All right, let's officially kick off the sports caster news, eh? NBA without a more indirect and Matt Brooks on a Thursday morning.
How are you, sir? Good. I'm good.
I'm excited for today's segment.
Uh, we're just kind of waiting for Cem.
Cem. Bigger N b a news.
But that doesn't mean we don't have anything to talk about because the NBA is always rolling.
We could we obviously, you and I talked on Tuesday about where the MBA stand in terms of schedule, and we have some back end stuff that we can get into later on.
But the first the first thing on everybody's mind is, of course, and you already dove in a little bit on the first batch, which kind of got out there immediately was Brooklyn Nets City edition jerseys.
Looks like these ones in particular tradition fired.
You go but bang out.
Inspired by supposedly inspired by one of Kevin Durant's favorite artists, we kind of know from Brooklyn stamp evolution of their jerseys coming from the biggie inspired jerseys.
Now you got your superstar so they get their imprints on them.
You deep dove on this.
But just your initial take was your fan of these latest editions.
I'm a fan, and I actually tease this at the beginning of yesterday's broadcast and kind of, like, teed it up for me to, like, kind of hit a nice concluding put a bow on everything and completely forgot to give the conclusion at the very end because I got so carried away with this.
So let me just say this, um the I'll look at these transitions, these air Magnificent.
So these air, obviously, like I call these the Katie jerseys.
These are the Katie jerseys.
It's an artist. He really likes the throwbacks.
You have to remember Kyrie from Jersey grew up.
You know, maybe he wasn't there during those nineties.
It wasn't really there like at 1990 when those jerseys were plated.
But yeah, at least saw them growing up.
And they were about that time when he was really, you know, growing up as a kid.
So you have these jerseys for Katie, the throwbacks for Kyrie.
See, where I'm going with on making sure these for their stars, because if so, like, I kind of like Katie's vision.
I also kind of like what Tyree's do it like.
They refused to do throwbacks until Kyrie Irving joined this teeth.
So say what you want, but like, it's pretty cool that they're actually like that.
These guys and I don't know, this is such a huge assumption that it might just be the team themselves, like the team that, like the Nets themselves, making this assumption on do this on their own.
But, hey, it's like these guys, they're starting to spearhead a little bit of this.
This is awesome because a more experimentation is always good.
And I think this is a really dope concept, just making it look kind of like a canvas and like, really going with the paint thing I get why people don't like the fought and stuff like that.
I kind of think it looks kind of, you know, just basically like a signature and paint, Um, but be also doing the throwbacks and, like really getting the Nets to tap into their roots, which is something they have done.
An absolutely horrible job of until this year, like horrible since they moved to Brooklyn is were to think about like because I'm on a Jersey guy and grew up with the like, the New Jersey Nets and even back to go back to the A B A days like there is a history to this franchise.
And I know when you moved to Brooklyn, you're obviously establishing a new identity.
But there's like a nice, rich tradition there again, you gotta go back to a BA to get some of the winning culture, but carrying over even to the Jason Kidd era and just that old school Nets logo, which is what you get with those throwbacks that I actually threw in there as well.
Just so we all pay homage.
Thio, Kyrie, Irving and his influence over this franchise as well like these were going to be exciting to see and hope to see.
Here's my hope, though, is when teams do this across the league like I want to see these jerseys a lot like I don't want this to be.
Hey, check your calendars.
You're gonna get three times.
You'll see the new quote, Katie Jersey.
You'll see the Irving Jersey now like use, spend a month running out there every home game running out the K D version and then spend a month like running out the additions for Kyrie because I just think it zoom or impressive than the one thing I will say.
While it was cool in the initial rollout, when Jay Z got involved in Brooklyn, it very quickly I took a step back and was like black jerseys cool like it wasn't a lot of personality, and I didn't think it really represented Brooklyn in that way as well.
So this is a nice move for them.
I'm a fan of those.
The other ones that we want, of course, get into you because not just about Brooklyn, despite the fact that it's two guys that cover the Brooklyn Nets.
You also had the Trail Blazers coming out their City Edition flashing that Oregon right across the top.
Their initial take looks like your your fan here is well, alright, so I didn't notice this, and I actually a friend of mine, pointed this out.
The topography map that I think is that's what that's supposed to be.
It's a mountain in Oregon.
It's probably near Portland.
Um, if you see there's little lines on it, it's supposed to represent, like what? What is, like raised elevation and what is like, I guess, like a little bit lower in like a plateau.
I believe that's pretty sweet to me.
I think that's a super cool concept.
You obviously like.
Oregon is a super super California, so I'm, you know, like right next toe Oregon.
So I mean, like, Oregon's gorgeous and like, you know, you have the mountains.
It's like a really good escape, essentially from from just anywhere, especially in the Pacific Northwest.
So it's I think it's awesome.
And I like the Oregon to the fawn, is cool.
I know some people are kind of like Well, like, whatever they're gonna call, you know, What are they gonna do next with the jersey like Earth? The Earth travelers.
This which I think is kind of funny, but, um, no, I like I think they're cool.
Are these, uh, I had this other image here, and you probably know top of your head like and maybe I just didn't notice that I think these air a different version.
But this is this other version of it.
I don't know if I ever e never noticed the hatching on the back, which is actually funny, because I get that because it's it's like the It's the like the flannel print because it's like that.
I never I never connected and saw that until until I was slipping through looking for these jerseys.
So I just also I was like, Oh, wow, look, at the very least, even if you don't like him, I'm like, Hey, here's a team that gets it right Tap into what the local identity is and, by the way, do it in a way that your players are still gonna be maybe into it.
So I thought that was pretty neat on their side of it.
Um, now we get into Unfortunately, can they do next jerseys with, like Tim's? Like, can they do like timberland boot eyes, the boot pattern across the well as we were, uh, as I've been affectionately referring to him, the gentleman overlord Mixu pack that handles us here on SportsCenter.
He was like any chance the Knicks were gonna do anything or they just totally upstanding No, no, they're switching their name to the Dolans, and it's gonna be a nice silhouette, almost hitch****ian of Dolan side profile face on the back of the jersey, so? Well, we're waiting for those fingers crossed Knicks fans on the New York.
What is it? The guest elevators or they have todo It's just a long along elevator chain down just down the back there with a little icon on the side for the button.
It's fun because they're awful.
So the other one here is there's a couple of a couple more here.
But this is the first time putting up this because this is what this is what New Orleans was rocking last year.
They had these great colors.
If you know anything about New Orleans, obviously these are These are kind of like those themes of Mardi Gras and the Florida Lee.
And you think about even, uh, the L S U Tigers.
Right? Like these colors all tie into who they are.
It feels like a great idea entity for them. Yep.
New Orleans, however, is taking this thing a little bit of a different direction this year.
They're gonna be supporting these bad boys.
Uh, this is not one of the players.
This is just a guy with the Jersey said.
I don't think that they scaled down.
Also the roster size.
Actually, yes, There's not a in the off season, Uh, let me move away.
That that pull up there? Because I hate these these first.
Before we got out here, my first thing was the Washington Wizards switching it up. Gotcha.
But took you a second to realize the Florida lease air in there on the on the chest of them.
But any time that you do this, this vertical color break, what you're gonna end up with is some type of weird version of Are the players tucking in their jerseys? Are they leaving them out when they're tucked in or out? You're gonna have like this.
Ah, weird little half blue line.
You're going to get this full blue chunk.
It's just a Really It's just, uh, just ugly jerseys is, uh, shouts.
This is not my joke.
So shouts to Jabbar Davis.
He compared them to a playing card, and I think that's the funniest thing ever.
I give you the one of Florida lease. Yeah.
So these are is interesting, too, that they got a color, because by the way, you could even have sold me.
If you had worked in the purple, the green and the yellow, and done a version of this jersey with those colors, I wouldn't have loved it.
But you get the white, you know you could have done, you know, purple on the top with yellow in the middle and green on the bottom.
You know, like you could have done such a nice color combination.
Maybe the white is also what bothers me, too, because it's just this, like super drab the Florida we just like phase into it.
I'm just Yeah, it looked like soccer jerseys like they look like Manchester United jerseys, but, like with cut offs like so, by the way, for for soccer fans out there, if you're like and this is just from like a World Cup standpoint, there is an ugly set of I'm talking about two decades worth of jerseys from U. S. A. Soccer.
There's a version where they had speckled stars going across their chest that, I mean, in terms of all time hideous jerseys across all sports use a soccer, did it to perfection.
But this is yeah, like, this is a pretty uncle and to your point like you've got Zion and you've got the buzz around the city and the team and they're young and they're exciting.
And then you're gonna run out this.
So I'm not a big fan of that either.
The one now here, the one of them that we know that I'm I'm 100% in on this.
Yeah, this is like the perfect combo of It's like it feels modern, but has this retro eight bit kind of graphic in the background.
The Valley is a great tag like, Yeah, they're doing this right here.
As far as I say, one last thing about the last years is this.
They should have been warned by the 2004 men's men's Olympic basketball team E, another area where they have really bad versions of jerseys like a total sense like you have a like US men's like lost once in the last century like that.
This should have been there.
Jerseys, right? No.
Jersey could diminish what we're accomplishing on the floor.
Yeah, that's that's all I got.
They make me want to play like there's ah, what's that game? There's a new game for I'm a Nintendo switch guy.
You can call me a nerd.
I'll take that 100%.
I'm a video game nerd.
I like I played geeky games like I already know it.
Um, this one makes you wanna play like old school Mario or something like that.
Like something like really eight bitty. I know.
And I've seen some people kind of be like like, this is so this has been done before.
Like the nuggets did this a couple of years ago.
It still works every time for me.
Like I actually at first.
When I saw these, I thought these were Utah jazz jerseys because they kind of looks like those those color.
I don't even know what those were called.
Like the color map, like the heat map.
I don't really know what they were supposed to be, but they were sweet a couple of years ago, where it kind of varied from orange to red to yellow.
So I get the same feeling of this.
Um I will say it kind of looks like a fire, which is like, probably not what you want to be doing when you're like on that side of the country right now, But I mean, I get it at the same time.
That's a fair point about the fire.
I didn't think about that until you just I was the first thing I thought of.
My parents are in California, so I'm like, kind of looks like maybe that's not what they wanted. Thio.
Those a little bit there from you.
Give a little space until they bring the purple down.
Maybe break up those colors.
Get it out of the right order there.
No, these were good, though. Man, I like these.
I'll be sure to see, because the Utah Jazz again, that's like a good one to get away from because jazz does not remotely connect me to Utah in any way, shape or form.
I think it's like the I think it's like Joke was starting to go around there and the bubble in the playoffs where they were like it was just like the idea of, Hey, the Utah Jazz.
Is there any name that just doesn't seem to identify with the place that they're from? So you know, the Valley like I'd rather, like stick with this on all jerseys just so that you kind of feel like you're branding yourself with the area of the country that you're from.
Uh, listen, I think that's mostly the only other thing that I have obviously is the gold standard.
This to me still combines all the right elements of Miami And that sweet Miami vice kind of vibe like these ones still do it for me.
I think this is like to come get me if you're if you're another franchise around the league right now, Uh, do you have the Mavericks ones? The the gold ones? Oh, the Mavs ones? Yeah. Hold on.
Let me get those up to let me all filibuster for a second.
So, yeah, the any of the Miami jerseys, or sweet, actually really like the pink ones, like the pink base where it goes with blue.
Like those were just like, those were amazing, like, and I I I genuinely think Miami shouldn't I get that they have to do, like in New Jersey every year? I would just do different variants of this jersey every single year, like I wouldn't even try to do anything new because these air so exceptional to me, I like thes.
Okay, I I so a couple things on these.
I don't love that.
The font looks so flat.
Like I have, like a real pet peeve with jerseys, where it's like it just looks like it's printed on there.
I wanted to have a little texture like I get again.
I understand why people don't like the Nets jerseys like Fine, whatever.
The painted like the writing itself for the Brooklyn Nets.
Like it looks like it has texture, like it looks like it's painted on there.
I kind of like that a lot.
This looks so flat to me and I don't love that.
And it kind of looks like like, I don't know, like a 2000, I don't know, like early two thousands jersey, but like a really poorly done one like this, I do.
I will say I like the colors and I think it makes a lot of sense.
Um, toe have gone check and have, like, you know, the gold standard Jersey because they are gonna like they're basically we're gonna run the league if everything goes right for the next, however many years when he really starts hitting his prime.
And what I see now what I do Wonder is, though, because even on the on the front image, you have that gold colored collar.
I'm curious because these are the only shots I think out there right now, these jerseys.
So I don't know what the sides look like.
Like you could probably have a little pop of accent there and it would be impressive.
And I think like these, which, by the way, actually, if you think about it, these really do kind of pull a little bit from the Dallas Stars in a lot of ways, in terms of like, kind of the color combination, they're not quite the same, but those those muted kind of greens.
But you said it about Miami like there's also a point where if you're any of these teams, if you find the right version of your jerseys, your uniforms just stay with them.
You don't have to switch on like you said.
Like Miami, you could just live with those.
You could just stay with those jerseys for the rest of your franchise and be awesome and it'll be great and everyone's gonna be for it.
So, like, once you hit on it, you can feel free to lock into that.
And Dallas probably has with this I'll be curious about, like, what's the reverse version of this? Is it that nice, deep, muted green as the base of the jersey on? And then you get these gold pops.
You probably throw some white letter, you know, white outlines around the gold lettering in the numbers.
That would be a really nice like That will be a nice combo, too.
So there's a nice flips of the other side of this that I'll be curious to see if they dio and I want to know what the sides look like you.
But yeah, no, listen, the other thing.
Well, you know, Miami has been a great franchise.
It works tohave jerseys like Miami does.
If you are a team that is well established so you can actually write, you could be flamboyant if you're Dallas has been a good franchise.
But if you're trying to, like, set the standard, you wanna look, you know LeBron James were wearing suits to the finals because we're all business, right? Like you want to kind of attempt, but you won't think about.
I'm here for these ones as well.
Like on this is the last shout out.
There's nothing to do with any of the city jerseys.
This what? This is what these guys should be rocking.
Do you? Oh, man, I've never seen a jersey that has people more split.
Um, I think if you're a soccer fan, you like thes because yeah.
So eso I'm I'm not so I don't know.
I always like a I don't think the Pistons should have these, but that's where I really draw the line.
I'm like, I don't know, like the pistols, just like all right.
Like you have Andre Drummond.
You have Derrick Rose.
You have Luke Kennard? Like, what is that team like? Why do you have these? I don't know.
I just like they should have the don't know what dresses.
If we looked at so far, they should have the playing card jerseys.
You know what I mean? Like, that's that Z Christians.
Welcome to the ****.
I don't know how to take a dump on the pistons, but I really like Yeah, there's a hard right turn that cannot even be about the jersey.
Just turned out to be about like I just don't like the Pistons.
I don't I don't think that they should have nice things.
That's what I mean.
Like, look, they've treaded.
Water is like the 89 seed for the last, however many years.
Like I'm like, all right, These I just don't get it like I don't understand.
I will say I get the tire tracks like that's pretty cool for them, so I understand that, but I just never It was just like, Well, this is a never going to see these jerseys on TV because I just I'm not gonna be watching pistons too much breaking news.
So, you know, for me, it's like I don't know, like, it's it's fine, but I don't know Well, what I will say is, too, as we, uh, for maybe disappointingly for the fan base, maybe excitedly.
We're gonna move off of the Jersey.
The New Jersey talks now, but by the way, will be surprised if they put out more city jerseys.
We're gonna be right back here forward again.
The before we discover what I will say is the tire track thing is cool for the Pistons, but the Detroit is such an iconic city.
Onley yourself, Motor City and then just having a city skyline probably does it like it probably sells you on it.
So listen Detroit.
Obviously, you listened to the broadcast that we do on SportsCastr.
Feel free to take the tip.
Thea other stuff.
So the other, maybe more important news and and you said at the top, like it is just a state of limbo.
I think right now for the n B.
But they had come out and said, We want to start on the 22nd of December.
Let's get this thing right back into gear.
Let's capitalize on our Christmas Day slate of games that we know are so important for them.
We thought and rumors Danny Green was a part of the part of the Hey, I don't think LeBron likes this train.
It is the new kind of pushback is saying.
Players are at least rumored to be saying Martin Luther King Day the following month end of January is when they'd be comfortable starting to be a month difference and give three months off a Sfar as the timeline for players and teams that were in the finals there in the bubble, It also would push back, they said, instead of having the draft be at the beginning November there and then immediately start free agency, you could push back for you and see a little bit, which probably is important for organizations to be able.
Thio, look at your draft.
Assess your roster and really figure out what you're trying to.
You know what needs you're trying to fill their What? I mean, this is all speculative.
But where do you think that you think this is trending? Ah, Later start date.
I have no like, honestly, this is such a bad and search, of course like this, but I have no idea, because it just feels like we're going through public negotiations.
And, like the MBA, does this a lot.
Like they'll one reporter will represent the players, and the other one will represent, like the the Board of Governors and the actual league office itself.
And I just feel like we're kind of going through that, Um and I don't know who's got the upper hand in this like you could probably say, Well, look, the one that, like the one that that probably has the upper hand is the board of Governors.
But if you don't have LeBron like you're going against LeBron, I just have never seen this.
Where LeBron's on the other side.
Usually LeBron is working hand in hand with the league office itself.
He's the one that usually wants to play because hello, he hey cares about his legacy and be just loves playing basketball.
But right now, like he, I think he genuinely deserves some rest.
Like I'm kind of like some people are being like all over.
You know, LeBron's being such a whiner, and he's doing this and he's doing that.
He's making all about himself like he should like he just want, Like, why should he have to sacrifice stuff? Because everybody else wasn't as good as his team Waas like.
Sorry, that's how it works.
Like, why is he at a disadvantage? I'm sorry, clippers that you weren't able to pull it together and you could the Nuggets.
I'm sorry, Milwaukee, that you couldn't figure out how toe you know, switch on defense like I don't want to hear all this like, yeah, like he just He should have the upper hand in these negotiations compared to the other teams.
Because, like, I it should be a player, like a very even playing field. Yeah.
Yes, I agree with you on that front.
I think one of the things that they were room bring to our room a ring.
But just speculation that if you want to start December 22nd, this is now a bargaining chip for the players to say, Hey, what do we want? Back in return? Right? Because we know everybody suffered through this last version of the MBA season.
So what number of players were saying? Hey, if we confined ourselves away to get a little bit bigger piece of the revenue share pie, then yes, then we will start December 22nd.
If that meant that LeBron James and other veterans superstars had to play a little earlier, I think they probably would.
You can still mitigate it through load management, etcetera.
But I will ask you, I know how big it was to have LeBron James in the finals.
We all get that at some point, though, is the n b a going toe have to make a stand on.
We need to turn over to what the next generation of players are in the league.
We have to know that Zion can carry the league.
And by the way, like maybe with Brooklyn and K d and can carry your like, they're gonna be ready to go December 22nd.
So there is an opportunity here where the MBA can also, at least in the early part of the season, you strike in at the peak time, normally Christmas lights.
And if LeBron is going to sit out a handful of games over the first month of the season, you can kind of gauge.
Hey, where are we without LeBron James? Because that day is coming, you know, permanently at some point over the next handful of years, maybe in a decade, we don't know.
But when that day comes, are we going to still be in good standing? Are are we really so tied to LeBron James in order to have success in our league? I would say yes, like eso.
Very well, maybe.
And that's that.
That's a very dangerous spot for the N B A to B in right now it is.
But I think a lot of it is like Okay, So, for example, like you have this Lakers team this year, I felt like there was a big pause on a lot of LeBron legacy talk like you come in the last year and it's like, Okay, we're not even, like, oh wise, the best player in the league.
You know, LeBron hey, missed the playoffs last year and it just sort of felt like it was beginning.
The beginning of the overtraining away from LeBron was was happening, and it was kind of like Okay, now you have LeBron winning his team.
We know what they are.
They're gonna bring back, you know, a d and they're gonna be in the conversation.
I actually would almost expect because there is the big bad Lakers still around.
League interests would be up.
I I am personally super interested in it, like I now I know who the gold standard is this year, and it's that Lakers team that we saw just beat the brakes off everybody.
So I actually think it's really important for them to tap into that.
So a you have a bad guy or whatever you wanna call them.
You have his legacy discussion, which is suddenly very ripe.
It is that the, you know, Zach loaded a giant column comparing him Thio.
Michael Jordan was an excellent column.
And you have all of this stuff happening, by the way, he could add another one.
So, do you really, really want to take that chance, interrupt his process? And I'm sorry like, yeah, he he may be the greatest player ever.
Like I would not want to gamble with that too much, because in Adam Silver's tenure, he may not get another player even remotely close to LeBron James.
And I think you should try to play capes and what he's doing in his greatness pretty much every single second of that.
And and this is I'm not like this giant LeBron Homer.
I'm not, but I also recognize like, Hey, this is actually gonna be really good for league interest.
And if you have him missing the first month of the season, or unhappy or going through the motions like that's actually not good for your product at all by the way he might not be the only player doing that.
Do you want the Miami Heat suffering from that? Do you want? Like it's just like I don't It seems like there's a lot of people that are unhappy in the league about the idea of starting that early and you have the I mean, look, the Michelle Roberts like let off a really potent statement about how it's like absolutely crazy to start under these timelines and guidelines.
So I don't know.
I don't think it's just LeBron like, I really don't.
I think that there is a lot of reason for us to be a little more concerned than we are at the end of the day.
Like I do think that a couple of things will will be really important.
A getting a normal off season for them next year, I think would be super super important.
So I do think that talks pretty loudly.
The money, obviously and then just again, like they want to get fans in his many seats as possible.
They've already kind of punted on this year.
That's what it really feels like.
It's gonna be another lost year.
Even though last year.
They kind of made most of their money this year.
They're really losing a lot of revenue.
They're really hoping for the year after that.
So I think those things will probably talk the loudest.
But I will say it's like it's a weird situation where I just I don't remember the league not being hand in hand with LeBron.
Well, so here's a couple of things you mentioned the Miami Heat like so that's the other thing.
It's not just LeBron James, right? What we're using him is the talking point, obviously, is the face of the league.
But you do have other teams in the Miami Heat.
Had a lot of injuries in the finals.
Ah, lot of wear and tear.
You know that, Luca, Don check and you have poor Zynga's.
And they're both gonna be coming off some injury surgery for prison.
Just so you know, there's there's gonna be a lot of examples of that around the league.
The interesting thing to me is whether or not the MBA tries to find strike a balance in this thing of saying we're going to start in December 22nd and also players that don't wanna be a part of, you know, be a part of it to start.
That's OK, right? Thea other.
The other side of it is that I wonder about, Remember all the teams that didn't all the bad teams didn't make the playoffs that weren't part of the bubble.
They've now been sitting around for a long time, right? They lost the last 20 games of the season.
The bubble, the playoffs, everything else.
And I wonder if there is a world where you maybe would say and this would include even some of those playoff teams.
Maybe you just take from the Western and Eastern Conference finals on.
So those four teams get a little bit of a reprieve because they were in their longest.
All the other teams start the season on the 22nd.
Go ahead and start to season.
You'll have some big matchups in there.
Still, you can, you know Brooklyn is gonna be able to be a part of that, right? Like you're still going to get some nice matchups along the way.
And then maybe, you say, and the other 14 so we're gonna do is like, pace out your schedule and you're gonna end up having a little bit more of a compact is scheduled down the road.
But maybe we dio you know, maybe you intro the season with a bit of a bubble opportunity for some of those back end.
Didn't make the playoff teams it showcases, gives the fan base a little bit of taste and then still appeases veterans and players that don't wanna be a part of, like, I think the n B A could get as creative as they were around the bubble.
I think they can do it again right here, because, to your point, they're usually on the same page.
And the idea of ramping up a season so quickly has a really NFL kind of vibe.
And that's never the way you never want to get compared.
Toa ownership and management and players like the NFL and where it's like products most important will sacrifice the body.
Do not want that to be the 5% into your players.
No, exactly like the heck with it.
Like, yeah, no, it's It's funny, like they all the talk of, like health and wellness and like, Oh, we need to protect our players.
It was like okay for, like, most seasons.
We need to this year.
We're not going to but like way really here.
Okay, 100% you know, And you do not want to get that tag on you.
If you're the n b A.
You have such a great rep.
But but more realistically, I wonder about bubbling up with some of these lower ranked teams because you're still gonna get like the pelicans will still be in that mix, right? The Phoenix Suns will still be a part of that.
So there's still gonna be exciting teams, and maybe you sell the start of the season on the 22nd and into those Christmas matchup is being the young, you know, here's the young stars of the MBA, and you focus on a lot of those young teams that have some Really good.
I mean, listen, a lot of these Air Western Conference teams, unfortunately, But, you know, even the king's Hey, you've got young players like Okay, you guys were going against these matchups and maybe you'll mix in against the Brooklyn Nets and the new juggernaut that they're gonna be and against, you know, some of those Western Conference teams.
I guess you look listen against the Houston Rockets, right? Hey, you guys are getting thrown out there.
You never seem to be able to achieve your goals.
You have to play on Christmas, you know? And maybe you can find that blend there.
I assume they will figure that out, but they are gonna have to stay creative and not just say we're worried about getting ourselves back onto our normal schedule in the following season.
And that's why we just kind of throw this stuff out the window and do it right now, because you're you're you're going to aggravate mawr than just LeBron James.
More than just veterans.
You're gonna you're gonna irritate possibly a third of the league and a third of your workforce.
Yeah, they're deadline to get all this stuff done.
Is tomorrow so plenty of time? It was a rush.
Um, so I don't know.
I don't know how that's gonna work, because they need the players association to sign off, and they just they don't have that.
I'll even go further.
Incidentally again, these are the kind of things you could have been working on in the background over the past 106 days when you had teams in the bubble.
Playing like this is the logistic kind of stuff that you should have at least been figuring out you have player reps that you could have spoken Thio even after Chris Paul was no longer in the playoff picture.
Hey, Hey, Chris.
We'd love to get together with you here and start to flesh out some ideas Now that you're not playing basketball so that we can hit the ground running when this finally wraps up, I'm really of the completely, uh, just like this is just completely my opinion and I There's no no research or anything supporting this.
So absolutely take this with a giant grant.
Assault is what you get 30 minutes into a live stream where we started with Jersey reviews.
Um, I'm kind of of the camp that they really hedge their bets on fans being there.
And I think that they they saw the NFL doing this and they saw the MLB doing this and they said, Oh, look like the MLB. Yeah.
Look, they had some early positive tests.
Um, you know, andan, they didn't have any for a while, and it's like, Okay, like, we could probably make this work.
Um, I just didn't think it was gonna be a problem.
Yeah, and I think that, like, I just sort of feels like that.
Like, there was so many reports coming out about Oh, they wanna get fans and seats So they wanna get fans and seats So they want to get fans and seats.
They pushed all the way till March, blah blah, blah, blah, blah.
And then all of a sudden, there's like, this sudden pivot and it's like this Ah ha moment of, like, the way we actually can't do this because guys are getting pulled from the world.
Siri's because of Koven test, and it just, I don't know, like it just I'm just trying to and like, it's really it's a dangerous game to play a little bit to try to read through the tea leaves because, ah, lot of times you're just reading it. Nothing.
But that's kind of what it seems like to me, like I don't know what else to say after seeing everything that's happened in the last couple of months.
However, other leagues of you know kind of acted and also like these girls, these guys were all stuck in the bubble.
I'm sure all they've heard about is how much they don't like the bubble.
Those guys didn't wanna be there, so Well, the other little thing about to like you said, positive tests like the MBA can be hedging their bets around.
We think we are gonna have positive tests.
So the sooner we start to season means the better we can mitigate it.
When we know we're gonna have to shuffle schedules, we're gonna have to delay game.
So, you know, starting on December 22nd, you may only see 65% of the games that you would over the normal first month of the season.
But we're gonna need that because we're gonna have to keep shuffling back, and hopefully this ends up working out.
So there have been many conversations about bubbling to start the year or anything like that either.
So it's interesting for a league that did it so well around the playoffs and getting it restarted.
It looks like during that very similar spots, a lot of sports where there's like Boy, we didn't think it was gonna look like this this time around.
So well, obviously prize out. Tomorrow is the deadline.
So whatever is going to be finalized, you're certainly gonna here Probably a lot more today.
And then into tomorrow I wouldn't be surprised as Matt broke shakes his head that they may be extend that deadline about what they're going to dio and, uh, talk about older thing.
Yeah, it's a light.
Well, but and again.
So it's like, what would they push the draft back? You know, would you delay that a little bit to make room for this? And and that's why this is why it gets so crazy because then it's like, well, push that back, and that just impacts this and impacts this and impacts this.
Okay, And then when that comes, you know, and sometimes it is just about buying time so that you can scramble like a chicken with its head cut off in the background.
But at least keep pushing yourself forward so we'll see what comes up over the next 24 hours.
Hopefully, it's positive news, and we could get excited about the n B a returning because I'm stoked.
If everybody's on board with it.
I love starting on the 22nd.
I think it's gonna be great.

Uh, probably do some.
They've had some interesting news.
I think they they had the news that they're gonna be open to taking in large contracts for draft compensation, which is a really good sign for them.
So I want to kind of talk about that and be like, Hey, how crazy are you willing to go with this? So we'll do a lot of that and then, uh, just in general, talk about they seem like they're doing things over there, So he's got a lot of insight is that some source reports of them, so you never know.
Well, it should be fun following the Brooklyn model, right? Bringing a Timothy Ma's got, you know? I mean, listen, that that's that's the path to success.
So I'll be excited to tune in for that later today and just follow up with him about the name change to the Dolans.
I just wanna make sure that they get that figured out so that you get those New Jersey flashing.
Nick is obviously gonna be tuning in.
He's excited for that as well.
