I think I just got to start with the hat that throw.
All right, What's going on? Everyone woke up to Season two so far.
The Palace Gates ship podcast.
Siri's I'm your host, Alex Tussle along.
If your co host, Grant Foot From Plus the Sports Down Grand hasn't gone today.
Well, I'm doing good.
Can't wait again to some hockey talk.
Quite a bit happened this week, so let's get into it all right before we start.
Um, Boston University player Travis Roy passed away at the age of 45 from a spinal cord injury for those who do not know who's Travis Roy, UM, he played his first game at age 20 with the Boston University Terriers, and 11 seconds later he crashed and fell into the boards.
And it's been it's been very tough, and he has been paralyzed from the neck down.
Yes, it is very sad to hear, but it's been shot inspirational from from all New England sports.
Um, not only from like ****y, like football, basketball, baseball, you guys name it from all famous sports.
Have Massachusetts so rest in peace to Travis Roy.
I was devastated to hear that news.
I know he has showed up quite a lot of Bruins games.
I remember he's even dropped the puck a couple times.
But yeah, we obviously, whenever a former player or, you know, somewhere in that category passed away, we obviously want to give our respect.
The beginning of the show.
And now more toe on.
Now we're up to more upbeat stuff.
And before we start asked you guys to put it select Monday and greatly appreciates lost to us.
That's gonna make us do more podcast views in the future.
And let's start even better than Let's all right, let let let's start the worst part.
The Ontario Hockey League.
Well, band cross checking and fighting because of Cove in, I mean, why? Wait, Wait, wait, wait.
Well, the Western Hockey League do it.
The Quebec League did it.
Now the Ontario League.
Well, the Western Hockey League do it.
I hope not. But they might.
I think this is gonna be a downfall of the Canadian Hockey League without a question.
Yeah, like for me? It's Everyone has to be against it for sure.
like I mean, even John Scott opened up about it.
Listen, I mean, listen, all right, you're the Milic ova, and you want to erase fighting from hockey.
That's bad in itself.
But I understand why when you erase body checking What, like what? What sense does this even make? I mean, okay, So when a guy is in the board's having possession of ****, you're telling me you can't just start over there and deliver a good hit that way.
You pretty much telling me you can't see the puck, you know, try stepping nice to cyst or something.
That's what you're pretty much telling me.
You are just killing the sport.
Just don't even just cancel the season.
At that point, you physically cannot have hockey without body checking or any type of hitting.
You need that in hockey.
Why do you think hockey one of the most toughest athletes out there? Because they fight and they hit.
I'll tell you, it's for development when they go to the NHL.
Yeah, like so pretty much if LA for near is a power forward.
But while he's a playmaker, obviously in real life, but if LA for near is a power forward.
If, like he does not record any hits, that's pretty much gonna like, like decreases draft status to like a like a mid first round pick.
I mean, you need when we especially when you draft someone, you need to see their full.
You pretty much got see everything? Yeah.
Obviously, if they can play, they could play a little defense, play some great offense, have since people You also got to make sure that they can hit and stuff is, well, just erasing that aspect from the game entirely for a year.
It's just like, Well, that certainly isn't good for the prospects who, you know, can, you know, get wrapped in the NHL next year.
That's just not good.
So, you know, the the scouts and stuff, they aren't getting the full painted picture.
So you just got Thio the keep body checking, you know, again, I I can With Kobe, I can agree with the no fighting to a certain degree.
But again, the body checking is just absolutely ridiculous.
I mean, that is one of the most common things in the sport.
You got to keep that or you might as well just cancel the season at that point, because, Okay, you killed the kids Development.
And like, like, like body checking.
You're not like, like with your bare hands.
You're wearing gloves because, like, you're covered with equipment and everything exact and like, pretty much like like, if you like.
Like, let's say, if they don't like where equipment, that's a different story.
Then there's, like nobody checking because you can easily break a bone.
Am I right? Exactly.
Then there's nobody checking in general.
Correct? Yeah, like Okay, Like, let's say no fighting.
You can't body check.
You can like pushing shopping like the refs can just jump in, and it's gonna be, like, two seconds, like, you know, And that was the other thing I was gonna mention.
It's like, Okay, what? Someone does, like, commit a body check. Like what they do.
We're gonna game misconduct for it.
We're going to clean hit.
It's like I was the referee is gonna feel just kicking these kids out this because, you know, there's trying toe, you know, make a play on the Parker, you know, ship mo mentum a little bit or I don't know.
No, but it just doesn't make sense why you would give her the body checking in any type of even in high school hockey.
It doesn't make sense.
Yeah, especially when you know these kids air.
You know, in the last couple of years before actually getting to the big leagues, it's like you need to see all the aspects from there.
Yeah, because because, like, U S A hockey rules like I got one penalty, which was embarrassing.
You guys can laugh at me all you want.
So Okay, so I was playing a game.
It was in the third period, like 14, like, 12 minutes, 13 or 12 minutes up to go in the third.
Like like the opponent was just standing there and I was just running and just hit.
And they said, two minutes, 10 minute misconduct, a shoot you pretty much just kind of a game misconduct just for like, pretty much boarding into charging now.
It was like a week hit and, like Oh, yeah, that that's a bonehead move called SportsCenter.
Top 10. Most embarrassing place.
I gotta dig out the clip for that one.
But anyway, e o exactly.
It's like Okay, well, what? These guys just commit a minor hit like you're going to give him the game.
This contact, that's stupid.
It's not part of the rules.
Just doesn't make sense.
And it probably messes up with the players.
You know, minds as well.
Thinking news, this good hits that's not.
Or if he commits a good hit if they can O g s, am I gonna have to go in the penalty box now? It's just gonna just so confusing, just it is improper.
So yeah, just either you lot body checking, like usually would or just canceled.
All right, Next topic.
I think we're gonna make up to this.
Does anyone know this dude? Yeah, That's right.
Why am I bringing this up? But all right, let's let's let's just stripped the band aid off really quick.
Um, Grady received written votes for the 2020 election in Berlin.
T County, New Jersey.
Way to go, boys.
Okay, whoever actually voted for Grizz E From or County New Jersey First off your legend and second off, why wasn't in David Ayer's anyway? Because the generation North Carolina or Canada.
Yeah, but I mean, this was even a person from Philadelphia.
This was a person from New Jersey.
It's like, Shut up to this guy.
He is absolutely incredible.
But you know, uh huh.
Listen, you know the fact that we had Kanye West for one of our presidential elections this year, that was, you know, pretty rough in itself.
So why not just throwing pretty in the mix? Uh, I was then I'm for it.
Obviously is not gonna win the This is probably the only vote even received, but I'm for it.
Alright, Bring out something else really quick that I'm write this down the notes or anything, but I guess I heard a rumor that Todd Bertuzzi might move back to Vancouver if Joe Biden wins the election.
E guess we all know what happened.
Oh, yeah, Well, mine's in the weed right now by a lot, so it looks like opportunities going back to Canada, so make sure go see him in Detroit.
What you can Well, um I'm pulling up.
I'm sorry for bringing this up.
Six more doctoral votes for Joe Biden to win 27 right When I get the politics. Yeah. Okay.
Congrats to this guy for actually voting for gritty.
And I find it so great how it was actually a, you know, write in vote because there's no other way you could have actually voted for him pretty much unless it was like they write in votes.
So yeah, show to this guy.
He made the show, and yeah, I mean, write in votes.
I guess you can get a little bit more leeway for that, so I can't complain.
Good job to the duty.
Did that? All right.
Michael Wilson is back with the Leafs.
5 million that that's what you get for Leafs Legend.
Yeah, well, the only really positive thing out of the sun, I think, comes for either end for either us or the Maple Isa's.
Well, first off, Hutchinson is gonna be NHL goaltender for the most part if they use them as a backup.
Frederik Andersen doesn't get hurt.
But in the most part, you know, he was okay with the jets back in the day.
But even then now he's pretty relevant.
But the funny thing is, when the signing happened to my post on Instagram actually tag Steve dangle on my story.
I was like, Hey, you're good or something like that because obviously, I was expecting him to be pretty upset about the Michael Washington what you would go on to make a video and no, you didn't really care.
You're just like, all right, this is mainly NHL signing, But it was funny, actually viewed it.
So that was cool.
That was pretty much only positive thing.
I had to say back.
That's pretty much the only reason why I have been brought this up.
Because Michael Hutchinson is a to this point a starting NHL goaltender, wouldn't you say, for the most part? Well, mhm, I would say he's gonna be your third string goaltender.
So or he's gonna be a healthy scratch on the main roster.
Or if Aaron Del is like garbage.
C was ever a goaltender.
Listen, Erin Dell has challenged man.
He ain't gonna get replaced by Michael, huh? No way are in Delta BC is very good.
And you have Joseph Wall, Who's your fourth goaltender? And in skies your physical tender like luckily like Kashmir.
Caskey Swot is in Nashville because this dude got slaughtered on national TV in his first NHL game.
Hey, what was that? Is that it wasn't as bad as **** bel Dish.
I don't know who he is, the Bruins goaltender.
You know, when they black and like, game three or four something on he was the rookie land, like four goals in the period.
I think I think he had, like, five goals or e think against.
It's like seven or six.
I don't know His first game, he got slaughtered on everyone watching on NBC that this rookie, this dude got slaughtered.
Like, why wasn't I commentating that game? Hang, I must.
Oh, it Well, listen, Michael Hutchinson.
I mean, it's good to see him on the team, I guess.
I mean, I know who's on Colorado.
Last year he actually played okay in the playoffs that, uh overall, he's still pretty mediocre, so and he's probably gonna be the third single.
I mean, myself, I'd rather take Aaron Del over my collections in any day of the week, so maybe that? Hey, Toronto hashtag bring back nail Yakupov Former and Yeah, he's a legend.
Uh, you guys will know who he is.
No, it's not the rock.
It's not stone cold.
Steve Austin, please.
Welcome through the show, Mr Mike.
Is it the Miss Knope? Mike Taison? Yes, sir.
And guess who wants to fight Mike Tyson? Because we never bring a boxing ever on the show.
But certain someone wanted to fight him, Mr.
George LaRock or Mr George the Rock.
No, no, seriously.
So, like, I know this guy is, like, very tough and stuff, and like he I know he was pretty good grinding with the Canadians back in the day.
Why would you wanna even now a day? My Taison? Why would you wanna fight him? You want to die? I don't know, because you know, the in reality, I mean the roughly around the same age.
Probably if not, uh, it's not a little bit older, but, you know, Texas is probably a bit older, but overall, he's just probably a much better shape.
And again, like I know the Rock was one of the better grinders in the early two thousands, but it's that at the same time, it's like he's I honestly, I would want to Donald Brashear, if anybody again.
A professional by Donald Brashear I know Capitals legend.
I would want to see him or George Perils or Sean Thornton.
It would be one of those three guys I would want to see actually find the mayor or whatever.
Now LaRock would get absolutely have a of his if Rick ripping or wait be like was alive, then have them on Rick ripping.
Or the Boogeyman.
Derek Boogaard? Yeah, or Derek Door set e grinders.
John's got to, I guess, pressure McClaren that lets people know these dudes gonna be u F C e don't even know why I'm we really figured since it's the offseason, we would get a little bit of leeway and talk about stuff like this.
That that's why we put it on.
Yeah, no, Um, let's see.
All right, Rick Bonus upgrade to full time head coach.
That is a W for sure.
This dude took his team to the Stanley Cup final in Edmonton, Alberta.
Yes, that's right, guys.
Um, if you guys are new to hockey, then you you will know.
Um, Rick Bonus was a interim head coach.
Like around November or December.
You're you're in one month ago before the Winter Classic before the Winter Classic.
Tuck his talents as a head coach to Dallas and look what happened eight months ago or nine months ago, the Dallas Stars wanted to cut final out of nowhere.
You mean only two months ago.
But yes, I get what you mean.
Yeah, but I mean, overall, what a smart move by Dallas.
I mean, they would have been stupid, you know, make him their full time head coach.
Because obviously, you know, when interns and we've seen NHL coaches, you don't have very good.
You know, success is an intern coaching, you know, many of them have ended up, you know, becoming full time.
That coaches afterwards.
Brick Post is another great example of that.
I mean, absolutely no way the star shouldn't have got rhythm or anything.
You know, it was such a smart move to obviously an upgrade to the main head coaching role.
And, you know, I don't know if the stars would, you know, make another run to the finals next year.
I don't think that, but what I do things that the stars still gonna be in playoff contention for the next few years and obviously with Rick Bones and who has already experienced so much in such a little amount of time, you gotta have someone like him there, right? You know, try to get into, you know, more deep playoff runs.
You know, maybe eventually the second cup for the stars, but yeah, I mean, overall, you really can't complain about this Move.
If you're starting your whining, you are absolutely nuts.
You should be jumping up and down.
This guy is a fantastic coach.
Still very young.
But like I said, the star is going to still be in contention.
Speaking of Dallas, house ain't rockin no more because of Ben Bishop and Tyler Seguin of just getting Sagan.
Siegel, Tyler Siegel.
Okay, They're both going to be out five months for a hip injury.
Hip injury? Yeah.
Torre meniscus for best up hip injury per se.
Again, this is gonna be a little bit tough.
Well, I'll tell you one good thing for Dallas.
They have a strong goaltending in Texas.
The Texas Stars.
You gotta check on Oettinger.
So pretty much could've been and loading jerkin Both pair up and pretty much like you're all set to go because Ehlinger played in the U. S. Program.
Won the gold medal in 2017, I believe.
And he played in the Carter cut violent in his first year in pro.
So I'll tell you, I'll tell you that because could've been playing stand like a final Olinger won the gold and playing in color final.
I think you're all set as a replacement for Ben Bishop.
You know, And that's when the other thing when this news came out, I was also like, Well, the stars just still fine because obviously we sounds we could open in the finals and of course, they re signed them earlier in the off season.
But, you know, the other thing is yeah, could've and could lead him to success.
The other thing is, you know, Times thing was playing through an injury all playoffs, and he honestly did next to nothing after the second round, so he was pretty much quiet throughout the Vegas, Siri's and the Lightning Siri's.
So I think overall, even with these two players out there for the most part, still fine.
And they pretty much have the same exact playoff team that's last year, even with two pretty huge injuries.
So overall, I can't get playing like you said.
I mean, Joe, I think you could certainly be ready to go.
I also know they have plans bowing the miners as well.
I heard he's decent.
So you know, the stars.
They definitely find the goaltending position.
And for the stars, their forward course.
Still pretty depth overall.
Like they still have a lot of pretty good playmakers from the bottom six.
And I'm sure some guys down there in Texas, so yeah, overall, like we e don't think dusty end off the world per se.
And plus, they'll be back by playoff time is well, so yeah, the injury Definitely cupping worse for the stars.
Uh, next topic, I would Let's say some owners want to cancel the season.
Should we just start the worst first and save the best for last? Sure.
Um, owners? Yeah.
Didn't you guys know what happened in the offseason.
Why did free agents you want to start the season? You guys said that you want to start the season, January early, December, like December after Christmas.
And now I'm hearing you might get pushed back to February.
I was like that.
They ain't playing like I heard reports the other day to They're still trying to play in a two game season.
Why? Because 82 game season.
You have to start in October.
You are not doing the whole playoffs in the summer deal again.
I don't think they want to go down that road.
Honestly, I don't even want to go down that role.
I'd rather just have a certain, you know, a shortened season.
So the playoffs starting in April or May? Yeah.
I would say, like, have a 41 game season, Right? Cut the season half, Sergeant January kept the season half. There you go.
Do do do something, like in 2013, right? And don't exactly just like in 2013.
You don't have the Eastern Conference teams in the Western Conference teams make the Eastern Conference, you know, trips.
You just have, you know, the eastern conference teams play the Eastern Conference teams.
What Western Conference teams play the Western Conference teams like in 2013, you go. That's what you dio.
And the other thing is, you know, the arms.
And I was like, Oh, we're losing so much money because obviously the regular season, you know we can't, you know, all regular season, the bubble and stuff.
And I know we were suggesting couple upsets, but like if you were todo, you know, a bubble, it would be like all the Western Conference teams playing California, like all the Eastern Conference teams playing like New York, New Jersey, that area.
But even then, there would still be a pretty much a struggle.
But, like also, yeah, sure you wouldn't have fans attending.
But wouldn't you want to get some TV ratings and said, No TV ratings? That's That's the other thing I want to say.
Like, Why would you just, you know, let this whole you know, Why would you just let the season No.
Stay on hold for another couple of months where you could at least cash in some profit? You know, your online stores, you know, like NHL shop dot com or whatever.
You know, your your gift shops.
And obviously, you know, TV ratings.
You know other sports memorabilia from, like that franchises like E don't get it.
Just like play the season.
Shorten it but started around February.
Alright, Next, let's g o stars resigned Julius Honka to a one year deal.
I'll tell you this.
This was a surprising because Honka have not hasn't played a game since, Like three years ago.
He played in Europe the whole time.
Like I think he said, like night, Let's start to 2018, 19 season.
I'm gonna stand Europe until I get traded Like he requested a trade.
You pretty much pulled the lives Anderson Pretty much, you know, our or a yes, you pull your RV type or Joshua? Yeah, like that.
That was a surprise, but well, I think like one year is that good? Because I think that I they don't want to give him another shot at at the NHL like truck because I like he He wants to be back because there are a playoff contending team.
When he was in the organization, there were like like bubble teams like or like start like a rebuilding team like Chicago or Nashville.
Like right now, for example.
Right? Like I think Honka can can be, like 1/7 defenseman.
Or like, a healthy scratch.
Play like like, like, 60% off the of the season, right? Yeah, I I agree.
I mean, this is a, you know, lower this.
Ah, high risk, you know, Or low risk, high reward type of contract.
Because, yeah, if you can master seven pairing defenseman, you know, someone gets injured.
At least he has a little bit of NHL X experience.
Not to mention, you know, all that practice he hadn't remember.
He was one of the best defenseman coming out of the WHL.
I think we forget about that for a second.
He was one of the absolute, you know, best rookie defenseman.
What was the point? 14 class? I want to say hey, was he was very good.
He was very talented in the, you know, in the junior leagues and stuff.
So I think overall, it would just be it was smart Firdaus to re sign him.
I mean, honestly, I wouldn't shock me and, you know, you know the other thing, too, with the stars.
You know, if you can't get any playing time, you can use them as trade bait.
I think a team who, you know, would be desperately for a defensive like, say, for example, a team like Detroit Or, you know, Ottawa Remington.
I think they would really take a look at, you know, Julius Honka.
If you know, the stars were to just pretty much not giving may playing time or just keep him in the minors to keep him as a healthy scratch for the majority of the time.
On sugary Yeah, three kids still got a little bit of a potential left.
Yeah, e, uh, see hurricanes resigned, warned Fogle to a one year, $2.
Um, that is a underpayment.
Like what? The money is fine, but the year length needs to be, like, two or three years because I guess we all know what happened in the 2019 playoffs off.
Don't get you going.
I'm not because because I'm not over.
Anyway, well, Warren Fogle is like a solid power for and almost a 20 goal score, so like, I think, like two or three years, we'll be like an acceptable contract.
But I would say, like the money, like the money is good.
2.15 for, like, two or three years.
Would you agree on that? Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, Fogle is definitely a very solid piece, you know, and I'm pretty sure he's gonna be playing in the hurricane third line next year.
And you know, he is making third line player money, But more of the story Is he still in his early twenties and he's just about to reach his peak.
So I would definitely say that probably next year over the year they gave him a three or four year deal.
That would be my prediction.
Yeah, around five. Miller.
So, yeah, I think his next contract, if he if he liked lives up the height that he that he was like after the 2019 plus and I would say, like, give him, like, a three or four million contract and let's go, Let's talk about Buffalo.
Victor Olson signed two years, 6.
That is a good contract.
That was a great contract.
I even years were a little bit higher, although he is 26 I'm pretty sure, but I think overall you could even gave wholesome like a four or five year deal and then obviously a 6.
10, that's fine.
But honestly, the way Olsen played last year, I would be totally satisfied giving them looking for a five year deal went around like 15 20 million.
Maybe you might think that's an overpayment.
I think I would rather paying big now than pay him again in two years.
Pretty much, yeah, just taking the money now and be done with it because you know he's 26.
Yeah, so he's 25 Okay? So paying again when he's 27 and then, Yeah, they'll probably give another three or four year deal when he's 27.
If, uh, if he, you know, continues to progress.
And you know it gets better in this game, of course.
And yeah, but then within one set, three or four year contracts fires, he's in his early thirties.
Now you're thinking, Oh, jeez, we should just gave him, you know, the money deserved back then, right? So I think overall it's a good contract.
I mean, I'm not knocking it down.
And I think it is just a smidge bit of an underpayment again.
I would have gone about three or four years for about 10 mil.
Also. Pretty good contract.
Booth gets right wing here that night.
Court has undergone surgery on the left shoulder and will miss 5 to 6 months.
Oh, yeah, This is worse than the second.
Abandon Gery, I think because Gustav Nyquist is a fantastic player.
I mean, obviously fantastic speed.
And you know, he's gonna be playing on the line with Max Domi and Cam Atkinson, and that's a dangerous front three.
But of course, now, this injury, we're gonna put in the first line now, Like Nick Folino.
Pierre Luc Dubois.
I mean, like, were you gonna replace on that first line now? Yeah, just It was a Nyquist is pretty much he honestly is, in my opinion, a very underrated player.
He has been with the Red Wings for a while.
When you went to the sharks for a brief second, you know, he was still producing well there, and I was on the Blue Jackets Overall.
Yeah, Gustav Nyquist is a very underrated player and a very He's just a solid guy, you know, if you can.
Okay, I'll be for a whole, you know, 82 game season, you get average roughly 40 points a game.
And now, maybe even more adding, Max told me that Columbus roster I think you'd be averaging, you know, five or 10 more points, honestly, probably you Definitely not a few more assists.
I would think so.
Overall, that this one is gonna hurt Columbus just a little bit again in such a stack.
Yeah, pretty much it's gonna come down to for Columbus.
Gonna come down to us.
You have a solid defense? Yes, on some Ursuline skins and, you know, corpse celebrate good times, but it's gonna come down to you have that top six like you did last year to get the job done and to go deep.
Playoffs grows up, Nyquist out for five or six months Green.
You would probably be back for the playoffs, but with hardly antiqued experience that year, it's gonna be a little bit rough for him.
I would assume so.
Yeah. Got hurt. Columbus.
Um, where am I? At um, next topic orders.
Sign Dominica, Who to a one year, $975,000.
Um, that is a underpayment.
I think the one year is good, but I probably would have bumped up like 1.2 mil.
Well, then, at that point, you might as well get a e.
I would say, like, 2.5.
Yeah, for, like, two years.
That that would've been a good contract. I agree.
A bit of an underpayment there.
Yeah, I think I think for elected 2.
5 for, like, a one year, I think their degree and put them in the sea.
Expansion draft eligibility being of Seattle be Jake Allen.
Will be available for the sale expansion draft.
And I'll be over, Alan, I'll tell you that there might have been picked them both up.
Could have one of the best or most in the league.
I mean, I theoretically, you could pick them both up, but honestly, I think if you were Seattle, I would probably looking at felt that No, If I was Seattle for Montreal, I maybe try to pick him up if he was eligible.
I mean, overall, though, that should definitely be interesting about the crack.
And, you know, and I definitely think Brian hope he's going there.
Now that is out from this time of Vancouver will be over by that point.
You might also go there.
I could also see the crack and trying to go after someone like Thomas Price.
I think you could be another one that they might go after.
Maybe send me ever Allama for peace.
Eligible is well, but and that should definitely be interesting about about Yeah.
Yeah, That'll be interesting in Britain.
Hope you don't mind. You're doing something.
Uh, let me get a brand.
Hope you want Seattle.
That would be very interest.
And speaking of goaltender's Canadians legend Dustin Takhar ski stand, Nostalgia's back establishes back into car ski.
Well, they signed a two year, $1.
4 million deal with the savers.
And let me tell you this Tarkovsky is only 31.
I thought he was much older cars.
Let me just tell you one.
And I want to tell you one thing.
It would be a bad idea toe, actually trade car hunting.
I know it's a Carhartt on my car hunting idea, actually.
Trade car hunting, Stark our ski.
I know he hasn't played a game since 16.
17, and that was only one game with the Ducks.
But let me tell you, this guy is still pretty solved in the HL level.
And not to mention what he did with Montreal about a half decade ago.
I'm telling you, you think I'm crazy, but I am on the full.
Dustin. Two cars, dehydration.
He should be backing up.
Lies Hallmark in Buffalo and Carter hunting.
If he continues to struggle, prayed.
Um, Boom. You got your reliable backup.
Would you agree? Mhm.
Yeah, I think two car ski over Hutton.
I mean, really a play like you did last year.
That that that really isn't saying much.
Next, uh, next topic.
Um, do do you Do you What should we talk about? I think we could talk about the Anthony Booth.
Anthony Matha. Yeah.
Yeah, and the methods.
And it was a four year, $22.
And this is exactly what you wanted from him.
This is the exact contract.
This is an overpayment.
This is an underpayment.
Guys 26 he has shown over the past couple of seasons.
Hey, could really be a first line winger.
Take a look at last year and 43 games.
Yeah, 38 points on a pretty below average rebelling team.
And not to mention back in his.
You know, he's been doing pretty well since the second year in the league.
He has never outside of three points his rookie year, his career low in points of 36 races rookie year.
And that was in 60 games as a second year player.
This guy, he actually is pretty solid.
And not to mention he seems to be pretty good on the power play as well.
Three goals on the power play, 137 shots.
This is just last year.
Stats, um, 49 hits, maybe a little bit more in the, you know, hitting category, but you know, zero shorthanded goals, but it does have six power play goals.
It seems like in the method is a pretty lethal guy on the power play, and I've always liked them coming out of the way to come out of the, um J.
I'm pretty sure that's what the league came out of, but anyway, I'd like him ever since.
You know his college days back, Earth, minor league days back in 2015 or so.
Now, you've just been a fantastic player for Detroit, and and I had to keep them around and pregnant Smart move by signing him, and they didn't over pay him either, which was good.
So props on the Red Wings for re signing it.
Very well learned contract on his behalf.
I e under has resigned Ryan Pulock to a two year, $10 million.
Um, $5 million per season? Well, yeah.
I mean, I think this is just like the math.
This is an overpayment.
This isn't underpayment.
I mean, you are giving a guy, you know, the contract.
I mean, I would have personally gone for, like, a 40 year deal worth about, like, 18 million on, so if you want to ask me because I mean, bollocks just turned 26 about a month ago, and this guy, he has just hit his ceiling so I would have probably game for five year deal.
But last year in 68 games tangles for a defendant.
35 points and again, he has averaged over 30 points the last three seasons, two of which, in 2017 2018. Of course.
Last year he only played 68 games, and last year he was also on getting a career high in points but wasn't for Kobe.
He would have gotten a career high in points his career highs in 2018 19 with 37.
Last year, you had 35.
Yeah, this guy could simply again it done, not to mention the three power play goals.
Onley 14 penalty minutes.
That's not bad for a defenseman in 163 shots on goal.
Hey, Beth. Statistics for defenseman.
Overall, to the doctors, I think this is.
I think this is an underpayment.
Yeah, like what? Has a crazy slapshot, I'll tell you that.
Oh, he does? Yeah, exactly.
And that's why scores so many goals.
Because slapshot, I swear, like we never makes an All Star game.
I would love to see him in the slapshot competition because I e least 95 e and the finance.
Shea Weber and Ryan Pulock Go go All on it, Lindsay.
Char appears and puts, um, both of bed or or Martin Perk.
You know what happened? HL harder.
Uh, but yeah, Overall, I understand by the Islanders again, For a player, just it is stealing your paying this guy, Especially since you got rid of Devon Tape's.
You should have the salary to get this guy the money he earned, but whatever.
I think we need to talk about Mr Mitchell Miller.
Oh, well, if you don't know, he was the Coyotes prospect they drafted in this year.
And what, the second or third round? I don't remember that.
The third round, I'm pretty sure.
Eso The coyotes drafted them this year, and reports came out about a couple weeks after the draft that he was allegedly bullying in autistic in high school and he was also a racist.
Why wasn't this announced during the draft? Is the question I want to ask because now, Now, Because now Arizona, they get the rights of that draft pick back.
But why wasn't this announced during the draft? Like Like they're basically like like waiting till the last minute.
Technically, Like it Based Off of what? Yeah, Like myself.
I heard Mitch Miller.
He doesn't deserve to be in the based off of what I'm hearing. But again on.
And then now he's got to be pretty much in the cage for the rest of his life.
Basically, what I'm saying is that you should have announced this for the draft before Arizona drafted them, right? Or like the day after the draft, you shouldn't wait a couple weeks for all these rumors.
You should have just been right on top of it.
You should have known this guy's portfolio right from the beginning to be like we know what you've been doing.
You've been bullying, you know, bullying people.
You've been racist.
We we aren't having this.
The NHL, you're just gonna go is an undrafted free agent if someone to pick you up.
Whatever. But you aren't getting drafted.
That's what I feel like.
If the NHL knew about, they should a handful.
But what? What do you think? Um e like, um, explain like like explain first and then like like like as like a positive situation like Tell, tell of the NHL team saying like I've been I've been having a bad bowling track record for me being in the league.
We'll like we'll change like change change, president because like I'm technically like being like all being with all like 20 to 30 year old men with and with coaches and like once, like he continues to and like, pretty much like he's gonna they're gonna say like, no like that Doesn't matter if you if you're with the team for, like, two weeks, two months? No.
And they shouldn't be in the NHL myself for what I've heard.
And and the other thing is, if they were to let them, they're playing the NHL anyway.
Well, I know how many people would like purposely try the body, check him and stuff.
I hate to say it, but I feel like a lot of people would a lot of players would I? I try to speculate.
I think someone like Ciara would just run them over multiple times to teach that guy a lesson.
I feel like that would happen with all the big guys from all 30 other teams.
And the other thing is to Arizona.
They don't want to circus me.
They want a media circus going on.
Either they're like, All right, we heard about this guy.
We know he's bad.
We're just gonna release a draft.
I think Arizona made the spark call there and tore my retire.
When Miller ever.
It's a like a grinder or right? Yeah, Well, Caspian, the top Wilson, right? Yeah.
And I would be interested to see if Tory Crew doesn't know.
No helmets hit for the second time.
E mean, imagine.
No, I mean Richie Miller.
Just smart road game at the league.
Obviously, I still think they have to go through court and stuff before they actually like, banned them from the NFL for good and stuff.
But based off what? I have a good good thing You're not putting them on the ice.
All right, now, let's make everything up in a good way.
Let's react to the NHL 94.
You want 10 player rings for Angel 21? Um, I love the idea with the way the NHL 94 rewind is a game mode.
That's a smart strategy by EA Sports.
Yeah, look very good.
Um, I actually agree.
All of them, but we can just just talk about everything.
Carmack David, obviously 99 overall.
20 working out here.
I think he's 21 or 22.
Am I going crazy? Hold up here.
Are they really that young? You gotta be kidding me or he's I don't know.
I don't know. 20 three. I thought so.
I was, like, 21 when he got drafted or No, he's, like, 20 when he got drafted on my gold on, right? Yeah.
Um, Alex Ovechkin, 95.
I think I think that he should be, like in 93.
Oh, yeah, I can agree with that.
Yeah, I agree with David.
99 Ovechkin, 95.
I probably had him at, like, 939 for us.
I go down, I would say Crosby, at this point, like a 91.
Yeah, like 91 or 89 because because he's been getting a lot of injuries.
It's been injury prone in the past couple years.
No, you're wrong.
It's just to be, I think, in the nineties are very high eighties, right? Not the 95 that we, you know, we would have frayed him back a few years ago before all these injuries started to pile up.
Like for only reason, if he's 95 is that he wanted to Stanley Cup in 2000 nine? Yeah, because exactly, even though the 16 17 run, Crosby was obviously good, but he still wasn't great.
So you make a good point.
Nathan MacKinnon, 93.
This student needs to go higher.
I would say Makins about 95 96 at this point is a fantastic player.
I agree with that.
Que trough higher 93 Cruz off 93 again, I'd say Probably 95.
Well, I'd say 9394 is gonna probably giving the edge and put him out 94.
Who dropping things should get a little upgrade.
93 down, down knock ins and Crosby's in the low nineties.
Malkin's definitely in the high eighties, so I would say pry 80.
Yeah, try sell 92 higher.
Uh, dry sounds Gotta be day in 96 97.
You should be right up there with David.
This dude won the Art Ross trophy in the M v P.
Yeah, that was the wondering where I was actually like, four.
I'm like, Wait a minute, Dry 1090 to him.
Like that guy's got me.
At least in 96 at least.
But not even higher.
Yeah, I was rough.
John Carlson hired any too.
Well, I would be like nineties like a exactly like it was on nine.
I'm with you on that one.
Well, thank God Roman Josi ain't on that list.
Yeah, I guess you really only department on here.
And Hedman, we'll get to heaven as sec.
Yeah, only Carl's heavily.
Only two on here.
We'll save the best for last for have been since this dude won the concept.
Vasilevskiy, this dude needs to go higher.
Yeah, that was last few 91. I agree.
Should be about 94.
That would say, look, at 93 or 94.
Yeah, I agree with that as well.
Maybe even 95 because they want to consummate.
It's now time for the top 10 favorite Metropolitan Division players Favorite.
So we're just doing based off a talent.
Brennan likes, like number nine Brennan.
Life's number eight.
David, There is David and David.
They're just okay, all right? And I'll seriousness.
Okay, Number 10.
I'm gonna go with Jacob Marana from the Washington Capitals.
What? Oh, my Okay, Okay, okay, alright.
Get this. Are good.
Start. All right, number nine Carter Heart.
I think people are alright.
People are going to call me high on this one.
I think you're already know It's what Jake for Iran is not in the top 10 and got a hard on my list is way higher, but continue.
You guys can call me high on this one.
You Garza Sturcken after our outside number seven Tonka True.
Yea, thank you, Terry.
Okay, Number six.
I'm gonna go with Jack use because he has because he's gonna have a good future in the next three or four years.
Okay, I was I was So I'll get what I was saying.
It's like I was about to put a devil player wasn't huge, but I was about to put the Devils play around here.
But I need to make the number five cop cop of Kokko.
Now, now you're going Be high.
Now, I Listen, I ain't going you high, but I do agree with, let's say the majority of this list, so thank you.
Number four Jake Pencil E can agree with that Gonzalez on my list, but I can I can get behind that Number three Nick Backstrom.
Okay, You all right? Now? Now we're going to the good one.
All right? Number, number, number, Numeral dolls.
That will be yes.
Um, actually, I do you think Nick Backstrom is better than Sean Couturier? Right now? I have to think, Travis, connect these by the Nicholas back from right now.
You gave me that answer, Travis.
Connecting number two.
I was going number two.
Okay, number one, Dougray himself.
No, this dude needs no introduction.
I want Ovechkin's number one.
We'll see what I put on weight.
Now you'll see my was holed up.
That was interesting.
I want because I just don't agree with them, but interesting.
Alright for my horrible mentions.
Um um Brian Rest? Yeah.
Kyle Palmeri Mackenzie not Not Palmeri.
Oh, very good. Alright.
And, um yeah, Uh, not very.
Dangelo 40 DeAngelo.
Oh, my God, we have Oh, my God.
Are lists are so much different.
The only one we were relatively in the same ballpark is Sean Couturier.
Other than that, we are completely And I guess Ovechkin other than those to me, are completely different.
Last year for mine.
Now try not give you a heart attack for mine.
I got Zachary Lynskey.
Young break for your hair? Uh, no, He's very good with the Blue jackets.
Up was agree with, uh, yeah, for nine.
We got anything to say? I think Sam is gonna make a name.
Michael Murphy means saying Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Jake Marana, Jake, for trying in the top 10 metropolitan players.
Anyway, number nine I got Sebastian.
Aho probably could be higher in a couple of years.
I like Sebastian Aho.
He was He was pretty good throughout the regular season. Piece in the playoffs.
Don't see past that nine. Alright.
Number eight, Matthew bars.
L Why am I forgetting him? We have people ourselves at a fantastic player.
First liner on the Islanders, soon to be $40 million man e Like the guy e.
He's got Ronaldo money.
Obviously, I don't know, but that would be impossible.
Best defenseman in the division.
I've done second best.
Sorry, I got one more defenseman ahead of him.
Second best defenseman in the division.
All right, Number six, Shock couturier beast.
Massive facts is great vibe.
Okay? I had to put Crosby on the list just because, uh uh, yeah, e don't care about Crosby anymore because he's on the list.
Because if he was healthy, he would be probably, you know, right around Sean Couturier range of Matt Smith.
But better if he was healthy.
So I agree with I'm cool.
Put Crosby f five.
Maybe not anymore.
Some people might describe that for Carter heart.
I think, in my opinion, is the best ball 10 25 in the entire league is probably like the fifth best going in the league right now.
Got her heart is amazing.
Flyers got bright future with, um Well, Palm at four.
Best defenseman on the list.
Uh, the guy is a beast with the Hurricanes, to say the absolute least.
Last year he played extremely well.
40 points and 47 games.
14 goals plus 30 rating.
Think about this way.
Picking up 30 to 20 minutes.
When was the last time you see a player only have two more penalty mix than their plus minus rating? Um, I think someone someone who was nominated for the lay bang, I guess, Yeah, but I like seriously, though, I mean, the £32 plus 30 plus my string.
That is incredible.
Dougie Hamilton gets number three, maybe a bit too high, but I'm cool with that too.
I got Ovechkin and one.
This is why I was losing that.
The fact that this man, you don't have to be your number one.
But the fact that this man isn't even on your list, I'm ready to put my phone.
You are dissing my boy on Terry ****eryn.
You are distant, my boy. Right there.
Get out of here.
It is the best player in the metro right now.
Hands down and not Oh, yeah, I guess I don't know anything about E.
Is not that Metropolitan players this, but it doesn't have a phone.
I guess I'm just gonna standing right here.
So much for tuning way.
I didn't do my honorable mentions.
Oh, yeah. I'm so stupid.
All right, good.
No, you're not. You're good.
But I have a bunch of honorable mentions like I could have Nico. He Sure.
I'm thinking ****, a subpoena.
Chad, I guess you and Ryan Pulock like you mentioned at the top of the show, but I'm gonna only go with my three.
Main are well mentioned here.
Uh, for main three.
I got Travis, connect me, Jacob Slavin and Elvis Marcelin ****ing in.
I'm gonna all right.
I guess I'm just gonna think for trying on his stuff to Metropolitan was it doesn't have Ontario.
Panera, get get him out of here.
I guess I'm just going to stand right here.
Thank you guys so much for tuning into this amazing, weirdest season.
