I don't think she I don't think she could help before.
All right, Look, like we're starting record.
Welcome to the news episode Sports Talk Central.
I'm your host of team a mood here with Hunter Ho days, North Coast.
We're gonna be talking about the latest in the one news and MLB Also, we're gonna recap Ravens, Steelers and then talk a little bit about college football.
All right, So the first for those who don't know the breaking new news for a couple months ago, the news was that the marlin tired? Kim a, uh, inch.
I don't know how to say that last name either, but it's the first female general manager in North American sports.
Sports is that the world is in North American sports.
North American sports.
Okay, Yeah, So that some people, some people, are gonna be snowflakes about it, You know, those people can get Ben.
Um, she has been around the game a long time.
I was actually really interested to see, um, a lot of people on Twitter like, Yeah, I'm wondering what Opry has to say about this or E or? And Curt Schilling. I wanna.
I was like, I don't care.
Like those guys are idiots.
You know what? If you know, I don't care what you know your stuff.
You know, your stuff, um, deserves it.
30 plus years, You know, this is a big day, not just for baseball, but, you know, for sports not only not even in this country, but around the world for people that follow MLB, I think he's not going to be the last, uh, female general manager.
Is there someone in Oakland? I can't remember.
I'll see if I'll try to bring her name up.
I'll give you two options as well for, uh, potentially that the next group of female executives in baseball.
But to go back to your experience, her experience? Um, Qiming, um, she in 1919, 98 she was risk the Yankees as an assistant GM.
And then in 2005, she interviewed for the Dodgers position general manager position.
But Ned Colletti one got that one.
And, uh, but Net kept her as an assistant gm.
And then in 2011, And then she, of course, interviewed for a bunch of other positions later on.
But then after then from 2011 to 2017.
She then worked for, uh, the C.
She became the senior vice president of baseball operations.
So she's definitely someone, uh, someone there that is very qualified for a position like this.
But also, there are potentially two other options that can come in at some point the next 10 to 15 years.
One is, uh, one is There's this, Uh uh.
I forgot her name, but she's in with the Orioles.
She's from besides the she does like a lot of the international scouting, and she's worked with Michael eyes before.
Um, and it wouldn't shock me if she became the next at least assistant general manager after Elias.
So that's another option.
Um, there's someone from the Oakland A's who is, uh, someone from the Oakland aides who I think could be the next G m.
I mean, she's a bit on the younger side, but I can't think of.
I can't think of the name right now and the reason why I know these names.
I want to say I want to say Haley Alvarez might be the name.
Yeah, and the reason why I know these names and with Kim's why Kim's name was familiar with because of the Orioles.
We're looking for GM.
Kim was actually one.
I believe what? One of the names and consideration And then Hayley Alvarez with another name and consideration.
But, um, it's well deserved for for Kim.
Yeah, I was just gonna coming onto that, You know, I pray for the day, You know, this will happen in the NFL.
This will happen in hockey.
This will happen in basketball.
Um, she is definitely not the last woman that will have a GM job.
North American sports.
So no, it's great to see.
Um, that this is this is this is just a big day for sports in this country.
So I'm really excited for it, right? Yeah.
So let's move on, Thio.
The NFL, The call called Beat the Titans yesterday.
I mean, I think watch the game, but I saw that I didn't know the sport, so I woke up this morning because I didn't watch it.
I was doing something with my friends, and I'm like, Wow, the colts put up 34 points on the Titans.
That was weird, right? I mean, it just makes it more impressive the the fact that the Ravens defense held them to like no point in the second half without Kallis, Campell and Marlon Humphrey and having like 56 of their guys not practicing because of Cove it.
But, I mean, it's to be really interesting with the that game.
Let's, uh, and speaking that I'll first talk about the Ravens this week and then we can go thio the Steelers.
So a lot of local.
First of what were your thoughts on the Mars recent comments about how like to predict predictability of the place I saw that well, you know, call different plays called different audibles.
Like, you know, you can't just, like, like, have, like, the same ones, but, like, just change up your audibles like to, like, just get to different place.
I guess I think that's the big thing.
Like the fact that defense is now know what you're gonna run.
You really shouldn't be saying that, to be honest, I mean, well, we had the markets brown tweet from a couple weeks ago, saying like, um, why have soldiers is not going to use them, and then what happened to argue he did that.
Yeah, well, here's what I say.
I like that Lamar's being honest.
Like he's not like he, um I would have a bigger problem, he said.
Oh, yeah, everything's fine.
My biggest thing was with this quote Waas that Greg Roman's Greg Room said, Oh, yeah, it's normal like And we were kind of was kind of going back to what I was bringing up last week where we had, where I said, Look at what happened with the 40 Niners.
Look at what happened with the Bills like this is a common trend.
I don't think, Greg, Roman, I'll be shocked if you've G Uh, if you see offensive coordinator in a couple of years for the Ravens, you're saying that last week? Yeah, so I would definitely say that.
I mean, it definitely seemed like the second half.
They let Lamar kind of deal like do the offense himself because he looked a lot better.
I mean, the first half is it forgettable like he was not good.
But then the second half, um, the whole team played better.
I think that I like the pace that they played.
If you looked at.
If you watched that game, he definitely had the like, you know, you know those phone booth throws where it's like a short room.
He like, uh, he has.
He has done a really good job with making those throws like he hit that one.
Throw words like he had to defender, uh, where you have, like two defenders, like on either side of Hollywood, like five yards back, and he just threads the right toe.
Hollywood, I mean, those air throws that are great now, obviously, he he definitely has concerns with outside the numbers.
But either it's either.
My theory is either because the Ravens don't have in number one receiver or that when you throw it outside the numbers, you need to put a little more loft on the ball so the angle changes.
So then there's the release point of other stuff, But then, when you have to throw like phone booths, throw there in the middle.
You can just kind of like the angles a lot shorter.
So, like if all the past a lot sharper.
So that's probably my theory on why he's better at those harder throws.
You would think they're being more difficult, But those easier throws, in theory, are a lot more heart.
Um, difficult for him.
But I thought that was great.
Um, does play to snaps like we never know what's gonna happen there.
Um, and then a defense, I think started playing came back.
The good thing is that most of our guys were practicing this week and Marlon Humphrey is coming back.
And so I mean, what? And then and then in your we have somewhat of an easier opponent with New England this week.
It's up in New England, which is it doesn't really care.
Bill Belichick can only do so much with that roster.
You should take care of them up there.
I mean, my thought is don't do any.
I know they're three and five.
I know that the Patriots are not what they were, but Bill Belichick is still the coach.
She's still there, so I mean, just keep that like, that's the one thing I would say.
Um, it looks like I think that I mean, it looks like they're gonna, um I would love to see what they were doing in the second half.
now it is interesting that the first half of last here in the first half of this year was Lamar.
His numbers were The offense itself was very similar.
I think of something like, Yeah, like is very similar.
So it'll be really interesting to see if Lamar's second half this year is very similar last year.
And I mean, just think about look at the schedule that the Ravens have for the remainder of the year.
New England, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Cleveland.
I want to say she science jag wires and Bengals.
So, yeah, so that's why the Steelers need to win these next two games and hopefully probably beat the Ravens on Thanksgiving night to clinch the North.
I mean, that's gonna Yeah, I mean, so honestly, I could see them going 12 and 4, 13 and three, Honestly, I mean, I think that's next.
The Titans game is gonna be tough.
The Steelers game is gonna be tough, is well, and that's gonna be on the short if's gonna be a short week game as well.
Yeah, so yeah, that that makes sense that zona, really it's to be really interesting, but then once you get there, I mean, Cleveland's always an issue.
Um, well, and once you get to Cleveland is just easy going from there.
So for me, with Lamar, I would afford Ravens.
I would say, Be smart.
Um, I don't want I know that.
I think that because they don't have a number one receiver.
Don't try to force the ball down the field.
Do what Brady is best ad like Do what Brady has been doing his entire career, which is work the middle of the field.
Um, throw those five or six or seven years passes because four or five of those and you have it's a third even moved 30 yards down the field run used to play action.
I don't like to see more play action on first down or just Thio receive the defense a little bit.
I mean, so there's hopefully and then work at a faster pace because the Ravens offense is very much on misdirection.
Yeah, yeah, there's a lot of like movement, so if you're unbalanced, you're not going, you struggle a lot more, and then I mean, the patriots stop there, Runyan, because no one is scared of the mere Bird or Jacoby Meyers are scared of you.
So he really can't pass the ball anymore.
Yeah, so, I mean, that's pretty much what I think.
Let's talk about the Steelers.
Like, what did you see from last week? I mean, yeah, that's the typical Tom when Trap game recipe right there.
Bad special teams plays defense, didn't look good.
And then the offense was inconsistent.
You know, the only thing that was missing was a couple of big Big Ben interceptions.
Thankfully, Mike McCarthy is a coward above all else.
Fourth and inches, two times kicks, field goals.
Thanks for keeping us in the game.
You know what's really interesting about about that decision? One of the first things Mike McCarthy was saying when he was hired was one of the first things I was looking at was the ****ytics.
I looked at ****ytics for fourth and inches when the defense could stop crap those first few quarters, I was just embarrassing.
Everyone on Twitter always loves to roast Mike McCarthy.
Eso Garrett Gilbert like, yeah, I actually didn't play like 1/4 stringer.
This kind of played like an actual confidence back up in there.
He didn't look bad at all.
Zeke was He's playing her.
But you know, I like CD lamb a lot.
The Marquis Cooper is still pretty good Michael Gallup.
But, you know, they finally handing the keys over to Bend when they started.
Just have him call the plays.
And then, you know, when he did that, they drove, They drive the ball down the field and, you know, juju again.
The stats aren't there for him, you know.
They're not gonna be like, Oh, my God.
Number one always have, like, one receiver per game that plays well, So you never know which one three weeks, though, like you're against you guys against Tennessee and then against Dallas, he's come up so clutch and like so many third down situations at the end of the game, so many big, crucial catches that key moments.
And you know, that's just who he is.
It's almost like it's like a Hines Ward kind of player, and, um, he's probably hopefully they pay him because I really want.
But when you see a free agent after this year s so they they have a lot of contracts actually come up and he's one of them, so I'm really hoping they keep him.
He's their best wide receiver.
He's been showing up these last few weeks.
But James Washington showed up this past week, which was nice.
You know, you finally had a good Deontay Johnson moment.
He makes guys missed like it's nothing like that 40 yard catch.
I mean, that's just how shipping he is.
Well, a bit of a rough game, but, you know, I think he can bounce back.
He had some drops that very uncharacteristic of him. He's a rookie.
They got to get the run game going.
The offensive line.
I thought it was atrocious.
That's part of the worst offensive line play I've seen from the Steelers.
Strange, You gotta go back a lot of years.
It was that, but defensively they were getting carved up too much.
That was embarrassing the watch.
But then in the fourth quarter, they really clamp down on makeup.
Fitzpatrick again saves the game.
He's, you know, even when he's not being targeted, he's still making plays.
That's the thing with him and he's been great.
Um, they know I'm beginning my killing back this week.
Tom one did speak today.
He said he expects Big Ben to be off the covert reserve list, so it looks like he's been testing negative each day.
So you guys gonna miss Vance McDonald? Yeah, he hasn't really hasn't really been getting he mostly just blocks.
Usually it's Ebron been catching the ball, so I mean in the run, blocking its the bigger lost.
But, you know, it was another game they should win.
They beat the Bengals 10 times in a row, so my math is correct.
They have not beaten the Steelers since 2015, 10 games.
How they played this year yet? No, I think I think it's been 10 years, 5, 10 games.
That's five years, because I think it was DeAngelo Williams was starting and we blocked a field goal with.
You still want the game? Uh, but yeah, Since then, I think the Steelers have beaten them every time 13 out of the last 14 games.
Actually, so one time in, like the last 67 years, you know there's no rivalry is dangles.
Hands like to call it.
It's just a big brother little brother thing.
Hopefully, the sailors can continue that.
What? Keep winning these? You only win this game and you have Jacksonville the next week that teams so obviously tanking.
It's just not flying.
I don't know who is their starter now.
They wouldn't or something.
I don't even know who he is.
I've never heard of them.
That's just like they're They're tanking for the They're thinking for Lawrence.
So? So I mean, it's not It's hard to stop.
It's gonna be hard to top the Jets.
Yes, they should have won that game.
Oh, you get out of gays.
I mean, these two games, you should get your problem. No.
If you beat Baltimore divisions, probably yours.
You beat Baltimore at that point.
And then if they have the Redskins, you have the Washington is gonna start Alex Smith.
After 12 games, you're looking at at least 11.
I mean, you have a playoff spot locked up right now, but assuredly 11 1 at that point that he went three of these four Next game, so and then the rest of the way, they have the Colts at home.
I think they can beat the Colts.
I don't trust over her.
Is that much? Um, you have Cleveland and Cincinnati, I think.
And then, um, we owe you play the Giants Eagles watching football team in Dallas.
Uh oh, yeah, Yeah, That's the big game Buffalo that's gonna be there.
So there are two big games, big games, like basically you guys in Buffalo and that buffalo is gonna be really tough to win up there.
So if you guys play what, the second place team? So it's Yeah.
So it's buffalo.
It's, um, the Titans.
And it's, um uh who? The other team charger? No, not Chargers Chargers.
Um, we played Denver this year.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, yeah, you're right.
The right, um us and, uh, Buffalo are gonna be two big ones.
I think Steelers could probably finish, like, 13.
13 and 3 14 and to Yeah, I mean, yeah.
I mean, you guys are in good shape in that front.
Uh, there's some other news.
I mean, I was also Oh, no.
Like what? What I was also gonna say is job, um, Bangles do have Joe Burrow.
He's gonna be so it's gonna be tough.
I mean, I don't think they do it, but I think they keep it a lot closer than what people think s So it's gonna be tougher than some people think.
I love to harp on the Bangles just because it's yours of them.
But no job wanted to play, so it's gonna be shooting a game.
I mean, let me just ask you a question that, like, with get this is like, midway through a season.
Like if you have, if you are, If you were like Ken Colbert, Um, and you had the first round pick Which position next year.
Yeah, that's so tough, actually.
And actually, just because they're so deep, I would I'll be really interested to see if you guys go for, like, a tight end or some or something.
You know, I think a tight end is gonna be high on their list.
If James Connor walks, I think maybe another running back.
And I think he's definitely out there.
Especially with Brown having one year left on his deal, right? I mean, if Colin Pits goes to you guys, that's not fun at all.
Yeah, He's the best tight end of the class or fire mouth sort of got from Penn State.
He's another guy that could work good, too.
Yeah. I mean, I think it's the Ravens.
I think that either o line get like, um, either a line get like like a good right guard or center.
Or a guy like create Humphrey from Oklahoma, who can probably can play center who could play right or left guard.
He's very he's, you know, I think he's a senior.
He's a senior, so I think he's a good option.
Um, I I wouldn't It wouldn't shock me if they go go receiver.
So maybe guys like Terrence Marshall Junior out of like, L s u uh, okay, I like to see them go on, get like a bigger receiver.
Me, But I'll say, Oh, line either online or pass rusher.
I know that we saw who's to do from Wake Forest that people are saying first round E can't think of his name Carlos something.
I can't think it's funny at him.
I think you might be a good option, like because I think they resigned Janek to a long term deal I think, um, shoot on walks.
Uh, Julian gets goes to another team.
I think if you get another pass rusher there, that's great.
Uh, so I mean, that's what I think they'll go.
That I mean, other news stories.
I mean, what were your thoughts on Thio in the first couple games? Great.
You know, they're they're probably make the playoffs.
I think this year, and that was a quick turnaround to, uh I think that last spot's gonna be interesting, though. That's them in the Browns.
I mean, obviously.
Well, well, the two a f c.
I know those to the two a f c South teams, I think should make it too.
So that's going to be see if he was waving your keeps bills, um, dolphins and then, yeah, Browns, colts.
I mean, it should be identity of the Raiders, too.
So, uh, one of those things is gonna make I mean, one of those last few teams gonna miss.
So I'm curious to see who it's gonna be about Really tired for to a hell.
He's look great.
I mean, that came against Arizona.
Well, that was a great game just to see the future because you got Tyler on the other side as well.
Hopefully, they make playoffs this year.
I want to see Arizona get in just for a little bit sick.
But yeah, they made the right decision to go to a.
I know if it's magic is not gonna be happy about it, but the Dolphins look pretty good.
I want to see them play the Bills again.
Actually, have your phone game.
What's the playoff race right now? I would assume that the playoff race is Kansas City.
I'm gonna say Cult buffalo, Those of your four division winners I Baltimore five Titans.
I'll say what he's and then Baltimore Rising will be five.
And I think the last year's bosses is gonna be two out of Tennessee.
The Miami Vegas? Yeah, I mean, e.
I think it's I with tough.
I mean, I think Do you think 11 and five like out of those teams, especially 56 and seven? Do you think 11 and five gets used to playoffs? Yeah, I think it will.
What's the matter? What's like the worst record? Do you think we'll get a team, which is the playoffs s.
No, no, no, no, no.
That's a train wreck.
Now I'm thinking, like in the A F.
So you think 10 and six like a team goes 10 60. Got decent chance.
NFC East is something completely different.
Like, honestly, I don't think they should have a home playoff game.
But it's probably the Eagles, though.
So All right. Yeah, that's yeah.
I mean, that's interesting.
So, going from one dumpster fire to another show.
Should we touch on Virginia Tech now? Yeah.
I mean, I'll say this.
So like, I know you, I know you're saying off like the 20 stuff.
Here's what I say.
Yeah, the defensive staff.
No defensive staff, I think.
Give them two more years.
Give those guys two more years because a lot of what a lot of fans don't realize is Hamilton is in his first year as defensive coordinator.
Um, you know so either the guys that they've promoted are in their first year in their new position or the guides they brought in from outside are in their first year, and its covert related in this season's been affected by covert so defensively.
Fine, keep them there.
Fuente itself is a different problem.
We could we could touch upon that little later.
But yeah, the tight, I think.
Core Nelson receivers coach, tight ends coach.
Everyone else can stay.
That's just my opinion.
I because the old line has been solid run game has been decent.
Yeah, I mean so to me.
I mean, I think that I like a lot of it was like fan reaction like fire Fuente.
What do you guys like? Here's what.
I'll explain my perspective.
I In theory, I'm with you guys because I think, um, want a is a transition coach.
He's the coach Like, um, he's like he's the coach. You transition.
He's a transition coach.
You hire when Whit Bab**** says it's going to take about 5 to 10 years to find a long term Frank Beamer replacement.
So we're gonna go and bring in Justin Fuente, who can at least have an average team for seven or eight years, and then when we find the right guy, we will go and switch replacing there.
But the issue that I have with people wanting quantity to be fired.
Is that? Like I said, I'm with you guys.
He's a transition coach.
He's not the long term fit for his program.
But who are? The finances are a problem.
Not just getting getting rid of 20 but who are you? Who are you getting because you're not? I would love to see.
I would love to see Harbaugh for one or two years, but that's not gonna happen.
Someone that would take this job.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
I'm not saying like I know people would take this job.
Well, yeah, but what I'm saying is fans have just, um, goal of Hey, let's go and get a Jim Harbaugh type coach.
Yeah, yeah, but like, what are your thoughts? And like, what? On that stuff On what type of coach Fan Fun.
E think we could go out and get like a coach, like, not in a powerful program to come here.
He's, like, Okay.
I mean, someone said like the This is a pipe dream.
No, someone said like the Cincinnati coach.
What's his name? Fickle.
I think the way I look fickle.
Yeah. People were wanting him.
I don't think he would leave Cincinnati, but that would be a slam dunk higher if they were able to get Todd Grantham, the defensive coordinator out of Florida on.
And if I'm if I'm, if I remember correctly, did, doesn't he have ties to doing a Tech? I think he does, Yeah, but it's just like the thing with him is he's just suck the life out of the program as stands.
And it's just not a fun producto watch anymore.
He gets out coached virtually every game on I know the big thing is the buyout.
It's like 12 million.
The school is short on money for a lot of reasons.
This pandemic being one of them, it would be very I I think he's gonna be here for another couple of years, one, I think, one of the least.
But if they somehow I still would be surprised if he's gone, though, I would not be surprised.
But if they do decide to bring it back for you also won't be surprised either.
But it's just like it's just the product on the field is not fun.
He gets out coached.
He makes stupid decisions, you know, like, yeah, let's call a time out on a 59 yard field goal that wasn't a block block for goal.
Um, that would have won them the game.
And instead, you know, like, instill him.
It's like, But you understand what? I'm asking the question right, because we have Hindsight's 2020.
So we know what happened.
Like what the play could have been.
But I'm thinking, if it was something completely different, do you think that fans have been as upset with front? I I don't think so.
They would have been upset because 40 ice the kicker 50 yards.
I think they still would have been pretty upset, because if you look at it like ****ytically like icing, the kicker almost never work.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but my point My point being was that because we knew that the play was a blocked field goal, that which lets the game winning touchdown that got fans even more upset.
Of course, yeah, there's just no need for it, like, say, like he misses it and it's like, Okay, whatever this is again, you have a time out like you still go and like you time out after Like they got it back there like playing prevent defense and they gave them 10 3 yards.
That's Hamilton fault because I knew they were going that way.
I knew they were going that way When when the commenter said that, Hey, the guy on the left is not being covered.
I was like, They're going that way.
The dollar is just terrible.
Yeah, I know that's a rookie mistake, but you can't make that kind of rookie mistake.
And then, you know, I'm just I'm tired of losing the teams like Liberty, Wake Forest, Duke.
Oh, do you teams They should just be blowing out on a weekly basis with the talent that they have, the offensive personnel that they have held, the defense of personal that they have and you're losing games.
Two teams that are just like they don't have enough.
They don't even have the talent close enough to the talent level that you have, and it's just like it's comical.
That's not coaching staff.
So, like I know, like and two different issues like Hamilton, at least you could say he's inexperienced in his role.
Yeah, with core Nelson.
He's just stubborn.
Yeah, he's stubborn.
He's he calls the stupidest plays imaginable.
And then the head coaches just in over his head.
I think you know, this is the big thing that read from the key play.
You know, I love that site, you know, for the first year and a half, this actually seemed like a slam dunk fit.
The team was really good.
They were on the right direction.
But, you know, sometimes you see that the Fit is not working out and it hasn't been.
And I think the mistake was started cutting off.
The mistake was, after the first year, giving him the extension right away.
That's the Yeah, I hear you on that.
And then it's just like the fit is just not there anymore.
And now, now the people that were on the fence like me have really turned on you the fan base, and this is a proud, proud fan base who has very loyal to I mean, this is probably the most loyal college football fan bases in the world in the nation, I should say, and you know, it's just they did we deserve better than this.
It's just it's just a situation.
It makes it a lot harder because there's a lot more variables we have to consider its finances.
Like I said, I'm like, Look, I want him gone.
I know you want him gone, too.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like for me? Like, yeah, Like I said.
And I sound like a broken record.
I want him gone.
But for me, my big concerns like fans think about one half of the argument on here.
You're talking this, but it's one half of the argument of Okay, let's get rid of him.
But what they don't realize is the second half is Who are you gonna replace him with? Because I can guarantee you the guys who have, um, like, the resumes that they would be looking at would be very similar.
Fuentes, you see who they would consider for it if they have a similar resume, or even better.
Yeah, well, I think we I think that we did get a chance to look at it through when Buzz Williams left for A and M.
They didn't really have.
They didn't go for, like, the big name coaches like, Yeah.
Oh, Yeah, yeah. No.
One thing is one of the first guys they that they were considering who was the team that beat U Va.
And, like, uh, around 64 UMBC, the guy from UMBC who was actually a Virginia Tech assistant.
That was the first guy they wanted.
He said, No, we don't.
I'm going to the u N B C.
And then they went to Mike Young.
I mean, these are guys that are on the cheaper side.
They're more, they're on cheaper site.
They're good, but they're not your high profile coaches.
You're not getting Coach K.
You're not getting Jimbo heem level churches.
So I would imagine, uh, for football, it would be kind of like the same principle, like even even baseball.
Like when they fired um, their coach.
They went out, got John Chef, who was like, I think the head coach Maryland.
No one really knows who he was, and he's done decent job.
But, I mean, I need follow the team a little more, but yeah, I mean, I would Here's what I would say.
I think that Hamilton would get an opportunity because because here's the other thing was replacing a coach schematically.
How did that change? The team's dramatically? Because if it's a drastic change, you're looking at, what, two or three years of adjustment.
But if it's a similar change, then um, that's fine.
So that's just my thing.
Like I would love Thio.
Look, I would I don't see if wanted being a long term fixed, but the same time I'm not guarantee.
I don't know if the guy who's going to replace him is going to be just at no, at least as good as Fuente because, I mean, you should be able t o right.
But here's me and I think all for change.
Tech fans can agree with this.
We don't want to turn into like the Cleveland Browns here.
I don't need to turn into the New York Jets.
I don't need Adam gays in my head, coach, No.
Yeah, but yeah, but you understand what I mean with, like, that's in the Browns.
Like they always go through like coaches like I would just wanted.
They have two more of the next higher that they make.
Yeah, that's yeah, that's my thing.
So if there's a higher out there that like Luke, Fickle or like a like grants, Um, like Todd Grantham, the D coordinator out of Florida.
Uh, and by the way, I think in which kind of we can kind of brief.
We talk about this.
What do you think? Where if it's fortunate we were to be fired, Which direction do you think they go? Do you think they go defensively or defensive coach or offensive coach? Uh, you know, you have a great offense.
Still attendant Hooker.
You still trade Turner and Octavian Robinson all that.
There we go. Offense, to be honest.
So here's the tricky thing, though.
Is it because I think that Hamilton is there for a long term? E think that Hamilton is there for the long term? So if you go defensive head coach and then you have defensive because I think handle Justin Hamilton might be, at some point, the head coach.
He just doesn't have the experience.
We don't know if that's the case and because I know a lot of and let's put it this way.
If you're Hokies fan out here listening to this, I know the one name you're gonna bring up if they're gonna bring up is Shane Beamer.
That's coming up a lot.
But the problem here is the thing, though.
If you thought that's want, replacing Frank Beamer was hard.
Why not tell? Say no.
Hey, by the way, here's your head.
First head coaching job.
And, by the way, uh, for 30 years, your dad coast here so it would be talking.
So that's my only concern.
Like Hamilton, what I like about Justin Hamilton is he's been with the program a long time, but he doesn't have, like, the last name connection.
There's not that much pressure, but he also is very inexperienced, as we can clearly see.
So I would love to see.
Maybe I would love to see Grantham.
That's the guy I would want to see. Coach.
He has defensive coordinator experience, so he definitely has experience in that regard.
He has ties to the program.
He's been in the SEC, so if he can recruit in Florida, I could definitely see like recruiting, going better there.
I don't e think it's tough.
I mean, I think you go with for me.
It's who is where the strength of your team is it's the strength of your team is defense at that moment.
Then you go with the defensive head coach.
If the strength of your team's offense, you go with the offensive head coach, I think that's my That's what I would say.
Um, but I would say that, But until following next four games, you have Miami, you have pit you have you be a constant e v a e.
Think it's, um e don't even know what games they're gonna win now.
I think they I think they I think they'll win a pit.
I think they'll win.
You ve I think they'll win Clemson.
They'll lose this game, Their favorite in this game this weekend, which is hilarious to me that people think they're gonna their favorite.
Um, it would be Virginia Tech football to win this game.
Yeah, like, and you know, it's really interesting, though the season last year season wasn't great, Um, because we already had Willis.
That's a quarterback for like, the first half fish of the season.
Yeah, And then what game did handed her? Like what? For what game today? Announced and and hooker with me starting Miami and what game and then we had, um, doubts.
What game is next? Um, Miami.
So maybe, uh, maybe something like that.
And if let's think Virginia Tech goes three and one in the next three games.
What? What? What were your thoughts about 20 minutes coaching staff? Be? I think that I mean, for me, I would.
It's like, OK, great.
It's like if they go to, it's like it's It's just like two and 21 and three like that stuff.
Then it's like, Okay, there's something wrong here.
300 like because 31 At least you could be an average team.
And the last thing I'll say is fans expect Virginia Tech to be a national championship team.
I wouldn't go that far.
Fans expected between 10 year like they used Teoh, right? I think that should be the expectation.
Oh, yeah, I know.
Yeah, like, yeah, like my point being is like my point being is fans either are close or at the point where they think, Oh, we could be, like, maybe not like, Alabama and Clemson.
But maybe that second tier is like, No, we're not.
Even in that second year, our our our goal should be.
Can we be the second best team in the A C C. Let's start there.
It's consistently be the second best team in the A C. C.
Then we could get into Penn State, the Penn State Territory, the Texas territory.
The what else? Oklahoma.
I think it's following.
It's following Officer that second here.
Like in that, like in that territory of teams that like Michigan to Yeah, speaking of Michigan, teasing Harbaugh, it keeps his job and a couple years, one that's gonna be tough contracts up for you.
Yeah, so, like eso for me, It's like you know that tear.
Here's what I love to see Virginia Tech be and I'll hear your thoughts.
And it's not the ones that are gonna make the culture while playoffs every year, like your Alabama is your like that stuff.
But seems like Penn State.
Oklahoma, Um, get your conference championship.
Yeah, get get to conference championship game and one of you.
And if one of those teams, and if one of those teams that we know that typically against a college football playoffs miss it, we have a chance.
That's where I think that's where I think I would like to see him in 10 years.
Usually you a fine expiration.
So I guess that will conclude today's episode of sports sports socks central.
Think, uh, I'll tweet out the Lynches episode in case you missed part of it, but yeah.
I mean, every Friday, we have a new show at 2 p.m.
And we hope to see all of you listening again.
Yeah, We'll see you guys next Friday.
I'll see you, buddy.
