Hey, what's going on, Kev? Hey, guys.
How you doing? Oh, yeah.
What? Good cab, man.
First of all, Happy birthday, brother.
Thank you so much.
I really appreciate it.
It's, uh, is a blessing, man, and I pray that all y'all get there as well.
No, e Oh, absolutely.
We owe five years ago, right? Yeah.
You say majors, my brother.
Yeah, I could dig it.
I could dig it. Okay.
What's up? That's something.
Happy birthday, man, but yeah, going back.
Right? So it's just about, you know, this this this mentality, little man 2021 is gonna be the year we're going to get these great guys.
Then you know what's gonna happen next after 2021.
I heard it's gonna be God, uh, Michael b.
Jordan's sister, brother, cousin.
That's gonna be the next best thing, you know.
So it's like every year we go through this thing every year where the Holland of our season is the MBA draft.
And, you know, I'm getting sick and tired of waiting for that I wanna have, you know, start being to go with the culture, and I want us to get away from, like, you know, worrying about lottery.
Pick up the lottery pick up the next day.
It is just like, ah, lot of these big fans.
Just keep thinking like, you know, once we get this player and once we get this pick, the certain pick the winners is gonna automatically happen.
When we had been before that building, these losing tendencies, these losing tanking tendencies.
And then when we try to learn how to win, we don't know how to win.
So is this like something got to give and we got to get a lot of these Knick fans have to get it.
Probably wait for next year's draft pick toe be the one that's gonna save us.
You know, we need to be the Anthony Davis sort of LeBron James.
Or carry, we can't keep banking on it, you know? Yeah, I agree with you.
Uh, Isaiah, um, Knick fans have got to get out of that mentality because if they don't, it's gonna be a continued, um, cycle of wanting to lose to get that top.
You know that that top draft, which will will never get I mean, we got lucky last year.
We getting number three.
But it was a number one, um, and tanking just for an unproven player who we don't know is going to be that well, they're labeling as labor.
They're labeling that next player as the savior, and he's not.
Ah, lot of these players air just like pieces to a puzzle.
And you know, there's not gonna be a LeBron.
There's not gonna be a Jordan.
There's not gonna be because he's not gonna be none of that usually just pieces to a puzzle.
So Knick fans have got to get out of that, you know, mentality.
I always consider it as if you're looking for that.
That's a losing mentality.
And I'm not with that.
I wanna compete, you know, and just go for the best.
So you know what else it does? It discredits the players that you have.
You know, the young players that you have on the team.
I mean, listen, you know, if you don't have a good team, you don't have a good team, and you gotta find ways to make changes to upgrade your team, right? But when you're talking about, you know, guys like, I'll get Barrett Mitchell Robinson's, you know, and you're constantly looking to say, But we got to go get another young guy, you know? They look and say, Well, what about us? I'm here for a four year contract.
I got a four year contract for a two year contract.
You know, you just you know, you just don't care about us.
Oh, you know, and obviously the team, you know, these air fans talking.
So it's not the team, you know, You know, the team will probably have some different ideas and how they wanna build.
Clearly, I think they do way could talk about that later to a little We're gonna talk about because we've all seen that too, right? So, you know, they have some different ideas on how they want to go.
But what we're constantly looking towards the draft.
I mean, everyone points to Philadelphia, right? Because Philadelphia, with, you know, they were able to get basins, were able to get Joel and be, um but it took for them to get to franchise players.
How long did it take on and in order for them to make it anywhere with those franchise players.
Guess what they had to get.
Every team is gonna have to get free.
Agent you Can someone turn that down in the background a little bit? Yeah.
Sorry about that, man.
Do have talked on the show.
And there's no guarantee that those two franchise players, they're gonna remain there, you know what I mean? So, you know, people appointed feelings said, Has it worked? You know what I'm saying? Well, you know, Philly is better than you know. They're better than the Knicks.
You know, we'd rather have Phillies team than the next team this and that.
But I think one of the problems that Philly has had is because they for so many years the team was tanking even while they had Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
That team doesn't understand what it takes to win when it's timeto win.
They need players now that teach them how to win in a coach.
And I think that's what they're hoping to get in Doc Rivers and send this that teaches them how to win where I think when you're you could start building those habits when you're really young.
The team should start building those habits when they're really young by, uh, you know, not see.
Like, the thing like Philly was just blatant with it, right? They were blatant.
This'd because there was no there was no, Like, we're developing this.
That the other thing, it was just we're gonna lose.
So we can so we can acquire talent there waiting with it s So what do you think that does with the young guys? It's like, all right, they're trying to lose anyway.
No reason for me.
Thio Pair? Yeah, Accordingly.
I know they're professionals, and they should do it on their own, right? But when you're talking about someone who's 1920 years old on, you know, they're gonna take direction from there, they're gonna take direction from from their team, you know, because that's who they're looking at as the leaders.
I'm gonna come to Brooklyn and e was thinking I was thinking you're gonna be talking about losing mentality of the players.
Well, I watch videos on YouTube.
You know, the disadvantages, the advantages.
Now you're coming up with just fans having a losing mentality.
So I'm not prepared for this.
But to be true, I didn't know what Sims said.
Um, they have to franchise players, but because of the losing happening in the first years of their career in the fairly in the 70 sixers, right, For the organization, if you ask those guys if they have any tie to the team or the organization like if you're gonna stay here to the end of your career, I bet both of those guys we're gonna say, Hell, no, I'm going to just, you know, waiting for the contract to be up, and I'm gonna go to L. A. Whatever.
I think if if we would do the same thing for a guy like R J that we wouldn't get him help, It would be no first, consistently, the four years of his contract we would be sucking.
I bet he wouldn't feel anything that he owes us.
So he would be able just toe just leave us, you know, on the ice slide, like like everybody says right.
If you're gonna have ah player that see that you're investing, you're not losing your not thanking, you know, Sometimes losing is the step of the process, right? But not that you are tanking.
So, you know, everything comes.
You know, if they're going to keep the core players, the chemistry is gonna come.
You're gonna add a free agent here and there.
You're gonna add a player here and there through the draft and stuff like that.
So you see that they're building.
And if he's the corporate core piece, it's a little bit on him A swell.
But if he doesn't have any help coming from the organization, he won't feel that.
You know that that the tie with the organization So he's gonna be, you know, like, see like Okay, they're going their way.
I'm gonna go my way.
Guys, and that's gonna be it.
It is gonna take a toll on every player.
So e, I don't care if you say unless a guy is on Lee there for like, like, work things like like a career.
Okay, I'm a basketball player.
Whoever pays me more, I'm gonna play for them, right? I'm gonna get money.
But most guys, at least when they come into the league that their minds like I'm playing basketball, but I'm also doing it for fun, right? So it's a It's a dream job.
You get to play ball and you get to get paid really well for it.
Right? So we're trying to, you know, keep that dream alive as long as possible.
And if those, you know, opportunities, those gold medals go, those championship rings and stuff like that, you know, later in the career.
That's why we see guys over 30 years old.
No going for ring hunting.
They didn't care about the money because they got a couple of millions.
No, they earned, you know, 1st 10 years on, then they know.
Just pick a team to get that ring so they can say, Okay, I accomplished this. This and this.
I played basketball.
I got the million e.
I did everything I wanted, right? That's a siege It as I see it, right? Yeah.
You know what you said earlier and just what you said earlier.
Andy, um, about about, you know, the guys not having ties to the organization because they see that the organization is kind of like they're not committed to them.
you know, they they wanna lose.
I feel like it's gonna be like that with them centers.
Yeah, I could I could definitely see, I think, honestly, some before GMO goes, I wholeheartedly see events and is going to the Lakers.
I think that's gonna I think that's gonna happen.
Really? You think so? Isa? Well, it's crazy.
Remember Magic Johnson? Even though Magic Johnson was horrible But Magic Johnson really, like was like he was in almost in love with Ben Simmons.
I think Ben Simmons has a lot of respect for magic.
And, of course, he you know, little LeBron's big brother.
So I definitely see, like, you know, once, uh, you know, LeBron gets probably to that age where you know, when Brandi comes in, he's probably gonna go wherever Brandi goes.
I can definitely see e definitely See, uh, been Let's get out of here, you know? So let me.
So let me put you on the spot.
So since we're talking about this and our favorite person E 00 k E o e, it's actually half time, so Okay, your quick.
So what you guys were saying? Would you would you say that KP had that mentality that he didn't want to be here anymore, would you? Would you say that? Okay, so I go first.
Then we could probably all answer this question with KP.
Personally, I think this KP was really tweeted me a e o a.
You know, my God.
So the thing is not so you know, for me with K p.
I don't think the situation was it was losing part of it to me.
A smart part, I think.
Because if you see how the Knicks were playing, you know, when he was with Frank and we were building something way, we're building something, and it was getting there, you know? Let's say let's say you doesn't.
Yeah, he doesn't have the slaves were we're looking at maybe a knife and eight seed fighting for it, you know? And then, you know, we can do certain moves, but I think what KP was to me again, I will always go back to him and his brother.
I think they it was more about they It's okay.
It sucks when you it's kind of hard when you know you're the men.
But you don't know how to handle being the man.
It's like he was really full of himself is like he knew he was the main in the next.
Like he Listen, everybody, listen, I don't care what nobody says.
We all know at that time when we were having a little success with KP, he knew what it waas.
He knew when he was going like on that eight game streak of 30 points.
So listen, he was in the M v p.
He was literally talking about being in the M v p k e to me.
I think KP read the news.
He was listening to all the stuff and he got full of himself and he wanted more power way, bro.
But it's like Bro, especially with his brother.
We all know what his brother way all know what his brother wanted, What I'm saying.
So the thing now, so are we.
Proper direction on and leadership on the team both on the court regards their players and in the front office because I think the issue with Melo, um, the way that Phil Jackson stream Melo, the fact that players are usually gonna gravitate towards other players, especially if they are great player.
So called great place for these guys, you know, grew up idolizing them, but not you get the chance to play with them.
They saw, you know, take it for what? It waas.
You know, I think metal should have left when you had the chance, But he stayed.
And Phil Jackson? Yeah, admittedly treated him like crap.
I think that KP saw it, and he's seen it like, you know, this team is a sinking ship. There's no leadership.
There's nothing here to really build off If they treat this their so called start playing like trash on.
I know I'm good.
So why would I waste it here? So when people try to make it seem like a pieces victim, don't get me wrong What the Knicks did and how they handle the past few years been terrible.
But Kennedy is also at fault for the way you act, you know? I mean, missing meetings and not going to the way he acted, you know? I mean, first of all, you don't want anything.
You are you basically our second half? I would say second half ghost, but because of your anemia issues, you know.
I mean, you kind of fade away.
So again, you're talking about a kid as a teenager, who and again in our so called society.
Now, you know, the whole participation trophy people aren't really geared towards.
Let me I'm a win the championship at any cost, right? That intangible fire.
You don't see it as many players.
Now it's let me get this many likes on Instagram.
Let me get this big shoe contract and I'm good.
I think that KP kind of talked about like, Oh, I could do whatever I want.
I don't need a top the building, because again, I use the example.
He got that both team.
They were trash.
I mean, everybody saw it on the last dance.
But everybody, you know, people want to know that Bulls team was trash.
I mean, full of drug addicts, the stadium was basically all the arena was empty coaching step trash, and Michael Jordan took it upon himself.
Obviously, free agency wasn't big back then like that, But, you know, he could have played the Barkley game.
He could have played that game where he's a nuisance and was this stuff. But you know.
So for this this new draft man, you know people again, back to the original question about this draft.
I think the thing is that you got all your experts and ****ysts out there, you know, I've seen people kill R.
Barrett saying he's not a star he's not gonna be listening at because it is if you look at his peripherals hearing that I might.
Guys, what you want from a rookie is aggression and ability, right? Or you want somebody to be assertive, Let me say aggressive. Assertive.
So you want to get the kinks out? I if I know that you're this type of blah blah, I want to see you shoot 37%.
I want to see you shoot.
As long as you are pushing, you're pushing the temple.
You're pushing to your skills.
You're not being timid, right? You're finally after me because we could work with official.
So with this draft and you're gonna get a lot of people, like all the next we got and think about Is that what this rap is that you gotta look at guys who compliment what you have and what could build for the future.
Everybody wants to sit here and say O M P J Oh, my gosh, you know, estuary.
And it's like dogs.
If s you came to this Knicks team, he would not be as good as how he did with a Chris Paul coming alongside.
We're gonna talk about that because I was going a little bit.
Yeah, I just It's just reading Cop to me is not that you just become a common any place, right? Whoever fix your philosophy.
You get that person drive, you can't drafted Kevin Knox.
Put him on the team and say, Here's a ball I go play is Oh, but that's not his game, right? You can't do the same thing with Frank and not have it where you have a more off ball movement, have a more pick and roll where he's used to that in France.
That's why when he played against the U.
Like where is this train coming from? It comes and be waiting while they don't run a lot of those Those are on the team on the next.
So what? It is gamma were frank.
They want him to average 2010 15.
Why do like Kevin? You know what to do that because they look at other teams.
They say, Well, Donovan, what you do that? Well, it's like Donovan Mitchell planes coming.
He plays on the actual team with coaching and complementary players, for the most part, I mean, I know Joe Ingles had a terrible playoffs, but Joe Angles and had, you know, they got Bogdanovich, you got hurt.
They do things to say, All right, here, your strength.
We're gonna get guys to kind of maximize those strengths, and we're gonna slow.
You work on your weaknesses on the side.
I think that's how that's how.
That's why certain guys like Jamal.
Jamal, Mark, if you came to the next man, came to the next.
Are we showing? He's gonna be like he was in the Denver Nuggets.
I'm not doing a lot of you get most.
Jamal Murray is on the Knicks, u e I would almost guarantee people will be calling him a chucker.
Hell, because yeah, **** now.
Yeah, but look what he has on that team.
He has a bunch of.
He has Yokich who can also take the load.
He has a bunch of role plays and Millsap and Jeremy Ground s So they're gonna be free agents.
They had a defensive guard or completing a slack.
And Gary Harris, you know, I mean so again, when people talk, this thing I get mad at is like, Are you trying to build an actual cohesive team or you're just trying to build a two K roster? Yeah.
I mean that basketball is not to care on.
So this is why people I I love the whole, uh, Butler thing, right, Because you know, I'm on this Twitter or threat whatever.
You know, stay in New York was a smooth to stay in New York, but he was like, Oh, man, I remember back there, then you said.
But what was up there? I said, I don't know.
I never said but was not gonna be good.
I said the thing with bowlers that he did not fit on that wolf team.
I would play with Butler, but the way he was trying to leave that team, it wasn't going to fit with the wolves.
And lo and behold, it didn't fit the wolves.
Hey, had good numbers with sixes but they didn't keep him right.
He goes to the heat.
What? Did he have a perfect team for him? The G owner, GM coach all collude with each other on that.
Free down the Bella, who has a mindset of all three.
And you have a bunch of young players who are playing roll around him right now, people say, Oh, we shouldn't get mixed.
You guys really Butler? Okay, you gotta Jimmy Butler.
You got a guy in Steve Mills who doesn't know basketball whatsoever.
You have an owner who doesn't know basketball.
You know, Duck coach, Let's be honest.
He's most like I said, looking at you guys, It was saying, Hey, this physical, Mr Coach versus trying to tank because what's gonna happen is gonna be a lame duck coach next year.
What happened? He became a lame duck coach, status laden coach.
So you actually have a culture is trying to basically open, you know, someplace blah, blah.
But it's not really work for the team.
So Jimmy Butler comes in his team, right? There's no leader show up top like the heat.
There's no leadership, really are.
There's no, there's no players that probably really? For the style, right? Who you gonna make that next time? Like the Heat team? What I'm saying is, like we have a bunch of people incident and Twitter who just like I think that everything is embassy to carry.
They could go back at revision.
You can't build a team that way.
Yeah, I think you know, just going back.
You know what you're talking about with tanking.
I think that the the Knicks just have to build a team.
You know, not constantly.
Look for that savior.
They just gotta build a team and let it develop naturally.
Let it grow naturally.
Put energy into the players that you have the young players that you have put energy into those guys.
Um, and then, you know, and try to do the best that you can tow win basketball games, right? You may not win basketball games.
You know, you may not make the playoffs, or maybe you fight for an eighth seed.
Whatever it is, you take it and then you go into the draft and you say Okay, you know, this is what we have.
This is what we're going to try to get, you know, you gotta build that type of mentality.
What? Your young players now is gonna hurt you later.
You know, till the team with these guys.
No, I agree with you because you know what kills me? Some also just want to stop the anti dropped the roads.
Uh, Dallas has been Steven.
Is that the black guy that was coaching local doctors? I don't know if that's the black guy for local doctors, but he's the head coach of the Rockets now, so we're going to see So that's 87 80 world even scythe black guy? I don't know.
I think so. Yeah.
Anyone chance? Go.
That's cool, you know, But anyways, right, so it's like, Oh, my God.
Almost lots of questions.
No, Let me drink some water.
Of course, I just go when he runs out of stuff to say he goes straight to the water.
You don't know this straight.
You have to hold on your arm to man.
Fix your fix your face, man.
Look at this guy.
That's like this guy.
So But you know what? Be funny.
Those simple ones, e I could wholeheartedly seeing out, right? If the Knicks actually build a team this year, hypothetically, let's say we've been a team and we win.
They're gonna be a group of Nicolas.
What are the Knicks doing? They would they would do this to 20.
That you have the 2021 drive to get a team that wins to get the fight for the agency.
They would do this.
You gotta have people that's gonna have to say that the same old it's gonna It's not gonna be just a famous gonna be people in the media to It's gonna be like, Oh, well, oh, well, next they're gonna they're gonna Of course, they would wanna win when they could get top 10 or top three pick.
Of course they would do that when it's like, Yeah, but go back to the go back.
This is things water, right? As much as I like a guy K.
Cunningham, people have to realize this one of media, they're clowns for the most part, right? High school mixtape, high school gaining is ah lot different from the college game, which is a lot different from the N B A game.
And if people wouldn't wouldn't believe this.
But the can lead us.
That was in high school.
You don't think that this dude is one of the like, You know what happened to camera dish? Go watch my monks.
A mixtape from high school? Yeah.
Minute fastbreak catching people.
Yeah, And you're looking at least Monk now I'm not talking about you came a week.
I'm talking about a month now and you're like, Where did that movement from high school girls.
So everybody who's out on the money, Bates are grieving all these people.
K is like guys you can't.
First of all, it's stupid to try toe predict or try tow tank for next year.
That's why I hate the O physical tanking thing.
Right? You know what you have now? If guys you might find a general here, you might find that you have a deficiency here.
The best thing for you to do is find out what you have.
So then you can mix and match.
You take guys in.
You make guys have a bigger role here and there.
They get me up to it up to the standards and then you go into next year.
Now we know we want to draft this.
Look, we don't if we can't get a kid Cunningham, if he wasn't fault us for enough way.
Need a big man who could space the floor.
We need a guy who could run the floor.
We need a four who could block and defend.
I mean, you have to on the draft next year.
If we don't get the BP a available, that's how you ability.
That's for the Denver Nuggets of with M P J P J.
You could argue, was a luxury pick at the time.
And look at him now in the playoffs, right? All the same.
So it's something that that that issue may be an issue because I think it's congenital or whatever.
Like his just as the same issues, whatever.
But at the same time, look, they have guys like Ah Bobo.
They have guys like M P.
J and these guys.
You can sit there and argue that they wanted need picks or whatever, but again, proper team bill allows you to pick luxury picks that you can stash for a year and say we're developing on the back end.
I mean, so many people on Twitter.
We gotta get cake cutting as much.
I like him. We may not get him kicked.
You might be a busted.
And remember what? Drafted from Duke from Chicago about Draco Williams e about uh, yes.
What is this guy's name? Duke.
The big name from you.
More not open for play like the four could shoot.
Computer was number two.
Oregon's. Oh, just a little.
No, no, not just a month ago by Parker.
Parker was like, the next thing coming go use the next thing coming. Looking now.
Is he on the team? E don't know, man.
Injuries throughout throughout the Oh, right.
So you can't You can't.
You can't bank on, You know, kids.
Do you have any high school guys? Number one and all that stuff? I mean, you just can't do that.
If you look at Denis is because if you look at Denis Smith junior high School, you would think he's you would've thought he is the next best thing.
But again, um, again, right, it just just just the second toe.
These Sometimes he's losing teams that they have these loser mentality like for example, the six areas you have the Sixers to me had a very long losing mentality that kept drafting over drafting.
Then you had, you know, it's crazy.
I don't know if they're blatantly trying to lose.
I don't know about them.
They don't know if they were blatantly trying to lose, right? E think it was just bad and write It goes against what demo was saying about organization.
The organization is is crap.
You know, I think here's the thing I say, you know, you were talking about if the Knicks when, you know, try to fight for the eighth seed.
You know, people would be complaining whether they're doing why they, you know, giving up the 2021 draft pick positioning in those types.
That type of stuff.
E think a lot is going to depend on what the salary structure looks like for the Knicks at that time.
Well, now we've seen that.
It's gonna be It's gonna be low right now.
Well, I mean, just overall for the from the team standpoint.
You know what the salary structure looks like, you know? Do they have Do they have maneuverability, right? flexibility in their cat.
Do they have young players plus assets? And do they have players with on contracts that you know, our team favorable for right now? You know it's created right now, right? So you know.
So when you look at the entire picture, if the Knicks are fighting for eighth seed and they still maintain that flexibility and so that they could make moves later on, then maybe some fans, fans who would under no, you know, your casual fans probably don't care anyway.
You know, they're just casual, But fans who want to know what should you would hope, understand, like okay, they're fighting for the A C. Plus.
They have maneuverability.
They have flexibility.
They have the ability to make moves in the future to build with this core.
You know what I'm saying? And then maybe even move up in the draft if they have to.
If there's a player that they really like, because they have assets, eso You know, all of that goes into play when you're talking about building a team and hopefully fans will be able to see that if the Knicks put together a team because what I think a lot of people fear is that they try to put together a team that's going to win, you know, make it to the eight seed or something like that.
And in doing so, they give up that flexibility.
They give up on young players, they moved, you know, some of or a lot of their, uh you know, what do you want to call it? Um, assets.
They move their assets, right.
And then? And then you're stuck with a team of high paid, overpriced players that a mediocre and can only make the eighth or seventh seat.
All right, so what the Knicks gotta try to do the front office? They got to try to put together a team that is young, that can fight for HC but maintains flexibility for the future.
Right now, you gotta have a couple of assets in order to do that, right, we might have to trade a draft pick or trading young player in order to bolster your roster.
But as long as you still have some assets left a lot of assets left to move in the future, hopefully Knick fans will understand that.
Yeah, Yeah, Diego.
Yeah, I totally agree with with them and the thing about it also, you know, from what I see on Twitter and from what I see on the on the Facebook pages for the Knicks Ah, lot of these guys, you know, like, um GMO and I say it was saying they have that to MBA to k mentality and don't realize what you have.
And if you build it, if you build it, if you build it correctly, you say you build it, they will come.
Well, they will call him, but so were so quick.
I mean, they use the old cliche.
Well, we haven't won for, like, over.
I say it every they say it every 20 plus years.
You can't just manufacture, you know, manufacturing championship, especially when you know veterans.
A lot of veterans don't want to come here because of distance that we have had.
Now, with that being said, I like what Liam Rose has done.
We're putting people in, um, in the right places.
The proof is gonna come once the season starts and everything, but but we got to stop.
Knick fans have got to stop looking for the the easy way out.
You know, the quick.
You know, the quick fix you're not going is going to get a player that averages 2020 10 and 15.
You're not gonna. Every player is going to get that.
But you know what? It is okay for real quick before and he goes 19 year old kid to come in here, have it all figured out, average 20 10 and, like six on good efficiency right off the back.
That's what a lot of like you know, it's crazy because they see they see the Luca.
They see the trade young.
They see, even though Trey Young struggled in the first half, they see Ah, lot of these guys that come in 1920 you know, and they just average these good things and it's like, Man, that's rare.
Hello? And you look at this thing.
I just I just hate I mean Luca and Luca and Tree Young right, two guys who put up big numbers, right? And they're like It's a tale of two cities.
One is on a terrible team.
His problem number one is on a, you know, put up great numbers saying he's on a good team good to upcoming team.
And it's all about how you surround the player now, Luca.
I mean, they made the focal point of offense.
True Young, obviously the point.
But again, I just when these guys expect these rookies that come in and do this and that and I just think it's just impatience, I just think, um, you know, they allow again.
Look, I can't blame Nick because we've been, you know, you've been supporting the team That's been terrible for eons, you know? I mean, so some of this frustration.
But you know, when it comes to the ****yst and stuff, who should be doing a better job, Obviously we know why they're doing some of these things is for for clicks next for clicks where you want to call it, but they're not gonna be the same guys again.
You know? R J. Barrett.
You know, 27 All Star Game.
Yeah, I mean, on the rookies versus Softwares only talks about either, says the All Star Game.
RJ bad put up all those rankings for a rookie, but oh, he's not Zion.
Ion is 2 96 60 may never be healthy enough to play 82 games e.
Again, these people are you know, they don't a lot of people, honestly, that we don't know about basketball.
I'm not saying I know you know any of that stuff.
I didn't hear that talk about the next day legit.
Do not know about basketball.
They do not legit.
I remember to this day, Stephen A.
Smith was clamming for that defender that went to Charlotte.
He was on Tehran at one year. They went to the players.
They did really good and got a conscience.
Oh, Carrie, I think modern African dude, uh, there's not Bromo on.
I'm like, huh? Victory.
So they should have got business.
What the hell is this guy talking about? And just like the AMBO outside of one year went on to show that he was not that type of player like he was not.
This guy's gonna come in and change in love.
E don't even get mad when these guys in the media talk is just Is this for clear? It's sad that these guys were Nixon's whatever and because, you know, James Dylan doesn't give them special access to the back door so they can avoid the normal people, Like, start with, you know, they get all mad now.
You know, Frank, I also everything is negative on the Knicks and these things off course rash.
And I'm not saying way to praise the guy, but when you look at the team, look at it objectively.
Okay? As a team, true how they truly built around somebody.
Okay, Not have been on r J r J R J may never be a superstar.
RJ may never be a big time stop, period.
The thing about our Jane Doe is this mentality how he acts and you can see leadership traits in them.
The fact that this guy cannot shoot.
You don't hear about RJ, the clubs, whatever you didn't hear about r J R.
J is in the gym at 7 a.m. Six a.
He doesn't leave till five PM or some sick crap like that was working on his jump shot.
We're gonna give me You're gonna freeze out the vocal type, which I think you will be a vocal type.
Although point, they're gonna gravitate towards that like, yo, dudes in the gym like that, man, I gotta get this do and they might.
Now, when we get rid of some uncertain veterans, right then the youngest kids coming doesn't want a planet that everybody know our JSA leader.
Then you've got people who are James mentality.
You might be better, RJ, but they'll follow under R.
You know, I mean, LeBron James is better in Dwyane Wade that Dwyane Wade was the leader of that heat team.
So again, you build not with just talent, but you build with mentality.
You build with temperament, you build with style of play.
Once you get those things in order to trust me, Bowlers with 32.
33 the way they're gonna drop and build around it and give you guys who follow under that butler kind of mentality and you're gonna get that's how you sustain first type of legacies where basically, Tim Duncan, those guys in I'm pretty sure that Tim Duncan.
I mean, he's there now as like, a coach.
But that Tim Duncan mentality that ginobli mentality is still there with pop.
You know, you can keep drafting your pedigree with the guys that e I tried to keep going on.
But just about teams is like two kids like video games to that man.
But before, before you go and the real quick one thing.
But what you're talking about, Guillermo is what we always say.
Culture the Spurs, You know, the the Patriots way, the spurs way, the heat culture, all these places where you know where, No matter what, we're going to stick with the way we do things.
No matter how bad it looks, no matter how crazy look, no matter how somebody says it looks and the outside and the inside, we know what we do.
We know how we're gonna operate.
That's what to me, it is about culture, and that's what to me right now, I'm hoping this is what Leon Rose and the Knicks are doing.
So you're already Yeah.
Um, I'm totally going to you guys.
I'll add to your last you know, words about culture.
I think its culture and system when you look at the Spurs, those guys could put in player x x x 93 with that skill set, and he would perfectly fit as long as he's gonna know those four or five plays they enter Change Those guys they had Ginobili they had built another couple of years ago.
You know, they interchange those guys.
You would never know that.
That's another guy.
If you wouldn't really wouldn't recognize his face, right? He played totally the same game and, you know, and and added the whole things that pop wanted for it.
At the same point when when he was talking about flexibility and stuff like that.
I'll add that you also need flexibility in, like, the locker room way you need young guys.
Bet you need to know those those guys to mess up.
And you know those vest tau teach the young guys How how does it work? Because having like, 14 guys young on on the roster not gonna work because, you know, one is gonna have a stupid idea there is gonna follow with right.
But you know what? I'm gonna have that vet when you're gonna have that vet.
That's gonna, you know, take care of the guys and say, Okay, we don't do it like this when you go, you know, to L. A.
We don't go out, we play a game, then we can go out and stuff like that, Not the other way around.
Meanwhile, you know, young guys gonna go in and and there's gonna be no playing video games later tonight when they're gonna have a game.
You know, early next day.
Oh, a real quick.
I think that's a reflection of the coach at the time.
And who was supposed to be the actual, uh, leader at the time.
Because if I'm the leader, I'm playing.
I'm like, you're not.
You can't be doing that tonight, man.
Game the next, You know, the next day.
But you know what it is, though, Capital quick.
You know, the great David Fizdale saying, Hey, guys like playing that for, you know, they like doing it.
Uh, but, you know, this is this is why I was really big.
Look at what I was really, really big with bringing back Jared.
Jack, can I jump in in for one second? Just one second? Just one second.
Some things, though.
I think you have to look at it.
Okay? They have a game the next day.
They don't play till 7.
30 right? So if you expect that they're going to go to sleep at 11 o'clock and then, you know, wake up at seven.
Or eight in the morning, right? And still be fresh for a game that begins at 7. 30.
That's probably not gonna happen, because they're not gonna be that fresh eso when you're looking in the n b A in times that they play.
Um, just go ask a high school player that has to be the school at six o'clock in the morning and they got eight o'clock at night and how they feel and they don't get a nap or anything during the day.
Right? So when you're looking at NBA players, uh, you know, their sleep schedule is gonna be a little bit different, right? Because of the time that they play now, they probably got to be in there for shoot around.
Yeah, they might have morning shootarounds, right? Maybe it's 11.
You know, maybe it's, you know, depending on what they're what they're, uh, transportation.
Time is to the arena.
So the sleep schedule is gonna be a little bit different, right? They're probably a little bit later.
So I would much rather have a player playing a video game to being out partying.
E rather have these.
I'd rather have these bums.
I'd rather have these bums a skewing and not even playing a video like I don't know. I'm old school man.
When Jordan said it that, you know, some of these guys are instagram. Whatever.
And honestly, you need time to relax.
You need time to kind of decompress that self.
But if you're on a team that literally is projecting all, even like 10 15 games like I'm looking at every like my life will be 24 7 basketball.
I will get sleep.
I will get rest. I understand.
But other than that, I'm looking your what type of moves Can I still I'm a 69 forward West floppy feet.
I don't have any change of pace.
I don't have any change of pace skills.
I don't have any post up game. I don't have nothing.
Besides maybe the three and the team.
Uh, I'm not seeing a realistic, though e a realistic that a player is just gonna be 24 7 just focused on that one thing.
Not one person in the world is like that somber video.
Tom Brady number Tom Brady.
Bill, Bill. And they were both.
There's a coach Jordan, uh, interested in.
And you're not gonna You know, if you spend if you spend two or three hours saying I'm gonna do this, it doesn't mean that you're not working on your craft, right? E mean, you think r.
Barrett doesn't spend time doing other things? No, I'm not saying I'm not.
I'm not. I'm not saying that I'm not saying that.
I think I spend time doing other things.
But the thing about is that, like, you hear about Knox playing video games till, you know, wee hours in the night.
And I'm just like, you know, you're if you're on a good team and you are also already and you know something like that is all right, fair enough.
You do that, you have the leeway.
But I think we have a team that's that bad.
And there's literally no one.
I'm kind of are, you know, not since most of his rookie year, but there's really nobody on team that's really a leader, right? And you could step up it again.
Leadership also goes by example here.
I'm not gonna be on the video games.
They're not gonna be doing this blah, blah.
We got more to do.
Blah, blah, right? Just doing that type of guy Where safe for a few months.
You act like you're not doing your in your books.
Your your study blah blah for you to change your culture is gonna take somebody to take that leap right where your sacrifice and maybe your fun, maybe even your relaxation to go out and take that extra mile that extra step.
Hey, guys, let's do a night practice.
Let's do a 12 PM practice blah, blah, blah.
I'm not saying they didn't do it, but just look at how the way they played and how they were on the court.
It seems like I would think that that was not the case.
So I'm not saying you can't be compressed, but you're on a team that bad and you're not doing good and people are starting to hesitate or something.
I think maybe this was a terrible pick.
I think you gotta look, you gotta go about things a little bit differently.
You gotta take the Tom Brady join a lot and maybe a Yeah, You know, stuff like that gets put out there.
You know, this person did this.
This person did that.
What doesn't always get out there is when they are or when they have said, You know, I'm gonna go in.
Uh, I'm gonna go in at six o'clock this morning and work for three hours, and then I'm gonna go home and do this and then come back to the gym and work for three more hours.
You know what I'm saying? Why does it get out there That they play a video game or they do things like that? Because they put it out there, right? Or someone might see him online playing or, you know, or whatever it is.
So obviously, you know, those type of things Get out there.
You know, I'm not gonna discount that anyone is doing is not doing any kind of work.
I mean, I just know just I'm just speaking personally from me, right? I have goals that I wanted.
What? That I want to get to things that I want to do.
But, you know, I take my time to say, You know what? I've done this.
This, that and that and I'm chilling today we owe hose that I want to accomplish.
It doesn't matter if I'm an MBA player or not.
What Z n b d player If your NBA player there's those that I want to accomplish in my life, right? And I have not accomplished Yes, right.
I have not accomplished them yet, but it doesn't mean that I'm Just because I haven't accomplished yet doesn't mean that I'm not gonna take my time to decompress my time to have my mind right and have my time that I say here is when I really focused on this goal.
I'm gonna focus on this goal right now for this many hours, and then I'm gonna do this.
I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna come back and focus on this goal, okay? When the self hard come come into play here because I see what GMO saying a little bit.
Um and it's your crap.
Once you're in the n b A.
That is your crap. That is your job.
So you will want Thio be the best at the highest level.
Because at your age, your job and be you wanna have that self pride? I think that's the the the problem I was having with Knox or any I don't know.
It was It just knocks with this, um, fortnight thing.
Or was it? It was It was a group of them.
It was okay, just not a lot of guys that MBA, who do I mean, Trumper.
And like Stephen Jackson talking about, these guys aren't in the MBA.
They're spending more time out.
I'm not saying Knox was doing this, but just for the simple fact that the NBA basketball for many of them, is secondary like it's not even their first stop.
And think about that again.
It's one thing if you're Jamal Murray, it's one thing if you're LeBron James.
If you want these guys who are really good team and you're doing really well, it's another thing when you stuck and you're on a bad team.
So that's two negatives against you.
And again, the drop off okay, Kevin Knox is going to be an All Star.
Kevin Knox is gonna be a superstar.
Whatever and be this Italy vs.
If Kevin nonsense and improved, he may be overseas.
He may lose his opportunity in the end.
You know how ruthless the N B a could be after rookie contract.
So to me, I'm not I'm not saying you can't be compressed that stuff.
I'm just saying, you up when you're building a kingdom when you're building a new culture right there, a lot of extremes you gotta take to make sure, Okay, we start from up here.
So even as things kind of get, uh, what do you call like? Things dilute your culture, dilutes whatever.
We still got our core tenants.
The thing with knocks again, we see a guy like knocks.
What are some of the things that he's? Yeah, according Timothy's.
Apprehensive, kind of like you gonna show of himself blah blah, right.
And I'm not saying you can't be compressible whatever, but for a guy like knots, when people look at you like yo, you're supposed to be one of the top towns from the week is whatever you know, maybe drop the video games.
Maybe from next few years, just focused on bass, like look, keeping yourself because people are even questioning.
That is, that's where it's true, love.
And yes, I'm sorry.
I come from the old school where Club, We're gonna play like, Yo, you're not in the gym like me.
Bah, blah, Jay Williams said, is like, Yo, call me inscribing what? I've seen this guy in the gym before me and afterwards, like, Yo, that blew my mind.
I think more guys gotta take from those guys understanding.
So Jordan, Kobe, Tom Brady All those guys are up there.
But Tom Brady again.
Look at Tom Brady.
Tom Brady, come from Michigan was a You could calm Don't say one, but he wasn't this highly talented player.
He worked themselves up.
Thio guarantee you, Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, all your best players.
Of course, they had their times where they, you know, straight, focusing on basketball.
And they had their schedule regimented out, regimented out so that they had their time to do whatever it is that they wanted to do.
I can guarantee you I can.
I mean, I just think it's unrealistic that you think someone's gonna focus.
I want to say that I want to say this.
I wanna before and he goes, Um, I love the argument, guys, I love it.
I love the energy, but no, no, so to me, right? I totally get both the sides right because the end of the day, I think what we do as people that's not in the league and that way say straight up its work.
You know, they got to do this.
Got a lot of these player Tom, baby, Michael Jordan, all those guys.
Those dudes are literally, literally the all time great.
So what they do and they're special and they have the mentality where it's like I focused on my goal almost 100% but like some said, they do take time to themselves.
But I also agree with Gamma.
We says people like Kevin Knox wears like, Do you look absolutely loathe what extra work they put in? That is the problem that I have with everyone, judging what they do, People take one thing you take.
You take one thing and judge that and not knowing what the rest of this schedule is like, why don't you go spend a day or week with that player to find, to know what their schedule is like before you complain about them doing one thing? But maybe e O coaches might.
I'm talking about fans.
We say we we see these guys in one window, we don't know they could get up and they could work from 6 to 8 and then they can work from 10 to 12.
And then they could work from freaking two to four and three workout today, right? Or they could say, You know what? My schedule is going to be at work 12 to 2, 46 eight to 10 at night.
That's what I'm saying.
We don't know what their schedule is, but because they see one thing, we assume that they're not working on their craft.
No, no, no, it's not.
It's not just Mock's, not just not.
I'm getting this from I'm talking about any player.
Wait, let me just get up to my part.
So when I said with Stephen Jackson Shumpert, they were talking about everybody in the league, right? Not everybody.
They're talking about the whole week, not every single person, but what the wing is.
And when other fellow players attend there.
Only a few guys who are serious about their craft and these are four players who know current players around them.
I'm gonna take their word for getting in, being around, getting the lead.
They're not serious about their craft.
That's why you see the talented and it burned out because they're not serious.
So there's a final place saying that So you could tell the former places like well, like No, we do more, We do see them and they're saying this about don't play with every single player in the n B.
I just said I'm not talking about not talking about every single player But I'm saying that the climate in the N B A.
Is that a lot of young players? And I'm pretty sure they're probably talking about the majority when somebody's talking about when Stephen Jackson talking about, They said, Ah, lot of the players do not take things seriously because I think some was talking about how you know, players were taking out loans and stuff on their first contracts and getting broke after the stuff like that.
But you're saying those guys don't take this game seriously like that? A lot of these guys, they travel, they do the cracks, whatever and out there and they do in the instagram. They're going out there.
They're part of whatever. I'm not saying that's what I'm just saying.
There's a culture in the n b A and that's why again, e guys in college, a lot of the burning out, not Leslie, just because of culture.
But because they don't take it seriously, the craft isn't seriously e you're gonna have, I guarantee you, even from Stephen Jackson's day before then, there were players in the n b A. They didn't take it seriously.
That's why you have place.
You got Derrick Coleman that burnt out right? Every generation in every single generation, you're gonna have players that burnout and every single generation is going to say.
But e, I think the point that the players are making was that its's more.
Now it's not that there weren't you never had players burn out.
I mean, Jr Isaiah, writer.
I mean, a bunch of guys MBA who I haven't really became like out of shape.
Couldn't you know what I'm saying? That it did not happen? I think I think they're trying to say that it's happening more so now because you have the explosion off social media.
You have ah lot of things, and I'm not saying they shouldn't look if you could build your brand or whatever.
But for again, a lot of you guys have worried about building their brand more than you are about the game of basketball.
That's why you have a you know, we could sit and argue that it's more of a poor school because you have a lot of talented kids coming from college one year or whatever.
Prep school, whatever.
Were they come in the game? Yes, many teams have type of coaching, but a lot of these kids, they're not taking the crap seriously.
I mean, even during my don't say, I don't know, my time was really but Gerald Green guys who were collecting 1000 speakers and you even admit himself You guys like, Yeah, I wasn't taking the game seriously and I wanted to get traded or they're pushing this scene and it's like, Oh, man, I really saw how everything flat my career flash before my eyes because I wasn't taking it seriously.
And I think now you have got associate whatever and then they're not even e wanna say hold on like E wants a one day that you got and we're gonna Segway toe, you know, talk about a few more things with because they're still my show, dammit.
Arguing to day much for me now playing.
But now we're gonna talk about you know, how we feel about the Knicks and Leon Rose in the contracts.
But I want to say this though, um, to me, this right now, the way the current state of the Knicks, I mean, the current state of the MBA.
This, to me is why is more important to have players like a Jared Jack? Maybe not a not making a Stephen what his name.
But if you have players like Jared Jack, you have those guys.
But you know, a lot of these teams now just transitioning toe having 14 guys are under the age of 25 on the team.
And like, it's crazy to say that Randall and Bobby quarters on veterans and they're not even 26.
So it's like to me, you know, that's why I always That's why I was really big on the Knicks, keeping Jared Jack because I see what he did with Frank.
I thought he would have been really good for a team like this.
And this is why you get those 35 year olds, 36 year olds.
And that's why I think Taj Gibson is gonna definitely stay with us.
I think he's definitely to stay with one way once they once they we wrote that contract.
But this is why you have, for all these young teams that have all these young guys, you have a veteran.
You know, that can definitely help these guys out.
Would you Would you be opposed to having a d J.
Augustine here? Yeah, again, right? I don't know.
A man that stuff because to me Ah, perfect One again.
I'm always gonna go.
And this is crazy.
The thing is, this this is what really have me do.
This video was CP three because I'm not gonna name the podcast or the people that I was listening to, But there is this person on there talking about Chris Partnership, and, uh oh, God said she.
But she was like, Nah, we don't need a Chris Paul.
What is her exact words were, and this is what really sparked me.
And I called sin like the same day I was like you said she that.
People empowerment, man.
She was like, she was like, Yo, what is Chris Paul going to do for the mix if he gets there? And what's the impact he's gonna have after, like, two years? And I'm ahead.
I'm like, Wait, what? Like? And I'm like, Wait, wait, wait, Wait again.
Look, what I'm not gonna say no names on the podcast that I was listening to, but I was just, like, Wait, that doesn't make any sense.
I mean, I don't care what people say.
Okay, let's just say hypothetically, okay? Okay.
See, Win championships.
I can almost guarantee you during, uh, G A final M v P speech.
He's gonna be like, Yo, this wouldn't have been possible without Chris Paul or the impact Chris Paul had on those young guys learning how to win the right way and having a CP three on here.
And like for people to even say that he wouldn't have an impact on a young mixing was it blew my mind.
And it made me really have to do this real because I'm just like, yo, simply I mean he CP three way.
See what? I'm not gonna say he's gonna do exactly what he did on the thunder, because again, we don't know.
He's always gonna be a one year older, but for him and teachers winning waves.
And I already seen it with us.
Doing that with Jerry.
Jack have somebody like CP three on our team.
I mean, baby, how he had so much success with them and he didn't have any success with the Rockets.
It was so quick.
You know what I think with the Rockets, though? It wasn't all CP three to me, right? It had it had a lot to do with style of play with James Harden and the style of play that CP three would want.
I don't think you know.
Well, I think you need You need his mentality and his leadership.
You need that Sort of like this. Yeah.
The Rockets might have stand stand a better chance against the Lakers with CP three evening with Russell Westbrook E.
Right. Agree? Yes.
Yeah, you know, you okay? Just e I think you muted.
E Just start calling.
Adding ninja P man, because e dangerous and it says you hold up.
It says you a new that your mic in the chat But I still can't hear u e don't know what happened e g m.
I go some control and so I don't think controlling.
So I'm not going.
I'm just saying talking.
I couldn't hear you.
Don't see him. Get the supercomputer.
