Um, so we are live on Sports Caster and those of you who don't know this is also my SportsCastr, uh, podcast that is brought out to all the major publications it is featured on Spotify.
So don't forget to check it out there as well.
So let's get to know a little bit about the Detroit Lions going into this season.
I actually had high expectations out of Detroit.
I thought they were going to end up being second in their division, right? Right behind Green Bay.
I loved everything that Detroit for once did.
At least it seemed like to me to, like, try to put some help around Matthew Stafford, right? Get him a little bit.
I love the swift.
I love the the additions of a couple offensive lineman.
Just got him some protection.
Got him some weapons.
And yet, right now, they're not uh, second in their division.
So, really, what was your expectations walking in into this season? And, um, what's happened to those expectations? Well, as a lot of things, I have no expectations at this point, but always optimistic.
Uh, like what they did with a couple of picks in the draft.
Swift was probably my favorite pick.
Well, Jonah Jackson is my favorite pick.
Then probably swift, Um, pretty much.
I mean, Chicago game, I think, turned it around, turned it the other way.
A lot of injuries to the defensive backfield.
And, you know, just, you know, you think about the teams that are usually good New England, Green Bay.
So you pretty much knew that those teams will probably get off to a hot start because, you know, with the kind of irregular off season, you know, the good teams or the good organizations were pretty much on still be at the top.
So, um, I kind of figured it.
It takes some time, but right now it's just really the lack of speed on offensive Stafford.
I mean, 12 year, no gala day early on, that also heard as well.
I think he pretty much proved his worth missing, like, I think, the first three or four games he missed when he came back.
And the biggest thing offensively, it's just that he wasn't there.
That's the biggest.
He wasn't there.
And now you kind of see a trickle effect effect of Now you make Marvin number one, see if it's number two Danny Amendola slot.
It kinda not have your number one receiver there.
He kind of proved how much he was work to that organization.
And then you look at it.
The offensive coordinator just doesn't really like tight ends.
You spend money on Jesse James, you bring ****stan in, Um, he's made a tremendous jump.
It's just he doesn't get the targets and then the running back.
Ty Johnson put him on the cross stuff while he leaves.
And then Huntley he get cut.
I mean, the Philadelphia bring him up, and then Peterson becomes your number one back.
So, um, offensively, it just It just doesn't seem like they didn't have gallery.
And when they got him to kind of pick back up and then offensively, defensively, it's just it's not the personnel is the scheme And now the last few weeks they've been pressuring, they've been playing zone.
They've been, you know, disguising their defense and really went from the Jackson like Mr Jacks. They injured.
They wasn't the same Jackson.
They played two guys first week one.
They was fully healthy.
I think 17 drafted players this year on their roster when we played them.
And then it's just pretty much the defensive scheme.
I think Matt Patricia, give it to court.
Yulan, who came from Philadelphia, and he kind of been able to have his imprint, They playing Zone man Zone blitz and they drop in defensive lineman toe to cover.
So now I think you telling ****ing up the defense, It's like people are, you know, the defensive players got a little pep in the step, so you know, we might have Coleman back this week in the slot.
So I mean, the rookies is just have It's hard to have expectation with no offseason Lakota.
He kinda ain't been that, but it takes a couple of years to become, I mean, a Revis or, you know, a guy like that.
So it's pretty much been the last two weeks.
Great defensively, they've been playing well.
I think this week is a litmus test.
I think you guys are step up from the Jags and from the Atlanta Falcons, even though they won last night.
So I just need creativity defensively.
It's not about the guys going again.
Special teams they gotta officer coordinator from, especially in coordinate from the Bangles.
And that's been the best side of the ball all year.
Special teams for us.
So they've been doing well.
Um, yeah, Having Kenny Golladay back is a huge bonus.
But does that help? TJ Hawkinson Hopkinson is somebody who I thought was going to come out and just like the NFL on fire.
And, um, there's been some question marks about him.
What are your thoughts? Do you think that Hawkinson could make a big impact in this game against the Indianapolis Colts? Well, first, the issue is not with him.
He made the jump.
I mean, physically, it's just that Darrell Bevell just historically doesn't give the tight ends the opportunities because they have James and then they have Hawkinson and James is pretty good in Pittsburgh.
So he's made that jump is just that.
I mean, if you look at what Pittsburgh did last week against Tennessee.
Jews have 15 targets, and the guy from Toledo, Deontay Johnson, had 15 targets in Detroit is six targets.
It's maybe five or six Hawkinson five.
Thio, Amendola, five or six to Marvin Jones and maybe a few out the backfield.
But DeAndre Swift is his team's second leading receiver, so and he ain't been full time.
So it was basically, you know, it's an equal opportunity often, so you don't really abuse your primary weapons.
If he was in Green Bay, he would probably be considered the best tight end this year.
I mean, if he was in Tampa, he just Darrell Bevell doesn't really abuses tight ends and or abuse his weapons, But, um, he's phenomenal, but the difference is it depends.
Um, the skin you guys player, various letter is gonna be checking him.
I think he's one of the probably, you know, best linebackers in football, and you know he's coming back from a groin injury.
So, um, the opportunity is there.
Hawkinson legitimately should have like, you don't think I'm joking.
Each had, like 60 receptions this year already.
It's just that we don't utilize them.
You know how we should, but Yeah, I I I agree.
I love what Hawkinson brings to the table.
But the fact that Matt Stafford really kinda, um, evens the playing field like what you're saying, you know, five here, five here, five here.
Everybody gets the ball.
That makes it very difficult for a defense to hone in on one specific player.
And right now, the Colts have the number one pass defense in the NFL.
So, um, that that's gonna bring even more pressure on that uber fluke's defense here in Indianapolis because they can't focus on taking away one guy or two guys from your passing game.
Because Stafford is so good, it just dishing the ball out to everybody and Golladay is that big time threat.
So, uh, if you were playing against Detroit and you had two players that you absolutely had to shut down in the game, who would it be? Gala day and be funny, Swift.
I mean, I switched with Haakenson.
I mean, it's just that he has the potential Thio go off.
I mean, you see what he did vs Arizona last year.
That potential is always there.
But, um, you know, gallery and Swift kind of provides, um, vertical.
Everybody else is pretty slow.
Marvin Jones is kind of slow down through the years, and Amendola has never really been a burner.
So, um, but those are two guys.
I mean, you can't stop Stafford because he's 11th man.
So, um, so he's the He's those two primary to weapons.
But I mean, Stafford is sneaky with his athleticism to I mean, ever since he cut the baby way down, he you know, he could run for some first downs and, you know, he could make some things happen outside the pocket as well, too.
So there's a lot of a lot of talk with trade trade deadline coming up, and I cannot tell you.
Like I said, I work for SportsCastr.
There's about six of us to cover six different teams, and we see articles about different people possibly getting traded all the time and every once in a while, and it seems like this happens every year for the last couple of years.
Matthew Stafford's name comes up right, and we're like, I'm looking at it going well Detroit would be absolutely stupid to get rid of, you know, Matt Stafford.
But do you think there's any any, any even slight inkling that that could be a possibility? No, not right now.
I think Quinn and Patricia playing for their jobs.
So, um, that's the case.
But, you know, maybe next season he sold his house here.
Um, and also, he has no more guaranteed money passed this year.
So it's either you're gonna pay them or, you know, maybe he retires.
I mean, I don't really see him playing nowhere else I would name to me.
It seems like Matt Stafford is one of those quarterbacks.
I mean, he doesn't get the love that he should.
I think from ah, lot of NFL fans and media alike because he's just one of those guys that can just put a team on his shoulders and will them in the game.
So, you know, I've always I've always liked.
I liked Stafford ever since his rookie season in that game against Chicago, when he threw that winning touchdown with a dislocated shoulder when he came back.
Yeah, you're right. Yeah.
Yeah, that was That was an amazing.
Was like, Are you kidding me? You know, when that happened, we kind of put you in the mind of, uh, even these guys made to the Super Bowl.
But Julio and Larry Fitzgerald, I mean, kind of like Randy Moss in and the Raiders, and you put him with Tom Brady.
And now, I mean, we know where Randy Moss plus in Minnesota.
But now you put them Tom Brady.
So if you just think you know Matthew Stafford in New England organization or you put them in this I mean, if you guys have Matthew Stafford, you probably wouldn't lost the game this year.
To be honest, I can't disagree with you.
There's there's a few things that the Colts I mean, the Colts have done well in building a team over the last three years.
The only thing that they haven't had is a quarterback Ever since Andrew Luck has retired, it's it's a shame that he retired just as the Colts came into their own and became ah Mawr complete team.
Um, Desmond Trufant, inner out.
Do you think I would play? It came up today.
I'll tell you right now, because one of my friends.
He sent it to me.
So I'm gonna tell you right now, I think he might have been out if my memory serves me correctly.
But last I knew he was questionable, so I didn't know.
So it's on the Detroit line.
So it says that he's questionable, but he was limited on Friday.
I would go ahead and just side with I was side that he's probably gonna be out.
Eso So you're expecting a Cuda toe? Hold down the fort on the outside.
Uh, it depends of Justin Coleman. Come back.
That could slide him to nickel.
And if Okuda can kind of rotate with Darryl Roberts s O if Coleman plays you, probably Coleman a slide Nakoula kind of rotating, probably with Mike Ford or Darryll Roberts as well, too.
So it's kind of rotation.
Excuse me? Um, you got some people.
I mean, let's face it, Um ah, lot of a lot of fans and media kind of call Detroit, as of right now, the Detroit Patriots, because so many people are brought in from the Patriots organization.
I wanna kinda focus a little bit on Jamie Collins and Trey Flowers.
How are they working out for Detroit right now? Trey Flowers had a really good game vs Arizona and they played a little bit more zone in that game.
He was tremendous.
But outside of that game, it just really ain't been clicking.
But flowers at his best games last Sunday and he broke up the past.
Um and it's just those two guys are, you know, I think the more they create creative with the defense, the better those guys are gonna be in Romeo Court has been fantastic as well to put them in there.
Alright, Alright, Alright.
Um, any questions about Indianapolis that you have the, you know, from past to present? I got a lot of questions.
E Just wanna understand why it doesn't work with Philip Rivers in, uh, T y Hilton.
I just I can understand that his arm might not be there, but t walking cuts quick slants and, you know, screens.
Just they really haven't really connect.
I think Paris Campbell was more of this guy before he went out.
See, I get this question every week from my guests and all.
It's a very simple explanation.
T y Hilton runs routes a lot differently than most other wide receivers when he takes off on a route, depending upon how the cornerback is playing him, whether he's playing him, uh, up close and physical or off back, he will run a route the way he wants to in order to get to the open spot on the field.
And that takes, ah, quarterback, especially a new quarterback, new to the system and new to T.
Ah while to get used.
Thio being in sync with him to know when and where his brakes are gonna happen.
Whereas a lot of quarterbacks are like wide receivers have to have to make this be at this point at this time on this route every time.
And he was not like that.
You know, t wise more of ah, hey, kind of free wills it when he's out there a little bit.
Hey still runs this route, but sometimes it's a little bit off than what he normally does.
So I think that kind of throws Philip Rivers off a little bit.
I think it will come in.
It's slowly coming into effect.
The last game that they played two weeks ago.
Rivers hit T y a couple times.
Um, and it looked pretty good.
He t why did have a drop? Um, but the longer they play together, I think the mawr connections you'll see between the two guys, whereas, um, like Marcus Johnson and Zac Paschal and and and guys like that, they're mawr of Ah, um, you're running around as as if cones air set up right on the field.
Whereas t y doesn't do that.
It's different from Keenan Allen because he's more where he came from.
A timing pattern, right runner in and out, his brakes.
He might be the best route running in football.
I mean, maybe him and Hopkins, But also are there any I know? Philip Rivers? Just seven touchdown.
Six interceptions around 15 1600 yards.
Is it any any kind of talk about Jacoby percent getting in there in Indianapolis? No, no, no.
You figure of those six interceptions.
Two of those were kept balls.
Um, where they just went right through the hands, or, like, hit like dead numbers and it went up in the air.
The only issue, really the interceptions isn't that big of a deal.
He's cut him down over the last three games.
The biggest deal is his red zone numbers.
Those are the big problem where he does not seem to be able to punch that ball in in the red zone very well.
And it's really been hampering the Internet was called offense, Uh, in that aspect, this is This is why the Colts don't seem to score, UH, 27 30 points a game.
They, even though they do have the yardage overall, they just can't seem to get that ball in there.
And they're settling for field goals way too much.
How is the thirst? But they're doing over there.
Who? The force? Buckner.
Oh, yeah, the Force Buckner do Right now. He might be.
I think it's between him and Xavier Rhodes, and I'm sure you know Xavier Rhodes quite well, too, because division These guys came into Indianapolis and are playing at all pro level right now.
Um, the Force Butler does not have the *** that you would expect from the, you know, Number one pick and and you know that big contract.
But he's a defensive tackle.
He's a three tech and his job mainly is to get pressure up the middle and, uh, create problems, make make a quarterback adjust on his throw, make a running back of justice.
His his running route.
Because when he gets the ball and you see Buckner right there, you gotta move on.
He's doing that.
He's getting the penetration, that offensive line penetration right now, I I honestly believe that he is playing the second best defensive tackle in football right now, along with Xavier Rhodes.
Probably Xavier Rhodes, I think, is playing at an all Pro level as well, uh, coming in from the Minnesota Vikings.
He is an absolute stud so far, locking down, um, receivers left and right.
I think he's giving up an average of something like a 36 quarterback rating so far this year, and they gave up on him, and I'm guessing he was injured last year.
I had to be some type of injury.
He Minnesota Yeah, in the last two years in Minnesota, he he played well the first three or four weeks of the last couple of years in Minnesota and then he would get hurt and because they had no depth, they played him hurt so we could not get healthy When I say hurt, I mean like hamstring injury, calf injury, ankle injury, stuff that has to do with your speed and your breaking ability and stuff like that and things that are very important to a corner to be able to cover.
And so he, since he wasn't able Thio get healthy on that and they kept him on the field playing his.
His productivity went way down and for Indianapolis, he's been healthy 100% and it's just been an absolute stud.
So are you guys ready to give up on the lead hooker? He's pretty good.
When he helped you go, that's an interesting question.
There's a lot of fans who are ready to just say Let him go.
We have Julian Blackmon.
You know, the rookie that we got this year, Julian Blackmon, has been a stud as well, and, um, not just being able to, uh, make free safety plays on the ball deep down the field, but he plays with the physicality you don't normally see from a free safety, right? Um, much to the style of a toy. Polamalu.
I'm not saying they're equal and talent.
I'm just saying that kind of play style, you know? So Malik Hooker there is a good possibility.
I mean, he was not, hey was not offered 1/5 year option, so there's a good possibility Malik Hooker might be a free agent at the end of this year.
He's just never helped him. Exactly.
That's the problem.
And, I mean, he didn't really have us that year that Bob Sanders had where he I think he was the M V P. One year for the Colts.
Hey, was defense defensive defensive player of the year e think Malik Hooker probably gonna have that one good season and then that injuries just might take a while.
But he's really good, you know, the way he turns his hips and breaks on the ball.
I mean, I didn't think Indianapolis would be better than Houston this year.
I thought you would kind of be right there with Houston, but I mean, just I mean, DeAndre happens.
Losses just like I mean, they got the highest payroll in football as well.
I also think that it had a lot to do with with Houston.
I believe Houston has a lot to do with.
They just wanted, uh, O Brien out.
I don't think they were playing to their best ability the first four weeks until O'Brien left.
And then now that o Brian's gone, there's a good possibility that you might actually see this Houston, Texas team turned around and become a very good team.
I got a lot of people here and chat right now.
Uh, high octane ****ysis says No, sir.
We need to keep Malik Hooker.
Ah, lot of other player, uh, Devin a.
Atherton is talking about He believes that Malik Hooker is history for the Colts.
Um, they also want to bring up something.
Ah, lot of people forget, you know, Marla Max on this team, but he got hurt Week one, and there's questions on whether he'll be on this team as well.
Um, just because we have Jonathan Taylor now.
But some people believe that if Marlon Mack and Malik Hooker both are willing to take a pay cut, you know, ah, lower contract like approve it deal.
Then there's a good possibility they may return.
I could see Marlon Mack returning.
It's not really a market for running backs right now.
I think Ezekiel Elliott kind of hurt, You know, guys getting paid.
I mean, say Kwan, I know Africa.
Mark got his money, but Ezekiel Elliott really hurt.
Hurt it. I mean, lady in as well.
So I like Marlon Mack.
The identity that your coaches is.
What's his name is the head coach Frank.
Frank, right? I want to get it right.
Hey, changed the mentality.
I think he was what I thought Chuck McConnell would have did in Indianapolis.
But Vigano kept drafting receivers and him.
It wasn't Chris Ballard.
They kept drafting receivers.
And just and it was Ryan Giggs and Brian Gregson and Chuck Pagano.
Chris Ballard is with Frank Reich.
Yeah, okay, do other GM.
He just you know.
And now you see, with this, they got defense, They stopped the run, and now they're Clinton.
You guys are asleep with Marlon Mack.
Last year, you guys had an outdoor mentality, so you could take that offense.
And, you know, you could run the ball with Marlon Mack.
I think Marlon Mack and Jonathan Taylor will complement each other.
That was my number one back coming to the draft.
Jonathan Taylor, you know, a lot of people thought he had too much tread in Wisconsin, but he's a He's a terrific back.
Well, one thing that was really worrying about Jonathan Taylor coming in to the NFL was the fact that he had 18 fumbles in three years.
And he has yet to fumble the football for the Colts.
So having running backs coach Tom Brafman, former full back for the San Francisco 40 Niners as your head coach, has paid massive dividends on him when it came to ball control, Um, Jonathan Taylor still has a little bit of catching up to do NFL speed wise.
Um, he doesn't, uh, he has a problem early on in the season he had a problem with waiting for because the Colts use a lot of zone blocking schemes, and sometimes that takes a moment for toe develop in front of him, and he had to learn patience for those holes to develop behind the line.
Um, but Jonathan Taylor has been doing a lot better this year.
Marlon Max just a beast and has been teaching Jonathan Taylor even though he's not out there on the field with him.
Hey, just got that have an interview not earlier this week, actually, and said that Marlon Mack is been in the film rooms with him actually breaking down plays and telling him what would be the best thing he thinks would be best for Jonathan Taylor to do in specific situations with his talents.
So that's always nice to have when you've got players that could do that with with one another.
I like your back or running back to 19 times as well.
I like coming out of college.
Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, he minds is a is a great change of pace back, Great change of pace back and a good receiver out of the backfield.
Excellent receiver out of the backfield.
Um, So what is your biggest surprise from Detroit this year that Patricia changed it up.
That's my biggest surprise.
That he was the guy that played man in prevent defense ing.
Now he's like, he's like utility.
Really? Open it up.
I mean, he got threatened by the owner so he would have to get they lost Jack. He was gonna be fired.
She showed up for practice, and, you know, she pushed the right button.
And now he's They get creative, you know, They Blitzen, they studying.
They mean they get very, very creative in Detroit.
That's my That's my biggest surprise.
It's the creativity of the defense the last two weeks.
Oh, that's that's interesting.
Um, because I mean, honestly, I don't I don't really think of Detroit as being, ah creative defensive team.
Even though you have a you know, head coach wise, it just it doesn't really spark with me.
When I think of Detroit Lions, I generally think of the offense and secondary.
I usually think, Hey, you know, they usually have a secondary there.
Now, obviously, you've switched up a few things when it comes toe your secondary players over the last couple years.
But I still think that you still have that talent there, especially with the addition of a Cuda.
And you know so all right, uh, anything you wanna bring up between about this game Oh, yeah.
I want you guys to pay attention to our number one corner Armani rocker.
Yeah, he's perhaps the best player this year from week one here.
I mean, he's truly a he's truly are, are locked down corner E mean they thought of Cooler was gonna come in and him and true found the book ending.
But Amani is, is truly he's ranked.
At one point, he was 18 out of how many quarterbacks in football, and he's really, really good.
Uh, kinda reminds you of a cooler.
Both Big 10 guys.
He only played one year started.
One European state.
Amazing ball skills.
He's what, six too long? Arms? Um, he's He's probably really, really good.
Uh, really good cornerback.
And and the other guy that's in the defense, our safety Tracy Walker.
Now they're blitzing them. He can creative.
Those are probably two of our best defensive players this year, just on consistency.
And you know those guys and offensively, it's just, you know, really, you just marvel at what gal Adam and Matthew Stafford can do.
Uh, he had amazing catch last week on what? The five yard line to win the game and Stafford just through an absolute bullet.
And, you know, he didn't drop it, you know, He just you know, you lose Megatron, you bring Marvin in, and then your draft gallery in the third round, and you know he develops and you like he's a good player.
He's a really good player.
So and also our office of line.
You gotta give him credit.
Jonah Jackson came here from Ohio State, done a wonderful job, and I got to say about Quit Nelson for y'all.
He is a guy that I'm taking on my team.
It was he from Notre Dame, right? Nasty.
And then you got to say, Anthony Kalonzo Castonzo.
I don't think he was a left tackle in this league.
I mean, he's been there for, like, sheesh not to be at least 10 years now.
The Boston College.
He's a He's been doing really well there as well to over the last few years.
Um, so the additions that the Lions did for the offensive line they they have worked out this year.
Oh, yeah. I mean, yeah.
I mean, one of the biggest moves where they move high tide out of the Eagles.
He was injured with a foot injury a few weeks as well.
He came in and moved to guard, and they finally started to really Crosby and Frank Rock.
And I was just he didn't give up a sacking college, so he came in. He's done well.
And Johnny Jackson.
He's played left guard, right guard.
And Taylor Decker got paid, and he's on the injury report as well this week.
He may miss Sunday, So, uh, they've done well.
Well, I think that somebody asked in the comments section.
The Coast offensive line is pride better than ours.
But ours is kind of coming together.
They kind of get that camaraderie now.
Uh, Devin Atherton, I hope this is not an interception field game for both teams.
I'm just gonna say that right now.
I'd like to see a nice, clean game for once.
Uh, just, uh, just straight.
Honestly, Uh, see, uh, Rivers have had two games this year with without an interception, and that's it.
I don't want to see that.
I don't want to see.
And to be honest, um, I don't think a Detroit fan wants to see Matt Stafford out there throwing picks either.
So I'm not sure how many picks he got this year.
He had one in Chicago that kind of turned the game around and they got field position on us.
And that is just a game.
If you look well before and to instead of what, three and three right now that was a game back.
Sheesh! We just went with you.
What's your What's your strength on defense? Run defense or pass defense? Now? Uh, To be honest, the last two weeks have been really both the front and the back end.
But just this year is with creativity is kind of both without, it's just it's really Harari.
He's the only strength that's consistently they've been playing.
Is now that they just changing it up.
It's just, you know, everybody's playing well behind E.
I was wondering because the culture identity, they want to run the football and control the clock, and if they're able to do that, they usually lean on that with their defense.
Uh, does Detroit have what it takes to handle the Colts offensive line and the power and speed run of Jonathan Taylor in order to get them on third and long situations The last two weeks? Yeah, verse, the Falcons and after the by and the Jags and the Falcons.
So I mean, if you ask me outside of Arizona game in those two games, no.
But if they kind of are creative and, you know, committing guys to the box, Then then, yeah.
You see, Danny Shell is playing better.
Um, a linebackers air flowing better.
So it's really a test for us.
This is, like, really that game.
That's a Jags falcons.
And now the coat.
So it's they have they have the potential, but the line is really good for you guys like Okay, um, defensive scheme wise when it comes to pass pass defense.
Um, does your cornerbacks follow receivers or do they stick to one side of the field? Uh, Jeff Hokuto was following.
I don't know what the point was trying to prove because he was getting beat Bad because we was missing are to nickel backs.
We was at one point, we were missing.
Uh, Darryll Roberts and Coleman got injured in week one, and he was following DeAndre Hopkins everywhere.
He made a pick, but he was getting abused.
But But the last two weeks they've been playing cover to I mean, they've been playing coverage, but if anybody do follow, it's pretty cool to play.
He was following, but it's pretty much they stay on each side.
All right, that's kind of similar to what the Colts do.
They generally just because, I mean, they play a lot of cover to cover three zone defense, so they don't really stick with one player or another.
So, yeah, I I understand that now.
I mean, obviously there is, uh, there's matchups that that you want to take advantage of.
Um, I would say that if the colts wow, see, it's kind of interesting because, um, like with Indianapolis, Xavier Rhodes is mawr of ah ah, follow you use his speed and athleticism and long arms in orderto break in and make a play on the ball.
Whereas, uh, the other corner colts have rockets in on the outside.
He's more of, ah, physical man corner who can get up into you, um, bust you off your route, you know, make you very uncomfortable as the balls in the air type of corner.
So, um, uh, I don't I don't know too much on whether or not you will see a lot of man coverage with Indianapolis tonight, but or not tonight.
But this Sunday at one o'clock, but that expect that from both of those guys, that's that's that's That's their style of play.
Uh, gala day knows Xavier Wells rose really well, so that's that'll be.
I think he probably followed.
He has followed gala day.
I think at some point in critical moments, he'll follow him.
Yeah, one person, I think that you ought to pay attention to.
Um, that is not a very well known player in the NFL that the courts have.
Is Kenny more the second? He is our nickel corner.
Uh, he's the highest paid nickel corner in the NFL, and there's a reason why he is that he's a very hard worker.
He he, um he's very quick, makes very good decisions and has and has got really, really good closing speed.
So I think that if he's put on Amendola, I just I honestly don't think Amendola is going to get a lot of a lot of catches in this game.
He has got hey, hasn't got any all year e.
I mean, he dropped the critical first nine versus last week to Atlanta.
I don't think Stafford went back to him, but another thing that you gotta watch out for Kenny more is he is known to be sent on blitzes like, out of nowhere, and he hides it very well.
You won't know he's blitzing until that ball is snapped.
And I know that Stafford is a big guy and can shrug tackles off.
But when you're hit by someone and not expecting it, not seeing it coming it doesn't matter how big you are.
You will go down, you know? So, uh, just something Toto watch out for Kenny.
More is somebody who is a big playmaker.
Um, that the Colts know quite quite a well you was talking about.
You're cornerback being a guy we need to watch out for.
Is there another player that you think on this team? That probably does not get enough recognition that maybe the Colts might be want.
Want to watch out for in this game? Uh, yeah, Tracy Walker is one of those guys defensively, Romeo Chorus.
One of those guys are defensive end.
His brother's got drafted this year, but he, uh, I guess he wasn't ready.
Broke his leg and Notre Dame, but one of the other guys that you know, he don't get a lot of burn, but he has always has that one play.
There's a Marvin Hall are back of receiver.
He's fired, are fascist, receiver other, maybe him and Agnew.
He always in that nickel.
And they run a play where maybe they play action.
Or you think that they're gonna hand the ball off or, you know, maybe they look into gala day and he gets behind that defense every time.
And him and staffer have really good report on Deep Boss, but they just don't play him.
I mean, he plays in critical moments, but he's a guy that, you know.
If Kenny more blitzes or he misses him off the line, he could be gone like that.
And him and Stafford, it's just like he handing the ball off to him.
All right, All right.
Um, Well, we're about 40 minutes into this, and I was thinking possibly unless you've got some other points you wanna bring up.
I was thinking about maybe giving our thoughts on the game, how we think it might end up going and who we got winning this game.
So I'll go with you first.
It's alright if you'll call me a Dominican, so I get it all the time.
I worked in um, at four field for many years and I was in college.
So hey, had a question.
I wanna ask them questions said, Do the lion's move the number one corner around and, uh, they only seeing them move or cooler around? So if the Nickelback is not playing well, they injured, they will move a cooler around.
But Armani stays on the rice on the right or the left side.
So hey, I mean, Darius Slay used to follow around, you know, and we missed.
He was one of my favorite players, but obviously about the game, just I think it's gonna come down two turnovers and takeaways.
Um, I think this is a game for us personally, that if we lose this game and there are a nice percentage, the fans that want to lose this game because they don't want Bob pointed Matt Patricia to go on that Patriot fire sale because the Patriots of trading everybody and they don't want them to give up those early round picks where you know, next year we didn't take tool, we didn't take Herbert.
This year, we took a cooler, and he kinda it takes some time, so I personally get tired of seeing the Lions loose.
So I want them to win every game.
But I think this is a game that that's winnable for us because we at home there will be some family and friends here for the first time.
And, you know, I just think Philip Rivers without Paris Campbell Um I just think we got a chance to get him, Um, Jonathan Taylor he can.
I think he might have a big game if we don't come, come toe play gap, this one and tackle.
But, um really what we want to do is, you know, pretty much put you guys in third and long, not let Taylor be a factor.
And, you know, personal for you guys dependent Coleman player, Not.
I mean, this might be the game where t y kind of breaks out because, you know, you know Akula has been really hit or miss.
You know, the speed of the game is just a little bit too fast for him, so you know it may happen, but defensively, for us, it's just really putting you guys in the situation in third and long and stopping Taylor and offensively, I really think staffer is gonna pick on that Xavier Rhodes match up.
I mean, he did it last year.
We had a shootout with them at four field with her cousins, and I think you're gonna look the look for Kenny Gallery a little bit more.
But, um, really, I think it's a situation where it's your second corner of Marvin Jones.
You know, that's the kind of matchup that I'm looking at.
And he hasn't really created that separation this year.
So, um, staff were trying to force him the ball that pick Heathrow in Chicago.
That was to Marvin Jones, too.
So it would be a good game.
You want to believe in patrician in a youling and a scheme.
And, you know, hopefully Darrell Bevell can kind of find that that that rhythm he was in last year before staff we got injured, but I think we went by field goal.
I think I said 27 24 on the Layfield going.
I know Fanduel has Indianapolis 2.
5 point favor, so I think we covered that with a field goal in the game.
I will agree that I think the Indianapolis cultures didn't want to come in and try to establish themselves and run the football on.
It will be critical for Indianapolis not to find themselves in third along on multiple occasions in this game.
Um, I am comfortable with Rivers.
Happen to throw the ball 30 35 times a game, but not more than that.
I don't want to see him like he had to against against, uh, Cincinnati falling behind 21.
Nothing in the first quarter, basically, and then have to put the team on his back.
That's not that's not something you want to do against the Detroit Lions.
Um, I think this is Ah, really high twenties Game is Well, I I just I don't think that this is a game where either team is going to get a lot of 20 plus air yard passes.
I think both these teams are gonna be good about keeping the big plays down and keeping things in front of them, and it could come down to a turnover or two.
I don't want to see it, but I think whichever team does not turn the ball over as much as the other ends up winning this football game.
So, um, I think both teams have the ability to score quickly when needed.
So I don't think time of possession is gonna be that big of a deal either.
I mean, obviously last week we saw the Colts, uh, erase a 21 point deficit, uh, in in short time.
And then, of course, Detroit Onley needed a minute.
Less than a minute and a half toe toe.
Win a football game, right? So, um no.
See, Brian says he thinks it will be a close game.
He's got it 24 17.
I'm going to call it 25 23.
It's gonna be an interesting game.
I think it's gonna be a It's gonna be a dink and dunk type of game.
I think turnovers and it is not Turnover is gonna be 20 plus explosive plays.
Down, down, down the field is gonna be Jonathan Taylor running.
Well, be nice to see Taylor Swift kind of going against each other, being rookies.
That would be an interesting game to actually see 22 rookie running backs having ah, good game.
You know, Adrian Peterson is on the injury report as well.
So you might see for a dose of Of Swift.
He has ah, ab ab ab issue abdomen.
Yeah, so he would He practiced Friday, but yeah, we have both Scarborough.
Also, he's supposed to be playing at some point.
I just saw your tackle Taylor Decker.
Yeah, he didn't even practice Friday.
So what would happen is crafty.
Would goto left high Tide will go to right tackle when Joe Dad will go to either.
Right? Well, he was probably on the right guard.
All right, so that's pretty much gonna happen.
Are we have an issue as well? On the line are center Ryan.
Kelly is questionable for the game.
He did not practice today either.
And if that happens, there's a good chance to either Jake Elden cramp or our rookie Danny Pinter ends up starting, and, uh, it's got to be better off than than when are left.
Tackle went down.
I think our guards and centers are much better than what our backup tackles are at this point in in this season.
So, um Well, good luck to you.
Not too much luck, but I hope you enjoy the game and tell everybody again where they could find you all.
