matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the Indianapolis Colts.
Of course, in Indy now, both teams well, actually, the Ravens air coming off a loss against the Steelers.
You know, everybody's still feeling it, I think.
But hopefully you're able to start getting over it by now.
I've feel a lot better of, you know, after what happened.
But on then, of course, Laurence and his Colts are coming off a big win against the Detroit Lions.
Well, maybe not a big one, but a win nonetheless.
So they're feeling good about themselves.
Eso I want to talk about this matchup, Lawrence.
This is the reason that I brought you on because I think this is going to be very exciting.
I've been talking about it pretty much all week on my channel that I feel like a lot of Ravens fans.
A lot of especially like the national media, they're kind of e don't want to say overlooking the Colts, but they're definitely not taking them for as good of a team as I personally think they are, and especially right now that pretty much our entire defense is on the Covad list.
We got hit with the co vid.
We already know for sure.
Marlon Humphrey are best defensive player is not playing on Sunday, no matter what.
So that's gonna hurt.
Um, so I feel like right now, we don't particularly match up well against your colts, and I am, You know, I'm a little bit afraid I can't lie to you.
I am kind of concerned about this game.
Now, I do see some scenarios that we can still come out there and win this game.
But before we get into that, before we get into the breakdowns here, Lawrence, why don't you just let me know your general overall consensus How you're feeling about this game going into Sunday? Well, first off what? That whole covert situation you got like, half your starting defense.
Not not practicing this week, Right? Right.
That's gonna hurt UAL.
Ah, lot worse than just not having Marlon Humphrey on the on the field because they're not practicing.
They're not out there doing these drills.
There were a team that they can't take lightly, so that that is a big issue coming into this now, then being on the field, that's still, you know, obviously big time help, but it's better to have him on the field than than not have them on the field, whether they practiced or not.
Um, India's got the same very similar situation going on now.
They didn't have a player or coach, but they had a staff member come down with Cove in, uh, and he is no longer part.
And they're they're doing the tracking thing right now, uh, to see if any players or coaches was within, you know, that whole 6 ft of him within that time frame.
So a little bit of worry on that they just did a walk through tonight rather than an actual practice.
Yeah, it seems like the cove it is really starting to hit a lot of teams, man.
And it's it sucks because it feels like just this overwhelming wave of death that's approaching every single team, and we can't stop it.
Uh, yeah, but obviously, you know, crappy situation that most of our defense can't practice all week.
That really hurts.
You know, you gotta hope that they're sticking their heads in the tape and really studying, and hopefully that makes a difference.
I mean, we saw what happened to the Titans when they didn't get to practice, but they still came out and blew out the Bills.
So, you know, it's not the be all end, all type of thing, but I am concerned about, you know? I mean, it's pretty much our entire starting defense, which is a problem.
It's an absolute issue.
We're already dealing with issues with injuries at the cornerback position, and I am concerned because you guys have guys like T y Hilton who I understand, isn't having the best season, but still a threat.
And Michael Pittman, right? He's supposed to be coming back, So okay, there you go.
So he's already there.
Eso my concern is that I don't feel like right now we have an answer for five wide.
That was really hurting us a lot against the Steelers at the end of the game.
That's Big Ben started, just, you know, he was standing back there solo, and then they had him spread out five wide and kill this because we're dealing with cornerback injuries, so that's a concern of mine.
If the Colts come out in five wide, I just don't think we have the horses to be ableto you know, uh, contain it.
So are you expecting for maybe the colts to run stuff like that? Or do you think that they won't really, uh, do that type of stuff? Okay, let me before I answer that this is a your Ravens.
I'm a colts guy.
Do you normally have chief jumping your chat? They're always gonna be there.
They're like ****roaches, bro.
They're just everywhere.
Like, you know, anytime you see a Ravens fan, or I mean, I don't know if you got if your fan base gets it as much, but yeah, chiefs are always chief sends are always in Ravens pages on Lamar Jackson pages because they love talking ****. We'll tell.
Well, tell this Danny stab guy that if he goes back to last year, last time the colts play them, they put a whooping on the cheese, so just shut up and leave.
Uh, that was with Yeah, that was our people.
And told them the 13 whole stinking points.
All Patrick Mahomes.
All right, but anyhow, anyhow, no, I don't expect the colts to ever go five wide.
Okay? Don't ever the courts have too much talent at tied in to go five wide.
Okay, that's that's my That's my thing between Jack Doyle and Trey Burton and the emergence of Mo Alley Cox, who is still, I mean, Mohali Cox is getting something like 20 yards a reception so far this year.
All right, that's that's something that you were looking at with with Andrew's last year s.
Oh, and you're not getting it right now.
But you waas last season.
Um, no, I don't ever expect that to actually happen.
Five wide situations.
We, if it ever does, you'll see running backs at the wide receiver like Nadeem Heinz.
But But then again, he minds, he's a matchup nightmare as well.
Um, but no, I I fully expect to see a lot of 22 personnel, uh, maybe 13 person, maybe a lot of 13 personnel, because your your, uh, front seven of your defense, you blitz a lot and you've got some really good not necessarily awesome, great top end players, in my opinion, on your front seven, but very good players who play inside their scheme and play exactly what Jim are.
Yeah, I'm sorry.
E knew I made the mistake as soon as I said it.
But I'm just, you know, um, but they play right into the way he likes to play, and that's very aggressive.
And and they play their heart out each and every down.
So that that's something I think the Colts are gonna worry a little bit about.
And I think that they'll come out there with a lot of two and three tight end sets.
Oh, my other question is that since we are the most blitz happy team in the league on, do you guys obviously have a great offensive line? Is it still playing to the same level as it was last season? Or have you seen a little bit about a regression, or is there injuries on your offensive line or what's going on there? Okay, so I believe that the Colts offensive line is still playing at that level.
We had one injury Ah, few weeks back against the Browns, and this is why I think the Browns won this game because our starting left tackle went out and our backup left tackle is God awful.
Okay? I mean, awful law.
Raven Clark shouldn't even be in the NFL.
He should He should be playing in the CFL.
But, uh, they put him out there on an island with Myles Garrett.
You guys wouldn't even put your left tackle out there on an island with Myles Garrett.
I mean, come on.
So, you know, that was that was a bad coaching situation.
And that's why the Browns ended up winning.
But, um, no, the running game has its issues right now because Jonathan Taylor is the north and South runner and he does not move, uh, East and West very much.
He likes to run straight up the gut.
So you're gonna see a lot of Mahin Heinz and Jordan Wilkins, I believe, who are good at moving East and West and using that zone blocking scheme and being patient with it, hitting the holes as they open up rather than what you saw what you've been seeing with Jonathan Taylor this year.
Now the Colts are the least sack team in the NFL.
I think, uh, he's got, like, six sacks.
The Philip Rivers has been sacked this year, so yeah, if you guys get pressure on rivers and frustrate him.
That is one of the best ways to beat the Colts, but it's a lot tougher than doing it.
Yeah, and that's one of my concerns is that our pass rush has been inconsistent.
You know, were hoping for it to be a lot better, especially with the addition of Bangkok way as we talked about that one, that one episode.
But yeah, it's gonna be rough against this better offensive line if if we can't get pressure, especially since the coverage is probably not gonna be a good as it usually is without Marlon Humphrey and all those injuries that we're dealing with, Um, it's concerning it is concerning.
But let me let me offer you this scenario, Lawrence and you tell me if I'm absolutely crazy a scenario in which the Ravens can win this game and I say can win this game because, like I said, I'm not feeling too confident right now.
I am a little bit concerned about this game.
I cannot lie to you guys, but I can also totally see a way that we come out winning for 11 of the factors that I wanted to bring up is that Lamar Jackson is actually a better quarterback on the road than he is at home, you know, believe it or not, he's only lost two road games in his entire career, both of which have been an arrowhead.
So that's been his Onley two losses.
So every single road game he plays, he usually wins.
So I'm not counting out the fact that he could have a bounce back game, have an M V P type performance like we saw last year.
However, you know if he comes out and plays like he was last week against the Steelers, where he's just not seeing linebackers underneath, you know, throwing picks, giving the ball away, it's gonna be a problem.
But if we get the type of Lamar that we were used to last season, you know that just plays.
His game is focused running the ball when he needs to and, you know, taking what the defense gives him.
I could see us having a good day offensively.
Also, I know you guys have an amazing run defense, right? That's something that the Colts fans have been really laying there. Staking, I've noticed.
Is there run defense, but We've went up against the Steelers last week who? We're the best run defense.
Before they faced us, they were only allowing, I believe, 68 yards per game on the ground, and we put up over 200 yards on them.
So I believe that we are able to run on pretty much any team.
And that will include your Colts.
Lawrence, I think that we should be able to have a good day.
What do you want to put in? Over? Under bed on that? How many rushing yards do you think we'll get you? Let me know.
E don't think I don't think I don't think J.
Dobbins is going to get 100 yards rushing a za team.
I don't think your team will get over 100 and 40.
Uh, you know what? You know what? I think that's fair, because, honestly, the Ravens are a good run team, the best run team in the NFL.
I am not delusional in the thinking that the Colts is gonna walk out there and be like you ain't getting even 50 yards on us as a team.
I mean, come on, man.
You got to really good running backs right now because I'm not even throwing Ingram in there.
Uh, but and then, of course, Lamar Jackson.
Lamar Jackson is almost guaranteed minimum 40 yards rushing minimum, and that's and that's if he just breaks out, you know, five or six runs, but I do feel that the Colts, the way they're run defense, is different than the Steelers.
We were talking about this a little bit earlier.
They run Mawr of they get pressure and penetration with their front four and let their linebackers sit back and watch what happens and then go after whatever you know needs to be there rather than run blitz so much the way the Steelers do the the Steelers run a lot of run blitzes, and that's and if you can catch them behind that blitz, which what the Ravens did Ah, lot last week, then you're gonna you're gonna bust out some big runs here and there, the culture arm or of a play it safe type defense, and they execute that probably better than any team in the NFL right now.
Yeah, but I still I still think I still think you.
You guys probably run about 1 40.
Maybe you know the team.
I'll take the over on that.
I'll tell you that right now, but we'll see.
So that's the matchup I'm looking at.
The thing that I am concerned about your guy's defense is that I feel like your secondary is severely underrated.
Not enough people talk about your secondary, and I think a lot of it is because nobody really knows the players on the Colts.
It's just it's not a very nationalized, uh, three pick sixes so far this year. There you go.
So I'm telling you, it's an underrated secondary.
So I am concerned.
I hear a lot of Ravens fans talking about how Lamar is going to come out, and he's going to start feeding the ball to Hollywood Brown because of what Hollywood tweeted out.
And I get it because that's what we're used to, you know, that's That's the type of games that we used.
We usually have with Lamar is that when somebody you know kind of vent their frustration a little bit, he'll make sure to feed the ball to them.
So They're a little bit happier there.
But I just don't know if this is a good game to have that type of game with Hollywood Brown, because I think that the cold secondary could actually shut that down if they wanted Thio.
So obviously, the defensive line is a concern of mine.
You have to force Buckner just in Houston, and you've got some obviously underrated players on there that are definitely, definitely I'm not even going to say can give problems.
They will give problems to our offensive line because I know it's gonna happen.
Like we said No Ronnie Stanley on the left side anymore.
We moved Orlando Brown from the right side to the left side, who he played well against the Steelers.
I will say so and D. J.
Fluker as well, who came in at swing tackle there.
So they played decently against the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive line.
But when it comes to pass blocking, that's been where they've struggled a lot.
I feel like they do a lot better run blocking, obviously, because that's kind of what we're built to Dio So yeah, I mean, the past blocking is gonna be a problem the getting open.
And I'm concerned that Lamar is gonna wanna come out and have a pass heavy game so he can keep the receivers happy.
And I just don't think that's gonna work.
I think we need to be, you know, embrace our identity.
If you're gonna have Lamar past, have it out of play action out of our post in the red zone.
That's where he really does this work well in the passing game.
But if we have him with those 57 step drops, it just has not been working well at all.
So, um, that's that's really what I'm expecting to see men.
But you know, anything to add to that? No, I I think that yeah, you should probably lean on the on the quick passing game because, like I said, the Colts play a lot of cover to cover three.
And the safety is that we have back there are outstanding, their young.
We have a second year player named Carrie Willis.
We have a rookie out there Julian Blackmon, who is playing lights out.
Don't forget Xavier Rhodes.
People forget about him there that the Colts got him and they're like, Well, he's been trashed last, You know? He's playing it at all pro level right now.
Quarterbacks roads closed right now.
Quarterbacks throwing to him have a quarterback rating of 37 37.
That's not good on then Kenny More.
Also, he had that pick six last week, probably one of the best nickel corners in the nation.
And then we have second year rock Yasin, who is also one of our corners.
He's, um, or of, ah, physical corner.
So, like, if it does play well, does be playing this game.
I'm not sure I don't think so.
I think we're holding off on bringing him up from the practice squad.
So one of your bigger receivers, you're more physical receivers.
That's probably who Rock will end up playing again, waking, But he honestly, like he'll lose that battle every day, all day, every day he sucks.
I don't want to say he stuffs.
He's just he's not physical enough, man.
He's like 64 and he doesn't play to his size.
But anyway, that's that's another time.
But yeah, I think I think both these teams, I think the Colts and the Ravens need to lean on that quick passing attack, try to get some yards after the catch.
I mean, it's pretty much the exact same, in my opinion.
Offensive philosophy for both these teams to win.
It's just who's gonna execute it better? Yep, yep.
And another thing on your defense that kind of terrifies me is, of course, Darius Leonard right in your linebacking corps, because for some reason this year, I don't know what happened.
Man Lamar just He can't see linebackers anymore.
Like that wasn't really a problem last year.
But for some reason we're starting to see that.
He's just pretty much throwing it right toe linebackers like in coverage.
So, like they're fooling him, I don't know.
So I think that Darius Leonard could absolutely take advantage of that.
That's a huge concern, because that's I mean, that's what he did.
On the first drive of last week's game against the Steelers, he threw an interception to a linebacker that, you know it was.
It's not like he came out of nowhere.
He was right there, and he just didn't see him for some reason.
So, um, that's a concern of mine, as well.
That is absolutely a concern of mine.
So how concerned are you about Philip Rivers going into this game? How has he done against the blitz this season? Have you guys played any teams that have, like, a heavy blitz? Obviously.
Not as much as we do, but pretty darn close Chicago Bears.
We beat the bears.
Um, but we only scored 19 on them.
That bears defense.
The bears defense, obviously.
Very, very nasty.
Um, that's another situation where quick passes.
You know, um if you could find a way to get somebody opened down if you see someone open downfield on a blitz because a lot of times when a blitz happens, someone is forgot to get covered and rivers being a quarterback that he is, it has.
The experience is able to see those receivers that get behind the secondary quickly off of a blitz and be able to hit him.
But the problem is, is you guys do get a lot of do.
A lot of bliss is you get your pressures.
If you could get two rivers and frustrate fluster him, which has not happened very much since week three.
If you could fluster him.
You might be able to get him to do what you've been talking about.
What Lamar Jackson's been doing this season, and that's throw those bad ducks, right? I mean, I'll absolutely agree with.
That's the only way.
I think the best way of beating Indy is to send your bliss is heavily not just not just to get the Thio Philip Rivers, but run, blitz and then go to the quarterback.
Go to the run after the quarterback.
You know, blitz to go towards the run and then at the quarterback keeps it.
Just continue on going after the quarterback, because if you could get in his face, you've got a high, very high percentage chance of him end up throwing some kind of really bad decision out there.
So and even with Marlon Humphrey out, you still got a heck of a secondary back there.
I think that's your best bet.
Hopefully, I'm hoping Marcus Peters comes out big and is able Taubate, Philip Rivers on a couple throws there. We'll see.
But the thing is, we also have to capitalize on those turnovers, which is something we also didn't do against the Steelers.
I know I keep going back to it, but it's it's fresh in my mind.
So anyway, s Oh yeah, we're definitely hoping that we get that Philip Rivers.
That's just, you know, prone to mistakes, comes out throwing picks because that would be great for the defense, especially with all the injuries that we're dealing with.
But, um, so do you expect, like Jordan to get, um, or heavy dose of a Jordan Wilkins now instead of a Jonathan Taylor? Do you think that they'll still continue to try to feed Jonathan Taylor? Since you guys did draft him pretty high? This is a game where I'm hoping and praying that why Seymour Jordan Wilkins than Jonathan Taylor this game? Like I said Jonathan Taylor, he's more of a north South runner.
And with the blitzes that you guys bring, there's gonna be multiple times during the game where whatever hole is supposed to be there in the run run scheme will be closed up.
There might be a guy in there, and he's not good at changing direction where man Nohemi Heinz or Jordan Jordan Wilkins is much, much better at doing it.
This is why the loss of Marlon Mack Week one was awful because Marlon Mack was great at avoiding avoiding people who got penetration and got in the back field right in front of them.
Eso Yeah, the reason that I was asking is because I actually picked up Jordan Wilkins on both.
My fantasy team is a little sneaky little move.
I'm not going to start him this week against the Ravens because I trust my defense.
But maybe next week, I don't know how you guys have next week, but so we'll see how that goes. Tightened.
Okay, that could be interesting.
We got we got you guys than the Titans, then the Steelers than the Titans again.
Uh, rough stretch, huh? That's that's one of the toughest stretches in the NFL for four game stretch.
You gotta win at least two games here, I would say, I'll tell you what, after we beat the Ravens will do you a favor and beat the Steelers, too.
How about you do it the other way around? How you let us win, and then you could beat the Steelers for us.
That that will really do us a solid.
This this game I like.
Part of me feels good about it.
Like I feel like we should be able to win this game.
We should be able to have a bounce back game.
I don't see us having to disappointing games in a row because I think this team is too good for that.
But also part of me is like looking at the matchups and I'm like, Oh, man, I don't know.
I don't know if I feel too good about this one.
I think our offensive line could get bullied by that defensive line.
You know, Darius Leonard and those linebackers could give Lamar some trouble over the middle.
Um, so a lot of that is going on.
It's It's kind of like a back and forth for me right now, but I think on Tuesday I actually predicted you guys to win, which was the first time that I picked against my Ravens.
This could change my Sunday by the time we do our little SportsCastr news on Sunday, Maybe I changed my pick, but right now I think I actually I think I have the Colts winning this game. Then I do.
I wanna put in one little thing.
You do say that Lamar Jackson does play better on the road, and I I fully agree with that.
But the Colts defense plays better at home because it's on that turf and they're built for speed and that that turf allows them to play faster.
So, um, this could be a very interesting game.
There could be a few sneaky big plays on both sides of the ball.
Uh, in this game, you might see um, Lamar end up hitting somebody that you don't expect, uh, to go big in this game because of their speed.
And I'm not even I'm not even leaning Hollywood.
I'm talking to somebody else who's got some speed able to catch the football and go because this this turf that the Colts have down there Lucas Oil Stadium, it's made for fast people.
So yeah, interesting.
Well, you just so happen to have to face up against some of the fastest players in Lamar Jackson and Hollywood Brown, so that could actually be a disadvantage for you there.
But hey, you never know because you guys, but we have incredibly Yeah, we got very fast defense.
Not just not just, uh, in the secondary, but, man, our linebackers are incredibly fast.
Uh, you already know Darius Leonard, but the guy on the other outside is, um, Bobby.
And he's built just like Darius Leonard.
Just No one knows him yet right now.
Yet eventually, maybe he'll get a few Probo votes. You never know.
So this is gonna be a good game.
And I mentioned it before we went live.
I think that this is one of those games that whoever goes up by two scores first will probably end up with the wind.
I'll also throw in that whoever wins the turnover battle will probably end up winning as well.
I think that's fair to say.
So I think it's just gonna be one of those games.
Um, I don't know how high scoring it will be.
It could potentially be high scoring.
I could see it happening, but it also could be potentially like a low scoring, you know, defensive grinded out battle.
So you just I don't I don't see this game getting out of hand for either team.
I don't think either team is gonna win by more than but by two scores.
But if if they two, if a team does get up by two scores, then I think they keep the lead.
But I think, uh, it'll probably end up getting closed up a little bit by the end of the game.
Whoever gets up by two scores first, if that happens when this game, I fully 100% agree with that.
But yeah, this could be the makings of, Ah, 16, 13 game.
But it also could be, Ah, 30 27 game exactly were.
Yeah, it's It's just one of those games, but I think you know, regardless, it's gonna be a good matchup.
I can't wait for Sunday.
We've been going for almost 30 minutes, so I guess we could go ahead and close out here.
