Yeah, well, what's up, everyone? I'm Kabeer Champ Sports here starting a new broadcast.
And today I am doing my top 10 point guards in the NBA today.
Currently, um, I'm putting on this is a syriza I'm going to do.
Well, um, like, I'm gonna do the positional rankings, like, maybe, like, once or twice each week.
And I'm starting today with my top 10 point guards, uh, in the n b A.
And, Yeah, there's always this is always a interesting topic, a controversial topic.
And I, um I doubt anyone will have the same list.
Um, as me, like every everything will be exactly correct.
And that's fine.
I mean, if there's some that are interchangeable, then sure, there's always gonna be something like that.
Um, but I am basically doing my list.
This is my personal opinion.
Thank you, Marcus. Smart is the goat were during the broadcast.
Um, so this is just my personal list and from my positional rankings, I'm always gonna do some honorable mentions.
3 to 4 for each list.
Um, that barely missed out on the top 10. Cut.
And, um, also, there's some exceptions, like I mean, they're like there's some guys like Steph Curry, Clay Thompson, Kyrie, Irving, Kevin Durant.
Those guys were coming back from injury.
I'm gonna a zoom how they come back at full strength and how they the injuries affect them.
I feel like for those guys, not that much.
But for some of the other ones that maybe you could have said in the top 10 I didn't have, um so, yeah, we could just get into it.
I'm going to start off with some honorable mentions.
This is my point guards list.
Next soon will be my shooting guards soon.
Small force soon para 14 centers.
Um, so yeah, so start off with some honorable mentions.
I have four at this point guard position.
The guys that just missed the cut Our d, Aaron Fox, John Moran, Kyle Lowry and Malcolm Brogden.
So I'm just gonna explain a quick bit about each of those.
Darin Fox, I think, is kind of one of the more slept on young players in the league.
He's a 20 he averaged 20 and six this year.
He's playing on the Kings, and I don't even think that the Kings could have even made the playoffs.
I just I don't think they have the coach to it.
I don't think Walton is a good coach.
Um, and he is a.
He's a good defender.
He's a great offensive player.
He's the leader of the Sacramento Kings, like he's their best player.
Um, however, Justice.
There's 10 guys ahead of him.
He's never made the playoffs before.
Um, he isn't the best shooter.
Um, but he says he has a good all around game.
He could do everything pretty solid, solid, some better than others.
Then we got Jama Red.
I do expect him to be in this top 10 from, like a year or two, just because he did win the rookie of the year.
And it's gonna keep developing because the last rookie of the year, we haven't really seen, um, the last rookie dear we haven't seen that has developed as Michael Carter Williams.
Um, thank you, Kitty Cat in heels for joining the broadcast.
Um, so, yeah, John Moran is going to be there, probably in a couple of years, but he just misses the cut Now.
Kyle Lowry is an interesting one.
Um, he's a he can He is a great leader.
He's really lead.
He was like the best player in the playoffs because Pascal So, yeah, I'm kind of sucked in the playoffs.
Um, Kyle are is a good passer.
He had one of her better.
One of his better scoring seasons.
Um, it does all the little work there. Draw.
If it's drawing charges, he can make the three point shot kind of consistently, Um, and he really did have a great season.
Hey, barely misses out.
He definitely be my 11.
If there is any 11 he'd be the 11 guy.
Um, and then Malcolm Brogden he did is one of the more underrated point guards at this position.
At this position.
He had his best passing season, but he's African like seven assistant game, his best overall season.
A good score, a good shooter, a good defender.
However, he's just not like elite at anything, I'd say.
So this is why he does not make the cut.
All right? So starting off at the number 10 spot, um, starting off of the number 10 spot from the starting point guard off the this.
Actually, let me just say this player because some people could get mad because he's not, uh, higher.
Some people might think he shouldn't even be on the list.
It is an, um, interesting one.
Um, and that is the starting point guard off the Atlanta Hawks.
Um, Trae Young comes in at number 10 s.
So I'm actually gonna during this thing.
I'm actually gonna, um, ask you guys for your opinion here on the whole feature and see yes, a tray young at 10.
Um, so basically, I did portray young here because he is one.
Offensively, he's taught five here.
However, he is one of, statistically, one of the worst offenders in the league.
He still hasn't led his team to the playoffs.
He isn't like he gets a lot of stuff Curry hype.
But you've got to realize, um, and he was He would have a better second season that Stefan Curry did, but Stephan Curry didn't play with, like, Monta Ellis and David Lee Trae Young.
This is Trey Young's team.
He is not that if he isn't super efficient, but yes, calorie, he trae young is, um um so yeah, he's so Marcus.
Smart is the goat does say lower here.
Um, and Lowry would be number 10 in your opinion.
So, yeah, this is an interesting one.
Tray Young is much better shooter, offensive player.
Um, I'm just gonna think of it this way.
If you put Trae Young on the Raptors now, I'm not even gonna live.
I think they could have beat the Celtics, but in the same kind of way, I kind of action they could have because Kemble, because I feel like Kemba Walker would have had one of his like best.
Just because Trae Young isn't a good defender because of his size.
It's an interesting topic.
It's not a great defender, but I feel like he's another one.
That's a bad Um what? Okay.
Thank you for the tip, by the way.
Um, so he's gonna, um He is a, uh Let me try.
I'm trying to figure out where, um, offensive talent can shoot from really anywhere on the court.
He isn't the greatest efficiency, but he takes a lot, a lot of shots.
And he's another guy with a great stats on a bad team.
If they get maybe if click.
Maybe Clint Capela can out them.
If John Collins keep developing dogs.
Could be like a borderline playoff team next season, but Trae Young comes in at number 10 on my top 10 point guards list.
All right, so now is number nine here, and this is a I do have slightly over Trae Young.
They are very similar in a way.
Trae Young had the better stats.
Oh, my God! A very small Kemba Walker comes in at number nine.
Um, Kemba is number nine.
He could maybe some rights, he might not even be on the list.
However he gets in, I feel like him.
Kyle Irene Trade young or two of the tough, The three toughest players to really, really decide.
Um, but I do have Kemba Walker coming in at number nine on this list.
Walker is a trump.
Um, and was had a deep playoff on his deepest of his career.
Um, with the Celtics this year.
Why do I have him over Trae Young is the maybe a good question.
Why? I have Kemba Walker over Trae Young.
So Kemba Walker is more efficient.
He has the higher the higher p er he he was on a better team.
He's better statistically.
Um and yeah, I might even have Kyle Lowry at number nine.
Kemba 10 Tray at 11.
But I could have Trey Larry! Kemba have Kemba! Trey, Larry Here it's in.
I wouldn't be mad if you say Kyle are is a top 10 or even number nine.
I wanna be mad if you to say Kemba is not on the list or Trae Young is not on the list.
This is just my opinion. This is what I think.
So that's this is that was a debate that we're going into the top eight.
Another guy that could not even be on this list.
And he wouldn't be on my list if it wasn't for the bubble.
If that could give you a hint, um and that is gonna be from the Denver Nuggets.
Made a huge leap after the bubble.
Better than Trey Young Kemba Walker. Calorie.
Now it is Jamal Murray who comes in at number eight.
I feel like Jamal Murray.
Kemba Walker Really similar players.
Jamal Murray, though, turned into a superstar in the postseason literally.
He was averaging like he put up like 2 to 3 50 point games in the post season, averaging like 28 most importantly, to 31 comebacks.
Um, so So, um, his? He had a historic historic run in the postseason.
In the regular season, though, I can't boost him up too high, because in the regular season he wasn't really he wasn't an All Star.
I feel like Jamal Murray was actually kind of underrated even before the regular season.
Um, he did he I don't know.
I don't think he got enough craze a second option.
But he played like the number one option.
Even though Nicola Yoga tremendous postseason do like, I think he scored mostly more points than Yokich on the in the postseason. They were both.
I still think Yokich is much better than Murray, but still he comes in at number ages because it was postseason performance.
They're also all those guys are pretty similar in a way.
Um, the guys that I had at the bottom of the list, Jamal Kemba and Trade.
They are offensive guys.
Jamal's better than both of them.
On defense, he had a better bubble performances.
Kemba Walker would be over.
Jamal Murray even before the playoffs even started cause Kemba wasn't even that bad before the playoffs.
Just Kemba didn't have a great playoff performers.
Jamal Murray had a historic playoff performance, which puts him over Kemba.
So number seven year, um, number seven is, um, a guy that had a really good bounce back season this year.
I wouldn't put him in the top 10 last year.
Even I might have been but convinced, like at the beginning of the year.
But how the year ended was a definitely a strong point for him.
And he comes in at the O K C Thunder.
Chris Paul at number seven, Chris Paul over Jamal Murray because Chris Paul was a like the leader of the O.
K C Thunder for the entire year.
I'm also putting the regular season into account.
The thunder weren't even expected to make the playoffs.
They were the five.
They were the five seed.
So Chris Paul Hey, great defender.
He was the He was just the he has turned into, like a borderline an hour in front superstar maybe like a But he he played like he stepped up when it mattered.
Most has some good playoff moments and lead the help the Rockets to force the Rockets to seven games.
Um, despite guys like maybe even like shake yellows, Alexander, even in the playoffs, as good as he is, he was really He was kind of inconsistent.
And, um, Gallinari wasn't like, as like, uh, as efficient.
So Chris, Paul really did how hold it down has some really big games when it mattered most.
Um, and this was I do think I would put, um I would This is definitely one what? I definitely would put him over.
Jamal Kemba and Trey.
Um, so, yeah, hey, could honestly be number six or number five and number six and number seven.
I was really, really tough with, though, because one of them had a great regular season, but not the best playoff, and one of them was really consistent throughout.
But I do have number six over number seven, and number six was The guy was actually traded for Chris Paul, and that was Russell Westbrook.
Um so Russell Westbrook at six.
My reason for this one is that Westbrook in the regular season, this might have been just because they traded away their center, but he was averaging 25 7 and seven incredible numbers.
He him and hard and despite small ball, really not working out.
I don't e I don't think I don't think the Rock is the duo didn't work out.
I just don't I think I don't think small ball really worked out against the Lakers, because I feel like maybe if you put them against the Clippers, they could have maybe even beating the Clippers.
But against the Lakers, with Anthony Davis and JaVale McGee, enjoy higher.
That didn't work.
But these Harden and Westbrook worked better than expected in the regular season, the two ball dominant guards.
But they actually found, um, ways to be a tough four seed.
I didn't think they would be a good regular season team, and maybe I didn't think they would be better in the playoffs this year because off what they did, like maybe I thought I was a firm believer in small ball.
I guess I really didn't work.
That Russell Westbrook was eventually on the winning team and he didn't even he didn't even play and some of us, some of the some of the deep perimeter defense was missing because Russell Westbrook is actually a really good perimeter defender.
And without Russell Westbrook they was.
Some of the perimeter defense was missing.
They don't they have those Covington and Tucker with Tucker was Really, um, I guess Tucker was kind of assigned to like the Big man, so some of the per murder defense was missing.
And maybe Westbrook might just be more fun to watch just because of him on the fast break.
And he did not have the best playoff performance.
He tendency to take bad shots.
He does it with Chris Paul having a really It was really good on the Chris Paul.
He's kind of coincidence.
Chris Paul was one of the best players at the elbow in Westbrook's one of the worst, but Chris Paul? Uh, there.
So I think, think Westbrook's is slightly better.
Defender the team with the better record they won in the Siri's.
It's close and plus Westbrook stats overall or better.
It is very close, so and he can do it in every way besides shooting, he can really do it in every way possible.
He's actually like it's if it might be if he, um it might be like when he's on the he's when he's driving to the basket.
He's one of the hardest players to guard in the NBA, so yeah, thank you, Patty.
Where, after during the broadcast, much appreciate it.
And it's honestly, if Westbrook could learn on. One thing is Thio.
Don't don't don't take the jumper in clutch situations.
I feel like he can really like because I feel like maybe even, I think, last year Westbrook was honestly better than this year's.
Westbrook of this year's Westbrook was still really good, so I put Westbrook at six, slightly ahead of Chris Paul, Jamal Murray, Kemba Walker and Trey Young.
But number five okay, Number five here is a guy that I would probably not even put in the I would.
I felt like what I saw and didn't see from him.
Put him in the number five spot, and a lot of people might get mad about this one because they criticizes game. Ah, lot.
However, he is one of he is super impactful on many on both ends of the floor and every aspect possible besides shooting.
And number five, I have Ben Simmons, I have been Simmons at five, slightly ahead of Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul.
So, yes, we do have Ben Simmons and Russell Westbrook to not good shooters at all.
Slightly out of Chris Paul, who is a good clutch shooter.
UH, math, not over CP three.
I do think just because of how the Celtics swept the Sixers without Ben Simmons, they really struggle that.
I feel like Ben Simmons.
He's in all defensive first team.
He even got, like, some defensive player of the year vote.
I I don't think he should have got some, but he he did all defensive.
First team led the league in steals.
He is one of the best play makers in the league.
Him and Joel Embiid.
Um, I also did see a sad, though, that he like on assisted like three pointers like him, like not being able to shoot in Philadelphia.
Not having many shooters at all like the um, how many assists led to three pointers in the league.
Ben Simmons was like number three.
So even with the team that not many shooters so that just tells you how good of the playmaker he is at the top of the key.
You're just driving to the basket and finding the open man.
And just because Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul yes, they can defend, But they're not a to a little worse defense and better shooting and playmaking.
Yes, better shooting and better playmaking if you want, but I do think that they are really similar.
If not, Ben Simmons is better of a playmaker just because of that simple stat and how he Chris Paul has a lot of weapons around him.
A swell? Yeah, and he gives you better shooting the I think the team I have been like slightly better.
I don't know that one of them is the five seed in the West.
One of them was succeed in the East, so I don't really know the record, but they were pretty much like the I feel like it.
Ben Simmons was on the Sixers in that first round.
I still do think that the Celtics would have won the Siri's, but Philly was six.
Yeah, I think it would be like six games because Ben Simmons ability to lock down guys like Jason like they've really struggled against Jayson Tatum, like it was so bad.
The Matisse table.
Try to contest him from the logo on Tatum Still hit it.
And they were really China.
Like they kind of struggled against Tatum.
So Ben Simmons would have been able toe, um, lock him down, out, like fully, but like he can.
He has the ability to do that.
He's really versatile.
Um, pity he is, um he is super dominant at every aspect.
But shooting and shooting is like, What's the main thing now? But it's, um but it's still he could do it at every aspect.
Defense as well.
Like he is one of the best perimeter offenders, if not be in the best in the NBA.
Okay, Number four Number four is a controversial one because this is a the toughest player.
This was the toughest player to rank.
I didn't know where to keep him because it was really hard. Thio.
I think he could be number four.
He couldn't play.
He plays sometimes like number three more number two.
But he sometimes like just how he's played the last couple of years.
He could get him lowered.
Um, we will definitely see where he ranks next season. This year.
He didn't play a lot, but in the games he played, he looked phenomenal.
He is still a one of the best offensive players.
One of the toughest players took guard one of the best shooters, one of the most clutch, arguably the best.
It probably the best handles.
And he might have been injured this year, but one healthy.
And I think really it wasn't to the biggest of injuries.
He is number four, maybe possibly number three.
But he comes in at four.
Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets.
Okay? And because when he is on the court, he is Supes.
It's hard to guard him when he's in his like Uncle Drew bag.
It's like you can't guard him.
He is a He is a champion.
He's one of the best second options there is.
One thing we've learned from him is that he's not a good leader, but he is one of the best second options there is.
So I'm also I also want to hear, um, your opinion on this one, so I'm just gonna get the Yeah.
Field What? Okay, Okay, so So Yeah.
So Kyrie comes in at four, because so we might well see what he is next year as the second option of Kevin Durant.
I think that will be a great potential finals team.
Um, he can drop 25.
He shoots like 38 to 40% from deep on the volume that he takes like he's.
That's one of the more underrated aspects of Cairo's game, if not the most underrated aspect off Cairo's game.
His shooting ability.
Um, he's not the best defender he is getting.
He's not a he's not a terrible defender, but I feel like offensively, hard to guard.
Can't really, um, doesn't have many off.
Um, he's fine there.
Yeah, I do think he is fine there because I feel like the top three this year.
In previous years, um, this year in previous years, then be the top three.
And number three is a guy that is a guy that I've always constantly had a debate with him in Kyrie.
However, these past couple of years, especially this season, I think I've really this season got my answer.
And then Yep, it is Dame dolla game dolla three.
I don't see how this is to arguable.
Um, yes, he did on Lee play five games in the playoffs, but he literally shot 40 like 2% from deep this year, which is he's the probably this third best shooter in the MBA right now behind Stefan Clay.
Um, Kyrie hasn't played in a while.
Damos literally is the most.
He's the might be the most clutch player in the n b a.
If I If I want, like a three pointer, I'm taking game or I'm taking stuff. Curry.
Um, and if I want a shot, I might even just take, like, game.
Honestly, because House clutch, he is, um, he is the leader of the Blazers.
You can't really deny that I feel like some other.
Some of the construction between the injury of Yusuf Nurkic really did take a toll on them this year.
Like the construction of the team.
Like the supporting cast like without use of Nurkic Zack Holmes like Rodney Hood.
Uh, Gary Trenton really emerged until the bubble assigned white side played fine, but he wasn't like the like.
He did kind of impact like the team, and he wasn't as good as use of nervous that really fit in as well as use of nor kids did.
Um, so they're supporting Cast was a really good and Plus they really dealt with a lot of injuries like Rodney Hood was injured.
Like this season, however, a game play, this part game was literally unstoppable.
You have just 30 points a game and seven assist with the injury Riddle team.
Efficiency, ridiculous shooting splits.
It was a tough I honestly, the way he played in the bubbly could have been Number two.
However, I couldn't really do it.
The Blazers do any defense.
That is one thing I really hope they address during the off season.
All right, so number two and number two and number one have a big rivalry.
I'll just say that, Um, and number two is Stephan Curry.
Stefan Curry and Demon Learned obviously had a similar place down there.
Both, like two of the best shooters in the league all time, Um, both can shoot from anywhere like from half court.
Just my biggest thing is that Wednesday Steph Curry, when is healthy, he is.
He has been better in the playoffs and plus when they matched up in the playoffs in the 2000 and 19 playoffs, the Warriors swept the Blazers in the conference finals.
They are very, very close.
However, I feel like just maybe the maybe the injury didn't play a part and why people are saying Game is overstaffed, but I feel like even it was on the non dominant hand anyway.
Staff is probably gonna He's gonna come back and he's gonna be great next year.
So I do have him over a game and then at number one, finally coming in at number one is a guy that you might not classify as a point guard.
He is a point guard on basketball reference.
He played point guard for the finals and most of the season and is a champion and some most players.
People say after the championship that he's the best player in the world and a top two player of all time.
In my opinion, LeBron James, Um, I don't really have too much to say here.
LeBron literally was second and M v P voting led the league in assist and a champion of finals.
I don't really see.
I don't really see Michael is the goat.
Yeah, but I don't really see how he's not the best point.
Guard, I mean, are usually what I think.
The best point guard in the N B A.
I think Steph Curry.
But LeBron played point guard most of this year, and one guy also could include Here's Luca Dante's, but he will be on another position. A list.
And that's gonna be if my top 10 point guards just to recap honorable mentions, do go out of Darin Fox.
Kyle, Larry, John Marine on Malcolm Brogden.
Once again, number 10 was Trae Young.
Number nine was Kemba Walker.
Number eight was Jamal Murray.
Number seven was Chris Paul.
Number six was Russell Westbrook.
Number five was Ben Simmons.
Number four was Kyrie Irving.
Number three was Damian lower number two and Steph Curry.
Number one is LeBron James.
Um, why was I was thinking to the heat? Because, um this Isaac Edelman is really I I all these heat players, so hopefully if he sees this, hopefully you won't get to mother.
Goran Dragic isn't even.
Are we mentioned? So yeah, That's, um thank you guys.
So much for watching Mawr of these will come up soon.
This is my list.
This is probably not the perfect list.
There's always some as Marcus Smart and the goat said a lot of stuff.
That why? I mean, his opinions in I'm not, um I'm not mad at those opinions, and I think there respected opinions as well.
So, um yeah, it's could be a chance.
I will see you on Sunday for my 15th edition spoken Sunday.
