And we are live.
We're running a little bit behind for anybody that was looking for this, but my deal didn't wanna load.
Sometimes you win.
Sometimes you lose.
Were there now, so we gotta take care of a couple housekeeping.
Things here get loaded up.
Yeah, it's typing.
I remember talking.
I'm doing this thing.
Got anybody else watching and gotta make sure that tag A buddy of mine in this for he says he's never gambling on college again.
Yeah, I give him some ****.
Alright, Rockets, Um, solid Eminem vibe.
So I'm definitely in the mood tonight.
Let's get into it.
Welcome to the degenerates corner.
This is Garret from Iowa.
You can find me on Twitter at Garrett from Iowa.
The degenerates corner today for the first time is brought to you by the unwrapped sports network.
Find them at unwrapped sports on Twitter.
Great network of people really happy to be on there.
And we're gonna be talking some Hawkeyes and some gambling today.
Hey, slow down a little bit to that.
My first time went a little hot and heavy with 12 minutes It was awesome.
I don't know if you all were around for that, but it was a great time.
Uh, today's show.
We're gonna recap Hawkeye's dominant win versus Michigan State.
We're gonna take a look at the Minnesota game upcoming that I'll be a good one.
And then we're gonna have some gambling picks, college and NFL for, But make sure you got your beers crack.
Smoke's going smoke em If you got them, boys, here we go.
All right, start off with the recap.
Hawkeyes came out hot this week.
I don't know if it was the coronavirus in the spring training and or lack thereof were knocking rust off, but they finally looked like a football team this week, and I looked kind of like a fool because I was definitely losing faith in friends last week.
And he did a lot to gain a lot of faith back last week on they started off.
Goodson scored a touchdown.
Uh, pet just threw a touchdown, had special returns special teams touchdown with a punt return of 54 yards and interception return of 54 yards for another touchdown.
Nothing that happened they just never looked back.
A statement of how I will football is going.
I was not ready to celebrate at halftime because I did not feel like a 35 point lead meant we were safe.
But after the last two weeks, I feel like that's understandable.
I think a lot of Hawkeye fans were in that boat with me also.
But Sergeant busted into the end zone twice, put another two TDs on, and, uh, defense gave up one.
So that's to be expected.
It's really hard to hold the team scoreless.
Well, we ended up one and 49 7.
I mean, it was Iowa all day, all day, that game.
It was just It was beautiful to watch it.
It was everything that makes you an Iowa fan.
Uh, takeaways this week are really gonna focus on the takeaways from last week for you guys that were around.
I was really disappointed in Spencer's performance play, calling things like that and the fact that they just they seemed like they had really gotten away from Iowa football.
What makes Iowa football great, but they definitely they fixed that, and then some against Michigan State and Michigan.
state had just knocked off Michigan, so they were coming in hot.
I'm pretty sure I might have told people last week to stay away from this game with a 10 ft pole has followed her as gambling goes and I was wrong, I'll admit it. I was wrong.
It was definitely a game. You should have. Bet.
Yeah, why? I did not will cover that a little bit more later.
But uh huh, I offense 405 yards.
Everything you want.
Petrus 15 or Petra's.
I'm still not sure how you're supposed to say his name, but, you know, I'm talking about 15 to 2700 and 67 yards and a TD.
That's what we want.
We don't want this guy slinging 50 some passes a game we talked about last week.
They it was 50 passes, 22 run place.
You can't win a football game doing that, And they obviously didn't this week.
27 passes, beautiful 167 yards.
Beautiful one TD, no picks.
The no pics was huge.
He threw three of them last week, so that was a really big step up.
Really, Like seeing that that's my hat was looking kind of funny with my headphones, so I was really happy to see that.
Goodson led the Russian attack with 113 yards on 14 carries and a pair of TDs UH, 226 yards rushing between the two backs.
We did not see a bunch of ivory, Kellie Martin, but with Goodson looking like he does and like he has so far just unstoppable, Tank and Sergeant backing him up.
I don't really know how much we need to have Ivory Kellie Martin in the game, so I'm very happy with Russian Attack looked absolutely great and they just they hammered the run.
They kept the pressure off Spencer and they let him just make solid throws.
He's still, he has a bad throws. He missed him receivers.
But it's like I talked about last week where if he would have won the game in the fourth quarter last week, the three picks would have been for gotten this week.
The bad throws are basically for gotten because they won the game, so that's just really happy to see him get back to the run, start playing some Iowa football again last big take away from the offense.
Thea, since of Smith Mar set, which I mean, I'll take my lumps where I when I have Thio and I seriously did not think we'd see him back on the field this year.
And apparently one game suspension is always catching, so he will be back first. Minnesota.
But we didn't really miss him.
I mean, our receivers look good.
Brandon Smith had a touchdown.
He had a pretty good game and they just they stepped up Next man up in the receiving corps had a solid game.
Still one even missing.
Smith Marsh set defense.
What more do you want from your defense Force? Three picks from Rocky Lombardy.
I mean, how much more football kind of guys named get than Rocky Lombardy? Just all time great football game.
He had 300 yards passing in each of his previous games had come in.
He was coming into this game hot.
Like I said, they had knocked off Michigan.
He was looking to have a game, and Iowa picked him three times.
One time for a pick six.
What more do you want from your defense? Uh, 227 yards.
They held Lombardy to 227 yards, no TDs and as the aforementioned three picks, just absolutely all time great performance from a great defense, and we knew they were good.
It was just a matter of time before they had one of these games, and the offense gave them enough points that it didn't matter.
And that's what we've been waiting for.
And we got to see it.
It was man, it was beautiful.
Oh, and okay, yeah, I don't really know what else to say about the defense. They made.
That Spartan offense looked like a J B squad.
They could not do anything they put together.
One drive got won t d in the third quarter when it didn't matter and that that's how bad they pushed him around the first half.
By the third quarter, it was garbage time, and the one TV never met only 59 yards rushing.
Yeah, hold on offense to 59 yards rushing.
That's Iowa football all day, and I mean, we're only gonna get better delving into the preview a little bit.
But Jack Campbell is coming back to play linebacker this week he's been out with mono.
He was supposed to be pretty much the cornerstone of this defense.
I'm not going to say we would have won either the first two games with him in there, but it wouldn't have hurt.
But I mean, that's neither here nor there, because there's a lot more going on in those games than the defense.
So just really excited to see him back on the field.
And, yeah, like I said before, the biggest take away from this game on the recap is after the loss.
The Northwestern at Kinnick.
Ah, lot of Iowa fans myself included.
I'm not ashamed to put myself in that group way thought that we thought this season was D o a.
E mean they looked horrible and like I said at the top, I don't know if it took him a couple.
We extra weeks knock the rust off because of the coronavirus protocols and lack of training, lack of spring football, what was going on there, but they looked hard.
This looked like a different team.
They look terrible the first two weeks on the offensive side of the ball and they just came out and ran shop and you love to see it.
You just love to see it play with, uh, front table and guess momentum to our That's the ball team coming in hot and taking down Illinois shoutout thio, my Illinois boys that they're watching.
But next up, we have Minnesota.
They air coming into Kinnick.
Um, we beat him last year and they were supposed to be hot **** last year, so I'm pretty hopeful about this.
Uh, they lost a heartbreaker to Maryland in overtime, lost by one.
So that game was kind of a wash.
As far as how they're doing.
They got absolutely road by Michigan, just never had a chance in the game, and they beat a struggling Illinois team, though They are one and two coming into the game, same as us.
Uh, their losses.
The Michigan lost look a lot worse than are either of ours.
The Maryland loss was a little bit of luck.
You'll have that.
I still think we're gonna run all over them.
The receiving corps is not what it was last year.
They're missing one of the top offensive receivers from last year, and they just aren't putting up the numbers they're beating Russia is way ahead of their quarterback and has way more rushing yards in.
The quarterback has passing yards, and that was not the case last year.
So I really think especially with Campbell coming back, I if you could bottle up the run, enforce Minnesota the throw, we're just gonna walk all over him.
We got some ball hawkers in the back defensive backfield probably think they're going to do anything.
And as long as our offense has actually shaken off the rust and it doesn't completely **** the bed like they did the first few games, we're gonna come away with the win here.
There's there's no reason not to.
This Minnesota team is not the team.
It was last year and we beat them last year, so I'm not big on previous.
Most of my previous are I was gonna win.
So that is what it is, but definitely should be able to take down this Minnesota team, get us to tune to set up a possibility to run out.
We're gonna need some luck.
We're gonna need some luck, have some stellar games and at probably at least one perfect game from Spencer to make that happen, But I don't feel like it's outside the realm of possibility.
So there is hope in Iowa City again.
Any Hawkeye fans watching this? I hope you're feeling it because we're back, Baby, we're back.
So real quick for the Livestream.
You won't hear it.
I'm gonna drop spot for anchor in here on the podcast.
Quick pause for that.
Moving on two picks.
I'm gonna start NFL this week because there is a game currently going on.
Uh, they are halfway through the second.
Tennessee versus the Colts.
Titans verse, Colts, Titans air up 10 3 Halfway through the second quarter, I did take the under on this game.
I really thought it was gonna be more of a defensive battle.
If that holds up the halftime or even 17 3 at half, I'll still feel pretty good about that Under, I have no idea who's gonna win this game.
It's a who's gonna show up, you know? Well, what Tennessee team is going to show up? What's India? What India team is going to show up? They both em bears the Bears, the seasons crapshoot.
But I definitely feel their India has the number three defense in the NFL right now, so I definitely see a little scoring game and, like be under If you could still get on that.
And then I got three games I like putting money on.
I'll probably put a 12 leg parlay on Twitter.
Uh, I usually do that on Saturday, but put a big parlay on.
You know, try to win the house right? Right now.
I got Buffalo vs Arizona.
I'm taking the Buffalo.
Moneyline's Josh Allen is looking hot again, Uh, thoughts and prayers toe.
Josh Allen and his family lost his grandma last week and came out and through the game of his life, so that was definitely impressive and in Arizona is good, but Minnesota has a better sorry.
Buffalo has a better defense.
I was looking too far ahead on my notes.
Buffalo is a better defense in Arizona does, and I think their offenses are fairly evenly match.
So I think the Buffalo would come ahead on this, I said.
I got them on Moneyline at plus 1 20.
They are underdogs.
I think the over it probably a good bet.
I don't do a lot of over unders.
I just I really liked.
It's gotta be a really tempting one, like the Tennessee Indiana, where Indianapolis game toe get me into the over under game.
But I think the over probably a pretty good bet on that also, and for anybody watching this the first time.
Any pick I give out, I have put money on it.
I don't I don't screw around and pick the whole slate or all the games or any of that.
If it's a pick that I give out on this show, or if you listen to the podcast on the podcast, it's because I have money on it.
Next one, I got the Raiders.
I'm taking the spread on that Raiders verse.
Denver Raiders are negative four on the spread and you pick him up at negative 1 10 against the spread.
Um, Broncos aren't very good this year, and the Raiders are.
And the main reason I took this bad is there wasn't a whole lot of money line bets looking really good, and the Moneyline odds for the Raiders were like negative to 20 or some ****.
So jumped in on the spread just to make a little bit more money on the bet and last game for the NFL.
Bears Vikings on Monday Night Football.
Ladies and gentlemen regular.
You can pick up the Bears.
That plus 1 30 money line.
This is a solid bed.
I know the Bears have struggled.
Offense has problems.
Play calling has problems, but it's Kirk Cousins playing on a Monday night game.
Can't play on a game because it just does not play on Monday nights.
That's all there is to it.
So, yeah, Hammer, that bears money, line all day, every day.
And I'm pretty sure Nagy is like, nine and O or some **** versus the Vikings to Yeah, I understand the Bears have struggled and the Vikings air hot, but cousins can't play on Monday night.
Nagy is undefeated and he can't call plays.
So even not being able to call plays, he's still undefeated, So yeah, definitely, really.
Just hammer that bears money line.
Like, uh, points about U. S. A.
Is where I'm pulling my odds from.
So it might be a little different from other places, but plus 1 30 to get the bears money line.
There And now we're gonna flip back to college.
This, uh, shout out to Josh of natty nights.
Anybody mess around on Twitter, he goes live three nights a week.
He's kind of the reason I'm in front of a mic not primarily, but definitely had an influence on it.
So give him a follow.
Great guy says he's not been in college anymore.
So I told him I'd give him some college picks on my stream tonight, but all right, we got I gotta points booster bed off points about U. S. A.
And its Wisconsin to cover 4.
5 point spread verse.
Michigan points about us A.
You can pick that up on the boosted line at plus 1 10.
I think it's a I'm pretty sure it's like a negative 1 10 without the boost on it.
So that's why I got on that one just to get the boosted odds.
Then I got Nebraska burst pen.
Nebraska is the home Penn State. Sorry.
Uh, Nebraska is the home in a downward spiral.
Do you pick up Nebraska plus 1 35? That was a little bit of a risky bet, because Nebraska is not that good, either, but Penn State has been ****ting the bed this year.
So go into Nebraska.
Nebraska could definitely surprised him and Purdue burst Northwestern.
I took Purdue. Ah, money.
It's the sole reason why is when Iowa played Northwestern.
They could have handily won that game if Spencer Patriots would have hit his open receivers.
Producers Iowa are secondary.
So, uh, you know, I don't know what the name of the property is, but do the fact that Purdue carved us up and we carved Northwestern up.
I think Purdue will carve Northwestern up Jeff, when I'm Perdue at the world.
At least for this, uh, my lovely gambling picks this week we have the Let's make some kind of, like, make some money.
It is four college games, all favorites.
These Air team, four teams Just string them together.
You can pick up some hot.
So, first off, I got Iowa verse.
Minnesota taken ill Moneyline like one of the parley.
We talked about it extensively.
I was gonna win that game.
Next up we have Indiana versus Michigan State.
Indiana is on fire, and Michigan State is not good at football.
Just they aren't so.
Take Indiana money line there.
USC vs Arizona USC had a scare last week to knock the rust off and still came away with the wind.
Herm Edwards is a great coach.
Love the guy. He's not gonna beat USC.
Okay, USC on the money line and Wisconsin burst Michigan.
I have to prep myself for this next sentence because it's going to give me great joy to say it out loud.
Full degenerate mode.
Here, folks Smoking if you got him.
Anybody that's in Iowa fan out there will appreciate this. Next sentence.
Wisconsin versus Michigan.
You could take the Wisconsin Moneyline because Michigan is not good at football.
Oh, man, that felt ****ing good, All right.
Like I said, if you're in Iowa fan, you'll get that.
But Michigan is just not good at football this year.
They're looking horrible.
They lost to Michigan State.
They got the Indiana just straight beat the **** out of them last week.
They're not good at football.
Take the Wisconsin Moneyline string those four together, Uh, $10.
Bet you make, like, 33 or something.
It's not a better 100.
Make 3 30 however you want to do it, please responsible gamble responsibly.
We don't want to be, uh, losing your houses unless you wanna be a real degenerate.
Then send me the proof and I'll shut you out.
But those are the picks for the week.
Michigan State's asked last week they're gonna kick Michigan.
Minnesota's asked this week and we're gonna make some money.
So thank you all for showing up.
And we will see you next week.
Same place, same time.
