have to give up? You know, I'm saying that this was a low risk signing out of Europe.
The guy was a 299th pick from the Quebec Nordiques and whatever draft.
It was so long ago that this was just a gamble.
And now he's playing out of his mind.
He's got some value that we could possibly get something back.
But when he heard the trade rumors, did you notice that he went from a colored mask right to a white? Took the colors off of the mass? The black? Yeah.
Uh, Jared? That there's one.
There's one for you for your arm, Jared.
I can't use it now.
Well, you know, I'll forget it in two seconds.
Yeah, it was a design.
It was a time that didn't even like it could be any team.
It wasn't anything Bruins on it.
And as a goaltender, that takes pride in his paint and an team that that is the ultimate ultimate shot to the bow of an organization that just says you don't believe in me.
I'm going to show you.
And you know what? There's the horseshoe.
There's the drive to show that the team that he belongs and can win.
But oh, the horseshoe wasn't his assets on his head.
Uh, Tim Thomas was drafted the same year you graduated high school.
That's the year I was born a t least.
I had the Quebec right.
Did I get that? Did I get the overall right, though it was 2.
17, would you say to 39? You weren't that far off? No, I said to 99 e don't think.
OK? Well, back then the draft was a lot more than seven rounds.
It was longer. That's true.
Yeah, but 94 escape mark that there was a mighty Ducks cartoon e booth way guys, You know that mighty tux jersey.
This guy? Ah, yeah, e.
Why? I think this wild wing he saved puck world from Dragon on us like I mean, did you not watch the car takes in the cartoon? It's cool, but like it doesn't belong on a jersey.
Does that looks like wild playing the hero.
Best crime fighting duck hockey playing best hockey, playing, crime, fighting duct ever Waddle Wilder waddles like.
That's what I do when I walk at work water.
That's a little hockey thing.
At the end of my shift, I'm waddling to man Wild Wild Wings. The legend.
Have you ever fought crying and played hockey in the same day all the time? No, I saw the only one.
There's not a better defense, one that did it.
But other than that, nobody else has done that.
Oh yeah, Who cares about Wade Redden? Mhm.
You know we'd Wade Redden was very serviceable.
Back in his heyday, I saw Sean Avery or no, it wasn't trying to.
It was actually Michael Bisping tweeted that somebody bought paid $1.
5 million for a pitching.
I am most responsible.
The Ottawa Senators paid 6.
5 million for a pitch in his name.
Wait E would have been a beautiful shirt e pitching out of the office.
The transfer back and put Bird e would have been great.
One is Wade right in the most over played player in history, Eric.
He's probably overstated, but he was serviceable.
They believed in him over Ciara fine with the Bruins.
That's when I got a problem.
Yeah, And then the Bruins brought him on because he was really guy.
We don't care about that.
Just ignoring that part of history because Wade reading came to the Bruins to like, Yeah, I forgot for a cup of coffee.
Yeah, because like when you you said that his jersey just flashed into my head, I'm like, Oh, my God, he did.
Look back in the day looking back in the day.
Look at all the Cheryle signings. They will.
All buddy buddy moves. Peter Schaefer.
Um, remember him? The guy had he did have a six goal.
Chris Kelly, wait.
Are you talking about Peter Shaffer chipped it up over the goalie and then knocked it in.
No, he chipped it.
Um, he was skating in the real power move on the left side.
Okay? And somehow somehow got got the park around the player and then went this way.
I mean, basically, the puck went this way and he went that way and then still got the park and then knocked it right up.
Yeah, was unbelievable.
It was like, I don't even know I can't even do it.
I'll do it on Nestor, because I'm gonna run that mother****er over.
Yeah, I'm gonna clear you when we skate together.
Actually, I can't wait for that, man. I hope that happens.
We got we'll have to find a pond.
Yeah, we're gonna have to find We're gonna have to find a pond at this point because the I live right around the corner from the Framingham ranking.
It's You have to like I drive by sometimes during the day on Sunday when they're getting ready to go play.
I see kids in the parking lot changing.
You can't use the locker rooms. Can't.
No Corona Ville killed everything.
I'll always love that phrase.
Yeah, it's just like a town came in, took over the world, you know, just fricking I'm done.
I mean, the good There's good news that there there's two pharmaceutical companies in the United States that are working on one of them ****er, and they're up to the 90%.
Even one of them is reporting that they have 94% to set, but they still need trials were still months away from seeing all this.
But it's positive when you all right.
When you think about like, put hockey aside for a second, you think about life.
I wish it was happening faster because we all need this.
We're all gonna get back on track with our lives and jobs and everything, like I'm fortunate to be a essential employees.
So whatever happens, I still go to work.
Yeah, so but there's people out there that have lost their jobs and and not able to go back.
And and and then those people can't even find jobs because there's not enough to go around.
But I just wanted to be done and over with but bring hockey back into it.
That's the thing that I need.
And I'm happy that there's some things that are going on right now with the U. S.
H L in the N. C. A.
That provide a little bit of it but the NHL level.
It's just like gotta feed that need sooner or later.
My dad got completely screwed by this whole thing.
He's getting ready to retire.
So he went He, like, just downside is sighs his job on its own and went to some place where, like, you know, he could finish out and still make some money and like having easier time.
And then the coronavirus hit.
And now he's busier than he would be at his other job, where he'd be making more buddy.
Because now one of his biggest clients is so in South like that.
So now he's crazy.
E You couldn't have worse luck if you tried.
I mean, it's like there's people that have come into where I work and they're like, Yeah, bad week.
Uh, someone did something.
Your headphones came out.
No, my My headphones.
Yeah, it's a good job.
Uh, they come in like bad week, lost my job.
And I'm like, I've known these people for a long time now because I've been where I'm at for a long time, and I'm just like, ****, you didn't lose your job for court
