And what's up, everybody? Welcome to the A Peanut. The sixth man podcast.
I'm hosted by his bass.
I'm here with my new friend.
I met him over the weekend at the Coach Wooden's top 50 camp.
I feel like I met him.
Probably last two hours.
Do you think two hours of the capacity e Think we talked every second after literally I think we talked well, so we walked to the car and I end up driving home back to Houston.
But it was It was It was a good camp.
I really enjoyed myself.
That was actually one of the first things I think I've covered for sure.
But I have a good time.
What about you say, man? I mean, bro, the talent, the talent was there was crazy, you know, kids from all over the country s o many top 150 kids from different classes, man, it was It was a well run event.
One of the first events, probably the big.
Maybe we'll other than Pangos, one of the biggest camps you know, since the whole epidemic.
You know what's going on.
So I like how they ran it, man.
It was well, run.
It was Cultures were in it.
Um, it was good.
You know, to give people a little no backstory on the camp Coach wound, he invited the top 1 50 so top 100 seniors, top 1 50 juniors, top 25 sop****res, boys and girls.
So it probably was, what, 400 kids? They're roughly Yeah, both sides, I would say.
So it was about 404 100 total kids.
And like I said, like he said, these kids were from all over the country, you know, and at least for the guys, I mean, some of the kids, they were ranked kind of high depending what class they ran.
But they were probably between low twenties, all the way pretty much all the way down.
I think that some of the kids were very under recruited, and I think that showed, you know, they were had talent, and they just weren't, you know, recruited.
And I think that's gonna be interesting for college basketball.
Going forward, no doubt. No doubt.
I mean, so, you know, get right into it.
Were there any, uh, specific kids that, you know that stood out to you? I have my list right here, but do you have any kids I set out to specifically? I mean, it's it's funny, man.
I walked in the gym, man.
I walked in right when they started kind of the one on one stuff, man, and immediately Damon Collins.
So I believe, supposed to commit toe Hiss school Saturday, I believe.
I mean, this week.
I mean, the kids on top, nothing less than top 15 player in the country.
And you could definitely see why.
Man, he's 69 long, freak, athletic.
Um, you know, can just do so many things on the floor.
So I just walk in, you know, they're playing once I see him garden, he's in the guards line, man.
He's checking point guards and wings, man.
And just keeping him in front of him.
I'm talking about time and crazy.
Um, that that that that kid really stood out to me man early.
Yeah, I mean, I think he I think he's a pro until year. He's a senior.
He'll play feel, play a year at college, and I assume if every we could stay healthy and he has a any one of a decency. I think he's a pro.
I mean, like you said, the kid is, is he six? And I think he's taller than 69 I don't think he's 69 I mean, it's tough to say, you know, especially standing where we're standing.
Can't really Hey, can't really give that a fair assessment.
But hey, might be, man.
I mean factor in his wingspan, bro.
He's man, that is a long talk.
And like you said, I agree, man, if you if he adds weight to his frame in a year to man you're you're talking about.
I mean, it's ceiling so high you could just do so many things on the floor was stood out to me was how security Because, you know, I mean, the first thing you know, you're gonna notice the lens you're gonna notice.
That led us to be knocking physically.
You know, you can look at him So these kids, he's a superior athlete, But for me, he's a lot more skilled than I was because I had heard about him before coming in there.
But I was expected to be a freak athlete, just running, you know, blocking shots, dunking, but his form and it releases.
You know, he has a nice for him, you know, he can.
He he actually can shoot a little bit on.
He's not a great shooter, but I mean, for him to be a four, he definitely is a threat from, you know, three point line.
I noticed that he had a little bit more skill.
He can put the ball on the floor.
He could definitely slash and the pick and pop of the guy closes out hard.
He can put the ball on the floor, take a couple of dribbles and lay it up.
Or donkey, No doubt.
I mean, I agree.
110% Man, he's not saying here.
This was my second time seeing him first time seeing them live.
I've seen him playing an event over over the over this pandemic time or whatnot, but this is my first time seeing them live and saying when I've seen, I mean, you know, he's an elite lob finisher, you know, he shot blocked shots, but being able to see him in person and he's so much more skilled.
Like you said, He's not a great shooter, but you could tell he will be.
You know, you could tell with reps his forms there.
The mechanics there is soft.
How it hits the rim.
Straight line driver.
He's not yet that breakdown type of God giving you encounter here.
But, man, he gets to a spot.
Um, very high product.
I think that was the best prospect in agenda.
My opinion? Yeah.
He definitely was in my life. He said, top to the top three prospects.
Um, I think he will probably commit to Kentucky about them.
Assuming I mean, I'm a Tech alum.
I would love to see him in the teddy Jerry's who I highly highly doubt he's going to come there.
I mean, Coach Calipari College.
It's kind of hard toe, you know, Put the phone down.
You know you wouldn't go play cast, so I think that's where he will be.
Um, I don't know.
You got a chance to see daily in Coleman.
He actually committed today.
He was at the camp.
He is from West NASA's in Florida.
He committed to Georgia Tech today.
He was at the camp.
He had Old Miss Texas Tech and Georgia Tech in his Final three.
Committed to Georgia Tech today, I think on 247 he's ranked 47 in the country.
I actually didn't get a chance to see him.
I've seen I've seen I've seen him play.
I've seen throughout a few drills.
I've seen him get up and down, but I wasn't able to really catch him as much as I as I would hope hope to.
I was watching him, you know, Little.
Probably more close, because tech was in this, you know, Final Three.
And I want, you know, he was a lot of people.
Thought he was gonna come to Tech.
He was really between Georgia Tech and Tech in.
But, you know, he came.
I was watching him on. He has a nice frame.
He's, like, 66 I think he's, like, 205 already.
So he has a college body off already.
I mean, the guy he really, really can score.
You can put you can score on all three levels.
I mean, I think Georgia said they're gonna have them and, you know, have them a nice player with a former coach from Memphis.
I think they have a nice little player there, and I mean deservingly.
So I know your alumni from tech Man, but texting so many good things, man, the way the rate cause Beard and their coaching staff of developing guys, man.
I mean, they're getting guys who are, I mean there locally recruited, not necessarily nationally recruited.
I mean, they got they got it.
They got a couple of kids in there now that's more nationally recruited.
But the way that they're developing those guys, man, it looks like they place a fun style of, like spirit.
Everybody talks so highly on him, man Deservingly So, man, they they've gotten some good prospects and and they will get some good prospects for sure, you know for sure, cause I was talking to, you know, some of the recruiters, that with school, you know, I was telling him I was like, this would have been a good camp, you know, scouts couldn't have, like, came, But this was a good, you know, camp, I think for people to find some severely, you know, under recruited time.
Like I was telling you, um, Brandon Miller.
He's ranked 11th, according to for 70 ESPN.
He's ranked fifth.
He's a junior 667 You know, Wing he could toward Everybody really can shoot the hell out of the ball.
But he has no Big 12 offers one a C C offer in Louisville.
He only has four SEC offers.
Not know Kentucky.
And I was like I was telling the recruiter I was like, I don't know if he has any film from the camp.
You can get as many, much film on him But I said, Y'all need to recruit him immediately, as he has knows offers in the Big 12 and he's a top 12 recruit in his class and he's a junior, so you get to see him two more years.
I was like, You know, I don't know if my words gonna have any input on what they offer him or not, but I told him, at least you know, I would take a look.
I mean, you could take a look at them for free.
That was my biggest thing I take a look at if you like what you see.
I mean, I agree, man.
I mean, that's great advice.
You know, it's just so many guys.
I mean, if just to piggyback of what you're saying, man, I've seen kids.
Kid named Trey Alexander actually.
Really, really good, man.
I mean, this kid again.
Another kid I caught a soon as I walked in the gym and the plan once, and I mean, he's literally pressuring guys to the point where they can't even they can't even put the ball on the ground.
And, you know, every every player in the gym is immensely talented, and he's and he's in guys like that, and I just followed him throughout the camp, and I'm just I'm watching how he's running the point for his team.
He's so he's so versatile on what he's doing.
He slash and setting guys up.
And, you know, this kid is I believe he's right outside the top 50.
I could be wrong, but that's I mean, that kids definitely a top 50 player in the country, man.
No doubt about it.
I've seen another player.
Um, his name is again.
Um, it was in passing man.
He's named Colin Chandler, you know, and I was I read up on him.
He has an interesting story.
Um, last year, man, he got cut from his a You try out a program was a kid from Utah.
He got cut, you know, when he came back.
And I guess, you know, he just he just, you know, just, I guess, locked himself in the gym man, and he comes back, um, this year obviously makes the team, and now he's a high major prospect.
I think schools like Utah, Stanford or schools that's recruiting more.
He's like, legitimate, high major prospect.
And this kid got cut from his AU team last year.
I know everybody doesn't have crazy stories like that, but, you know, those were just the type of guys that that was in that gym, you know, And just to continue to go down the list way, Taylor, he's another one.
If you if you look him up, you know he's not.
He's not a highly ranked kid, but man, and I try not thio dig too deep a man.
I see this kid going and he committed to, and I'm not too long ago being a I see him being four year starter, man.
I mean, I think from day one, the way Buzz Williams runs his team, I see him as a day one starter.
I mean, the kid just competes, and he's just he's a gamer.
He is a game mur.
You mean that? I mean, I wrote Colin Channel, do I saw him as well, because he, uh, he dunked a kid because that's what that's what you know, that's what got me, you know, like somebody somebody knows.
Yeah, you know that They were saying, You know, white men can't jump on the but some of them white boys, they were They were jumping.
They were, They were They were booming.
They were booming kids.
You know what I mean? Like, they weren't playing around like they weren't playing.
And, you know, I like I like to say they had, like, they own, you know, unique swagger about that. That's what I like to see.
You know, when you find that's what stuck out to me.
Yeah, they have swag.
You know, I respected, you know, like, you know, they you know, they weren't there to make friends would make that a no show that, you know, this is where I belong.
You know what I mean? Type of thing.
And, you know, like, it was one kid.
So that to me, Um, Isaac McNeely.
He's heavily under recruited, but he was out there.
He was scoring, you know, from all three levels.
Another kid named look good.
He's I think he's committed to Illinois, but he has, you know, Big 10 offers all over the place.
Really, you know, really solid.
You know, there was a bunch of, you know, kids and I was like I said, they were very under recruited.
But talking about, um, Alexander, though he's I mean, like he said, he's really good, but I know it's about listening like a shooting guard.
But he played point guard all weekend, So he showed the whole camp.
He showed, you know, versatility.
He took his team to the championship, and they actually, you know, won the championship.
But he was guarding, you know, way the other garden.
Talking about going to A and m.
You know, he wasn't back down.
I like that. He has played with good poise.
He doesn't get sped up.
You know, Theresa, um, way We're going to speed him up, you know, pressure the ball.
But, you know, he took his time, you know? He got to his spot, kick his picks, his spots.
Well, he made sure, you know, he made shots.
I like about how efficient he is.
You know, he may take a bad shot every now and then, but, you know, you expect that, but for the most part is gonna get in middle lane, floating middle lane.
You know, mid range, jump shot, middle lane, kick out to open shooters.
You know, he plays at his own pace, and I think that Oh, you they're gonna have ah, you know, a really solid club.
We're coming in.
I mean, I fell in love with the kid.
Um I mean, he definitely like, like, all of, like, all those kids, those age men, they have so much toe work on and they know it.
I think it's shots a little flat.
Um, but just just his approach to the game and his versatility.
Like you said, man, he ran the point.
The whole camp, you know, getting pressured by guys like wait and those type of guys man.
I mean, you got to be made of something different, You know, those guys getting up under you and whatnot.
And he and he handled this businessman.
He really did a good you did a fine job, man. Von.
Yeah. I mean, like I said, I'm going against Taylor.
Like you said, Taylor, he's a competitive.
And I got without, but stood out to me with Taylor.
You know, he's another one of those kids, you know.
He didn't come there to make friends, you know, He, you know, other than his teammates, he came, he ball, he plays hard, and it doesn't matter whether who he's going against, you know, he was playing it for, you know, playing for a city.
But he was learning, you know, all of his teammates, names, you know, he was community communicating signals offensively and defensively, telling, you know, guys what they should be.
If Trey Alexander was scoring a few points through, I want to guard him, that type of thing, you know, he took it upon himself, you know, to be that leader.
You know, when you're kind of like a all star camp, per se, you know, everyone kinda out there, you know, for himself.
But he wanted to win, and then he wanted to win no matter.
You know, unfortunately, team that when they lost the championship, But he just competed.
And, you know, I have to respect that for the kids.
And, you know, that's that's his reputation.
You know? I'm from Dallas.
I'm from Dallas.
Um, and I you know, I hear so much about the kid, you know, it goes in Lancaster High School, and I just hear so much about his winning pedigree and who he is, man.
And it was evident, you know, it wasn't sit.
Eso You know, it's a comfort level there, but, you know, man, that kid is a gamer.
Pressure does not bother that kid one bit.
And and, you know, you spoke on his leadership, man.
He was easily, I believe, the most vocal guard at the camp.
I mean, his mouth didn't stop moving, you know? And I think that's so important, you know, bleeding into your college career.
You know, your coach will expect you to run your team talk, you know, have diarrhea at the mouth pretty much and he's he already? He already assumes that now.
Yeah, I think that, you know, Buzz.
Well, I think he's a Buzz Williams type of guard.
You know, Buzz is very, you know, Buzz is Buzz.
You know, he's very energetic.
He likes toe get his team out up.
He's always slapping the floor, getting these guys ready.
I think a porn guard, like, you know, way Taylor.
He is the perfect.
That's a perfect fit for, you know, And then especially buzz being the new coach tryingto we vitalized that program.
No, no, No doubt.
I was I was actually impressed with his, uh, his teammate tyreese Hunter man Athletic point guard E believe you won the dunk contest.
Correct? I think he did.
You have a kid from Milwaukee is committed thio Iowa State.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, man, he got he got a different gear, man.
That's that's another kid that I that I anticipate to make it like an immediate impact when he gets on campus.
And I was statement.
They've done so well with their point guards.
I mean, sky's the limit, man.
They just they're they're like a point guard factory.
There I mean, you have, You know, Monte Morris, you have tigers.
Halliburton is gonna be a lottery.
Pick this, you know, maybe he, you know, 100 could be the next.
You know, I think out of those, definitely those two.
He's severely, I think my father, you know, the best, most superior athlete, you know.
But one thing, But I will say, like when they come in there that's super smart, Like Monty more.
He's super smart, always, you know, he has with the best assist to turnover ratio.
And I would say History Tyree's Halliburton.
I think he's second or third all time, and I was a history in the same category.
You know Tyree's hunter if he can kinda follow those footsteps as far as I Q.
But what the ****ysts e could make the case.
He could be the best guard to come out of there just just pure, athletic wise and what he brings to the table.
Sure, he's another one.
I would say he is a tad.
I believe he is a top 50 player in the country.
I believe, um, ranking services do have him there, but I believe man, he's another one like you said man.
He's just he's a tad under.
He's a tad under ranked under recruited, in my opinion, not to say under recruited, you know.
But in terms of ranking and how the rankings, I think he's somewhat under under ranked.
If that makes sense, I mean for sure, another garden.
So that to me, his name is Tyler Powell, who's the same way as a three star recruit from L. A.
No schools in California offered them other than a lawyer, Marymount child and offering us seated and off, you see laden off from even schools in his shed geographic area, the Pac 12 Washington State, No offer Washington no offer.
And I was sitting there, you know, they wanted the camp.
I saw him in, uh, three's.
He played with Ontario and Daily and Coleman.
We talked about earlier.
He was by far the best, you know, guard on the floor, you know, he was carrying them.
He was carrying them, you know.
He was making shots.
I was, That's right.
That's he just got he makes shots.
Then defensively, he's like he's a terror, you know? He just he wants, he's physical, He's already he's built strong, and he was like the physical, like the rough above the guards.
But he, um, severely impressed me.
And I told you about him the other day that if I was seeing hard, I would have called him that night and like, Can we please go ahead and get you to sound e.
I don't think people just know how good he is.
And I feel that if if if someone was to see how he played, I feel like it would be good Offices left and Rocket, I think about he's from L.
What jersey? He's going all across the country to play basketball, you know, especially in a climate that we're in right now.
That's surprising that he wants to go literally across the United States to play basketball.
E mean it is man, I mean, but it happens so much by no means in my making this comparison.
But I mean Damian Lillard.
I mean, Damian Lillard's in Oakland guy and he is traveling to Utah to play his college Thio plays.
It plays college career and I mean the rest is history, but happens all the time and that happens all the time.
I mean, he was, like, for the first hour or so.
I mean, I hadn't seen everybody here, but I thought at the at the time I thought he was, if not the best, the second best guard after candidates for the first hour and a half or so because e mean one.
The one who was He was dominating threes.
He was dominated that we got with the team.
He still, you know, he played very well.
Um, the next thing I wanna talk to me.
We talked about him for like, 30 minutes. I swear.
But is arterial Morris I'm super talented.
Katie's committed Thio Memphis.
He actually moved.
He went to Prolific Prep last year.
He's transferring back. Going to I think.
Kimball, um, he's super talented, super talented, very long arms, very athletic.
I was just expecting him to do mawr.
Maybe, Maybe Maybe I'm being asking for too much, you know, I was expecting for him to go in there and take because people have been telling me you know this.
I'll tell you more if he is the next superstar.
Come out of Dallas.
Everyone keeps telling me this. Kids wanted done.
He wanted done, you know? Sure.
He has two years until he's going to college.
And I do understand.
He's, like, 16 or whatever he is.
But I was expecting him toe dominate the camp.
And I don't think I think that he's very casual to me.
Um, I mean, they're absolutely right in their evil on a tutorial.
Morris, Um, sorry for this.
Pronounced that name, um, super talented man athletically guard.
You know, another kid who is a gamer, man.
You know, I was I was right there with you, just waiting to kind of see him turn that page, you know, turn it up.
He is a class of 2022 you know? So he was considered an underclassman at the camp, but at the same time, you know, when you're in the gym where everybody similar to you, you know, in terms of ability and what they bring to the table, you know, that's kind of what separates guys.
You know who has that? Who has that? That itch.
Who has that competitive itch that you know? I'm gonna be the best player on the floor and I agreement.
I didn't see it from him again.
The talent is definitely there on bits, just not him.
You know, I don't want us toe feel like we're, you know, singling him out.
But there was a few kids that probably could have competed a little bit harder in the environment they're in.
But in terms of Morris, you know, I don't He's extremely highly ranked.
He's obviously he's going to Memphis, you know, getting one and done talks.
Um, I expected Maura's Well, I did think thing with me is like I said, he played well.
He got a good thing like he did.
He did he dunk the kid and after he dunked kidney, kind of, you know, start to pick up the pace a little bit and then transition.
You know, he's electrifying with the ball on this saying, But for me, him being a combo guard, that is a position.
You know, It's become a lot more ***y when you come toe college basketball in the NBA, especially what team was running three guard lineup.
But if he's going to be, you know, the next quote unquote superstars of the potential wanted done talent camps like that.
He has a thriving, no matter what classes.
And I feel like he's supposed to, you know, dominate that.
Carrion is now that he doesn't have the skill set for you.
I think it's kind of I mean, like I said, he's still young.
But we talked about this when his young are being too young, not an excuse, because he years of junior, you know, he's not like he hasn't played with top column before.
He was a year ago.
He played with Jalen Greene when the Mark Burnett, both of those guys are gonna be, you know, greeny to decide to go to the league.
But, you know, I believe he actually went to Prolific Prep this year.
I don't think he's lying.
Yeah, no, I watched.
I watched prolific prep last year at the Hoop Fest, and I believe he was still like him. But I I think he played.
I believe I'm almost 99% sure he played with Kimble at the hoop fast, so I think he transferred there and hopes to play this year.
Maybe because of Yeah, I think he came back.
Maybe because of co vid reasons or whatnot, but I believe that's how it went.
I'm almost positive I'll have to check into that.
But I'm almost positive.
Okay? But yeah, I mean, him just for me, because maybe, I mean, I don't think he really got to see it.
Maybe if way Taylor would have guarded.
And maybe that would have brought it out of him getting above to Dallas. Kids.
You know who's the best in the city type of thing, But maybe that would have bought it at all.
But it's just like for me.
My God, I don't want I don't For me personally, I'm a culture, you know? I don't want someone have to bring it out.
I feel like you should already have it, especially especially as my you know, top or lead guard.
You know, you don't you don't need a poke dami little for him to play.
Well, even go to college. I don't need a podcast.
Is Winston to be prepared? Peyton Pritchard, You know even coal, Anthony.
I have strong opinions about him.
I don't need to poke him to make him play good.
I know. When he stepped on the floor. He's read the ball.
I mean, you're on 0.
110% Man, that that position, Like you said, it is a ***y position, but it's a position that man you gotta, especially when you rated the way he's rated.
Um, you got a bullseye on your back.
You know, you shouldn't have to get poked in order to go out there and show I'm the dude, you know, And that and that.
Honestly, man, that's that's red flags, you know, because you know, I'm a former athlete myself, and I understand the grind every day.
You don't wanna work out every day.
You don't want to do this.
You don't want him.
The hell you don't wanna practice, you know? And you know, at that level, if you don't goto work, somebody's gonna take your job.
So, you know, that's just that's a slippery slope.
And it is definitely red flags.
I mean, like I said, it's like I said, the talents, that is just you know, because I mean, like, for example, how many? How many good guards did we see their 30? Honestly, we saw a lot of good guards because E.
There was definitely more guards there than, you know, Mix.
But we saw a lot of good guards and you know not, you know, like I said, I feel like we're picking on him.
But I felt that at times he was being overshadowed like he played with Joshua Beatle.
He's a four star guard going to Clemson.
They're on the same team.
When they ran, five severely, severely undercut.
He had to power five conference office.
Clemson, where he's committed and wait for us everywhere else was like Ellen, you know, University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
Um, you know, schools like that.
He's severely under recruited.
I'm when they're on the same team Beetle.
I played him, in my opinion, pretty much, you know, throughout the camp material he had, he had moments where he flash and he made some good shots.
I think in once he played it well as well, but it was just a casual thing for me.
I just you know, then, like I said, maybe like I said, he's already committed.
You know that campus really for him just to get some extra work in top of because he's already know he's going to school.
He already has, often from everywhere in the country.
But it's just like, you know, there were guards there, too.
They had just as many offers him, you know, they weren't they weren't backing down Kobe buffeting the kid going to Michigan is going to Michigan.
He pretty much, uh, no, he he's, uh he's really, really stuff and, like you said, plays hard, Man, that Kidman hard.
He's playing like he doesn't have an offer, you know? And I agree, man, I to piggyback on what you're saying.
Um, when you're at that status man, you expect, you know, you expect to perform.
You know, we expect you to bring what you got, man.
A kid who is severely under recruiting, you know, just can't outplay.
You know, that's that's what that's what.
Get college coaches in trouble.
You know, by no means am I saying, you know he's going to get penny in trouble, anything like that, But that's you know that's when they say that saying, You know, you lose your job behind that type of stuff, and again, by no means am I saying that's the case with Memphis, but you know, that's that's a real thing in college basketball.
I mean, you know, he hasn't I don't I don't want people to lose their jobs. I mean, look at Shaka.
He had talented, you know, He gets some of those guards.
You know, I'm a five star recruit, bro.
I don't wanna do that.
I don't want, you know, I don't wanna you know, I don't wanna do that type of thing, you know? They wanna you know, they'll beat Michigan State, but they'll lose two rats for Lousteau.
You know, I don't know.
You know, they'll lose the raft after they beat Michigan State.
Their at their highs are too high and their lows or too low, You know, you never kind of get that even out process with them and, you know, I mean, look at penny last year.
You know, James Weimann didn't play, but he had five other highly recruited dog on his roster, and they struggle, and you know he's not.
He's not in the conference where he's not in the A C.
C In the big 12. He didn't American conference.
Isn't that great? Yeah, you're absolutely right, man. Yeah, Absolutely.
You spoke on Biggs.
Talk to me about bigs Big.
You know, we talked about him alive, was a dork.
You know, he Yeah, he's I don't know why he's a funny kid to me because I was just watching him and he has a, you know, a personality with people like gravitate towards him.
But he's just a funny kid and just how he's just moved.
He just moves funny to me.
But he's he's really, really time thing like you were talking about.
If you compare them to your joke.
And I was like, I was okay.
I don't really know if I the doctor, was down in the car.
I don't know if I like it on the next level helping the pro, but there he moves a lot better than I thought.
You know, he has a big frame, but he moves a lot bigger than he was.
A lot better than you think.
Agree, man, I agree. 110%.
Yeah, Udoka, I was able to see Udoka Onda high school level.
I would say in the comparison lead or definitely moves better.
I mean, absolutely interior force.
I mean, you give them the ball.
You can count it.
It's a it's a dunk or foul.
You know what? Those two, but of course, the the red not say red flags.
But the limitations on door, you know, is obviously at the highest level.
You know, with the way that the basketball is played.
You know, can you go out the pick and roll? Is he A guy is gonna be able to go out, pick and roll, you know? And, um, that's yet to be determined.
But, you know, at this point, you know, it doesn't look like he will be able to, but in terms off, just being an absolutely force.
And he's a really good shot block I'm talking about.
I think it's an elite level Rim Rim protector, you know? And he got dunked, maybe twice.
But you don't mind that You don't mind that from your bigs? You know, I'd rather my my big get dunked every now and then, but protecting my rim versus my big running from dunks.
Not trying to be on that on a poster.
I mean, you know, you see bigs that run away from post all the time, and you know you need a He has a presence about him.
But, you know, Well, if you come if you come in there, you know, you you know, it's not gonna be easy type of thing.
You did a instance that, you know, some people, they're not ready for them.
You see, a big 6, 10 6, 11 kid built that way.
That runs that once the blocking shots some people don't wanna do, they might do a floating dead or pull up instead.
But doorjamb, he, um he really, really impressed me as well.
Um, there was another big His name is uh, sure I can't.
I'm gonna struggle the face.
And it's like, Favio r r r e He hasn't committed anywhere, I think Georgetown.
His favorite air, I believe.
How you say I think he has to offer.
He's a He's a junior 16.
I think George challenges offered him, but he's wrong, but I mean, he really gets up and down the floor.
He wants to dunk everything.
He's skinny, needs the game way, but I really I don't know if you had a chance to see him, but he runs the floor hard and he competes him defensively.
I know there was a stretch where he would block a shot, you know, turned his back and be the first or second guy down the floor kept alive.
He would get turned around again.
Get down again. The defense.
I was like that.
Those those little stretches those plays will set out to me the most. Absolutely.
I mean, it's so much value in that those things doesn't show up on the scoreboard or the staff, you know, but absolutely winning plays, you know, And and that's so valuable, man.
And and to touch base on that, I actually didn't.
I wasn't able to see him, but I've seen a big that that did a lot of those similar, similar actions.
And Caleb first, I believe his name is.
I believe he's committed to play a Purdue at the next level man.
And you know, we're at a camp so big they don't get touches that they normally again.
But, you know, with Caleb, you know, it didn't stop him from doing exactly what you said.
I'm talking about man.
He was so reliable.
He's a reliable prospect.
I was able to watch a lot of film on him, and he does what he does, you know, he rebounds hard.
You know, he pursues every single ball.
He's a quickly not a great athlete, but quickly brought the ground for his finishes.
Um, tough, you know, wasn't fazed by not getting the ball.
He's just, you know, I'm sure same is the prospect you were referring to.
Just next play, I'm gonna get if I'm not going to get a pastime, grab it off the rim.
Um, and I I just think that's so so important for big man and have that will and want to just to make an impact anyway, they can Yeah, I agree.
I mean, really forbid, you know, for me, I don't want to see, you know, effort.
Especially like, you know, because you know, you're not gonna get the ball.
So you really used to care. Yeah.
You're not gonna get the mall.
But how you gonna act when you don't get Are you gonna Are you gonna chase that offensive rebound? If you don't, you're gonna still get back on defense.
Are you going to contest shots? You know, how are you, sweetie? Twist ability.
Wild like I said you have Kansas this year.
They already said they're gonna play four guards.
They're gonna be a lot of pick and roll with their, you know, a lot of switching.
Are you gonna be able to switch out there? You know, you're not gonna be a guard point guard for the most part, But can you hold your own, that type of thing? And, you know, we talked about Collins.
He's one of those guys, you know.
That's what we're gonna make him a pro in two years that not only can he switch, he is willing to switch.
He didn't back down from switching, you know, He ran out there, and he was like, You know, it is what it is.
I'm gonna hold my own.
And, you know, he might get blown by every now and then.
But there, for that length of that verticality comes Frank and blocked shots of contest.
Absolutely, man, I agree.
I mean, that's where the game is.
You know, that's just where the game is.
I mean, rarely are you seeing I'm talking about the highest level.
I'm talking about MBA basketball.
Rarely do you see a low post presence to where you're just throwing it down there and just, you know, grinding out points.
You know, everything's off the law.
Quick dump downs, you know, everything's pick and roll.
So you know you gotta adapt.
You know, I believe that's one of the most important things for a prospect to have your Are you able to adapt your ability to adapt to the game? You know, the games evolve and it's changing.
And who knows in 10 years we may go back to how the game was played in the early two thousands.
You know, Big dominated the game, but right now, you know, can you run the floor? Can you? Can you catch lobs? Can you like you said, Can you be a new elite Remeron elite Rim protector? That type of thing, Yeah.
I mean, that's let me.
That's the most part of you know.
There's a lot of that's all people like, you know, in the in the n.
They're making a lot of money.
Just doing that, blocking shots and running, you know, you know, just catching.
Lob DeAndre Jordan's been the league almost a decade now, if not a decade, keeping a lot of money in this league.
Rudy go bears an All Star offensively.
He doesn't, you know, bring a lot of the table.
But defensively he is.
He's a He's an issue.
He's one of the best offensive please.
You know, he's the main reason why there are top 10 defense every year.
Because if you take him off the floor, the defense just just a bunch of scattering.
And you know other things like that when he's on the floor, he has a presence.
Yeah, and I mean, um, Coach Cal made made a comment about one of his very own and bam on the bio.
I mean, he coached.
Cao believes Bam's created a new position in the point center, you know, so that's where the game is going.
You know, we got centers bringing the ball up, initiating the offense, and then we'll do exactly what we're talking about in terms of protect the rim and rebound and have a nose.
And, you know, it's just it's just a crazy time of basketball.
Not necessarily crazy, but just different, you know, it's just is different.
I mean, even even saw the campaign.
He had 6 11 7 ft guy that they're that they're shooting three.
Not even rolling to the back they want. They wanted to freeze.
Now, you know, the kids, they just, um they think differently.
And you know the kids.
You know, you can't fool kids today. They're a lot smarter.
They know who gets the gets the big money.
You know, the back to the back of 10. He doesn't sell any truth.
You know, you don't see, you know, when Dwight Howard had shoot, no one was buying, but I don't wanna buy e o open it.
And other people don't wanna buy, like, you know, centers.
They don't shoes.
Well, if I wanna be like, I wanna be like Anthony Davis, I wanna be, like, joking.
I wanna be like, guys like that.
I mean, if you look at it today, I mean the number one prospect in the country, Um, tell me his name again.
I mean, I mean, right after the wound, Cam.
You know, they came on and they were playing on ESPN two.
I believe ESPN two, and I mean the kid.
I mean, I don't even know if he had three post ups in the game, But he was.
It was dominant man blocking shots.
And like you said, man, he's stepping out off the pick.
He's he's dropping.
You know, he's not even touching the pain.
Um, but that's where it's at, you know, And that's what's cool, you know, and number one player in the country.
And I Honestly, I see why.
You know, I was a little skeptical about it.
You know, I've seen some clips I've seen him playing past.
He's pretty thin as a prospect.
But after watching them, I mean, I would say if if if the people watching haven't seen him, you know, think of maybe a Christoph for Zynga's, that's a That's a fair comparison, not saying he's gonna be that or he is that.
But you know, that's the That's the archetype.
That's that's pretty much how it plays.
And this kid's number one player in the country.
Yeah, I just said he like he said, You know, he doesn't want to post him.
Maybe because, you know, physically probably can't.
But you know, he's his stiff.
His skill set is you know, he wants to shoot threes.
Like I said, that's what gets you three point shooting league.
You know, you can't shoot threes.
You're You're not gonna be staying before.
That's just, you know, kind of how it is now.
It is what it is.
So, for you, who was your favorite profit at the camera? Do you have one? That's tough to say, man.
So many, so many prospects.
A lot of good ones.
I would say, going back, I really, really respected a respectable way Taylor did out there.
You know, just, uh you know, just me playing the position.
I don't think weight is a true one.
You know, a lot of times I've seen him, he's been off the ball, but I would just respect the way he just what he brings to the game, you know, from a competitive standpoint.
Hey, Had a nice matchup early again.
I hate I missed him.
But you you kind of caught me upon.
He matched up with another kid who was, I believe, ranked higher than him.
And you told me, man, he might have.
He might have shut the gym down, man.
Pull in front of volleyball.
Line the bucket.
Yeah, it's Bucket's.
Okay, They were They were going at it, but, I mean, that particular matchup way, Taylor, I think he, um he definitely one.
You know, the magic when he was hitting from volleyball, like, 23 times in a row, you know, attacking the glass.
You know, crazy passes, things like that.
He definitely I think for that particular time he won the match up and and buckskins.
No, no, you know, we were talking about him earlier.
You know, this is a kid that competes hard, long, athletic lefty.
Uh, yeah, man, Yeah.
I mean, he's I mean, I was extremely impressed with his motor, so it's not like a kid who wasn't there to compete, you know, for you to tell me, Wade, you know, kind of took it to him in that matchup, man, that that that speaks volumes, man.
I mean, I think I think you know what? He took it.
Uh, you know, a person.
I think people have probably been talking about bucking the whole camp.
You know what? I don't blame them.
Like I said, he was my, you know, favorite player, but, you know, he he took it personal, but I think he was in control.
You know, sometimes you, especially young guys, you know, they'll they'll hear chatter there.
And don't take it personally.
Look at our control.
He took it to him, but he was in, well in control.
You know, you didn't I don't even think he turned the ball over.
That's how I know he was in control.
He picked this spot, you know, Buffy was let him shoot threes, and he was making them.
You know, when Buffy would come out that he would just blow by and laid up and find the past.
I mean, he did have a really good team.
You're playing with your playing with door.
You're playing with door.
You're playing with Hunter.
You have a really, really good team.
So I know some other kid probably would have Well, if I had that, we were doing the same thing, but he had a good team.
But, you know, you can't fault the system.
That's what he got. He got.
That's what he came into.
And he played well. Yeah.
I mean, you capitalizing and your camp.
Everybody wants to kind of do their thing, you know? And when ing sometimes isn't the priority.
So you got to give love for that to man.
They had the team and they and they got to where they needed to get to.
You know, they had a young prospect on that team as well.
I didn't get his name.
Kobe, Um, that might have been, I think I think he's from.
He's from If we're talking about the same guy, I think he's from, uh, from textile.
I can I can tell you because I have.
Ah, the the line of polio.
Which the Kobe Walter Yeah, he will is.
I don't know where he might be from Houston or he's definitely from Texas.
I believe he He's really good.
He's really, really good.
I mean, from a kidney.
Got you And what What class? What class? He is a class of 23.
Yeah, that kid's good.
That he's really good.
You know, This is a young man, man, from what I've seen easily a top 30 player in the country on by playing with that type of talent the way he was able to adapt.
You know, that may be my favorite thing.
Looking at a prospect, you know, their ability to adapt.
And for him to be that young playing in that much talent, I noticed that the media I wasn't able to get his name, so thank you for catching me up on that, but, um, that kid is really good.
He's really good.
He's running 14 in the country's second in the state in position and second in the state overall.
But he has offered from Bama Bela Memphis, O u S M u.
So that kind of tells you what what they think his projections gonna be.
But one of my friends he has his little brother is in the same classes and they matched up a couple times.
He was telling me, He said, There's one sop****re you need to watch it with your Kobe Walter And I was like, OK, I'll give him a shot And he's like I said he helped take us into the champion.
They didn't win, but he played well.
You know, he's a sop****re plan against, you know, five star seniors, and he played very well.
He probably I think he had over 10 in the championship.
He was making shots and, you know, slash And he showed how versatile he could be.
Absolutely, that that kid is again.
He's just one of the ones, man.
After a while, he you just notice play after play after play and he makes the right play.
I think that's so important.
You know, being in that and that environment, who makes the right place while still staying aggressive and still trying to showcase your ability.
And that kid, that kid did that toe a really, really high standard.
So man, that's a kid I'll definitely be following.
I was extremely impressed with him and you say it's top.
He's 14 in the country e.
I think he went up.
But according to first seven, he's 14 in this particular class.
Yeah, then I And and that's warranted.
That kid is for real. That kid can play.
No, he really committed 65 and I said, you know, he has with 56 offers already, So I think his projections You know what he'll be in, you know, in the near future.
Will, um you know, I think I think he has.
He has a chance to be something special for sure.
Did you get a chance to see a Pierre Brooks played the Guard committed to Michigan State? I didn't.
Unfortunately, I didn't.
He's also a funny kid.
I know that the rest were giving him a hard time because he's, um he's a He's a god.
He's not over away.
He's just built strong.
He's, uh yeah, and they were making fun of him because they were saying that.
They said he looks like Antonio Gay.
They asked him, Was he gonna play football to Michigan? So they say they want him to play tight.
He said, I don't want to play for you.
I want to play basketball I'm a Hooper type thing.
Um, he called that up with, like, a 20 point performance in 20 minutes.
So he's also a, you know, a big time score, but he has a big person.
He's just a funny kid, you know, he's He's joking around, messed with other kids playing Joe.
He has just a big personality, and uh, I think he has.
I think he's looking here, you know, he has a chance to be something special at Michigan State.
He's just funny to me.
How he just how he just did, how he used was messing around.
He took, he took the joke's on the chin.
Mess around with the refs to But I think he has a chance to be pretty good the next level.
I mean, in those types of environments.
Man, I love watching kids like that, man.
Those kids, they're gonna be all right in life, you know that.
You alright in life, for sure.
I didn't get a chance to see him.
I've seen him, but I didn't get a chance to really sit down and evaluate him like I would have liked to.
Yeah, I saw him like, once or maybe twice, because at the beginning of the camp, he was playing in the front to corporate, and towards the end, he all he was always playing in the back corner.
So, you know, it was kind of hard to get over there depending on where you were standing or sitting.
But yeah, he I think he I think he has a good chance to be up to be all right? Absolutely.
It's another young prospect.
I believe he's a 2023 named Justin McBride.
I think he just I believe don't quote me on that.
I believe he just picked up a Kansas offer again.
Don't quote me on that, but that's another young prospect that I was impressed with.
You know, I believe he transferred to play it.
Oh, kill if I'm not mistaken.
So I believe he'll be playing this season.
I don't kill Good young prospect, you know, understands the game.
Could do just so many things on the court.
Good attitude I've noticed on the side.
You know, I was sitting behind that bench kind of watching them. Hey.
Seemed like his teammates really liked him.
He was super competitive, you know? He was actually trying to dish out buckets he was trying toe mix it up.
You know, he's a little bit more mawr skilled.
A big So he wasn't down there banging or anything like that.
But I just loved his inside outside game.
That's a young prospect.
Um, I meant I meant to bring to your attention.
Um, but that somebody Justin McBride, Justin Justin McBride, Justin McBride.
I believe it was 200 to the 200.
, yeah, I think I've seen him.
I think I think I circled.
Circled his name? Yeah, I know I did.
I did see him play. No, he didn't play.
Well, I definitely I definitely this thing and play for 2023.
Like I said in that environment, I didn't know he was that I didn't know he was that young.
He played with, um, Ontario's team.
Okay, E, I didn't know he was that young.
Yeah, he has a candidate for Arkansas.
Him to teach, you know, he has talent.
He'll be. I mean, he'll be okay.
And I mean, you know, you know, the the talent level of kill produces and and puts out every year.
So I mean, those guys don't have nothing but to play basketball out there, so I anticipate him improving on what he already has.
You know, that's a That's a very good young prospect right there.
He said, I hope I mean, he definitely is a good problem.
Hopefully he grows because he's not the tall.
He's only 66 maybe tops out of like 68 ish and he could develop some more because it it just depends on what he if he's gonna go to 16.
But if he's gonna top out it 68 ish, I mean, Kansas.
I'm not project.
He's gonna go to Kansas, but they keep the 67 big.
You know, like J K.
He was at the campus.
Well, he's 67 you know, powerful, for he's been like a truck.
But he's gonna play, you know, powerful for them already has, like, well, over £200 at 17 years old.
Yeah, man, that that that kid talk about powerfully built.
I mean, man, he's a kid.
He walks in the gym and you can't help but be like, you know, glance over at him.
He's, he's and he's powerful, you know? It's not only he just looks the part like he's bringing it.
He definitely can, you know, be somebody's tight end at at a people of school, you know, he's built like that, you know, so you could use the title because they don't have much going on over there a can.
They had some rough rough years over the years Yeah, I mean, they're four star running back.
He was definitely the best player.
He was gonna go to them, talk to the NFL.
He, um he opted out mid season last week. He said, He's done.
He's not playing anymore.
And And if one of those things, you know, if it couldn't get worse, it gets worse, right? So that's that's That's tough to hear that stuff to hear for sure.
Did you get a chance to see we talk about Jordan Wash.
What do you? I liked him a lot. He's numb.
He's super versus he was other guys.
Speaking of, you know, we're talking about point centers.
He played point forward pretty much all week, and he was running the break, setting up guys Crane shots for others.
He's also a kid, has a big personality, likes to joke.
I think he probably has a dunk of the weekend.
He dunk the kid and you know he let him have and I like his like, you know, he's super confident in what he does.
He can create his own shop.
I believe he's a junior.
He has my schools already, you know, list.
I think He's had his list down already, but he's super talented.
I've actually been following Jordan for some time again.
Another Dallas negative.
He attends Family Academy.
I've mixed feelings on Jordan, man, I believe, and I getting up in knocking the kid I like to get.
You know, he he's a good kid, you know? He's a good kid.
Like you said, good personality.
Teammates love him.
Um, but I've been watching him for a while.
Andi, he's he's a He's a good young prospect.
But I have questions about him in the half court.
I really do, you know, And the camp setting on that camp set in, you know, that's his style, you know, getting up and down.
Not a ton of help defense, you know, just out there hooping.
You know, I've seen him.
I've seen him quite a few times, you know, in school ball and some half court settings.
And I didn't love him.
You know, I'm not even going to sit here and lie to you, man.
I left a bit disappointed.
Um, and I and and we both know how important the half court is at the next level on.
Do you know I have question marks about his jump shot is overall decision making.
But But to his credit, many looked really good this weekend, You know, on And, you know, kids get better Kids, you know, kind of figured out.
I think I think what really helped him this weekend and tell me if I'm wrong I think it is kind of what we talked about.
Um, man, he's just kind of playing to his strengths, you know? He's not just sit.
He wasn't just sitting on the perimeter, catching the shooting or, you know, over handling the basketball and all that type of stuff.
You know, he just kind of just played to his strengths.
Got off the ball early.
Gotta put his head down.
Made the simple play.
You know, read the second defender, made the simple play, and he looked really good.
Like you said had the dunk of the weekend.
You know, if we see more of that type Jordan Wash No doubt, man, he's a another immediate impact player at the next level.
No, You all right, though, about the you know, the half court.
I mean, if you're not gonna half court.
You're pretty much, in my opinion, unplayable.
You know, you probably your doctor is gonna is gonna be hard for you staying, especially with his skill set, because, you know, he's not a normal powerful.
We probably be sent a bunch of screens and rolling to the basket.
He's more versatile.
So him being the predominantly perimeter play If you're a predominant perimeter playing, you can't play in the half court to me, you're just on play about I literally can't play, You know? What do you on the sword for? If you can't, you're not making shots.
You know, you're not creating for others.
You can't score.
Why are you on the floor? Is that type of thing? So if he if I mean he's like he's a joint, he still has a little bit of time.
But because I saw her possession while I do agree with you, you know, people were kind of stagnant.
You're kind of jab, step of guy, Heavy, heavy step back.
Mrs Poorly is like, Okay, let's do it again.
We'll get cut off spin move. Bad floater.
So it's like, what can he do in the half court in transition.
You know, sure he's fine.
But if he's going to be a predominantly perimeter player, which I think he's going to be like a Chris Clark, how he was for Tech last year, that point forward, that's a good one.
That's a good That's a good calm.
I mean, you know, there were times Chris, you know, he's a buddy of mine, But sometimes he would get, you know, Boom.
Never taken about that because, you know, he's not.
He was he wouldn't shoot shots, you know, he would not on Lee.
We don't even know if he could make them.
Because he just simply wouldn't take them.
Like, you know, is that type of thing.
And, you know, you know, teams get to realize Oh, yeah, this kid doesn't want to do.
I'm gonna overplay every time he drives, cause I know he's gonna pass.
And you kind of get predictable as a player.
And I mean that the being that predictable.
Like you said, it's, you know, kind of unplayable.
You know, you completely hamper your offense.
You know, the way the like we talked about the way the game is played, is just so predicated on ball movement and the flow of offenses.
A guy who's just not doing either kind of a ball stopper.
You know, I'm not shooting the ball.
Um, it's tough, man.
It it just completely kills an offense.
I watched a few Texas Tech games this year and again, no disrespect, um, to your to your alma mater.
But, you know, offensively, they just there was times that they were just bad, you know? It was bad.
I mean, the ball movement was bad, you know? Didn't have the best, more consistent shot makers in terms of jump shooters.
And it if you have guys on the floor like that, you know, it's it's tough, it's tough.
It makes it tough on offense.
I mean, you know, like, there will be time, but, you know, they're struggling to score 70 points.
You know, you're not You're not gonna be many teams in college going, you know, under 70.
Like, you know, I will stay.
You know, the Paul they scored 60 You know things.
West Virginia, 54 Baylor 52.
You're not gonna be many teams.
I mean, just in d one basketball just period or not gonna be many teams going.
You can't get to 70.
I feel like 70 years, Like most teams can get to 70.
I'll even give you a little when you're, like, 65.
You know, you depend on already, but just going in the fifties or not touching 60 is gonna be a rough couple of games for you.
No, no, no doubt about that.
No doubt about it.
Yeah, um, Faras prospects.
I mean, like I said, over all in all, I think it was a It was a pretty good, solid camp, you know? I know.
You know, you're big into, you know, the women's game, you know, were there any, you know, ladies, they came the ball to, you know, I love watching woman, you know, women's basketball.
There was some really, really, really times. Um, no.
Lady Hooper's out there, especially the guard going toe.
I mean, she not that's a lot of north NC state.
She's, um she's really good.
She's really, really She just thought I could make shots like I mean, step back three, You know, coming out.
The goodwill coming off and I like how smart people you know.
She had her own little, you know, unique swagger to him, but I think she was really good.
I mean, you know, Thio touch on that.
You know the ability to make shots and the girls can.
It's it's so valuable.
There's so many that can don't get me wrong.
But, you know, I run my own a program, you know, the kids that could make shots, that the game changers immediately that the game changes.
You know, it's either you can or you can't at that level.
And those And it was so many in the gym that really, really could, you know, really, really could.
So you're absolutely right, man.
A few prospects that kind of stood out to me.
Um e I was extremely impressed with some of those Big were good.
Some of those big was like Tweener Biggs.
They were one of those girls.
She was just so acted like she was getting up and down the floor, blocking shots coming out on switching out on shooters.
I was like all I said, I love this girl's game.
She was doing everything they mix it up, man.
I really like Jersey Wolf in Burger Man.
She didn't have her best camp.
I've actually seen her a few more times.
She's now a She's definitely a top 10 player, I believe will be if we do have the McDonald's, the McDonald's All American, for sure.
Um, she's, you know, she has an interesting story, man.
She's, uh, she's actually grew like seven inches over the last two or three years.
Now she's at 65 She's 65 and she she still has some of those things.
Still has all of those guards skills really can shoot it.
She committed to Arkansas, Man, I'm talking about If you don't know that kid you'll hear about the kid named Jersey Wolf in Burger.
Yeah, no, she I got to see if we were talking about her, you know, especially at the end.
She she's something she asked me.
She said, There's a bunch of town like I said, her growing, you know, with filled with those some of those guards skills, you know, bringing it towards her.
She just all around put together Prospect.
She's legit, man.
I'm talking about 65 Legit Scotchgard skills can shoot it, and I actually I know her high school coach.
He actually coached my my girlfriend in high school.
You know, he said, she's one of, if not the hardest worker to ever come through that school.
So I mean, that's a testament to her.
Tow her grind and how hard she works.
Also, I was intrigued.
I was always impressed with I believe in that Jinnai A baker, you know.
But she gave me some intelligent Orio pronounce his first name for me and Theriot, Morris and Torrio.
Ontario and Theriot.
He gave. He gave me a tutorial.
Morris vibes I'm talking about this kid is, um, probably every major recruiting side.
She's a top three player in the country.
She played with good energy, you know, she was making jokes out there, you know, enthusiastic.
But it was just sometimes, man, she was just meant walking up the floor.
I'm like, you know, don't get me wrong.
Where she did different differ from and Tory awas.
You know there was Tom.
She'll flip the switch and you could see No, that's why she's the number three player in the country.
But, you know, I didn't love seeing that I didn't love seeing, you know, the the low motor.
I didn't love seeing her walking up and down the court.
Um, but that's enough.
That's a kid who's mega talented again.
She's in the class of 2022.
Um, she's I probably 63 and just score at all.
Three levels can shoot it deep.
She she was making plays out of the high post.
The short corner, great passer.
She's out of Florida plays with the AU program Essence.
Um, she's a special talent, special talent.
I mean, there was one thing you know about the girls game is you know, they may not be as athletic, but there's, You know, there's severely, severely, really skilled, and, you know, you can see the skill level there, especially even like the young ones.
You know, they have to be more secure, have to be more technical.
You know what their movements, you know, dribbling.
Um, I Q shooting and stuff like that.
You know, it stands out because, you know, they just have to they have to be more technically, just more sound.
The things they do because we're not like the fact that, like we're talking about, you know, Zion, he could get down off the dribble.
He's so athletic, he can recover the girl the way she slides her feet.
How she's gonna cut that ball home.
Life is just different, you know, the way she moves, how she thinks it's just a lot difference.
I love, you know, watching the girls, watching the girls game expensive when you get to see some of the best ones in the country.
So they say, you know, they significantly stand out just how they just think.
Overall, you know, just like you guys on both ends of the floor.
Absolutely, absolutely, Man, it's a different game, you know, basketball is the same, but it's definitely a different game.
You know, God, girls aren't playing above the rim like those guys are.
So you definitely see, you know, they're a little bit more cerebral about the game.
You know, the skill sets a little bit different, the way they thinks a little bit different.
Even if we're talking about just overall skill set, you know, when you play with Zion Williamson, you can kind of just throw it anywhere.
You know, that dude's gonna go up there and grab it.
You know, with the girls.
They really gotta make those pinpoint precision passes.
You know, if they don't and that things flying out of balance, you know, so that that's the type of stuff that you know, the girls game that kind of different differ from the from the guys.
So I mean you, you know, training and teaching them grills.
Why do you think that the girls game is so you know, disrespected? Um, just, you know, and basketballs and casual fan, You know, the casual fan wants to see the dunks.
You know, the the you know, the handle.
You know, all this stuff, athleticism wise that girls, you know, girls just haven't got to that point.
You know, a lot of a lot of basketball's a lot of casualties.
And the basketball purists that understand the game love the girls game.
You know, they understand that.
They see it for what it is.
They just see his basketball, you know? So I think that's really what it is.
I just think it's just it could get disrespected just in terms of just, you know, it's just a casual fan.
Casual fans outweighed the basketball Pierce and the guys who really respect it for what it is.
I mean, I talked to you about Tom.
You know, if you're just looking for dunks, you just completely missing on how beautiful is one of the sport is.
And I was trying to tell him I said, You can you watch a college basketball game? I said, How many times do you both teams combined? How many times they really Duncan game? Let's say they're dunking a lot, just like the day.
They just know dunks are just coming out everywhere they dunked what combined eight times.
So you watch the 40 minute game 2.
5 hour game roughly toe watch.
Something happened eight times.
You completely missed out on the entire importance of the game.
You missed the you know, you just missed everything.
You missed the schematic, the schemes you missed.
Just missed the whole point of going to the just missed all of it because you wanted to watch such and such done.
Then I was like, Okay, they don't say how many people the dunk that you want to see.
You know, some people you know will be a pick and roll.
He'll just do a basic to.
And the dunk that do you want to see? You might see one.
Sometimes you'll go months But again we all seen someone go to a post like I go to tech way the athletes around like you know, it's out of your Smith cold.
Yes, because athletes.
But you know, Zainur wasn't dunking everyone every game.
He wasn't doing 3 60 dunks every game.
You know, like some of those ducks of routine ducks.
You know, people have seen that at the park.
So I was like, Y'all are going You're gonna completely disrespect another sport just because you want to see this One little thing in my point is just like if you're a basketball fan of track fans, you know, whatever fan basketball is still basketball, no matter who's playing, especially the girls were really, really good.
If you're not watching, you know kindergartners, you're watching d one d one athlete WNBF Pro's best basketball in the world.
There's still very, very times whether that dunk it or not.
I mean, it's it's crazy, man.
I'll hop on Twitter and I'll see guys disrespect into the game.
I'm talking about guys who might not even play the game of varsity basketball, honestly, but believe that they will be they w n ba player, but it's it's it's crazy, you know? I just think it's it's just is that, you know.
But the game is It's a beautiful game and the girls game.
And it's funny because, man, I'm not gonna lie to you.
Never in a million years that I think I'll be coaching female basketball.
But I do, man, and I absolutely love it.
It za beautiful game.
It's a beautiful game, for sure.
Coach, Coach Call will, uh, show me that you know he has, you know, to great dog Mercedes and no great person before McDonald's All American disarray.
You know she's a superstar at USC, but he told me like if you could get a girl focused on something should run through a brick wall for you to accomplish.
But he said, The one issue we have some time with guys is you know you'll throw a test in front of them.
They'll be like, Well, do I have to do that? Like why? You know the question.
But like a girl there.
Is she this what you wanted to do? She's focused on the short run through that brick wall for you, man.
Tobias, man, that is because I coached boys.
You know, when I left college, you know that I was coaching boys early.
Man, it's just a lot of external things.
The coach coach Cardwell is absolutely right, Man with what? He said.
I believe I agree with him anyway.
But, man, it's a lot of external things, man.
He's absolutely right with the guys.
And it's not all of them, of course, but it's a lot of them, you know.
You'll give him a task adverse task, you know, And it's just, uh, everybody thinks that the next Lemelle a ball, you know, the next Zion Williamson on gets tough, you know, it's really, really, really polluting the game toe in extent.
I don't want to sound like I'm that guy, that bitter guy talking down because the game it's beautiful, man is transitioning toe a beautiful place.
The kids are more skilled and more athletic than they've ever been.
I mean, we sat in that gym for hours and, man the athleticism of those kids, whether what they're shooting from like it's crazy.
But we can't ignore the fact, man, that it it is in a strange place.
You know, I was in the gym the other day with a couple of prospects that were working out or whatever they're about to play.
And, you know, they were more into the cameras that pulled up to the gym and getting their job done.
You know that type of stuff like guys air really, really out here, almost worshiping these kids, man, at the age of 15 16 Man, you got a grown man.
****, they're worshiping you, man.
So it's wild, man.
They lose the thought of hard work and adversity and just kind of a culture that we're in.
You know, everybody kind of team hops and and this type of thing, you know, that that is having some pull backs to the game.
But again, it's a beautiful game.
But Coach called was right.
You know, it za lot of that like, do I have to? Or why or how Is this gonna help me or something? You know, just not not the same focus, isn't there with the female game? It's a little different, you know? Obviously, it's not the same money that's involved.
You know, you're not If you have a daughter, you're not trying toe skill.
Er up Thio, get $100 million shoe deal or anything like that.
So I hope the thought is different.
But, you know, they're just different, man.
They just they buy in, you know, they buy in, they genuinely come to the gym.
Like I want to get better in basketball.
You know, it za beautiful thing.
And I agree with Coach Caldwell, for sure.
I mean, you're talking about you know what? The worshiping I mean, look at Mikey has two point, what? Six million follows 2.
3 million followers.
And he's 16 you know.
You know, he had, like, everywhere he goes, cameras are all on, you know, everywhere he goes, you know, he's already very famous at such a young gay, So yeah, I mean, like a lot of guys, they're more into the camera social media lot than actually getting better.
You know, one thing about basketball sports, and you know you can't cheat it.
You can cheat it for a little bit. When you start.
When you get to a certain level, you're like, ****.
Like I mean way.
See this? Ever get us a bunch of five star recruits? They go to college.
Where are they? Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, no disrespect to the young man.
We talked about him at the gym, You know, seventh Woods.
This is a kid who was I'm talking about.
If you haven't seen his mixtape, go check it out.
I mean, one of the best mix tapes for a non pro that you're ever going to see I'm talking about was ridiculous, you know? And he's a kid who end up going to North Carolina.
Didn't pan out, believe transfer.
South Carolina didn't pan out, you know.
You know didn't pan out.
He didn't live up to that mega star status he had as 1/7 6 8th grader.
You know what I mean? I'm not saying Mikey is that next guy, but I mean, you just thinking Mikey, you know it It's just so tough.
I mean, you know, I'm gonna be talking about this, too.
I mean, I don't like I said, I don't think he'll be me like that, like, seven Woods.
But he gives me seven footage.
Bob's like, if you know, like, he gives me those type of boxes one is he going to grow to? Can he really, really make shots? And then I said one.
Where is his focus? You know, when we can tell me a bunch of things you can tell me a lot, But we're really, you know, is, you know, is his focus.
And, you know, he's still young.
He has no three years left until he decides to go to college or whatever route he may choose.
But, you know, next year he'll be a junior, you know.
Then well, Okay.
Well, now, people going to start looking for draft.
Next thing, he's gonna be a scene, you know.
So he gives me seven would ish vibe.
You know, we're not even bigger.
Social media is so by the time he's a senior hip hop.
We have four million followers by then.
But, you know, he he gives me those kind of I don't wish any bad upon the kid, but he does kind of give me those type of I've toe his credit to his credit again.
I was ableto watch seventh Woods As a sop****re in high school, Mikey is a better player than seven.
Would you know I can confidently say that, But the Bob's air there, I mean, I mean, this kid, he's I mean, he's ranked top five in his class, you know, tons of followers.
He's I mean, he has a following.
He can't go nowhere and people don't know him.
Like he said, Where's the focus? Where do you go from here? Like, Where do you go from there? I mean, you I'm sure he's getting everything he wants as a 16 year old.
Where do you go from there? How do you continue to stay focused? How do you continue to work? How do you continue to grow? You know, how do you continue thio get better? Honestly, you have everything? Yeah.
And you know, like I said, I said, I don't I don't always nothing bad upon the kid, but I said, you know, things soon want to change.
You know, next year people gonna start put them on boards and, you know, G league is probably gonna start calling, you know, Hey, you know, a year from now this, You know, this could be your life. You could be a Geely.
You know, this pro program, you know, pans out.
You know? What is that going to, you know, what is that going to, you know, look for him.
So hopefully, you know, because I think he's a better player than Civil Woods, but he still has time to develop and get better.
But right now he gives me those types of vibes.
Agree, Agree in terms of my prospect.
I mean, he's a very talented kid again, I've watched him a handful of towns, super talented.
I mean, talking about explosive.
That kid is explosive.
I'm sure he's £200.
Pushing £200 s not very consistent, but shoots it from the volleyball on.
The talent is there.
But like you said, man, you're being draft.
You'll be on draft board soon, you know, and you'll be really under that microscope toe where they can say, How good are you? What position do you play? What's your wingspan? Um, how do you doing interviews.
You know, that type of stuff All play a role.
So it's gonna be very interesting with him here in a few and a few years.
