Yeah, right, Yeah.
Welcome to Quick Takes the show with me.
Look, Backman, as I give you my view on the biggest stories in sports streaming live from Arlington, Texas, I'll be covering baseball, basketball, football and all the most important breaking news from this week's action.
I'll give you the strikes back straight up and tell you what's right or what's wrong.
Without further ado, let's dive into today's topics.
First off, before we start with anything, I'd like to apologize for the later stream.
So I got tied up with something.
I mean, just later.
But we're here now.
We're getting starts. So that's the great sign.
Uh, weather in Texas.
Just a little chilly who have had a warm front but has been actually Well, the weather's been pretty good.
I think it's supposed to hit tomorrow or the next day, but the weather has been pretty good down here in Texas.
Um, this is quick.
So if you're a regular on the show, if you came back, you know how we got.
We rock with this, uh, just around three topics, and we'll cover three again today.
First, we'll start off with NFL Week nine.
We're gonna look at the the results of week nine c game specific games you have.
Divisions were looking, you know, seasons more than halfway done.
So we got a really good kind of clear.
That's a picture of how the league is looking.
We're going to talk about the NFL, not NFL.
Excuse me, MBA draft is, that is, that is next week.
So we'll talk about some prospects and we did this last week.
We might will most likely do it again next week, as that is the week of the NFL.
Goodness gracious MBA draft.
But we'll dive some.
Or I see a couple of rumors about the mellow Paul and you see just the players.
Um, and then finally, college basketball march, not March Madness.
But you know, n c a basketball.
They just released their top 25 standings.
And so we'll dive into that, Uh, you know, different conferences.
What? How they're looking this year.
And really, the Big 10 was really surprised, I believe, taken out there.
I believe that seven teams in the top 25 but we'll talk about all about that that will be to close out the show.
So welcome again if you're just joining and let's dive right in tow.
Okay, so the Thursday night game, Just as I predicted Packers routed the 40 Niners, it was combination of as I predict.
I thought Aaron Rodgers was gonna go off after they lost the previous week.
So I believe the Vikings and Rogers had four touchdowns.
So it was you expected the Packers to bounce back, especially against the 40 Niners team that without Jimmy G without George would just absolutely, absolutely depleted team.
That's what you That's what you expected, right? So that was the Thursday night game.
Not really much as the Packers didn't win.
I'm going on Sunday.
We have the Vikings taking care of the Lions 34 30 20.
Vikings have made sort of a surge lately.
Not too much, but Dalvin cook again Another career day, 200 yards to touch down, as he was really the catalyst.
Uh, Chief Panthers cheese barely squeaked out this one ast The Panthers did miss a long game winning field goal.
The Chiefs did have to come back.
I liked how Teddy Bridgewater play.
If you saw the video of him diving for the first down, I just love.
Teddy Bridgewater doesn't turn it over.
He gets you yards.
He just keeps your offense on the field.
He's a very conservative quarterback, but that's the problem in some aspect, because he doesn't always go down the field when he should kind of space out the defense.
But I like Teddy Bridgewater.
He's played relatively well in the starting position and Carolina, so they were almost able to take down the defending Super Bowl champs.
But we're unable.
Thio and Chiefs win that game, 33 31.
Another game in a F C was the Ravens and Colts I was watching this game.
Reagan's defense was really the dominant factor in this one, right? Uh, Colts did take a look at one point and kind, but you didn't expect it.
It the Colts had 10 points in the first half were shut out in the second half.
Maher was not playing great, Which is scary to see because we talked about this, I believe last time when Lamar, the Ravens lost the Steelers right.
How is he gonna perform a big games? He did not have a Lamar Lamar Jackson performance, correct, and with that, he was able to still find a win win.
And that's what he's gonna have to dio.
He knows what he's getting getting out of his defense.
There's they're really tight in the cornerback positions.
They're really thin there, so they still need some people to come in.
But offensively, they have plenty of weapons, and they need to dominate.
Granted, the Colts defense, it is actually an underrated defense, and it's really Philip Rivers as he has not been the answer.
And Indianapolis, I didn't like they're signing of Philip Rivers.
I talked about this earlier in the year when my Jets played the Colts an Empire Sports talk stream.
But just signing the signing of Philip Rivers was puzzling because the Colts going into this year, we're not going to make a run at the Super Bowl, not igniting the A F C and then especially with adding Philip Rivers there, one of those teams in the middle who they're too good to tank.
But I mean, yeah, they're too good to tank, but too bad toe, actually contend.
So, um, it was interesting to see him take on Philip Rivers for a year.
I believe that experience experiment Excuse me, is really gonna end up this really this year.
I don't think Philip Purpose will be back.
And even if I don't think he'll be back and even if he is, I don't even expect him.
I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even finish out the season if they let Jacoby percent because percent played actually well, last year, he was an All Pro Bowl alternate.
They didn't do anything to lose his job.
I think they just thought Philip Rivers was better, But I don't believe that's been the case.
Obviously, we haven't seen Jacoby percent, but I like Jacoby process, so I wouldn't be surprised if he takes it out.
Takes the job over at the end of the season, right? Bills beat the Seahawks 30 44 34.
Josh Allen played well on Well, is an understatement.
He absolutely, absolutely bald out.
Just I talked about this last time with the Seattle.
They need to figure out their defense.
Their defense has been historically bad, and I said okay.
Just wait till they get Jamal Adams back.
Jamal Adams was in this game for Buffalo.
Buffalo puts up 44.
This was the Buffalo we have been seeing through the first four weeks and we were all excited for.
I'd say not all of us, but we're excited to see Josh Allen put in this M V P type form, right? But Russell Wilson's kind of slid back in the M v P right because I want to say all the way back.
But he has had five interceptions in the last three games.
I expect for us really to come back from this and play better, but he knows what he has to do in this defense.
Just has to get better, because if you scored 34 points in an NFL game, you should look to win this game, win a game, so we'll look to see how the Seahawks bounce back.
I I'm not panicking from this game as it really was.
Joshua Allen just having a really career day performance.
Titans beat the Bears really sloppy game.
Beat him by a touchdown, 24 17.
Good for the spirits of China's steps to come back.
They lost two straight after starting at 50 So just a win.
Really sloppy game.
But they want Okay, uh, Falcons win 34 27.
Falcons almost eat them just fine.
But the Falcons almost giving away the Broncos were coming back, and, uh, the Falcons were able to get a fumble on last play.
Yeah, the Falcons rebel go get a fumble, forced a fumble on the last play and secure.
When I was scared for you, Ethan, I thought I thought you guys were gonna choke another one.
I was gonna have to come on here until say, Well, it's happened again.
Luckily, Falcons came out with a win that is three wins in their last four games after firing Dan Quinn, so it's really looked good for them.
A trend Word up, um, trending upwards.
Obviously, nothing will happen much this season, but just morality in the team has been amazing.
I mean, just it's gotten better.
Julio Jones had a great move on one of defenders for a touchdown.
That was, that was a really dumb and Julio has been underrated this season as it's just the story of Atlanta's been dumb choking.
But Julio is Ben, Julio, Calvin Ridley is emerging and the land of team next season really a team.
People are gonna have to look at moving on.
We got the Texans and Jaguars.
Texans won that game, 27 25.
The Jags didn't miss a game tying two point conversion.
Both teams aren't doing much this year, especially E believe.
Yeah, they're in the same division.
Yeah, division game didn't really matter much.
Well, it's sad for me is I was really I'm going to Shawn Watson fan.
But I was rooting for the jack wires because I want the job requires to get two wins on the season.
So they're not in contention with the number one pick is.
The Jets are alright.
Talking about the NFC least here now Giant squeak out a win 23 to 20 against the Washington football team.
The football team loses Kyle Allen, and they fell short to double losses and then Logan Ryan Co two clutch interception at the end of the game.
If you want one play to describe the, uh, what round pick would you give for J.
Watt, I'd say a second round in a player because J.
Watt has been, uh, is get growing older along with one.
I don't think they will, because J.
Watt was one of the reasons why they fired Bill O'Brien because he actually got an argument with Bill O Brien.
So I believe JJ Watt.
But I'd give up a second because he's still aging and his constant injury history.
It is cause for concern.
So I'd give up second or third.
It may be a player, but not much for JJ.
Um uh, Raiders, Chargers, Chargers.
They are the Falcons of the A F C.
And so they just find ways to lose.
Um, if you saw their game winning touchdown was overturned, as they just know, Herbert thought he had led them to another win, uh, but obviously was overturned by the officials and the Chargers follow again.
Surprising five and three.
They have beat Kansas City this year.
I believe that's who they playing that skip.
They play Kansas City next, so we'll have to see how the Raiders really are looking.
If they are a potential playoff team, I would imagine they're going for a wild card but still Raiders than Derek Carr have been playing pretty well. Decision.
And it's been a surprise, I'd say here a game of the week.
I was skeptical.
Why? Wasn't skeptical of two? Uh, I just said he's gonna have to do more than 93 yards and he absolutely did it.
He takes down Kyler Murray in Phoenix, Arizona, against the Cardinals shootout.
Dolphins improved to five and three.
They're in competition in the division.
If the Bills going a little skin like they did these last.
What was it? Four games.
Obviously, if they play like they did against Seattle, the Bills, then it's gonna be there.
Division wrap up.
That will be done soon, but the Dolphins air improving every week.
Bryan Flores, Great young coach.
People want to play for okay.
Eso who will played well.
Uh, they missed a game time field goal and two, he made throws.
He ran the ball.
He looked completely healthy and it was great to see.
I want to see more from two in the Dolphins, as I still don't think this is their year.
Do I think two is a franchise quarterback? Um, I think so.
I won't lie. I'm a to a fan.
His his his hit concerns me because I've talked about this before.
But that is the same injury that ended Bo Jackson's career.
The baseball football player, the absolute stud.
Bo Jackson, right? So I do think they could build around to it, especially with the league becoming more mobile.
He showed his arm strength in this game against Arizona, I think to it can become a franchise quarterback.
I get scared at the height, but high.
It has been shown at the Q B position.
That's kind of an overrated metric, the metric but over things like thing to worry about, right? So, But yes, I do believe to.
It could actually become a franchise quarterback if the Dolphins built around him like they should.
Um, surprising game of the week.
Steelers Onley beat the Cowboys by five as the Cowboys had a chance toe with the game at the end, right? Um, Garrett Gilbert had 243 yards, a touchdown and interception.
He did have a very unfortunate turn over in the red zone that might have caused the Cowboys actually the game.
But you wonder the way he played, he played.
Forget the interception, obviously, is there.
But other than the interception, he played almost a perfect game for them to win, right? And you wondered, How did they decide on Ben DeNucci is their quarterback When they had Garrett Gilbert all the way, Uh, just he totally outperformed what backup would do.
And maybe it was the Steelers.
They didn't have film on them.
They weren't really sure what they were dealing with.
But Gilbert been around since, I believe 2014.
It was 1/6 round pick, and I knew she was 1/7 round pick last year.
I don't know why they went with DeNucci, especially after he performed Philadelphia.
So I believe Gillard should remain the starter for the Cowboys.
Uh, Saints absolutely torched the Buccaneers.
Uh, this is what was This might have been one of the worst games Tom Brady's ever played.
Okay, it scares me because it came against the saints.
Um, I don't want to rush to too much into it, but they're gonna need to feed Mike Evans.
The Baltimore right, Mike Evans is, he's like three other receivers have more targets than him.
And they just added Antonio Brown, Chris Godwin is gonna come back healthy.
They got to get my, uh, my name is the ball more and that's just offensively.
The Bucks secondary did not show up.
Drew Brees has not been impressive all season.
The way he's been throwing the ball was looking like a high school quarterback not getting it down the field.
I believe he was like second toe last, and like how far his ball was traveling when he threw the ball yard wide.
But Todd Bulls and that defense? Obviously, Todd Bowles, the defense coordinator for parts this year, they have not shown up.
And not just a secondary, but the whole defense in general.
Eso as much as I wanna put Ah, lot of the blame is on Tom Brady and just how awful he performed.
You do have to put some of the blame on the defense of the Buccaneers, right? So mhm.
I don't believe it's too much to add to look at into this game.
Obviously, it might just be one game, Tom Brady had an off game, but it's cause for concern, potentially, as the Buccaneers need to actually get rolling.
They've had, you know, a game here where they looked really good and a real sloppy game.
You know, two games, they look really good and you're like, OK, this is the team that's gonna potentially make the Super Bowl and then they have another game.
It's like, Oh, no.
So they're gonna need to get on a roll, especially heading into the playoffs soon.
Just find that team chemistry.
And then last night, Monday Night Football game.
If I'm a Jets fan and this one was a heartbreaker, Cam Newton leads them to 1/4 quarter comeback.
The Jets, I believe they only ran 15 plays in the second half after 11 years.
11 play touchdown drive to start the half, Um, way will die of deep in the Yeah, dug deep into this game on Thursday, but to say I was disappointed and just like the lap, I don't know if it was trying to tank or just are like you isn't there? Um, I don't know, but we'll dive dive deeper into that on Monday.
I mean Thursday.
Excuse me? Sad May, but as the judge fan, kind of happy because it still keeps us in the running for Trevor Lawrence.
Okay, moving on next topic.
I said, you know, we'll go.
MBA Draft review Actually then often a shout with college basketball.
Okay, So rumblings have been that the melon ball might be taken first.
Also, the warriors air looking to trade up.
Excuse me? I don't see either one of these teams actually taking Lemelle a ball.
And we talked a little about Lamela ball last week.
My draft preview.
Um I see him falling to seven and eight because of the way teams are situated in this point guard situation.
I see Charlotte, though with Devante Graham and Terry Rozier.
They couldn't move on from both of them and draft a potential franchise player in the mellow for um, But I don't see it.
Especially after they gave that awful, huge contract to terrorize here.
I think Lemelle oh is overrated.
Um, I'm a big fan off.
I'm a big fan of the ball brothers, actually.
So I was a huge fan of Lonzo.
I loved his game at U C L A.
I thought Lonzo should have been the number one pick, right? E could.
I mean, Marquel Folds hasn't really done much in the MBA, so it could have been better than you know, but that's just Jayson Tatum actually should have been the first pick in that draft.
But watching the mellow he has range, we all know that he has great range, but he has to shoot a more consistent clip from the three point line.
He's shooting low thirties.
He shoots a lot of three, so he needs Thio one.
And I've never been one to say.
Always form is awful.
If you get your shot up, you get your shot up.
It's whether you can hit it or not, right? It really becomes a problem, form wise.
If it's slow and you get your shot blocked on threes, right? I believe that that will happen with the mellow, obviously, that you love for it to be more fundamental, but it is what it is, and you saw that was Alonso and lands was not a great a great point because he's had to change his shooting motion as you should have not been shooting well in the NBA, but I think the mellow is over it. I don't think so.
What's Lamela's 6768 point guard really underrated? Um, is his passing ability.
His vision is extremely good.
I want to say on par with Lonzo, because Lonzo has If you watch a Republicans game now, Honda's court vision is really good.
Especially now with Zion Williamson.
That pair is gonna, uh, that duo is gonna pair up for multiple full court alley oop dunks was saying that Lemelle oh has that type of court vision.
Um, so I don't think he's overrated.
He will have to commit more on defense, but as a player, I don't think he's operated.
I don't, however, think he should be taken top three in the draft, not just because of the order of the teams.
Just I don't think he potentially is one of the top three players in this draft class.
Um, I like Anthony.
I like James Wiseman.
I have my concerns about Anthony.
What Edwards, though, is shooting.
He has to become a better shooter, and that's just flat out simple.
Um, James Wiseman also do it.
73 It's James Wiseman can step back from the three point line, knock him down, and that's why I believe he the Warriors should just chill it.
And take James Wiseman because James Wiseman came out the other day.
I was like, I don't really want to go to Minnesota because they already have Cat.
And so I don't see Minnesota taking him right? So this is my opinion on that.
Another move that we could look at that potential trades is Drew. Holiday.
He I loved Holiday.
He is one of those players on the verge of becoming like an All Pro type player, and his story is awesome.
Um, and he would be, in my opinion, a great pickup for on a Lakers team.
Right? Drew Holiday is an upgraded Rondo, and as well as Rondo played in the playoffs, right, You look at him through his two seasons in L. A.
And he was not the most productive player, especially in the regular season.
Rondo came through, though, but the regular season drew holiday blocks down on defense is in all defensive player Um, right he can get you buckets the NBA draft is November 18th.
So he gets to buckets everything.
I just love how he plays, and I believe he's looking at content contender.
This is why I'm skeptical about the Timberwolves keeping their pick and staying at number one to draft Anthony Edwards.
Is you traded for D'Angelo Russell last year, right? The end of last year, and him and Cat paired off.
They're like best friends.
They're good players, right? I see Anthony Edwards as a bigger types.
Russell Westbrook in meaning, the way he plays the game.
He has a great motor, right? Um, but he's gonna be ball dominant because you can't play.
Anthony Edwards is a shooting guard, especially his rookie season, because he's not that he's not a quick, you know, round screens.
He's gonna have the ball.
He's gonna bully you into the paint and potentially will dunk on you, right? That's how Anthony Edwards is, and that's why I say he's a bigger Westbrook.
Because Westbrook, you will need a fast break to go down and, you know, dunk on someone.
If Anthony Edwards has a smaller guard here, just post him up, you know, job step, get to the rim.
And so I think his development would be awful if the Timberwolves drafted him.
And, you know, said, Okay, you're the two guard here.
D'Angelo Russell is one, you know, bringing the ball up.
Uh, you're gonna have Edwards standing on the wing most of the time looking to come off for shots.
I don't believe that's great development, So I don't think I wouldn't like him in the Timberwolves offense.
Especially with they're gonna run a lot of pick and roll with Cat and D'Angelo. Russell.
Just a lot of standing for Anthony Edwards when he needs to get actually in action with the ball eso We'll have to see where he lands.
That's why a lot of these point guards in this draft I'm scared to see where they lay on because that development buys.
Um, if you look at the draft lottery, a lot of these teams Detroit and the Knicks, seven and eight are the two teams that really are the only ones that don't have solid point guard play Chicago.
They drafted Kobe White, but I did see they're a lovely Melo ball, right Charlotte.
We talked about Rosie on the, uh, Cavaliers they got If they think ***ton is ah, future.
You know, point guard people were saying, uh, I saw MBA executives were saying ***ton is a glorified bench player role player for the Cavaliers.
Eso it really is depending how they see their point guards.
But a lot of these point guards like Carmelo Anthony Edwards, I think it would be it would stunt their development really in the league by just standing on the wing and having other guys with playmakers and guards.
Which is unusual for me to say, because I like rookies to take their time learning.
But I just especially this here with these guys.
I think they need to get get going fast, get the ball in their hand and see how the MBA is, right? Uh, no, no notice.
No noticeable thing is the Celtics have three picks in the first round team that really made the Eastern Conference finals.
We're looking to take the next step.
What do I think that they'll include one of these picks in a trade with Gordon Hayward? I don't believe so because the Celtics aren't a top pick in the draft away from the N B.
Finals. You know they're a Miami Miami Heat.
They got to beat the Heat, right? That's the big dog coming out the East and they got to get over the hump.
I don't think they need a James Wiseman.
He would be nice because they don't have the greatest center play with Aaron Baynes.
But I don't think they need to trade.
You know Gordon Hayward and a first round pick to become, you know, higher pick in the draft.
So I do think they will move Gordon Hayward because just watching him it doesn't look good in Boston.
I thought it might have been Kyra's fault, but the injury has really slowed down Gordon Hayward.
And it's just not especially with the emergence of Jayson Tatum.
Jalen Brown, is it? The ball isn't getting past toe Gordon Hayward that much anymore, and he's just not having the same profit efficiency.
Excuse May as he didn't Utah.
So I do believe they'll move him, but not not around the draft.
I don't think for a draft pick, right, You know, these are kids coming from college, so this is a great Segway and here we go out Basketball.
College basketball is officially looking upon us.
The AP Top 25 poll came out yesterday.
Um, let's talk about top five.
We got Gonzaga, Baylor, Villanova, Virginia and Iowa, right? I was talking toe anything about this.
Gonzaga irritates me.
Um, they play in a non power five conference and they always have the number 1/5 and number one draft, not draft.
Excuse me. Number one ranking.
Granted, their teams are usually good, right? Gonzaga.
But no one ever says, Okay, I think I'm gonna stay up to watch Gonzaga play tonight, so you never know how how great they are.
And it's irritating because they don't play the greatest schedule.
They play like they played Duke with Zion, um two years ago and Maui.
That was like their big nonconference game.
But with this season, a lot of conferences, they're just going conference games only, like the A C C.
Just conference games.
I know a couple nonconference made a lot of conferences were going just on Lee conference games.
You know you are not going to see these test against Gonzaga is just going to see how their conference lines up against them.
And I believe the only competition really ST Mary's against Gonzaga.
So I don't believe we'll have a great read on Gonzaga until, like, tournament time, which I don't like because they are in sag adjust.
They irritate me.
I just got to say that I believe in it that will get more in tow, just how they play.
But they have a couple of kids, Um, bias here.
There's this one center drew to me.
He actually went.
He played at Dr Nation here.
What is it down in Arlington, Dallas for what? You know right around where I live.
So he played well.
Last season is a good center.
That's what they get. Big men.
And it's, um, solid point guard play Mark Few does out of his players, so we'll see Baylor with the number two spot.
Baehler retained a couple of great player good players from their uh, team last year.
Their team last year held the number one spot more than for Mork incitement for more weeks than any other team in college basketball did, and they were able to keep a lot of players so that has been.
That's great for them, especially with they're looking as they could be.
And Kansas is really rain in the Big 12 they did last year.
Um, but especially don't.
Lawrence, there won't be Lawrence, Kansas.
There won't be too many fan distractions that Kansas has one of the best student sections.
One of best crowds, you know, uh, Allen Fieldhouse.
If you watch a game there, it's packed.
It's always amazing.
But with lack of fans there, that's not that doesn't pose a big threat as because off a threat as it usually does.
So you looked at Baylor really to take over the Big 12 if they can continue staying consistent as they were last year.
Villanova? Um, Big East team.
Well, I'll have to see what J right does with this team.
Believe that a kid opt out.
Uh, I'm not to Seoul on Virginia, especially the last couple of years.
They've kind of proven me wrong.
Had them higher than they should have been.
So we'll have to see, but we'll see how they match up with three, especially in the Big East Conference.
Not too many, not too much competition there.
There's competition, but not like a power five school conference.
Right? This next one confuses me a lot.
Virginia and number four.
Um, Well, Virginia has been a powerhouse over the last couple of years.
Won the national championship a couple of years.
They have lost a lot of key players.
They lost on Thai. Jerome.
Um Oh, my goodness.
What's his name? Oh, so I'm totally blanking his name, but he was on the national championship teams.
Well, they lost a lot of kids from there.
And you're saying, Okay, that's two years ago.
Well, they have not done much and recruiting since then.
They do have a great a good player coming in this year.
What is the top 40 player coming in this year to play with them? Uh, five star four star five star.
But they had a point guard last year.
Oh, did not shoot the ball.
And granted, their defense is always amazing.
I just don't know how offensive offensively, they're going to continue to keep up.
They kind of got exposed last year.
They were not as great as they've been in the show.
They didn't have a fence to keep up with the constant offenses college basketball's bringing nowadays.
So seeing that before, I believe that's a little too high just because they didn't play well last year and they didn't bring too many prominent recruits in to make a difference this year.
Okay, running out the top five. We got Iowa.
You got center uh, Luke Garza.
Excuse me, Luke Garza.
Luka Garza, who was actually in the player of the year candidate.
He was really good last year.
Um, Syracuse played What's his name? Uh, Garza and I will.
Last year, especially in the 23 zone.
Garza carved us up, and so he's a serious contender.
He's legit, right? So we have to see if he can lead the Big 10 to the excuse me leading Iowa to a Big 10 title.
Still competition there.
I like Tom Izzo at Michigan State.
He just got actually diagnosed with Coke. 19.
So wishing him speedy recovery from this season, Um, but I always like Michigan State, and the Big 10 is packed that I told you at the beginning there seven Big 10 teams in the top 25 maybe a little too much, but We'll have to say they lost a lot of players to the draft.
The just the Big 10 is the overall conference to last year, actually, so we'll have to see.
I think it's quick to say I always the top dog in that conference just because Luka Garza.
But they definitely are gonna make not only a run for the championship in the Big 10 put a run into just overall the tournament, quickly going through these other power five conferences.
The story isn't really even tournament teams.
Things is a team barred from the tournament this year.
Um, and that's Oklahoma State.
They have the number one player in the country, Kate Cunningham, who was actually from my hometown.
He's top rated freshman, the country who actually decided to stay at Oklahoma State even when they were banned from the post season this year.
Because we're recruiting violations under their previous head coach.
Unfortunate that he that they were banned and we won't see, uh, Kate went toe.
Hey, went to Mom Verde.
Uh oh, my goodness.
I'm gonna look, he actually went toe, I believe.
Ethan, I think you went to buoy before he transferred toe.
He went somewhere his freshman and sop****re year here in Arlington.
And then he traded, transferred Thio.
Yeah, he went to buoy, just looked it up, went to buoy his freshman sop****re year and then went toe powerhouse Montford.
So his brother was hired as an assistant Kate's brother.
And so that's why I'd say he stay there.
But other than that, it will be just I'll definitely watch Oklahoma State games.
Just see how he is.
An Oklahoma state has a really, actually good team.
They have another kid from Mansfield who went to Timber.
You, Ethan Isaac Likely.
And they're actually a solid team, and it's a shame that they're not going to see postseason action this year.
We've gone toe the SEC.
Kentucky, uh, one of their top players. Top of cruises.
Forward BJ Boston top freshmen for Kentucky.
Kentucky is actually ranked 10th this year.
I watched PJ Boston played twice in his high school career.
One when they came down, he played a Sierra Canyon with LeBron suns.
Brawny um, they came down and they played a local school, Duncanville and they barely be Duncanville.
Duncanville is a top school in Texas for basketball, right? But they brought that they've won and I watched him also in a you and the circuit when it came down for the Nike Circuit.
Uh, I really like BJ Boston's game.
He's just smooth.
He's He shows Katie abilities.
He has a great shot.
He's skinny and land.
He's tall and lanky, like Katie.
So that's why I give that comparison.
But he really is, uh, Impact player player from day one, and he knows that he is there.
He is the confidence of being one, and I see him being a one and done player like Ah, Katie and really pushing Kentucky Thio Get back to the top of the SEC is they? They've had a couple of years where they have not been.
Top dog is Auburn's Rose, and our Auburn's really good.
I like Auburn his well, munition of college, um, depend.
I don't know how much power if he's put on many pounds e Kentucky right now, um, so I think I think in some games it will play more of a factor than others because he will be a vocal point on their offense.
BJ Boston So if I was a coach, I throw a bigger man on, um, a stronger man to kind of just knock him around on screens and everything will handle the ball.
Some get up into him on ball pressure.
Other times, I think teams might just not do that.
So I think his weight will be an issue in some some games.
Um, if it's comfortable for him playing at, then I think he'll be good.
But it's Sheriff Cooper.
So we played a you with point guard goes toe Auburn.
I love Sheriff Cooper, right? And I saw a Sheriff Cooper's put on £20 of muscle since he got on since he got on the organs campus.
So if B J Boston at Kentucky puts on any amount of weight and muscle, then I think he'll be fine.
But yeah, in some games, I think his weight might be an issue because in high school he is just so much he was so much more skilled than any any anybody else, so it didn't cause much of a difference.
But in college, the game kind of slows down.
I'm kind of speeds up, actually.
So we will have to see how his weight makes.
But more get some game is more than others.
I think it will play a factor, but not for like the overall season.
Right? Um a C c.
This is the, uh, probably my pain.
I'm biased here because I'm a Syracuse fan.
Best conference in the league.
You always got your dukes here in North Carolina.
Carolina will make a return this year.
They were not very good last year.
Anthony did depart one and done, which we expected and granted Coal.
Anthony did get injured for a good portion of season, but even with him, they weren't very good, right? So But they have Caleb Love coming in.
He's a great shooting guard.
They have a five star center Walker Kessler coming in.
Carolina is looking good that you look at it usually don't get five stars.
And, like, one and done type players in Carolina.
You see these? Joel buries these Marcus pages, right? These Luke Maze.
I just really go through their four years of Carolina, but they have some high impact high.
You know, immediate players here in Chapel Hill and they could make a real run.
Uh, securing the A C C.
I talked about Virginia.
They don't have much.
They do have that one recruit.
They also have the market transfer.
I really have to see because he sat out last year, So I am compared to the rest of the UCC.
I have to let me let me look.
Miami Dade, then not they've had.
Chris likes of their point guard the last couple of years, right? And he's not been the basis a short point guard.
Not been the absolute greatest.
I just It's not just how bad.
It's not like, Oh, Miami's bad, right? It's just the A C C is really good, so I'm not sure how to look at Miami.
I think they might end up like Syracuse.
Syracuse is middle of the Pack A C C.
And I think that might be where Miami is as well.
I mean, with a 57 point guard is greatest.
Chris likes is, and if you watch it, he's in.
He's an exciting player. You knock down threes.
He'll he'll take over games.
But it's hard to play with this 57 point guard.
So we'll have to see.
I'm not sure too much on the recruits they brought in if they brought in any, But I believe the middle of the pack lower a C C team.
I'm so glad to see um, just going back to last year and this is a non power five team.
I'd like to see how Dayton Dayton plays this year without Obi Topping.
If I were to make a pick from last year, I think I might have said Dayton was gonna win the tournament.
I loved how date was playing.
I watched a couple of their games.
Overtopping is one of my favorite players.
That's why I think that Timberwolf should take with the number one pick because that would feel he's a great player and it feels a great role with Wigand's leaving.
So you gotta Wing player.
Um, I would love to watch date play in the tournament last year and they might have been by pick.
So see how they bounce back.
They lost some key players.
Policy of the fliers make an impact like they did last year and obviously season still coming up, so we'll get more into the riel.
Think of it back to the draft.
What position are they have to play? Okay.
Hampton, Another player coming right around my area. Little home, Texas.
Uh, actually, in fact, I went to his last high school game where a little lost timber view.
Where will he play? Um, he plays point guard.
That's what he's listed as right? He has.
He's 6667 Lanky, tall, lanky.
Um, problem is, I don't think he'll play point guard, and I don't want to say shooting guard because he has toe work on his shot.
He really has to work on his shop.
And that's coming from an RJ Hampton fan.
This shot is not consistent.
Kind of has a hitching it a little bit, so I'm not sure.
I would say they would try at point guard, but I don't know how well he'll play point guard, because again, he's small.
He could get bumped around on screens.
Um, so we'll have to see.
It depends on where he does.
Like I know the Nets were really interested in RJ Hampson, but where do you You're gonna put RJ Hampton in the corner if he goes, you know, to Brooklyn with Kyrie, right? You're not saying okay, Rookie, take this off a Chirico, the wing.
So it really depends on where which team goes thio overseas, help or hurt him? Yeah.
Yeah, I think it helps him and coverage, because if you look at it, you looked at RJ Hampton and Lemelle a ball, right? You saw which one they were playing each other in Austria.
And what was Australia? New Zealand? Um yeah.
In New Zealand, at least in New Zealand breakers was RJ's team.
So you from exposure? You were looking like Oh, okay.
His name was always with Lamela's balls because they were both, you know, playing overseas production wise.
He did not play well as well as I imagine.
The yoke for his coach didn't play him great minutes.
He didn't get very You got sparring minutes, especially at the start of the season.
Obviously, injuries happened.
I don't know if he doesn't, you know, doesn't get injured in college, but I'd say if he picked a year to go overseas.
It was especially last year just because there was no March Madness.
So that big exposure was not there for R. J. Hampton.
I think he was saying You'd either going to Tech or Memphis.
I'd love to see him in Memphis, especially with Penny Hardaway as a coach.
He works out with Penny Hardaway now for the draft.
Precious Precious is true.
True? Uh, so I think exposure wise, it helped but play wise, it might have hurt him.
But again, going ritual Memphis with all these studs, it might also hurt him.
So, really, it's always a would if but overseas.
I don't think was the worst decision, but it wasn't the best if that sort of makes sense.
And on that note, that's all the time I have for tonight's stream.
